7. We moved to Oak Ridge because of the awesome lots with great trees and not all the houses were the same. This last part was important - I had been looking for a home and in the Woodlands, it seemed that every 3-6 houses were the same build. Not what I wanted. And the neighbors here - WOW - what a friendly and inviting neighborhood. I was welcomed and just seemed to fit in. The community is great - especially the Police and Community Center. They will do anything to help you. 11. Oak Ridge is a very well-maintained, mature neighborhood with genuine, continued sense of community. We enjoy all of The Woodlands amenities right in our backyards (a huge plus without a mandatory, annual fee). It's very convenient to I-45 and the Hardy Toll Road (definitely not a 15-20 minute hike from the back of The Woodlands). Our community is very safe with minimal riff raff...the Oak Ridge Police Department consistently ranks in the Top 20 of ALL Police Departments in the State of Texas not to mention that they are always on top of their game as are the other OR City departments. 14. My favorite thing about Oak Ridge North is that we are our own city. Unlike the surrounding neighborhoods we have our own police department that patrols our city, as well as our own city management to see to the needs of the citizens. We feel safe here. During Hurricane Ike, we had a tree down in the back yard and the city sent a crew out to help us lift it back up. That wouldn’t have happened elsewhere.
