was the operational representative for a number of air support related special

About the speaker: Lieutenant Colonel Nick Gillard deployed to Operation
LODESTAR, Stabilisation Force, Bosnia in 1997 as the Staff Officer Grade Three
Artillery Plans and Targeting and awarded a Joint Commander’s Commendation.
On return, he held the appointments of Adjutant and Battery Commander, where
he was promoted to the rank of Major in May 2000. In November 2000 he
deployed with the third New Zealand Battalion Group to East Timor as a Company
Commander. Later in 2005, on promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, he assumed the
appointment of Assistant Inspector General Army General Staff, Wellington, before
becoming Commanding Officer, 16 Field Regiment RNZA in Dec 2006. In February
2009 he deployed with TG CRIB 14 to Afghanistan as the Commanding Officer,
Provincial Reconstruction Team Bamyan.
