Analysis Of Judith Wright s Asiatic Drinker ,...
Australian Poet Judith Wright exploits her concerns for the environment and human rights within
society; these themes are present in Metho Drinker , Remittance Man and Sanctuary . The idea of
human nature is exposed through an archetype of addiction, where lack of empathy and
compassion is expressed through the microcosm of society. Metho Drinker , being an existential
work, depicts Wrights concerns of modern progress and exclusion. Wright exposes the entrapment
of both figures with themes of conformity verses individualism, the inevitability of death and man s
relationship with nature. Poetic techniques such as omniscient narrative and third person are used
to heighten tension between reality and us as the responder. As an audience Remittance Man
compels us to reflect upon the English class system of the 1900 s and the lack of human
compassion towards migrants and lower classes. This contradicts Sanctuary , which foreshadows
the eventual destruction of nature through the progression of society s modern world. Personally I
was impressed by Wright s position as an advocate for those without a voice, be it individuals or
those of the natural world.
Wright as a social activist, reveals society s denial of individuals who do not conform, casting them
into a state of oblivion:
... nowhere, suited his book, the freak who could never settle .
This metaphor in Remittance Man depicts his exclusion from society, due to his inability to
conform to the moral code of the

Experiment #1: Determination of the Solid Liquid Phase Diagram for Napthalene Biphenyl Using
Thermal Analysis
Objective
To apply thermal analysis to the two component system, naphthalene biphenyl at atmospheric
temperature. The analysis will be represented by a solid liquid phase diagram (freezing point
diagram).
Theoretical Principles
Phase Equilibria and the Gibbs Phase Rule
This experiment is conducted in order to study a condensed system (solid liquid) at constant
temperature (atmospheric temperature). It should be noted that the atmospheric pressure is
unlikely to be the equilibrium pressure for the system. However, equilibria in condensed systems
are not very sensitive to pressure.
The freezing point is determined at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The temperature of the cooling bath must be adjust so that it is always about 3oC below the

4. Remelt the contents of the tube and add the counterpart component based on the given schedule.
Ask the demonstrator to adjust the cooling water between mixtures. During the experiment, record
and plot the data obtained for all mixtures listed. The experiments are stopped as follows:
i. Mixtures 1, 5, 8 when plateau is reached ii. All others when the initial change in slope can clearly

The Analysis On Ephesians Prefacing The Book The Bible ...
In the ESV study bible, the authors wrote an excerpt on Ephesians prefacing the author, title, date,
background information, and a description of the ancient city of Ephesus. Relating to the author of
Ephesians all scholars believed that Paul wrote the letter, until recent times where many scholars
propose that an imitator or a follower of Paul wrote the letter. The scholars give two reasons for this
theory, the first is the letter s style does not represent Pauline thought, and the second being the
authors unfamiliarity with the recipients. In contrast, some scholars say there is ample proof of
Pauline authorship; the first reason is the letter explicitly claims to be Paul s in Ephesians 1:1 and
3:1, and the second reason subsists in more analysis of the text and that it is similar to other Pauline
texts. The final argument for Pauline authorship is the forcefulness of the author s speech
mentioned in Ephesians 4:15, and verse 25. In these two verses, the argument that the author is
unfamiliar with the audience stands debunked because the author commands of them and the
author addresses the unity they all possess. Secondly, an important historical component for
understanding the context of Ephesians is to know the date it is written and background
information of why Paul wrote the letter. Scholars suggest that Paul wrote Ephesians in 62 AD
when he was under house arrest in Rome, this conclusion comes from Paul mentioning his
imprisonment in Ephesians 3:1, 4:1, and 6:20.

Inventory Management Model In Mobile Commerce
An Inventory Management Model in Mobile Commerce
Introduction
An inventory management system is the management of goods in the industry. The goods consist
of raw material to finished products. Thus an inventory management system controls the entire
storage of material flow in the industry. In this journal, the author focuses on the Inventory
management model in mobile commerce. In earlier days ledger books were used to maintain the
inventory control. Later computers were deployed in this work, which made inventory management
much easier. In this journal, the author uses mobile commerce to manage and check inventory. This
journal is hypothesis driven and does not consider any case study.
Method:
As mobile commerce is one of the technology which is most rapidly developing and boosting the
world economy, this mobile commerce would be a gained advantage for corporations which
implement mobile inventory. In the current scenario, web applications are used to manage
inventory. In this journal the author proposes use mobile device in place of computer system. Both
the models use web data to receive and manipulate information s. The mobile devices are termed as
personalized trusted devices. Primarily there are 3 main problems in inventory management. They
are
When to replenish Stock
How to replenish
Safety stock.
In this inventory management model in mobile commerce, the client uses his personal trusted
device to check for inventory level. If he finds the inventory level

Was King Arthur Responsible For The Downfall Of Guinevere
In the King Arthur legends, Guinevere was so much more than King Arthur s wife. She taught
readers lessons how to be a great wife but also how to be a unfaithful one. From the moment she
met King Arthur, she forever changed his kingdom and both of their lives for the good and the bad.
Throughout Guinevere and Lancelot s affair, Guinevere was blamed for everything. King Arthur
called her unfaithful, an adulterer, and blamed her for the fall of the Round Table. Although he
was not wrong to say these things about Guinevere, he never blamed Lancelot for the way he
treated King Arthur, his so called friend. All he ever did was fight him in order to win over
Guinevere, but in the end it was still Guinevere s fault that the whole affair had happened.

