         Applications are invited from male/female Indian citizens for appointment of Para Medical
Staff Group ‘C’ combatised in Border Security Force (BSF), Ministry of Home Affairs,
Government of India in the pay scale as mentioned against each post plus DA & other
allowances as admissible from time to time as accommodation, uniform, LTC and medical
facilities etc. The posts are temporary but likely to become permanent. Selected candidates are
liable to be governed by BSF Act and Rules.

2.   AGE RELAXATIO

     a)     Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC/ST and 03 years for OBC
     candidates for the all posts.

     b)      Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for candidates already in Government
     service holding posts which are in the same line or in allied cadre in accordance with the
     instructions issued by the Central Government from time to time.

     c)      The relaxation in upper age limit of 05 years shall also be admissible to those
     candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during
     the period from 01 Jan 1980 to 31 Dec’1989. Such BSF candidates belonging to State of
     Jammu and Kashmir claiming age relaxation should produce a certificate obtained from the
     District Magistrate within whose jurisdiction they had ordinarily resided or from the
     authorized official designated in this behalf by the Govt. of J&K.

     d)       The relaxation in upper age limit of 05 years shall also be admissible to the children
     and dependent family members of those who were killed in the communal riots of the year
     1984 and Gujarat of the year 2002. For getting this benefit, children and dependent family
     members of those killed in the riots should produce a certificate obtained from the District
     Magistrate within whose jurisdiction they had ordinarily resided or from the authorized
     official designated in this behalf by the concerned State Govt.


3.   PHYSICAL & MEDICAL STA DARDS

     a)   The minimum required physical and medical standard for the post of CT/Peon,
     CT/Masalchi and CT/Table Boy is as under:-

     b) Candidates should be medically fit in all respects. (Visual standard should be 6/6 to
     right eye and 6/12 left eye or 6/9 both eye without optical device.)

     c) The candidates must not have knock knees, BSF flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes
     and they should possess high colour vision. The candidates will be tested for colour vision
     by Ishahara’s test as well Edrich-Green Lantern Test.     They must be in good mental
     and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the
     efficient performance of the duties.

4.   SELECTIO PROCEDURE

     Selection procedure for the post of CT/Peon, CT/Masalchi and CT/Table Boy is as under :-

     i)     Documentation
            • Age : Applications and BSF other documents will be thoroughly checked by
              the board of officers. In order to ascertain authenticity of age and other
              important information of eligible candidates the board should accept only
              original documents of candidates.

            • Caste Certificate : The caste certificates produced by candidates should be
              those issued by competent authority in support of their claim of belonging to
              SC/ST and OBC. The board is BSF competent to take final decision in
              accepting / rejecting a candidate if he does not produce satisfactory /
              convincing documents.

            • Educational Qualification : In order to satisfy that the candidate is
              educationally eligible, the original certificates issued by the recognized
              Universities/Boards will be checked by the board.

     ii)    Physical Measurement

            Those candidates whose documents are found to be in order will be allowed to
            appear for physical measurement. BSF Candidates shall be screened and only those
            who satisfy the minimum physical standards as per para 3 above will be allowed
            to appear for Interview.

     iii)   Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

            Those candidates found fit in physical measurement will be put through for physical
            efficiency test (PET) as under :-

            The physical efficiency test will be qualifying in nature.

       iv)     Trade Test


               Those candidates qualify PET will be put through for trade test as under :-

                (a)   CT/Peon              -       Cycling, elementary knowledge in English &
                                                   Hindi for reading, keeping office neat/clean and
                                                   handling allied matters in office.
                (b)   CT/Masalchi          -       Washing of Hospital utensils, knowledge of
                                                   kneading of Atta for making chapattis and cutting
                                                   of vegetable etc.
                (c)   CT/Table Boy         -       Keeping furniture/fixtures neat/clean, hygiene/
                                                   sanitation, serving of foods and allied matters

       v)      Interview

               Those candidates qualify trade test will be called for Interview which carries 50
               marks. Break-up of marks is as under :-

                  Professional knowledge       =        35 marks
                  General knowledge            =        10 marks
                  Personality                  =        05 marks

                              Total            =        50 marks
                    The minimum qualifying marks for General / OBC candidates will be
               35% and for SC / ST candidates will be 33%.

       vi)     Medical examination

               Candidates who secure minimum qualifying marks in the interview will be
               subjected to detailed medical BSF examination so as to assess their fitness
               for appointment in BSF as per laid down standards. The medical examination will
               be held immediately after completion of interview at the respective centres.

