experiences, influences, and aspirations in the realm of art, making it a demanding endeavor.
The difficulty lies in the balance between presenting a unique perspective and adhering to the
conventions of a college essay. It's essential to communicate not only your technical skills and
artistic achievements but also to convey the profound impact art has had on your life. The
challenge is to articulate your journey, growth, and future aspirations in a way that captivates the
reader and distinguishes your application from others.
Navigating the fine line between self-promotion and genuine self-reflection is another obstacle.
It's crucial to showcase your passion without sounding overly boastful, maintaining a tone that is

2. Religious Beliefs And Its Effects On Children
It is a question that has become increasingly difficult for religious parents to
completely ignore: Are parents who raise their children to hold religious beliefs
instilling a form of permanent indoctrination? Many atheists argue this today, one of
the most famous being zoologist Richard Dawkins. In a detailed article about this
topic, he stated, There really is an important difference between including your
children in harmless traditions, and forcing on them un evidenced opinions about the
nature of life or the cosmos (Dawkins). In another interview he said, Children do
need to be protected so that they can have a proper education and not be indoctrinated
in whatever religiontheir parents happen to have been brought up in (Humphreys).
Atheists argue that brainwashing plays into account when raising a child with
religious beliefs, which leads to an influence on their future, and way of thinking.
These individuals propose that we should raise children without any religious beliefs
at all and allow them to reach a level of intellectual maturity so that they can choose
their own system of beliefs. Some might support this argument and find it reasonable.
However, due to the fact that parents raise their children according to their own
beliefs, having the best interest for their kids at heart and contradicting with the
concept of brainwashing by the number of atheists there are today, religious parents
have every right to raise their children according to their own
3. Stream of Consciousness Novel
The Development of the Stream of Consciousness Technique in Modernist English
Fiction (with Special Reference to the Contributions of James Joyce and Virginia
Woolf)
Arpan Adhikary
The term stream of consciousness as applied in literary criticism to designate a
particular mode of prose narrative was first coined by philosopher William James in
his book Principles of Psychology (1890) to describe the uninterrupted flow of
perceptions, memories and thoughts in active human psyche. As a literary term,
however, it denotes a certain narrative technique used in novels in which the narrator
records in minute but somewhat abstract way whatever passes through his or her
conscious mind. The socalled stream of consciousness in a work of ... Show more

The style is highly allusive and Joyce deliberately confuses the narrative by making
a pastiche of the styles of several genres together while presenting the flows of the
continuous thoughts of the principal characters. Here for the first time Joyce also
employed the interior monologue which is deemed to be the purest form of the
stream of consciousness mode. In Joyce s third and last novel Finnegans Wake (1939)
the complexity of the stream of consciousness technique reaches its heights
necessitating the text s being one of the least read ones in any language. In this novel
Joyce used around forty languages other than English and presented an awkwardly
extensive range of literary, mythical, political and historical allusions while narrating
the one night dream sequence of the protagonist, a Dublin tavern keeper named
Humphrey Chimpden Earwicker. Apart from Joyce, Virginia Woolf also made
remarkable contribution to the development of the stream of consciousness mode in
the modernist English fiction. In Mrs. Dalloway (1925) Woolf presents the diverse
mental recourses of Clarissa Dalloway within the span of one single day, and in the
interior monologue of Mrs. Dalloway the narrative breaks with the realistic mode in
order to suit the inner reality of the narrator s psyche which is different from the
external reality by which she is surrounded. Similar intellectual cogency and finer

4. Big Jfk Assassination Thesis
The big Kennedy assassination was the assassination of John F. Kennedy who was
the United States President from 1961 to 1963. He was a popular, good looking, and
young President which the people of the United States favored very much. Due to
that, America was very shocked as his assassination was a huge to blow the country.
America then quickly put their trust into his Vice President, Lyndon B. Johnson, and
he ended up winning the election of 1964, but he was unfortunately deemed with the
difficult task of solving the problems of the Vietnam War. The assassination of him
happened in Dallas, Texas while he was in an open limousine. Kennedy and his crew

Oswald is charged with Tippit s murder, as well as Kennedy s near 11:30pm that

to a more secure county jail, he was shot by Jack Ruby who owned several clubs

because, Oswald had killed Kennedy, but he was still charged with murder, even
though some called him a hero. A day before Oswald was killed (Nov.23, 1963),
Kennedy s casket was placed in the East Room of the White House, and it stayed
under guard for 24 hours. A few days later over 250,000 people, including leaders,
from over 90 countries attended his formal
5. Becoming A Dancer
The life of a dancer
In 1938 Jerome Robbins stated that the dance industry is plagued with difficulties
after his poor experiences with the Dance Centre, linking to this I will be
discussing whether these difficulties have been addressed or if they are still
prominent in the life of a dancer today. To do this I will be comparing the lifestyles
of performers from a range of different styles, to see what boundaries they face and
how they differentiate to one another.
To have the life of a dancer it is important to become established in the industry, after
looking at case studies from the Royal Ballet I have discovered a correlation,
displaying that a dancer is to start at the bottom and then needs to get noticed to
progress.