Two Basketball Players; Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade
There are many basketball players in the world. Throughout the history, some players became
more known than other players. Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade are very well known in this
world. Although their awards are similar, Kobe Bryant is a better basketball player than Dwyane
Wade because of his statistics and records. To begin with, Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade have
some awards in common. Both of them have been in the NBA All Defensive First Team. Kobe
and Dwyane have met five times in the NBA All Star Game. They both have been to the NBA All
Second Team twice. Also, Kobe and Dwyane have been named the NBA Finals MVP, too. They

Characters And Nihilism In The Novel s Fathers And Sons
In the novel, Fathers and Sons , the character Bazarov is known to be a self confident, and
intelligent doctor who s known to leave a few great impressions behind when interacting with his
fellow characters large and small, like Fenichka and the lower classman people. However, as nice
as he may seem, I do not believe that the story intends Bazarov to be the protagonist, but rather the
antagonist. His beliefof nihilism, the rejection of all religious and moral principles, is one of the
reasons why he is shown as an antagonist. Following that, is how he rudely carries out his own
opinions to others, but then later on, turns out to be a hypocritic of his own teachings ; making
him very displeasing to the audience to read. So although some may argue that Bazarov is a hero,
because of lighter traits, I would have to disagree because of his belief of nihilism, how he carries
it out to people and later turning himself into a hypocritic, making the novel play against Bazarov
rather than for him.
In the beginning of the story, Bazarov was known as a great friend to Arkady, and for a short
lived time, he was not wrong. Bazarov was written with attractive figures for an antagonist,
physically and non physical. Typically, an antagonist is seen as evil and ugly from the inside to
out, but Bazarov was the exact opposite. A calm smile,(looks of ) self confident and intelligent (3)

Doppler Effect
Doppler effect
The Doppler effect, named after Christian Doppler, is the change in frequency and wavelength of
a wave as perceived by an observer moving relative to the source of the waves. For waves that
propagate in a wave medium, such as sound waves, the velocity of the observer and of the source
are relative to the medium in which the waves are transmitted. The total Doppler effect may
therefore result from motion of the source, motion of the observer, or motion of the medium. Each
of these effects is analysed separately. For waves which do not require a medium, such as light or
gravity in special relativity, only the relative difference in velocity between the observer and the
source needs to be considered.

As mentioned previously, these two equations are only accurate to a first order approximation.
However, they work reasonably well in the case considered by Doppler, i.e. when the speed
between the source and receiver is slow relative to the speed of the waves involved and the
distance between the source and receiver is large relative to the wavelength of the waves. If either
of these two approximations are violated, the formulae are no longer accurate.
Analysis
It is important to realize that the frequency of the sounds that the source emits does not actually
change. To understand what happens, consider the following analogy. Someone throws one ball
every second in a man s direction. Assume that balls travel with constant velocity. If the thrower
is stationary, the man will receive one ball every second. However, if the thrower is moving
towards the man, he will receive balls more frequently because the balls will be less spaced out.
The converse is true if the thrower is moving away from the man. So it is actually the wavelength
which is affected; as a consequence, the perceived frequency is also affected. It may also be said
that the velocity of the wave remains constant whereas wavelength changes; hence frequency also
changes.
If the moving source is emitting waves through a medium with an actual frequency f0, then an
observer stationary relative to the medium detects waves with a frequency f given by [pic]which

Hormones And Levels Of These Hormones
hormones and levels of these hormones. The amount and type of hormones we experience while in
the womb are responsible for differentiating female brains from male brains and vice versa.
These two instances, the guinea pig and sex reassignment studies, lend credence to the idea that
biology influences our sexual orientation. To bolster these findings Bailey et al. (2000) cite
researchers who have explored regions of the brain that are sexually dimorphic (areas that are
notably different in men and women). Bailey et al. (2000) cites that in 1976 Dorner identified two
brain regions in rats that he implicated in sexual behavior for rats. In males he credited the medial
pre optic anterior hypothalamus (mPOA) and in female rats the area he believed to be responsible
for normal sexual behavior was the ventromedial nucleus (Bailey et al., 2000). This led to others
exploring the areas of the hypothalamus thought to contribute to sexual functioning. Ultimately it
was found that several areas in and around the mPOA appear to be sexually dimorphic. Bailey et
al. (2000) mention that upon comparisons of what is expected when looking at these areas in gay
men there is a difference in size. An area near/in the mPOA called INAH 3 is found to be smaller
and contain fewer cells in women compared to men. Gay men showed size and levels higher than
women but less than men. Also findings have shown that the anterior commissure (AC) that
connects the right and left hemispheres is significantly

The Issue Of Safety And Gun Control
Have you ever thought about the fact that in America, an 18 year old is old enough to buy a gun,
but not a beer? The concern of a gun crime being committed by a young man/woman is high, but
what if they want to go hunting with their father? It doesn t seem so bad now. Some people may
think that our President isn t effective enough, but there are too many people supporting each
side for the President to make a large, yet fair decision. There may be two sides to the story, but
what is the right option? This question of safety and gun control has become part of an on going
controversy due to views on The Constitution, the national gun control laws, as well as the fact that
most Americans would like an updated background checking system. The discussions about
citizens rights to bear arms go back to ancient times. Political theorists from ancient Rome, John
Locke of England, and Jean Jacques Rousseau of France viewed the possession of arms as a sign
of personal freedom and a crucial element of government. The precise meaning and purpose of the
Second Amendment has been an issue of major controversy. Gun control supporters argue that
when the Second Amendment was adopted in 1791, each state enabled a militia, composed of
ordinary citizens who served as part time soldiers. Fearing that the federal government would use its
army to force its will on the states, the authors of the Second Amendment intended to protect the
state militias right to bear arms. As stated in modern times

Short Stories Of Harrison Bergeron
Flying cars, personal robots, and driverless cars are all technologies people have thought of our
future holding. But what if our future really looks more like our past. What if our new
advancements in technology blew up our cities and we were left with nothing and had to start all
over. What if our future was not all compelling and technological but somber and gloomy. A future
of only things equal and no originality, a future full of secrets where knowledge is the price. In the
short stories Harrison Bergeronby Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. and By the waters of Babylon by Stephen
Vincent Benet, the authors portrayed that the future will be dull, dreary, and depressing, The two
stories also teach you about the future and the equality, knowledge, and technologies it contains it

