4. Things to Remember
An Apprenticeship is:
A full time job & you
will be expected to
behave accordingly.
You are expected to:
Be at work on time,
Dressed appropriately.
5. Things to Remember
As an Apprentice you are training. You will
not necessarily be given the most interesting
or fun tasks to do initially because you need
to prove yourself & learn & develop into your
new role.
More interesting tasks will come later once
you have settled in & been trained.
You will have to work hard, listen to & follow
instructions from your manager.
An Apprenticeship involves hard work &
commitment, but it will be worth it!

6. The Apprenticeship Levels
Intermediate Level Apprenticeships:
Equivalent to FIVE GCSEs.
Advanced Level Apprenticeships:
Equivalent to TWO A-levels
Higher Apprenticeships:
Equivalent to a Foundation Degree.

8. An Apprenticeship
is a Full Time Job
Your employment will be for at
least 30 hours per week.
The minimum salary is £2.68 per
hour; however, many Apprentices
earn significantly more.
You will all have the same rights
as any other employee of the
company will have, this includes
holiday & sick pay.
9. 1. Technical Certificate:
The Technical Certificate covers all of the theoretical knowledge
‘underpinning’ your Apprenticeship. This is assessed using workbooks
& written work.
2. The NVQ/QCF
This is the practical element of your Apprenticeship. This is assessed
through observations & discussion.
3. Functional Skills
Functional Skills covers Maths, English & in some cases ICT. If you don’t
achieve Maths and English at GCSE grade A-C, don’t worry!
- This is covered within your Apprenticeship.
If you do achieve maths and English grade A-C then you do to need to undertake this part of
the apprenticeship.
What does an
Apprenticeship Involve?
10. All apprentices will sign an Apprenticeship
Agreement with their employer. It is an
agreement between you & an employer.
The purpose of the Apprenticeship Agreement
is to:
Identify the skill, trade or occupation for
which you are being trained.
Confirm the qualifying Apprenticeship
framework that you are following.
An Apprenticeship Agreement reflects the fact
that an Apprenticeship is primarily a job rather
than training.

11. What Happens Next?
Once you have attended the Pathway Apprenticeship Recruitment Day
the recruitment team will start working with you to help you find a
placement.
Be patient! It could take a matter of days to find something, it may take
a couple of months, it is vital that your placement is right for you!
We will contact any companies you have expressed an interest in to
discuss the scheme with them
We will try & match you to any vacancies we are currently working on
and organise interviews for you.
We will provide you with hints & tips & advice to give you the best
chance of securing the placement that is right for you.
You will have to be a flexible as possible & may need to attend
interviews at very short notice.
12. REMEMBER!
If you find your own placement
to do an Apprenticeship with
Pathway we will give you £50
worth of vouchers as a
WELL DONE.
