Ben Bernanke s Policy Analysis
Ben Bernanke served as Chairman of the Federal Reserve from February 21st, 2006 until
January 31st, 2014. Before his appointment as Chair, he served as a Member of the Board of
Governors from August 5th, 2002 until June 21st, 2005. During his tenure at the Federal Reserve,
Bernanke had spearheaded policy changes to fight against the adverse economic events that were
affecting the US economy. Under his leadership, the Fed reduced interest rates to near zero levels
and bought trillions of dollars worth of securities. Where these the right moves to make? Prior to
Bernanke s appointment as Chair, the US economy was experiencing a boom in the housing
market. Interest rates were low and credit standards were lowered to capitalize on subprime
mortgages.

The Millennial Side Hustle Analysis
In today s world, the post secondary program you choose will be the pathway to your future
career as it is suggested by society, but is university really a guarantee pathway to the career/job
you wish to have? The article The millennial side hustle, not stable job, is the new reality for
universitygrads by CBC News, talks about how students who have recently graduated face
problem unemployment and unstable employment. The aspect of the article that really appeals to
me is the story of Christian McCrave since he has studied the same program as I wish to.
Christian is a 21 year old who had recently graduated from the University of Guelph with a
mechanical engineering degree. He had thought he was going to get the jobs he wanted. McCrave

Social Security Issue Analysis
Discussion Week #12
Social Security is one of the largest domestic federal programs with the largest source of income
for most retirees, and is relied by the most vulnerable people of society. However, the program is
financially unstable for the upcoming decades to come. Estimates show that Social Security will
be to pay Americans full benefits for the next 20 years, but after 20 years, future generations
could be in trouble, and Social Security will not be able to provide benefits towards the
American people. Specifically, according to a news article by, National Affairs, written by,
Andrew Biggs, A New Vision for Social Security , It is therefore incumbent upon today s
policymakers to address Social Security s fiscal problems and to ensure ... Show more content on

However, some suggest that increasing the retirement age will close Social Security s funding gap.
The reason in need to change the retirement age is because Americans over the years have been
able to live longer, which essentially means that Social Security benefits are given to a person
much longer as well. From an article by the AARP commission, or American Association of
Retired Persons, written by, Romina Boccia, and Virgina Reno, Updating Social Security for the
21st Century: 12 Proposals You Should Know About , ...Americans continue to live longer from
one generation to the next, individuals will, on average, receive Social Security benefits for a
longer time. The trend contributes to Social Security s funding gap... Back in 1935, a 65 year
old men ranged to spend approximately 12 years in retirement benefits in contrast in modern
times where average 65 year old men can spend up to 18 years worth of retirement benefits. A
scenario of starting in 2023, the retirement age would increase every two months each year until
68 years old in 2028. By doing so, the funding gap would close to 16 percent. The earliest age to
begin claiming retirement benefits is 62 years old, however, potentially that number can
increase as well. With that said, another way is to gradually raise both retirement age and early
eligibility age. If to begin in 2023 as well, the earliest age to claim full retirement benefits would
increase from the current 62 years old to 65 years old. Unlike increasing the retirement age, by
changing the earliest age to claim Social Security, the funding gap would close 26 percent. Both
concepts are to reflect American s longer life spans, and is ideally fair to Americans, and in
addition, improves Social Security s

Why Did Judge Hall Choose John Jameson for Celia’s...
Why did Judge Hall choose John Jameson for Celia s defense? Given the impact of the slavery
issue upon Missouri s politics at the time, the Judge Hall hoped for the trail to be conducted as
expeditiously and decorously as possible, in a manner that ran the least risk of arousing the ire
of either camp. Judge Hall needed a capable attorney, one of considerable standing in the
community. He needed an attorney with proven political sensibilities, one who had not
participated significantly in the slavery debates. In short, he needed an attorney who could be
depended upon to give Celia a credible defense, one whose presence would make it difficult for
slavery s critics to label the trial a farce or sham and one who would not arouse the... Show more

