2. It’s time to find a job and get back
into the workforce
Employment, part 2
It is easy to talk about how much you dislike your job, until
it is gone and you are unemployed. It shows that you
should be thankful for any job you have, despite its
downfalls. It’s time to find a job and get back into the
workforce.
Take advantage of the tips you find here to impress potential employers
and land that coveted position.
3. Attend job fairs
Career fairs are very beneficial to get you a job in the
future. They can be informative and help you see the type of
position that you’re looking for. An added bonus of
attending job fairs is the ability to meet and network with
other professionals. These acquaintances might just help
you to find a job.
Here is the button to take you to Be
A Boss. What you need to do is
to provide your email address, and
you will watch a video to get a fair
idea about this program. Then you
need to sign up to join It HERE.
4. Research a company before going to an interview
A lot of companies will have a website that gives you
the basics of what they do. That way, asking smart
questions and mentioning specifics about the place
will be something you can do. A few minutes doing
research could help you land that position.
5. Sell yourself well in the interview
To get a great job, you must sell
yourself well in the interview.
Humility and modesty are nice
traits but can hinder your job
search. Develop your own sales
pitch that will show a potential
employer why they should hire
you. It shouldn’t be longer than a
minute and it should be
memorized so that it can be
presented naturally to them.
6. Provide current contact information
Ensure the contact information you provide on your CV
is current. If an employer cannot contact you, then you
may miss out on the job. If you are moving to a new
home, a permanent address and mailing address are
necessary.
7. Fill out application in detail
If a recruiter asks you to
fill out an application,
take the time to fill it out
in detail. Even if all of the
info needed is on your
resume, you should show
potential employers you
know how to do what you
asked to do.
8. Do not perform any action on your
computer at work
Do not perform any action on your computer at work if you
don’t want others to see it. Even though you may be the only
one authorized to use your work computer, it is still owned by
your employer. As a result, the company is privy to all activity
on the computer.
If you spend time shopping, socializing or playing games
rather than working, you can be in serious trouble.
9. Don’t take less money than you’re
worth
While you may be tempted to take
anything that gets you in the door, it
will undervalue your worth. Use
salary calculators to help you decide
the pay you should accept for a job
in your field.
Employers will respect the fact that
you know how much you should be
getting paid. Employers will not hire
you if you do not recognize your
worth.
10. Look at your skill levels
If you feel you don’t have an aptitude in some necessary areas, fill the
gaps of knowledge. You do not have to take enough classes for an
advanced degree if you cannot afford it.
You could also develop your skills by volunteering or finding a job
shadow experience. For example, you can try to take a class on
bookkeeping software if that’s a job that you wish to apply for.
When you are unemployed, life can be very difficult and you may feel
very insecure until you have a new job. With any luck, these tips can help
you continue your search in the correct direction. With a positive
attitude, you will soon be employed and productive again!