Bland, boring, and bland is not how most of us would have imagined our future looking like, but
in these stories the author s must have had a premonition to know what to write about. In the
short stories Harrison Bergeron everyone is equal. The year is 2081 and we had more than just
equal rights, we had equal skills, equal smarts, equal beauty, but really that was more equal than
one society could handle.* The suspense builds in the story when a 14 year old boy, Harrison,
escaped from jail after being put in jail earlier that year for being sublime at everything he did:

U.s. Government s Department Of Defense
Organizational Management Approach
Introduction
The U.S. Government s Department of Defense (DoD) is a very large organization with many
leaders at various levels. From a macro level or overarching perspective the DoD is very
hierarchal and bureaucratic. Then, from a micro level perspective, there are leaders within the
DoD who practice more lateral or flat approaches to leadership. Furthermore, the DoD has both a
military side where leadership is hierarchal as well as transactional, as well as a civilian side
which is much more transformational. These varying leadership approaches within the DoD s
macro level, micro level, military, and civilian structure are all very appropriate and effective
leadership approaches for this large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These missions and goals rarely change. However, these higher level leaders, consisting of
military general officers, each have their own methods and styles of leading in terms of how they
will accomplish their defined mission and goals. These general officers direct both high ranking
military officers and civilian directorates who carry out the missions and goals set forth by their
high authorities. The macro level structure more authoritative, where direction is provided without
consulting lower levels input. Furthermore, there are specific rules and regulations and a clear
division of labor within the Government bureaucracy (Schoology, 2017). The Government s
bureaucratic, hierarchal, and authoritarian approach is very similar to Max Weber s classical
organization theory as he viewed it from a macro perspective (Onday, 2016). Conversely, the
Government is very different from a micro level perspective.
Micro Level Contingency and Lateral Approaches The micro level, below the military and civilian
directorates, the leadership is less authoritative, this is particularly true on the civilian side. The
civilian side of Government follows more of neo classical management theory, focused more on
culture and performance (Schoology, 2017). However, the military side continues to maintain a
relatively strong authoritative leadership approach down to the lowest level, due to the nature of
how they carry out their defined mission and goals. For

sometimes so bad is because people have turned it into sports instead of a way of life. The thing

Marx Theory Of Reserve Army Of Labour
, rather than reducing migration, economic development increases migration. Marx theory of
reserve army of labour is central to what he has to say about capitalism and workers wages; the
proletariat. Most migrants in society today migrate to the US and end up working in factories
where they manage machinery. Marx theory illustrates how capitalist industries consists of two
parts the machinery and the workers. Capitalist industries expand by sukingin their workers to
operate the machinery, upping their wages and attracting more of them. By doing so the worker is
necessary to satisfy the needs of the machinery, rather than industry existing to satisfy the worker s
need. This process illustrates how capitalismexploits workers for their labour. Yet migration
provides the capitalist industry with a wide array of wage labour. Scholar Jeff Manza explains
how higher pay depends on whether or not the product is profitable for the capitalist who owns the
machinery to employ workers to operate. Marx draws the conclusion that capitalism is the first
economic system in which there can be too many workers, with a large sum coming from migration
as migrants are in search of economic development.
The influx of migrants to the US continues to create a class of uneducated proletarians who remain
unconscious of their role in unpaid labour. Immigrants become the primary source of cheap labour.
migrant labour has become manipulated in the world markets by successful capitalist countries,

Hiroshima Death Match Themes
Hiroshima Death Match (Kinji Fukasaku, 1973)
The five films in the Battles without Honor and Humanity series are Kenji Fuakasaku s magnum
opus, of which Hiroshima Death Match is the most cult, particularly due to the participation of
Sonny Chiba and Meiko Kaji.
The film takes place both during the first film s story and shortly after it, and it focuses, apart from
Hirono s story, on two new characters that eventually become adversaries. The first one is
Yamanaka, a failed individual with a constant death wish and the other a local thug named
Katsutoshi, a character that borders on insanity. Meiko Kaji plays Yasuko, who becomes the love
interest of Yamanaka.
The film is the most bloody and violent of the series, a fact that is largely due to Sonny Chiba s
performance as Katsutoshi, who portrays a dangerous clown who uses his gun as if it was a fist,

The 1900 Hurricane Book Review
It is difficult to even imaging how serious hurricanes can be. Category 5 hurricanes are the
strongest storms. Winds howl at more than 155mph. (33) They can be more than 300 miles from
one side to another. (6) In this nonfiction book, Wood begins with a description of Hurricane
Katrina. He describes how it was one the worst storms in U.S. history. It devastated the Gulf
coast with 140 mph winds ripping apart buildings and tearing down power lines. The main
damage to New Orleans was due to big holes breaking through the levee and Lake Pontchartrain s
water flooding the city. Some areas were 20 feet deep, which left people stranded on their roofs
for days before help arrived. The book continues by describing hurricanes and what causes them.
Hurricanes are storms with strong, swirling winds up to 200 mph and can be more than 300
miles wide. These high winds are often destructive to cars, trucks, power lines, buildings and even
roads. Hurricanes need heat and moisture to form. Then, the Earth s rotation gives the winds a
twist. (14) If the hurricanes stay near warm water, it has plenty of energy to stay strong. However,
many hurricanes weaken as they reach land, since there is no warm water on land. The authors
explained that there are four stages of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

DNA tells us who you are. And it is the particle that stores genetic information s. it also, tell the
cell how to build the proteins in you. The DNA has to carry information from one generation of
organism to the next. DNA has to put that in formation to work by determining the heritable
characteristics of organism. Next DNA has to be easily copied because all of a cells genetic
information has to be replicated every time a cell divides. The DNA is like a latter, the shape is
called a double helix the step of the letter is made up of four bases, Adenine which is the letter A
the next one is Thymine which is T, Guanine is G and Cytosine is C. so, Adenine will always
bond with Thymine A=T and Guanine will always bone with Cytosine G=C. These are called
nitrogenous base. So, these genetic codes will tell the cells how exactly to build a protein the
structure of the DNA is called a gene. Your body read the letter C,G,T,A like a recipe. From their it
builds proteins. Proteins are made up of ells, cells are made up of tissue, and tissue are made of
organism like your eye and skin. So, the gene determined what you are and what you will look like.

