College Degree In College Essay
A college degree is not necessary to be successful. This sentence is something my family lives by,
neither of my parents graduated from college. Even though they did not graduate from college,
they are still successful and provide me with whatever I want. My brother went to college and
never ended up finishing getting his associates. The trend in my familyis to not get a collegedegree
but still end up successful. I am going to break that trend by getting a college degree and
becoming more successful than them. They are right, you do not need a college degree to be
successful, but getting one can aid you in your success. College degrees will put you in front of
someone else that does not have one while trying to get a job. I am challenging their idea of
college and am going to be more successful than them.
My mother did not go to college at all because she was having a baby, but she now works as the
manager at Pontiac Electric Supply Company and she also works at Bernardis 2 and Pontiac Elks
Country Club. Being that she did not go to college, she has to work three jobs just so my brother
and I can have a great life. My dad attended Parkland Community College for about a year and a
half. While he was at Parkland he was playing basketball and then dropped out because he was
going to have a baby. He does not have a degree but he now works for H J Epple Construction. My
brother is 21 and has been going to school at Heartland Community College for 4 years. He works

Tan s Use Of Bottles In The Sun
Many Americans believe that their country stresses individuality, yet people are rarely seen using
umbrellas in the sun. Though the original function of an umbrella is to keep a person dry when it
rains, they also serve as sun protection. When a person uses an umbrella on a sunny day in America,
others may stare at or question the individual. Many Americans perceive tanning as positive and the
behavior as an embarrassment. Because Americans associate a tan with social status and fear
alienation, most Americans refuse to use an umbrella in the sun. For some Americans, carrying an
umbrella in the sun is ridiculous because tans are often desirable for its indications of wealth and
high social status. Americans believe that tans signify having

Movie Review Stigmata
Movie Review of Stigmata
I m not a big movie watcher, in fact when I watch a movie, I rarely finish it. However, there are
just a few that I ve got to see. These usually include comedy, but more often mystery. About two
years ago I saw a preview for the movie Stigmata. Before the previews I had never heard of stigmata
, and even after this didn t know what it was. My cousin explained what stigmata were to me, and
then I wanted to see the movie. Stigmata are defined as the plural of stigma; marks resembling the
wounds of the crucified body of Christ, said to be supernaturally impressed on the bodies of cetain
persons, especially nuns, tertiaries, and monastics (Ask.com), this making a stigmatic one who
receives these stigmata. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Probably nintey percent of the sites, that the search came up with, were useless, but by evaluating
the titles and descriptions, I avoided wasting time with sites that I knew would be any help.
Unfortunatly, there were some sites that I misinterpreted, nearly half of the ones I visited. There
were many sites that had the exact same information under different titles. There were even a few
that were described as stigmata defined, and were literaly the definition of stigmata but nothing
more. When searching I used two different searches occurences of stigmata, and stigmata. When I
used occurences of stigmata the majority of the sites had nothing at all to do with stigmata. Many
of them were about other paranormal activities. When I used stigmata in the search nearly nintey
five percent of the sites were about the movie Stigmata. It was a little frustrating having to sort
through all the useless sites to find the information that I could use.
What I learned: The first documented case of stigmata didn t surface until the thirteenth century, but
it is uncertain if stigmata is psychosmatic or if it is Divine Intervention, and the authenticity of
many cases of stigmata are questioned. Several different web sites state St. Francis of Assissi is
know as the first true case of stigmata (Stan Griffing, Workers for Jesus; Miracles vs. Forteana; Is

Analysis Of Woolf A Room Of One s Own By Virginia Woolf
1.It is significant that Woolf s essay is partly fictional, for it shows her greater knowledge of her
writing, as she was a woman herself writing fiction. She does not write completely in non fictional
mode, as to not stay biased to her views and experiences, yet to allow the readers to have an open
imagination on where the events that had happened at Oxbridge could also take place.
2. The original occasion of a A Room Of One s Own was to describe Women and what they are
like; ... women and the fiction that they write; or women and the fiction that is written about
them.(Woolf, 3). Woolf addresses women as her audience, and follows to a great extent the advices
she intend them to follow.
3.Woolf characterize Oxbridge as a material place and in terms of its traditions and conventions, by
displaying their unbendable traditions that are kept very strict to their student. In the narrating, the
300 tradition that a women should not be walking on turf was shown as an example of how
important it was to follow Oxbridge traditions. The connections between Oxbridge and British life
and institutions beyond the universities, Were the patriarchal ruling system behind them all. In all,
men had more privilege, and looked down on women.
4.Oxbridge embedded the effect that a women should always depend on a man on Woolf s semi
autobiographical character Mary Beton. As it was shown that every place she went on Oxbridge,
she was reminded that women should not do some things

The War Of 1812 And The Civil War
The Antebellum period is known as the period before the Civil War. However, it is described as
the periods between the War of 1812 and the Civil War. The word e antebellum, means before the
war, and reform, means the improvement of what is wrong. The Antebellum period made
transportation more efficient for people who traveled. The Transportation Revolution provided
several new, reliable, safe and cost effective ways to travel to different parts of the nation, including
new land in the west. The transportation Revolution changed America by new types of
transportation, economic growth, expansion, and factory system growth. Roads and canals will
shorten distances, effortless way to get somewhere, and facilitate commercial and personal
communication. The first roads in America were developed by early settlers. The National Roadwas
the first highway built entirely with federal funds. The road was authorized by Congress in
1806 during the Jefferson Administration ( The National Road par. 1). The first 10 miles of
roads were built. Wagons were slow and very difficult to use on dirt roads because of the
weather. In 1811, the federal government opened the national road connecting Cumberland,
Maryland to Ohio River. Road improvements may have made it possible for more people to live
in a specific area, because access between that area and major job location centers is facilitated by
the improved roads. Around 1821, there was around 4,000 turmpikes and private roads that