       Application should reach at one of the above mentioned Centres on or before 18 Oct ’
2010. The applications should be accompanied with attested copies of certificates of proof of age,
education qualification, caste, tribe/hill areas (Domicile), wherever applicable.

6.     GE ERAL I STRUCTIO S

       (a)    The application form (Annexure ‘A’) must be filled by the candidate on proforma
       given with the advertisement. Correction, if any, should be legible and attested by the
       candidate.

       (b)  The envelope containing the application must be superscripted in bold letters as
       “APPLICATIO        FOR        THE        POST      OF       CO STABLE(PEO ),
       CO STABLE(MASALCHI) A D CO STABLE(TABLE BOY)” as the case may be.

       (c)    Candidate serving in Government/Semi Government/Public Sector undertakings
       should apply through proper channel. ‘No objection certificate’ from their employer will
       be required to be submitted at the time of personal interview.

       (d)    All eligible candidates who apply in response to this advertisement before the
       closing date will be assigned Registration/Roll Numbers. They will be communicated
       through Admit Cards for appearing in the Interview and followed by medical examination.

       (e)     Success in the interview confers no right to appointment unless the department is
       satisfied after medical examination and such enquiry as may be considered necessary that
       the candidate is suitable in all respects for appointment to the service/post.

       (f)    The appointment will be subject to the conditions that the candidates are medically
       as well as physically fit. The selected candidates will have to undergo Basic Training at
       any of the Training Institutions of BSF. The services of those candidates who fail to
       complete the training successfully are liable to be terminated.

       (g)    Candidates applying for two or more posts will have to fill up separate form for
       each post.

       (h)  Specimen of the application can also be downloaded from BSF Web Site :
       www.bsf.nic.in

       (j)      Selected candidates shall be liable to serve anywhere in India or out side.


7.     CHECK LIST

       (i)      Matriculation or equivalent certificate in proof of age.

       (ii)     Proof of education.

       (iii)    Caste certificate in case of SC/ST candidates. (Annexure ‘C’)

       (iv)    Candidates seeking reservation as OBC is required to submit a certificate in
       prescribed proforma mentioned in DOP&T OM No. 36033/94-Estt (Res) dated 02/07/97
       (copy enclosed as Annexure ‘D’) regarding his/her ‘OBC’ status and ‘non-creamy layer
       status’ issued by an authority mentioned in DOP&T Office Memorandum No.36012/22/93-
       Estt.(SCT), dated 15 Nov’93. In order to ensure that candidates not eligible to get
       reservation, do not seek reservation, a declaration, in addition to certificate by the
       competent authority, may be obtained from BSF the candidates seeking reservation as
       OBC as per proforma enclosed as Annexure ‘D-1’.

       (v)   Copy of certificate in support of claim for Adivasi/Mizos/Nagas (copy enclosed as
       Annexure ‘E’).

       (vi)     NOC in case of candidates serving in Central/State Govt/Public Sector Undertaking.

       (vii) Two latest identical passport size photographs duly attested by a Gazetted Officer
       (one on application form and other on admit card).

       (viii)   One self addressed envelop with Rs. 27/- postage stamps duly affixed on envelope.

       (ix)     Application and Admit card duly signed by the candidate.


8.     PAYME T OF TA TO SC/ST CA DIDATES

        Under the provisions contained in GOI’s Order No. 4 below SR 132 relating to the grant of
traveling allowance to SC/ST candidates called for interview (Group ‘C’ advertised posts)
recruitment authority can reimburse second class actual railway fare or Bus fare chargeable by the
shortest route from Railway Station/Bus stand nearest to their normal place of residence or from
which they actually performed the journey, whichever nearer to the place of interview and back to
the same station, provided that the fare of the first 30 Kms in both cases (i.e. rail or road) is borne
by the candidates and the re-imbursement restricted to BSF the fare in respect of the balance of
distance exceeding 30 Kms both ways. Extra charges if any incurred for reservation seat/sleeper
berth in

the train, will not be reimbursed to the candidates.       For road journey between stations not
connected by rail, the recruiting authority may allow such candidates actual bus fare or road
mileage at the lowest rate for Govt. BSF Servants as admissible under the SR, whichever is
less, provided the distance covered by road is more than 30 Kms each way.