Chronic Wasting Disease Analysis
Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a fatal neurodegenerative transmissible spongiform
encephalopathy (TSE ) found in some white tailed deer. CWD is associated with diseases such as
Mad Cow disease, Scrapie, and Creutzfeldt Jakob disease. With well supported evidence it is
hypothesized that CWD originated from Scrapie. The causation of CWD is an abnormal form of
PrPcwd prion. This prion is a naturally occurring protein found in mammals. Prions lack genome
and are highly resistant to degradation. Chronic Wasting Diseasecan be transmitted by direct contact
between the animals and/or on resources such as salt licks. With a team, Chris Janelle, studied
white tail deer in Wisconsin. Over a 9,000 square mile sample area, more than 185,000 deer were
sampled by the Wisconsin DNR and more than 2,500 of those deer were CWD positive. The team
collected data from 16,773 tested deer and of those 958 were affected with the disease. They were

Another interesting finding was that CWD affects the lymph nodes first, the brain second, and

to death. Based on their study there were four assumptions: deterministic transitions (between
states), spatial homogeneity (210 sq. miles), homogenous transmission and mixing (age, sex,
infection), and no migration. It is believed that CWD has been around since the late 60s early 70s,
and derived from scrapie or may be human induced. Janelle stated, Given estimated parameters from
data model is sensitive to adult survival influenced by magnitude of transmission coefficients and
harvest levels. It was noted that in Wisconsin the DNR aren t finding ways to manage CWD, they

Ocean Pressure Lab Report
Sharks aren t the scariest things in the ocean for scientists who dive to work. Powerful currents,
created where the ocean floor drops away, can be just as deadly. You can get sucked down and

For example, some sea sponge chemicals poison an invading sponge by stopping its cells from

basically cells that invade healthy tissue, where they endlessly divide, or grow. Shirley Pomponi,

Satire In The Simpsons
When reading jokes, almost everyone wants a quick laughter without much cogitating, however
some types of humor such as satire requires the exact opposite from the reader. Satire exposes the
foolishness and corruption of individuals and society by mocking them and possibly tries to
improve humanity through its criticism. In order to truly understand the comedy in satire, the reader
needs to have some basic knowledge about the topic. Satire is present in all types of literature and
even in movies or cartoons. The Simpsons, by Matt Groening is a long running satirical cartoon
about the adventures of a middle class family living in America. One reason for the show s popular
success is that it mocks famous figures, institutions of power, or human... Show more content on

When Bart and Lisa go fishing, they catch a fish that has three eyes and a newspaper reporter
reports it. The fish mocks how humans pollute the environment, which can have damaging effects
including genetic mutation in animals. Furthermore, Groening continues to criticize the human
destruction of the environment when he points out all the possible dangers in Mr. Burn s nuclear
power plant such as chemical leaks and cracks that the workers cover up with gum. He ridicules
the carelessness of powerful companies towards hazardous conditions for nature and workers. Mr.
Burn comments, They re trying to shut us down. They say we re contaminating the planet.
However, Groening s incongruity suggests that Mr. Burns does not want to his power plant to
close. It is his greed that stops him from realizing that he is hurting the environment and pushes him
to save his power plant. In fact, James M. Wallace in his article A (Karl, not Groucho) Marxist in
Springfield about satire in The Simpsons mentions that a part of what makes the show funny is that
suffering is not taken seriously and the existing conditions are simply to be endured, not changed
(Wallace 250). Mr. Burns ignores the potential ecological suffering and focuses on what benefits
him the most, which is to keep his nuclear power plant running. Ultimately, Groening illustrates

Essay on Collusion Between British Airways and Virgin
The tacit collusion case to be discussed involves the illegal collusion and setting of fuel surcharges
to commercial and cargo transatlantic fares between British Airways (BA) and Virgin Atlantic
Airways (Virgin). The factors which contributed to its success will be discussed, as well as why,
and its implications, of becoming public. To begin with, it would be beneficial to define both
collusive behaviour and the nature of the competition involved in the aviation industry.
Collusion is the act of a number of firms within an industry agreeing to set a certain price, output
or another parameter and is almost always against the law. This is as they all compete in the given
industry, with the setting of prices or outputs done in favour of the ... Show more content on

As the nature of the good is a seat on a plane, clearly capacity constraints are present in the form of
the limited seating on aircraft, as well as the inability to in the short run increase output beyond full
capacity. During the setting of price, clear communication will most likely result in a non static
equilibrium. As well as this, the symmetry in terms of the market and cost structures has played a
part in creating a successful cartel. Each firm produces a relatively homogenous good in terms of
economy, business or first class, with a limited amount of features it can differentiate itself from its
competitors. As well as this, using Figure 1, which will be discussed later on, demonstrates that the
main costs to an airline are those which cannot be easily reduced or offset, most notably the cost of
fuel and aircraft maintenance. Therefore both firms have near perfect knowledge of the cost
structure and revenue through observing prices, and will aid in choosing a certain pricing strategy.
What follows will be a detailed discussion of the specific market conditions which lead to the
successful collusion between BA and Virgin.
The UK Transatlantic Flight market as a whole can be said to hold many key factors which have
led to successful collusion. The first is due to the high levels of

Analysis Of The Story Barn Burning By William Faulkner
Freedom In the story Barn Burning, William Faulkner writes about a boy whose father is a
crook and the boy s journey leaving his family. There are two main characters, Colonel Sartoris
Snopes (Sarty) and Abner Snopes. The boy s name in this is Colonel Sartoris Snopes and Abner
Snopes is the father. Abner Snopes feels that the law is always out to get him. So, he believes
that his family should stick r=together no matter what happens. The story is set in the late
eighteen hundreds after the civil war. The first scene of the story takes place in an old grocery
store, in which they are holding a hearing for Abner Snopes. A man named Mr. Harris accuses
Abner for burning down his barn, but he has no proof. The Justice calls Sarty to testify, but he
does not speak. With Mr. Harris having no proof and Sarty not testifying against his father the
Justice tells Abner that he should leave the country and not come back. Abner takes his family
and leaves the country where he is not welcomed. This opening scene sets the stage for the rest
of the story. This story shows that over time if we think that the world is out to get us we will
only push those who are close to us away. After leaving the town the family camped in a grove of
oaks. Before going to bed Abner called Sarty and accused him of not standing up for him. While
Abner was talking to Sarty he brought up the thought that the people in the store were only trying to
get at him. The next morning they got up and

