Essay On Larry Bird
Indiana loves its basketball. When driving throughout the state, basketball hoops are part of the
scenery, dotting thousands of barn doors, garage doors, and driveways along the way. Hoosiers are
passionate about this sport. In the book, Drive the Story of my Life, by Larry Bird with Bob Ryan,
talks about his life growing up in Indiana and his storied career as a basketball player. Bird was born
into a hard working, lower class family in West Baden Springs, Indiana. Throughout his life Larry
Bird was fueled by hard work and perseverance to become one of the greatest basketball players of
our time.
Hard work was instilled into Larry Bird from a young age. His family was not wealthy and his parents
worked two jobs trying to provide for their family of six. Larry Bird saw how hard they worked and

The Boston Celtics had 29 wins the season before they drafted Bird. The team improved by 32 games
to go 61 21 in Bird s first season. The main reason they won so many more games was because of
Larry Bird. Bird was not just a shooter, he was also a great passer and rebounder too, which in turn
made his teammates better as a whole. In his second year in the NBA, Bird and Celtics won the NBA
Championship against the Houston Rockets. Larry Bird would go on to win two more championships
with the Celtics. He would also win the Most Valuable Player award three times. This is what Larry
Bird said after his second Most Valuable Player award, While I was still trying to figure out how I
could improve my game for the next season, I was notified that I had been selected as the league MVP
for the second year in a row (Bird and Ryan 153). Larry Bird after being in the league for seven years
and winning two straight MVPs was still trying to find ways to get better. Bird proved that
perseverance and dedication to the sport he loved would lead to a successful and rewarding

Acute Stress Disorder
Acute Stress Disorder
Brett D. Klawitter
Liberty University
Abstract
Acute Stress Disorder or ASD is a phenomenon that happens during or shortly after a traumatic event.
It can affect people in many different ways but it is usually debilitating for up to one month. There has
been controversy and stigma attached to the diagnosis of ASD since it was first added to the DSM IV.
This paper will illustrate the definition of ASD, the diagnostic guidelines, the difference between ASD
and Acute Stress Reaction (ASR), symptoms and effective treatments, the impact of ASD and the
coping skills needed to successfully get through it, and a biblical story and perspective about stress
disorders. What is ASD and is it an appropriate response to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While many aspects remain the same thee has been some additional criteria or information that makes
the diagnosis more effecting. The diagnostic criteria for ASD include; experiencing or witnessing
actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual violation, or learning that the event occurred to a
friend or close relative, repeated or extreme exposure to the event but it is important to note that this
does not include exposure through mass media. In DSM IV three criteria had to be met along with the
occurrence of other disturbances. In DSM V this is sectioned together and eight or more of the
symptoms must be met, starting with at least three of the disassociated symptoms such as numbing,
depersonalization, or amnesia. There are four inclusion symptoms that could occur such as flashbacks,
recurrent images, thoughts, or dreams. Two avoidance symptoms that could include avoiding
conversations, activities, people, and places that bring back intense feelings and memories of the
event. Furthermore; symptoms of arousal or anxiety such as the inability or difficulty sleeping,
irritability, poor concentration, and the inability to sit still or body tremors and shaking. There needs to
be clinically observed stress or impairment, the symptoms last from three days to one month after the
event and are not due to the use of substances, a medical condition, or physiological events (Cardeña

International Monetary Fund ( Imf ) And The World Bank
The HIPC Initiative
By HSvB
The Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) are a group of 38 developing countries with high levels
of poverty and debt overhang which are eligible for special assistance from the International Monetary
Fund (IMF) and the World Bank . The HIPC Initiative was initiated by the International Monetary
Fund and the World Bank in 1996. In 2001 Ghana declared itself as heavily indebted poor country,
according to the then president John Agyekum Kuffour, the decision of Ghana to be part of this
initiative was mainly because of the poor state of the economy. As a result of this the nation was
expected to receive a total of 253 million dollars of IMF and the World Bank to help relieve the
country from various debts and to invest the rest in infrastructure, basic education, health facilities,
water and sanitation. As a result of the HIPC initiative there were some positive change in the lives of
the people in terms of healthcare and some aspects of basic education. There was an introduction of
free healthcare to all Ghanaian citizens in the country and the already existing free basic education
was enhanced. However the prices of goods and services increased by the day. The rate of
unemployment shot up drastically as many people were losing their jobs both in the public and private
sector, there was constant depreciation of the currency and frequent sales of state owned property.
Apparently, the negative outcome of the initiative was as a result of the

Characteristics Of Life In Neil Gaiman s The Graveyard Book
Everyone has different personality traits. These affect how we react to people, important decisions,
and situations. You are shaped by your family, and your education. In Bod s early childhood, he was
raised and taught by the different dead people in the graveyard. Bod s life starts resembling his family,
friends, and education. He tends to take on attributes of the dead people he meets in the graveyard.
However, fortunately for Bod he has human interactions with people outside of the graveyard. Bod s
human interactions with Scarlett, Abanazer Bolger, and the bullies at school give him more
characteristics of life than death in Neil Gaiman s The Graveyard Book. Bod s first human interaction
was with Scarlett Perkins. She was a little older than he was, a little taller, and was dressed in bright
colors, yellow and pink and orange. (40) Scarlett was Bod s first exposure to life since he was a
toddler. Bod gained many human characteristics that he learned from being friends with Scarlett. She
first introduced color to Bod s life by wearing bright colored clothes. Bod wore a grey winding sheet
that made him feel dowdy and drab. Later in the novel, Silas brings Bod home some real clothes. Silas
produced a grey sweater the color of Bod s winding sheet, a pair of jeans, underwear, and shoes pale
green sneakers. (148) Silas gets Bod normal, living peoples clothes which are a characteristic of life.
His shoes are also pale green, which is the first thing with color Bod owned.