       The above concession is not admissible to those SC/ST candidates who are already in
Central/State Govt. corporations Public Undertaking, Local Govt. Institutions and Panchayats.

  • 1. 1 DIRECTORATE GE ERAL BORDER SECURITY FORCE, (BSF) EW DELHI PERS DTE – RECTT SECTIO (ADVERTISEME T) Applications are invited from male/female Indian citizens for appointment of Para Medical Staff Group ‘C’ combatised in Border Security Force (BSF), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India in the pay scale as mentioned against each post plus DA & other allowances as admissible from time to time as accommodation, uniform, LTC and medical facilities etc. The posts are temporary but likely to become permanent. Selected candidates are liable to be governed by BSF Act and Rules. N ame of Post Vacancies Pay Band Age Education Qualification SC OB Plus Total Gen ST C Grade Pay a) Constable 18 04 02 08 32 5200- Between (a) Matriculation or (Peon) 20200 18 and equivalent from a (GP-2000) 23 Yrs recognized University or as on 1st Board with knowledge of August Cycling b) Constable 13 03 01 05 22 5200- Between a) Matriculation or (Masalchi) 20200 18 and equivalent from a (GP-2000) 23 Yrs recognized University or as on 1st Board with:– August (i) Two years work c) Constable 07 01 - 02 10 5200- Between experience in respective (Table Boy) 20200 18 and trades; or (GP-2000) 23 Yrs (ii) One year certificate as on 1st course from Industrial August Training Institute or Vocational Institute with at least one year experience in the trade; or (iii) two years Diploma from Industrial Training Institute in the trade or similar trade. b) Must qualify trade test. ote : Multi-skilled candidates will be given preference. ote : Vacancies are subject to change, may increase or decrease.

AGE RELAXATIO a) Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC/ST and 03 years for OBC candidates for the all posts. b) Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for candidates already in Government service holding posts which are in the same line or in allied cadre in accordance with the instructions issued by the Central Government from time to time. c) The relaxation in upper age limit of 05 years shall also be admissible to those candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from 01 Jan 1980 to 31 Dec’1989. Such BSF candidates belonging to State of Jammu and Kashmir claiming age relaxation should produce a certificate obtained from the District Magistrate within whose jurisdiction they had ordinarily resided or from the authorized official designated in this behalf by the Govt. of J&K. d) The relaxation in upper age limit of 05 years shall also be admissible to the children and dependent family members of those who were killed in the communal riots of the year 1984 and Gujarat of the year 2002. For getting this benefit, children and dependent family members of those killed in the riots should produce a certificate obtained from the District Magistrate within whose jurisdiction they had ordinarily resided or from the authorized official designated in this behalf by the concerned State Govt. 3. PHYSICAL & MEDICAL STA DARDS a) The minimum required physical and medical standard for the post of CT/Peon, CT/Masalchi and CT/Table Boy is as under:- For Male candidates Height Chest Weight ST/Adivasis of all States and Union 162.5 76-81 territoties including Nagas and Mizos Cms Cms Men belonging to hill area of 165 Cms 78-83 Garhwal, Kumaon, Himachal Cms Proportionate to Pradesh, Gorkhas, Dogras, Sikkim, Height as per Leh & Laddakh. medical standard. All other States and Union territories 167.5 78-83 Cms Cms For Female candidates 150 Cms Not applicable b) Candidates should be medically fit in all respects. (Visual standard should be 6/6 to right eye and 6/12 left eye or 6/9 both eye without optical device.) c) The candidates must not have knock knees, BSF flat foot, varicose vein or squint in eyes and they should possess high colour vision. The candidates will be tested for colour vision by Ishahara’s test as well Edrich-Green Lantern Test. They must be in good mental and bodily health and free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties.

