Culture Industry In Dialectic Of Enlightenment By Theodor...
In his work, Dialectic of Enlightenment, Theodor Adorno analyzes the nature of the culture industry.
People everywhere are constantly being consumed by the culture industry, which is a term for the
mass production of cultural goods such as films, magazines, and music. Adorno is concerned that the
government uses the cultural industry as a way to deceive the masses and manipulate them into
passivity. This idea remains true in today s society. Young men and women are more interested in the
release of the newest Taylor Swift or Adele song than political issues. People have become less
intellectual as they are being consumed by the culture industry. It is much easier for a person to let
himself be consumed by mass media and to let the media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They just accept it as a part of modern society because it is easier to go along with the system rather
than try to resist it. The culture industry affects everything in today s society. Adorno states, The
whole world is passed through the filter of the culture industry (99). Everywhere people go, there are
billboards, commercials, and advertisements that demand their attention. Before seeing a movie, one
must sit through previews of other movies that may interest them, as the theater hopes that the
moviegoer returns to watch another movie. In the culture industry, people no longer exist as
individuals. They only exist as objects that increase the wealth of the big business owners that control
this capitalistic society. Because no one contests the existence of the culture industry, the culture
industry can continue to exist. About the film and radio industries, Adorno states, They call
themselves industries, and the published figures for their directors incomes quell any doubts about the
social necessity of their finished products (95). Creating unique and groundbreaking films in today s
world is considered risky, and filmmakers would rather create sequels to films that were successful in
the box office. People excitedly consume these sequels and the directors make huge profits, thereby
ensuring yet another sequel to be made. Adorno also points out that the film and radio

Real world television shows are becoming more popular in society today because how people relate to
them. The hit ABC television series, Modern Family, shows us the life of one big, homosexual,
traditional, and enjoyable family. A Comedic TV show, that represents American roles and reality
well. The show was directed by Jason Wilber and created when, Christopher Lloyd and Steven
Levitan wanted to develop a show based off their own real life stories of their families in a
mockumentary style (Levitan, Lloyd). The series portrays an honest, hilarious view of family life
(Modern Family). It revolves around three different cultural families who live in Los Angeles. The
ABC family series, Modern Family is a television show with a unique structure that serves to tell the
story of three distinct families whose lives revolve around realistic situations that happen in American
families today.
The most traditional family, the Dunphys consists of Phil and Claire who have been married for 16
years and have three kids Haley, Luke, and Alex. Phil sees himself as the cool dad as Claire has to take
the responsible parenting role. Haley is the oldest who is shown as a ditzy yet attractive character,
Alex is intelligent and would rather study instead of going out. Luke plays the roll of a clumsy and
innocent young son. The Pritchett Delgado family consists of Jay, who is Claires biological father. He

Weimar Germany
Germany was like a battered solider coming home after War World I. He expected to find his
comfortable and familiar civilian life right where he left it. Back to normality, back to stability and
safety. However, that unchanged and perfect ideal of home that he expected no longer existed. They
had foreign invaders on their soil and influencing their people. After the loss of World War I, the
German economy were imposed with financial responsibilities according the Treaty of Versailles in
1919. Germans were expected to pay reparations to the Allied powers while their territory was
significantly reduced plagued with hyperinflation (ushmm.org 2014).These reparations created a

INTRODUCTION This course has had a great impact on my walk with Christ as well as my witness
for Christ. I pastor a church and teach two classes and for me I thought that I was doing plenty.
However this course has helped rekindle my passion for sharing Jesus Christ with people through
personal evangelism. This paper will demonstrate what I have learned throughout this course.
EVANGELISM AS IT RELATES TO CHRISTIAN WALK In Philippians 1:27, Paul writes; Only let
your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I
may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We place great emphases with the horizontal relationship and we try to do our best to keep those
relationships in a healthy zone, but our vertical relationship must be kept up with as well. If our
vertical relationship is not maintained and kept healthy then it only points to one major problem and
that is we are out of fellowship with God. Jesus knew that people could see the difference whether
people were sincere or not. That s why he stressed the importance of a right relationship with God so
that when we do good works or witness people will know we are sincere. Wheeler and Whaley write;
Our daily actions toward all people, believers and non believer should reflect a commitment to life
style worship evangelism. The size of our churches and budgets due not matter in winning souls for
Christ. We must understand that if people know that we love God and love them we then can have a
great opportunity to share the gospel. The authors write; worship and witness are best demonstrated in
how we react to, reach out to, treat, manage, talk with and pray for people. Another way evangelism
relates to the Christian walk is that we as Christians relate to each other. Wheeler and Whaley remind
us that it is important for the members of the church to get along and love one another. I was going on
a witnessing tour through our neighborhood and came across a home that was filled