Beauty Is A Beauty And Beautiful Thing
Beauty is a Beast to Obtain A human body is considered a sacred and beautiful thing. It s widely
complex, with millions of different aspects and parts that make humanity amazingly different than
other species in the world. However, the social construction of feminine beauty brings about issues of
what is truly beautiful. Most countries have a different viewpoint, such as being bare chested or
having a stretched neck. In America, female beauty is something that many argue over, but there is a
clear consensus on some things: women should be skinny, but not too thin; blonde, but not bleach
blonde; fit, but not masculine; tan, but not orange; and of course, the classic big boobs, big ass, but an
absolutely tiny waist. A majority of these are completely unnatural and require a great deal of work, or
even surgery, to even come close to acquiring. In The Body Beautiful by Rosalind Coward, the reality
of expectations on beauty is clearly and concisely laid out, making clear that our construction of
beauty is very flawed. An interesting point Coward brings up is the valuation of immaturity . This is a
concept that focuses on making the female body more sexually attractive by making it seem
prepubescent. The shaving of legs and armpits is one example Coward focuses on, but another factor
could also be the quite disgusting craze of the sexy schoolgirl . Practically every Halloween, one can
find a costume in the local Walmart or CVS featuring a low cut blouse and a few

Simulation Reflection The simulation was very interesting in that my partner and I were given an
opportunity to think critically about how to approach to influence different managers and workers
with different characteristics. By running the simulation twice, it allowed us to find out what actions

learned to complete the second simulation in a much more efficient and timely manner. There are

Michigan Basketball History
Michigan basketball is in rare territory as a consistent inside presence is the missing piece to the
Wolverines postseason success puzzle.
Despite earning a 2016 NCAA Tournament bid, the Wolverines didn t do enough in postseason play to
satisfy the Michigan faithful s desire to enjoy a deep March run. Michigan fans are well aware of the
Wolverines wild success in the tournament preceding this year s first round loss to Notre Dame.
Arguably the best backcourt in the nation in 2013, Tim Hardaway Jr. and Trey Burke led Michigan to
an appearance in the national championship game against Louisville.
Wolverine fans remember Burke s overtime forcing 30 foot three point shot that ultimately earned

NBA after just a year in college, while still competing at college basketball s highest level season after

Michigan has a few candidates to fill the void in the middle. Mark Donnal showed flashes of promise
this season, and given that he ll be a senior next season, Donnal could help the Wolverines. Ricky
Doyle, a 6 foot 9 sophomore, didn t exactly scream breakout potential after averaging 3.8 points and
two rebounds per game in an expanded role this season.
Moritz Wagner, a freshman from Berlin, Germany, played an extremely limited role during the
Wolverines regular season. However, in Michigan s upset win over the Indiana Hoosiers on March 11,
Wagner went 2 for 2 from the free throw line and 3 for 3 from the field, including a three. In the
Wolverines First Four matchup against Tulsa, Wagner again was perfect from the field (2 for 2), while
grabbing eight boards and blocking four shots. Wagner showed enthusiasm and fire throughout
season, even from the bench. The team first mentality is something many young players lack, and it
will serve Wagner well in the future. Expect to see a major increase in minutes and productivity for
the energetic freshman next

Comfort Women During World War II
Comfort Women Being a comfort woman during World War II was dehumanizing, involuntary and
unforgivable. Wherever Japanese troops were stationed comfort women were causing many
controversies with other countries. Many of these women are still alive and have recently begun to
speak about their experiences. Comfort women were Asian women forced to serve as sexual slaves for
Japan s Imperial Army soldiers in brothels (Hirata 131), is the most common way to explain comfort
women. The recruitment of these women was often sneaky or forced. Women from Taiwan and Korea,
colonies of Japan at the time, were recruited for work misinterpreting the comfort services as visiting
wounded soldiers. Also in these colonies young women were ... Show more content on

Since sexual behavior is not usually spoken about in Japan s culture the practice of comfort women
was ignored for forty five years. In 1948 the Netherlands was the first place anyone became concerned
and tried to punish the soldiers. Some Japanese officers were convicted of forcing thirty five Dutch
women into comfort stations but there were not any trials where the native women were plaintiffs. In
1990 the Korean Council for Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery was created and went to trial
in Japan. Shortly after, individual women filed lawsuits and wanted an apology and compensation but
Japan refused, and still does today. Eventually in 1992 a discovery of documents in the archives of
Japan s National Defense Agency forced Japan s government to admit they were directly involved in
the use of comfort women as sex slaves. In 1995 the Japanese government had admitted moral
responsibility and set up the Asia Women s Fund. The Asia Women s Fund was supposed to supply
remaining comfort women with compensation and an informal signed apology from the prime
minister but it was rejected by the comfort women because of it being informal

