On Monday, November 20, 2017, at 7:30 am I observed twelve children in a classroom environment.
This daycare is a local daycare in my hometown, Bryan, TX. During this visit, I learned a lot of new
information, how and why children communicate. The classroom consisted of about twelve young
boys and girls ranging from the ages of two years old through five years old. This classroom was not
diverse. There were only ten African Americans, and two of the children were mixed with African

As there were many poems to choose, this poem analysis is To a Daughter Leaving Home by Linda
Pastan. Linda Pastan s poems usually talks about families and the relationship between family
members. This poem talks from the mom perspective, who remembers many memory of teaching her
daughter how to ride a bicycle. From reading the whole poem, it seems to talk about how a mother
saw her daughter grew up. The poet used good amount of metaphor using bicycle as a path of life.

starts with, When I taught you at eight to ride a bicycle, meaning her mom started to teach her about

ASAP has led the way for many alcohol programs to follow including many citizen organized
programs. Programs such as Remove Intoxicated Drivers (RID) in 1978 and Mothers Against Drunk
Driving (MADD) in 1980. These programs were created by people personally affected by a accident
caused by drunk driving. Their focus is to prevent the loss of loved ones for other families. These
programs educate the public on the risks of DUI and promote safer driving and smarter choices.
MADD has even received support from alcohol companies because of their focus on the offender, and
not blaming the alcohol companies. Alcohol related highway fatalities in 1982 were at 57% of all
fatalities. This number dropped to only 38% by 1999.
In 2005 vehicle crashes were a leading cause of injury and death for children over the age of one. 510
children 3 years or younger were killed in a highway accidents in 2005.Proper restraint for children
must be used until they have reached the recommend height. Child restraint systems for children help
to reduce serious injury by up to 70% in an accident. (Anderson Rice, 2009) Simply restraining the
child with a seatbelt though is not enough. For children under the age of 5, child safety seats are far

Racial Barriers In Baseball
Introduction Over the first few decades after the breaking of the racial barrier in baseball by Jackie
Robinson the number of African American in professional baseball stayed on a rise, unfortunately the
numbers over the most recent decades have been going the opposite direction. The color barrier was
broken in Major League Baseball (MLB) by Robinson on April 15, 1947 when he was called to play
for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson broke way for African Americans in baseball and they took
advantage of it as the number increased every year after. The purpose of this study is to find out why
the percentage of African Americans playing in the MLB has been on a steady decline the past few
decades. This percentage is dropping every year and there does not seem to be much of a change in the
future. While the numbers of African American professionals are much higher in football and
basketball and not at risk of dropping soon, what is it that is making baseballs number slowly
diminish. In this research I will examine numbers that have been put together and analyze interviews
that were performed with some professionals as well as highly accredited sports journalist. Although I
will focus on professional baseball I will also provide some insight on youth baseball to see what the
future may hold as far as the possibility of another increase in the percentage of African Americans in
the pros. As the years gone on there has also been an increase in latin baseball players throughout
professional baseball, as well as a decrease in whites. Some questions regarding the topic are what is
causing the decline in the percentage? What initiative is being taken by Major League Baseball to help
try to increase the percentages? What is significant about baseball compared to other sports (football,
basketball) that makes them different and less attractive to African American youth?

descibed as an indiviual s tendency to follow the unspoken rules or behaviours of the social group to
which he/she belongs to or wants to be apart of. Many psychologists including , Jenness (1932), Sherif
(1935) both experimented in psychology, investigating conformity and group pressure. However,
perhaps the most famous conformity experiment was done by Solomon Asch (1951) and his line
judgment experiment. (McLeod 2007) Solomon Asch was a psychologist that conduced numerous
expirments designed to illustrate the increasing conformity within social groups. The experiments also
invesigated the effect the number of people present within the group had one the conformity rate. Asch
hypothesized, that the majority of the people would not conform to something obviosly wrong;
however, when surrounded by (other) individuals all voicing an incorrect answer, 75% of them(the
participant) will conform to the groups answer (Watzlawick 1976) In the experiment solomon had two
boards; one showing three lines of different lengths ( boardA) and another with one line( board B).

In regards to cognitive psychology and the ways in which we define ourselves in terms of individuals,
is one of the biggest areas of interest. The area defines the process used in order to acquire, receive,
retain and store the information in which is received. During childhood our memory grows, and
through adulthood throughout until our middle age, where shortly after we begin to decline in
productivity. Initially, when a person grows and changes, their brain begins to change and their
cognitive functions worsen. One example being the way in which we appropriately word and express
things, begins to decline in fluency and accuracy. (American psychological association, 2006). Studies
have shown that the semantic and procedural memory declines the least, while that flashbulb memory
declines the most. The amount of large declination varies due to middle age sensitivity and the lack of
self efficiency. The memory initially declines based not on the lack of storage, but merely how they
retain and store that information which is being received. Naturally, this happens because the cortex
shrinks, leaving a serious lack of blood flow to the brain, and triggers that loss, which is naturally all
apart of the aging process. Some natural signs of normal age related memory loss can include the
occasional forgetfulness of where we placed something

The understanding of the immigration issue is to focus on the problem entirely on the immigrants and
the administrative agencies charged with overseeing immigration law. The reason is that these are the
only roles present in the Immigration Problem Frame. As a humanitarian crisis, the solution could
involve The UN or the Organization of American States. Framing this as just an immigration problem
prevents them from penetrating deeper into the issue. The current situation can also be seen as civil
rights problem. Immigrants are assimilated into the American system, but are forced to live
underground and in the shadows because of their legal status. They are denied ordinary civil rights.
The immigration problem framing overlooks their basic human dignity. In conclusion the immigration