Hardly more than a month following Lincoln s victory came declarations of secession by South
Carolina and other states, which were rejected as illegal by outgoing President James Buchanan
and President elect Lincoln. The election of Lincoln in November 1860 was the final trigger for
secession.[74] Efforts at compromise, including the Corwin Amendment and the Crittenden
Compromise , failed. Southern leaders feared that Lincoln would stop the expansion of slavery
and put it on a course toward extinction. The slave states, which had already become a minority in
the House of Representatives, were now facing a future as a perpetual minority in the Senate and
Electoral College against an increasingly powerful North. Before Lincoln took office in March
1861, seven slave states had declared their secession and joined together to form the Confederacy.
1. West expansion 2. State rights 3. Economics 4. Irrepressible conflict 5. Slavery Causes of
secession The Abolitionist movement in the United States had roots in the Declaration of
Independence. Slavery was banned in the Northwest Territory with the Northwest Ordinance of
1787. By 1804 all the Northern states had passed laws to gradually abolish slavery. Congress
banned the African slave trade in 1808, although slavery grew in new states in the deep south. The

The Organizational Structure Of The Walt Disney Company
The Walt Disney Company is considered to be one of the most active family entertainment
companies in the world. Primarily Disney became known as an animated film company and a
cartoon creator. Later, the company expanded its range of activities into other markets through the
Disney stores and theme parks around the world. The Walt DisneyCompany s key objective is to be
the world s premier family entertainment company through the ongoing development of its
powerful brand and character franchises.
An organizational design of the Walt Disney Company has a horizontal structure. It is seen in the
departmentalization or subdividing into smaller units. The company is currently organized with
certain key companies all brand names dominating each division. The business departments of
Disney Company are then grouped according to the product and this is a good example of a
divisional approach (Mannheim, 2017). Although each division assigns their executive officers

effectiveness. Under the structural frame, the Walt Disney Company achieves significant goals in

company, as there is a Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. The leader of the company values
analysis and data, keeps his eye on the bottom line, sets clear directions, holds people accountable
for results, and tries to solve organizational problems with new policies and rules or through
restructuring (Bolman Deal, 1991). From this structure, it is evident that power flows from the

The Trials From World War II, South Africa
No one possesses a magic wand which the architects of the new dispensation could wave and, Hey
presto! things will be transformed overnight into a promised land flowing with milk and honey
(Tutu 3). After the apartheid, South Africa needed a way to reconcile the wrong that had taken
place throughout the country. Instead of modeling the Nuremberg Trials from World War II, South
Africaimplemented Truth and Reconciliation Commissions (TRC). This process guarantees pardon
for any confess crime associated with a political objective (Ruden 2). Desmond Tutu, the archbishop
of the Anglican Church in South Africa, praises and advocates the TRC; whereas, Sarah Ruden, an
American living in South Africa, criticizes the RTC process based on two main objective points.
Ruden sees the RTC process as not enforcing the laws as well as not giving victims enough
reparations. While Ruden does present logistical evidence in her negative assessment of the TRC
process, Tutu presents a more convincing assessment of the TRC process since he disputes using a
trial system, while also explaining why economically and socially the TRC process was a
successful solution to the post apartheid society in South Africa.
Initially, Tutu begins his assessment by effectively dismantling the idea that putting perpetrators
from the apartheid area on trial would have been a viable solution. Tutu theorizes that the security
forces of the apartheid regime would not have supported the negotiated

The Challenges Of Veterans With Disabilities
This research paper will discuss the challenges and opportunities that veterans with disabilities
encounter when transitioning from the Military into the civilian workplace. Currently, there are
more than 6 million veterans in the United States with a disability. A veteran is defined as a person
who has served or is serving in the United States Armed Forces. While reintegrating the veterans
back into the workplace, veterans with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD), and Physical
Disabilities will be one of the greatest challenges that any agency will encounter. This will require
that organizations prepare and implement procedures to make special accommodations to assist the
Veteranwhile following the federally mandated guidelines. Moreover, this will allow
organizations to employee and empower America s bravest men and women; hiring a veteran
brings valuable skills and knowledge into the workplace. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder is defined
as a debilitating psychological condition triggered by a major event such as war, a terrorist act, or
a catastrophic event. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs there are over 2.3 million
American Veterans of the Irag and Afghanistan wars, with at least 20 % of them having a
documented case of PTSD. Additionally, it is presumed that about 50% of the Veterans who
actually have PTSD do not seek treatment. Statistics show that of the 61% of men who experience
trauma only 8% actually develop PTSD, versus the 51% of woman who

