Verbascum (mullein) is a large genus of about 250 species of plants with beautiful large felty leaves, most of which are found in the Mediterranean region. They are usually biennial (or perennial) plants that form a distinctive large leaf rosette on the ground, which is also their most remarkable feature during winter. There is a significant concentration of species in the Balkan Peninsula and the Middle East, occasionally making them hard to distinguish. At least 60 species of mullein can be found in Greece.
