UNIT 3 NOTES:
Heart
Dissections
(1) The Basics
• Septum:
Piece of meat separating the right and left side.
• Atria = Chambers on the top

• Ventricles = Chambers near the bottom
(2) The Right Side
--CARRIES DEOXYGENATED BLOOD-• Superior / Inferior Vena Cava:
Empties into the right atrium.
• Tricuspid Valve:
The valve between the right atrium + ventricle.
• Pulmonary Semilunar Valve:
The valve between the right ventricle + pulmonary
artery.
• Pulmonary Artery:
Exits the right ventricle.
(3) The Left Side
--CARRIES OXYGENATED BLOOD-• Pulmonary Veins:
Empties into the left atrium.
• Bicuspid/Mitral Valve:
The valve between the left atrium + ventricle.
• Aortic Semilunar Valve:
The valve between the left ventricle + artery.
• Aorta:
Exits the left ventricle.