Women s Role In The Bible Research Paper
Women played an important role in every aspect of our lives. Women are the moms, teachers,
doctor ..etc. Many years ago women could not be a priest or a minister in churches, men were
the only people who were allowed to serve in such places. Women are only allowed to be an
internal spiritual or religious experience, but are often denied leadership roles or roles that foster
any form of externalization of their faith . As our guest speaker Nan said, they think women
should stay in the house with their children. They also believe their voices are not loud enough for
everyone to understand what they are saying. Some people would even interpret the Bible the way
they choose and say the Bible states, women should not be in leadership roles in the

Analysis Of The Book Eight Hearts Essay
Eight Hearts, All In a Row
The bus drops Randy off next to an ice cream stand he used to buy neapolitan cones from in the
summer. He s surprised it still exists, the stand now covered in a tarp, looking to survive the
New York winter. 1818 Cheshire Street stands less than a block away, and he walks slowly,
clutching his brown paper bag, trying to avoid slipping on the ice. When he was younger, a
winter night meant sledding with the other kids in the neighborhood while lights illuminated up
the inside of brightly painted houses. He, a stranger now, tiptoes through dead silence and
boarded up windows, trying to see from the glow of flickering streetlamps. No colorful bulbs
twinkled from roofs, no wreaths guarded welcoming doors, and no hot chocolate wafted through
window cracks. Now, the memory of gingerbread men leaves an acidic taste in his mouth. His
childhood home is one of the few in the neighborhood that hadn t been abandoned after the
incident. When families fled, fluidly like a stream of grief and fear, his father had stood his ground
at the house he bought for his family years ago. Almost nobody wanted to move into abandoned
perfectly painted houses, polished with vibrant hydrangea bushes and stained with ink black
tragedy. The property value had plunged like a bird shot from the sky, and the area was now a
ghost town. As Randy makes his way down the sidewalk, 1818 Cheshire Street looms in front of
him. This house where he went from youngest child to middle

Intracellular Fluid Essay
Intracellular fluid (ICF) is liquid found inside the cell (separated into compartments by
membranes) and extracellular fluid (ECF) is all of the body fluid outside of the cell. ECF contains
interstitial fluid (found in the lymph, cerebrospinal fluid, glomerular filtrate of the kidneys) and
plasma (found in the circulatory system). Sodium accounts for 90% of the ECF cations (positively
charged ions) and regulates osmotic forces, therefore, regulates water balance (McCance Huether,
2014, p. 108). Regulation of sodium balance is facilitated by aldosterone, which is triggered by the
renin angiotensin mechanism. Potassium is the major intracellular electrolyte found in most body

How would you determine whether she has cystitis or pyelonephritis?
a.Differentiate between cystitis and pyelonephritis. Consider history, possible presenting
symptoms, and urinalysis results.
Cystitis is inflammation of the bladder (lower urinary tract) and is the most common site of UTI
(McCance Huether, 2014, p. 1350). E. coli is the most common pathogen of UTI s and occurs more
common in women due to the shorter urethra and the proximity of the urethra to the vagina and
anus. The patient can be asymptomatic or experience urinary frequency, urgency, and discomfort.
The presence of white cells in the urinalysis is indicative of infection and the urine culture can
identify the bacteria.
Pyelonephritis is a type of urinary tract infection that affects one or both kidneys (upper urinary
tract) ( Pyelonephritis, 2012, p. 1). Bacteria (commonly caused by E. coli.) enters from the lower
urinary tract and can lead to renal scarring. Symptoms of pyelonephritis may include a fever with
pain in the lower back or abdominal area. Hematuria and vomiting can also occur. Diagnosis
includes blood test and urinalysis with culture, but may involve imaging studies to detect renal
abnormalities or