Comparing A Raisin In The Sun And Death Of A Salesman
What happens to a dream deferred? Is a question from Langston Hughes, A Dream Deferred asks
one what happens to a forgotten dream. This idea connects two well known American plays, A
Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry and Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller, in the sense
that each character has a dream deferred. A dream deferred is a forgotten dream or one that has
been left behind. The two father figures, Walter and Willy, share many comparisons such as
having a big dream reaching for success in business, leaving them behind, and their reactions.
Walter Younger and Willy Loman both have big dreams to pursue big careers in business. In A
Raisin in the Sun, Walter says You see, this little liquor store we got in mind cost seventy five
thousand and we figured the initial... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
. In A Raisin in the Sun, Bobo, one of Walter s business partners, says, Yessss! All of it... It s all
gone... Walter has just found out here that the money he gave to Willy for the liquor store was
stolen by Willy, his other business partner. The money was supposed to be deposited into a
savings account for Beneatha s school, and the rest was expected to be saved for the future. This
contributes to the idea of a dream deferred because this is where Walter finds out it is over for
him. He no longer has the ability to invest money in the business because the money is gone. This
is where Walter learns his dream is dead. Similarly, in Death of a Salesman, Howard Wagner, Willy
s boss, tells Willy, I don t want you to represent us. I ve been meaning to tell you for a long time
now. In this scene, Willy is fired from his job as a salesman because Howard believes he is too old
and tired. This contributes to the bigger picture of Willy no longer being able to pursue the dream
of being a salesman. Like Walter, Willy s dream is taken away from him and has no option but to
leave it

First Thanksgiving Essay
It is undoubted that holidays history is the point of entry to any living cultures. In specific, the
United States national holiday in November Thanksgiving reflects the country s culture of
consumerism. The first documented Thanksgiving meal in America was between the Spanish
settlers, and the Timucua tribe in La Florida in 1565 (Franklin 19). Interestingly, the main courses
were salt pork and garbanzo beans offered by the Spanish and alligator meat offered by the Native
Americans (Franklin 19). Nonetheless, most Americans associate the first Thanksgivingwith the
moment when the Pilgrims shared a three day feast with the Wampanoag in 1621 (McCabe 52).
Throughout the history, Americans have twisted the cornerstone of the Thanksgiving feast to create
new traditions.

Since wildfowls were high status foods in England , the Pilgrims unquestionably wanted them
for the feast (McCabe 52). Winslow mentioned that men were sent out to hunt wildfowls,
including goose or duck (Evans 86). Contrary to American s wide imaginations, turkeys were not
the centerpiece of the first Thanksgiving due to many reasons, such as they were hard to catch,
and the meat was tough and lean (Evans 86). There is a possibility that the Pilgrims utilized
home grown herbs and precious imported spices to season their foods (P. Baker and J. Baker
56). Nevertheless, they were more likely to boil the meats, since roasting was very laborious in
the old days (P. Baker and J. Baker 56). On the other hand, the Wampanoag killed five deer to bring
to the feast (McCabe 52). Venison is believed to be the main dish of the traditional American

Cultures are what impact and shape the structure of a civilization. They are how the traditions, and
ways of life that a civilization would adapt to. In aspect of that, the artifacts of a civilization display
the changes the changing that have occurred through time. Granted that, artifacts are ways of
preserving the cultural history of a civilization and to show respect in regards to these hidden
treasures of knowledge.
With this in mind, would preserving the artifact would include exporting any artifacts back to the
region of origin? If so, what if the government or civilization might not properly take care of the
artifacts or if the museum is not secure enough for the artifacts to be returned?
In regards of those questions, the head of the Ministry of Culture of the People s Republic of
China, Luo Shugang has requested the return of two artifacts that currently reside at the Nelson
Atkin Museum of Art in Kansas City Missouri. The two artifacts in question are a ritual disk (bi)

artifacts would be shipped and ultimately go to the Palace Museum of the Forbidden City, located

Elizabeth Barrett Browning Essay
Elizabeth Barrett Browning
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born in 1806 in County Durham, England. She was the eldest of
twelve children born to Edward Barrett Moulin Barrett and Mary Graham Clarke. Elizabeth
Barrett Browning, or Ba , grew up in her family s estate Hope End, Henfordshire. They were part of
the upper middle class, owning a successful sugar trade.
Elizabeth began writing at a very early age. When she was twelve her father had her first epic
poem The Battle of Marathon privately printed (Radley 15). She referred to this work as Pope s
Homer done over again, or rather undone (28). Her diary at this time in her life offered glimpses
into her perceptive and expressive writing style.

Elizabeth suffered from many illnesses at this time. In 1838 her Uncle Samuel Barrett died and left
her an inheritance substantial enough to provide her with living expenses. The following year her
favorite brother Samuel nicknamed Bro , drowned. Elizabeth became depressed for some time.
The 1840s saw many famous works produced by Elizabeth. Some of these include The Cry of
the Children , De Profoundest and The Dead Pan . She also published Poems. Poems contained
tributes to famous poets Elizabeth revered such as Robert Browning and Henry Wordsworth. In
1845 Elizabeth received her first letter from Robert Browning. He wrote in praise of her poetry.
They corresponded for several months, marrying in 1846. Their marriage was not welcome by her
father. Her relationship with him was never the same. The couple made their home in Florence,
Italy. In Italy, Elizabeth became interested in the country s politics. She hoped the country would
unify. She expressed this feeling in her Poems before Congress , published in 1860 (25).
In 1849, the Browning s welcomed their first and only child, Robert Wiedmeman Barrett
Browning, called Pen . A year later she produced and published Sonnets from the Portuguese, her
most famous work. The sonnets were a sequence of 44 sonnets recording the growth of her love
for Robert. He often called her my little Portuguese because of her dark complexion (Critical Poet).