However if we go back to the statement above suggesting that jobs are based on a
person s reputation, my concern is would they risk speaking out if they are being
over worked or paid inadequately. I would not commit to a solely performance based
carrier in dance as it would give me little financial stability, the career project
supports this by stating only a small percentage of dancers can actually find steady
work in this area . This is dependent on the type of contract the dancer was given as a
long term contracts offers stability for a longer time period, however to achieve this
a dancer must secure a position in dance companies such as The Royal Ballet or
motion house and short term contracts are more a accessible.
I feel that to live the life of a dancer the vital thing to have determination to battle
many of the obstacles they will be facing, as it is clear that dance is in a low
ranked compared to other art forms as a professional dancer falls into the category
of a highly skilled, sought after employee in a high risk profession but yet is still not
paid as much as an actor who has a stunt double to perform any parts deemed
dangerous .Despite these setbacks a dancer should always remember why they got
into dance in the first place and let that be their momentum to push them further in

6. Reflection On Career Development
A.This lesson mainly addressed aspects related to career development. This lesson
encourages students to discover their academic and personal strengths, their skillsets,
and their interests. Students then take those concepts and apply them to career
exploration. They are able to link their strengths, preferences, and abilities to potential
future careerpaths. Some of the specific aspects of career development that I
addressed include applying planning and career exploration in setting and
obtaining lifelong career goals, applying necessary skills for career readiness and
success, and teaching students where and how to obtain information about post
secondary options. In this lesson students are encouraged to apply decision
making skills to place different careers into the appropriate career fields. In doing
so, they are also encouraged to begin thinking about careers that are of interest to
them and what career goals they have for themselves. They will be given resources
in order to continue career exploration outside of the classroom. While I do not
expect sixth graders to fully decide their career path, it is my firm belief that it is
never too early to get students thinking about careers and having them set goals in
order to obtain the career and future that they desire. I also believe that this unit
touches on social and emotional development as well as academic development. This
lesson allows the student to collaborate with one another and work in groups as well
as in pairs. This promotes relationship building and teamwork. It also allows students
to take an inventory of their personal strengths and skillsets. This could boost self
esteem and promotes a sense of self awareness. Lastly, this unit also encompasses
academic development. Students will understand that good grades and academic
success are key elements to obtaining the career that they wish to have. By being
academically successful, this will allow them greater options and opportunity post
high school graduation.
B.In today s world, I feel as though it is very important to incorporate technology
into lesson plans. Technology helps keep children engaged and we are now living in
a world where technology is all around us. I was able to
7. Biblical Allusions In The Film The Knowing
The director of The Knowing is trying to show/explain the cycle of the human
existence by demonstrating how one world ends and another is created in the
likeness of the old one. One obvious way he shows us is by natural disasters that
occur, as we can see in the film the ocean levels rises causing floods to form and
sweep across New York City. The second demonstration is how the TV starts to
become more static as signals start to fail as they are demolished by meteors. A
symbol that stands out as symbolic is anarchy as it shows society starts becoming
more corrupted for the struggle of survival by fighting against each other and turning
against the government. Two biblical allusions that are shown in The Knowing are
one the boy and girl
8. Case Study of Terrorism Essay
On September 11, 2001, the United States (U.S.) experienced an act of overt
terrorism unparalleled in its history. The extremist terrorist group, al Qaeda,
attacked the U.S and briefly paralyzed a nation. This was a physical attack on the
US, but in retrospect, a global attack on democracy. The U.S. and its coalition
partners came to the realization that this act of terrorism was potentially a precursor
to an asymmetric warfare campaign that had global impact. After carefully analyzing
the magnitude of this event, the U.S. realized this could not be a unilateral effort; it
had to seek support from its partners in countering terror campaigns worldwide. In
support of the U.S. efforts, the Air Force (AF) should build partnership... Show more

Therefore, this study will only focus on the use of ANG personnel. After completing
ACSC, U.S. military forces possess the skills and knowledge to fill squadron

to Brigadier General Jimmie Jackson, Jr., then ACSC Commandant, he testified to

nations graduated from the college and later became Chiefs of Staff, Heads of State,
Ministers, Ambassadors, or members of Parliament . Because many of these IO s
become prominent figures in their government, it s possible that information shared
and relationships cultivated while attending ACSC could help influence their views
about the U.S. In Phase I, as part of its initial indoctrination process, ACSC should
assign Guardsmen and IO s from partnering nations in the same classroom during the
9. The Christian Faith
One of the foundations of the Christian faith is the belief that God is actively
working in His creation. God did not create the world and leave it to its own fate.
Instead, God is still actively involved in every part of His creation today. This
belief is crucial for the Christian scientists in today s world. Ones who study cells
and molecules can discover how astounding and detailed God, the Creator, is with
this belief in mind. God is working through his seen and unseen creation. In the
tiniest cell, God s workmanship can be displayed. God made each cell to have a
specific purpose towards the human body or the plant. Cells and molecules are the
work of an intelligent designer and are not random chances. Without God, cells could
not accomplish their purpose. God places every geneon DNAand makes the cells
come together to form a human. For you created my inmost being; you knit me
together in my mother s womb (Psalm 139:13, NIV). Through cells and molecules,
God creates each unique person on His earth.
When a Christian scientist knows God is at work in His creation, they can have a
new perspective of cells. They will see cells as the design of God instead of results of
randomness. Once they observe and study cells, they can learn more about God.
They can learn how detail oriented and omniscient He is. God is in control not only
of the seen world, but also the world we can only see under the microscope! Each
cell and molecule are shaped a specific way to carry out a
10. The Death Of A Toad By Richard Wilbur
Death is final, sudden and yet eternal it yawns before and behind us all. In The
Death of a Toad by Richard Wilbur, he show s his response to death through the final
moments of a toad caught in a lawnmower. He uses imagery to bring attention to each
important detail in the last moments of life while purposefully ignoring others, and
diction, to choose certain words describing its journey after its demise.
Death both ends life and brings it into sharp clarity, for the unfortunate toad what is
brought into clarity is used to demonstrate what is important in death. The actual
cause of death is unimportant to the toad for example, the power mower caught
(Wilbur, line 1) the toad s leg and while it chewed and clipped (Wilbur, line 2) the
actual mower is not described further.
This is because the mechanism of death does not truly matter to the toad or the
author, death is inevitable and the mower is simply accepted as what happened to be
the deliverer to that end.
The next use of imagery is the final glade (Wilbur, line 6) where the toad will come
to rest for the last time. It hops to a place Under the cineraria leaves, in the shade of
the ashen heart shaped leaves (Wilbur, line 45) which is more detailed than anything
before it. More important than the injury or even the machine that eventually kills it
is the final resting place, meaning the location of death and what that location means
to the person dying is more important than the act itself. This is where the toad

