2. • Rovio Entertainment Ltd. is a Finnish computer game
developer founded in 2003 as Relude, and in 2005 renamed
as Rovio, based in Espoo. Nokia is also headquartered in
Keilaniemi, Espoo, along with other high-tech companies
such as KONE,Tekla and Fortum.
• In January 2005, Relude received its first round of
investment from a business angel, and the company changed
its name to Rovio Mobile.
• The first game developed by the trio, King of the Cabbage
World, was sold to Sumea (now Digital Chocolate), and
renamed to Mole War, which became the first commercial
real-time multiplayer mobile game in the world.

4. • Rovio Mobile has raised $42 million in its first round of funding with
Atomico Ventures, run by Skype founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus
Friis and venture capital groups Accel Partners and Felicis Ventures its
primary backers.
• Rovio acquired leading Finnish animation studio Kombo in June 2011 to
focus their production efforts entirely on Rovio properties.
5. Angry Birds is a puzzle video game developed by
Rovio Mobile.

Jonas Koivula is the first finnish
champion of angry birds.
6. • Angry Birds was made by a team of four people and took eight months to
finish because it was such a low priority for the company.
• Angry Birds fans include public figures as diverse as David Cameron, Paul
Gascoigne, Kylie Minogue, Conan O’Brien and Jon Hamm, Mad Men’s
Don Draper.
• Author Salman Rushdie calls himself ‘something of a master’ at 'Angry Birds.'
• Peter Vesterbacka, Rovio's official spokesman, has the job title 'Mighty
Eagle’.
• Speaking of unusual titles, one of Rovio's game testers was nicknamed the
'Rovio Killer' because he was so bad at their games.
• Wheres My Water, the new mobile game from Walt Disney,
stars Swampy, an alligator who lives in an underground sewer.
Following its Sept.22 release, Wheres My Water quickly jumped
to the top of the Apple App Stores paid applications chart,
displacing the record setting Angry Birds game from the No.1
spot for three weeks.