Investigating And Potential Growth Of The Hormones Auxin...
Abstract
The purpose of this experiment is to assess and analyze pea plant response, and potential growth,
to the hormones Auxin and Gibberellin. Six pea seeds were used to ascertain the results, two of
which were utilized as a control group while the other four contained either Auxin or
Gibberellin, in pairs, respectively. Given ample amounts of light, non acidic soil and saturated in
water twice a week, all of the seeds were observed over a one month period and data was recorded
weekly. Results of the experiment show that only one of each pair of pea plants grew. After four

Out of the seven major kinds of plant hormones, Auxin and Gibberellin spur the most interest due to
their partnership in creating a synergic effect that enhances stem elongation (Brewer 2013). Due to
this interesting occurrence, the question arises of whether either of the hormones contributes most
to the plant s length, therefore, an experiment was created in order to analyze and draw conclusions
upon the result. Using background information, it was hypothesized that the pea plant with the
added hormone Gibberellin would grow twice as much as the pea plant with the added hormone
Auxin. Auxin, a hormone that influences stem elongation and controls the development of plant
tissue where growth occurs, is a vital chemical that shows a positive correlation with shoot growth
rate (Went 2001). According to the Journal of Experimental Botany, Auxin signaling in the shoot
has to be exactly balanced in order to stimulate cell reproduction, therefore, too much or too little of
the hormone may inhibit or halt plant progression (Gallavotti 2013). Gibberellin, or Gibberellic
Acid, also plays an important role in plant growth, specifically targeting leaf growth and stem
lengthening (Brian 2008). Studying the findings of researchers and experimenting with one s own
hypotheses leads to an expansion of not only the

The Last Of The Mohicans Analysis
The book, The Last of the Mohicans, is a very deep book. There are many genres one could label
it as, but in some opinions, including my own, the most fitting one is adventure. There are a few
reasons for this, one being that the majority of the book is adventure. And there is only a little bit
of the other genres while adventure is the most fitting one. If one were to look up adventure genre,
the would find that most of the book identifies under that category. So if one asked what genre this
book was many would say adventure.
The last of the Mohicans unequivocally has a lot of adventure in it. In one of the first chapters,
the readers are introduced to an Indian who was posing as a guide for white men. When the crew
ran into Hawk eye and the Mohicans, Hawk eye quickly informed them that their guide was going
to lead them straight into an ambush. They tried to kill the guide, but he managed to get away.
Hawk eye knew that immediately after the Indian returned to his tribe the tribe would start hunting
down the new crew. They had to flew the area and find a hiding spot. All of this was in the earlier
chapters of the book and the adventure grows as time goes on. ... Show more content on

This story has a lot of action, the charters are constantly trying to get away from the Indians or
the French. The crew is almost always in danger or risk, this makes a lot of excitement for the
reader. It is a fast paced novel, it can go from one minuet fighting to the next hiding again, this
makes it hard to anticipate what is going to happen next. There is no doubt that this novel is of the
adventure genre.
If one were to ask what genre this book would be, one would think that many people would say
adventure. This is because most of the book is adventure. The reader had barely opened the book
before Hawk eye and the Mohicans tried to capture Magua. And there is a lot of adventure while
there is only a little bit of the other genres. If one was to look up the Adventure genre they would
find that this book definitely classifies under that genre, but not as much the other ones. This book
should undoubtedly be labeled under the adventure

Design And Functionalism Of The Industrial Revolution
The industrial revolution was the transition to industrialisation and urbanisation, which took place
from the 18th to 19th centuries. Industrialisation shifted the manufacturing of goods from small
quantities using basic machinery at home, to mass production with the mechanisation of machinery.
The task of drafting a product was no longer left with the craftsmen, thus the creation of the design
profession. (Hauffe, 1998, p.11) Mass production and series production is defined as the large
quantity manufacturing of goods, using assembly line techniques and standardised designs.
Manufactured products that contributed to a high turnover use new sales methods, including
catalogs, sales representatives and advertising. In addition, the ability to create more cost effective
and accessible products. The term form follows function is the principle that the shape of an object
should be based upon its intended purpose. Modernist design and functionalism supporters assumed
two different perspectives of the term. 1. The form of an object had only suit its function without
unnecessary details. 2. The process behind manufacturing products needs to be simple and straight
forward using a metric language, produced of high quality and long lasting These assumptions
create a clear perspective of the intent to design with the clear point of focus in terms of function, to
create an object of simplification. Artistic/aesthetic the creative exploration of ideas and design

Moll Flanders As A Realist Characters
When looking at John Gass article, Moll Flanders and the Bastard Birth of Realist Character, he
approaches the conflicting question about how the audience is meant to feel about the main
protagonist, Moll, and whether we are meant to respect her or not. While heavily focusing on the
aspects of genre theory and irony, Gass argues that it is the multiple genreexpectations that give
Moll the reputation of being deep and complex, which leads to her controversial character. He uses
historical context to show how Moll can be seen as a villain, but continues to argue that it is
primarily the expectations brought on by genre theory that make people see her as a villain, based
on those certain expectations. Gass interpretation using genre theory analysis, irony, and historical
context to deeply analyze the novelstrengthen his argument that our feelings towards Moll aren t
the main argument, but instead, that Moll is a true realist character. Gass discusses Moll
Flanders and the text s complexity involving the main protagonist, Moll, questioning whether
the audience is supposed to feel she is evil and villainous, or just someone has the ability to grow
from her past as a criminal. He begins his argument by stating, in both life and literature, we tend
to think of persons as existing in excess of stereotype: as real selves that subsist apart from their
special roles and the attempts of others to define them (111). Being a woman in the 1700 s, Moll
is expected to be married to

Compare and Contrast a Technical Approach to Innovation
Innovation has traditionally been seen as technical issue concerned only with machinery and
systems. Compare and contrast this technical approach to innovation with the more knowledge
centred approaches discussed on this course. Your answer should draw upon case study evidence to
critically assess the value of the two approaches.
Innovation is a key element of modern business. In a world full of modern industrialised nations it
is essential for big business to innovate. Ed Rhodes and David Wield identify innovation as; the
implementation of new technologies (Rhodes, E, 1994, page 79) for a firm to rise above its