Gender credo has signified political and cultural values in Greek and Roman era. In

The Ara Pacis Augustae, 13 9 B.C Rome, explains the role of the female conduct in
the revival of Augustus ideal Roman family. (Kampen 15) The revival of the
family, based in large part on the regulation of female sexuality, was to be
accomplished by religious revival and by laws that controlled marital conduct and
penalized the unmarried and the childless (16). The emperor of that era, Augustus,
implemented a new social program. The new program was in response to the chaos
of the rapidly changing upper class morality and condemned aristocratic women who
care more about staying young and entertaining lovers than for bearing and nursing
babies (16). The detail on the Ara Pacis, Imperial Family frieze, illustrates women
with their children beside them. Exemplify that the piece is a family monument in
consequence to Augustus s program that encompasses the fertility of the earth, the
Romans, and the Imperial family itself (16). The insinuation that the Imperial family
is present reveals dynastic desire, as well as reminding the populace of its duty of
responsible sexuality. Thus combines female fertility with female morality (16).
Moving ahead to the late eighteenth century, again, demonstrates the idealized
relationship between men and women in the interests of social ideology. Discussion
of women s roles and conduct was in part a reaction to the perceived license of upper
class women and the

The child sees the Cabuliwallah with the eyes of trust and affection, and so the

Having compared the differences, it is still worth noting that Markowitz did not rule
out fundamental analysis in portfolio selection process, as is said in his foregoing
paper,(Markowitz, 1952) the process of selecting a portfolio may be divided into two
stages.
The first stage starts with observation and experience and ends with beliefs about the
future performances of available securities. The second stage starts with relevant
beliefs about future performances and ends with the choice of portfolio. This paper is
concerned with the second stage .
Part 2 Efficient Market Hypothesis
The strong form of efficient market hypothesis states that all information, no matter
public or private, instantaneously affects current stock price. Semi strong form is
only concerned with public information, while the weak form suggests that current
stock price reflects information in the previous prices. In short, they simply imply
that in the long run, no one should be able to beat the market in terms of investment

As is said in Fama s paper in 1970, (Eugene F, 1970) the evidence in support of the
efficient markets model is extensive, and (somewhat uniquely in economics)
contradictory evidence is sparse . However, Warren Buffet has always criticised

retina forms the image. These receptors are of two types namely cones and rods.
Cones are less in number approximately 6 to 7 million and are concentrated in the
region called fovea. These cones gives the clear image with fine details because
these have their individual nerve connection where as, the rods give the general
pattern of the image because many rods are connected to one nerve. Rods are
numerous approximately 75 to 150 million which are spread over the wall of the
retina. The interesting phenomena here is that the objects appear as colorless in the
nighttime because only rods get stimulated as the cones are color
21. Willy Loman s Dysfunctional Family
The Loman s Dysfunctional Family The Loman s are quite the hectic family. The
house is constantly bickering and absolutely full of folk tales. Whether it is small
white lies or enormous secretes, the family does it all. The family tries to get along
and show their love for one another but a times it can be too hard to believe or trust in
another person. Throughout the book the familyshows numerous ways of being
dysfunctional.
To begin with, the entire Loman family has shown their part of being a dysfunctional
family. Both Happy and Biff are unemployed and live at home with their parents. The
two have it put in their minds that they have had many different wonderful jobs, but
in the end they discover that never actually happened. Willy is constantly yelling at
Linda when she shows him nothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, the biggest problem in this family would have to be Willy. His own insanity is
tearing the family apart. During the story, Death of a Salesman , Biff overhears Willy
Talking to himself which causes an enormous fight between his mother Linda,
himself, and eventually Willy. Biff is tired of how mad his father has become and
wants a way to get him treatment but Linda believes there is nothing that can be
done. Willy s insanity is the cause of most the uproars in this household.
In conclusion, every family has their own flaws. The Loman family has shown their
flaws on several different accounts throughout the story. Willy s mental illness has
not only affected him, but his two sons and wife as well. He basically is making
Biff and Happy believe things that never happened and causing them, mainly Biff to
fight with their parents. Linda is going crazy and is willing to give up her children
because of him. Throughout everything and even Willy s death, the family still loves
each other

The other section of the commentary report is the commentary of the scores which
are collected in this book. The commentary is arranged in a really standard form, and
the comments on performance are quite helpful to the performers. For instance, the
commentary of Sonanta in B flat Major for Flute and Basso Continu, Wq,125 is
located from the page one hundred and thirty six to page one hundred and thirty
seven. In the commentary, it mainly shows the measure numbers, part of the voice,
and remarks. For Measure number, it used the number to mark each specific
measure. In the part of the voice, fl means the voice of the flute, and b.c. means the
voice of the basso continuo. In the section of remarks, it contains very detailed
comments on the performance. Even it points out the version that it follows.
As I have tried out all the comments on this piece, I found that the changes make
music sound more interesting and artistic. For instance, the Sonata in B flat major for
flute and Basso continuous second movement Allegro. In the third measure, it
suggests the note 2 changed from F to A. After this changing, the melody of flute
sounds more interesting. In the measure six, it suggests moving the slur from notes 3
4 for notes 2 4. That lets the melody skip a minor third and sounds more stable in the
beginning section than the original one. In the measure twenty seven,
23. Comparing The Road Not Taken And The Roads Within
In the poem I crafted, The Roads Within , it extend the ideas of the original poem,
The Road Not Taken . One of the major ideas of the original poems is that we all
have a choice in the decisions and paths we take in life. In my poem I enforce that
idea in line 4, Long I waited, considering each choice . Before any one decides to live
a certain way they must consider if they would not have regrets on the life they chose
to live. The idea of not being able to go back to the point where the decision is made
is represented in both poems. In line 15, Robert Frost wrote, I doubted if I should
ever come back and in line 10 of my poem it states, I shall never go back to the
starting point . I wrote this line because people can never go back

