1. Question 2: How does your film
represent particular social groups?
2. Through out the film opening men were
represented in both traditional and modern
ways.
An slightly high angled mid shot was used
when the shooter was in the car, then it cut to
close up shot to show his emotions while
talking on the phone, non diegetic music was
playing in the background through out the
opening but it was lowered down so that we
can hear the dialogue, which seems to be an
order from someone. This suggest a modern
representation of men because through the
high angle and the dialogue it shows that the
was powerless in the situation.
In one of the scene, an establishing shot was
used to establish the setting and introduce a
character, the costume was based on modern
gangster. The establishing shot carried on as
he started to run away. This reinforces a
modern representation of men as it clearly
showed that he was scared and know what's
going to happen to him. A contrapuntal non
diegetic music was being played for the whole
of the opening.
3. In the boss scene, low angle mid shot was
used, this shows that he is in control and have
the power or the situation. Close up shot was
also used of his drink, over the shoulder shot
was also used to show what he was doing
(putting out his cigarette). This suggests that
he have nothing to worry or stress about as he
can just tell people to do things for him.
Mid shot was used to show a guy being tied up
and tortured by the boss, this suggests that he
is angry, aggressive and careless. Low level
lighting was used through out each of the boss
scene, this shows danger and that he is
mysterious as his face is not being shown in
any of the shot.
From the lighting and the shot types, it
reinforces a traditional representation of men
because it shows that he is aggressive,
dangerous and in power of the situation
because he can do anything and give people
order.