The Devastating Power of Western Colonialism Essay
The colonial efforts of an imperialist power leave a wake of suffering and death, usually for the mere
purpose of propagating political, economic or military advantages. The culture and status of the
colonized is forever altered by the often cruel and violent actions taken by the colonizers during their
initial struggle for influence, along with the long term impacts that slavery, subjugation, cultural
appropriation and linguistic imperialism have over a colonized region. Hegemonic rule and full scale
imperial endeavors defined English and France foreign affairs during the 19th and early 20th
centuries. As the two largest imperialist superpowers of the time, France and Britain made countless
imperial acquisitions, not the least of which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the nineteenth century, a significant gap started to emerge between the dominant Western
powers an the rest of the world (Marks). The effects of this gap, built in large part on circumstance and
chance can still be seen to this day. The long term impacts of western colonialism extend far beyond
the boundaries of the newly industrialized societies, helping build the foundation for western peri
industrial imperialist culture. The causes for a nation s transition into a more nationalistic identity are
usually complex and nuanced, historically these shifts tend to correspond to reactions to periods of
great pressure and struggle or periods of great economic triumph and innovation. It can be difficult to
ascertain why an entire culture can become compliant in the often atrocious actions that are carried out
through imperialist . A sense of unity within a culture can often emerge as a reaction to a general
feeling tremendous power and influence or of great weakness and vulnerability. While cultural unity
has the potential to be massively beneficial, it can also have horrific consequences. Attempts towards
unification of cultural attitudes towards another group of people is a common tactic towards gaining
support for war, but it s also used as a means for justifying the inhumane treatment of individuals that

Charlestown Light Display
It s the time of the year where people turn yards into a giant light displays. In many town squares
people create an electric winter wonderland by creating light displays that are set up in amazing
patterns to make props of anything that is relative of Christmas, scenes from famous Christmas
movies, famous Christmas characters, or Characters that have a cartoon or movie. have speakers that
play Christmas music, and setting lights to turn on or off to make a part. In Scottsburg sadly we have a
display, but its not interactive or impressive as other towns.
There are some alternatives to the crisis of wanting a good display you can visit these local displays
that you will enjoy. In Charlestown they have a fully automated light display with music, lights, and
fake snow machines almost every year. Each year there is something new added to the display making
it even better than before. The lights that are in the display are centered in the park in the square, but
they put the lights not only in that one space in the park but on surrounding buildings. The

Why Companies Fail At Operation Excellence Implementation
Other factors that drive the need for operational excellence is the recognition. Shingo prize is an award
that recognizes organizations that have successfully implemented operation excellence. Having such a
recognition as a winner put the business on the top line compared to other businesses. That helps the
business reputation, and that is good for business.
Why Some Business Fail at OPEX Implementation
Considering the amount of effort required to implement operational excellence, it can be disastrous if
it fails to achieve the expected outcome (Casey, 2010). For operational excellence to be successful, the
people, process and technology have to concur. There are several reasons why businesses fail at
operation excellence implementation. This is because operational excellence requires a wide range of
skill, commitment, and people to work together and be successful.
Connolly (2012) study found the following reasons why operation excellence program in some
organization fail: Lack of support from leadership, improper team selection and lack of training for all
stakeholders, lack of communication all around the organization, lack of scope clarity, improper
implementation, misconception, and the Good old ways resistance.
1. Lack of support from leadership: Operation excellence requires total support from all levels of the
organization and this is very important to the survival of the program. The support help drives the
program financial needs, and since the leaders set

The Contribution Of Oda Nobunaga s Impact On Japan
Hideyoshi under his Daimyo, or feudal lord, Oda Nobunaga, would learn well what it meant to be a
samurai. Of course the samurai protected their homes and families, but their true glory came on the
battlefield, defending their lord against enemies. Born the son of a daimyo in 1534, Nobunaga s reign
though short, had an immense impact on Japan. Lord of Nagoya Castle, he destroyed opposing clans
in brilliant campaigns against superior forces. He was the first daimyo general to adopt the newly
imported Western muskets. He gradually gained control of the region round the capital Kyoto, which
he took in 1568. In 1580, he became master of all central Japan.
Nobunaga continued to amass power, but before he could subdue the whole country, he was caught off
guard one night by a rebellious vassal, Akechi Mitsuhide. The life of the most powerful warlord in
Japan ended in 1582. Ruthless and feared upon the mere mention of his name, Nobunaga was the first
to begin the unification of war torn Japan. A unification, which Hideyoshi would later complete in

Japanese society respected the samurai as those who had the power to resolve conflicts and keep the
peace . They were therefore entitled to govern the country because of their superior military power
and peace keeping ability. They ruled because of their power, yet they had to also prove their
entitlement to do so. This is why legitimation was needed. Becoming a samurai and learning the way
of the warrior was dependant on lineal descent. Warriors who were not of direct line ancestry were
allowed to be subservient samurai yet were tabooed by the imperial court at ever becoming a shogun,
the Great general who ruled over government in feudal Japan. In this age, pedigree was an important

The African Textile Industry
The African textile industry dates back to as far as 5,000 B.C when the Egyptians engaged in cloth
making; their clothing were simple, and did not differ a lot between social classes. A fast forward to
the times when the African empires of Ghana and Mali reigned shows particular colors and cloths
being solely used for royalty and nobles. A further look into present day Africa and we see a society
where the textile industry has blossomed, and specific designs and techniques of textile making have
become unique to particular regions and tribes. For instance, the Kente is distinct to the Ewe and
Ashanti peoples of Ghana, the Yoruba of Nigeria are known for their ornate designs, and the mud
cloth is exclusive to Mali. The continent of Africa boasts an array of flamboyant as well as simple
designs that are either hand woven, or machine spun. African textiles are highly differentiated, and the
weavers are skilled intellects with great mathematical and creative skill despite the, Eurocentric
conception of Africa as a dark continent and its people as uncivilized. (Africa, 7) In the African culture
today, clothing is not simply used as protection, or to showcase individual style; instead, clothing
serves as a communicative mechanism, telling stories of wealth and social class, stories of belonging
to a particular tribe, religion, or region, tales of ancestral ties, and even vital past events. In past times,
it was only a wealthy man that could wear cloth that was colored because