This short paper will evaluate whether or not a priori knowledge is possible. The
questions regarding the objections to the possibility of a priori knowledge are
discussed, as are the possible resolutions to such objections with a focus on Hilary
Putnam s theory of contextual apriority. The nature of apriority in mathematics will
also be examined and its possible absolute a priori status. A short deliberation
regarding whether or not apriority obtains will conclude this paper, but before these
are discussed the meaning of a priori knowledge must be considered.
The Token Forms of Apriority A priori knowledge is generally understood as
knowledge that is independent of our experience with it. Unlike a posteriori
knowledge that requires experience to justify it, a priori knowledge can be referred
to as armchair knowledge, such that one need not remove himself from his seat to
attain said knowledge. All bachelors are unmarried men illustrates a token form of a

26. Organic Of Organic Food Industry
2.Introduction
Organic foods are foods that are processed without the use of synthetic materials such
as pesticides, antibiotics and chemical fertilizers. National Organic Standards Board
defined organic agriculture as;
An ecological production management system that promotes and enhances
biodiversity, biological cycles and soil biological activity. It is based on minimal use
of off farm inputs and on management practices that restore, maintain and enhance
ecological harmony (Organic Trade Association, 2014).
Organic food industry is a heavily regulated industry which complies with organic
standards set by governments and international organizations (Statista, 2014).
Inspections of farm fields, record keeping and periodic testing of soil and water are
required to ensure that growers of organic foods are meeting the standards which have
been set by these organizations.
Although organic production reflects similar cost structure with conventional
production in terms of growing, harvesting, transportation and storage; total costs
are higher in organic production due to more labour and management intensive
process in order to adapt these strict regulations. This causes organic foods become
more expensive than conventional foods. However, even more expensive, global
demand for organic foods has been growing substantially over the last decades.
There are several different reasons behind this rapid increase in consumer demand
for organic foods. Food safety concerns linked to

Comparing the 1929 Market Crash and the Current Position in the Stock Market
During the 1920 s, the North American economy was roaring, but this decade
would eventually be put to a stop. In October of 1929, the stock market began its
steepest decline to this date in history. Many stock market traders and economists
believe and pray that it was a one shot episode never to be repeated. On the other
hand, many financial analysts and other economists believe that the current stock
markets are in place to repeat the calamitous errors of the 1920 s. In this paper, I
will analyze the causes of the crash and discuss the possibilities of it re occurring.

The 1920 s saw a great technological advance. Mechanical power almost completely

Using the Dow Jones Industrial Average(DJIA) at the beginning of every year as a
measure, the economy has grown in a log linear fashion since 1897. There have been
two major oscillations in the DJIA.
The first major oscillation began in the early 1920s. In the period from 1924 to 1929
the DJIA rose from 100 to 300, just prior to the crash of October 1929. During the
1930 s and the Great Depression, the DJIA reached a low of 42.
The second major oscillation was less dramatic. There was an increase from the
expected baseline of growth that began in 1958, which lasted throughout the 1960 s
but was followed by a dip below the baseline during the 1970 s. Finally, in the
28. Rene Magritte And Salvador Dali
INTRODUCTION
The topic of the unconscious mind is one that is very relevant to the surrealist
movement. Arguably the most famous surrealist artist, Salvador Dali, was famous
for his depictions of dreams and freudian theories. Rene Magritte, also a very
famous surrealist artist, is also thought to be influenced by such theories, especially
when it comes to the repression of childhood memories. Because of this, these two
artists are perfect examples to question the extent of this psychological influence on
their work. Was psychoanalysis the primary goal for both artists? In this report I will
analyse three texts from reputable sources about both Dali and Magritte, and aim to
use evidence from these texts to come to a conclusion about my ... Show more content

To depict this psychological phenomena Dali creates his paintings with an incredibly
detailed and realistic style. Martin writes that Dali s realistic style serves as a sharp
contrast to the animalistic instincts and unusual concepts in his paintings.
Upon analysing the use of irrational imagery and depictions of dreams in Dali s
paintings, author Tim Martin shows the heavy interest in the ideas of the unconscious
mind. Through Martin s writing it is clear that the unconscious mind was the most
significant factor in Dali s artwork.
Text 2 Dali Museum Text on The Persistence of Memory
This text was written in 2009 for the Salvador Dali museum, aimed at high school
students studying art history. The information in the text is extensive, and it is a
reputable source of information, being written for the Dali museum itself.
The author s analysis of the famous painting the Persistence of Memory describes
the deformed clocks depicted in the painting. Dali painted a total of three of these
malleable clocks for this work, placed apart in different places in the painting. The
author of the text describes Dali s painting of different times on each clock face.
By painting a different time on each clock face, Dali gestures at the relativity of the
notion of time. Time s relativity in dreams was a core concept in Dali s work, and
was influenced by Freud s theories

The Ford Mustang is widely credited with launching the pony car segment,
appropriately named for this trend setting steed. But two weeks prior to its April 17,
1964, launch, the Chrysler Corporation introduced the Plymouth Barracuda, what
quickly became one of the Mustang s top competitors. While some insist the
Barracuda was America s first pony car, on closer inspection a compelling argument
can be made that it was not.
A New Segment for Young Drivers
Sport coupes weren t anything new when the Ford Mustang made an early debut for
the 1965 model year. What was different with the Mustang and similar models was
its relatively compact size, featuring a long hood, a short rear deck and available
small V8 engines.