Juxtaposition In Marigolds By Eugenia Collier
In the story Marigolds , a story by Eugenia Collier, the author uses the literary techniques of
juxtaposition and symbolism to show the overall message that during the coming of age and
maturity in a world full of poverty and darkness, people always look for a light of happiness. The
author uses juxtaposition of the conversation of the mother and father to show how the darkness,
which is represented by the father, is trying to destroy the lightness, which is represented by the
mother. In rage and pain of his poverty bent life, Lizabeth s father is clouded with darkness and
fear, but Lizabeth s mother a still hopeful and looking for something to bring joy to the family.

contrasts the differences between the parents personalities and displays, just like the differences

consequently led to her loss of innocence by destroying Miss Lottie s yard, but because of this

Le Mariage De Figaro Essay
Before the composing of Le Mariage de Figaro and Le Nozze di Figaro, the aristocratic society
was in full swing. In early eighteenth century France had a very defined political and social
order known as the ancien rГ©gime. This meant that France was an absolute monarchy which
was fostered by King Louis XIV by showing the divine right of Kings. This was accomplished by
building an extravagant palace where nobles would live with the royal family, and draw in people
that would have normally been adversaries to the throne, and then turned them into allies by the
draw for a luxurious life in court. As anyone can imagine, this made the division between upper and

But, through Figaro and Susanna s defiance of the Count s upper society, we see the power of the
monarchy falling. Just as society was beginning to see the nobility in a lesser light these societal
parallels extend to the Countess and Susanna s departure from the idea of their mere servitude. In
fact, their clever plot to trap the count in his own immoral act showed the independence that women
could and would eventually gain. Not only did their ingenuity display the power that women could
have in society, but through the Count s heart felt apology to his wife, they demonstrated the need
for women. As mentioned earlier these character s actions and personalities are representative of a
societal norm and change of the time period. The Count showed the changing power of the nobility.
The Countess displayed the increased authority of women not only in their homes but in the ruling
class. Susanna demonstrated the budding feminism that was overcoming the exploitation of the
feminine sex. Figaro s ability to eventually marry his bride of choice over nobilities desire was
indicative of societies movement from the superiority of nobility. Even Marcellina s desire to take
the young Figaro s hand in marriage displayed the attention that society was beginning to show the

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart s The Marriage Of Figaro
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart composed The Marriage of Figaro in 1786. For this assignment, the
focus was mainly on the first act of The Marriage of Figaro. The excerpt given was divided into
two main sections. First, I would like to expand on the opera as a whole. Next, I will discuss the
first section given. Then, I will discuss the second.
The entire opera is known as an opera buffa, which is a comedic opera. This was a very common
opera genre in the classical era. The Marriage of Figaro is a perfect example of an opera buffa in a
variety of ways. For instance, an opera buffa has believable characters as individuals. The
characters we see have titles such as a page boy, a music master, a count, and a fiancГ©e. These
are all very common jobs or titles. There is no mention of mythical creatures or other unheard of
species. This makes the opera very relatable to the audiences. The opera also deals with everyday

Instruments such as the violin, cello, and clarinet are being used. The accompaniment thickens
greatly as well. You can hear the drastic difference. The instruments have more lines of music, and
on top of that the instruments are listed in full detail, and each has their own line of music. In
addition to the change of accompaniment, Mozart did a fabulous job of representing the characters
through the music. When the count sings alone, the sound is very regal. This, of course, is due to
his position. When Susanna sings, the accompaniment is higher, and also more rushed. This would
be because of the stress this character is experiencing, and also her gender. In addition, when
Susanna, the count, and the music master sing together, you can hear multiple melodies being
played. The action on stage also stops. In the first section, Susanna was constantly moving. The
count and the page boy both hide and caused great movement on

Sheridan, Laura s mother, is repugnant against the idea of canceling the party. Jose also
displeased with Laura s suggestion and says, If you re going to stop a band playing every time
some one has an accident, you ll lead a very strenuous life... (Short Stories). After that, despite
Laura s exhortative remarks for them to cancel the party, the previous planes still uphold.
Towards the end of the party, Laura and her father converse about the deceased gentleman while
eating some sandwiches. Laura decides to bring the leftovers to the widow of the recently
departed man in a basket, and when she arrives she is invited in to the house. She does not want
to go in but the widow insists and Laura is given no choice. When she goes in, she is brought to
the body of the deceased and sees how carefree his face is. She contemplates the importance of
everything that she once thought had importance and realizes that no one material thing truly
mattered to him at this point. She begins to cry and runs out of the house, only after managing to
utter, Forgive my hat, (Short Stories). She then runs into Laurie who is outside, sent by their
mother. He notices that she is crying, and she says, Isn t life... isn t life (Short Stories). She did not
complete her sentence but he understood what she was trying to say, and replied Isn t it, darling?

