apply to all of your needs but has been prepaired to
assist you to lay the fundimental ground work for
you to achieve your goals.

you could win the lottery or you could get attacked
by a terrorist.You could be praised by the masses or
lampooned into shame.This book is only a refrence
guide to help you where you may need it.If it helps
you then I am proud ,if it dosn't then let it be and
have faith in the way that is set before you.You
may not need this book.If that is the case than I

FOR IMPROVEING YOUR LIFE

First I would like to start off by motivating your self
confidence.What I would like you to do is to think about all
of the things that have ever gone wrong in your life.Think
about all of the failures,all of the disapointments,all of the
regreates,all of the sadness and misfortunes and
dissapointments.If you would like to write them down.

Now what have you learned from all of the trials and
tribulations that you had gone through in your life?
Did you die?If you have then please accept my deepest
condolences and gratuity for reading this book.
If you have not died however in time eventually you will.
For the remainder of the time you have left here I hope that
your life is enjoyable and satisfying.

Now write down all of the things you are good at.It might
not all come to you right away so just write down what you
can think of off of the top of your head and add anything
else you can think of later.

Now write down all of the things you have succeded at in
life include as much as you can think of off of the top of
your head and make shure to add all of the things you have
learned from your failures as well as all of the things you
are good at.

Fantastic!

Now your stepping in the right direction.Alright next write
down all of the things you have.Include clothing shoes
socks,books,furneture and anything that you think might be
of value to you or to someone else.Even if the list is short
you can always add to it later.

Now write down the names of all of your friends.Even if
the list is short you can always add to it later.

Write down the top ten things that you want for yourself
in your life.

Now think of how you can get those things.

Two important skills you should develope is the ability to
plan ahead on goals you can fallow through with and the
ability change your plan without a moments notice.

Not every project or task is going to come out the way
you initially planned it to and sometimes in the middle
of the project you start you may find that it isn't that
important for you to do right away.Do it when you've
got your heart in it and you'll do a better job.

There's only 24 hours in a day and on the average you sleep
8-12 hours and work 4-12 hours a day.Then there's
the commute to work and back & the time it takes to get
ready for work and changed for bed.At the end of the day
that dosn't leave you with much time or energy to do
very much of anything.

Fallow the step by step guide to help you develope the best
plan for your individual needs.

If things are going wrong don't take it out on the baby
Jesus.

Remember that the direction you are headed is most likely
where you'll end up.

How fast you get there is up to you.

Just like driving a car you control the gas and the breaks
and the direction.The perpose of this book is to give you
a very basic road map.The rest is up to you!

Also remember that even if you don't have much right now
your wealth will accumulate over time so don't get
discouraged if things aren't going your way right now and
just keep trying.If things don't pan out in one direction just
make a new plan and take it into a different direction.Your
the driver!

Ask yourself this question:Am I joy rideing or am I
speeding?It isn't good to have bad driving habbits
on the road of life or on any road for that matter.

You control the wheel!Don't drive like an ass hole, keep
your vehicle well maintained,fallow the rules of the road
and watch out for other drivers!

For the homeless
For the homeless here's the plan

Find the fallowing resources and use them

shelter
First write down the names of all of the people you know
that would let you crash at their house.Cross out the names
of anyone that would be physicaly or emotionaly
abuseive.Cross out the names of any one that would cause
any legal problems or ask you to commit crimes in return
for the favor.Cross out the names of anyone that would
also be known by someone who is a potential threat to
you.Now call the remaining numbers on the list and explain
your situation.

If no one you know can help you then call any of the local
homeless shelters and explain your situation.

If someone has hurt you call 911

If you have a drug or drinking problem call 911 and ask if
they can take you to a rehabilitation center.

If no beds are avalible at the homeless shelter then you'll
have to get creative.Look around for 24 hour resteraunts
bus stops,truck stops or anywhere that would be warm and
out of the elements.

Now get some rest!

food
Now get something to eat.Pick the way that best suits your
needs.

Many places frown on people begging for money so be
careful about doing that.There's nothing wrong with it
and it's not a sin but in many places it's ilegal.That's
on their soul not yours.

Another coures of action is to dig food out of the trash.
Be careful about that too.

Aside from the germs and bacteria there's also the posibility
that poisoniouse chemicals such as pesticides are in the
trash can as well.

If you decide to get food out of the trash take it from the
top of the can or even better sit in the resteraunt and wait
until someone gets up and throws the food in the trash then
grab that.

You can also grab the food that people leave behind on the
tables (leave the tip for the waitress alone though).

You could also ask the resteraunt manager if you could
may be mop the floor or do the dishes for food then explain
your situation.

Churches and non for profit organizations also sometimes

help homless people with food

Homeless shelters also serve food to the homeless

Another idea is to make a sign out of a cardboad box that
says "will work for food"and stand along the side of the
highway with it.Make shure it's big enough for people to
read it.

Many stores and resteraunts have free samples of food
as well as free condoments like ketchup and saltines and
creamers that with a little enginuity can be made into
tomato soup or a stew.

If you goto the department of family services and tell them
that you need emergency assistance with food they might
be able to "exbidite your case"and your food stamp card
will be active within one week of filing your aplication.
for the long term it's worth the wait so give it a shot.

hygene
Now that your well rested and have some food in your
stomach you should take care of your hygene so that you
can find a job.

Public restrooms are a good place to clean up and change
your clothing

Wet 2 paper towels and put a little bit of soap in one of
them.

