Note difference between sysstat on cent os 5 & 6
It is a reference that summarizes the differences in behavior of iostat and sar.
Please be careful about specification change because it contains a major part of the statistics.
sarやiostatの動作の違いについてまとめた資料です。
メモリ、ディスク、ネットワークなど、主要な部分で仕様変更がぼちぼち入っているのでお気をつけくださいませ。
4. Interval & Count
• Sysstat 7.0.2
• If its value is set to zero, then reports are
generated continuously. (ex: sar -A 1 0)
• Sysstat 9.0.4
• If the interval parameter is specified without
the count parameter, then reports are
generated continuously. ( ex: sar -A 1)

6. Disk
• Sysstat 7.0.2
• -d, iostat: Displays statistics for block
devices and all their partitions.
• Sysstat 9.0.4
• -dp: pretty-print block devices and LVM
volumes but no partitions are displayed
• iostat -p: The -p option displays statistics for
block devices and all their partitions

7. Network
• Sysstat 7.0.2
• -n DEV
• Displays network traffic in byte/s (ex:
rxbyt/s, rxbyt/s)
• Sysstat 9.0.4
• -n DEV
• Displays network traffic in kB/s (ex: rxkB/
s, txkB/s)

8. Binary output incompatibility
• -o output_file: create a binary output file.
• Sysstat 7.0.2
• The output file includes a part of
statistics. Disk statistics are not
included. So you should also specify “-
d” or “-A” option.
• Sysstat 9.0.4
• The output file includes all of statistics
without any additional options.

9. Binary output incompatibility
• Incompatibility
• You can’t read (using “-f” option) sysstat
7.0.2’s binary output by sysstat 9.0.4 and
reverse of this is also correct
• You have to convert the binary output file
into text output by the same version when it
was created.