Should Computers Be Allowed in the Classroom
Introduction
Today, professors at colleges all around the country are asking the same question. They are
wondering whether laptops in the college classroom actually facilitates a student s ability to learn
or rather it distracts them from the lesson being taught. Laptops were originally considered to be a
small niche market and were thought suitable mostly for specialized field applications such as the
military, the Internal Revenue Service, accountants and sales representatives. But today, there are
already more laptops than desktops in businesses, and laptops are becoming obligatory for student
use and more popular for general use.
The conflict lies in that a majority of college professors believe that allowing students to use laptop

* Ease of Access Most laptops have doors on the underside that allow the user to access the
memory, hard drive and other components, by simply flipping the laptop to access the doors.
This makes laptop repair and troubleshooting far easier, and less expensive than most would
think. * Low Power Consumption A typical laptop uses 20 90 W, compared to 100 800 W for
desktops. This could be particularly beneficial for colleges which run hundreds of personal
computers, multiplying the potential savings. * Quiet Laptops are often very quiet because they
produce less heat and therefore require fewer and slower cooling fans making them less of a
distraction in the classroom environment. * Battery a charged laptop can run several hours in case
of a power outage and is not affected by short power interruptions and brownouts. * All in One
designed to be portable, laptops have everything integrated in to the chassis.
Disadvantages:
* Cost Even though laptops provide less performance than desktop computers, they tend to be far
more expensive due to its more compact and complex design. * Performance Laptops are not only
significantly more expensive than desktop computers, but they do so at a lower performance level.
Laptops as a result are disadvantaged when dealing with database, math, engineering, and financial
software. * Upgradeability Laptops have very few upgradeable components and are typically
limited to the

Inner City Youth
Helping America s Inner City Youth
Inner city youth are the children who live in the heart of America s largest, most poverty stricken
cities. In cities such as Detroit, the children are predominately African American, Caucasian, Asian,
and Latino ( Wayne County, 2012 ). Statistics show that fifteen and sixteen year old children are
the most likely age group to commit a crime in Detroit and the surrounding area ( Wayne County,
2012 ). These crimes range from stolen property, to the most heinous of crimes, murder and rape (
Wayne County, 2012 ). Povertyappears to play a direct role in the level of criminal activities within
inner cities.

Although there has been limited evaluation of positive youth development programs, the evidence
that is available suggests that the opportunities, skills, and atmosphere offered in a positive youth
development program can lead to better health, social, and educational outcomes (United States.
Dept. of Health and Human Services). Teachers, parents, local business owners, community
leaders, and local citizens will need to work together to achieve this goal of a crime and poverty
free city life. People cannot continue to sit back and ignore the issues of America s youth.
Ignorance is no longer an acceptable practice if America hopes to fix this situation. The children
will not break the cycle without guidance from those who are in the position to

Analysis Of Sex Pistols Anarchism, Freedom, And Power
During the 1970s, anarchy engulfed the minds of British youth because they felt that authority was
denying their freedom with excessive rules and regulations. William O. Reichert the author of
Anarchism, Freedom, and Power argues Anarchist insists that the idea of human liberty, while it
cannot be made an absolute, must be maintained as the highest of all human values. Freedom, that
is to say is the essential characteristic of a fully developed humanity...Nevertheless it must not be
lost sight of as the guiding star of all social science, for to be human is to be free. This quote
illustrates that experiencing life in total freedom is the philosophy that grounded anarchismand

Despite the basic choices in design, the magazines effectively were able to communicate the
message of anarchy to British youth. However, a year later, in 1977, punk bands started to
incorporate more successful design elements. For example, [fanzines] compiled photographs of
desolate and graffitied London landscapes that reflected punk s dystopian vision of No Future
...the graphic design of punk zines soon advanced to incorporate collage, montage, illustration
and a wider colour palette that contrasted with the simply typed or handwritten black and white
aesthetic of most earlier examples. This stark change in the punk aesthetic is seen London s
Outrage, no. 2, 1977, title page and p. 3 (See image 3) . On the right side of the magazine
spread, there is a black and white photo of an apartment building, a young teenager, and the
typeset headline that says London s Outrage. The typography of this layout is quite notable and
exudes chaos. For example, the L and the O are cut off by the edge of the paper. Additionally,
the word London is set on a diagonal path which is crooked that leads the viewers eye to a
building. The word Outrage is kinked too, but not nearly as pronounced as London. On the left
side of the magazine spread, there is a photo of a landscape that looks trashed and desolate.
However, on the bottom, hand written letters say Ay

Artificial Intelligence Or Ai Is A Science Of Machines
Artificial intelligence or AI is a science of machines. Machines are set up to perform functions
that would require brain power and decision making. These machines have been designed to
solve math problems, play games, assemble products and can be a form of communication. The
basis of the story is to understand whether robots can think or function like humans. Humans deal
with things on an everyday basis not knowing what the outcome will be. There are also
information sensitive creatures such as digital computers. A computer is given information, stores
what has been received and produces an outcome. In the end, a human is the one to program the
computer to provide the information. There has always been a comparison between human minds
and computers, but this has caused a great deal of debate. For instance a computer has to be fed
information in order to produce an outcome. The information has to be fed by a human, but the
effectiveness depends on what the programmer is trying to accomplish. The first article talks two
robots names Harry and Henrietta. Harry is a humanoid form that communicates just a human on
any subject. People may believe that he is really human. But one cannot really say whether he is
human or not based on the actions that is displayed just like a real live person. Harry does not
have organs like a human or produced as a human. Henrietta who is human has been set up with
synthetic materials. Everything else about Henrietta stays the same as if she was