Today, there are intangible sciences such as the science of Management, where new theories and
innovations on how to motivate the workforce, organise strategies, market strategies and the
management of strategic core competencies have revolutionised the industry. Knowledge
innovation is creativity and logic put to strategies of how to go about doing things, opposed to
technical innovation as creativity and logic put to the research and development of a new product.
James Dyson said about innovation, It s the unlikely juxtaposition of creativity and logic which
causes the wooliness and confusion around the term innovation . (James Dyson, Ingenia, Issue 24,

Qin and Han Historical Research Paper China has had many dynasties, but there are two which

families called dynasties. Because of Qin and Han significance and impact on China, both dynasties

What Is John Steinbeck s Message In Of Mice And Men
During the early years of the Great Depression, hundreds of thousands of American workers
became out of work and began to travel across the country, in search of work, and the fabled
American Dream. John Steinbeck s novel, Of Mice and Men, a historical fiction piece, follows the
struggles of two such American workers, on their journey through the tumultuous era of the Great
Depression. However the novel s message comes from the struggles of the two main characters,
George and Lenny, and the actions they must take to overcome the obstacles in front of them.
Steinbeck s purpose for writing the novel was to express his views on the American Dream and
express his experiences through the characters he creates. The messages that Steinbeck conveys
through his novel are how impossible it truly is to achieve the American Dream, and how it is the
nature of man to prey on the weak; this message adding to the impossibility of the American dream,
men making it impossible for their fellow man to succeed.
As Steinbeck writes the novel, he imbues the story, with his own personal knowledge of the times,
as much of the fictional setting comes from his own experiences supporting himself as a laborer in
California, struggling to achieve his own American Dream. While the American Dream... Show

Judaism Vs. Christianity And Judaism

Judaism vs. Christianity Christianity and Judaism are two religions that have similarities as well as
differences. I plan to explore beliefs, religious ceremonies, and religious authorities in both
Christianity and Judaism. Judaism originates from the time of Abraham and God made a covenant
with Abraham promising him to make his ancestry a sacred people and provide them with a holy
land. Meanwhile, Christianity derives from Jesus Christ with whom the disciples were called
Christians because of their way of living which was the way of Jesus Christ. Although both Judaism
and Christians believe in God which they call Jehovah, Christians believe in the Father, ... Show

For example; people that worship demonic spirits and do devilish acts are considered demonic
spirits. On the other hand, angels are holy ones that do and have Godly actions. It is known that
Christians and Judaism have their agreements and disagreements. Christians believe that
salvation come by faith and baptismal (emerged under water in Jesus Name), Jews believe that
salvation comes from good deeds and believing in God. Both religions believe that heaven and
hell does exist, although Christians believe that Jesus Christ died for us so that we may have
eternal life. The Jews focus on the Torah which speaks of a life following this one. Judaism
believe that there is a physical place called Sheol where the individual goes down after this life.
Earlier I mentioned the process of Christians baptismal and Judaism belief in good deeds. These
are one of each religions religious ceremonies. Considering the Christian belief, they are firm
believers that you must be born again. One of the theologies of the Christians and Judaism, is the
ceremony of circumcision. Although Christians ceremonies consist of Baptismal, Holy
Communion, Marriage, Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick, just to name a few, prayer is a very
important part of the faith. It is said in the bible in I Corinthians 7:19, For neither circumcision
counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping Gods commandments.

Reasons And Causes Of The War Of Independence
REASONS AND CAUSES OF WAR OF INDEPENDENCE (1857) War of independence: War of
Independence is an important landmark in the Sub Continent history. This War was fought in
1857 against the British by Indians in order to get rid of their authority. It is also given names as
Indian Revolt as well as Indian Rebellion. The main causes of the War were social, economic,
political, military and religious. It was an extreme effort made by people of subcontinent, but they
failed due to some reasons including, disunity, mutual jealousies and lack of strong leadership etc.

facts, it is interesting to note that the leaders of the war of Independence like Bahadur Shah

The queens of Neo Assyria have long had their positions as a part of the administrations of the
royal palace neglected or overlooked. For the purpose of this assignment, I want to take a closer
look at the roles the queen and her household were responsible for in the function of the palace and,
in extension, the Empire. Comparatively, we know a lot more about the kings of the Neo Assyrian
Empirethan we do about the queens. Although the sheer amount of tablets and steles are
comparatively few in contrast with kings, there is greater significance in the select pieces of
evidence of queenship that we do have. With access to such a narrow window into lives of the

There are two very prominent examples of influential women who resided in the royal courts of
Neo Assyrian. The better known of the two is the mother of Esarhaddon, NaqД« a, or ZakЕ«tu

for her treaty of ZakЕ«tu in which she ascertained the loyalty of the empire to her grandson,
Assurbanipal. There is debate over the reason why she was granted so much influence. Sarah
Melville argues that she was purposefully given a bigger role to ensure the peaceful transition of
kingship to her grandson. In contrast, Zafira Ben Barak has pointed out that she may have only
been trying to ensure her social rank and assume any authority she could through possible
manipulation. Nevertheless, NaqД« a is an example of a great point of intrigue in this topic
because it is difficult to conclude whether she was an exception in the accepted tradition of the
queenship or if there were more like her. With approximately 177 text references of the queen and
the king s mother, I plan on investigating the political sway a queen might have in her court by
referring to the texts and other analysis of the writings by different

Why Do People Come Home In The 1950s
When I visualize the 50 s I picture a man in a suit and tie coming home from a long day s work in
his car. Then he opens the door to his home to see a perfectly clean house, his gorgeous wife, and
his two children dressed neatly in their Sunday best, but it s just a regular Tuesday evening.
Next, he will sit in his favorite chair while his better half gets him a drink and prepares a home
cooked meal. The kids have now given daddy hugs and kisses and are playing outside until mom
will ring the dinner bell. This vision does ring some truth concerning what life was like back in the