Captain Toad Essay
The bite sized Captain Toad stages in Super Mario 3D World were a wonderful side dish,
offering a very different type of challenge from the rest of the game. Little did we know at the
time that the compact, puzzle like levels would eventually find new life in a full fledged game,
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. Now, Captain Toad
and Toadette, his partner in plunder, have hit
the road on a quest of their own, and it s one of the most charming and enjoyable games to grace
the Wii U. The two tiny explorers squawk and trot to all corners of the MushroomKingdom in
search of golden treasure, and occasionally to rescue each other from danger. While it has a
gleeful exterior, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker s also a deceptively challenging romp, especially
if you attempt to uncover all of the games hidden items.
The Toads outing is distinct from other adventures in the Mario universe for many reasons, but one
in particular stands out: their abilities are pared down to the basics. They can t jump, and they don

Menander, Plautus and Terence are playwrights who are recognized for their unique depictions of
slave stock characters. Plautus and Terence from Rome and Menander from Greece, were all part
of new comedy, which was mainly characterized by communal issues and family relationships in
comparison to old comedywhich disregarded slavery and focused on political and philosophical
criticism. Thus, the innovative focus of new comedy gave insight into Greek and Roman slave
cultures through the actions and portrayal of slave characters. However, it is often debated whether
or not these playwrights truly portrayed slavery within their comedies, due to their comedic
exaggerations. Although, these playwrights did introduce some distortion with the portrayal... Show

In the play The Grouch, the degree to which punishment is enforced appears to be dependent on
the characterization of the master. For instance, when Daos is asked to approach Knemon s house,
a nasty grouch, he fearfully states, If he catches me coming up his door, hell hang me on the spot
(O Bryhim, 119). Yet, Gorgios character, a poor citizen, hardly demonstrates any form of physical
and verbal infliction upon the same slave (Daos), besides reaffirming that Knemon has the right to
strike, he affirms, Against force he has the law (119). In other words, Gorgios lack of punishment,
yet awareness of authority, highlights a different Greek slave owning citizen. One who he kept his
integrity through his mindfulness of power, but considered his slave to be part of the household. In
addition, Sostratos is another character whose ideal of punishment is reflected by his
characterization. Although, Sostratos is a decent young man, his wealthy background immediately
implies he is spoiled (Tordoff and Akrigg, 154). His treatment of Pyrrhias differs from that of
Gorgias in the way he automatically assumes that s Pyrrhias has done something wrong for
Knemon to have inflicted punishment. This is seen in the following

condition limiting function that caused an athlete to seek medical care by a trainer or physician,
caused a practice or match to be discontinued, and resulted in lost time from athletic participation
for 1 or more days (Pasque). It is not uncommon to hear of a player pulling a muscle, tearing their

There is a reason these are more common in contact sports other than non contact sports. Some of
the most common injury mechanisms were tackling, running, being tackled, twisting, turning,
jumping and landing (Wong). Each of these movements are exactly what football players and
wrestlers have to do. Football players are all the time getting hit from behind or even hit from the
side knocking them unconscious. Most of the time the lower extremities are often injured during
tackling as players cannot respond quickly enough to avoid such rapid and unpredictable
movements (Wong). Also the age range and gender does not play a factor. It would be more
common in males in a way just because football and wrestling are a more male dominant sport.
Rules for the sports are changing to try and prevent/decrease the amount of injuries in both sports.

12 weeks prior to the first competition date (Powers 2012). This part of the season is to increase
energy systems used in this particular sport to their maximum potential. With my softball team in a
pre season session, I would start with weight training and running to increase each individual
player s strength and endurance. Strength and endurance training should be done on alternating
days to optimize strength gains but can be done together depending on what the coach is trying
to accomplish. According to Powers, if these two types of training are done together, there may
be a lower gain in strength than with only strength training itself. Things that I would like to do
for endurance with softball players would be home to outfield sprints with walk back recoveries
about 8 to 10 times with 3 sets of high knee drills for 20

Advabtage and Disadvantage of Branding
1.Introduction
Everyone from countries to political parties to individuals in organisations is now encouraged to
think of themselves as a brand, in which have seen the obvious success of the brand concept in
past years (Geoffrey R., 1997). Why the brand is significant? And what make the brands so
attractive and successful? This article will explore the role of the brand and critically analyse the
advantages and disadvantages of branding.
2.Brands and Branding
Some analysts see brand as the promise of something. That something is intangible, but it could be
a guarantee of quality, a sense of prestige, or of heritage. Everything the customer experiences in
the process of evaluation, trial, purchase, and adoption is a verification of ... Show more content on