SELECTIO PROCEDURE Selection procedure for the post of CT/Peon, CT/Masalchi and CT/Table Boy is as under :- i) Documentation • Age : Applications and BSF other documents will be thoroughly checked by the board of officers. In order to ascertain authenticity of age and other important information of eligible candidates the board should accept only original documents of candidates. • Caste Certificate : The caste certificates produced by candidates should be those issued by competent authority in support of their claim of belonging to SC/ST and OBC. The board is BSF competent to take final decision in accepting / rejecting a candidate if he does not produce satisfactory / convincing documents. • Educational Qualification : In order to satisfy that the candidate is educationally eligible, the original certificates issued by the recognized Universities/Boards will be checked by the board. ii) Physical Measurement Those candidates whose documents are found to be in order will be allowed to appear for physical measurement. BSF Candidates shall be screened and only those who satisfy the minimum physical standards as per para 3 above will be allowed to appear for Interview. iii) Physical Efficiency Test (PET) Those candidates found fit in physical measurement will be put through for physical efficiency test (PET) as under :- Event Male Female Remarks 05 Kms Run (for male) 24 minutes - - 1.6 Kms Run(for female) - 8.30 minutes - Long Jump 11 feet 9 feet Max 03 attempts High Jump 3 feet 6 inches 3 feet Max 03 attempts The physical efficiency test will be qualifying in nature.
  • 4. 4 iv) Trade Test Those candidates qualify PET will be put through for trade test as under :- (a) CT/Peon - Cycling, elementary knowledge in English & Hindi for reading, keeping office neat/clean and handling allied matters in office. (b) CT/Masalchi - Washing of Hospital utensils, knowledge of kneading of Atta for making chapattis and cutting of vegetable etc. (c) CT/Table Boy - Keeping furniture/fixtures neat/clean, hygiene/ sanitation, serving of foods and allied matters v) Interview Those candidates qualify trade test will be called for Interview which carries 50 marks. Break-up of marks is as under :- Professional knowledge = 35 marks General knowledge = 10 marks Personality = 05 marks Total = 50 marks The minimum qualifying marks for General / OBC candidates will be 35% and for SC / ST candidates will be 33%. vi) Medical examination Candidates who secure minimum qualifying marks in the interview will be subjected to detailed medical BSF examination so as to assess their fitness for appointment in BSF as per laid down standards. The medical examination will be held immediately after completion of interview at the respective centres. 5. The applications should be accompanied with attested copies of certificates of proof of age, education qualification, caste, tribe/hill areas (Domicile), wherever applicable. 6. GE ERAL I STRUCTIO S (a) The application form (Annexure ‘A’) must be filled by the candidate on proforma given with the advertisement. Correction, if any, should be legible and attested by the candidate. (b) The envelope containing the application must be superscripted in bold letters as “APPLICATIO FOR THE POST OF CO STABLE(PEO ), CO STABLE(MASALCHI) A D CO STABLE(TABLE BOY)” as the case may be. (c) Candidate serving in Government/Semi Government/Public Sector undertakings should apply through proper channel. ‘No objection certificate’ from their employer will be required to be submitted at the time of personal interview. (d) All eligible candidates who apply in response to this advertisement before the closing date will be assigned Registration/Roll Numbers. They will be communicated through Admit Cards for appearing in the Interview and followed by medical examination. (e) Success in the interview confers no right to appointment unless the department is satisfied after medical examination and such enquiry as may be considered necessary that the candidate is suitable in all respects for appointment to the service/post. (f) The appointment will be subject to the conditions that the candidates are medically as well as physically fit. The selected candidates will have to undergo Basic Training at any of the Training Institutions of BSF. The services of those candidates who fail to complete the training successfully are liable to be terminated.
  • 6. 6 (g) Candidates applying for two or more posts will have to fill up separate form for each post. (h) Specimen of the application can also be downloaded from BSF Web Site : www.bsf.nic.in (j) Selected candidates shall be liable to serve anywhere in India or out side. 7. CHECK LIST (i) Matriculation or equivalent certificate in proof of age. (ii) Proof of education. (iii) Caste certificate in case of SC/ST candidates. (Annexure ‘C’) (iv) Candidates seeking reservation as OBC is required to submit a certificate in prescribed proforma mentioned in DOP&T OM No. 36033/94-Estt (Res) dated 02/07/97 (copy enclosed as Annexure ‘D’) regarding his/her ‘OBC’ status and ‘non-creamy layer status’ issued by an authority mentioned in DOP&T Office Memorandum No.36012/22/93- Estt.(SCT), dated 15 Nov’93.