Although the GroupMe is the main form of communication of the group as a whole, there are other
opportunities for members to interact. Often computer science students will hang out with each other
and complain about or do work together. Any interactions between the members of the community
contain several different lexicons of the group that range from using just the course number to refer to
classes without the preceding letters to referring to certain instructors as members of the cabal . The
latter of the two comes from a homework assignment where students had to prove logically which
instructors where part of the cabal, defined by the assignment as people plotting to make ridiculously
hard quizzes that needed to be answered in ancient hieroglyphics. This term is also conversely used to
point out which instructors are against the cabal. Another important lexicon is you are your own baby
which comes from a lecture where it was proven that if everyone loves your baby and your baby loves
no one but you, you are your own baby. This lexicon is also used as a meme within the community
whenever things do not make sense. Other lexicons that are more normal, include anything related to
programming such as big oh notation and trees . Typically, people think of trees as big things with
green leaves but to a computer science student it could also mean a data

Politeness And Its Impact On The Early Nineteenth Century
As a result of the term politeness being mainly used as a verbal fixture in the eighteenth century, it
was frequently used in a vacuous manner resulting in its adding relatively little to both the general
notions of correctness and refinement (Stein van Ostade, 1994). However, during the early part of the
eighteenth century, there is significant evidence of the term politeness having a definite and specific
set of resonances. The importance of investigating the notion of politeness in the early eighteenth
century is that although the main idiom of politeness is seen to have generally been cultivated in a
number of important ways by numerous writers during the restoration decades, it has been mainly
crystallised during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, politeness was generally used to help in evoking a vision
of culture and social life, which is considered to be appropriate to modern times. This vision of
politeness, linking cultural refinement and moral improvement, was epitomised in gentlemanly and
urbane conversations (Stein van Ostade, 1994). Politeness was found to be mainly a refined condition
of social interactions (Atkinson, 1999), while social politeness was found to be paradigmatically
conversational. Conversational politeness attempts to pursue verbal agreeableness that is essentially
captured in a characteristic vocabulary in the form of phrases and words, such as soft, natural, easy
and never tiresome (Stein van Ostade, 1994).Thus, although the actual origins of the subject of
politeness were mainly on the basis of social interactions, politeness eventually came to take an
essentially exemplary role for general conversations in written discourse. Polite texts were deemed to
be specifically conversational in nature. The actual pace of commenting on the English language was
remarkably quickened in the late seventeenth through to the eighteenth century. Though a large
number of language related texts were published during this period as a result of advancements in
printing (Kernan, 1989), there were new concerns with the notion of

It motivates the executives to define the basic objectives of the company, it gives a structure to the

Who are the participants in the budgeting process, and how do they participate?
First the management must choose a period of time for which the budget will be used; the most
convenient period is of one year. A period can also be of one month in which it is easier to compare
the real expenses against the planned expenses. A committee of budgeting formed by several members
of the organization executives watch the process of the preparation of the budgeting. This committee
sets the rules by which the budgeting must be done and coordinates the budgets that separately are
prepared by the different units in the organization, and solves conflicts that may arise to later present
the final budgeting plan to the general director and the consul. Instructions must be delivered by the
ordinary chain of command. Decisions over the budgeting must be done by the line of command, and
the final planning by the general director, while the staff can only give advises, but cannot decide. The
person who decides is the budgeting director. His main functions are to inform the mechanism of the
budgeting preparation through computers and telecommunications, to give the macroeconomics
information, make the necessary calculations, gather the numbers for the budget, and watch that each
part of the company gives their proposals on time. Once the period of time is established, the

My Life For Rebuilding 90 s Model Cars
My husband and I have a strong passion for rebuilding 90 s model cars such as civics, hatchbacks,
Acura s, Mitsubishi Eclipse s, Celica s, etc. We do two project cars a year, and have done so for the
past four years. We used to be able to find older vehicles that were still in good condition, the
upholstery was in good condition, and there wasn t much wrong mechanically. About two years ago
we started to notice the lack of maintenance and time people would actually put into their cars. From
experience, a car will not run if not properly taken care of and serviced in the correct time frame.
Normally when my husband and I get a vehicle we always start under the hood. First, check the oil.
Without oil, people run the risk of seizing and locking up the engine and then it becomes a lot more
expensive than just a few quarts of oil. Most people I have noticed, don t know how often to change
their oil. When using regular blend oil, it should be changed around every 3,500 miles. When
purchasing synthetic oil, which is used in most vehicles today drivers should change it around 7,000
miles. After checking the oil, we check the tire pressure to ensure the correct lbs. of pressure required
for the type of tires and vehicle we have. Other fluid levels to check include the coolant reservoir, anti
freeze levels, as well as transmission and brake fluid. Aside from fluids, when my husband would
perform a tune up on a vehicle new to us, he would also check the spark plugs and wires

