Difference Between Sejong The Great And Kamehameha
Kamehameha and Sejong the Great King Kamehameha was the first ruler of the Hawaiian Islands. His
reign was from July, 1782 to May 8 or 14, 1819 (Chosonkorea.org). Sejong Daewang was the king of
the Joseon dynasty Korea (now known either as North and South Korea) and his reign was from 1418
to 1450 (Chosonkorea.org). The two leaders ruled their land in many similar and different ways. Their
behavior while ruling was also similar, yet different in many ways as well. Sejong s pathway to
becoming a ruler was much simpler than Kamehameha s. Sejong was not supposed to be the ruler of
the Joseon Dynasty. He easily and simply became king (Thoughtco.com). Kamehameha s route, on the
other hand, was rife with war, blood, and hardships. Kamehameha had to take parts in many wars and
strategizing in order to become the ruler of the Hawaiian Islands. Kamehameha the Great is most
known for unifying all the Hawaiian Islands together and Sejong the Great is most known for creating
the Korean language (Hangul). Both rulers are still known as leaders who impacted their land and
their people. Kamehameha the Great and Sejong the Great were two very effective leaders.
Similarly, both Kamehameha and Sejong were both very studious. Kamehameha was trained to be a
very skilled warrior and ruler. He and his society was advanced in trading, growing crops, and more
(Potter, Kasdon, and Rayson 23). Sejong was always reading and created many inventions during his
reign (Newworldencyclopedia.org). Both

The Relevant Theories Of Advertising
2.2.2. Relevant Theories of Advertising When discussing within the advertising sector, a universally
praised model must to mention is AIDA model. Lewis (1898) first proposed the concept to describe
the steps of consumer behaviour that occurred from the time when a consumer first became aware of a
product or brand through to when the consumer tried a product or made a purchase decision (Priyanka,
2013). The model had four psychological stages including awareness, interest, desire, and action
(Hassan et al., 2015). It was a useful formula to help marketers develop effective communication
strategies as well as to understand how consumers respond to advertising. However, AIDA model was
generated in the environment where advertisers took ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fundamental factors that were identified to develop the psychological processes include
perception, learning, memory, thinking, emotion and motivation (Sternberg 1996). Following the
structure of the SOR model, Howard first (1969) proposed the consumer decision making model
(Richarme, M., 2005), which was further developed to be the Theory of Buyer Behaviour (Howard et
al., 1973). The model considered environment stimulus as variables impacting consumes, and was
triggered from various sources. These inputs included core elements of products such as price, quality
that the buyer truly confronts (Loudon et al., 1993) as well as symbolic stimuli resulted from
advertising. Besides, social stimuli including family, peer and other reference groups also influence
consumers before entering the decision process (Foxall 1990). In contrast, Engel et al (1995) did not
focus on environmental factors, but paid more attention to the hypothetical construction of the
decision process that was the main organism being influenced by inputs. The entire organism was
structured around a seven point decision process: need recognition followed by an internally and
externally information search, the evaluation of alternatives, purchase, post purchase reflection and
disposal. Aligning with Howard (1973), mainly two factors significantly affected these decisions.
First, market stimuli affected consumer s information process which was

Barbara Brown Taylor s An Altar In The World
Many people consider themselves spiritual, but they would not consider themselves religious. People
seek deep meaning in everyday life, but they are not church goers. Barbara Brown Taylor seeks to
speak into this divide in An Altar in the World by revealing meaningful practices to discover the
sacred in everyday life. Taylor outlines twelve practices addressing vision, reverence, incarnation,
groundedness, wilderness, community, vocation, Sabbath, physical labor, breakthrough, prayer,
benediction and how through these simple practices we can engage God in different and new ways.
Taylor seems to pair her twelve practices as she progresses. Therefore, she opens with the practice of
waking up to God celebrating vision. This is the practice of awakening to seeing the presence of God
in all that we do. This is accomplished by acknowledging the divine when it happens in the midst of
life and taking time to stop long enough to reflect on where you are, who you are with and how
awesome that place is in the moment. This practice pairs nicely with the practice of paying attention.
Playing attention is the practice of having reverence for everything in life. This is accomplished by
slowing down, being present in the moment and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chapter 11 dealing with prayer deals with the practice of being present to God. While this is a rather
nebulous chapter from Taylor the practice focuses on intentionally coming before God and being
transparent and available to God. The finally chapter, the practice of pronouncing blessings, deals with
benediction. Pronouncing blessing express a common wisdom that acknowledge the world for what it
is and embracing it with gratitude as we have been embraced with God. Benedictions are a blessing to
send people on their way. When we practice pronouncing blessing we affirm God in all things and
send other in God presence as we wish and practice to be in God

Advantages And Disadvantages Of An Organization
Each person is unique and have different beliefs and lifestyles. It is very rare to find two individuals
who are exactly alike when referring to the way of thinking and interpreting many things. People may
come from the same background, but tend to have different perspectives about certain situations.
Culture is defined in many ways and can be defined differently in the workplace, in a family, or at a
restaurant. As stated before, people can obtain a certain culture. Different generations may inherit the
same culture, and an organization may have a certain culture they practice.
If everyone tend to think the same, will there be new discoveries and theories? If everyone was the
same, will there be less discrimination and judgement? These questions both emphasize the benefits of
an organization that may have members who live by the same culture and disadvantages when there
are various cultures in an organization. In this world today, people most likely experience these
advantages and disadvantages in an organization. People should be able to view the world through a
cultural lense, especially in the workplace. During the hiring process, Theobald seeks for students who
have exposure to people from different cultural backgrounds or those who are open to interact with
students with different learning styles. In the writing center there are many students who come from
different cultural backgrounds. English is usually their second language. With this being said,

Timeless And Timelessness In Literature
One theme in literature, and British literature alike, is timelessness. Many pieces that are famous have
been passed down through generations and readers all over the world still relate to it through love or
comedy. Two works that capture timelessness and universality are A Valediction: Forbidding
Mourning written by John Donne and Much Ado About Nothing written by William Shakespeare.
What often draws people to literature is raw emotion. A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning perfectly
fits the raw emotion and timelessness with true love. This poem by John Donne captivates readers
imaginations through his idea of love extending past death and the eternal love of two people. Love
songs and love stories endure time because they are always relevant because love is always relevant.
Donne s poem can be used in a variety of situations and has endured because of the sweetness and
vulnerability of it. Donne writes, Thy firmness makes my circle just, / And makes me end where I
begun, (Donne 35 36). These lines are one part of a conceit that likens his and his wife s love to a
compass and that she completes him. If people are in love, romantic gestures and nice words can make
the love grow stronger, so the message of Donne continues to be passed on through people in love.
Poems like this make hearts swell and, on the education side, use many aspects of figurative language.
A Valediction continues being taught because of the beautiful use of language and metaphors and how

