Lesson Plan:Cyber Safety
YEAR LEVEL AND SUBJECT : 	Grade 9, Knowledge in Information Technology LESSON TITLE:  	Cyber Safety.
Is this a mixed –ability class?’ ‘Are there special-needs students?’ ‘Is it a single-sex classroom?’ ‘Is classroom layout important?’ 	CLASSROOM CONTEXT This is a all girls school
‘Why am I teaching this lesson?’ ‘Why am I using this particular pedagogy/methodology?’ By the end of this lesson students will understand what how to be resposible while using social networks. 			RATIONALE
			RESOURCES ‘What is needed in this lesson?’ A workstation with access to internet. Powerpoint 2010.
What do I want students to achieve in terms of skill and content acquisition in this lesson?’  At the end of this lesson students will  What is social networking. What is considered as appropriate behaviour on social networks.  How to set up privacy in social networks. Refer to Curriculum Documents 	VELS level 6 :   ‘What do I want students to achieve in terms of skill and content acquisition in this lesson?’ This task will teach students how to be cyber savvy and  be cyber responsible. LEARNING OUTCOMES
Prerequisite knowledge and/or links to previous/future lessons:  Students are required to have knowledge of internet
LESSON INTRODUCTION (Whole class focus 10 min)  Introduce what social networking is. Show a video on social networks.
MAIN COMPONENT OF LESSON (35 minutes) Interative discussion about the charecteristics of social networks. Discuss what are the pitfalls of social networks. Discuss how to protect yourself while using social networks.
LESSON CONCLUSION (5 minutes) Discuss with students  about what they have learnt from  the lesson.
‘How will I evaluate whether students have achieved the learning outcomes? There is no formal assessment for this lesson, but the discussion at the end of the class will help me evaluate if the students have developed and understanding Cyber safety. MONITORING AND ASSESSMENT 
  		EVALUATION  Did the students achieve the learning outcomes?’ ‘What might I change about this lesson in future?’ Things to think of: ,[object Object]