A Brief Note On Crime And Crime Rates
Crime is one of the major issues that America has been facing for over one hundred years. Although
crime has been steadily decreasing ever since the 1990 s there are still a lot of room for improvement.
With this issue bring many subsequent problems, such as incarcerated people per capita. This doesn t
only have an extreme burden on those incarcerated and their families, but also on the federal
government. This costs them billions of dollars every year to control delinquent behavior but it still
hasn t worked to its full potential. There are three topics containing four variables that must be
considered when attempting to reduce crime rates. This includes police, surveillance, and federal
assistance. The variables they produce are, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first studied found there was a strong correlation between the rate at which someone is arrested
for an offense and the rate of the same offense (Tittle and Rowe, 1974). This was mostly seen in
robberies, when a robber was arrested the rate of robberies would slightly decrease. This poses two
reason of the decrease, either the other people who frequently rob people do it less frequently because
they are frightened to also be arrested, or that the robber who was arrested was a repeat offender. This
is interesting because it doesn t have to be one or the other, the reality is that there is most likely a mix
of both happening. This effect was examined by another researcher who coined the term the tipping
effect, and understood that clearance rates only affect some crime rates and not in others depending on
the offense (Bailey n.d.). This means that the clearance of a crime, which is the closing of an open
case, either by arrest, death, etc. could not always positively impact the crime rate. This is not only a
difference in violent crimes and property crimes because there was a negative association found in
property crimes and clearance rates (Logan, 1975).
This poses four main problems, first the fact that crime rates and clearance rates directly influence
each other. This is a major road block that is preventing the causal effect of the independent variable
on the crime

Argumentative Essay On Designer Babies
Imagine a world where having a baby was like looking through a menu at some fancy restaurant.
Imagine being able to choose how a baby will look and act. As mind boggling as it sounds, scientists
and researchers came across an unbelievable discovery: it is possible to design and edit a baby
however a person may like. Hanson asserts that personality, gender, appearance, intelligence, hair
color, and height can be changed using technology that was originally used for animals (Hanson).
These babies are called designer babies. Phillip Ball, a science writer, claims that it is possible to
change the genetic makeup of an unborn baby using bio technology. However, these changes can have
more negative effects than positive. Although most countries have not legislated the use of genetic
modification, studies have been done on human embryos in China (Ball).
According to The Ethics of Designer Babies article, a process called in vito fertilization must be done
before any genetic changes can be made. In this process, the mother s mature eggs are retrieved from
the ovaries and taken to a lab to be combined with sperm outside of the body. They are fertilized in a
petri dish. This is the reason why they are sometimes referred to as test tube babies. After fertilization,
the embryo is sent back into the mother s uterus and a third parent comes into play. The third parent,
or the donor, has his or her mitochondrial DNA inserted into the embryo, a process known as
cytoplasmic transfer.

The Controversial Issue Of Abortion
Abortion On November 23, 2012, the center for disease control release new abortion statistics for
2009 compared with 2008, the number and rate of reported abortions decreased by 5%. There were an
estimated 1.21 million abortions in 2008. You drop the number by 5%, and you still get 1.15 million
abortion. The issue of abortion is a very controversial topic anywhere in the world, but in many
countries abortion is still legal. Is there a justification for stopping a pregnancy? People think that
abortion is a personal decision and that it is their body. The responsibility of what to do with your
body is of each person. In other hand, other people think that a fetus from the moment of creation is a

abortion is considered legal only in cases where the woman has been raped, the pregnant woman is in
danger, or when the baby comes with a serious illness problem. On the other hand in the United

The Populist And The Progressive Movement
The progressive movement, an extension of the Populist movement, was an effort to cure the political
and economic ills of American society that had developed during the great spurt of industrial growth
in the last quarter of the 19th century. In terms of social reform, the Progressive movement
transcended the predominantly agrarian ambitions of Populists. With Populist crusaders such as
Grangers and members of the Farmer s Alliances in its vanguard, Progressives instituted initiative and
referendum, attaining political power for the working class. The Warehouse and Federal Farm Loan
Acts of 1916 satisfied the farmers demand for credit. Progressives reformed beyond Populist demands

that represented by, Picket Girls on Duty. Many women, like so, campaigned for better working

The Civil War Was A Tragedy Essay
The Civil War was a long hard fought battle between the Union and the Confederate states from the
year 1861 1865. The war was a tragedy, but the battles of the American Civil War caused many
changes in America and in a good way, such as the abolishment of slavery and uniting the two sides
together. Slavery was the main cause, but the north and south did not agree with each other on ideas,
so it sparked the beginning of a war. A devastating blow to the Union, from Brig. Gen. Pierre G.T.
Beauregard of the Confederate, caused Major Robert Anderson to begin a war. Conflicts between the
two sides changed America for good. It is still one of the most bloodiest and affecting wars to date. It
all started when a missile stroke a shore. At 4:32 a.m., on April 12, 1861, a fort in Charleston, South
Carolina, Fort Sumter, was bombed. Threats were made to Federal troops occupying forts in the
South. Major Robert Anderson was with the Union and asked the War Department for more
reinforcements. He was in command of Fort Moultrie on Sullivan Island, not to far from Charleston.
Anderson s play was to move him and his men to a more secure fort, which were either Castle
Pinckney or the unfinished Fort Sumter. However, Francis Pickens, governor of South Carolina, did
not like that idea and wanted Anderson to stay at Fort Moultrie. Anderson was already on his way to
Fort Sumter. Pickens demanded Anderson to surrender but of course he did not want to. On March 1,