The Pros And Cons Of Makah Whaling
Introduction
The debate surrounding Makah whaling is a heated one to say the least. There are valid points on both
sides of the argument, but there is one side I find to be more valid once the facts have been looked at. I
will examine and present my findings regarding past and current laws and regulations related to
whaling, types of whaling, other countries that take an active part in whaling (and why), as well as the
Makah culture both past and present. In this paper I will argue why the Makah should not be allowed
to resume whaling, as it is unnecessary and could potentially put the grey whale species back on the
endangered list.
The International Whaling Commission (IWC)
In 1946 a group of 15 nations gathered together to sign a treaty aimed at conserving the whale
population following their strong concern regarding the over hunting of whales. The treaty led to the
creation of an oversight body known as the International Whaling Commission (IWC) that was
created under the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling. The Convention is intended
to allow for the proper conservation of whale stocks and make the established development of the

small motels on the reservation make money from fishermen and tourists. The federal government is
worried about the possibility that the Makah could do business with Japan and/or Norway, selling
harvested whale meat illegally. Whale meat sells for high prices in Japan. This concern is valid, as

Hey Jude Analysis
Is an imitation of an already existing artwork a separate artwork in itself? Some philosophers consider
would consider saying yes to this question such as Davies from the theory of multiple artworks while
others may say no such as Collingwood in his differentiation of a true artwork as contrasted with a
craft. There are many instances of artwork that are only imitations but the credit for its appreciation
are given to different people. For example, would a cover for Hey Jude by the Beatles in Youtube be
considered an instance of the musical work Hey Jude or would it be considered an entirely separate
artwork? The title of the song that is being sung remains Hey Jude but the appreciation of the

For example, a man singing Yellow by Coldplay would be a co author of his own performance along
with Coldplay but only if they intended to imitate the song in its original form. Even without all the
instruments present, if the intent is there to imitate the song Yellow with the best of his abilities, then
they would be in a joint authorship. However, if the intent is for there to be a change to the original,
then the imitation artist would be comparable to a ready made artist such as Duchamp. Joint
authorship according to Livingston requires that the authors share the aim for contributing to the
making of a single... work and in this case, the aim of the imitation author would not be sharing the
same aim in contributing to that work as the original artist intended. In the case of Duchamp s

role of being an artwork as it is to be regarded in a different manner than of a normal urinal, Duchamp
s L.H.O.O.Q. only gives proper credit to the creator, Duchamp and not Da Vinci. This can be applied

Analysis Of Mrs Warrens Profession
The play Mrs. Warrens Profession by George Bernard Shaw is about a well educated young woman
named Vivie who lives just outside of London. She was raised in a drastically different manner than
her mother. Vivie in fact did not know her mother very well and even grew up away at prestigious
schools away from her mother s care. Vivie was well educated, has a degree in math, and plans to get
a job in London. The play is centered on the discussion between Vivie and Mrs. Warren about the
morality about Mrs. Warren s profession as a sex worker. Although the play is called Mrs. Warrens
profession, the play is mostly about the ways that Vivie s interactions with her mother change her. The
play opens with Vivie sitting on her porch and being informed that her mother is coming from London
to visit her. Vivie s upbringing was different from her mother in such a drastic way and it calls into
question the morality of the decisions that Mrs. Warren made in her earlier years. Mrs. Warren had to
make a decision in her earlier years that was morally wrong for most but she made it because her
morals were outweighed by the circumstances in which she was in. Shaw was known to be interested
in socialism and would write his works to reflect the views he wished to push into society. The play
Mrs. Warrens Profession has many tones of morality involved in the text. The discussions and
decisions of the characters in the play are all about the morality based on each individual s

Fetal Viability
Societies and organizations around the world hold different beliefs on the question of when life
begins. Opinions range from the belief that life begins at fertilization to others that believe that life
cannot begin until the child is born (Kelly, 1995, p. 65). At the moment it is legal to have an abortion
in Great Britain up to the 24th gestation. Those in favor of abortion often suggest the debate centers
around when the fetus becomes sufficiently human to have the right, opponents believe the fetus is
never anything other than human from conception (BBC Ethics, 2014). However neither side of the
abortion debate can draw much support from simple word of mouth, legislation has taken abortion

Fetal viability is known as the point at which a fetus can survive outside of the mother s womb
(Nursing Times, 2014). The Human Fertilization and Embryology Act of 1990 states that the upper
gestation limit for legal termination is defined as the end of the 24th week of pregnancy (Magil
Cuerden, 2011, p. 753). There have always been two arguments for the 24th week limit that; that it
presents a social/political compromise taking into account public opinion and that it presents the lower
limit of fetal viability (Alan Guttmacher Institute, 1999). Those that want the abortion time limit to be
lowered argue that the survival rate of premature babies has improved since the 1990 s, the last time
the law was changed. In the last 60 years or so advances in technology have enabled women to give
birth to premature babies (Magil Cuerden, 2011, p. 641). Those that want the abortion limit to be
lowered argue that the survival rate of premature has improved since 1990. According to them medical
science and technology have made it easier for premature babies born between 21 22 weeks and six
days to be saved and viability is now set at 19weeks (Acred, 2012, p. 21)

What Is The Role Of Communism In America
After teaming up to defeat the Axis powers in World War Ⅱ, the United States and the USSR were left
as the two superpowers of the world. With their conflicting ideals, they became great enemies. One of
the main roots of the opposition, was the conflicting communism in the Soviet Union and capitalism
in America. Following World War Ⅱ, the Korean War broke out. This war incited the fear of the spread
of communism throughout America. Even though the United States had reasons to be worried,
especially after the Korean War and Sputnik, much of the conflict was highly exaggerated and
overcompensated by America and justified the use of fear tactics throughout the United States, like
HUAC, to create alarm and panic.