It is believed that this word was introduced to the English language because of the new way
adolescents acted. They no longer tried to be like their adult parents. Rock and Roll was a new
genre of music during this time period and loved by the youth, but dismissed by the elders of the
time. It was considered childish and immoral music, but the teenagers were rebellious and
continued to indulge themselves with the music even though their parents did not approve.
Artists like Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry were popular rock and roll musicians and brought the
genre to life making the youth fall even harder for the new sound. Now because this was the
middle of the baby boomer generation, there were a considerable amount of teenagers and this
caused a change in our culture. Many social aspects were tailored to the youths liking, such as
movies, magazines, and clothes. There was now a prevalent market for kids from the age of
thirteen to eighteen. Movies like Gidget and Teenage Rebel or the magazine 16 are examples that
illustrate how industries were trying to make films and other products tailored to the teens desires.
This was rather new in that time period and still exists today. We have whole T.V. channels, stores,
magazines, and movies that are geared toward the youth of America. Now one reason these
products were so successful was the fact that there were more parents of this generation who were

Burn Injury
Burn injury is one of the most severe forms of critical illness and is associated with long term
complications. One concern is the long term effects of burn associated metabolic abnormalities in
glucose and lipid metabolism, which lead to the high incidence of morbidity and mortality in this
patient population [1].
Children are more vulnerable than adults to the metabolic abnormalities associated with burns due
to anatomical and physiologic factors and their limited energy reserves compared with adults [2].
Severe burns are physically and psychologically catastrophic. Burned children have an elevated
resting energy expenditure, muscle weakness, and whole body catabolism, all of which are
worsened by prolonged bed rest and physical inactivity [3, 4]. Burned patients suffer from a
concomitant muscle wasting and negative nitrogen balance. The use of anabolic agents such as
recombinant human growth hormone and oxandrolone results in improved bone mineral content
and muscle strength [5].
The role of the skin in maintaining adequate serum vitamin D (VD) levels has been well
established [6]. VD, or calciferol, is a liposoluble prohormone available in two forms: VD2 and
VD3. Many studies have suggested that VD is essential for bone health because of its role in the

Pioneer HDJ-1000 Review
Pioneer HDJ 1000 Review
HDJ 1000 stand next to the heavyweights of DJ cans. But these are meant solely for DJs working
in a noisy club. If you are an audiophile, this may not be the best pick for you.
Sound Quality 7.5/10
HDJ 1000 has a specifically colored output. The mid bass are given a big enhancement at the cost
of other parts of the spectrum. The lower parts of the bass can sometimes be totally lost. Vocals
often become shrill and treble becomes very prominent.
That said, the cans do deliver what they promise. By enhancing mid bass they allow you to mix
your tracks while another track is playing loudly over the club sound system. It is the kick that
matters the most for you at that point in time.
Design 8/10
It was probably the first set of DJ cans that got the look right. As a DJ, the sound may be the most
important aspect of your work, but you also want to take pride in the equipment you own. The
prominent color schemes that HDJ 1000 introduced addressed this very well.
The fold down feature was, and still is, a great hit with the DJs. But even bigger hit is the switch
that allows you to switch to a mono output. You can have the headphone over one earand listen to
the environment sounds with the other and be sure that you are listening to the whole sound, not
just one half of it.
HDJ 1000 lets you listen in with a single ear by letting you folding one earcup up. It also lets you
twist the headband so the earcup fits behind your ear. The switch works like a

depicts the cruel brutality and inequality that African Americans faced in Jackson, Mississippi
during the early 1960 s. In the novel Stockett shows the inequality between races, how Caucasian
Americans believed they were superior, and the bigotry between social classes through the

Stockett creates this character to combat the sweetness of the character of Aibileen. Minny is
placed in this story to represent the feeling of hatred within many African Americans and the
struggle to swallow the wrongdoings just because she is told. In the Help, Minny talks back and
uses sarcasm to mask her vulnerability. She originally works for Hilly s mother but once Hilly
decides to viciously place her mother in a nursing home she demands that Minny be her maid
instead, which is directly refused. Hilly uses her high social class power and her racist feelings
to blackmail Minny. She spreads rumors to keep Minny from working anywhere but once
Minny is fed up with her shenanigans she instead bakes her a terrible awful pie . Stockett uses
the pie made of feces to target Hilly s racist belief that African Americans carry diseases. In
essence, by feeding Hilly two slices of excrement pie without her getting sick, Minny illustrates
in an extreme way the simple truth that African Americans do not carry racially specific
diseases. Once she agrees to helping Miss Skeeter Minny tells this story as a way to ensure that
they won t get caught. She uses Hilly s evil mindset to come up with the idea that if Hilly was to

Nuclear Power And Nuclear Waste
Nuclear power, the type of energy that sits on the edge of humanity s greatest hopes, and its
darkest fears. With a country such as the United States continuing to expand its industry, housing,
agriculture and commercial buildings there is a need for more and more energy each year. Nuclear
power is one of the many ways the United States gets its energy. Nevertheless, it is one of the most
controversial means of energy production. The main concern with nuclear energy is the nuclear
waste that is produced along with it. The potential health and environmental risks posed by nuclear
waste is what truly scares some of the American public. Therefore, is the amount of energy output
by nuclear powerplants outweigh the potential risks that nuclear waste can have on human health
and the environment? Nuclear power plants should be kept as a means of generating energy for
the United States, however, transportation and storage of nuclear waste needs to continuously be
checked for safer alternatives. Nuclear waste is generally defined as a variety of solids, liquids and
gases which are produced during the generation of nuclear energy through the process of fission,
mining of Uranium, nuclear research and weapons production (Shah, Abhishek). Nuclear waste
created by a nuclear power plant is not as complicated as one might think. First water is heated in
the reactor when uranium atoms split and cause fission, then the heated water is transferred to the

Audit Plan- Glaxosmithkline
Audit Plan GlaxoSmithKline (GSK)
Key business and audit risk:
In order to make the report more efficient we must identify the key areas of business risk and
auditing risk. Business risk can be defined as the risk, which could affect an organization s ability
to achieve its objectives (Gray and Manson, 2007).
Audit risk is defined as the risk that the auditor gives an inappropriate audit opinion when the
financial statements are materially misstated (Soltani, 2007). In Gray and Manson (2007) s book
Audit Risk can be split into three separate elements :
1 Inherent risk reflects the auditor s opinion on the possibility of material misstatement on financial

