In my presentation I would like to describe
about Social Marketing in Child Care sector,
especially to save the girl child in India.
Social Marketing can play an important role
to save the girl child in India because Social
marketing is an approach used to develop
activities aimed at changing or maintaining
people's behavior for the benefit of
individuals and society as a whole.
Goal of this presentation:

Social marketing is an approach used to
develop activities aimed at changing or
maintaining people’s behavior for the benefit
of individuals and society as a whole. Social
marketing seeks to influence social behaviors
not to benefit the marketer but to benefit the
target audience and the general society.
Definition of social marketing:

Accept a new behavior.
Reject a potential behavior.
Modify a current behavior.
Abandon an old behavior.
Vision of social marketing.

 Girl child killing is a most popular social problem in India
and few other third world countries (for example
Bangladesh, Nepal etc).
 Birth of a female child brings along with the worries of all
the expenses of her marriage. Investing on her for her
upbringing, education is equaled to a zero return on
investment, as she will take away all that to another
family once she is married. She is perceived as a high
maintenance liability right from her birth.
Social problem in south Asian
countries.

Investing on her is equal to zero return on
investment.
To avoid the expenses of her marriage.
Traditionally only a male can carry forward the
family and family name.
Forced into abortion by relative.
Registered and unregistered clinics.
Government rules (most populated country)
Why girl child are generally killed:

In today’s day and age most couples prefer the
process known as a planned pregnancy, because
of various factors; prime amongst them being the
financial well being to support the birth and
nurturing of a child. In such cases, the first
prenatal visit actually happens prior to actual
pregnancy, to see whether one is ready to go off
the contraception pills and conceive a baby.

This social evil is deep rooted in Indian ethos
and the most shocking fact is that the innovative
and hard high end technologies are brutally
killing the Indian girl child. Innovative
techniques, like biopsy, ultrasound, scan tests
and amniocentesis, devised to detect genetic
abnormalities, are highly misused by number of
families to detect gender of the unborn child.
These clinical tests are highly contributing to the
rise in genocide of the unborn girl child.

development.
State government.
Medical doctors.
Diagnostic center operators.
Change agent (to save the girl child):

Family members
Mother of the unborn child.
Father of the unborn child .
Target adopter(to save the girl child):

 Now a days in India the government and different
NGOs are using social marketing approach to save
the girl child. Different advertisement has been
shown by the government to show the importance of
girl child. The advertisements are so much touching
that common people will think many times before
killing a girl child.

Conclusion
 So, we can say that the
general Indian behavior and
attitude regarding girl child
can be changed through social
marketing. It can be so helpful
to save the girl child in India.
 Social Marketing is important
and necessary to save the girl
child and in India government
is also trying to save the girl
child by using Social
Marketing technique.

