1. Our school Our school is situated on Galatsi, a district of Athens. It was founded in 1989. There are 2 7 teachers and 250 students. In September of 2004 our school moved to a new building. The new premises are small so we have lack of class rooms. The age of our students is between 15-18 years old. Our lyceum is a school of general education; the studies last for three years and its graduates after examinations enter university or technical colleges. The scale of marks is from 0 up to 20. The program of the school lasts seven hours per day with intermediary small breaks. We start lesson at 8.15 in the morning and finish at 2.00 in the afternoon A serious problem of our education is that the students of the second and the third year often have extra private lessons in order to succeed in entering university .Thus our students do not have enough free time to deal with other activities . Nevertheless, many times our school organises environmental and cultural programs, excursions with environmental content. This is the third time where our school participates to the Comenius program. Notre lycée Notre lycée est situe a Galatsi une région a’Athènes. Il a été fonde le 1989 .En Septembre de 2004 notre lycée a déménage a un autre bâtiment neuf. Il s’agit d’un lycée a’une petite dimension,fait qui nous pose un problème assez aigu d’organisation de nos classes d’élèves. Il y a 2 7 enseignants et environ 250 élèves. Leur âge est entre 15 a 18 ans. Leur éducation dure 3 ans et après la terminale ils doivent passer l’examen national pour pouvoir rentrer a la Faculté .L’ horaire scolaire est de 7 heures par jour avec des recréations entre les matières.(de 8am a 14.00pm). Un problème crucial dans notre système éducatif est qu ;il incite les élèves a prendre des leçons privées chez eux ,afin de pouvoir réussir a l’examen de la terminale. C’est pourquoi ces élevés ont très peu de temps libre n’ont pas facilement la possibilité de participer a des activités en dehors du programme scolaire. Malgré tout notre lycée participe souvent a des programmes concernant la protection de l’environnement,et l’ héritage culturel.. C’est la 3eme fois que notre lycée a été élu dans un programme Comenius. http://3lyk-galats.att.sch.gr

5. Galatsi ,in the past In the middle of 1905 Galatsi started to be inhabited. The first dwellers were occupied with agriculture. In 1927, its population started to grow , Galatsi became a big village. Its inhabitants worked in factories, lime kilns and quarries at “Tourkovounia” . There were a lot of quarries. The rocks of this area were used to build modern Athens Galatsi, dans le passé C’est juste an 1905 que Galatsi a commence a se peupler . Les premiers habitants s’occupaient de l’agriculture. En 1927 la population a augmente et Galatsi est devenu un grand village. Les habitants travaillaient dans des entreprises de fabrication du chaux (fours à chaux), dans les carrières de pierres des collines Tourkobounia .

6. Omorphoklissia Up to 1860 the municipality of Galatsi was an uninhabited and rural area that had as a characteristic a small church from the Byzantine era which is called “Omorphoklissia”. That little church , known to the older people with the name of Saint George , is one of the few Byzantine monuments that are saved today and is marked for its beauty and elegance. Omorfoklissia : une église byzantine dans notre région. Jusque au 1860 la communauté de Galatsi était inhabité et gardait son caractère rural aux environs d’une petite église byzantine dédie a st Georges. .C’est un des rares monument byzantin d’une grande beauté et élégance..