Fire In London Symbolism
On an extremely cold winter day (−75 °F or −59 °C), a man, who remains unnamed throughout the
story, and his native wolf dog go on the Yukon Trail after being warned of the dangers of traveling

cold for traveling. However, the weather does not deter the man, a relative newcomer to the Yukon,

There s a certain Slant of light by Emily Dickinson is a poem describing the speaker s observation of
the light during a winter afternoon. Describing light might elicit a feeling of joy and happiness but
Dickinson s poem describes light is a gloomy manner. By using imagery and alliteration Dickinson
creates a feeling of disconcertment towards the light described in the poem. The first stanza provides
the setting of this poem. There s a certain Slant of light, Winter Afternoons (1 2) obviously tells the

Teaching Is An Integral Part Of My Personality
Teaching is an integral part of my personality, it is not just a job that takes a few hours of my day, nor
is it a means to earn a living, rather it is a way of life. Since the early days of my youth, I used to
imagine myself as a teacher, and to discuss with myself what I have learned, directing questions and
trying to extract answers. Such a way proved to be very fruitful, not only in explaining the targeted
topics, but also in raising new ideas in my mind. Afterwards it became clear to me; I know that I
understand something when I can explain it to others. This has become my way of dealing with any
subject. When the topic is difficult, I consider myself in front of a personal challenge, and do my best
to simplify it into its easiest possible level. This has become my basic contribution in teaching, to
dismantle any complex topic to its simplest elements, so that students do not face any problem in
dealing with it; that is in discussing, analysing, and understanding it. The conversion of complex ideas
into simpler equivalents is such an arduous task that requires time and effort, but I chose this it as my
method in teaching, because I believe that it is the students right to get clear ideas, not a confused set
of thoughts. Apart from my personal inclinations, my teaching experience has provided me with a
good opportunity to deal with students from diverse backgrounds, and to explore different teaching
methods with them. As a lecturer at Cairo University, I have gained

Observing on the Gospel of Matthew
Background
This Gospel with precisely placed first as introductory PB and the Messiah, the son of the living God
(Matthew 16: 16). Although the author s name is not mentioned in the Bible, the nas testimony all the
church fathers who first (since c. 130 ad) stated that the Gospel was written by Matthew, one of the
disciples of Jesus.
If the Gospel of mark was written to the Romans and the Gospel of Luke for Theophilus and all non
Jewish believers the Gospel of Matthew was written to Jewish believers. The Jewish background of
this Gospel seems in many ways, including

Essay A Child Called It
A Child Called It
A Child Called It is the story of a young boy who, in order to survive, must triumph over the physical,
emotional, and medical abuse created by his mother. The exploitation of alcohol plays an important
role in the abuse by the mother and the neglect to see and the courage to intervene the problems by
Dave s father. Dave considered the abuse he endured by his mother, games . But he always tried to be
one small step ahead of her. Like Death From Child Abuse . . . And No One Heard, the outside world

The knife slipped out of her hands and struck him around the chest area. He bled profusely and she
bandaged him up and nurtured him for a little while after until she saw he was able to support himself
again. Soon after, Dave would have to take care of the wound by himself, like when it became
infected, and he had to squeeze the puss from it.
Another game instance is he would be timed when it came to doing his chores, if not done quick
enough (faster than an adult human could wash and dry the dishes) he would be subject to more, and
more severe punishment. And even if he did accomplish his tasks in a reasonable amount of time, his
only reward was to eat the left over food thrown in the garbage. Emotionally, she never referred to
David as her son. She always knew Dave as the boy or It . As his father would try to intervene to help
him out, he would be caught by the madness of his wife in calling him, the boy and It . As much as his
father tried to comfort Dave, he did not have the will to stand up against his wife. Most likely, the
abuse stemmed from alcohol abuse of his mother and father. They just both handled their addiction in
different ways. His father was passive, but still loved his son; his mother became violent and took her
frustration and madness out on Dave. Not that alcohol is an excuse, but it was the key to the ignition
of that family s child abuse problem. Alcohol in this case

A Comparison Of Jerry Rice And Randy Moss
Imagine being the best wide receiver in NFL, being elected into the Hall Of Fame, being looked upon

the best receivers in NFL history. You might think Randy Moss is better because you have heard so
much about him, or Oh! they made a catch after him, the MOSS catch. There are many receivers in the
NFL history that were and are very good, including Randy Moss, but Jerry Rice is nothing compared

Rice hit 208 touchdown in his multiple seasons. He was a receiver for a couple of teams, which
includes you to use your hands to catch the ball, but Jerry Rice was good at every position. Rice had
10 rushing touchdowns, and one fumble recovery; with his speed he was able to break away from the
mayhem and score a touchdown. No matter what who the person, or the team, if anyone was to
achieve that goal, that is amazing and will be remembered. In any division of football it is extremely
hard to break 200 touchdowns. If you break 200 you might as well be the best receiver in the world, of
NFL. Jerry Rice had racked in more touchdowns than Emmitt Smith. Emmitt was a phenomenal
running back for the Dallas Cowboys, hitting 175 touchdowns in his career. Jerry has the most
touchdowns in NFL history, with Emmitt Smith, at second, and Ladainian Tomlinson at third. Emmitt
Smith is an elite running back that was in the NFL and for someone, anyone to have more and better

most hardworking wide receiver there ever was. Most of those people don t know the background of