when North Korea invaded South Korea and the United States viewed it as an attack on them from the

communist feelings in America. The view of communism as monolithic and the unification through a

The Next Generation of Storytelling Essay
Storytelling has been mankind s most broad and universal occupation since its conception and has

A famous game that followed a clear and simple pattern was Mario, where the player was given the
task of searching for the princess in successively empty castles. Another example of an early game is
Space Invaders, where the goal of the game was to destroy multiple rows of pixelated aliens. Because
storytelling techniques were primitive in the early years, the player was not rewarded with cutscenes
that drove the plot forward; instead he got points that were accumulated a total score. However, with
the passing of time, technology and the gaming audience evolved and matured, creating new
opportunities for the medium to expand its horizons and develop new storytelling techniques.
Following the significant evolutions in technology, video games have adopted these advancements and
continued to become more elaborate, especially with the use of motion capture, which allows
technicians to capture and record the live performance of actors that are applied to the 3D models of
the virtual character. This is only one element that makes the products of this medium so appealing
and immersive for the player. These technological advancements have given to the developers of
video games the opportunity to construct stories and characters which are more believable and
complex, bringing about a narrative revolution. In recent years, video games have boasted captivating

Paladins can also use Holy Shock or Crusader Strike to contain Holy Power charges. There are two
types of blessings that can be given to any player as long as they are in the same group as the Paladin.

When playing as a Holy Paladin, you are harder to take down when being attacked. Also, they do not
suffer as much when they are attacked. You can play as a Retribution Paladin, which are phenomenal
damage dealers and they focus on killing their enemies. A Protection Paladin are tanks that can hold

permanent buff that assist an entire party, as long as the members are within forty yards of the Paladin.
There are five different types of Auras; devotion aura, retribution aura, concentration aura, resistance

group, they may all use different Auras. If two Paladins use the same Aura, it will not double your

valuable unless suitably talented. Unless you play as the Retribution Paladin, some of the armor and

The use of beta blockers to slow the heart rate may benefit patients who have episodes of tachycardia,

patientwill probably not need treatment. If it has become severe, then the patient can benefit from

Historians are people who always seek the truth about the past insofar as that is possible. Truth that is
never quite attainable in a straight line that is never precisely straight. Historians are craftsmen who

The Mystery Behind King Tut Essay
The Mystery Behind King Tut; Life and Death of the Boy King.
By all accounts, King Tutankhamun ascended to the throne at the tender young age of 9 years,
inheriting a tumultuous populace after the reign of the radical Pharaoh, Akhenaten. The young king s
reign was cut short when he died prematurely, when he was around 19 years of age, leaving no
surviving son to follow as his successor.
For 3 000 or so years following his death, Tutankhamun remained an elusive figure, with little detail
about his life. With the discovery of his tomb in 1922 by Archaeologist Howard Carter, the mystery
only deepened.
The most burning question; how did he die?

Tut, who had dies over 3, 000 years ago, is not about to give up his secrets easily, and we are left to
resort to science and technology to solve the mystery. There are three recurring theories that try to
explain his death; chariot accident, illness, or, more sinisterly, murder.
The murder theory inflamed when the first x ray test of the mummy in 1968 indicated an inter cranial
bone fragment lodged within the skull suggesting a blow to the death. Pharaohs were regarded as
living Gods, even more than the political and religious leader, and to kill the Pharaoh was
inconceivable. Throughout history, there are very few instances that record a Pharaoh being
assassinated, and in Tut s case too the murder theory was discarded when conclusive evidence
emerged that showed that the damage had been done after the mummification.
Unfortunately, Tut s mummy sustained heavy damage when Carter attempted to remove the body from
the confining space which housed it. Further damage occurred when the death mask, which had stuck
to the face and torso was removed. Therefore it is difficult to say that the extensive bone damage had
occurred when Tut was alive, the result of a devastating

Older students can dissect an owl pellet. We can take the lesson further and explore what animals stay
in the winter and how they survive. Since this is a story of what a boy did with his father, perhaps the
students can discuss or write about an activity they have done with a parent, grandparent, or friend. I
remember writing a short story when I was seven, about snowmobiling with my grandfather. I drew a
picture with the story; I think my mother laminated it.
I chose Owl Moon because it reminded so much of where I live. Although I have never been on an
owling , I have had many opportunities to hear them. The words of the author and the illustrator
transported me to our meadow path. Our feet crunched over the crisp snow , reminds me when my

Gallipoli Movie Review Essay
The film Gallipoli takes place during World War I s Gallipoli campaign in 1915. The two main
characters in the film are Archy and Frank. Archy and Frank are from Western Australia and they both
enlist to fight in Gallipoli. Archy is an extremely fast runner who meets Frank at an athletics
competition. We can see from the beginning that Archy is eager to join the war. After being turned
down because he was underage, he goes to Perth, anxious for someone to accept him into the light
horsemen. Frank, however, is skeptical about Australians wanting to join the war. He tells Archy that it

