- Hello dear respected members of ESN, my name is Salih Odabaşı and I’m speaking to you today as a candidate for WPA of 2013-2014. Today, I will briefly introduce myself, talk to you about my ESN background and and explain why I am a suitable person for the position. Also my initial strategy and action plans. Okay, let’s get started.
- I was born in Istanbul 24 years ago. And I was a rower for 8 years till 2 year before I have been Erasmus. I finished my studies 4 months ago at Bilkent University, and had my Erasmus in beautiful cities of Helsinki and Bratislava.
- I joined ESN in 2010, right after my Erasmus in Helsinki. At the beginning I was involved in organizing parties and trips like most of you but most of my activities have been focused in 2 fields SocialErasmus and Web projects. I was successful and therefore I was able to undertake the responsibilities of these 2 fields in National Level too. Currently I’m the NR of my country and CNR ML admin since last CND.
- After I joined the IT committee, I took some responsibilities there. I was responsible for the Webshop, I guess I don't need to say more, because you all already know what it is.
- And I am so happy that it works well!
- I feel confident to be an IB member since I am a good team member with my background. Also I am responsible, empathetic and always accessible.
- To be able to handle more projects, together with IT committee will put them in an order according to needs of our network.And I believe importance of the maintenance on IT projects so that we will keep improving them while implementing new services.
- As I wanna see the Galaxy as main communication tool of the network, I will do my best for providing new web services for ESNers. I also want to facilitate the sections to have web hosting that we can go for a new partnership with any web hosting provider. And I am gonna support and continue with Drupal based projects since the existing system are based on it and it is one of the most popular content management systems.
- Another cool idea in my mind is to develop internship.esn.org, therefore sections and countries will be able to list their internship opportunities and ESNers can search for the most suitable one and apply for it. If we can get the grant for PRIME P, it would be even more awesome.
- Last but not least, I’d like to thank to all the others who took this path before making it easier for us to follow and go further. Thank you.