Eastlyn Koons Robots Are Better Than Humans
The increased development of artificial intelligence and the everyday use of technology can lead to a
future full of robots, claims Eastlyn Koons in Robots are Better than Humans. Koons lives in the
modern day where advancements are being made every day in the field of technology and artificial
intelligence machines have started to replace the jobs of some people. People fear the uprising of robot
rebellion and an inevitable Doomsday because of it. Through appeals to fear and pride, Koons asks the
world to consider the use of technology in their lives and the role it may play in the future. Koons
starts off the intro of her satirical essay by using sarcasm and rhetorical in order to show the audience
what is happening with the world at that time and establish the satire of her essay. In the first sentence,
Koons claims that robots are better than humans, as they are humans favorite things , suggesting that
the humans basically created their own better version. Koons utilizes a rhetorical question to ask why
humans are still there , showcasing the dispensability and non necessity of humans when robots are
present. By doing so, Koons demonstrates that humans have, in a way, become the cause of their own

The Slippery Slope of Gay Marriage Essay
The Slippery Slope of Gay Marriage
AFTER GAY MARRIAGE, what will become of marriage itself? Will same sex matrimony extend
marriage s stabilizing effects to homosexuals? Will gay marriage undermine family life? A lot is riding
on the answers to these questions. But the media s reflexive labeling of doubts about gay marriage as
homophobia has made it almost impossible to debate the social effects of this reform. Now with the
Supreme Court s ringing affirmation of sexual liberty in Lawrence v. Texas, that debate is
unavoidable.
Among the likeliest effects of gay marriage is to take us down a slippery slope to legalized polygamy
and quot;polyamory quot; (group marriage). Marriage will be transformed into a variety of
relationship ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
True, a small number of relatively conservative gay spokesmen do consider the social effects of gay
matrimony, insisting that they will be beneficent, that homosexual unions will become more stable.
Yet another faction of gay rights advocates actually favors gay marriage as a step toward the abolition
of marriage itself. This group agrees that there is a slippery slope, and wants to hasten the slide down.
To consider what comes after gay marriage is not to say that gay marriage itself poses no danger to the
institution of marriage. Quite apart from the likelihood that it will usher in legalized polygamy and
polyamory, gay marriage will almost certainly weaken the belief that monogamy lies at the heart of
marriage. But to see why this is so, we will first need to reconnoiter the slippery slope.
Promoting polygamy
DURING THE 1996 congressional debate on the Defense of Marriage Act, which affirmed the ability
of the states and the federal government to withhold recognition from same sex marriages, gay
marriage advocates were put on the defensive by the polygamy question. If gays had a right to marry,
why not polygamists? Andrew Sullivan, one of gay marriage s most intelligent defenders, labeled the
question fear mongering akin to the discredited belief that interracial marriage would lead to birth
defects. quot;To the best of my knowledge, quot; said Sullivan, quot;there is no

Is Culture Rational Or Irrational
Rational or Irrational? (A discussion on culture and its Apollonian and Dionysian aspects) Is there ever
a reason behind why we do what we do, or do we act purely out of impulse? Some people are very
meticulous when it comes to planning things out while others go with the flow and don t worry about
what will happen. Is this something that is programmed inside of us, or are we influenced by the
culture in which we live? I believe that the culture we live in today has a huge influence on the people
we become. Friedrich Nietzsche has more to say on this subject. Nietzsche, born in 1844, was one of
the most influential modern thinkers. He was a brilliant student, particularly of the classics, and he

Literature, art and music are three things that make up a huge part of our culture today. They influence
who we are as a people and represent us as individuals and also as a whole. David Tracy, in this
excerpt of his work, deliberates how to view the Dionysian aspect of the world. Nietzsche insists that
we must understand the vital, energetic Dionysian reality of life... we will find an active response to
life in all its joy and suffering, its wonder and its cruelty, its beauty, and its horror. The conclusion is
made that this trait is more lively and free. Nietzsche talks about how the Dionysian people are more
excessive and irrational; they live with a greater lack of discipline. The literature, art, and music of
today aren t conservative like they used to be. They challenged the norm and push the limits of what
people are used to hearing, seeing, and reading. Writers, musicians, and artists are always pushing to
create something new, something that will shock and awe people. These actions completely reflect
those of Dionysian people. The Dionysian aspect of the culture we live in today is seen through works
of music, art, and

Vpn Exists For Virtual Private Network
Introduction VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. It provides a private network across the public
network (Internet). This allows the user to transmit and receive data to the private network across
Internet, like it is being directly connected to it. VPN has the characteristics of point to point and
private link. To resemble a point to point link, the data is sent along with the routing information
necessary to reach the destination through the public network. Data is encrypted and only the users in
the network can access the resources in it, which resembles the characteristics of a private connection.
Data sent through the VPN is very secure, as it cannot be deciphered without the encrypted keys. In
VPN, tunnel is the part of the connection where data is encapsulated and VPN connection is the part
of the connection where the data is encrypted. Figure 1: VPN Connectivity Overview VPN helps users
working remotely to connect to the company infrastructure securely. Although it establishes the
connection across the public network, user is not aware of it as it looks like data is being sent over a
dedicated link. VPN connection is like a Wide Area Network (WAN) between two areas. VPN is
commonly used in the following modes, ● Remote Access across public network This allows the users

easiest way to gain the victim. Cyberbullying is an act of bullying through devices, threatening or

school officials take part in helping out with teens, this will prevent suicidal acts among the students.
Counseling, just on its own, can help prevent these suicidal thoughts. Due to their careers counselors
tend to know how to handle many situations amongst students including that of cyberbullying. By
doing their jobs, counselors can not only go to the student being bullied, but engage the students who
tend to imply the bullying. This creates programs that ll help the communities to help one another in