Archy and Frank stick together through all of the war training exercises in Egypt and they fight
together on the front at Gallipoli.
Another element of mate ship is shown in the last part of the film. When the final battle of Gallipoli
approaches, Archy persuades Major Barton to assign Frank as his runner because Archy knows that
Frank does not have as much commitment as he does on the fighting service. Archy gets Frank a safer
position and decided to sacrifice his own life for his best mate. (Gammage)
Some more ideals that are glorified in the film are bravery and honor. The experiences at Gallipoli
gave Australians a new identity which made them distinguishable from any other nation. At the start of
the film we see that almost everyone wants to enlist in the war. Although many Australian men enlist
totally naive to the dangers awaiting them, once they are in Gallipoli they fight fearlessly, with the
attitude that they are doing it for their country. Anyone who is studying Australian history would do
well to watch this film. The film is historically accurate which means that students can use it as a
direct source of information and evidence. The fact that the film is portrayed as a dramatized story
makes the many aspects of Australia and its participation of World War I much easier to understand
than a any text book would. (Broadbent)

Pentecostalism is considered one of the greatest universal movement that transformed immensely the

historic meetings known as Aziza Street revivals, which had more than 50,000 supporters by 1606
(Alexander 78). Seymour s mission concentrated preaching about speaking in tongues, baptism by
fire, soul winning, and unity in Christ (Espinosa 82). This formed Azusa pilgrim as Christians from all
over the world travel to the revivals, got anointed, and went back to impact their churches.
Today, the Pentecostal faith is one of the largest and most significant movement of the 20th century.
Commencing in 1901 with very few students, the number of followers that have joined the Pentecostal
denomination has greatly increased to close to 700 million members.
The Major Pentecostal Beliefs and Teachings
Salvation
According to Pentecostalism, salvation is received through forgiveness of sins and believing in the
death of Jesus Christ and his resurrection (Alexander 59). After doing so, the individual would become
acquainted with God. Salvation is considered a new birth (born again) attained only through the grace
of God (Espinosa 82). This happens when the individual develops faith in Christ as their Lord and

Morality, By Joan Didion
Morality in its basic definition, is the knowledge between what is right and what is wrong. In Joan
Didion s essay, On Morality, she uses examples to show how morality is used to justify actions and
decisions by people. She explains that morality can have a profound effect on the decisions that people
chose to make. I think that morality is an idea that is different for every individual based on morals
and background.
In Joan Didion s piece, On Morality, she objectivity thinks that every individual has a different
conception of morality. She believes that each individual has their own meaning of morality and that
people use their own personal meanings to justify right versus wrong in life. I agree with Joan Didion
that people determine what is considered to be moral in their own opinions. Overall, I believe that
morality exists and that it is defined differently by each individual. I believe that humans collectively
require morality in order to prevent chaos and that everyone defines what is right by their own
personal opinion. Overall, as a society, I believe that morality is needed to draw a thin line between
the right and wrong whether they are based on law or morals.
In order to illustrate her point, Didion uses Klaus Fuchs and Alfred Rosenberg as examples. Fuchs was
a British traitor who leaked nuclear secrets to the Soviets while Rosenberg was a Nazi administrator
who was apart of the heinous and murderous acts during World War II. Didion adds the quote, I

Student Involvement In Higher Education
Universities and colleges from corner to corner of the country face a non increasing problem of
student attrition; student involvement could be a key part of decreasing this issue. Why should we get
involved? A few reasons why we should get involved in college: failure to become involved in campus
activities, organizations, and extracurricular activities, which promote involvement and integration of
college life, can lead to higher chances of attrition for some students? Roberts, Jalynn. Student

Research Report On The Red Line Essay
Figure # 6 Stress is the result of both trends and events in climate (Jentsch et al. 2007). The red line
indicates a shifting baseline level of forest stress through time due to an increasing trend in
temperature; the grey line represents stress changes due to multi year oscillations in precipitation and
temperature that are inherent in the climate system, producing stress events like extreme droughts and
heat waves. Atmospheric warming increases both baseline and extreme drought stresses through time,
thereby driving elevated tree mortality vulnerability. Increasing temperature alone drives greater forest
drought stress (Adams et al. 2009, Williams et al. 2013), and because temperature is increasing
chronically, so is forest stress. Swings in forest drought stress push forests closer (or further) from the
historical mortality threshold (dashed black line), but given the chronic increase in forest stress
associated with ongoing anthropogenic warming, the frequency, magnitude, and duration of these
swings above the mortality threshold increase through time. If unabated, chronic warming eventually
will cause even relatively wet periods to exceed the mortality stress threshold for present day forests
(Allen, Breshears, McDowell, 2015).
Mr. Anderegg designed a model that quantified drought stress as climatic water deficit (CWD) the
difference between plant water demand, which is determined by atmospheric water demand (here,
potential evapotranspiration, (PET), and plant

Write An Essay On Bees Pollinators
90% of the world s nutrition is pollinated by bees. This is 70 out of 100 food crops. Every one bite of
food you eat (out of three) everyday, has been pollinated by bees. So everytime you eat you have a bee
to thank. About 80% of pollination all over the world is performed by bees. Fruits, nuts, and
vegetables are pollinated by bees. If we lost bees, more than 80% of the varieties of food we eat every
single day could be gone. Since 2006 the loss of commercial honey bees has went up by 40%. If we
do not start preserving the lives of bees, it could mean not only losing them but also major loss of our
own kind. ⅓ of the food that we ingest on a daily basis depends on bees and other pollinators.
Currently, more and more bees are dying. Whether