When someone goes shopping at Morrison for example, strong brand names make it easier for the
customer to locate and identify the suitable product needed. It promises and delivers high level of
assurance to consumers. Branding may also enhance the customer s experience aesthetically and
psychologically (Melissa Davis, 2005); through branding, consumers can form some sort of
attitudes and feelings towards the product. This builds brand loyalty towards the brand by the
consumer, which assists decision making by building trust, familiarity and assurance of a certain
standard. It is the way of expression of individual s personality and what they stand for. To some
extent it meets the aspirations of customers as well. That is why people regularly ask for a Coke
rather than a cola. Furthermore, Branding increases the innovation potential of manufacturers, and
leading to more variety and consumer choice.
From a manufacturer s perspective, branding has distinct advantages in many ways. By observing
the brand equity and benefits of branding listed in Table 2, the main interest of branding to a
manufacturer is that it builds a high brand loyalty; in turn generate higher and more stable sales
and profits. High brand loyalty can help the consumer to overcome any price change of the
product. In recent years, Nike and Sony have been able to establish

The Use of Force
The Use of Force The point of view in the story The Use of Force is in first person narrative. This
conveys inner the inner thoughts of the narrator as the doctor. The doctor is a reliable narrator
and an observer. I feel that his personality is brought out in the doctor. So the doctors thoughts
and behaviors are a reflection of the authors. As for the setting it takes place at a family s home.
I think it takes place somewhere in the early 1900 s. I think it would make a difference to the story
if it were set somewhere else, only because if the sick girlwas brought to like a hospital for

So it didn t effect the point of the story. Something that really puzzled me in the story was when
the first old lady ran after Marian in the hall and sort of grabbed her by her hair and asked her for
a penny. I didn t understand that point and I don t think it made much sense to the story. The
conflict in the story is when Marian actually goes into the old women s room. The conflict isn t
very clear, but its very obvious there is a problem. The first old women is very outgoing, and the
second old women, is angry, and bitter. So there s a bit of clashing going on with them and it
shows when they spoke to each other. The events that led up to the plot are Marian going into
the Old women s home, being in the room and communicating with them til finally she gets so
scared she runs out. The theme of this story is also irony. Everything in the story conveyed the
theme irony, only because everything seemed like the opposite of what it should have been. For
instance when Marian goes to the old women s home for charity. The purpose of charity is to
help people who cant help themselves, or to do something nice for someone. In the story, Marian
isn t doing it to be helpful, she is only visiting the old women for extra points for her campfire
girls. Another example of the irony was the old women constantly disagreed or contradicted each
other. One old women was overly optimistic and ignorant of Addies constant negativity and
rudeness towards her. You would expect

Hazel As A Leader In Watership Down By Richard Adams
In the book Watership Down by Richard Adams, Hazel proves in many ways that he is a leader.
Being a leader means having confidence, bravery, being trusted and worthiness. Everyday Hazel
shows that he is smart and confident by leading the rabbits to a new place to find food or a new
shelter. In the book Watership Downa few rabbits from the sandleford warren go on a mission
because Fiver, the smallest rabbit in the warren, says he can sense that something bad is coming.
Hazel believes Fiver and they go to find a new warren. While they are looking for a new warren
they come across the efrafa, (another warren of rabbits that is not liked very much) and a few more
rabbits who end up joining them. Hazel is the main character, he is strong and confident.... Show