Anti-Inflammatory And Antioxidative Properties Of Cells
Recently, GA has been found in several studies to have anti inflammatory and antioxidative properties
making it an apoptosis scavenger [12, 15]. Furth ermore, previous in vitro studies showed that GA
dose dependently scavenged generated superoxide radicals [18]. In this study concomitant treatment
with GA significantly reduced the inflammatory and oxidative stress induced by the administration of
intraperitoneal adenine. These include a reduction in GSH, SOD, catalase and TAC. It also
significantly reduced NGAL, NAG and cystatin C, the biomarkers of acute kidney injury [33, 34] I

ROS generation overwhelms antioxidant defenses, and ROS can interact with endogenous
macromolecules and change cellular functions (16). A high level of ROS may also result in protein
oxidation (PO) and lipid peroxidation (LPO). Consequently, PO and LPO levels can be used as
biomarkers of ROS induced tissue damage in various diseases (17, 18) Accumulating research has
suggested that certain probiotics play various biological roles through several mechanisms, one of the
most debated of these being antioxidant activity (19). In fact, among the useful effects of probiotics in
humans, protection against oxidative stress has been reported in several studies (20, 21). In this
experimental study, specific strains of L. acidophilus showed antioxidant properties after different
time intervals. Some authors theorize that probiotics exert their protective effects against oxidative
stress by restoring the gut microbiota (25). Acting in this way, antioxidant probiotic strains can be
chosen and investigated as promising candidates for the prevention and control of several free radical
related disorders (26 28). Finally, L. acidophilus as a probiotic plays an important role in the alteration
of oxidative injuries through TAP. Our study in agreements with AOAC (5) (study, obligately
homofermentative showed that lactobacilli have high antioxidant activity whereas this was highly

Essay on The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien
The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien is a short story written about the Vietnam War. The title has
two meanings. The first is their duties and equipment for the war. The second, the emotional sorrows
they were put through while at war. Their wants and needs, the constant worry of death were just a
few of the emotional baggage they carried. During the Vietnam War, like all wars, there were hard
times. Being a soldier wasn t easy. Soldiers always see death, whether it be another soldier or an
enemy. In The Things They Carried, Tim O Brien explores the motivation of solders in the Vietnam
War to understand their role in combat, to stay in good health, and accept the death of a fellow soldier.

If the soldiers found a weapon worth carrying they would pick it up such as, captured AK 47 s and
black market Uzis. All of the men in the platoon carried sentimental items. Some carried good luck
items and some just souvenirs from their tour. For example Jimmy Cross carried pictures and letters
from a girl that didn t love him like he wanted. Kiowa carried a bible. Henry Dobbins carried his
girlfriend s panty hose around his neck. Norman Bowker carried a thumb from a corpse that was given
to him by Mitchell Sanders. Towards the end of the story Lieutenant Cross realizes he is not doing his
job well if he is thinking about Martha. After Lavender is shot, Cross decides that he is going to
straighten up and be the leader he should have been all along. Cross blames himself for Lavender s
death. He felt shame. He hated himself. He had loved Martha more than his men, and as a
consequence Lavender was dead, and this was something he would have to carry like a stone in his
stomach for the rest of war. (O Brien 101) Immediately, Cross has a talk about his new expectations.
Commencing immediately, he d tell them, they would no longer abandon equipment along the route of
march. They would police up their acts, they would get their shit together, and keep it together, and
maintain it neatly and in a good working order. (O Brien 105) After Lavender is killed, Cross has the
motivation to fulfill his role in war as the leader of the platoon. In a war

dystopia. The unreliable narrator may at times discredit the validity of some of the feminine view
points through out the story. Dunn feels that economic independence is crucial and when Offred s
rights begin to be plucked away one by one the shift of society is blatant for all to see. Women become
second hand citizens who are indistinguishable between their own groups, yet they are still ranked
among themselves. Uniforms play a critical role in striping the women from their former selves. They
become merely Handmaid s, Martha s Wives, and Econowives. While there is separation between the
groups the women are dressed to be exactly the same within their groups. Women essentially lose their
identity. Women are separated yet again amongst their groups. The regime in place has spies all over,
and woman and men alike work for the group called The Eyes. It is hard to tell who they can trust and
who they can t. This is the perfect situation for the regime, for if the group can not unite they will

Inward FDI and Innovation in the Indian Service Sector
Inward FDI and innovation in the Indian service sector Bikramjit Sinha This section analyses the
linkage between inward FDI flows and innovation activity in Indian service sector. The focus is on
service sector since there has been unprecedented inflow of FDI in services in recent years. FDI in
Services In 2000, share of FDI in services to total FDI inflows in India was just 1.8% and afterwards it
grew steadily to reach a record all time high of 34.7% during 2006 but declined afterwards. Of the
cumulative FDI in services during 2000 2010, financial services accounted for bulk of the inflows
(41.7%) followed by banking services (9.6%), and both non financial services and R D sharing 9.5%
each (Table 1). Share of financial services, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

from foreign countries which has from 1.2% in 2001 to 0.57% in 2010 (Table 2). FRTL intensity was
highest during 2002 (0.4%) which after passing through a fluctuating trend culminates to all time low
of 0.05% in 2009, probably coinciding with the recent global recession. Only financial services,
outsourcing and other services are acquiring technology from abroad. FRTL intensity of only