Firstly, misstatement via the means of non existent sales or sales which have been realised in the
incorrect period. Secondly sales may not be recorded in order to lower sales so provide evidence
in further periods of higher growth than is actually correct. Thirdly sales could be incorrectly
entered into the system providing incorrect figures. Therefore one would need to verify the sales
books, and the controls in place to prevent errors either intentional or unintentional.
Debts
The level of debt that a company holds and their ability to repay this debt is an important risk
factor for GSK. There is a higher risk for GSK than for some of its competitors, as GSK has a
higher leverage than the likes of Pfizer and J J (Financial Times, 2010). However this in itself can
in some cases be more efficient as long as the entity has the cash flow in order to repay these
debts. Therefore one has to ensure during the audit that GSK will have sufficient cash flows to meet
its repayments for the year.
Cash management
Sufficient liquid cash in a company is important to defend against economic uncertainty. A small
cash reserve/ cash flow, can be a control and detection risk, which may result profitable projects
having to be scrapped or assets sold to increase cash flow
Also one has to ensure that the book values for GSK s debtor and creditors are correct and verified
as they make up large sections of the balance sheet and a misstatement of these values would

Duality In Charles Dickens A Tale Of Two Cities
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of
foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it
was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing
before us... (Dickens, 1). These are the famous introductory lines of A Tale of Two Cities
by Charles
Dickens. They bring to mind the famous lines of the witches in Macbeth, When shall we meet
again/In thunder, lightning, or in rain? /When the hurly burly s done/When the battle s lost and
won. Both of these openings bring forth major themes in the stories: what appears to be is not
what it is. This is particularly true for A Tale of Two Cities because the main theme is duality.
Charles Dickens brought forth the theme of doubles by contrasting London and Paris in this tale
of two cities. The differences between these two cities are so important that Dickens spent the
entire first chapter laying out the similarities and differences between the two places. There
were a king with a large jaw and a queen with a plain face, on the throne of England; there were a
king with a large jaw and a queen with a fair face, on the throne of France (Dickens, 1). These
lines are just the beginning of his vivid descriptions. Dickens decided to set... Show more content on

makes Ernest Oberholtzer want to take a stand in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. For 1000 s of
years indians, white fur traders, voyageurs, travelers, miners, explorers and lumberjacks have been
using the boundary waters but it would become a problem later on. Lumberman Edward Backus
wanted to build 7 dams on the international border which upset Ober. This is the start to protecting
the BWCA. Ober testified against Backus s proposal before the international joint commission.

Ober wanted to stop Edward Backus from building dams on the us canada border. He worked
with politicians and public officials and citizen groups. The forest grew and a lot of new things
were added and new rules. Because of the water power threat the public demanded the SNN act
to be passed. The SNN act ordered the land to be retained as wilderness. This is how the BWCA
impacted us.The wilderness act, snn act and the BWCA act were put in place. In 1994 the air
space was restricted. Ober made people think more about the area. In 1930 the SNN act was
passed stopping Backus. This is what we changed. The Wilderness act, SNN act, and the BWCA
act protect the forest and keep it wilderness. The Wilderness act designated the BWCA as a unit
of wilderness preservation system. It recognizes the history and character. They made the BWCA
to help preserve that area. In 1933 MN also protected state lands. In 1394 the president s Quetico

Greek Gods and Goddesses
There were two types of Olympic Gods: Celestial Deities and Earth Deities. The Celestial Deities
dwelled on Mount Olympus while the Earth Deities resided on, or under, Earth. There were
twelve Olympic Gods; however, because the tales of these gods started out orally, the gods and
goddesses classified as Olympians are not totally clear. Because the Twelve Olympiansare not
totally clear, there are a possible fourteen gods and goddesses that could be classified as
Olympians. The gods and goddesses all had their place in Ancient Greece and were either
worshipped or hated because of their responsibilities and talents. The Greek Gods and Goddesses
all had a great influence and importance to Greek culture.

(Hades 1; Hamilton 42) Hades was viewed as a pitless, grim god; however, he was not evil. In fact,

She was a Virgin Goddess, the Fire Divinity, Goddess of the Household, and Goddess of the

Social Work Case Study
Dan Sutton is currently the general manager of Pismo Oceano Vegetable Exchange also known
as P.O.V.E. He was not just handed this job but he has worked hard in many different positions
in the agriculture industry and worked his way up to this position. Dan got into the agriculture
world at an early age when he would help his father out by working on his 5 acre kiwi farm. Dan
loved farming with his dad as a hobby and was the only boy in the family who liked the work. He
graduated with an Agricultural Business degree from Cal Poly in 2001 after 7 long years of being
a student at Poly. He worked with agriculture companies over the summers and part time during his
quarters at Cal Poly. The work was tough and he worked long hours trying to... Show more content

He oversees most of the operations of the company including overseeing the sales staff, safety
department, food safety, production, harvest crew, finances, and grower relations. He is more
involved with all aspects of the company than I thought he would be. In addition, I learned that
he spends about half of his time in the office and the other half out in the fields or working with
people in other industries of agriculture. I was surprised to find out how much interaction he has
with lower level employees and how much time he actually spends in the fields with the
product. I learned about the unpredictability and fast pace of this job as well. He stated that he
never has the same day twice and really doesn t know what he is going to do each day until he
gets his first phone call in the morning. I found this interesting because it forces you to adapt to
situations very quickly and think on your feet. I also learned that in agriculture you have to be a
price taker. This means you cannot be set on a price because competitors, changes in the market,
and quality of each harvested produce can change the price consumers are willing to pay.
Negotiating and financially doing the best things for the company are an essential part of his

