This document discusses accessorizing ourselves with virtues as the bride of Christ. It encourages us to adorn ourselves with the belt of mercy, the purse of faith, deep pockets of forgiveness, the smartphone of peace, and the watch of self-control. These virtues honor God and allow his love and goodness to shine through us to the world as we await Christ's return. In conclusion, it encourages the reader to dress each day in righteousness as God's children and represent him well through our words and actions.
2. Now Accessorize
“I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul
rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me
with garments of salvation and arrayed me
in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom
adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride
adorns herself with jewels.” (Isaiah 61:10)
3. Now Accessorize
We are the bride of Christ, adorned for the
pleasure of the King of Kings. He held
nothing back. We are provided with
everything we need to adorn and
accessorize ourselves for his delight. He is
honored and blessed when we show off
the gifts he gives us. He wants the world
to see how wonderful and loving he is.
4. The Belt of Mercy
• “Be merciful, just as your Father is
merciful” (Luke 6:36)
• Compassion falls down without
mercy.
• Emulate the King
5. The Purse of Faith
• “For this very reason, make every effort to add to
your faith goodness; and to goodness,
knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and
to self-control, perseverance; and to
perseverance, godliness; and to godliness,
brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness,
love. For if you possess these qualities in
increasing measure, they will keep you from
being ineffective and unproductive in your
knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Peter
1:5-8).
6. The Purse of Faith
• Little girls carry empty purses.
• Teenagers carry a few items.
• After carrying a purse for a few decades, you
need wheels on it because it is so full.
• When you forget your purse you may suffer
without necessities, like your glasses.
• "But if anyone does not have them, he is
nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he
has been cleansed from his past sins." (2 Peter
1:9, NIV)
7. Deep Pockets of Forgiveness
• “Bear with each other and forgive
whatever grievances you may have
against one another. Forgive as the Lord
forgave you” (Col 3:13)
• We have deep pockets filled with
forgiveness. We need to reach in and
hand it out freely.
• Forgiveness is not based on the other
persons contrition or remorse.
8. Deep Pockets of Forgiveness
• Forgiveness reflects the goodness of God
to the world.
• God also knew something else. It is
important to good health.
• “A heart at peace gives life to the body”
Proverbs 14:30
• The physical benefits include: lower heart
rate; lower blood pressure; reduced
chronic pain; and less stress.
9. The Smartphone of Peace
• “Let the peace of Christ rule in your
hearts, since as members of one body you
were called to peace. And be thankful.”
(Colossians 3:15)
• God’s To Do List:
– Love the Lord Your God
– Love your neighbor as yourself
10. The Smartphone of Peace
• God’s address book: Whoever we come in
contact with.
• God’s schedule: Whatever he brings to our day.
• When we view life this way we are at peace.
• Jesus didn’t program his own agenda. Neither
should we.
• “You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind
is steadfast, because he trusts in you” (Isaiah
26:3)
11. The Watch of Self-Control
• “For the grace of God that brings salvation has
appeared to all men. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to
ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live
self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this
present age, while we wait for the blessed hope
—the glorious appearing of our great God and
Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to
redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for
himself a people that are his very own, eager to
do what is good.” (Titus 2:11-14)
12. The Watch of Self-Control
• Choose wisely
• Plan ahead
• Work hard, you are trying to accomplish
as much as possible before your deadline;
the glorious appearing of our great God
and Savior, Jesus Christ.
13. Conclusion
• Dress every day.
• Don’t wear your old stuff.
• Remember that you are a child of the King
and have not only the responsibility to
represent him, but also the privilege and
power that come with your position in
Christ.