United States Navy s Bomb Squad
Introduction
The United States Navy s Bomb Squad (NEOD) is a remarkably small organization that works in
small teams to accomplish worldly tasks. These obstacles range from IED to chemical and biological
weapon disarmament. The Bomb Squad is responsible for operations in war zones, as well as on the
home front. With intentions of generating a more informed populous at the United States Naval
Academy, a U.S. Navy Bomb Squad liaison along with numerous personnel, facilitated an 18 hour
screener for interested personnel possibly accessing into the organization. I was fortunate enough to
observe the entire innovative learning intervention and in this paper I will give a brief background,
nature of the learning activity, intended ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also need to be in good physical shape, the bomb suit that they don during combat weighs 100
lbs. alone. It costs approximately $150, 000 to fully train a U.S. Navy Bomb Squad member, and in
prior years, the only observation made on the individual was a college transcript review (USNA
NEOD screener instruction, 2015). The organization realized this problem and implemented a very
innovative endeavor, in which individuals would be taught about the organization, screened for
accession, and a few would be selected to begin training after graduating from the U.S. Naval
Academy. The screener began at 3 pm on November 6th and concluded at 9 am on November 7th. It
was held at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD utilizing various facilities from swimming
pools to classrooms. It was a very informative, physical, and grueling process for all involved, yet
yielded commendable results.
Nature of the learning activity
The U.S. Navy s Bomb Squad faced a very real problem: Its newest members were being selected for
training upon merit alone, with no personality or physical screening process. This was a very real
challenge, for the aforementioned reasons of required emotional intelligence and physical toughness.
The screener had a very clear mission: safely and effectively screen Midshipmen in their ability to
lead small units under stress while introducing them to the NEOD training pipeline through evaluation
by their peers, upper class, and NEOD technicians

Elliot Editing Techniques
Through this clip, many editing techniques work to further the story by deepening the emotional
effects and narative meaning of what is happening on screen. Four especially impactful effects are the
graphic, rhythmic, spatial and temporal aspects of editing. Graphic editing at the beginning and end of
this clip work to demonstrate Elliot s feelings towards ET before and after they meet for the first time.
The first 15 seconds of the clip consist of a single head on shot of Elliot as he peers into the cornfield.
Tall corn stalks obstruct the camera s view of Elliot allowing only slices of his face to show. The beam
from his flashlight peaks throughout the corn in select places sometimes blinding the lense in a way
that makes the rest of the scene unseeable. The face that we cannot clearly see Elliot s face but rather
his outline is similar to the way the mysterious men are shown at the ... Show more content on

These faceless men represent the unknown and curiosity that surrounds ET. The similarities to those
men and Elliot in this scene hilight Elliot s feelings towards ET at the beginning of the clip as those of
curiosity rather than fear. Additionally, the movement of the shadows across Elliot s face and the
solidarity of the focal point in this shot create an eerie and suspenseful emotional effect. The graphics
at the end of the clip indicate what Elliot plans to do next in reference to ET. The camera shows Elliot
as he gazes longingly towards the something in front of him. The next shot, positioned towards the
staircase leading up and out of Elliot s backyard, uses the eyeline match tactic to show what Elliot is
gazing at. A red light at the top of the hill demands the attention in the shot. Similar to the green light
in The Great Gatsby, this red light shows Elliot s desire. The red light highlighting his face from above
surrounds the shot in hopeful and inspired emotions. The way the final

Future Nurse Research Paper
Preparing to become a nurse includes many challenging factors such as leadership and diversity.
Leadership is a very important factor because as a nurse, it is important to listen to a patient s concerns
and act on them to help their patients. As important as leadership is to preparing to be a future nurse, it
is not the sole contributing factor. Diversity is another essential component that I believe is necessary
to allow us to learn and grow together with different cultural, racial, and ethnic groups. I have had
many experiences of both leadership and diversity that will help prepare me to be a future nurse.
One of my personal experiences that has developed my leadership skills was when I was a mentor to
young children during Sunday school throughout the duration of my high school career. Mentoring
these children has given me a vast amount of great leadership qualities due to all of the responsibilities
that come with looking after young children which gave me practice of looking after people like
nurses do. There was diversity throughout the Sunday school class as well, not by varying religion, but
due to the dissimilar backgrounds of children who came ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

very beneficial for a nurse who has patients that primarily speak Spanish. I have also taken a Latin
American Studies course and an American Indian Studies course here at our university, which have
had major contributions to help me broaden my knowledge outside of the parameters of the United
States and to help my understanding of the importance of many cultures living together as

What We Knew Research Paper
There are several reasons as to why Germans were the perpetrators. Some of those reasons include,
the emancipation of the Jews, economy, and Hitler rising to power. In my essay, I will be referring to
two book. Why? By Peter Hayes and What We Knew, by Eric A Johnson and Karl Heinz Reuband.
First I will be discussing the emancipation of the Jews. Peter Hayes mentions how the emancipation
was part of the French import (Hayes,39). Of course, many Germans were not happy about this. For
example, Johann Gottlieb Fichte. On page thirty nine, it states Now he flatly argued that making Jews
free German citizens would hurt the German nation and identified antisemitism with German
patriotism (Hayes, 39). This already sets the standard for having Germans think that anti Semitism is
being proud of your country. In 1819, riots came into play. They were violent and took place in
Wurzburg and Frankfurt. The ones who started the riots were craftsmen and merchants who were
angry of the potential competitions against the Jews if they were allowed to be citizens. There was still

Youth. Hubert Lutz said, if you did something really nasty, you were not allowed to wear your scarf

Rolf Herberer said this about the Hitler Youth, the Hitler Youth were always making trips somewhere.

Syntax In Letter From Birmingham Jail
Words have the ability to spark change in the world around us; the way one conducts and organizes his
words can start an innovation among a world of blind people. In 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. was
imprisoned in the Birmingham Jail for being a participant in a non violent demonstration against
segregation. While imprisoned, he wrote the infamous Letter from Birmingham Jail in response to a
public statement of concern issued by eight white religious leaders of the South. King brings hope for
positive change that the white clergymen will understand the underlying problems and the necessity
for an alternative mindset . He stresses on the need for action and acceptance of colored people with
his influential words, rather sooner than later. By inspiring sympathy through emotional and credible
appeals and demonstrating an obvious logic through sophisticated syntax, King effectively argues the
need for a civil rights movement. King s powerful words are intended to create compassion and
empathy for the humans who suffer from segregation. But when you have seen vicious mobs lynch ...