Go into the toilet stall and lock the door.First use the soap
towel and wash your genitals and rectum.Then use the
other towel to clean away any remaining soap.

Now wet 2 paper towels and put a little bit of soap in one
of them again then go into the toilet stall and lock the
door.First use the soap towel and wash your feet and
between your toes.Then use the other towel to clean away
any remaining soap.Be shure to dry your feet well.

Repeat the same process for your armpits

Now wash your face and neck at the sink and wash your
arms up to the armpits but not the armpits themselves.

Now while your in the rest room go back into the toilet stall
if you have a change of clothes and change there.
(for future refrence if you don't have a change of clothes
use the list of places below to help you in your serch.)

Churches and homeless shelters give away clothing if your
not too perticular about it.Non for profit organizations that
have thrift shops sometimes give away clothing voutures.

Sometimes people throw away clothing at the laundromat
or leave it behind and are up for grabs in the lost and found
box.

Hospitals also have lost and found boxes and might have a
pair of gloves or a winter hat for you.

Behind apartment buildings in the dumpsters you might
find clothing.

Along the side of the highway you might find shirts,ball
caps,gloves and as strange as it sounds you could also find
a pair of jeans here and there.

In the wooded arieas and camp grounds and in parks,near
lakes and along the river banks you could find clothing.

In residential neighborhoods like the suburbs you could
find clothing in the trash cans.

Behind thrift stores you could find clothing in the dumpster

In parking lots you could often find articles of clothing

money

like I said earlier many places frown on people begging for
money so be careful about doing that.

Temporary services like LABOR READY hire walk in
people and some times have a job lined up for you the same
day.Other times however you might wait around all day and
get nothing.That's the best time to sleep.

In the warmer weather construction contractors hire people
without any experience and train them to do clean up and
waste removal as well as carrying the tools and materials
from the truck to the sight.

Many farms rely on unskilled labor to plant and to harvest
crops too delicate to be harvested by machines.

In the winter time people sometimes hire people to shovel
their drive ways and sidewalks.

If you can find an aluminum recycling center practically
everywhere you go there's soda and beer cans you can pick
up and bring to the recycling center for a little extra cash.

Sometimes places pay for human blood and plasma look
under blood banks in a telephone directory while your at
the temp service waiting for a job.

Sometimes truckers hire people to unload their freight for
them because they've been driving all night and their tired.

Sometimes resteraunts hire people to do nonfood related
tasks like sweep and mop the floors,clean the
bathroom,take out the trash ect.

While your at the temp service
Besides looking for the blood bank also look for listings in
the newspaper for roomates wanted then call and explain
your situation.

If that dosn't pan out then try the rooms for rent section and
explain your situation when you call.

Also look in the houses for sale section of the news paper
and see if you can find any listings for no money down
homes for sale.Give it a shot!After all what do you got to
loose?What the hell right?Besides the worst that could
happen is that they say no.If you go for it and they say yes
then there you go,but don't expect it to be a palace in a
gated community.

If you already have a job and a car

Then your alot better off then alot of people.

Park at a highway rest stop and sleep in the car
then goto a truck stop and take a shower and
wash your clothes.If you are strapped for cash
goto a payday loan office and make a loan for
as much as you can get or need to get.

Now is not a good time for you to goto a hotel because
you'll need whatever you can get to get your life back on
track.

For the people who aren't homeless
BASIC STEPS

STEP 1 Getting it together
The first step is assessment and organization.This is the
most important step because in the process of self
assesment your counting your blessings.Go through your
home and write down all of the stuff you already have in an
inventory list.

As you go through the things you have in your home clean
each item to like new condition and if damaged make any
nessisary repairs if possible and economicaly
feasable.Organize by putting it in it's respective place I.E.
dishes in the ketchen,toiletpaper in the bathroom ect.
Put all the items you plan to get rid of into seporate piles
and mark a box for each pile as yard sale/garage sale
donations,e-bay,christmas presants,birthday presants ect.
then put them away in storage.

STEP 2

Make a list of the things that you still need that you don't
already have.List the things in catagorys to make it simple
to use.I have included a general list of the most common
things found in the every day home.It isn't nessisary to have
everything on the list but you can use it as a helpful guide.I
have also included a list of the most common places to find
items you may need.Before you go out and buy any
of the items on your list first ask your friends,family
church members,coworkers and neighbors if they might
have any of the items on the list they are willing to donate
to you or know anyone that has something on your list
they are getting rid of or selling for really cheap.

"Ask,and it will be given to you;serch and you will find;
knock,and the door will be opened for you."

Now make a list of all of the things that you could not
afford to repair right away.There are a few factors that
should be considered when repairing anything.First is how
important that item is to you sentimentally.Second is value
to general society.Even if you have no possible use for it if
it is valuable to someone else you can sell it to them or
trade for what you want or need that you do have use for.
The third thing to consider is if it would cost more to repair
then it would to replace and if it would cost more than it's
value to repair.Sometimes it's cheaper just to buy a new
one.

Also consider how often you may use this item.If it's being
kept as a sentimental item then dose it need to be repaired
right away or can it wait?Another question to ask is if it can
be repaired.If it is damaged to a state of unrepairability
then think about what you would like to do with the
remains.

You can simbolicly incorperate them into the design of
something else or keep it as is or throw it away or bury it in
a symbolic gesture of respect for the object you once
cherished.That's your choice!