  • 2. Culture Industry In Dialectic Of Enlightenment By Theodor... In his work, Dialectic of Enlightenment, Theodor Adorno analyzes the nature of the culture industry. People everywhere are constantly being consumed by the culture industry, which is a term for the mass production of cultural goods such as films, magazines, and music. Adorno is concerned that the government uses the cultural industry as a way to deceive the masses and manipulate them into passivity. This idea remains true in today s society. Young men and women are more interested in the release of the newest Taylor Swift or Adele song than political issues. People have become less intellectual as they are being consumed by the culture industry. It is much easier for a person to let himself be consumed by mass media and to let the media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They just accept it as a part of modern society because it is easier to go along with the system rather than try to resist it. The culture industry affects everything in today s society. Adorno states, The whole world is passed through the filter of the culture industry (99). Everywhere people go, there are billboards, commercials, and advertisements that demand their attention. Before seeing a movie, one must sit through previews of other movies that may interest them, as the theater hopes that the moviegoer returns to watch another movie. In the culture industry, people no longer exist as individuals. They only exist as objects that increase the wealth of the big business owners that control this capitalistic society. Because no one contests the existence of the culture industry, the culture industry can continue to exist. About the film and radio industries, Adorno states, They call themselves industries, and the published figures for their directors incomes quell any doubts about the social necessity of their finished products (95). Creating unique and groundbreaking films in today s world is considered risky, and filmmakers would rather create sequels to films that were successful in the box office. People excitedly consume these sequels and the directors make huge profits, thereby ensuring yet another sequel to be made. Adorno also points out that the film and radio ... Evangelism Paper EVANGELISM VISION PAPER Herb Tarlike EVAN 525 LUONLINE Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary 3/7/14 INTRODUCTION This course has had a great impact on my walk with Christ as well as my witness for Christ. I pastor a church and teach two classes and for me I thought that I was doing plenty. However this course has helped rekindle my passion for sharing Jesus Christ with people through personal evangelism. This paper will demonstrate what I have learned throughout this course. We place great emphases with the horizontal relationship and we try to do our best to keep those relationships in a healthy zone, but our vertical relationship must be kept up with as well. If our vertical relationship is not maintained and kept healthy then it only points to one major problem and that is we are out of fellowship with God. Jesus knew that people could see the difference whether people were sincere or not. That s why he stressed the importance of a right relationship with God so that when we do good works or witness people will know we are sincere. Wheeler and Whaley write; Our daily actions toward all people, believers and non believer should reflect a commitment to life style worship evangelism. The size of our churches and budgets due not matter in winning souls for Christ. We must understand that if people know that we love God and love them we then can have a great opportunity to share the gospel. The authors write; worship and witness are best demonstrated in how we react to, reach out to, treat, manage, talk with and pray for people. Another way evangelism relates to the Christian walk is that we as Christians relate to each other. Wheeler and Whaley remind us that it is important for the members of the church to get along and love one another. The culture and status of the colonized is forever altered by the often cruel and violent actions taken by the colonizers during their initial struggle for influence, along with the long term impacts that slavery, subjugation, cultural appropriation and linguistic imperialism have over a colonized region. During the nineteenth century, a significant gap started to emerge between the dominant Western powers an the rest of the world (Marks). The effects of this gap, built in large part on circumstance and chance can still be seen to this day. The long term impacts of western colonialism extend far beyond the boundaries of the newly industrialized societies, helping build the foundation for western peri industrial imperialist culture. The causes for a nation s transition into a more nationalistic identity are usually complex and nuanced, historically these shifts tend to correspond to reactions to periods of great pressure and struggle or periods of great economic triumph and innovation. It can be difficult to ascertain why an entire culture can become compliant in the often atrocious actions that are carried out through imperialist . However, during the early part of the eighteenth century, there is significant evidence of the term politeness having a definite and specific set of resonances. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, politeness was generally used to help in evoking a vision of culture and social life, which is considered to be appropriate to modern times. This vision of politeness, linking cultural refinement and moral improvement, was epitomised in gentlemanly and urbane conversations (Stein van Ostade, 1994). Politeness was found to be mainly a refined condition of social interactions (Atkinson, 1999), while social politeness was found to be paradigmatically conversational. Conversational politeness attempts to pursue verbal agreeableness that is essentially captured in a characteristic vocabulary in the form of phrases and words, such as soft, natural, easy and never tiresome (Stein van Ostade, 1994).Thus, although the actual origins of the subject of politeness were mainly on the basis of social interactions, politeness eventually came to take an essentially exemplary role for general conversations in written discourse. Polite texts were deemed to be specifically conversational in nature. The actual pace of commenting on the English language was remarkably quickened in the late seventeenth through to the eighteenth century. My Life For Rebuilding 90 s Model Cars My husband and I have a strong passion for rebuilding 90 s model cars such as civics, hatchbacks, Acura s, Mitsubishi Eclipse s, Celica s, etc. We do two project cars a year, and have done so for the past four years. We used to be able to find older vehicles that were still in good condition, the upholstery was in good condition, and there wasn t much wrong mechanically. About two years ago we started to notice the lack of maintenance and time people would actually put into their cars. From experience, a car will not run if not properly taken care of