  • 2. Analysis Of Judith Wright s Asiatic Drinker ,... Australian Poet Judith Wright exploits her concerns for the environment and human rights within society; these themes are present in Metho Drinker , Remittance Man and Sanctuary . The idea of human nature is exposed through an archetype of addiction, where lack of empathy and compassion is expressed through the microcosm of society. Metho Drinker , being an existential work, depicts Wrights concerns of modern progress and exclusion. Wright exposes the entrapment of both figures with themes of conformity verses individualism, the inevitability of death and man s relationship with nature. Poetic techniques such as omniscient narrative and third person are used to heighten tension between reality and us as the responder. As an audience Remittance Man compels us to reflect upon the English class system of the 1900 s and the lack of human compassion towards migrants and lower classes. This contradicts Sanctuary , which foreshadows the eventual destruction of nature through the progression of society s modern world. Personally I was impressed by Wright s position as an advocate for those without a voice, be it individuals or those of the natural world. Wright as a social activist, reveals society s denial of individuals who do not conform, casting them into a state of oblivion: ... nowhere, suited his book, the freak who could never settle . This metaphor in Remittance Man depicts his exclusion from society, due to his inability to conform to the moral code of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Experiment #1: Determination of the Solid Liquid Phase Diagram for Napthalene Biphenyl Using Thermal Analysis Objective To apply thermal analysis to the two component system, naphthalene biphenyl at atmospheric temperature. The analysis will be represented by a solid liquid phase diagram (freezing point diagram). Theoretical Principles Phase Equilibria and the Gibbs Phase Rule This experiment is conducted in order to study a condensed system (solid liquid) at constant temperature (atmospheric temperature). It should be noted that the atmospheric pressure is unlikely to be the equilibrium pressure for the system. However, equilibria in condensed systems are not very sensitive to pressure. • 5. The Analysis On Ephesians Prefacing The Book The Bible ... In the ESV study bible, the authors wrote an excerpt on Ephesians prefacing the author, title, date, background information, and a description of the ancient city of Ephesus. Relating to the author of Ephesians all scholars believed that Paul wrote the letter, until recent times where many scholars propose that an imitator or a follower of Paul wrote the letter. The scholars give two reasons for this theory, the first is the letter s style does not represent Pauline thought, and the second being the authors unfamiliarity with the recipients. In contrast, some scholars say there is ample proof of Pauline authorship; the first reason is the letter explicitly claims to be Paul s in Ephesians 1:1 and 3:1, and the second reason subsists in more analysis of the text and that it is similar to other Pauline texts. The final argument for Pauline authorship is the forcefulness of the author s speech mentioned in Ephesians 4:15, and verse 25. In these two verses, the argument that the author is unfamiliar with the audience stands debunked because the author commands of them and the author addresses the unity they all possess. Secondly, an important historical component for understanding the context of Ephesians is to know the date it is written and background information of why Paul wrote the letter. Scholars suggest that Paul wrote Ephesians in 62 AD when he was under house arrest in Rome, this conclusion comes from Paul mentioning his imprisonment in Ephesians 3:1, 4:1, and 6:20. ... Although he was not wrong to say these things about Guinevere, he never blamed Lancelot for the way he treated King Arthur, his so called friend. • 9. Characters And Nihilism In The Novel s Fathers And Sons In the novel, Fathers and Sons , the character Bazarov is known to be a self confident, and intelligent doctor who s known to leave a few great impressions behind when interacting with his fellow characters large and small, like Fenichka and the lower classman people. However, as nice as he may seem, I do not believe that the story intends Bazarov to be the protagonist, but rather the antagonist. His beliefof nihilism, the rejection of all religious and moral principles, is one of the reasons why he is shown as an antagonist. Following that, is how he rudely carries out his own opinions to others, but then later on, turns out to be a hypocritic of his own teachings ; making him very displeasing to the audience to read. So although some may argue that Bazarov is a hero, because of lighter traits, I would have to disagree because of his belief of nihilism, how he carries it out to people and later turning himself into a hypocritic, making the novel play against Bazarov rather than for him. In the beginning of the story, Bazarov was known as a great friend to Arkady, and for a short lived time, he was not wrong. Bazarov was written with attractive figures for an antagonist, physically and non physical. Typically, an antagonist is seen as evil and ugly from the inside to out, but Bazarov was the exact opposite. • 10. Doppler Effect Doppler effect The Doppler effect, named after Christian Doppler, is the change in frequency and wavelength of a wave as perceived by an observer moving relative to the source of the waves. For waves that propagate in a wave medium, such as sound waves, the velocity of the observer and of the source are relative to the medium in which the waves are transmitted. The total Doppler effect may therefore result from motion of the source, motion of the observer, or motion of the medium. Each of these effects is analysed separately. For waves which do not require a medium, such as light or gravity in special relativity, only the relative difference in velocity between the observer and the source needs to be considered. [pic] [pic] A source of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As mentioned previously, these two equations are only accurate to a first order approximation. However, they work reasonably well in the case considered by Doppler, i.e. when the speed between the source and receiver is slow relative to the speed of the waves involved and the distance between the source and receiver is large relative to the wavelength of the waves. If either of these two approximations are violated, the formulae are no longer accurate. Analysis It is important to realize that the frequency of the sounds that the source emits does not actually change. To understand what happens, consider the following analogy. Someone throws one ball every second in a man s direction. Assume that balls travel with constant velocity. If the thrower is stationary, the man will receive one ball every second. However, if the thrower is moving towards the man, he will receive balls more frequently because the balls will be less spaced out. The converse is true if the thrower is moving away from the man. So it is actually the wavelength which is affected; as a consequence, the perceived frequency is also affected. It may also be said that the velocity of the wave remains constant whereas wavelength changes; hence frequency also changes. If the moving source is emitting waves through a medium with an actual frequency f0, then an observer stationary relative to the medium detects waves with a frequency f given by [pic]which can be written ... The amount and type of hormones we experience while in the womb are responsible for differentiating female brains from male brains and vice versa. These two instances, the guinea pig and sex reassignment studies, lend credence to the idea that biology influences our sexual orientation. To bolster these findings Bailey et al. (2000) cite researchers who have explored regions of the brain that are sexually dimorphic (areas that are notably different in men and women). Bailey et al. (2000) cites that in 1976 Dorner identified two brain regions in rats that he implicated in sexual behavior for rats. In males he credited the medial pre optic anterior hypothalamus (mPOA) and in female rats the area he believed to be responsible for normal sexual behavior was the ventromedial nucleus (Bailey et al., 2000). This