Sports Injuries In Sports
Introduction
Sports injuries are common in the athletic world; some are minor while others are severe. Sports
injuries are any type of injury that occurs during exercise or sports (Stoppler Jr., 2014). Sports injuries
can be both physical and mental. Unfortunately, these injuries can lead to diseases and death such as
Chris Benoit and Aaron Hernandez who both died in the twenty first century. People need to focus
more on the mental health of players, for it is just as important as physical health. Therefore, it is the
sports organization job, such as the World Wrestling Entertainment and the National Football League,
to promote better mental health protection in sports to reduce sports injuries.
Chris Benoit s Death
Sports injuries can severely affect an athlete s mental health despite the player being physically well.
There are many sports that athletes can become seriously injured in such as wrestling. For example,
Chris Benoit was a famous World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) superstar who appeared to be
normal. Over his twenty five year career with WWE, he amassed over twenty two championships. In
2007, police were sent to his house to seek Benoit after he missed various appointments and meetings;
unfortunately, the officers discovered the body of Mr. Benoit, Mrs. Benoit, and their seven year old
son (Hewitt, 2016). Sadly, Chris Benoit killed his wife by jamming one knee into her back while
strangling her with a cord. He covered her body with a sheet and left a bible

Indian Colonies Under British Rule
Colonies under European rule manifested in two main forms: extractive colonies that were a way for
colonisers to both access a new market and extract resources as they saw fit and civilising missions
that attempted to bring Western norms and values to indigenous people under the guise of religion
alongside a notion of local culture being savage. At times there were also conflicts between colonising
powers over territory that would consequently be transferred from one to the other. India was once
part of the British Empire and despite being a thriving nation today, it has had a number of laws
imposed on it both during colonization and globalization that have had significant social, economic
and political impact. One of the main consequences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Marriage in Britain was a largely independent affari compared to India where, once married, the wife
would proceed to live with her husband and his family. The consequence of changes to inheritance law
was that, while in Britain a widow s choice was to either keep the meager inheritance she got and
enjoy her independence or remarry and share the money with her new husband, in India things got far
more complicated because of deep seated notions of marriage and widowhood that hinged on
unequivocally Indian norms, values and culture. If a woman were to receive money under the change
in law there would be significant resentment from her late husband s family. The widow had a high
chance of still living with his family resulting in a cloistered but not sheltered existence. Sexuality and
autonomy were often controlled by the families based on notions of female sexuality and as a way of
preserving caste and offspring. Despite this Indian women were often sexually active, although more
often than not, there was a lack of consent. Moreover, remarriage was not a viable option for most
widows as the deeply rooted Hinduism in India promoted notions of ascetic widowhood . Thus slowly,
almost as a reaction to the British hijacking on Indian culture and law, customary laws began to be
replaced by a far more Hindu

Trans Fats
Trans fats are produced as a result of partial hydrogenation of the unsaturated fats18. Partially
hydrogenated oils have been used in the food products for their higher oxidative stability and the
harder texture they provide to the food product18. Several metabolic studies concluded that trans fats
increased the low density lipoprotein content and decreased the high density lipoprotien content of the
blood19 20. Other health effects of TFA include raising the fasting triacylglycerides (TAG) levels20

increased risk for coronary heart disease. Trans fat consumption has been also linked to the occurrence
of coronary artery disease19. Studies also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The process can be achieved by chemical or enzymatic routes. The change in the TAG composition
has been known to change the crystallization properties of the fats including the microstructure 28,

spreadability, flavor release, hardness of fats in the final application. Schmidt et. al31 studied and

the solid fat content of both the interesterified fats compared to the non interesterified fat at lower

The Last Of The Mohicans Characters Essay
The main character in The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper is Hawkeye. Hawkeye is
a american woodsman that agrees, with his indian companions to help the group get to Fort William
Henry. Cooper calls him many names including The Long Rifle, the scout, and La Longue Carabine.
Hawkeye s character changes consistently throughout the book. I am going to analyze how Hawkeye
acts at the beginning of the book, compared to the middle and the end. To start, Hawkeye acts in a
unique way at the beginning of the book. The first thing that you can see about him is that he clearly
does not trust any member of the Huron tribe. You can see this as Hawkeye is unrelenting as he claims
that the Huron that was supposed to guide the group to the fort, is instead leading Heyward and the
girls towards an ambush. He is also very proud of his abilities with the rifle. This is shown when
Heyward points out that Hawkeye missed the fleeing Huron. Hawkeye seems to get very defensive
and claims that if anyone else had pulled the trigger, they would have missed by far more than
Hawkeye did. However, he does willingly help Heyward, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Uncas and Chingachgook like indian companions, but more as great friends and family members.

Essay on Legalization of Marijuana
Legalization of Marijuana
One debate that keeps coming up time and again is the topic of the legalization of marijuana.
Marijuana is the most widely used illegal drug.
Nearly one in three teenagers have at least tried marijuana by the time they graduate high school. It is
also gets the most publicity for its legalization.
Over thirty pro legalization organizations have been displayed on the Internet alone. The legalization
of marijuana , although popular by today s drug culture, would be a very dangerous and detrimental
act for the United States to take part in. Not only would it destroy families, but would also lead to the

family close and involved in each other s life.
The effects of marijuana and other drugs destroys families enough now, but if it were to become legal
then that number would raise and so would the number of broken homes. We are at a time when our
family structure has already been destroy and where we should be working to rebuild that important
aspect of life.
Legalizing marijuana would not be the way to do that.
Marijuana is famous for making a person lazy and lackadaisical. We are a point in our country when
we have the most amount of unemployment. When already thousands of people are happy living off
welfare, we want to make people even lazier? This is not to say that all people that are unemployed are
lazy or smoke pot for that matter, but if people were more lazy then we already are, it could only mean
bad things for the development of our country. In an age of technological advancements, why slow
down progress with pot?
Although it could be argued that marijuana should be legal for everyone to have, the argument loses to
the hard core facts that can be seen be common sense. Marijuana is a drug that remains illegal. Users
can continue to buy it on the streets, where it belongs. Prohibition is something that should remain for
the good of the

Essay on The Concerto
The Concerto
Since the Baroque era, the concerto has played a vital role in the music world. According to the
Merriam Webster dictionary, a concerto is a composition for one or more soloists and orchestra with
three contrasting movements. There are two main types: the concerto grosso and the classical
concerto; both will be discussed later. While the term concerto is relatively easy to understand in
context, when put into use the term becomes more complicated to define.
The basic elements that make up a concerto include three movements with one movement usually
dedicated for a solo instrument such as the piano or violin with orchestra accompaniment. Since the
late 18th century, the first movement is most likely in the sonata form ... Show more content on