  • 2. College Degree In College Essay A college degree is not necessary to be successful. This sentence is something my family lives by, neither of my parents graduated from college. Even though they did not graduate from college, they are still successful and provide me with whatever I want. My brother went to college and never ended up finishing getting his associates. The trend in my familyis to not get a collegedegree but still end up successful. I am going to break that trend by getting a college degree and becoming more successful than them. They are right, you do not need a college degree to be successful, but getting one can aid you in your success. College degrees will put you in front of someone else that does not have one while trying to get a job. I am challenging their idea of college and am going to be more successful than them. My mother did not go to college at all because she was having a baby, but she now works as the manager at Pontiac Electric Supply Company and she also works at Bernardis 2 and Pontiac Elks Country Club. Being that she did not go to college, she has to work three jobs just so my brother and I can have a great life. My dad attended Parkland Community College for about a year and a half. While he was at Parkland he was playing basketball and then dropped out because he was going to have a baby. He does not have a degree but he now works for H J Epple Construction. My brother is 21 and has been going to school at Heartland Community College for 4 years. He works full ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Tan s Use Of Bottles In The Sun Many Americans believe that their country stresses individuality, yet people are rarely seen using umbrellas in the sun. Though the original function of an umbrella is to keep a person dry when it rains, they also serve as sun protection. When a person uses an umbrella on a sunny day in America, others may stare at or question the individual. Many Americans perceive tanning as positive and the behavior as an embarrassment. Because Americans associate a tan with social status and fear alienation, most Americans refuse to use an umbrella in the sun. For some Americans, carrying an umbrella in the sun is ridiculous because tans are often desirable for its indications of wealth and high social status. Americans believe that tans signify having ... • 4. Movie Review Stigmata Movie Review of Stigmata I m not a big movie watcher, in fact when I watch a movie, I rarely finish it. However, there are just a few that I ve got to see. These usually include comedy, but more often mystery. About two years ago I saw a preview for the movie Stigmata. Before the previews I had never heard of stigmata , and even after this didn t know what it was. My cousin explained what stigmata were to me, and then I wanted to see the movie. Stigmata are defined as the plural of stigma; marks resembling the wounds of the crucified body of Christ, said to be supernaturally impressed on the bodies of cetain persons, especially nuns, tertiaries, and monastics (Ask.com), this making a stigmatic one who receives these stigmata. Probably nintey percent of the sites, that the search came up with, were useless, but by evaluating the titles and descriptions, I avoided wasting time with sites that I knew would be any help. Unfortunatly, there were some sites that I misinterpreted, nearly half of the ones I visited. There were many sites that had the exact same information under different titles. • 5. Analysis Of Woolf A Room Of One s Own By Virginia Woolf 1.It is significant that Woolf s essay is partly fictional, for it shows her greater knowledge of her writing, as she was a woman herself writing fiction. She does not write completely in non fictional mode, as to not stay biased to her views and experiences, yet to allow the readers to have an open imagination on where the events that had happened at Oxbridge could also take place. 2. The original occasion of a A Room Of One s Own was to describe Women and what they are like; ... women and the fiction that they write; or women and the fiction that is written about them.(Woolf, 3). Woolf addresses women as her audience, and follows to a great extent the advices she intend them to follow. 3.Woolf characterize Oxbridge as a material place and in terms of its traditions and conventions, by displaying their unbendable traditions that are kept very strict to their student. In the narrating, the 300 tradition that a women should not be walking on turf was shown as an example of how important it was to follow Oxbridge traditions. • 7. Comparing A Raisin In The Sun And Death Of A Salesman What happens to a dream deferred? Is a question from Langston Hughes, A Dream Deferred asks one what happens to a forgotten dream. This idea connects two well known American plays, A Raisin in the Sun, by Lorraine Hansberry and Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller, in the sense that each character has a dream deferred. A dream deferred is a forgotten dream or one that has been left behind. The two father figures, Walter and Willy, share many comparisons such as having a big dream reaching for success in business, leaving them behind, and their reactions. Walter Younger and Willy Loman both have big dreams to pursue big careers in business. Walter has just found out here that the money he gave to Willy for the liquor store was stolen by Willy, his other business partner. The money was supposed to be deposited into a savings account for Beneatha s school, and the rest was expected to be saved for the future. This contributes to the idea of a dream deferred because this is where Walter finds out it is over for him. He no longer has the ability to invest money in the business because the money is gone. This is where Walter learns his dream is dead. Similarly, in Death of a Salesman, Howard Wagner, Willy s boss, tells Willy, I don t want you to represent us. I ve been meaning to tell you for a long time now. In this scene, Willy is fired from his job as a salesman because Howard believes he is too old and tired. In specific, the United States national holiday in November Thanksgiving reflects the country s culture of consumerism. The first documented Thanksgiving meal in America was between the Spanish settlers, and the Timucua tribe in La Florida in 1565 (Franklin 19). Interestingly, the main courses were salt pork and garbanzo beans offered by the Spanish and alligator meat offered by the Native Americans (Franklin 19). Nonetheless, most Americans associate the first Thanksgivingwith the moment when the Pilgrims shared a three day feast with the Wampanoag in 1621 (McCabe 52). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to this interesting occurrence, the question arises of whether either of the hormones contributes most to the plant s length, therefore, an experiment was created in order to analyze and draw conclusions upon the result. Using background information, it was hypothesized that the pea plant with the added hormone Gibberellin would grow twice as much as the pea plant with the added hormone Auxin. Auxin, a hormone that influences stem elongation and controls the development of plant tissue where growth occurs, is a vital chemical that shows a positive correlation with shoot growth rate (Went 2001). According to the Journal of Experimental Botany, Auxin signaling in the shoot has to be exactly balanced in order to stimulate cell reproduction, therefore, too much or too little of the hormone may inhibit or halt plant progression (Gallavotti 2013). • 17. Design And Functionalism Of The Industrial Revolution The industrial revolution was the transition to industrialisation and urbanisation, which took place from the 18th to 19th centuries. Industrialisation shifted the manufacturing of goods from small quantities using basic machinery at home, to mass production with the mechanisation of machinery. The task of drafting a product was no