But on closer inspection, the original Mustang shares much with another model,
notably the Ford Falcon.
Indeed, when the Mustang was designed, it was derived from the Falcon s platform,
although there are distinct differences in sheet metal, wheelbase size, width and
height, along with standard front bucket seats. Further, the Mustang offered a three
on the floor manual transmission to the Falcon s three speed automatic. Similarities
included the Mustang s standard 200 cubic foot inline six engine with a one barrel
carburetor (optional in the Falcon), steering, rear suspension, and differential.
The Mustang s options list was what set this model further apart from the Falcon (as
well as the Barracuda), including items which define the original steed best in most
people s eyes, namely a 271 horsepower V8, four speed manual transmission, special
handling package, limited slip differential, and front disc brakes. These features along
with unique exterior styling and interior layout differences underscore that Ford took
greater care to separate the Mustang from the Falcon than did Plymouth with the
Barracuda and Valiant.

30. Straw Man Fallacy Essay
Every day people want to convince others that their ideas are the right ones. People
will engage in arguments to try to prove their claims with reasoning. However,
many times, the individuals reasoning behind their claims are faulty and
erroneously tries to prove their claims. Such type of reasoning is called a fallacy.
One particular type of fallacy is called the Straw Man fallacy. In a Straw Man
fallacy, a proponent intentionally misrepresents the opponent s argument to facilitate
the process of discrediting it. Analogously, it is much easier to defeat an individual
made of straw than it is to defeat one made of flesh and blood (Copi, 113). In similar
fashion, in a Straw Man, the proponent will use morally questionable and unfair...

He distorted Clinton s stance on immigration to discredit her. Clinton later
confirmed that she was in fact referring to commerce of goods and energy, not to

issue of immigration from Trump, she has not claimed she favors the entrance
illegal immigrants into the country, instead, she favors an immigration reform for
those illegal immigrants already in the country, especially if they have been in the
country since they were a child (Immigration Reform). According to the detailed
immigration reform page on her website, Clinton is actually in favor of enforcing
immigration laws, as long as they reasonable and humane (Immigration Reform).
The use of the Straw Man fallacy may only do more harm to the proponent. In
Trump s case, there is a risk that his listeners will recognize the unfair distortion of
Clinton s claim (Copi, 113). They could also recognize his argument as fallacious.
And by recognizing the fallacy, people could question his fitness as a presidential

By committing the Straw Man fallacy, Trump is less likely to win an

31. Research Paper On Honey Bees
The bees that create honey were not natural inhabitants of North America.
Europeans brought honey bees because of their ability to produce honey. They re
actually the only insect that can produce food that humans can use for survival. It
contains vitamins, minerals and enzymes that we can use to survive without
needing any other foods. It even has water in it. The common colony of bees has
between twenty thousand and sixty thousand worker bees. In all of those bees,
there s only 1 queen. The colony s workers are all female too. They live about 6
weeks and perform all the work of the hive. While it seems like the females are all
the hive has, that s not true. There are male worker bees called drones. The drones
don t do any work at all though.
32. Analysis Of George Berkeley s Dialogues
Christopher Podlaski In George Berkeley s Dialogues, he presents and
subsequently dismantles several of his predecessors ideas through the use of two
characters, Hylas and Philonous. His main goal in this project is to refute the
flawed concept of reality that something unperceived and unperceiving could exist
(Atherton). However, in attempting to argue for this, particularly when arguing
against John Locke s distinction between primary and secondary qualities, he sets
his opposition up as a dummy argument and therefore commits a logical fallacy.
Berkeley does not understand Locke s view and therefore incorrectly bases it on
the ordinary experience of large objects that are perceivable to the naked eye. In
his attempt to show that the perception of primary qualities are also subject to
relativity like secondary qualities, Berkeley misinterprets Locke s arguments to
have a different foundation than they do. He is therefore inaccurate in his method
of refuting Locke s distinction (Atherton). One might claim that disproving Locke
s primary secondary quality distinction is not necessary to Berkeley s goal, which
is refuting previous philosophies of reality. However, he spends a considerable
amount of time on the concern that Locke s primary qualities are also subject to the
relativity of experience and the inconsistencies of perception, as secondary qualities
are. This, in its self, refutes such a claim. In Locke s work, he submits that the
physical world is made up of

Growing militarism in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century was the most
important reason for the outbreak of war in 1914 . To what extent do you agree with

Reason 1
For 20 years the nations of Europe had been engaged in an arms race, each country
wanting to be stronger than the enemy s army. The intense Arms race had encouraged
each nation to equate its preservation with its military strength, creating a mood in
which war seemed inevitable. Many countries at the time had some modern military
equipment that they could be use during a war. It was one of the biggest military