By doing this, the sound made by the groups swells, portraying to the audience a sound of growth and
progression. According to the textbook Music Appreciation Online, in this type of concerto, a tutti
section, a full orchestra (with basso continuo), and a small group of solo instruments usually referred
to as the concertino or principale is used. In the concertino section, two or more soloists are used.
Arcangelo Corelli was the first major composer of the concerti grossi (the Italian form of the concerto
grosso). The concerto grosso comes in two major forms: the concerto da chiesa (church chant) and the
concerto da camera (chamber concert). The concerto da chiesa was used for formal occasions and
alternated between adagio and allegro movements. For the most part, the movements were written in
the same key, however there were occasions where one or more of the movements were in contrasting
tonality. The sonata de camera was made up of a prelude and a succession of dances that were all in
the same key. Its structure was that of a slow introduction, a fugued allegro, a cantabile slow
movement and an energetic finale. This setup created its dancelike sound and feeling. The sonata da
camera composition grew to be referred to as a suite, a partita, or in the French opera

Essay on general psych
Through my semester in General Psychology Taking Psychology has taught me a lot more than I

By predicting behavior, psychologists try to determine if a person is likely to make healthy or
unhealthy decisions when confronted with certain situations. Most psychologist use experiments to
make predictions.
Part of what I learned in psychology is about Psychological science and when it was born . Also, some
of psychology s first graduate students studied the atoms of the mind by conducting experiments in
Leipzig, Germany in 1879. American philosopher William James wrote an important 1890 psychology
textbook. Mary Calkins, James s student, became the APA s first female president.
Psychology has taught me other ways to look at science. It has taught me that science is a discipline
that demonstrates an organized body of knowledge. The scientific method is observing phenomena,
formulating hypothesis. A hypothesis is a tentative explanation that can be tested and then accepted or
rejected. Psychology has taught me other ways to look at science and different ways to define the
terms.
What does a psychologist do? A psychologist is basically a scientist conducting research and testing
hypotheses. Science practitioners are clinical or counseling psychologists. Psychology s past and
present include French philosopher Rene Decartes( 1596 1650). Also, john Locke(1632 1704), who

Academic Advising Virtual Team
The team that I would like to discuss going virtual would be the Academic Advising team at Baker
College. The newly designed virtual team would be answering all student questions by email, phone
or chat. Academic Advisors work from home; the position would be completely remote. An economic
advantage of this virtual team for Baker College would be the decrease in office supplies (paper, ink,
office space and shredding services).
Communications between the team members would be the first strategy to be developed. Email would
be the primary communication method. Training for staff happens prior to the professional advising
team going live virtually. Brought together for training, employees would have the opportunity to
build social relationships with each other as well as the leader (Katzenbach Smith, 2013). All staff
have the opportunity to share best practices or better ways to complete tasks and communicate moving
forward. Team members can share with the leader ways to improve so they can collaborate on new
processes that are more efficient as the virtual team develops (Katzenbach Smith, 2013). Future
communications outside of in person trainings, which are twice a year, would be weekly team update
emails. A weekly team update email is implemented rather than ... Show more content on

The Conservation Of Endangered Animals
Endangered Animals
Endangered animals are a species with less than 2500 of that specific kind remaining and if their
population is expected to drop by 50 percent within 10 years (c 15). In other cases some animals are
naturally rare(c 8). Until the mid 20th century, these animals weren t paid too much attention, until the
study of environmental science and ecology took off. At this time conservation groups started coming
up because they noticed these animals were becoming an immediate threat. Unfortunately these
organizations could not do much only campaign against direct killing(c 10). The extinction of these
animals is led by many factors, some of which these conservation groups had no control over such as
natural extinction, which is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next species that are about to be mentioned are few of many endangered animals and are not any
less or more important than the others. Flatwoods Salamander, scientifically known as Ambystoma
cingulatum. This salamander is small in size ranging from 3.5 to 5 inches in length with a slim body
and a very small head. It has a gray colored pattern on its sides and dorsum and light flecks on the
venter. They can be found beneath logs near cypress ponds, pitcher plant bogs, and swamps. Their
prefered habitat is known to be the slash pine flatwoods. In November is when most of their breeding
takes place where 100 to 200 eggs are laid in small groups under logs near cypress tupelo ponds or
Pond Cypress. They leave those eggs abandoned which later then hatch once the site is flooded by
rain. The adults and larvae diet consist of a wide variety of invertebrates(56). These Flatwoods
Salamander have become endangered due to deforestation, residential or commercial development,
and silviculture which are all destroying their habitats. The harvest of crayfish as bait is harming the
larvae because when the harvesters drag their large hardware cloth buckets through inundated
vegetation they drag along some larvae that are then either collected as bait or left to die(IUCN) Green

Analysis Of William Mortimer J. Adler s Article Analysis
In Mortimer J. Adler s article How to Mark a Book, he argues that you should mark up your book to
note significant information. Adler argues, through rhetorical appeals and fallacies, that as you write in
a book it becomes absorbed in your bloodstream, and allows you to fully own the book. As readers
searching for these techniques we can become immune to the fallacies by recognizing them and
thereby acknowledging the argument for what it truly is. How to Mark A Book, uses an abundance of
logos in addition to other convincing techniques to persuade you, the reader, to mark up your book.
First, for any analysis of an argument, we must find who is claiming what (Lunsford, Ruszkiewicz and
Walter 94). In this article, that person is Mortimer Jerome Adler; an American philosopher, educator
and writer. His publisher, The Saturday Review of Literature, commonly publish pieces similar to
How to Mark a Book including: A.L Rowse: A Study in Versatility, The A.L.A(American Library
Association) Convention and Education of a Commentator.
Based on the title of the publisher and their various publications, we can assume that the broad
audience of the article are people with an interest in literature itself. However, due to the vast amount
of detail and description in the article, we can quite safely derive that the narrow audience are people
directly involved in education. While the article seems promising to high school and college students,

Stereotypes And Exploitation Of Gender Profiling
Abstract. Successful investigations of the process of gender embodiment must use these three basic
principles. First nature/nurture is indivisible. Second organisms humans and otherwise are active
processes, moving targets, from fertilization until death. Third, no single academic or clinical
discipline provides us with the true or best way to understand human sexuality (Fausto Sterling, 2000)
Throughout this study I compared to of the largest toy brands in the world LEGO and Barbie, they are
both iconic pop culture symbols and were perfect for this paper. Researching thoroughly the effects
that negative stereotypes and exploitation of gender profiling can have. Through this investigation I
believe it was found that attitudes towards genders shift over time and as time goes by the attitudes
towards women for example in the work place have become more liberal. However there will always
be negative connotations around these matters as everyone s ideologies are different. It is an
interesting and important topic that everyone from all backgrounds, social statues and ethnicities are
part of yet it is a very multi layered and complicated topic as there are so many factors that come into
play.
Intro.
Gender is complex (Lippa, A R 1994) there are unlimited influences that affect each and every one of
us as we develop as human beings; we are all unique models, shaped not only by our DNA but also by