STEP 3
Make a budget of your money.This should include your
rent,utilitys,phone bill,internet charges,car payments,car
insurance,grocery bill,credit card payments,student
loans,cable bill and any other bills you might have and
subtract them from the amount of money you earn.

If your monthly bills exceed your pay check then figure out
the bills that you can cut back on and some of the extras
you can do without.

Even if your bills don't exceed your monthly budget you
should cut back on expenses anyway.

Do you really need 180 channels of reruns and repeats?

Do you really need a cellular phone in case of an
emergency or can you just use a pay phone or flag someone
down if you break down?

Put away as much money as you can into savings.

Invest your money!Aside from putting your money into
savings you should put aside a little for investments,tools
supplys,and things that will help you make a profit later on.

Do your research to learn more about stocks and bonds and
mutual funds,buissness ventures and other investment
intrests.

Find the highest paying job you can and go back to school.

Take a course in something that you enjoy and are intrested
in.

If it's something your intrested in your more likely to
remain in an occupation that is relitive to this ,the rewards
will be more enjoyable and you will be more likely to do
well.

Be patient!Take your time and do well!Take little steps and
don't push yourself too hard!Keep a slow steady pace and
keep trying.

Stay out of trouble!Keep your nose clean as the saying
goes.No matter how hard a person trys to pull you into a
conflict stay out of it.Don't have anything to do with
criminal activity as much as possible and avoid situations
that may lead to wrongful incarceration if possible.For the
time and money you loose and all of the other ramifications
involved you'll loose more than you gain
Mabe you can nigotiate or try to resolve the situation in a
peaceful manner first.That isn't as easy as it sounds and

way easier said than done but with a little practice it gets a
lot easier over time.

The reason we work is to improve our own lives as well as
other peoples lives and the lives of the generations to come
so donate your time and money to improve your
community and the world you live in.

Volenteer at your local red cross, do fund raising for the
animal shelter,pick up the garbage around your ariea streets
and side walks.

Join the Boy Scouts of America or what ever you feel you
would like to do to make the world a better place to live.

Remember that everything we have comes from the
ground.."We brought nothing into this world and it is
certain that we can carry nothing out." I Timothy 6:7

Your not going to live forever that's just part of life but
what you give to others will impact the world long after
you are gone.

Everything you have right now comes from the earth and
it's value is truely nothing compared to the value of human
decency and integraty.That dosn't mean to give away all
your worldly possesions but if you have enough to be in a
situation where you can afford to help others and it isn't
going to effect you by giving help then do so,but do it
because you want to help others and don't expect to have
any recognition for it or to gain anything in return.

the plants you grow.

Banks usually give away freebees like pens,pencils and
calendars.Scrap paper can be found at the libruary or post
office.Scrap cardboard can be used as a temporary chalk
bord or clip board and well chared cuts of sticks can
replace chalk as a substitute.Old contact paper or sticker
labels can be used to substitute tape if appearance dosn't
matter.

CONDOMENTS

Ketchup,salt,mustard,pickle relish,soy sauce,hot
sauce,mayonase,duck sauce,sweet and sour sauce coffee
creamer,parmashan cheese,oregano,sugar,sweetener,
crutons ,bacon bits,butter,crackers,halapinios,cheese sauce
candy ,mints and ect.can all be found at a resteraunt or
service station.

CLOTHING

Most laundromats have a lost and found box and throw
away the clothes that are not picked up after about a week.
Some people disguard clothing at the laundromat if the
clothes are stained or discolored or there's a rip or loose
button or missing button on them.

Clothing can also be found in the dumpster in most
apartment complexes.

HYGENE

Soap and toilet paper can be found at resteraunts and
service stations.In a pinch you can use paper napkins as a
substitute for toilet paper.

REPAIRING ITEMS IN YOUR HOME

To save money sometimes its better to repair an item
instead of replaceing it.Use the list below as a helpful
guide.Some of the methods date back as early as the
1800s.

PLASTIC ITEMS

To repair a plastic item it is helpful to have a few scraps of
the same kind of plastic that can be used to weld or glue in
place as a patch on any items with holes or missing pieces.

It is also helpful to have a little creative ability in sculpting
and to have patience.

CRACKS

For small cracks in a piece of plastic that dosn't hold any
pressure behind it clear apoxy like super glues will work
fine.For PVC pipe that may hold water pressure it may be
nessisary to cut the pipe and put a streight connector
in place.for long cracks it may be nessisary to use two
streight connectors and a replacement piece of PVC pipe.
The freshly cut ends and the connectors as well as any
replacement pipe should be sanded and cleaned and free of
oil before glueing them together.Use PVC cleaner to soften
plastic before glueing fallowing the directions on the can.
Use PVC glue to glue the dry pipe and connectors together.

SMALL HOLES

For small holes in plastic appliances use plastic filler
purchased at any hobby shop.After the hole has been filled
it may be nessisary to touch it up with paint.You should try
to match the color and texture as closely as you can.for
imitating texture of an object lightly press a piece of plastic
filler over an oiled section of the project then let dry.use
this to impress onto the patched ariea of the project.It may
at times be nessisary to etch the patterine by hand to blend
it with the existing piece.

LARGE HOLES

You should cut the hole into the simplest shape you can
then trace it's edges on a piece of paper.cut the traced
image out and use it as a pattern to copy onto a piece of
plastic.Cut the plastic then put a bead of glue on it's edges.
Press the piece firmly in place and let it set for a few hours
regardless of whatever it says of the drying time on the glue
lable.Paint and sand the object then dry.

