Consumed by cancer
1. Consumed by
Cancer
A practical way to inform the 21st century about the dangers of
cancer
*what anyone and everyone needs to know*
2. • Major Cancer cooperatives like the American Cancer Society (ACS)
should turn to internet marketing in order to appeal to a
technologically savvy populous.
• Cancer is a growing, worldwide epidemic. The World Health
Organization (WHO) predicts that global cancer rates of new cancers
will increase by 50% from 10 million in 2000 to 15 million in 2020
• According to Dr. David Servan-Schriber, cancer is currently the second
leading cause of death in developed countries and among the top
three causes of death in Canada and the United States
3. • Servan-Schriber attributes the pervasiveness and prevalence of
cancer in our lives today to 4 major trends if you will
• 1) an aging population
• 2) world-wide trends in smoking prevalence
• 3) infection
• 4) increasing adoption of unhealthy lifestyle choices
4. • When studying the prevalence of cancer, it is essential to note that
the public at large is extraordinarily uninformed because, ultimately,
they’ve become accustomed to selectively hearing about the dangers
of only the major, most prevalent cancers such as : breast, lung,
colon, testicular, and/or prostate cancer.
5. *In order to understand cancer
prevention, the populous must first
understand cancer.
• Understanding that cancer as a disease is a scientific discipline.
• ALL PEOPLE have cancer cells in their bodies, but not all develop cancer.
Toxic substances present in the environment and food supply ultimately
play roles in the appearance of the first cancer cells in organisms and their
transformation into more aggressive tumors.
• The medical process by which this occurs is known as CARCINOGENISIS
• Cancer feeds on sugar. (Consumption of refined sugar has sky rocketed)
• The PET scan, commonly used to detect cancer, actually simply measures
the areas in the body that consume the most glucose. If an area stands out,
cancer is likely the cause.
6. • Carcinogenesis is the process by which normal cells are
transformed into cancer cells by a progression of changes
at the cellular level, which ultimately programs cells to
multiply uncontrollably.
• Carcinogenesis is caused by mutation of the genetic
material of normal cells which upsets the normal balance
between multiplying and cell death
• In a nut shell, all cancers are caused by a series of
mutations. Each mutation alters the behavior of the cell to
a degree.
7. While the public at large is uninformed, a
knowledgeable, informed portion seeks to
inform them!
Being more informed and technologically savvy as a society only
magnifies the rationale that major cancer cooperatives should
and would be more effective in disseminating their message via
massive public media platform like You Tube®
8. In his book AntiCancer, Dr., David Servan-Schribber
explicitly remarks that technology has advanced so rapidly
that screening for more obscure cancers may in fact be on
the horizon.
Being more informed and technologically savvy as a
society only furthers the justification for major cancer
cooperatives utilizing popular multimedia like You Tube.
9. According to Wiley Library, cancer is the second leading cause of death in children ages
1-14 in the United States and Canada, surpassed only by car accidents. 1284 children
died from cancer in 2008 alone.
Despite the fact that this number is astronomical, it is 83% fewer deaths than those
reported between the years of 1975 and 1977.
This statistic ALONE accounts for the significant advances in a technologically savvy
world and clearly suggests that current standards and results can be improved via the
utilization of an effective marketing campaign such as a marketing campaign through a
massive multimedia platform like You Tube.
10. The dawn is a new day offering new technological remedies
such as the You Tube cooperative I have proposed.
We might all maintain hope that these technological
innovations effectively counter ravenous diseases like cancer.