He is also always up for a risk even if it means that he is risking himself but he will not let others
get harmed or left behind. He is always going to be confident by going someplace where he
doesn t know what he is going to find. They left the original warren because Fiver says he can
see into the future, he says something bad is going to happen soon so a couple of the rabbits
leave and they gather more rabbits along the way. Fiver and I will be leaving the warren tonight,
he said deliberately. I don t know exactly where we shall go, but we ll take anyone who is willing
to come with us (page 14). Hazel is strong and brave and is willing to go anywhere to help his
friends from not being harmed by anything that they may come across. Being brave really helps
the leader be a better leader than they already are because they are confident enough to do what
is needed although it may scare them. Although Hazel got injured because of the men that came
to kill and hurt the rabbits, he still powered through the pain and was a great leader even while
he was hurt. Hazel was strong even when he go hurt from running away from the men and
falling into a hole that he couldn t get out of. When Hazel was missing because he was in the
woods and injured his friends were looking for him because they need him around for them to be
safe. Hazel is great at doing what is needed like finding food to survive and helping others get
where they need to be. Hazel is always super supportive, for example when they were at the new
warren one day the went outside and they found an injured bird and Hazel demanded that they help
him and make him get better. Hazel told all of the other rabbits to find food for the bird Kehaar. I
believe it s starving, said Hazel. We d better feed it. Bigwig, go and get some worms or something.

Introduced Species In Australia
An introduced species is a species that has arrived a new habitat, outside of its native distributional
range, by human activity. However, an introduced species can sometimes pose very serious
problems to the local ecosystem and require a lot of work and money to manage the issue. This
report focus on two main introduced species, the feral water buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) and the
European red foxes (vulpes vulpes) which are both introduced into Australia in the 19th century.
The consequences of the introduction of these species and the way of management and recovery of

Since the water buffaloes has caused such dramatic effect on the ecosystem and also spread the
disease in Kakadu national part, a extensive eradication program called Brucellosis and
Tuberculosis Eradication Campaign (BTEC) was initiated to reduce the population of water
buffaloes (Jesser et al. 2008). This program was performed by aerial shooting from the
helicopter. By then end of 1997, the number of water buffaloes has reduced from around 20000 to
only a few hundred left in the Kakadu National Park. This sudden decline in water buffaloes
numbers caused significant changes in vegetation ground cover and biomass (Petty et al. 2007).
However, weed (Mimosa pigra) control and ongoing removal of buffaloes were required to
rehabilitate the original ecosystem (Findlayson et al. 1997). The impact of buffaloes on ground
level vegetation and soils in Kakadu National Park has indirectly changed the living pattern such as
the competitive relationships between plants and animals, which, in turn, further altered the overall
ecological structure of Kakadu. Thus, it was not enough to revert the habitat to its previous state by
simply removing the buffaloes. According to Petty and his colleagues work in 2007, The impact of

Roman Catholic Influence On Brazil
The Roman Catholic faith was brought to Brazil in the New World with the country s rediscovery
by the Portuguese, namely Pedro Alvares Cabral on April 23rd, 1500 (Skidmore 5). Although the
Portuguese were already religiously affiliated with Catholicism, in 1552 it began to be practiced
regularly when the first bishopsettled in Brazil. Prior to this, monks had attempted to cater to the
spiritual needs of the migrants (Skidmore 25). The presence of the Jesuits resulted in a stronger
spiritual authority as they monopolised the education and social system that existed with respect to
the indigenous peoples (Skidmore 26). As of 2010, Brazil has had the most Catholics in its

Research Paper On Down Syndrome
Down Syndrome
They used to be called Mongoloids, an ethnic insult coined by John Langdon Down, an English
physician during the nineteenth century. But now they are known as people, individuals with a
condition known as Down syndrome. (3). It wasn t until the 1960s that Jerome Lejeune and Patricia
Jacobs discovered the cause of Down syndrome (also called trisomy 21). But with technological
advancements within the scientific community, more and more information has been gathered
about the condition that affects about one in every one thousand children born around the world. (4).
Research shows that Down syndrome is a genetic condition caused by certain chromosomal
abnormalities. Chromosomes within cells are composed of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is where the name trisomy 21 originates. (5).
The extra chromosome in trisomy 21 results in overexpression of the genes. Although
overexpression is not noticeable in many genes, the genes that are involved in Down syndrome
seem to be quite different. In fact, not even all of the genes in the 21st chromosome need to be
tripled to result in Down syndrome. There are approximately 250 genes in the 21st chromosome,
and only 20 to 50 genes need to be involved in the nondisjunction to cause the effects of trisomy
21. The small area within the cell where genes need to be to cause Down syndrome is called the
Critical Region. (3).
There are several genes that researchers believe might be involved in causing Down syndrome.
Overexpression in genes such as CAF1A, Cystathione Beta Synthase (CBS), and GART might be
harmful to DNA synthesis and repair. COL6A1 overexpression may cause heart defects, and
CRYA1 overexpression might aid in the development of cataracts. Overexpression of ETS2 may be
the cause of leukemia and skeletal abnormalities, while the DRYK overexpression could possibly
result in mental retardation. Premature aging and decreased function of the immune system may be
caused by the overexpression of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD1). It is important to note, however,
that despite many hypotheses and speculations, no gene has been conclusively linked to

