8. Rivers
Brunei culture is very closely tied
with the rivers and seas around
them. The stories like the boy who
was cursed by his mother, their
ways of fishing and crabbing and
the fact that they live on or next
to the rivers which supply their
food and drink.

Bruneian culture
includes weaving.
The weaving can be
simple designs like
the cloth sample or
the intricate
patterns on the
traditional wedding
dresses.
Weaving can be hard work
especially because it takes
a long time to make even
just 1meter of cloth with
any design.

10. Solutions to preserving heritage
Due to modernity, machines have now replaced most of the
old traditions of hand making the cloth as machines are fast
and efficient. The traditional methods are laborious and
and inefficient and hence many people favor machines to
hand making cloth. So, if we want to preserve the at of
weaving, there are a few possible ways to do so.
11. Solutionsthe art from
One way is to practice and learn
experienced professionals.
Secondly, we could set up weaving clubs at our schools
so as to encourage and publicize the traditional way of
weaving.
Thirdly, the most important reason that we need to
preserve culture is because culture is part of our
ancestors’ rituals. This is respectful to them and helps
us to become a better person through cultivating of
moral values.