WOOD

Regular wood filler can be used to fill small holes but for
larger holes in wood it is nessisarry to use a piece of wood
that will fit inside the hole then coat the edges with wood
filler and remove excess from surface.

Cheap wood filler can be made by mixing wood glue and
saw dust together to make a puddy consistancy.I leave this

to the reader to determine the consistancy desired and to
measure the quanitys there of.

Once the wood has been filled then sand the wood to a
smooth surface then paint.The wood filler unfortuneately
will not stain properily but if you desire the piece to be
stained you can mix coloring into the wood filler to match
the surface color and it will dry to roughly the same color.

METAL

For metal surfaces there a number of things you can use to
repair holes.The most common is to use body
filler.Fallowing the directions on the can mix the body filler
on a scrap piece of cardboard using a plastic puddy knife.
Be shure that the color is consistant and that the filler is
thourally mixed with the cream hardener.Once this has
been done quickly place the mix onto the surface and flaten
as smooth as possible.It may help to have a mask or rag
over your face to keep from inhailing the noxiouse fumes.It
may also make the job easier to whear gloves because if it
sticks to your hands it's difficult to remove.Let the work
dry over night then sand the surface with an electric sander
using course sand paper to get it about level with the metal
surface then use fine grit to bring it even with the surface.
Be careful to not apply too much pressure to the sander or
to sand an ariea too long.This will cause it to melt and
make
melted balls of body filler on the surface of the sand paper
that will destroy your work.

MIRRORS

This a job that will take considerable skill to do correctly if
you intend to repair the glass.If you don't mind replacing
the mirror glass then the job will be worlds easier.

You will need to remove the mirror silvering from the glass
before you weld the pieces back together.Once the glass is
clean prepair a setiline or propain tourch by opening the
valve on a low setting then lighting the gas.slowly raise the
setting until the flame is blue.slowly heat the glass on a
nonflamible surface such as metal or concreate.Remove the
flame periodically to move the pieces of glass closer
together then continue to heat the edges until the glass has
mended together.Continue to give even sweeps over the
surface of the glass and lower the flame.Slowly reduce the
amount of time given to each sweep then lower the flame
again.Continue this process until the flame is off.Let the
project cool slowly.The slower the better.

MIRRORING GLASS

Buy a can of mirroring spray paint and a can of grey primer
paint.The mirroring paint can usually be found at any

hardware store,craft store or hobby shop.It usually sells for
the same price as regular spray paint.Lay the glass on a
newspaper or a piece of scrap cardboard then spray the
glass with the mirror spray paint in even sweeps.Be shure
to stop periodically to shake the can.Let dry completely
then spray on the primer paint in an even coat over the
mirror sprayed surface.Let dry.Reinsert the mirror into it's
frame and secure.

STCKERS,DECALS & LABELS

For replaceing stickers,decals or labels make a
photo copy of the original then adhere it to
the project you are working on.If you do not
have the original stickers,decals or labels then
you can improvise with custom decals using
fonts on your home computer or picture samples
you find in magazines or other sources.Once you
have found the picture sample you want simply
print it out to size as a color transparency and cut
it out then adhere it to it's proper location.

For large stickers,decals or labels you can use the
same transparency method or you can trace an image
onto the surface of the project using stencils or a
photo copy of the item and a sheet of carbon paper
then paint it with a artists paint brush or mask it off
with masking tape along the lines and spray it with
spray paint in light even coats.

HANGING WALLPAPER

Hanging wall paper is difficult but there's an easier way to
do it.

First determine the height you would like it to run it if you
don't plan to run it the full expanse of the wall from floor to
celing.After the measurement has been made for the height
of the paper use a chalk line to mark it or use a ruler and a
guide.I recomend using a chalk line and if you don't have a
chalk line you can use a piece of string as a chalk line by
rubbing it in ash.Take one end of the chalk line and nail it
to the marked height of the desired wall paper height then
do the same to the other end keeping the line taunt.Pinch
the line between two fingers and pull it back then let it snap
back in place.This should give you a fairly acurate marking
of where the wall paper is to stop.Spray some spray
adheasive to the surface of the wall where the paper is to be
hung.Line up the wallpaper end with the line you have
made then bend the paper to the corner and cut it streight
across.Make shure that the paper is smooth against the wall
and that it dosn't have any air pockets.With the freshly cut
end of the wall paper still on the roll line it to the chalk line

and the end of the freshly hung wall paper.Repeat the steps
used to hang the first piece and continue until your done.

PATCHING PLASTER

If you have a small screw hole in the wall use a little piece
of toiletpaper ,napkin or straw wrapper by chewing it into a
spitball then forceing it into place with your finger.Flaten it
out then paint over it.

For larger holes cut the hole into a small square then cut a
small piece of sheetrock into a square to match it.If you
have no sheetrock use a piece of cardboard and cut it to fit
the hole.For both you should carefully press the patch into
place as flush as possible.Cut strips of news paper to a two
inch width then wet the paper and stick it to the wall over
the patched hole.Carefully place a layer of joint compound
over the paper and smooth it out with the puddy knife.Let
dry then sand it smooth.paint and texture it then let it dry.

SPACKELING TAPE

To save a few bucks on spackeling tape you can use strips of
newspaper cut to the width of the spackeling tape and apply
it the same way you would use the tape.

