Independence is a way of life which involves the spirit of being able to make
decisions for oneself. Independence has different connotations for different people.
But, in our own small ways, we try to imbibe the spirit of independence in whatever
                                    we do.
A JOINT NEWSLETTER OF

ROTARACT CLUB OF India achieved its independence on 15th August 1947 from centuries of colonial
LOYOLA COMMUNITY rule. Independence in India was achieved predominantly through non-violent
Sponsored by struggle by Mahatma Gandhi. Then, independence meant freedom on non-

R.I. District 3230 dependence on external bodies/agencies. In Sanskrit it translated to ‘Swatantrata’.
The theme of this joint bulletin is to imbibe the spirit of independent thoughts and
ROTARACT CLUB OF convert them into concrete actions.
     COLOMBO WEST
          Sponsored by
Rotary Club of Colombo West Rotary and Rotaract are organisations which are working day in and day out to help
        R.I. District 3220
us achieve fruits of our independence. Each of our countries has had a history of
ROTARACT CLUB OF struggle until it has realised true emancipation of the masses. India got it 64 years

independence. The whole Indian Subcontinent has a long history of struggle for

fore fathers. Rotary strives hard within countries to make sure that the countries

In our own small ways, we observe that independence is a natural quality innate in
ROTARACT CLUB OF human beings. Observe a toddler who has started learning to walk. If you go near