34. The House Of The Seven Gabless Analysis
Salem State University professor, Aviva Chomsky, spoke at the House of the
Seven Gables, on Thursday Sept. 14, about the 1933 Pequot Mills Strike, and its
connection to modern labor issues facing the U.S. today. The House of the Seven
Gables welcomed back Chomsky, as a guest speaker, for the final presentation of
their ongoing speaker series, Life and Labor over Four Centuries at the House of
the Seven Gables. Ana Nuncio, Settlement Programs Manager at the House of
Seven Gables said, The Gables is proud to include professor Avi Chomsky in its
roster of speakers this year, and that Chomsky is an engaging speaker with much to
say on topics that are relevant to our Salem community, such as labor issues and
immigrant rights.
Chomsky s talk on the 1933 Pequot mills strike, now the site of Shetland Park,
chronicled the issues faced by the mostly immigrant workers, of automation,
productivity, unemployment, and wage disparity that still face the workers of today.
The workers of the Pequot mills were Irish, French Canadian, and Polish immigrants
that resided mostly in the Point Neighborhood of Salem. These immigrant workers
were prompted to strike due to issues of unemployment and forced increased
productivity caused by new innovations in loom technology.
Chomsky described how, One mill worker could now run 1,000 looms instead of
just one, leaving 999 mill workers unemployed. With communist party influence,
and concern for the working class, the mill workers struck in 1933. This strike
influenced all of Salem as almost half of all residents were employed by the Pequot
mills. The mill workers met to discuss the strike at the Saltonstall school, and
marched down Lafayette Street in protest of the unfair labor conditions and wages.
Chomsky highlighted the solidary of the mill workers by showing a document
created by the strikers that said, If we lose this strike, all textile workers will be
effected. Chomsky pointed out that even then people were thinking about the global
influence of workers rights.
The Pequot mills strike, were finally resolved when President Roosevelt sent
mediators to reach a consensus between the striking workers, and the employers. The

that LGMD is a developing neuromuscular disorder (Montse,

going on in the play at that at times it was hard to follow. I felt that there was just a
lot going on and a lot of inferences that had to be made, which took away from the
actors. I also did not like how it seemed that the scenes with the couples were
supposed to be happening simultaneously and it seemed like the day was starting
over every time a new couple would take the stage. I wish there was a more fluid
way those scenes could have been run where you could see the Joneses dancing

at the end of the smith scene they were ordering dinner and the lights seemed dim.
It wasn t until Mr. Smith made the comment about making the salmon until I

(Cashman,223.) The exclusion of the unskilled worker and the lack of a true effort to
recruit women and blacks into the AFL as well as having a central body that was
powerless to settle disputes between unions along with the elitest and often racist
slant of some union policies were major flaws of the AFL . Samuel Gompers himself
was anti immigration. Though women and blacks were urged to join the union they
were met with harsh prejudices from the white members of the AFL. In 1902, blacks
constituted only three percent of total union membership and mostly segregated into
ineffectual locals. The AFL s record with women was almost as poor. High union
dues, apprenticeship requirements and the autonomous structures of individual
unions meant that few women entered craft unions. Indeed, the more women went to
work, the more they aroused the anxieties of workmen who considered it their
birthright to be the sole support of the household (Laurie,196.) This contributed to
more prejudices against women and keeping their numbers down in the AFL. The
unskilled and immigrant workers were the worst off in the AFL. Unskilled immigrant
labor was regarded by most union leaders as undesirable and unorganizable. The AFL
was a leading advocate for immigration restriction on both economic and nativist
grounds. This outlook deepens our

To be human is to be an individual human, with individual tastes, talents, values,
and aspirations that are distinct from those of others. Living in society, we are

the school, the workplace, the family etc. (paragraph 6). Logan Feys, the author of
The Sociology of Leopard Man , from The Rebirth of Reason, stated that masses of
individuals in society are continually expected to be similar to others or at least fit
in, socially. The desire to fit in is mostly each persons desire, but not Leopard Man,
he is distinct but he just wants to live his life in solitude and at peace. People in
society expect others to be the same, but to be humanis to be unlike others. Each and
every person has unique differences, but society discriminates each other. Logan
Feys is right about how society is wrong for judging others by appearance and not
accepting the differences within those people. People in society view individuals in
different ways, which is why the majority of people in society would view others the
same way, because if someone views a person from that perspective, chances are the
next person will view that one individualthe same way due to the fact that they all
want to fit in with each other, so that none of them would become outsiders. The
author states that Society looks down upon freakish and extraordinary individuals
alike and views them with suspicion. (paragraph 4). This

Saliva is produced by the salivary glands which are under the tongue and at the sides
of the upper jaw.
The brain can also be tricked to produce by saliva on call, we did this in a science
experiment where we rang a bell and then ate some WizzFizz which is a sweet
powder with some acids that make the month produce a lot of saliva. After repeating
the exercise of ringing the bell and eating the powder many times, we then rang the
bell without getting any WizzFizz and found the brain still produced saliva each time
the bell was rung.
Even though saliva is produced all the time, extra and slightly different saliva is
produced for digestion for several reasons One is that it acts as lubricant that helps
while mashing up the food and for helping the swallowing process and another is
that is releases enzymes that help break down the food by chemical reactions that
break bonds in the chemical molecules in the food. One of the main enzymes is
amylase which breaks down big sugars and carbohydrates to smaller sugars that are
easily available to the body to utilise for energy. Carbohydrates are the sugars,
starches, and fiber found in many foods. Carbohydrates are called simple or
complex, the simple ones include sugars found naturally in foods such as fruits,
vegetables, milk, as well as sugars added during food processing. Special
carbohydrates are starches and fiber
41. Argumentative Essay On The Glass Castle
Jeannette Walls, the author of a New York Times best selling book The Glass
Castle has opened up to readers in her memoir about her and her sibling s chaotic
and remarkably nomadic lifestyle. The Walls family had their own way of going
about life and handling their situations. Regardless of their living positions, they most
often times kept a pleasant mood in order to enrich their children s lives with
preposterous facts and intense discussions. Much of the Walls childhoodmemories
were constantly roaming the desert in hopes to never be found by the henchmen or
bloodsuckers. Aside from being on the run, Rex and Rose Walls, parents of the four
children, had always been on edge about money and their familys circumstances.
They somehow managed to influence their children in ways that would prepare them
for life on their own in more ways than the average childwould. The Walls children
learned tips on how to steal, make their own money, and live without food for days
at a time. Nevertheless, the Walls children often felt neglected by their parents.
Jeannette Walls was raised by non complacent living situations, precarious parents,
and self reliant siblings to get along in their childhood. Towards the end of Walls
memoir, she writes about how she is now living successfully and comfortably with
her own family. In a different perspective, many people have often wondered why
children grow up and flourish the way they do. It is easy to blame the lack of basic
needs (shelter,
42. Marriage Of Figaro Gender Roles
The Marriage of Figaro is an opera performed in 1786 in Vienna and remains
another one of Mozart s most prominent works. The opera is notable for its
depiction of the increased social status of women and its critical commentary on the
aristocracy and social hierarchy of its time, as the Countess and Susanna form a
rapport that transcends class boundaries and gender roles. Mozart further raises the
issue of aristocratic power while expressing the rights of the bourgeois, as women in
the play are further responsible for challenging the social order and standing up for
themselves through their physical environment. The Marriage of Figarois a socially
critical piece by its questioning of the upper class authority and its representation of

