organized banking entity took as its name Imperial Bank of India.
ļ¶Pursuant to the provisions of the State Bank of India Act of 1955, the
Reserve Bank of India, which is India's central bank, acquired a controlling
interest in the Imperial Bank of India. On April 30, 1955, the Imperial Bank

units and other small operators. The amount of loans outstanding was

crores.
ļ¶SBI has also introduced Installment Credit schemes. It is designed to
assist the financing equipment or machinery used by small and medium