Essay on Art History
In the early 1700s, the monarchies failures at finance, national debt, involvement in multiple wars
with little care given to veterans and rising unemployment inflamed the people. When coupled with
the monarchies lifestyles of lavish spending on countless mistresses, flouting morals, excessive
parties at court, and political favors, the popularity of royalty was quickly disintegrating. The
irresponsibility of the aristocracy was no longer ignored, and a movement was beginning. This set
the stage for political change.
Writers such as Thomas Hobbes (1588 1679) and John Locke (1632 1704) of England experienced
these changes and began exploring the ideals of republicanism and liberalism through their writing.

It did not take long for the ideas to spread through Germany, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Spain,
Portugal, and the American Colonies. The American Revolution began in 1775, and Thomas Paine
wrote Common Sense in January of 1776. Voltaire who had written thousands of letters, books, and
pamphlets finished his Dictionnaire Philosophique in 1764, and the French Revolution began in
1789.
As these social, political, and moral views changed, so too did the style the arts used to
communicate life. It was during this Age of Enlightenment that the Neoclassical era in art history
began by reflecting these changing views using a style much less ornate and gilded than the
Baroque and Rococo styles that had previously dominated artistic endeavors. Strict adherence to
simple classical style with an aim to technical perfection was favored and borrowed heavily from
Greek and Roman pieces discovered earlier in the 1700s. Art was approached with the same logic
and reason of the age and with much less emotion and drama than Baroque or Rococo.
The subject matter was often dark and serious, morally and ethically upright, or heroic. Where the
aristocracy had valued drama, emotion, and grandeur, the people now valued self denial and self
sacrifice over self indulgence. The colors were often dark or solemn and made use of chiaroscuro,

my time here in Dayton I have been to Lebanese festival and interacted with many people of Arabic

an easy choice to make because I had always been interested in Hinduism. Some of my favorite
movies had implied Hindu concepts in them such as karma. I decided to attend the Hindu

priests and currently has over six hundred patron families that visit weekly. As I entered the
temple there was a sign to take off your shoes. People were supposed to take off their shoes as
they entered the temple, it is a form of respect to the deities. As I was observing the service, a
priest stood in front of a particular shrine and chanted while ringing a bell. After he was finished
chanting he handed everyone banana. I found out later on the deity he chanted about was named
Vishnu and the banana he offered everyone afterwards a symbol of self sacrifice or a pledge of
righteous to the deity (Pradeepa, Offering the Fruits to Hindu Gods ). The man I spoke with is a
priest named Ramesh Rajamani. He had worked at the Hindu

The Great Commission To Worship Book Review
Abstract The idea behind the book The Great Commission To Worship by David Wheeler and
Vernon Whaley is the combining of worship and evangelism, Thus evangelism and worship have a
unique relationship. ... many times in Scripture it appears that while God is always our object of
worship, the concept of obtaining salvation (evangelism) appears to be the motivation (11). As
stated by the authors this book is the result of an argument between them as to which was more
important, worship or evangelism. The book first shows the misconceptions that today s Christians
have placed on these two concepts by placing them into two different classifications. After
dispelling these arguments the authors present the biblical relationship between these two concepts.
The authors spend the majority of the book expounding the idea of what they call the Great
Commission Worshiper. (5) The where, how, and why of the Great Commission Worshiper is
examined and expounded. They first define what a Great Commission Worshiper is, then how to
develop this person, and finally how to reproduce Great Commission Worshipers. This is all
accomplished through a mix of testimonies, both personal to the authors and those of other people,
and biblical examples.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Perfume, By Patrick Suskind Essay
As a German writer, the reason for which Patrick Suskind wrote his critically acclaimed novel,
Perfume, in a French setting, about the French, is questionable. However, candidate answers lie in
the setting of the novel itself. Mid 18th century France, which is adjacent to Suskind s Germany,
harboured not only a national, but global revolution of politics, economics, and social norms
through the French reforms. This had plentiful influence on all aspects of Prussia since the late
17th century (when Germany was known as Prussia) to the present. This stepping stone to a change
in practicality lied in the French Revolution and the change of identity that it instilled upon the
populace. An exploration of Grenouille and perfume in Perfume reveals their symbolism of the
critical transition from religious prominence, to humanistic considerations, to nihilistic extremes
that ensued national and global chaos after the French Revolution to represents its influence on
Germany and its constituent populace.
Perfume s mid 18th century setting boasts a religious presence through the Kingship rights
employed by Roman Catholic Church doctrines, that was gradually diminishing due to an Age of
Enlightenment paradigm shift and an introduction of humanistic and nihilistic views from the
French Revolution. In past and present days, perfume has been a symbol of religion and divine
transcendence. Incense is often depicted as a transcendent connection to God in the form of smoke

