Editor's Notes
Im going to do an introduction of the new products Apple is going to introduce in the next year. Its big money makers the iphone and ipad. Go over the advancements that could be possible from the existing and what these products will mean for Apples success in the years to come.
With this slide im planning on going into the possibility of what this could mean for potential profit for apple in the future as well as how it could cut into the profits of companies such as Amazon. Im going to touch on the fact that this was one of Steve Jobs ideas before he passed and how all the technology to come out of apple in recent years has still been influenced by him. Also could ibooks reach the popularity of something like itunes for apple in years to come
Tried to create and apple tv before but to no avail. Great dissapointment.
Now that Steve Jobs is just a memory at Apple HQ these days and Tim Cook is the present and future of Apple, the logical question is what’s next for Apple. We’ve visited what’s on deck this year, and within the next 3 but what could be in Apple’s future 5 years from now and beyond? As technology rises in popularity, it falls equally fast if not faster. As seen in these example all dubbed to be the “next big thing”
Apple has dominated the portable music player, tablet, and mobile phone industries, holding more than 50% of the market share in practically each category I feel they will expand into industries that are brand new or that haven’t ventured into in decades. Like what you may ask? With the possible introduction of a television and developers flocking to develop games for the Apple’s app store. I could see them entering the ring of a video game system. This wouldn’t be their first venture into the gaming realm. In 1996 amongst the hype of the Original Sony Playstation, Sega Saturn and the Nintendo 64, Apple Teamed up Bandai (Makers of Power Rangers) to produce the Pippin. It was part system, part computer and rated by many to be ahead of it’s time due to things having the ability to get on the internet. This also boasted titles like Marathon Durandal, which is the predecessor to the popular Halo franchise. It failed due to it being marketed as a video game console and while boasting a price tag of most computers at a time which was about double what consoles sold for in the 90’s. If they were to partner with a company with a better name Nintendo that might need the exposure Apple has, I think they could be quite successful. Another industry that Apple has made noteworthy progress in with iPhone is photography. According to flickr the iPhone was one of the most popularly used cameras used to upload photos even compared to popular DSLR cameras. According to many popular apple rumor mill sights, Apple has been taking out a lot of patents on camera related items like flashes. Another industry Apple dabbled in during the 90’s with the Apple Quicktake, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them take on a wide-open industry like the point and shoot camera market, especially being that the camera on the iPhone which is a supplementary part of the phone performs so well against that industry already. Imagine what Apple could develop with all their engineers designing a device with the only function being taking picture taking and plenty of capital to dump into the project.
Currently unlikely, but this would give Microsoft the capability to produce it’s own phones as the line could be completely transferred with the sale of ½ factories. This coupled with Windows 8’s enhanced capability with mobile devices in terms of touchscreens and networking capability hints at an attempt to gain more of the mobile device market share.
1. Streamlined business practices to reduce costs2. Continued support for current generation console instead of creating new one.