STUCCO

For reparing stucco you can use a mix of paper mache and
dry plaster mix.To make the paper mache rip up as much
news paper as you need and put it into a bowl,add water
and let it set over night.Break up the newspaper with your
hands and mush it between your fingers.Add in a little
plaster of paris at a time until the mix is similar to stucco
mix then apply to the damaged arieas.Allow it to dry before
painting.

PAINTING

It's a good idea to first clean the walls free from any dirt
grease,soap scumb,bird droppings,loose paint and ect.
before you paint.After you have prepaired the wall you
should patch paint over any ariea that you scraped away
loose paint or that may be stained or discolored.For stains
that bleed through the paint you should spray the ariea
with degreaser and wash the ariea with a hot soapy towel.
Let the ariea dry then patch paint the ariea again using the
same color as the wall and blend it the best you can.
after the patch painted arieas are dry apply a thin coat
of paint the same color as the paint already on the wall
over the entire wall.The more you can blend it and stretch
it out the better.Hopefully you won't need a second
coat of paint after that.

PAINT

For dried out paint in a paint bucket you can add some
paint thinner to it , stir it in and mix it well into the dried
out paint and you should be able to use it as paint.The
end result will be a chunky soup of colored paint thinner
and softened globs of paint unless you mix the hell out of
it and mash the globs with your hands.It's messy to do but
it works.

If you don't have any paint thinner you can also use kerosine
gasoline or lighter fluid to soften up the paint.

for paint that's too watery you can add a little plaster of paris
or powdered joint compound to absorb the excess moisture.
keep in mind however that it will lighten the color of the paint.
If you don't want to change the color of the paint I would
suggest that you just leave the can open for a day or so to
let the moisture evaporate.You may need to stir it occashionally
to keep it from skinning over at the top.

PAINT BRUSHES

Even cheap paint brushes cost money but if you take care of
them they can be used almost indefinantly.For used paint
brushes that are damaged by dried paint they can be easily
cleaned by placeing them in boiling hot water and picking
out the big globs of paint by hand when they are softened.
Once the larger globs are removed the smaller globs of paint
can be worked out with a hair comb and the remaining paint
should wash out fairly easy.

ROLLERS

Like with cleaning paint brushes, rollers can be cleaned by
using hot water and pulling off the large glops of stuck on
paint.After the large glops are removed use your hand to
force out any wet paint still in the roller.Wash the roller
several times and force out the paint each time until the
water comes out clear.

CARPET

Instead of replacing your old carpet you should see if you can restore
the existing carpet by giving it a good shampooing with a rug shampoo
machine.If you buy a rug shampoo machine you can bring it back after
you use it.Spray any stains in the carpet with stain remover first and try
to work out the stain.If the carpet is discolored but the mat is still in good
shape you can always dye the rug for a fraction of the price of buying a
new one.

TRIM WORK

For base boards,corner moulding and trim around doors and windows
you can use calk to fill in small holes.You can also use paper mache,
plaster of paris,spackle,wood filler,mud mixed with elmers glue,body

filler or even playdough to fill in the small holes.

For large holes you have to be a little more creative.For the larger holes
you can fill them in with paper mache,plaster of paris,spackle,wood filler,
mud mixed with elmers glue,body filler or playdough to fill in the holes,
but you have to sculpt it into the shape of the rest of the moulding.To
make it a little easier you can make a cast of the moulding then use it as
a tool to slide across the surface that is to be moulded.

For the really large holes or missing pieces you can remove the trim from an
inconspiciouse ariea like behind the sofa or behind the bed and piece it in
then blend the ariea with hole filler and paint.

If there are no inconspiciouse arieas in the room that you can swap a piece
of moulding then you can use the moulding cast and instead of using only
hole filler cut a strip of cardboard small enough to fit the largest portion of
the ariea with the missing piece then fill the rest with the hole filler.

REPAIRING TILE

Instead of replaceing all of the tiles first see if you can find
replacement tiles that match the existing tile and replace only
the tiles that are damaged or missing.If you can't find any tiles
to match the existing tile then see if there's an ariea of tile in an
inconspiciouse spot like under the refridgerator or behind the
toilet and carefully remove it from that ariea.Once you have the
replacement tile make shure it is cleaned well and make shure
you clean the ariea of loose grout,dirt and tile before you apply
new grout.Next apply the new grout and press in the new tile.
press firm but carefully and slowly allow any excess grout to
ooze out around the edges of the tile.Wipe the surface with a
sponge and then press a book over the top to check if it is
level.Use the cover of the book to check if the tile is lined up
properly with the other tiles.If too many tiles are missing you
should replace all of them.

LAYING TILE

First measure the room then determine the amount of tile
needed by the measurement of their size.Spread the tile
glue in strips of the same width as the tile and lay the tile
in a streight line over the glue side by side then run another
line of glue and line up the tile side by side next to the
other tile line so the corners of the tile are side by side with
a streight line in both directions.continue this process until
you get to the edges of the wall then cut the tile by using
the last tile as a guide.

TUBS,SINKS &TOILETS

If your tub,toilet or sink is broken see if you can replace only the broken
portion of the tub,toilet or sink first.If the tub toilet or sink is damaged
beyond repair mabe you can replace it with a used tub,toilet or sink.
If the damage to your tub,toilet or sink are astetic flaws like rust stains
scratches and nicks or chips missing ,cracks ect. you may still be able to

repair it.