The Steady Rise in Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence Over the years the violence has been on the rise worldwide. This influx in the rate
of violence has been impacting our lives and most importantly there has been a significant rise in the
domestic violence. The main victims have been the females and they have been persecuted in a
number of ways and it has not helped their cause at all. Domestic violence against the females has
existed for centuries now and time and again there have been cases where they were forced to the limit
but things have never become so gloomy and open as they are now. When the violence starts to
infringe upon the right of the other person then it starts to take the form of crime. Such criminal acts
have been rising by and far over the past many decades and more and more cases are coming forward.
It is not only a social case anymore but also a social issue, which needs to be addressed as the society,
and the lifestyles have to be well and truly preserved. To do away with these criminal activities one
would need to identify what are the real acts of violence and domestic problems being faced by
couples and females and only then can a viable solution be suggested to keep the things in order. Over
the years there have been a lot of respite in regard to this case by having laws and acts to provide
cover for such issues. So what are the primary goals of any good criminal justice system? The answer
is simple that is to make it a more just, fair and equitable society for all. By

Stereotypes In Nursing Essay
Why is nursing mainly a women s career? Women are seen as caregivers, therefore the role of a nurse
is adequate for a woman since she women are supposed to be nurturing and caring. Nursing is often
considered women s work, so often times males shy away from the career resulting in a few male
nurses and many female nurses. As a result, many of the stereotypes associated with nursing are
gender based. An RCN policy adviser and mental health nurse from Nursing Times: Why Are There

Hd Tv Transition
In a world of Hulu, HD TV, and online streaming, the television industry has had no choice but to
embrace shifting consumer trends within the industry. Now that Internet streaming has allowed
consumers to watch whatever they want, whenever they want, it is becoming harder for cable
providers to keep up with consumer demand. Television broadcasters must take advantage of the
bandwidth that they have available to them if they are to compete in the viewing market. With
streaming sites such as Hulu, Amazon, and Netflix gaining competitive advantage in the market,
television broadcasters can no longer sit back and continue to run as they always have. Accordingly,
these television stations have begun making much needed modifications. Since 2009, television
broadcasters have begun shutting down their analog systems and converting to strictly digital in
compliance with the Digital Television Transition and Public Safety Act. In February of 2009, the
FCC required all hybrid television producers, including companies such as Time Warner Cable and

The Seven Miracles Of Christ Essay
Introduction
Throughout the New Testament are recounts of the miracles that Jesus performed to give proof that He
was indeed the Son of God and the Messiah foretold of in the Old Testament. John chose to recount
only seven of the many miracles that Jesus performed. He felt that these seven, more than any of the
others, showed definitive proof that the Messiah, the Son of God, had come as promised.
The First Miracle John 2:1 11
The first of the seven miracles that John recounts is the turning of water into wine. John notes that this
miracle marks the beginning of Jesus signs to His disciples and the world. Jesus and his mother are
invited to a wedding during which the hosts run out of wine. When the servants come to Mary and tell

Jesus initial response seems somewhat hard and insensitive to me, but as Laney notes He is addressing
the Jewish people in general and the fact that they have a need to see signs to justify their faith.
(Laney, 1992, p.102)
The nobleman asks Jesus again to come and save his son. Jesus tells the man that he can go home; that
his son will live. Now, what I find interesting is that the nobleman didn t even question Jesus or
continue begging him to come with him. The nobleman simply left to go home believing that what
Jesus had said was true. There is no mention anywhere in the Gospel of John of this man or how he
knew of Jesus. It makes sense to me that the nobleman must have witnessed one of Jesus thereby
reinforcing his faith in Him. The illness that afflicted the nobleman s son shows us how weak, frail
and mortal we are. Jesus healing of the man s son shows us that we can be healed of our sins but only
through Him are we saved. He shows that we can have eternal life through Him.
The Third Miracle John 5:1 18 When Jesus goes to Jerusalem He finds there a man who is lame, an
invalid. This man tells Jesus that he is unable to get to the pool by the sheep gate where the waters can
heal him. Jesus could tell that the man had been sick for a very long time; thirty eight years according
to John. So, He asked the man if he wanted to get well. Thinking

Slavery In The Canterbury Tales, By Geoffrey Chaucer
The Canterbury Tales is a collection of more than 20 stories, written in Middle English around the
1380s, during the Hundred Years War, by Geoffrey Chaucer. Within a narrative about a pilgrimage,
(from Southwark to the shrine of Saint Thomas Becket at Canterbury Cathedral) Chaucer sets a series
of stories. These collection of stories are built around a frame narrative, which was an already
established and common genre of the 14th century. (The tales are in verse, except The Parson s Tale
and Chaucer s own story of Melibee which are in prose.) Chaucer s collection of tales differs from
other story compilations, since most story collections are focused on a theme, usually on a religious
one. In Boccaccio s Decameron (which contains more parallels ... Show more content on

Also, Chaucer doesn t pay much attention to depict the pilgrimage. The pilgrimage is a tool, used to
gather the different classes of the English society of its period. Chaucer s attention is focused on the
stories being told, not on the journey itself. Also, the tales continually mirror the clashes between
social classes. These classes can be divided into three main groups: the commoners and peasantry, the
nobility and the clergy. The Wife of Bath s Tale belongs to the second one, and deals with the subject
of authority in married life. This story is unusual in the collection, since its prologue is longer than the
actual tale. For the other tales, the prologue is a kind of introduction, but The Wife of Bath s Tale is
more like a sequel to its prologue. The prologue is the autobiography of The Wife(Alyson), in which
she tells us much about herself. She speaks directly from her experience of marrige, while her tale is
an illustration of her theories. In the General Prologue we can learn about The Wife s physical
appearance, her way of life, and her character, while Chaucer introduces hints, which he intends to
extend later in the narrative.