The importance of space and environment is apparent from the very beginning, as
the play opens up with Suzanne and Figaro bickering in their half furnished room.
In Act 2, the Countess is first featured in her boudoir alone and in reflection within
her space, Is there no consolation, O God of Love, in return for my sorrows and my
sighs? (39). The cabinet present in the Countess s boudoir plays an important part in
this regard, as Susanna s emergence from the closet at the end of Act 2, Are you
brandishing your sword to kill that disobedient page? (59), signifies her wielding of
power as she confronts the Count who apologizes for his foolishness. Furthermore,
the outdoor setting in Act 4, the gardens of the castle , is conducive the power that
the women wield, as Susanna refers to the environment as a charming place , where
even the darkness befriends my wishes (111). Susanna and the Countess trade clothes
in the darkness, which allows them to easily conceal their identities and carry out
their plan. In using the power of the natural environment as their ally, Suzanna comes
together with Figaro and the Countess forgives the Count which concludes the opera

43. Janice Shaw Crouse Teen Suicide
The main focus of this paper is to compare hamlet to teen suicides and family
dynamics. Many acts in the play represent some things you can see in modern teens
or families. Teen suicide is a major issue in today s society. In the play many things
that could lead to or cause suicide. One thing that can cause suicideis family
dynamics. If the family is broken it can lead to a lot of stress being put on the kids.
We know today that one major cause of suicide is depression, and there is a lot of
different factors that lead to depression. Things like bullying, death, divorce, and
stress can all be things that cause depression. Janice Shaw Crouse wrote an article
talking about teen suicides and in her writing she stated ...more than 90 percent of ...

Most people like to think that a perfect family consist of two parents, and two kid s
one of each sex. But the sad truth is that most family s today are broken. Just like
Meredith F. Small wrote ...our ideas of the perfect family are narrow and just plain
inaccurate... Most families are full of problems. Family s now a days are full of
pain and heart ache. Parent will get divorces and remarried separating the family and
making its difficult on the kids.
Hamlets family is full of lies and secrets. His father is dead and his mother married
his uncle. So along with dealing with his father s death he has to try and learn how
to deal with his uncle trying to act like his father. Hamlets family is a perfect
example of a broken family, and those family issues are huge reasons for his thought
of suicide. In a way Hamlets family have a lot of similarity with real life families. Its
very hard now a day to find a family that has two parents. Many are either divorced or
a parent has died and most end up re marring causing stress on

The Flight of Icarus
I find the most fascinating of ancient writings to be Greek mythology. Writings
produced by the early Greeks, in my opinion, even rival modern day literature. Hard
to believe considering everything the human race has experienced and endured up to
this point. With so many Greek tragedies, my favorite has to be The Flight of Icarus.
Our story begins on the isle of Crete. The earliest known settlers were the Minoans.
King Minos ruled this island nation. This Greek tragedy involves an inventor named
Daedalus. His homeland was Athens. For a short time, his apprentice was his sister s
son Perdix. When Daedalus feared that Perdix would surpass him in talent, he
murdered the boy by tossing him from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Minos promised to sacrifice the bull as an offering, but he coveted it for himself. He
assumed that Poseidon would not mind, so he kept it and sacrificed the best
specimen from his herd instead. When Poseidon learned about the deceit, he made
Minos wife fall madly in love with the white bull. The offspring of their lovemaking
was a monster called the Minotaur. The creature had the head and tail of a bull on the
body of a man. It caused such terror and destruction on Crete that Minos himself
summoned Daedalus. He ordered the architect to build a gigantic, intricate labyrinth
from which escape would be impossible. The Minotaur was captured and locked in
the labyrinth. Every year for nine years, seven youths and maidens came as a tribute
from Athens. These young people were locked in the labyrinth for the Minotaur to
feast upon. When the Greek hero Theseus reached Athens, he learned of the
Minotaur and the sacrifices, and wanted to end this. He volunteered to go to Crete
as one of the victims of the sacrifice. Upon his arrival in Crete, he met Ariadne,
Minos s daughter, who fell in love with Theseus. She promised she would provide
the means to escape from the maze if he agreed to marry her. Ariadne asked
Daedalus to help her. Daedalus gave her a flaxen thread for Theseus to tie to the
door of the labyrinth as he entered, and by which he could find his