For chips, nicks,scratches and cracks use body filler to patch them then
sand it smooth.Clean the tub,toilet or sink after sanding to remove dirt
and debris then clean the entire object well to remove grease,wall paint
soap scumb,lime,calcium,mineral deposits and rust.To remove rust stains
use rust remover and spray sparingly over the stain then rinse the stain
well.Repeat if nessisary until the stain is gone.

Remove the tub,toilet or sink from it's location then find a clean,dry and
well ventilated ariea to paint your work.Shake the can of tub ,toilet & sink
spray paint well.Make a last minute check to see if the tub,toilet or sink is
completely dry and cleaned.Now spray the ariea that you made the repair
to first with a really fast sweep and keep the can about a foot away from
the project.Now let that dry completely before you put on another coat of
paint.Clean the surface of the project and let it dry.Now spray paint the rest
of the project with a thin coat of paint and blend it together the best you
can.Clean the surface of the project and let it dry.If it's nessisary apply
another coat of paint then clean the surface of the project and let it dry.

HOT TUB

If you have the ability to work with concrete you can save a lot of money
building a hot tub yourself.First goto a place that sells hot tubs and get
one of their flyers.Pick the one that you would buy if you had the money
and find out what parts goto it and how much the replacement parts cost.
Get the replacement parts and copy the design using concrete instead of
fiberglass.

PIPES

You can save money on PVC pipe by useing garden hose.
You should only use the garden hose on the cold water pipes
because the hot water makes the hoses expand.It's better to
use garden hose instead of PVC in arieas that are prone to
pipes freezing in the winter because PVC tends to split and
garden hose expands more readily.To connect it into the
plumbing system use hose clamps and tighten the hose
clamp & hose as tight as you can against the PVC without
busting it.It helps to have a little rosen or glue to help seal
it so it won't leak but if the clamp is tight enough you won't
need any glue.

ELECTRICAL

This is not an ariea you should be cutting corners in.I'm not
going to recomend it.However if it's nessisarry in an emergency
it's need to know information.So I will include it in this book to be
used at your own discression.

HOUSE WIREING

Old appliance cords recycled from refridgerators,ovens,telivishions,
VCRs,sterios,microwaves ect.can be used temporarily to replace
damaged house wireing.

Extentions can be used temporarily to replace damaged
house wireing.

Heavy grade speaker wire can be used temporarily to replace
damaged house wireing.

FUSES

For older fuse style fuse boxes a strip of aluminum can be used
temporarily to replace damaged house fuses.

For older fuse style fuse boxes a piece of old appliance cords
recycled from refridgerators,ovens,telivishions,VCRs,sterios,
microwaves ect.can be used temporarily to replace damaged
house fuses.

Heavy grade speaker wire can be used temporarily to replace
damaged house fuses.

LIGHTING

If you don't have a lamp in your house a light bulb with old
appliance cords recycled from refridgerators,ovens,telivishions,
VCRs,sterios,microwaves ect.taped to the leads can be used
temporarily to create a makeshift lamp.To make it a little more like
a lamp you can tape it to the top of a beer bottle or liquer bottle.

ROOFING

First see if you can find any used replacement shingles that will
match the existing roofing.If you can't find any replacement
shingle that will match try to find something that's at least a fairly
close match then swap it for some shingles in an inconspiciouse
location of the roof like in the back of the house over the gutters.
Use plenty of roofing tar under it when you put in the shingle and
be shure that it lines up with the rest of the shingles.

For arieas of the roof with rotten spots in the plywood you should
strip away the shingles as carefully as you can over only the rotten
portion of the plywood.Cut away the rotten plywood and replace it.
Lay down a layer of roofing tar and roofing paper over the plywood
patch then lay the salvaged shingles.

For flat roofs cut away the rotten plywood and replace it.Next lay a
thin layer of roofing tar and lay a cheap black plastic painters tarp
over the ariea and press it down firm.Cut away any excess tarp then
give a good bead of tar under and over the edges of the tarp and
press it firm against the roof to prevent any leaks.

TUCK POINTING

If you don't plan on doing masonary work as a career
more likely than not you don't have a tuck pointing tool.
Instead of going out and buying one the next time you

do masonary work on your house you can use an old
spoon to push the concrete into the cracks and smooth
it out.

SIDEWALKS & PATIOS

To save a few bucks the next time you set out to replace
your patio or sidewalk you might want to consider using
the broken chunks as filler for the new concrete you pour.
You'll have to bust it up into smaller chunks with the sledge
hammer but you'll save money on gravel and on dumping
charges to get rid of the stuff.

DECKS & PORTCHES

Before you replace your deck you should consider just
replaceing the damaged portions.If you intend to build
a larger deck you should consider just adding onto the
existing deck and staining it or painting it all one color.

DOORS

Instead of replaceing the door mabe you could repair the
door you have by sanding it down, filling in any holes
with wood filler,painting it or staining it,using larger and
longer screws for fastening any hindges ect.
Another idea is to buy a used door if the old door is
unrepairable or missing.If your any good with wood
working you could build the door from scratch and just
copy the design of the door you really like for a fraction
of the price of the door at the store.

WINDOWS

Like with doors you can salvage or replace old windows
with old windows but I would recomend replaceing old
windows with new ones that are more energy efficient.
If you can't find any old windows you should consider useing
plexiglass.It's a lot cheaper than glass and alot easier to cut.
If you live in an ariea that you would be prone to having
sports equiptment hurled through your window you may be
better off in the long run to use plexiglass or plant a tall shrub
in front of the window.