FICO Score Possible Essay
What is the Highest Credit Score Possible?
One of the most important numbers in your life is your credit score. In some cases, it s more important
than your age or even your income, but even more difficult to understand, especially if you are
working on improving or building your credit score. From the time you can work, someone is going to
tell you to build up your credit history and keep an eye on your credit score. This is true even if you
never plan to buy anything on credit. So, what is the highest credit score possible? According to the
most recent methods used, a FICO score of 850 is the highest you can get, but also the most unlikely
for several reasons.
How to Get Your FICO Score
Credit scores take quite a few things into consideration, but not every lender or credit score provider
will have the same credit score for you. Although there are many different ways you can get a credit
score, the FICO score is the one most commonly used by lenders when determining your
creditworthiness.

In most cases, you can get around these types of payments with a debit card from your bank. The
problem is that you don t have access to a credit line that can come in handy for emergencies or when
you want to make a large purchase. Further, you need a credit score and a healthy credit history to
purchase things like a house or a car.
One of the worst things you can do for your credit is not use it. In fact, many lenders say that no credit
is worse than bad credit. This is because they understand that sometimes things happen that are
beyond your control, so getting behind on a couple of payments isn t the worst thing that could
happen. It s not having the payments or credit accounts at all that could be even worse for your

bestseller list, as well as in the UK, Ireland and Australia. The book was adapted in 2008 as a film of
the same name. The story happens in the Nazi Germany. The setting is very important because that s
what makes the story develop according to the time and place. The characters are: Bruno, a German

Examples Of Superego In The Cask Of Amontillado
The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe is a short story about two engrossing characters which

the depiction of Freud s id and ego theory portrayed with Montresor s dilemma. Edgar Allan Poe
demonstrates how the narrator and the protagonist Montresor is divided between his id , ego and

The narrator clarifies the superego as secrecy of violence as The energy of the superego is aggression (

him by granite . Montresor s choose of carnival time might symbolize his way of protection against
his actual violence, because his superego that related with society forces him to compress his id , in
which Montresor secretly portrays that while he takes Fortunato into his underground hell atmosphere
, his superego , festive atmosphere , acts as a fake stuff , like the way he acts gently in the light of
society. Afterwards , Fortunato started to understand the source of Montresor s malice slowly. At first ,
he acts like mocker by forgetting his arms that his behavior might be a sign of his exertion to stimulate