The First World War Was A Time Of Huge Change For Technology
The first world war was a time of huge change for technologies and many innovations were made. The
first of the three I will write about is the change of machine guns and how useful and significant they
were in the first world war.
On the one hand, machine guns could be said to be significant because of the extra fire power they
provided on a battlefield. It has been estimated that a machine gun creates the equivalent to anywhere
between 60 to 100 rifles, depending on the source, in from one weapon. This gave an army defending
a position a huge advantage over the attacking side and almost certainly prolonged the stalemate as
breaking enemy lines became so difficult as reaching the enemy trench was a near impossible thing to
do with the machine gun firing at the attacking men. It has been estimated that around 20% of the
casualties of world war 1 were caused by the machine gun. and This figure is very high considering all
the possible causes of death in the battlefields of WW1. What also made the machine gun of the first
world war significant was how it affected the future. These early models were the basis of a weapon

Personal Injury In Sports Essay
Personal Injuries That Can Happen At The Ballpark
Have you ever read the disclaimer on the back of your ticket to a baseball games? It says that there is a
chance that foul balls or bats can go into the stands during the game, and you assume the risk of injury
by purchasing a ticket to the baseball game. Does this mean that you are out of luck if you are injured
in a freak accident while enjoying a game? The law may actually be on your side in this situation.
There are only a few cases where the courts sided with the stadiums or sports teams in personal injury
cases, since fans often win their case or settle outside of court. For instance, there was a 2002 case
where a teenager was killed by a wild puck in a hockey game that went over the ... Show more content

A foul ball struck a woman behind the safety net a baseball game in Pittsburgh back in 2015, which
was an area that was supposed to be safe from foul balls..
Broken Bats
It s possible that a bat could shatter upon impact with the ball, causing pieces of wood to go flying into
the stands. While not as common as a foul ball, it poses a serious risk of injury to those attending the
game. Any injury suffered from a broken bat is worth pursuing legal action to compensate you for the
damages.
An incident in Boston caused a man to be struck by pieces of a broken bat while sitting along the foul
lines between home plate and 1st base. This incident has actually caused the ballpark to re evaluate
how far the safety nets extend, which is an indication that something could have been done to prevent
the injury from occurring. Currently, safety nets do not extend to the dugouts, which is an area prone
to projectiles at a high speed.
Injuries at the ballpark are not just limited to projectiles flying into the stadium, but can also be caused
by a slip and fall. If you are in need of help getting the compensation you deserve for a personal injury
case at the ballpark, don t assume you are out of luck because of that disclaimer on the ticket. Know

Theory of Knowledge Essay
Knowledge can be gained and interpreted in many different ways. It all depends on how people
prioritize different ways of knowing and how they perceive what knowledge is. This has led to the
question, Does knowledge consist solely of proven facts and information that can be organized in a
coherent manner, or is knowledge deeper, depending not only on facts, but also on interpretation
stemming from individual experiences? The question is, are facts alone enough to constitute
knowledge or do those facts need to be interpreted under guidance of personal experiences in order to
gain knowledge. In two areas of knowledge that have a large role in my life, natural science and
religion, I can see both sides to the argument.
There are many times that I agree with the statement that knowledge is nothing more than the
systematic organization of facts. Facts are, as Eugenie Carol Scott states in her book Evolution vs.
Creationism, confirmed observations that can be disproven upon further study (Scott 12). When facts
are systematically organized, meaning they are put in a certain order for a specific reason, in a way
that allows each piece of information to support the previous information, a coherent synthesis of
knowledge is able to be gained. In the natural sciences, this organization of facts is almost entirely
logic based. Scientists have to examine what they know and draw conclusions by piecing together
facts that make sense. Scientists cannot change the knowledge they have due

Family Capitalism And The 19th Century
Family capitalism is regarded to firms that are operated by family and its family member, although it
is also known as perpetuation of family capitalism, which means long live and long lasting, they
usually could not be passed on by more than one generation (Jones and Rose, 1993). Since the early
20th Century, among the world, Europe had a concentration of the largest ten and twenty companies in
countries that are under family control. For instance in France at the beginning of the 21st Century,
only 15 families had controlled 33.8% of the total market value of listed corporate assets; and in
Germany, family firms hold 17 of the largest hundred companies. However on the other hand, there
was only 6.6% of market value that were hold by family firms in the United Kingdom (James, 2008).
The aim of this essay is to explain whether Cadbury was a typical family capitalism in the 19th
Century. I will argue that Cadbury was not a typical family capitalism as they held the Quaker beliefs
that made them different from other family firms; they also had a different organisation structure and
management style; and they lasted longer than the other family firms at that time. This essay is
structure as follows; first, I will explain the Quaker belief and how it made Cadbury different from
other family firms; then I will examine Cadbury s organisation structure and management style; and
finally, I will look at the durability of Cadbury and compare it with another family firm.

Comparing Pisan s and Plato s Views on the Roles of Women...
Comparing Pisan s and Plato s Views on the Roles of Women
It is hardly fair to make a true judgement on whose view of women was more sensible. For one reason
Pisan was a women and Plato was a man. It has taken thousand of years for women to accomplish
equality towards men now so Pisan s view could be seen as before her time. Although, Pisan s view
seems more sensible I can see how Plato s view could also be sensible for his time and place. In
Christine De Pisan s The book of the city of ladies, in the beginning she began to examine her own
character as a natural women. She looked at women who surround her form the highest a princess to
the lowest a lower class woman. She tried to examine the ideas this philosopher had said to ... Show

After this was told to her she realized that those feeling that she felt in the beginning about how they
talked about women so badly. At the end her view was that women are capable of being educated. Her
idea is based upon smarts alone and not on physical nature. Her view of women seems to be more
sensible to me growing in the 20th century. We have learned over the years that because you are a
women does not mean that you are incapable of being equal to a man. Although in physical strength
men have gotten us by far mentally women are able to compete with men. As for Plato s believes that
men and women are not equal. He believes that men were born and educated like citizens. He also
believes that the only way of arriving at a right conclusion about the possession and use of women and
children is to follow the path on which we originally started, when we said that the men were to be the
guardians and watchdogs of the herd. Plato also stated that the birth and education of women to be
subject to similar or nearly similar regulations. Then you shall see whether the result is in accordance
with the male design. Plato then states the question are dogs divided into hes and shes, or do they both
share equally in hunting and in keeping watch and in the other duties of dogs? Or do we entrust to the
males the entire and exclusive care of the flocks, while we leave the females at home, under the idea
that the bearing and suckling their