STAINED GLASS WINDOWS

These are truely the most beautiful windows to have in your
home if they are done right.Many times they can be cheaper
to make than replaceing a window with a used window.If you
decide to go with stained glass instead of a regular window
you should goto your local libruary and look under stained
glass windows for some general ideas of the best patterines
for you.Many people use religiouse themes,historical themes
sports themes,nature themes,family crests ect.
.

LAWN & GARDENS

You can use plastic bags,rags,carpet scraps,card board and
newspaper sticks, saw dust and leaves to help prevent soil
eroshion in your lawn or garden.This will also help to hold
in soil moisture and absorb excess soil moisture.Scrap metal,
broken glass and scrap plastic can be used in your lawn but
it is not recomended for use in vegitable gardens.

Human waste,animal waste,food waste, mulch and burned
ashes make great furtelizer for lawns and gardens.It is important
however to remember to meashure the PH content of the soil to
assure proper growth of vegitation.

IN GENERAL

Any repairs that are made to your home adds value to your
home.Even if it's only a rented apartment if you put your
time and energy into repairing it and you have value in it as
a home others will value it and respect you more for putting
the effort into it.

I would like to point out however that if you live in a rented
place and do not own it or are not on the lease the land
owner should be asked before any repairs are to be made.If
there is a clear explination of the intentions to correct
damages to your home that are minor astetic infringes to
the overall structure usually there will be no disagreement
as long as the land owner dosn't have to pay for it.

You should adopt the same mentality as far as saving
money and only make repairs that are absolutely nessisary
to the order of the homes overall apearance.In other words
if you can hang a poster over it or hide the defect with a
piece of furneture do it and forget the problem unless you
own the place you live in.

CLOTHING REPAIRS

Though it would be difficult if not impossible to include all
of the styles and tecniques used in the modern world I give
rough ideas of cleaning and repairs for general perpose use.

DYING CLOTHING

Wash the fabric then fallow the directions on the box of the
dye manufacturer.It is a good idea to dye many items at one
time to reduce waste of the dye.Things such as wash
cloths,towels and dish clothes should be dyed multible
times and then set to prevent the dye from fadding.
Sheets,blankets,pillow cases and furniture should be
washed thourally before being used so the dye dosn't wear
off on your skin or clothes.

REPAIRS

For a pull in a sweater use a paper clip to pull the loose
thread to the other side then pull until it is no longer visible
from the out side of the sweater.

For black shoes with a scuff mark clean the shoe then use a
little vasoline or lip balm or grease,motor oil,butter

it and put it on the scuff mark then lightly buff it with a rag
or a paper napkin or a wash cloth.

For faded suits throw them in the washing machine then
throw a couple of packets of Rit dye in with it and wash it
on the most delicate setting you have.Let the suit drip dry
then iron out the rinkles.

If your sewing a sock always turn the sock inside out and
sew from the inside so it won't show on the outside of the
sock.

To repair book covers make a color photocopy of the
book cover then cut it along the edges and paste it
to the binding and existing cover.

BOOK BINDINGS

To repair book bindings first make shure that all the pages
of the book are in proper order then align all of the pages so
that they are flush along the back of the book.Now glue the
edges together and press a piece of paper against the back
cut to size.Let the glue dry then glue the book cover onto
the book over the piece of paper.

BOOK PAGES

To repair damaged pages of a book press the edges of the
torn paper together then gently apply a bead of glue and
smooth it.Let it dry then glue it on the other side.

For serverly damaged pages photo copy the page on both
sides then remove the old page and replace it with the two
new pages.

COMPUTERS

Pervention is the best medicine when it comes to
computers.It's a reallt good idea for you to invest
in a good libruary of anti virus related software and
make as many back up files as you can.

You should also turn off your computer when it's not
in use.Not only dose it save on electric it saves
whear and tear on the computer from heated circuit
boards and dust collected as a result of ionization
of the circuit board that acts like a dust magnet.

Every six months you should crack open the case
and give it a good vacume.Be shure that you lable
every thing so you can remember where it goes
when you put it back together.

A really good way of preventing your computer from
virus attacks is to install a simple on/off switch on the
telephone inline that connects to your computer.When
you want to use the internet put the switch in the ON
position.When your not using the internet put it in the
OFF position.Just make shure that the telephone and
answering machineis are connected to the direct line
and not to the output line of the computer.

LOW COST THINGS TO DO FOR FUN

Without some kind of entertainment you will find that
things start to get more difficult.Your over processing
things in your mind and making things more difficult than
they need to be.The function of entertainment is a tool
because it helps you to relive stress and unwind.Rather than

CANDLE MAKING

If you have some old melted candles somewhere around
your house you can make some pretty cool things from
them with a little creativity and emagination.

Put the candle scraps inside the tin can and put the can on
the oven range on a low setting and let the wax set until it is
melted all the way.Use an oven mit or a rag to remove the
can from the range because it will be extremely hot.
Carefully pour the wax into the shot glass untill it is filled
half way to the top.Tape the small pebble to a piece of
cotton string and let the pebble end fall into the shot glass
while holding the other end with your fingers.Tape the free
end to the center of the pen then rest the pen on the top of
the shot glass and tape the ends that touch the glass to the
glass then let the wax cool.when the wax is semisolid
transfer the shot glass to the freezer and let it set for a half
an hour.Once the wax is completely cooled remove it from
the refridgerator then place it on the counter top.You will
notice a dip in the center of the candle.Put the can of wax
back on the range and heat it on a low setting until the wax
is completely melted and then remove the wax can from the
range and carefully pour the melted wax into the shot glass
until it is full.Let the wax cool to semisolidification and
insert into freezer unit .Set for half an hour and remove
from glass.

