Muhammed Ali - Andrew J.
1. Muhammad Ali was a great African American hero. He was the greatest boxer and he used
his fame to help people.
He was born in 1942 and his birth name was Cassius Clay. He started boxing at age 14. He
had 100 wins and only 8 losses. He was only 18 and went to the Olympics. He won a gold
medal for boxing. After the Olympics he became Muslim and changed his name to Muhammed
Ali.
He went pro after he was Muslim and he had 56 wins, 37 knockouts, and 5 losses.
Muhammed Ali used his fame to help others. There were 15 people held hostage and Muhammed
Ali used his fame to talk to the person holding them hostage to let them go. He has donated
millions of dollars to individuals and institutions, regardless of race or religion. That's what I
learned about Muhammed Ali.