  • 2. Difference Between Sejong The Great And Kamehameha Kamehameha and Sejong the Great King Kamehameha was the first ruler of the Hawaiian Islands. His reign was from July, 1782 to May 8 or 14, 1819 (Chosonkorea.org). Sejong Daewang was the king of the Joseon dynasty Korea (now known either as North and South Korea) and his reign was from 1418 to 1450 (Chosonkorea.org). The two leaders ruled their land in many similar and different ways. Their behavior while ruling was also similar, yet different in many ways as well. Sejong s pathway to becoming a ruler was much simpler than Kamehameha s. Sejong was not supposed to be the ruler of the Joseon Dynasty. He easily and simply became king (Thoughtco.com). Kamehameha s route, on the other hand, was rife with war, blood, and hardships. Kamehameha had to take parts in many wars and strategizing in order to become the ruler of the Hawaiian Islands. Kamehameha the Great is most known for unifying all the Hawaiian Islands together and Sejong the Great is most known for creating the Korean language (Hangul). Both rulers are still known as leaders who impacted their land and their people. Kamehameha the Great and Sejong the Great were two very effective leaders. Similarly, both Kamehameha and Sejong were both very studious. Kamehameha was trained to be a very skilled warrior and ruler. He and his society was advanced in trading, growing crops, and more (Potter, Kasdon, and Rayson 23). Sejong was always reading and created many inventions during his reign (Newworldencyclopedia.org). • 3. The Relevant Theories Of Advertising 2.2.2. Relevant Theories of Advertising When discussing within the advertising sector, a universally praised model must to mention is AIDA model. Lewis (1898) first proposed the concept to describe the steps of consumer behaviour that occurred from the time when a consumer first became aware of a product or brand through to when the consumer tried a product or made a purchase decision (Priyanka, 2013). The model had four psychological stages including awareness, interest, desire, and action (Hassan et al., 2015). It was a useful formula to help marketers develop effective communication strategies as well as to understand how consumers respond to advertising. However, AIDA model was generated in the environment where advertisers took ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fundamental factors that were identified to develop the psychological processes include perception, learning, memory, thinking, emotion and motivation (Sternberg 1996). Following the structure of the SOR model, Howard first (1969) proposed the consumer decision making model (Richarme, M., 2005), which was further developed to be the Theory of Buyer Behaviour (Howard et al., 1973). The model considered environment stimulus as variables impacting consumes, and was triggered from various sources. These inputs included core elements of products such as price, quality that the buyer truly confronts (Loudon et al., 1993) as well as symbolic stimuli resulted from advertising. Besides, social stimuli including family, peer and other reference groups also influence consumers before entering the decision process (Foxall 1990). In contrast, Engel et al (1995) did not focus on environmental factors, but paid more attention to the hypothetical construction of the decision process that was the main organism being influenced by inputs. The entire organism was structured around a seven point decision process: need recognition followed by an internally and externally information search, the evaluation of alternatives, purchase, post purchase reflection and disposal. Aligning with Howard (1973), mainly two factors significantly affected these decisions. First, market stimuli affected consumer s information process which was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Barbara Brown Taylor s An Altar In The World Many people consider themselves spiritual, but they would not consider themselves religious. People seek deep meaning in everyday life, but they are not church goers. Barbara Brown Taylor seeks to speak into this divide in An Altar in the World by revealing meaningful practices to discover the sacred in everyday life. Taylor outlines twelve practices addressing vision, reverence, incarnation, groundedness, wilderness, community, vocation, Sabbath, physical labor, breakthrough, prayer, benediction and how through these simple practices we can engage God in different and new ways. Taylor seems to pair her twelve practices as she progresses. Therefore, she opens with the practice of waking up to God celebrating vision. This is the practice of awakening to seeing the presence of God in all that we do. This is accomplished by acknowledging the divine when it happens in the midst of life and taking time to stop long enough to reflect on where you are, who you are with and how awesome that place is in the moment. This practice pairs nicely with the practice of paying attention. Playing attention is the practice of having reverence for everything in life. While this is a rather nebulous chapter from Taylor the practice focuses on intentionally coming before God and being transparent and available to God. The finally chapter, the practice of pronouncing blessings, deals with benediction. Pronouncing blessing express a common wisdom that acknowledge the world for what it is and embracing it with gratitude as we have been embraced with God. Benedictions are a blessing to send people on their way. When we practice pronouncing blessing we affirm God in all things and send other in God presence as we wish and practice to be in God ... • 5. Advantages And Disadvantages Of An Organization Each person is unique and have different beliefs and lifestyles. It is very rare to find two individuals who are exactly alike when referring to the way of thinking and interpreting many things. People may come from the same background, but tend to have different perspectives about certain situations. Culture is defined in many ways and can be defined differently in the workplace, in a family, or at a restaurant. As stated before, people can obtain a certain culture. Different generations may inherit the same culture, and an organization may have a certain culture they practice. If everyone tend to think the same, will there be new discoveries and theories? If everyone was the same, will there be less discrimination and judgement? These questions both emphasize the benefits of an organization that may have members who live by the same culture and disadvantages when there are various cultures in an organization. In this world today, people most likely experience these advantages and disadvantages in an organization. People should be able to view the world through a cultural lense, especially in the workplace. During the hiring process, Theobald seeks for students who have exposure to people from different cultural backgrounds or those who are open to interact with students with different learning styles. • 6. Timeless And Timelessness In Literature One theme in literature, and British literature alike, is timelessness. Many pieces that are famous have been passed down through generations and readers all over the world still relate to it through love or comedy. Two works that capture timelessness and universality are A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning written by John Donne and Much Ado About Nothing written by William Shakespeare. What often draws people to literature is raw emotion. A Valediction: Forbidding Mourning perfectly fits the raw emotion and timelessness with true love. This poem by John Donne captivates readers imaginations through his idea of love extending past death and the eternal love of two people. Love songs and love stories endure time because they are always relevant because love is always relevant. Donne s poem can be used in a variety of situations and has endured because of the sweetness and vulnerability of it. Donne writes, Thy firmness makes my circle just, / And makes me end where I begun, (Donne 35 36). These lines are one part of a conceit that likens his and his wife s love to a compass and that she completes him. If people are in love, romantic gestures and nice words can make the love grow stronger, so the message of Donne continues to be passed on through people in love. Poems like this make hearts swell and, on the education side, use many aspects of figurative language. Diversity is another essential component that I believe is necessary to allow us to learn and grow together with different cultural, racial, and ethnic groups. Peter Hayes mentions how the emancipation was part of the French import (Hayes,39). Of course, many Germans were not happy about this. For example, Johann Gottlieb Fichte. On page thirty nine, it states Now he flatly argued that making Jews free German citizens would hurt the German nation and identified antisemitism with German patriotism (Hayes, 39). This already sets the standard for having Germans think that anti Semitism is being proud of your country. In 1819, riots came into play. They were violent and took place in Wurzburg and Frankfurt. In 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. was imprisoned in the Birmingham Jail for being a participant in a non violent demonstration against segregation. At times there were also conflicts between colonising powers over territory that would