longer left with the craftsmen, thus the creation of the design profession. (Hauffe, 1998, p.11) Mass production and series production is defined as the large quantity manufacturing of goods, using assembly line techniques and standardised designs. Manufactured products that contributed to a high turnover use new sales methods, including catalogs, sales representatives and advertising. Moll Flanders As A Realist Characters When looking at John Gass article, Moll Flanders and the Bastard Birth of Realist Character, he approaches the conflicting question about how the audience is meant to feel about the main protagonist, Moll, and whether we are meant to respect her or not. While heavily focusing on the aspects of genre theory and irony, Gass argues that it is the multiple genreexpectations that give Moll the reputation of being deep and complex, which leads to her controversial character. He uses historical context to show how Moll can be seen as a villain, but continues to argue that it is primarily the expectations brought on by genre theory that make people see her as a villain, based on those certain expectations. Gass interpretation using genre theory analysis, irony, and historical context to deeply analyze the novelstrengthen his argument that our feelings towards Moll aren t the main argument, but instead, that Moll is a true realist character. Gass discusses Moll Flanders and the text s complexity involving the main protagonist, Moll, questioning whether the audience is supposed to feel she is evil and villainous, or just someone has the ability to grow from her past as a criminal. He begins his argument by stating, in both life and literature, we tend to think of persons as existing in excess of stereotype: as real selves that subsist apart from their special roles and the attempts of others to define them (111). The Jews focus on the Torah which speaks of a life following this one. Judaism believe that there is a physical place called Sheol where the individual goes down after this life. Earlier I mentioned the process of Christians baptismal and Judaism belief in good deeds. These are one of each religions religious ceremonies. Considering the Christian belief, they are firm believers that you must be born again. One of the theologies of the Christians and Judaism, is the ceremony of circumcision. Although Christians ceremonies consist of Baptismal, Holy Communion, Marriage, Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick, just to name a few, prayer is a very important part of the faith. For the purpose of this assignment, I want to take a closer look at the roles the queen and her household were responsible for in the function of the palace and, in extension, the Empire. Comparatively, we know a lot more about the kings of the Neo Assyrian Empirethan we do about the queens. Although the sheer amount of tablets and steles are comparatively few in contrast with kings, there is greater significance in the select pieces of evidence of queenship that we do have. With access to such a narrow window into lives of the queens, it makes it all the more essential to try and put together the pieces that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are two very prominent examples of influential women who resided in the royal courts of Neo Assyrian. The better known of the two is the mother of Esarhaddon, NaqД« a, or ZakЕ«tu in Akkadian, who is probably one of the most famous women from the era. She is best known for her treaty of ZakЕ«tu in which she ascertained the loyalty of the empire to her grandson, Assurbanipal. There is debate over the reason why she was granted so much influence. Sarah Melville argues that she was purposefully given a bigger role to ensure the peaceful transition of kingship to her grandson. In contrast, Zafira Ben Barak has pointed out that she may have only been trying to ensure her social rank and assume any authority she could through possible manipulation. Nevertheless, NaqД« a is an example of a great point of intrigue in this topic because it is difficult to conclude whether she was an exception in the accepted tradition of the queenship or if there were more like her. With approximately 177 text references of the queen and the king s mother, I plan on investigating the political sway a queen might have in her court by referring to the texts and other analysis of the writings by different ... It was considered childish and immoral music, but the teenagers were rebellious and continued to indulge themselves with the music even though their parents did not approve. Artists like Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry were popular rock and roll musicians and brought the genre to life making the youth fall even harder for the new sound. One concern is the long term effects of burn associated metabolic abnormalities in glucose and lipid metabolism, which lead to the high incidence of morbidity and mortality in this patient population [1]. Children are more vulnerable than adults to the metabolic abnormalities associated with burns due to anatomical and physiologic factors and their limited energy reserves compared with adults [2]. Severe burns are physically and psychologically catastrophic. Burned children have an elevated resting energy expenditure, muscle weakness, and whole body catabolism, all of which are worsened by prolonged bed rest and physical inactivity [3, 4]. Burned patients suffer from a concomitant muscle wasting and negative nitrogen balance. The use of anabolic agents such as recombinant human growth hormone and oxandrolone results in improved bone mineral content and muscle strength [5]. The role of the skin in maintaining adequate serum vitamin D (VD) levels has been well established [6]. VD, or calciferol, is a liposoluble prohormone available in two forms: VD2 and VD3. The mid bass are given a big enhancement at the cost of other parts of the spectrum. The lower parts of the bass can sometimes be totally lost. Vocals often become shrill and treble becomes very prominent. That said, the cans do deliver what they promise. By enhancing mid bass they allow you to mix your tracks while another track is playing loudly over the club sound system. It is the kick that matters the most for you at that point in time. Design 8/10 It was probably the first set of DJ cans that got the look right. With a country such as the United States continuing to expand its industry, housing, agriculture and commercial buildings there is a need for more and more energy each year. Nuclear power is one of the many ways the United States gets its energy. Nevertheless, it is one of the most controversial means of energy production. The main concern with nuclear energy is the nuclear waste that is produced along with it. The potential health and environmental risks posed by nuclear waste is what truly scares some of the American public. Therefore, is the amount of energy output by nuclear powerplants outweigh the potential risks that nuclear waste can have on human health and the environment? Nuclear power plants should be kept as a means of generating energy for the United States, however, transportation and storage of nuclear waste needs to continuously be checked for safer alternatives. Nuclear waste is generally defined as a variety of solids, liquids and gases which are produced during the generation of nuclear energy through the process of fission, mining of Uranium, nuclear research and weapons production (Shah, Abhishek). Both of these openings bring forth major themes in the stories: what appears to be is not what it is. This is particularly true for A Tale of Two Cities because the main theme is duality. Charles Dickens brought forth the theme of doubles by contrasting London and Paris in this tale of two cities. The differences between these two cities are so important that Dickens spent the entire first chapter laying out the similarities and differences between the two places.
