The use of functional nano-metric easy-clean layers on material surfaces can reduce the dirt adsorption, facilitate dirt removal by rain, avoid dirt concentration /stripes and reduce cleaning efforts (longer intervals between cleaning and easier cleaning). OCAS, a Flemish steel research center has developed cost-competitive easy-clean coating layers that can be applied to a whole range of materials (painted metal, painted wood, plastics, glass, stone, and textile).

17. Summary
Durable easy clean(able) surfaces have been designed on various
construction materials with a predicted lifetime of more than 5 – 7 years
LANCAS specific easy-clean surface actively hinders the dirt pick-up by the
substrate, results in cleaner surfaces that are easier to clean.
The patented technology for LANCAS Easy-clean technology relies on a
flexible atmospheric process with a wide process window, allowing the use
on heat sensitive materials.
