1. I’ve got all my partners
with me!
September 2011 saw the
start of a new era for St.
Faith’s. For the first time in
our school’s life an official
European partnership was
created with schools from
Poland, Italy, Spain and
Turkey. Even tough they
weren’t sure what to expect,
everyone in the school
community embraced the 1-2-
3 Health project with
excitement and anticipation.
Somehow, a year has almost
gone by. It went so quickly we
must have been having fun!!
There are plenty of success
stories to be proud of. The
Christmas cards that children
made to the partner
countries were done with
love, care and lots of
excitement. Healthy packed
lunches were re-introduced
to the school as a reminder to
the most “forgetful” parents and
children. A celebration of
European culture took place in all
classrooms, enjoyed by all
children in our school. An
increasingly mindful school
community has been discussing
environmental issues, thereby
becoming more responsible for
their “world”.
Just when we thought we’d
already achieved our best this
year, the Comenius UK Meeting
came along and proved us
completely wrong!
By welcoming new partners into
our community we became not
only more aware and tolerant of
other cultures, but crucially
much more united within our own
school. The UK Meeting gave us
the opportunity to showcase
what we do best at St. Faith’s,
which is to work closely and
respectfully together as a team.
Staff, children and parents
worked tirelessly to prepare a
fantastic experience for our
special visitors! Everyone was
extremely excited to finally
meet some of the people they
had been communicating with
throughout the year, maybe
even say a few things in their
languages. More parents started
asking about the project and
wanted to know more about it.
That’s when we knew the
project was officially a success
at St. Faith’s and that’s why we
chose this as our success story!
Our visitors, in return,
presented us with a world of
knowledge and ideas that we had
never thought of. They listened
to us and showed interest in our
Education system. They kindly
asked and answered any
questions children and adults
wanted to ask them. They
quickly became part of the St.
Faith’s community, helping with
Crown Competitions and even
tidying up after the Jubilee
party. It was Civic Health at its
best!
Our visitors became our family
and it was brilliant to have
them all with us!

activities were our best
implementation during the
project year. Through these
activities we aimed to make
cultural exchange with our
partners. Although we are a
crowded school (1250 students)
the variety of activities gave us a
chance to involve almost
everyone in that big organisation.
Some of the teachers tried
different recipe from Spain
(Marzipan) , Italy (Bread
Cake ) , Poland (Ginger bread
Cake ) and UK( Christmas
Muffins) with their classses in
February . We tasted those
delicious recipes made by our
students ‘ skillful hands.
Another group performed
sample folk dances of each
partner country and We had fun
during these activities and
parties.
Some of our colleagues played
traditional games with their
students as the weather was
warm enough in the school
garden. We recognised that
although our languages are
different , the language of the
games is the same everywhere .
We also saw that some of our
games are common.
We prepared presentations
about each partner school and
their local area . Posters were
displayed all over the school . By
the help of these presentations
our awernesses increased, and
our knowledge developed.
Thanks to our project “1-2-3
Health”, we had the opportunity
to know each partner country
more and we broadened our
horizon. We already feel
ourselves as a member of the
European Union family now.

One of the most involving activities we organised during this school
year have been about healthy food : first a clil activity about food
and second A HEALTHY BREAKFAST AT SCHOOL organised by
parents.
The aim of the clil activity has been to understand why food is
important for a healthy life style and the difference between junk
and healthy food. The teaching unit took 4-5 hours long and in the
end children produced wall posters and a brochure for all families.
To finalise this work we put on the event “A HEALTHY BREAKFAST AT SCHOOL”.
All parents prepared a rich self service in the school canteen with every sort of healthy proper
food children can usually eat during the school break in the morning. Fruit, juices, milk, dairy
product, home made cakes, biscuits, jam, cheese have been delivered and consumed by children who

Since September 2012, as we
have been participating in an
international Comenius project
“1-2-3Health”our school
organised many exciting events
to help us understand our
countries, needs and feelings.
One of the most absorbing and
spectacular ventures, prepared
by our students during this
school year was “A European
Day”.
The main goal of this acivity
was to realize the differences
and the common qualities
between our countries. Each
class, at our school has chosen
one of the participating in this
Comenius project country. They
were all dressed in traditional
Presidents. They paid attention
to traditional dances, meals,
habits and believes in each
country. They also wanted to
teach us some new words in
each language, like: Buenas
noches, Buon giorno, Merhaba,
Good Morning.

harmony.
At our school,
one example of
that especial
moment was
last May 18th
, when we decided
to take part in the Big Dance
2012. there were two big aims
for this activity: civic health and
personal health.
This activity introduced the
school to Britain’s Olympic games
and to the imminent trip to
London and thus, helped us to
both introduce the British culture
and to work on healthy habits
through sports and dance.
Every single child took part as
well as the teachers. The trainee
teachers prepared the
When we decided to start a
Comenius Project we were not
really aware of all the implica-
tions it had. We just had the
need to share and demonstra-
te that teachers are more than
people who teach, but creative
people willing to learn and de-
velop as professionals and as
citizens. We wanted to do of
our job a career and of our life
an adventure
Being Comenius means that the
isolation of the teacher within a
class full of students vanishes to
give way to a broader world of
possibilities full of people like
you that want to work in
teams because this way bigger
and nicer things can be done.
Being Comenius means feeling
so full of pride whenever you
and your partners arrange an
activity or an event and
magically everybody, no
matter how different they are,
seems to agree on something
choreography and showed it to
the students. At two o’clock on
18 may the show started and
somehow everything was simply
perfect, everybody knew his/her
part and performed perfectly
well.
What is more, we all knew that in
many other parts of the world
there were people doing the
same thing at the same time and
that meant that we could enter
the Guinness book of records!!!
Every class got the School pledge
certificate to prove their
participation.
However, that was not
important, because eventually,
what really matters is the
individual feeling of belonging
and the important lesson that we
all learnt was that together we
can do many BIG DANCES in our
life.

That day brought a lot of happiness, joy and smiles on
pupils’ faces. That activity led them to share their
knowledge about European countries, improve their
creativity and it showed our students’ involvement in
Comenius project realization.