PROCESS 2

Sculpt a piece of modeling clay into a desired shape or
design then place in the freezer.make a small box using a
piece of cardboard and tape the edges of the box.Mix the
plaster of paris and pour it into the box then place the
sculpted design into the box halfway.

It would make it easier to remove the sculpture if you spray
pam or cooking oil on the modeling clay in a light
coat.Once the plaster has set make another box for the top
and fill it with plaster then the other box with the sculpture
in it should be flipped around so the sculpture is faceing
down and placed ontop of the new box.

Once the plaster is dry in the top and bottom parts of the
mould remove the sculpture and the outer layer of card
board.Determine where you would like to place the wick
then bore a hole into the plaster in the shape of a funnel.
This is where the wax will be poured into the mould.
Use a rubber band or a piece of tape and tightly secure the
top and bottom of the mould together then pour the wax
into the funnel shaped opening.Tape a pebble to the end of
a piece of cotton string and drop it into the opening of the
mould.It is easier to make the opening in a place where the
top and bottom of the mould join but this isn't always
possible to do unless for thought is in play and the
sculpture is set in a way that it can be feasable.

PAINTING MIRUALS

First make an enlarged black & white photo copy of the
subject material let's say a cartoon.Now use some wood
ash and smear it on the back of the photo copy to make
it a crude form of carbon paper then tape it over the ariea
you want the mirual to be.Now carefully trace it and
remove the photo copy when you are done.Now paint
it with a cheap water color paint set or you can use
colored markers. Paint the solid colors first then shade it in.

A cheap wine can be made with very little ingredience in a

blueberrys,watermellon,black berrys,mulberrys,cranberrys,
cherrys and pumpkin.cinimon and mint are great flavorings

maker of the wine to decide how much or how little to add

CLEANING YOUR HOME
There are many reasons why it's a good idea to keep
everything clean and functional and in like new condition.

The most important reason is for your own health and safty
as well as the health and safty of others.It's also rewarding
to have a well maintained,clean and organized home to live
in.

For the cost of a few cleanig chemicals and a little time you
save money in the long run because it is less likely that you
would have to replace the items you have.

It is also less likely that you would become sick from the
germs and bacteria or injured from an item that was
improperly maintained.

I will help you go through a room by room order of
cleaning tecniques and helpful tips to organize and save
money.

Fallow the directions the best you can and take your time.
You could clean and organize one room a day after work
then after the worst of it is taken care of fallow through by
just keeping it organized and giving it a quick cleaning
every Sunday or every other Sunday when you've got the
time.

KETCHEN

The ketchen is probibly the most difficult to clean of all the
rooms in your home.There are many places that dirt can
collect.

oven

Generally if you spray on a thick coat of oven cleaner and
let it set for a few hours it will be easy to wipe down but
the smell is enough to make you gag.If you decide to use
oven cleaner then get out of there as soon as your done and
go do something else.For the large chunks of food use a
spatula and scrape it out.if it's still stuck on use a paint
remover blade or streight razor and carefully scrape under
the stuck on piece.For any remaining food use a scrubby
pad and wipe with pressure moving in circle motions then
wipe the remaining grease with a sponge.

For the oven racks soak them in the sink and clean them
with a wire brush or steel wool to get the worst of it off first
then wipe it down with a sponge.

refridgerator

To clean a refridgerator use regular dish soap and a bucket
of clean hot water.Remove all food items from the
refridgerator and put them in a polystirene cooler to keep
them from thawing out too much.Use a scrubby pad and

free up any food stuck to the bottom of the fridge.Once this
is done wipe down the surfaces with a sponge rinsing
frequently with the hot soapy water and rinse it down using
a wet towl to clean off remaining soap residue.To disinfect
the refridgerator surface that may retain oder use isoprople
alcohol and apply it to the surface with an old
T shirt or a rag.

floors

For heavily stained floors use bleach to remove the stains.
Full strenth vinigar works too.Apply directly on the stain
and let it set for a few hours.after the stain has been
removed wipe away the bleach then mop.For heavily
greasy arieas use degreaser.

cabinets

Use a little degreaser to wipe off the really caked on grease
then use furniture polish to clean the wood surfaces.
Use glass cleaner to clean any glass surfaces,metal surfaces
or mirrored surfaces.

SINK

use glass cleaner on the faucets to give them a nice shine
for the sink use degreaser and a scowering pad then wipe it
down with a sponge.If theres any rust use sand paper or a
wire brush to scrub it off.

COUNTER TOPS

Use degreaser and a scowering pad and clear everything off
the counter before you start to clean.Wipe off any excess
degreaser with a sponge and water.For wooden countertops
furniture polish will make your counter look nice.For
formica countertops armor all will make it sine like new.

MICROWAVE

Use a sponge and degreaser to clean the entire thing.
Remove the microwave tray or plate and wash it with the
dishes.

DISHES

I recomend washing the dishes by hand instead of in the
dishwasher to save money on electric.To make washing
dishes easier instead of using a sponge use a cheap pair of
cotton work gloves from places like the dollar store or a
discount store.For stuck on food let the dishes soak over
night..Be shure to scrape out as much as you can before
you soak them to make it easier for the water to soften the
stuck on food.You should do the big dishes first to get them