The HIPC Initiative was initiated by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in 1996. In 2001 Ghana declared itself as heavily indebted poor country, according to the then president John Agyekum Kuffour, the decision of Ghana to be part of this initiative was mainly because of the poor state of the economy. As a result of this the nation was expected to receive a total of 253 million dollars of IMF and the World Bank to help relieve the country from various debts and to invest the rest in infrastructure, basic education, health facilities, water and sanitation. As a result of the HIPC initiative there were some positive change in the lives of the people in terms of healthcare and some aspects of basic education. There was an introduction of free healthcare to all Ghanaian citizens in the country and the already existing free basic education was enhanced. However the prices of goods and services increased by the day. (40) Scarlett was Bod s first exposure to life since he was a toddler. Bod gained many human characteristics that he learned from being friends with Scarlett. She first introduced color to Bod s life by wearing bright colored clothes. Bod wore a grey winding sheet that made him feel dowdy and drab. It s widely complex, with millions of different aspects and parts that make humanity amazingly different than other species in the world. However, the social construction of feminine beauty brings about issues of what is truly beautiful. Most countries have a different viewpoint, such as being bare chested or having a stretched neck. In America, female beauty is something that many argue over, but there is a clear consensus on some things: women should be skinny, but not too thin; blonde, but not bleach blonde; fit, but not masculine; tan, but not orange; and of course, the classic big boobs, big ass, but an absolutely tiny waist. A majority of these are completely unnatural and require a great deal of work, or even surgery, to even come close to acquiring. In The Body Beautiful by Rosalind Coward, the reality of expectations on beauty is clearly and concisely laid out, making clear that our construction of beauty is very flawed. An interesting point Coward brings up is the valuation of immaturity . This is a concept that focuses on making the female body more sexually attractive by making it seem prepubescent. The shaving of legs and armpits is one example Coward focuses on, but another factor could also be the quite disgusting craze of the sexy schoolgirl . Wherever Japanese troops were stationed comfort women were causing many controversies with other countries. Many of these women are still alive and have recently begun to speak about their experiences. Comfort women were Asian women forced to serve as sexual slaves for Japan s Imperial Army soldiers in brothels (Hirata 131), is the most common way to explain comfort women. In 1990 the Korean Council for Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery was created and went to trial in Japan. Shortly after, individual women filed lawsuits and wanted an apology and compensation but Japan refused, and still does today. Although crime has been steadily decreasing ever since the 1990 s there are still a lot of room for improvement. With this issue bring many subsequent problems, such as incarcerated people per capita. This doesn t only have an extreme burden on those incarcerated and their families, but also on the federal government. This costs them billions of dollars every year to control delinquent behavior but it still hasn t worked to its full potential. There are three topics containing four variables that must be considered when attempting to reduce crime rates. This includes police, surveillance, and federal assistance. The variables they produce are, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first studied found there was a strong correlation between the rate at which someone is arrested for an offense and the rate of the same offense (Tittle and Rowe, 1974). This was mostly seen in robberies, when a robber was arrested the rate of robberies would slightly decrease. This poses two reason of the decrease, either the other people who frequently rob people do it less frequently because they are frightened to also be arrested, or that the robber who was arrested was a repeat offender. This is interesting because it doesn t have to be one or the other, the reality is that there is most likely a mix of both happening. This effect was examined by another researcher who coined the term the tipping effect, and understood that clearance rates only affect some crime rates and not in others depending on the offense (Bailey n.d.). This means that the clearance of a crime, which is the closing of an open case, either by arrest, death, etc. could not always positively impact the crime rate. This is not only a difference in violent crimes and property crimes because there was a negative association found in property crimes and clearance rates (Logan, 1975). This poses four main problems, first the fact that crime rates and clearance rates directly influence each other. This is a major road block that is preventing the causal effect of the independent variable on the crime ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Argumentative Essay On Designer Babies Imagine a world where having a baby was like looking through a menu at some fancy restaurant. Imagine being able to choose how a baby will look and act. As mind boggling as it sounds, scientists and researchers came across an unbelievable discovery: it is possible to design and edit a baby however a person may like. Hanson asserts that personality, gender, appearance, intelligence, hair color, and height can be changed using technology that was originally used for animals (Hanson). These babies are called designer babies. Phillip Ball, a science writer, claims that it is possible to change the genetic makeup of an unborn baby using bio technology. However, these changes can have more negative effects than positive. Although most countries have not legislated the use of genetic modification, studies have been done on human embryos in China (Ball). According to The Ethics of Designer Babies article, a process called in vito fertilization must be done before any genetic changes can be made. In this process, the mother s mature eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and taken to a lab to be combined with sperm outside of the body. They are fertilized in a petri dish. This is the reason why they are sometimes referred to as test tube babies. After fertilization, the embryo is sent back into the mother s uterus and a third parent comes into play. The third parent, or the donor, has his or her mitochondrial DNA inserted into the embryo, a process known as cytoplasmic transfer. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With Populist crusaders such as Grangers and members of the Farmer s Alliances in its vanguard, Progressives instituted initiative and referendum, attaining political power for the working class. Beauregard of the Confederate, caused Major Robert Anderson to begin a war. Conflicts between the two sides changed America for good. It is still one of the most bloodiest and affecting wars to date. It all started when a missile stroke a shore. At 4:32 a.m., on April 12, 1861, a fort in Charleston, South Carolina, Fort Sumter, was bombed. Threats were made to Federal troops occupying forts in the South. Major Robert Anderson was with the Union and asked the War Department for more reinforcements. He was in command of Fort Moultrie on Sullivan Island, not to far from Charleston. Anderson s play was to move him and his men to a more secure fort, which were either Castle Pinckney or the unfinished Fort Sumter. However, Francis Pickens, governor of South Carolina, did not like that idea and wanted Anderson to stay at Fort Moultrie. Anderson was already on his way to Fort Sumter. Pickens demanded Anderson to surrender but of course he did not want to. On March 1, Brigadier General P. G. T. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Teaching Is An Integral Part Of My Personality Teaching is an integral part of my personality, it is not just a job that takes a few hours of my day, nor is it a means to earn a living, rather it is a way of life. Since the early days of my youth, I used to imagine myself as a teacher, and to discuss with myself what I have learned, directing questions and trying to extract answers. Such a way proved to be very fruitful, not only in explaining the targeted topics, but also in raising new ideas in my mind. Afterwards it became clear to me; I know that I understand something when I can explain it to others. This has become my way of dealing with any subject. When the topic is difficult, I consider myself in front of a personal challenge, and do my best to simplify it into its easiest possible level. This has become my basic contribution in teaching, to dismantle any complex topic to its simplest elements, so that students do not face any problem in dealing with it; that is in discussing, analysing, and understanding it. The conversion of complex ideas into simpler equivalents is such an arduous task that requires time and effort, but I chose this it as my method in teaching, because I believe that it is the students right to get clear ideas, not a confused set of thoughts. Apart from my personal inclinations, my teaching experience has provided me with a good opportunity to deal with students from diverse backgrounds, and to explore different teaching methods with them. Now with the Supreme Court s ringing affirmation of sexual liberty in Lawrence v. Texas, that debate is unavoidable. True, a small number of relatively conservative gay spokesmen do consider the social effects of gay matrimony, insisting that they will be beneficent, that homosexual unions will become more stable. Yet another faction of gay rights advocates actually favors gay marriage as a step toward the abolition of marriage itself. This group agrees that there is a slippery slope, and wants to hasten the slide down. To consider what comes after gay marriage is not to say that gay marriage itself poses no danger to the institution of marriage. Quite apart from the likelihood that it will usher in legalized polygamy and polyamory, gay marriage will almost certainly weaken the belief that monogamy lies at the heart of marriage. But to see why this is so, we will first need to reconnoiter the slippery slope. Promoting polygamy DURING THE 1996 congressional debate on the Defense of Marriage Act, which affirmed the ability of the states and the federal government to withhold recognition from same sex marriages, gay marriage advocates were put on the defensive by the polygamy question. Some authors theorize that probiotics exert their protective effects against oxidative stress by restoring the gut microbiota (25). Acting in this way, antioxidant probiotic strains can be chosen and investigated as promising candidates for the prevention and control of several free radical related disorders (26 28).
