2. INTRODUCTION
2.0
The SMC identity guidelines introduced and
explained in this PDF are designed to help you
produce communications that represent SMC
accurately, and in formats that provide a
consistent visual image for the brand.
SMC identity system is comprised of specially
designed pieces that visually communicate
the company. It is made up of original artwork
that must never be modified, redrawn,
or altered in any way. Even the slightest
deviation from these visual standards may
cause harm to the recognisability of the brand.
For consistent results, always use the
approved electronic logos available from
George Zervos or Brigitte Strasser

4. THE SMC LOGO
4.0
The SMC logo is a visual representation of the
company. Its mark is made up of specific and
unique elements which work together to create
a logo that is the cornerstone of our visual
identity.
The elements of the logo are identified below
for reference throughout this guide
company name
signature
5. COLOUR
5.0
REPRODUCTION OF THE SMC LOGO IN
2-COLOUR AND 4-COLOUR
Colour usage is a very critical part of
maintaining the SMC visual image. Two specific
colour Pantone 647 and Process Black have
been chosen to represent the SMC identity. The
SMC logo is always reproduced in these two
colours. For 4-colour process reproduction use
the specified CMYK formula as shown below.
PANTONE 647 PROCESS BLACK
CMYK formula:
Cyan: 94%
Magenta: 43%
Yellow: 0
Black: 38%

REPRODUCTION OF THE SMC LOGO IN ONE
COLOUR AND BLACK AND WHITE
Whenever possible, the two-colour reproduction
for the SMC logo is the preferred version. For
black and white or one-colour reproduction see
the the version shown below.
Reversed
black and white or 1-colour
7. SPACE
7.0
CLEAR SPACE
In order to protect the integrity and ensure the
prominence of the SMC logo it is necessary to
always allow a sufficient amount of clear space
surrounding the logo.
SIZE
SIZE RESTRICTIONS
Recognisability of the SMC logo is important in
every usage. Therefore, it is recommended that
the logo never be reproduced smaller than 10mm
in height. If you encounter a specific need for a
smaller usage, please contact George Zervos or
Brigitte Strasser to discuss.
The logo should not be reproduced smaller than
10mm in height.
SCALING THE LOGO
Whenever the logo is scaled, the width and the
height must be scaled equally. This will prevent
any distortion in the appearance of the logo.
8. USAGE
8.0
BACKGROUND CONTROL
When placing the logo, look for the best
opportunity to maximise its readability and
impact. If possible, choose backgrounds that are
white, light or low contrast. Below are examples
of preferred background use.
A white or light background is preferred
for the logo
On a dark or solid background the reversed
logo is to be used
Below are examples of background treatments
to avoid.
Not enough contrast from the background
Poor position over a photo, not ideal
background, too much contrast
9. STATIONERY

SMC STATIONERY SYSTEM
The SMC Letterhead, Business Card and
Compliment Slip, are designed to be one of the
primary means of projecting a corporate image
and identity on a daily basis. Therefore, it is
imperative that these pieces maintain a standard
and consistent look throughout the company.
COLOURS
STATIONERY items should always be printed in
spot colours using the Pantone colour matching
system.