consequently be transferred from one to the other. The consequence of changes to inheritance law was that, while in Britain a widow s choice was to either keep the meager inheritance she got and enjoy her independence or remarry and share the money with her new husband, in India things got far more complicated because of deep seated notions of marriage and widowhood that hinged on unequivocally Indian norms, values and culture. If a woman were to receive money under the change in law there would be significant resentment from her late husband s family. The widow had a high chance of still living with his family resulting in a cloistered but not sheltered existence. Sexuality and autonomy were often controlled by the families based on notions of female sexuality and as a way of preserving caste and offspring. Despite this Indian women were often sexually active, although more often than not, there was a lack of consent. While the term concerto is relatively easy to understand in context, when put into use the term becomes more complicated to define. According to the textbook Music Appreciation Online, in this type of concerto, a tutti section, a full orchestra (with basso continuo), and a small group of solo instruments usually referred to as the concertino or principale is used. In the concertino section, two or more soloists are used. Arcangelo Corelli was the first major composer of the concerti grossi (the Italian form of the concerto grosso). The concerto grosso comes in two major forms: the concerto da chiesa (church chant) and the concerto da camera (chamber concert). The concerto da chiesa was used for formal occasions and alternated between adagio and allegro movements. For the most part, the movements were written in the same key, however there were occasions where one or more of the movements were in contrasting tonality. As readers searching for these techniques we can become immune to the fallacies by recognizing them and thereby acknowledging the argument for what it truly is. How to Mark A Book, uses an abundance of logos in addition to other convincing techniques to persuade you, the reader, to mark up your book. Now, what I find interesting is that the nobleman didn t even question Jesus or continue begging him to come with him. The nobleman simply left to go home believing that what Jesus had said was true. The first of the three I will write about is the change of machine guns and how useful and significant they were in the first world war. On the one hand, machine guns could be said to be significant because of the extra fire power they provided on a battlefield. It has been estimated that a machine gun creates the equivalent to anywhere between 60 to 100 rifles, depending on the source, in from one weapon. This gave an army defending a position a huge advantage over the attacking side and almost certainly prolonged the stalemate as breaking enemy lines became so difficult as reaching the enemy trench was a near impossible thing to do with the machine gun firing at the attacking men. It has been estimated that around 20% of the casualties of world war 1 were caused by the machine gun. and This figure is very high considering all the possible causes of death in the battlefields of WW1. An incident in Boston caused a man to be struck by pieces of a broken bat while sitting along the foul lines between home plate and 1st base. This incident has actually caused the ballpark to re evaluate how far the safety nets extend, which is an indication that something could have been done to prevent the injury from occurring. Currently, safety nets do not extend to the dugouts, which is an area prone to projectiles at a high speed. Injuries at the ballpark are not just limited to projectiles flying into the stadium, but can also be caused by a slip and fall. If you are in need of help getting the compensation you deserve for a personal injury case at the ballpark, don t assume you are out of luck because of that disclaimer on the ticket. • 40. Theory of Knowledge Essay Knowledge can be gained and interpreted in many different ways. It all depends on how people prioritize different ways of knowing and how they perceive what knowledge is. This has led to the question, Does knowledge consist solely of proven facts and information that can be organized in a coherent manner, or is knowledge deeper, depending not only on facts, but also on interpretation stemming from individual experiences? The question is, are facts alone enough to constitute knowledge or do those facts need to be interpreted under guidance of personal experiences in order to gain knowledge. In two areas of knowledge that have a large role in my life, natural science and religion, I can see both sides to the argument. There are many times that I agree with the statement that knowledge is nothing more than the systematic organization of facts. Facts are, as Eugenie Carol Scott states in her book Evolution vs. Creationism, confirmed observations that can be disproven upon further study (Scott 12). When facts are systematically organized, meaning they are put in a certain order for a specific reason, in a way that allows each piece of information to support the previous information, a coherent synthesis of knowledge is able to be gained. In the natural sciences, this organization of facts is almost entirely logic based. Scientists have to examine what they know and draw conclusions by piecing together facts that make sense. Scientists cannot change the knowledge they have due ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Family Capitalism And The 19th Century Family capitalism is regarded to firms that are operated by family and its family member, although it is also known as perpetuation of family capitalism, which means long live and long lasting, they usually could not be passed on by more than one generation (Jones and Rose, 1993). Since the early 20th Century, among the world, Europe had a concentration of the largest ten and twenty companies in countries that are under family control. For instance in France at the beginning of the 21st Century, only 15 families had controlled 33.8% of the total market value of listed corporate assets; and in Germany, family firms hold 17 of the largest hundred companies. However on the other hand, there was only 6.6% of market value that were hold by family firms in the United Kingdom (James, 2008). The aim of this essay is to explain whether Cadbury was a typical family capitalism in the 19th Century. I will argue that Cadbury was not a typical family capitalism as they held the Quaker beliefs that made them different from other family firms; they also had a different organisation structure and management style; and they lasted longer than the other family firms at that time. This essay is structure as follows; first, I will explain the Quaker belief and how it made Cadbury different from other family firms; then I will examine Cadbury s organisation structure and management style; and finally, I will look at the durability of Cadbury and compare it with another family firm. • 43. Comparing Pisan s and Plato s Views on the Roles of Women... Comparing Pisan s and Plato s Views on the Roles of Women It is hardly fair to make a true judgement on whose view of women was more sensible. For one reason Pisan was a women and Plato was a man. It has taken thousand of years for women to accomplish equality towards men now so Pisan s view could be seen as before her time. Although, Pisan s view seems more sensible I can see how Plato s view could also be sensible for his time and place. In Christine De Pisan s The book of the city of ladies, in the beginning she began to examine her own character as a natural women. She looked at women who surround her form the highest a princess to the lowest a lower class woman. She tried to examine the ideas this philosopher had said to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After this was told to her she realized that those feeling that she felt in the beginning about how they talked about women so badly. At the end her view was that women are capable of being educated. Her idea is based upon smarts alone and not on physical nature. Her view of women seems to be more sensible to me growing in the 20th century. We have learned over the years that because you are a women does not mean that you are incapable of being equal to a man. Although in physical strength men have gotten us by far mentally women are able to compete with men. As for Plato s believes that men and women are not equal. He believes that men were born and educated like citizens. He also believes that the only way of arriving at a right conclusion about the possession and use of women and children is to follow the path on which we originally started, when we said that the men were to be the guardians and watchdogs of the herd. Plato also stated that the birth and education of women to be subject to similar or nearly similar regulations. Then you shall see whether the result is in accordance with the male design. Plato then states the question are dogs divided into hes and shes, or do they both share equally in hunting and in keeping watch and in the other duties of dogs? Or do we entrust to the males the entire and exclusive care of the flocks, while we leave the females at home, under the idea that the bearing and suckling their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
