Course Outline in So-An 101
Title of the Course: Sociology-Anthropology 101 (So-An 101)
Course Description: This is an introductory course, which highlights the basic concepts and
dynamic processes of the individual and society as well as culture. This 3-unit
course will be divided into two: the first half will focus on Anthropology while the
second half on Sociology.
Course Objectives: At the end of the course, the students are expected to:
a. describe, compare, and contrast the different basic concepts related to Anthropology and
Sociology;
b. apply the anthropological and sociological perspectives in analyzing some human
phenomena as well as their implication to the culture of peace;
c. demonstrate/perform at least one cultural practice of any western Mindanao cultures; and
d. demonstrate deeper appreciation on the different cultures in the Philippines, specifically
western Mindanao.

Grading System:
Class Standing (CS) = Quizzes + Class-works/presentations + other considerations
Midterm Grade (MG) = [2/3 (CS) + Midterm Exam] /3
Second Quarter Grade (2ndQG) = CS of the second quarter period
Final Grade = (MG + 2ndQG + Final Exam Grade)/3