and serviced in the correct time frame. Normally when my husband and I get a vehicle we always start under the hood. First, check the oil. Without oil, people run the risk of seizing and locking up the engine and then it becomes a lot more expensive than just a few quarts of oil. Most people I have noticed, don t know how often to change their oil. When using regular blend oil, it should be changed around every 3,500 miles. When purchasing synthetic oil, which is used in most vehicles today drivers should change it around 7,000 miles. After checking the oil, we check the tire pressure to ensure the correct lbs. of pressure required for the type of tires and vehicle we have. Other fluid levels to check include the coolant reservoir, anti freeze levels, as well as transmission and brake fluid. Aside from fluids, when my husband would perform a tune up on a vehicle new to us, he would also check the spark plugs and wires ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. The Pros And Cons Of Makah Whaling Introduction The debate surrounding Makah whaling is a heated one to say the least. There are valid points on both sides of the argument, but there is one side I find to be more valid once the facts have been looked at. I will examine and present my findings regarding past and current laws and regulations related to whaling, types of whaling, other countries that take an active part in whaling (and why), as well as the Makah culture both past and present. In this paper I will argue why the Makah should not be allowed to resume whaling, as it is unnecessary and could potentially put the grey whale species back on the endangered list. The International Whaling Commission (IWC) In 1946 a group of 15 nations gathered together to sign a treaty aimed at conserving the whale population following their strong concern regarding the over hunting of whales. The treaty led to the creation of an oversight body known as the International Whaling Commission (IWC) that was created under the International Convention for the Regulation of Whaling. Archy and Frank are from Western Australia and they both enlist to fight in Gallipoli. Archy is an extremely fast runner who meets Frank at an athletics competition. We can see from the beginning that Archy is eager to join the war. After being turned down because he was underage, he goes to Perth, anxious for someone to accept him into the light horsemen. Frank, however, is skeptical about Australians wanting to join the war. He tells Archy that it s not our war to fight . Despite this statement, Frank eventually joins up into the Infantry. Archy and Frank stick together through all of the war training exercises in Egypt and they fight together on the front at Gallipoli. Another element of mate ship is shown in the last part of the film. When the final battle of Gallipoli approaches, Archy persuades Major Barton to assign Frank as his runner because Archy knows that Frank does not have as much commitment as he does on the fighting service. Archy gets Frank a safer position and decided to sacrifice his own life for his best mate. (Gammage) Some more ideals that are glorified in the film are bravery and honor. The experiences at Gallipoli gave Australians a new identity which made them distinguishable from any other nation. At the start of the film we see that almost everyone wants to enlist in the war. Although many Australian men enlist totally naive to the dangers awaiting them, once they are in Gallipoli they fight fearlessly, with the attitude that they are doing it for their country. Anyone who is studying Australian history would do well to watch this film. The film is historically accurate which means that students can use it as a direct source of information and evidence. The fact that the film is portrayed as a dramatized story makes the many aspects of Australia and its participation of World War I much easier to understand than a any text book would. (Broadbent) The film creates a feeling of empathy which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Morality, By Joan Didion Morality in its basic definition, is the knowledge between what is right and what is wrong. In Joan Didion s essay, On Morality, she uses examples to show how morality is used to justify actions and decisions by people. She explains that morality can have a profound effect on the decisions that people chose to make. I think that morality is an idea that is different for every individual based on morals and background. In Joan Didion s piece, On Morality, she objectivity thinks that every individual has a different conception of morality. She believes that each individual has their own meaning of morality and that people use their own personal meanings to justify right versus wrong in life. I agree with Joan Didion that people determine what is considered to be moral in their own opinions. Overall, I believe that morality exists and that it is defined differently by each individual. I believe that humans collectively require morality in order to prevent chaos and that everyone defines what is right by their own personal opinion. Overall, as a society, I believe that morality is needed to draw a thin line between the right and wrong whether they are based on law or morals. In order to illustrate her point, Didion uses Klaus Fuchs and Alfred Rosenberg as examples. Fuchs was a British traitor who leaked nuclear secrets to the Soviets while Rosenberg was a Nazi administrator who was apart of the heinous and murderous acts during World War II. Didion adds the quote, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Research Report On The Red Line Essay Figure # 6 Stress is the result of both trends and events in climate (Jentsch et al. 2007). The red line indicates a shifting baseline level of forest stress through time due to an increasing trend in temperature; the grey line represents stress changes due to multi year oscillations in precipitation and temperature that are inherent in the climate system, producing stress events like extreme droughts and heat waves. Atmospheric warming increases both baseline and extreme drought stresses through time, thereby driving elevated tree mortality vulnerability. Increasing temperature alone drives greater forest drought stress (Adams et al. 2009, Williams et al. 2013), and because temperature is increasing chronically, so is forest stress. Swings in forest drought stress push forests closer (or further) from the historical mortality threshold (dashed black line), but given the chronic increase in forest stress associated with ongoing anthropogenic warming, the frequency, magnitude, and duration of these swings above the mortality threshold increase through time. If unabated, chronic warming eventually will cause even relatively wet periods to exceed the mortality stress threshold for present day forests (Allen, Breshears, McDowell, 2015). Mr. Anderegg designed a model that quantified drought stress as climatic water deficit (CWD) the difference between plant water demand, which is determined by atmospheric water demand (here, potential evapotranspiration, (PET), and plant ...