Adam Carolla Lecture Paper
One of the basic tenets of life is that greater opportunities will appear to individuals
that actively pursue and know how to recognize them. Since the majority of us do
not have the luxury of being born into wealth or power, the choices that we make
ultimately shape our successes in life. Adam Carolla begins by using examples to
highlight the concepts of consistency and residual income. He explains that it is
easier and more useful to understand how to sell something and continue selling it
again and again as opposed to figuring out how to simply make a large amount of
money. As a student that had performed poorly in high school, he worked a variety
of jobs including carpet cleaner and boxing trainer ... Show more content on

Conversely, Adam Carolla cites an example of negative reinforcement being used
as a form of motivation. He refers to his time working as a carpet cleaner out of
high school and the pain he felt from working a horrible job with people he did not
like. Carolla explains that by being miserable at a bad job, he learned he did not
want to continue working at a career that he did not enjoy. Using pain as a
motivating factor, this realization forced Adam to forge a better career path for
himself. Another important aspect of creating opportunities revolves around the
concept of doing a job well regardless of whether you enjoy it or not. In reality, the
dream job is not typically the first job, the second job, or even the third. However,
this does not count as an excuse for not performing to the highest capacity at any
level of work. Adam expands, saying that it is crucial to get in the habit of doing
things well and not judge a job because you it feel it might be below you. Doing a
job properly and to the fullest ability demonstrates attention to the detail and is a
key indicator of overall job performance to employers. Experience and knowledge
are also key elements that an individual can use to take advantage of opportunities. In
order to obtain chance for advancement, it is imperative to commit the time to
understand all the aspects of a job and acquire the knowledge necessary for when the
opportunity does come. In

Canada has the most medals out of all 12 countries competing; Team USA has the
second most with sixteen. All of the rosters of the twelve teams have at least one
NHL player on its roster. However, the NHL is thinking about not letting its players
play in the Olympics because it cuts into the season, and there is a risk of getting
there star players injured.
When Team USA beat the Soviet in 1980 it was important for the US hockey world
because that team was seeded seventh entering the game against the Soviet Union.
During the 1980 Olympic run the average age was 22 and all the players that year
were both amateur and college players and the Soviet s team was mainly
professional and experienced players. This win gave coach Herb Brooks a place in
history because he did something no other USA coach has done for the last twenty
years and that is beat Russia, and he was named sportsman of the year in 1990.
In the Olympics for Hockey, they take the helmet and protecting the face rule very
serious. During warm ups, it has been required that all players wear helmets. If a
player is not wearing his helmet correctly during the game, the game will be
stopped and the player is penalized. The NHL is a little bit easier on players, it s
not required like in the Olympics where players have to wear a helmet during pre
game and if your helmet comes off in the during NHL play the game continues.
The NHL thinks the 2014 Olympics could be the last;

Prior to observing the workers and parkgoers and before my interview with Dawn,
I was fairly certain that I was going to see the workers, enforcing strict rules and

The park workers duties varied tremendously based on their level and status. Dawn
for example is towards the bottom of the workers totem pole. She is a green shirt
worker. As I previously explained, her primary responsibilities are to clean and
maintain the park. However, her supervisors, the button down shirts have more
power. They are there to supervise Dawn and her contemporaries, but also they
represent an authority within the park. However, the ladder of power continues to
expand. The park rangers, who are dressed in a complete uniform and equipped
with a badge, have complete power. They supervise all official park events and a
park goer does not want to be on the receiving end of a lecture form a park ranger,
nor do the fellow employees. However, as always in the system of power, the New
York City police are still at the top of the power structure. They can come and go
whenever they choose, and when they are in the park, the illicit activities seem

52. The Romantic Value Of Heroism In Sigurd The Volsung
In many myths, the hero is involved in a romantic relationship. However, the
relationship is usually very tumultuous and it does not end the way that either
party envisioned at the start. In the end, romance in heroic epics serves to
emphasize the cost of heroism and the fact that a hero is often not meant to receive
a happy ending. The beginning of Sigurd the Volsung might lead one to believe
that Sigurd is meant to live out the rest of his days with Brunhild by his side. He
rescues her from her castle imprisonment, thereby declaring himself her rightful
husband. They both declare their love for each other, and it seems that all is well.
However, from that point forward, their relationship takes a turn for the worst.
Sigurd is given a potion that causes him to forget about his feelings for Brunhild,
and he then goes on to marry another woman. When Brunhild learns of this, she is
understandably upset. However, she allows her anger to consume her. Deep down,

55. What Does Gertrude s Wardrobe Represent
For my visual representation of Queen Gertrude, I created a model of a wardrobe
containing various articles of clothing from the Elizabethan era that symbolize
different aspects of Gertrude s Personality. The wardrobe itselfs contains a lock on
the outside, as not much is actually known for certain about Gertrude s true nature
because she has very few lines, and much of what we know about her comes from the
opinions of other characters. The first item of clothingon the left side of the wardrobe
is a corset. A corset not only molds a womans torso to its desired shape, but also
forces the women to stand up straight, and can thus be seen as a symbol of the stern
and down to earth side of Gertrude s personality. This is the aspect of her personality

This represents the incestuous...adulterate side of Gertrude that Hamlet spends so
much time dwelling on (I.v.49). However, it is important to note that Gertrude
never confirms that her reason for marrying Claudius was sexual desire, and for
this reason, the smock is proportionally smaller than the rest of the clothing. Next
is a farthingale, which is a hooped petticoat that was meant to add volume to the
wearer s skirts. Just as a farthingale was used to elevate skirts, Gertrude took certain
actions in order to elevate her position in the royal court, such as her o erhasty
marriage to Claudius (II.ii.60). She was well aware that there would be
consequences to a quick marriage, but decided that the benefits outweighed them,
just as women wore hoop skirts to improve beauty even if it meant sacrificing
comfort. I chose to include a drawing of a mirror in order to reiterate the fact by
solely looking at Gertrude s outer appearance, there is not much that the reader can
