4. The Problem Scenario
• The company had 27 locations where the goods were kept and from
there it went to all the required locations
• Company incurred a lot of cost of shipping as the locations were not
strategically placed
• Also, it was difficult to maintain stocks in 27 different locations
• L&T retained Accenture for its logistics and shipping time problem
5. The Solution Offered
• L&T incorporated the problem solution on the lines of J-I-T
methodology
• Accenture advised L&T to reduce the shipment locations to 4
• Suggestions were to make Nagpur as a central hub for the warehouse
as it was located at the centre of India
• This helped the company to lower the shipment cost and delivery
time to the required buyer locations
