  8. The Open Badges in Scottish Education Group (OBSEG) was set up in early 2013 by Jisc to bring people and projects based in Scotland, with an interest in Open Badges, together. It performs: an overview and mapping function of Open Badge developments in Scottish Education; oversees a number of sub-groups; and provides a forum for discussion and the formation of connections around Open Badges. As you can see from the diagram there are a varied cross section of organizations linked to Scottish education represented in the group including: Primary/Secondary education, Further education, higher education; Qualifications Authority SQA, Standards SCQF and CETIS; Employer bodies; Professional associations; student bodies. The key benefits of having such a group:Through awareness and understanding of sector aspirations around Open Badges, key authorities provide educational institutions with ‘permission to innovate’Joint work, badge constellations and learning pathways created via sub-groupsAgreement on strategic decisions around Open Badges and the development of an Open Badge ecosystemThe group has been divided into sub groups : Staff Development ; Learner Progress and Technology and Design.
