How do I upload a PowerPoint Presentation to SlideShare and then embed it in Blackboard
This Document will:
This support document will walk you through how to upload your Powerpoint presentation to SlideShare and
then embed the presentation into your BlackBoard course.
Getting Started:
The steps include:
o Upload your PowerPoint to SlideShare
o Embed the presentation in Blackboard.
Upload to SlideShare:
Access SlideShare at http://www.slideshare.com
Create your account
In the upper right corner of the screen, click Sign Up.
Click Join now.
Check your email and click the confirmation link to confirm your account. Click Skip this on the next 2 screens.
Upload your file
2. Click Browse and select files to upload your file.
To find your presentations, click the down arrow next to your name and choose my uploads.
Remember the name of your presentation so that you can link to it in BlackBoard.
Embed the Presentation in BlackBoard
There are two ways you can link to your PowerPoint in BlackBoard:
1. Create an item that contains the embedded PPT
2. Embed the PowerPoint in any text box
Create an item that contains the embedded PPT
3. Log on to BlackBoard and go to your course.
Click the menu button for the section of the course in which you want to put your PowerPoint, for example
Course Materials or Assignments.
Click Build Content/ SlideShare Presentation
Type the name of your presentation in the Search field and click Go.
Any presentation with that name will appear. Select your own by clicking Select.
4. On the next screen you can add a description containing directions for students, customize what data shows
about the item, attach another file and set dates for availability. When you are done, click Submit.
6. Embed the PowerPoint in any text box Another way to embed a PowerPoint presentation is within
any text box. This is the option that students use to upload a PowerPoint
Text boxes occur in Discussion Forums, Blogs, Journals and Wikis.
In the text box, click the Create Mashup icon.
Then click SlideShare Presentation.
The Search for SlideShare Presentation screen appears. Complete it in the same way you completed it for a
content item: Type the name of your presentation in the Search field and click Go.
Any presentation with that name will appear. Select your own by clicking Select.
8. Add any text you wish and click Submit.
