The Danteum is one of those monuments many people wish it was really built. But Giuseppe Terragni's and Pietro Lingeri's memorial for Dante and La Divina Commedia suffered an early death due to Italy's sudden war expenses. The Danteum can be placed among other theatrical and highly evocative examples of the way the Italians reveal their unique talent for drama: philosophical, material, spatial and contextual.
