1. Content: water cycle
Language: lexis related to weather
Grammar: present simple, interrogative forms
Skills – listening and writing
2. Try to describe this picture with your
classmates!
Why is the lake
water fresh?
Where does the
rain come from?
Why is the sea
water salted?
Does the water stay
always in the lake?
What is the
sun role?
3. Evaporation:
Heat from the Sun causes water on Earth (in oceans, lakes
etc) to evaporate (turn from liquid into gas) and rise into
the sky. This water vapor collects in the sky in the form
of clouds.
Transpiration:
In a process similar to sweating, plants lose water which is
absorbed into the atmosphere much like evaporation.
The combination of evaporation and transpiration is
known as evapotranspiration.
Condensation:
As water vapor in the clouds cools down it becomes water
again.
Precipitation:
Water falls from the sky in the form of rain, snow and hail.
Collection / Infiltration:
When water falls back to earth as precipitation, it may fall
back in the oceans, lakes or rivers or it may end up on
land. When it ends up on land, it will either soak into
the earth and become part of the “ground water” that
plants and animals use to drink or it may run over the
soil and collect in the oceans, lakes or rivers where the
cycle starts all over again.

_______.
Increases
Decreases
Stays the same

The water that was around when dinosaurs roamed the Earth:
Is gone, and has been for a long time
Is about halfway gone
Is the same water we use today
Would be really dirty if it were still around
6.
Once water makes it all the way through the water cycle, the water ________.
Starts the cycle over again
Has beaten that cycle and moves on to a more advanced cycle Is done with its journey
Can take a break for awhile
