2. Gantt Chart
A gantt chart is a list of tasks with when they will be started and
completed. This is a useful tool to plan when you do your pre-
production, production and post-production.
3. Story Boards
A storyboard it a shot by shot breakdown of your video with key
information on camera movement, screen action, lighting and
sound. I used this to plan your production and refer back to when
shooting.
4. Script
A scrip is a write up of all dialog in your video. I used this to plan
dialog so that actors know what to say.
5. shooting Script
A shooting script combines the dialogue script with camera
movement, scene numbers, screen action and extra information on
the character. I used this to plan shots in order of when you shoot
them.
6. Proposal
A proposal is a document made to pitch an idea for approval.
It will contain information like; where did your idea come
from(research)?, what techniques are used within the video?, Who
is the target audience?, A break down of the video, Technically how
are you going to produce the video? and How other elements will
impact your video eg. use of sound tracks and sound effects, colour
correction, special effects and motion graphics? I used this to show
your client what your plan is.
7. Location release form
This is a legal binding document that passes the copyright of
materials recorded to your production company in accordance
with the Copyright Design and patents Act of 1988. (giving you
permission to film in your chosen location)
8. Risk Assessment
A risk assessment is a grid of potential hazards and methods for
avoiding
9. Overhead diagram
A birds eye view (architects like) diagram of your scene/studio
using symbols for cameras, characters and elements.
10. Requirements
Requirements are a list of resources you will need from Crew,
camera persons and equipment, shotgun mics to Props and
hardware need for post production.
11. Budget
A budget is a Break down of cost to produce your video from
renting the camera to the use of a location for filming.
12. Release Agreement
This is a legal binding document that passes the copyright of
materials recorded to your production company in accordance
with the Copyright Design and patents Act of 1988.
13. Call Sheet
A plan for a days production sheet. Containing info on who is
required, where to meet, weather, transport, equipment for that
day and general arrangements.
14. Contact Sheet
A list of people involved in your project with contact details. eg,
Producer, director...
15. Footage Log
A log of the location and source of all resources used within a
project from sound clip to font to logo/image.
16. EDL (edit decision list)
This is a mix between the Footage log and your storyboard joining
the shots with the timecode and tape number to form a full paper
edit of your video.
