PROBLEM STATEMENT
A college student needs extra equipping in boosting his confidence
because academics and skills alone are not sufficient in ensuring a good first job experience.
Fifty Idea Generation
1.Include practical career trainings in the colleges
2.Annual job fairs
3.Organize summits focusing on success stories of young professionals
4.Include a course in personal development
5.Public speaking seminars for students
6.More presentation-type projects for graduating kids
7.Have a mock-interview in classes
8.Organize retreats for students to embrace their true self
9.Counseling courses to help students deal with failures
10.Colleges should have a something like a professionalism code for senior
students

11.Teachers should be generous in their praises, constructive in their criticisms
12.Report cards can have an ‘Areas to Improve’ section
13.Colleges can adapt a mentoring system to help promote individuality
14.Students may apply in groups to a company to support each other during
interviews
15.OJTs can be recorded and evaluated by the school, company and the student
16.Colleges should have stricter admission in making sure students apply to a
degree where they have the potential to excel
17.There can be a Company Laboratory subject where students can have a feel of
what its like to have a boss, and clients, meetings etc
18.Colleges may issue a ‘professional attire’ day in a week
19.Allow inclusion of seminars attended in school in the resume
20.Provide leadership trainings to college students

21. Have more group works, group presentations in school to prepare them to
relate well to soon colleagues
22. Schedule a tour to different hiring companies
23. Provide opportunity for college students to interview employers for
expectations prior their actual job interviews
24. Have a regular peer evaluation to help students learn from each other
25. Have a regular character studies to inspire students to grow personally
26.Have a public speaking training and opportunities
27.Every professor should be inspiring and help motivate students
28.Provide spiritual guidance to students
29.Engage students in debates to help them make a stand for themselves
30.Train students in areas of discipline and patience

31. Have students grade themselves based on their weekly improvement
32. Hone speaking skills through the numerous oral exams
33. Help the students make personal goals
34. Inspire students on how their every performance can build a better nation
35. Companies should schedule at least 3 meetings with student applicants before
accepting or turning them down
36. Companies should provide each student an objective evaluation of their
application
37. Companies should provide continuity from taking students as interns to
actually hiring them
38. Companies should initiate rapport with student. Not applying intimidation.
39. Companies assure students they have no biases/discriminations
40. What if more companies make their own colleges!

41. What if there’s a one week probation for student applicants in a company to
give them a chance to prove themselves
42. What if actual hiring starts on the final year of college students so that
teachers can still assist students on how to cope in the workplace
43. Watch videos of the workplace set up, even job interviews
44. Parents support
45. Encourage students to apply to more than three companies
46. Schools should be at par with the expectations of the companies
47. Colleges should maintain high excellence standard for their students
48. Also give seminars on failure stories, and how they managed to cope
49. Prepare students on a list of options in case their first tries fail
50. Regularly pray with the students.

1.The most practical idea (one that could be easily implemented):
“Include a course in personal development.”
Practical because it can easily be organized in a college set-up. It
can either be a separate subject or a required elective. And the result can
be immediate.

regardless of how feasible or affordable it is)
“What if more companies make their own colleges!”
Wouldn’t it be easier if companies mold their own people
according to their specifications. That way, students will not have to go
through the limiting process and possible failure of job interviews??

  • 1. IDEATE by Sheila Von Dalay PROBLEM STATEMENT A college student needs extra equipping in boosting his confidence because academics and skills alone are not sufficient in ensuring a good first job experience.
  • 2. Fifty Idea Generation 1.Include practical career trainings in the colleges 2.Annual job fairs 3.Organize summits focusing on success stories of young professionals 4.Include a course in personal development 5.Public speaking seminars for students 6.More presentation-type projects for graduating kids 7.Have a mock-interview in classes 8.Organize retreats for students to embrace their true self 9.Counseling courses to help students deal with failures 10.Colleges should have a something like a professionalism code for senior students

Fifty Idea Generation 11.Teachers should be generous in their praises, constructive in their criticisms 12.Report cards can have an ‘Areas to Improve’ section 13.Colleges can adapt a mentoring system to help promote individuality 14.Students may apply in groups to a company to support each other during interviews 15.OJTs can be recorded and evaluated by the school, company and the student 16.Colleges should have stricter admission in making sure students apply to a degree where they have the potential to excel 17.There can be a Company Laboratory subject where students can have a feel of what its like to have a boss, and clients, meetings etc 18.Colleges may issue a ‘professional attire’ day in a week 19.Allow inclusion of seminars attended in school in the resume 20.Provide leadership trainings to college students
  • 4. Fifty Idea Generation 21. Have more group works, group presentations in school to prepare them to relate well to soon colleagues 22. Schedule a tour to different hiring companies 23. Provide opportunity for college students to interview employers for expectations prior their actual job interviews 24. Have a regular peer evaluation to help students learn from each other 25. Have a regular character studies to inspire students to grow personally 26.Have a public speaking training and opportunities 27.Every professor should be inspiring and help motivate students 28.Provide spiritual guidance to students 29.Engage students in debates to help them make a stand for themselves 30.Train students in areas of discipline and patience
  • 5. Fifty Idea Generation 31. Have students grade themselves based on their weekly improvement 32. Hone speaking skills through the numerous oral exams 33. Help the students make personal goals 34. Inspire students on how their every performance can build a better nation 35. Companies should schedule at least 3 meetings with student applicants before accepting or turning them down 36. Companies should provide each student an objective evaluation of their application 37. Companies should provide continuity from taking students as interns to actually hiring them 38. Companies should initiate rapport with student. Not applying intimidation. 39. Companies assure students they have no biases/discriminations 40. What if more companies make their own colleges!
  • 6. Fifty Idea Generation 41. What if there’s a one week probation for student applicants in a company to give them a chance to prove themselves 42. What if actual hiring starts on the final year of college students so that teachers can still assist students on how to cope in the workplace 43. Watch videos of the workplace set up, even job interviews 44. Parents support 45. Encourage students to apply to more than three companies 46. Schools should be at par with the expectations of the companies 47. Colleges should maintain high excellence standard for their students 48. Also give seminars on failure stories, and how they managed to cope 49. Prepare students on a list of options in case their first tries fail 50. Regularly pray with the students.
  • 7. Three Idea Selection 1.The most practical idea (one that could be easily implemented): “Include a course in personal development.” Practical because it can easily be organized in a college set-up. It can either be a separate subject or a required elective. And the result can be immediate.
  • 8. Three Idea Selection 2. The most disruptive idea (one that would make a huge impact, regardless of how feasible or affordable it is) “What if more companies make their own colleges!” Wouldn’t it be easier if companies mold their own people according to their specifications. That way, students will not have to go through the limiting process and possible failure of job interviews??