led to others exploring the areas of the hypothalamus thought to contribute to sexual functioning. Ultimately it was found that several areas in and around the mPOA appear to be sexually dimorphic. Bailey et al. (2000) mention that upon comparisons of what is expected when looking at these areas in gay men there is a difference in size. An area near/in the mPOA called INAH 3 is found to be smaller and contain fewer cells in women compared to men. Gay men showed size and levels higher than women but less than men. • 12. The Issue Of Safety And Gun Control Have you ever thought about the fact that in America, an 18 year old is old enough to buy a gun, but not a beer? The concern of a gun crime being committed by a young man/woman is high, but what if they want to go hunting with their father? It doesn t seem so bad now. Some people may think that our President isn t effective enough, but there are too many people supporting each side for the President to make a large, yet fair decision. There may be two sides to the story, but what is the right option? This question of safety and gun control has become part of an on going controversy due to views on The Constitution, the national gun control laws, as well as the fact that most Americans would like an updated background checking system. The discussions about citizens rights to bear arms go back to ancient times. Political theorists from ancient Rome, John Locke of England, and Jean Jacques Rousseau of France viewed the possession of arms as a sign of personal freedom and a crucial element of government. The precise meaning and purpose of the Second Amendment has been an issue of major controversy. Gun control supporters argue that when the Second Amendment was adopted in 1791, each state enabled a militia, composed of ordinary citizens who served as part time soldiers. Fearing that the federal government would use its army to force its will on the states, the authors of the Second Amendment intended to protect the state militias right to bear arms. Conversely, the Government is very different from a micro level perspective. Micro Level Contingency and Lateral Approaches The micro level, below the military and civilian directorates, the leadership is less authoritative, this is particularly true on the civilian side. The civilian side of Government follows more of neo classical management theory, focused more on culture and performance (Schoology, 2017). • 17. Marx Theory Of Reserve Army Of Labour , rather than reducing migration, economic development increases migration. Marx theory of reserve army of labour is central to what he has to say about capitalism and workers wages; the proletariat. Most migrants in society today migrate to the US and end up working in factories where they manage machinery. Marx theory illustrates how capitalist industries consists of two parts the machinery and the workers. Capitalist industries expand by sukingin their workers to operate the machinery, upping their wages and attracting more of them. By doing so the worker is necessary to satisfy the needs of the machinery, rather than industry existing to satisfy the worker s need. This process illustrates how capitalismexploits workers for their labour. Yet migration provides the capitalist industry with a wide array of wage labour. Scholar Jeff Manza explains how higher pay depends on whether or not the product is profitable for the capitalist who owns the machinery to employ workers to operate. Marx draws the conclusion that capitalism is the first economic system in which there can be too many workers, with a large sum coming from migration as migrants are in search of economic development. The influx of migrants to the US continues to create a class of uneducated proletarians who remain unconscious of their role in unpaid labour. (33) They can be more than 300 miles from one side to another. (6) In this nonfiction book, Wood begins with a description of Hurricane Katrina. He describes how it was one the worst storms in U.S. history. It devastated the Gulf coast with 140 mph winds ripping apart buildings and tearing down power lines. The main damage to New Orleans was due to big holes breaking through the levee and Lake Pontchartrain s water flooding the city. Some areas were 20 feet deep, which left people stranded on their roofs for days before help arrived. The book continues by describing hurricanes and what causes them. Hurricanes are storms with strong, swirling winds up to 200 mph and can be more than 300 miles wide. These high winds are often destructive to cars, trucks, power lines, buildings and even roads. Hurricanes need heat and moisture to form. Then, the Earth s rotation gives the winds a twist. (14) If the hurricanes stay near warm water, it has plenty of energy to stay strong. CWD is associated with diseases such as Mad Cow disease, Scrapie, and Creutzfeldt Jakob disease. With well supported evidence it is hypothesized that CWD originated from Scrapie. The causation of CWD is an abnormal form of PrPcwd prion. This prion is a naturally occurring protein found in mammals. Prions lack genome and are highly resistant to degradation. Chronic Wasting Diseasecan be transmitted by direct contact between the animals and/or on resources such as salt licks. With a team, Chris Janelle, studied white tail deer in Wisconsin. Over a 9,000 square mile sample area, more than 185,000 deer were sampled by the Wisconsin DNR and more than 2,500 of those deer were CWD positive. Because they re always anchored to the seafloor, they can t move if another sponge tries to overtake them. So sponges make chemicals to protect themselves against hostile invaders. Some of those defense chemicals might lead to new drugs. For example, some sea sponge chemicals poison an invading sponge by stopping its cells from dividing. The factors which contributed to its success will be discussed, as well as why, and its implications, of becoming public. To begin with, it would be beneficial to define both collusive behaviour and the nature of the competition involved in the aviation industry. During the setting of price, clear communication will most likely result in a non static equilibrium. As well as this, the symmetry in terms of the market and cost structures has played a part in creating a successful cartel. Each firm produces a relatively homogenous good in terms of economy, business or first class, with a limited amount of features it can differentiate itself from its competitors. As well as this, using Figure 1, which will be discussed later on, demonstrates that the main costs to an airline are those which cannot be easily reduced or offset, most notably the cost of fuel and aircraft maintenance. Therefore both firms have near perfect knowledge of the cost structure and revenue through observing prices, and will aid in choosing a certain pricing strategy. What follows will be a detailed discussion of the specific market conditions which lead to the successful collusion between BA and Virgin. The author uses juxtaposition of the conversation of the mother and father to show how the darkness, which is represented by the father, is trying to destroy the lightness, which is represented by the mother. In rage and pain of his poverty bent life, Lizabeth s father is clouded with darkness and fear, but Lizabeth s mother a still hopeful and looking for something to bring joy to the family. In early eighteenth century France had a very defined political and social order known as the ancien rГ©gime. This was accomplished by building an extravagant palace where nobles would live with the royal family, and draw in people that would have normally been adversaries to the throne, and then turned them into allies by the draw for a luxurious life in court. Next, I will discuss the first section given. Then, I will discuss the second. The entire opera is known as an opera buffa, which is a comedic opera. This was a very common opera genre in the classical era. The Marriage of Figaro is a perfect example of an opera buffa in a variety of ways. For instance, an opera buffa has believable characters as individuals. The characters we see have titles such as a page boy, a music master, a count, and a fiancГ©e. Machines are set up to perform functions that would require brain power and decision making. These machines have been designed to solve math problems, play games, assemble products and can be a form of communication.