Racism And The Gay Community
In a time when countless citizens of the United State were homophobic, how were Blackmun
and Stevens, both of which were thought to be conservatives, open to the claims of the gay
community? My answer to this question before I read a single word assigned, was easy they
must have known someone who was gay. I believe it is simple to be against something that you
don t understand anything about. It is pompous to say that homosexuals are immoral, perverted,
disgusting sinners when you have never knowingly interacted with a homosexual. However,
becoming acquainted with someone will likely change your mind; especially if it is someone
you would consider a friend. Being able to put a face and an emotion to discrimination often
times make the discrimination appalling. The Justices involved in this case ruled the way they
did individually because of their personal relationships, or lack thereof, with gay people. Come
to find out, I was right regarding Blackmun. Justice Blackmun knew gay couples: he was able to
put a face and an emotion to the discrimination (Eskridge 165). I was unable to find out if Justice
Stevens knew any gay couples, but I would still contend he probably did. However, both men had
other reasons to dissent. Both Blackmun and Stevens believed in privacy laws and believed your
home was a place the government could not interfere. Blackmun believed White was challenging

The various activity levels of the brain are defined as brain waves and divided into four basic
groups according to wavelength. Delta waves range between 0 4 Hz, Theta waves range
between 4 8 Hz, Alpha waves range between 8 13 Hz and Beta waves are greater than 13 Hz.
Alpha waves are typical of states of quiet rest, none particular activity and sometimes when the
eyes are closed. Beta waves are typical of states of alertness, attentiveness or active thinking. Beta
waves appear also in the REM sleep stage along with Theta waves while the other sleep stages are
characterized by Theta and Delta brain activity .
Many researchers noted a discrepancy between the EEG of subjects with learning disabilities or

Chase Vs. Danielson
1.Evaluate this potential venture and the progress Chase has made.
Zipcar idea has begun in 1999, while Anje Danielson returned from her Europe trip and bring the
Car Sharing business and share it with Robin Chase. When the two cofounders started working on
the business concept and business plan, they looked at all aspects of market and checked if there
is place for them in the market. Based on their market analysis they found out that the concept of
car sharing is a niche in the US market and rental car services had not thought of this niche yet.
Based on their primary research urban locations could give them large number of potential users.
Because, in urban locations parking is expensive, public transportation is available, and people ...

They needed to build the technology, continue to search for potential investors, name the venture,
do marketing, and build their management team. It took lots of time for Chase to design the
business model for Zipcar and come up with a pricing structure (Table 2). But, soon after launching
the business Chase realized that the cost is higher than what they estimated in the beginning so she
changes the business model cost estimation (Table 2). It shows that business in practice is different
than what we estimate before start and we should be fixable to change our business model anytime
we see the need for.
What actions should Chase take as a result of the September operating results?
Chase has made a huge a development in this new venture. She has almost single handedly
developed the business model, secured funding, planed for marketing, and took care of the daily
operations. She did not have any experience in automotive business and alone she was not able to
bring this business to its full potential. In order to expand her business Chase should do following
studies.

Research Objectives. . The Racial Wealth Gap Is A Phenomenon
Research Objectives. The racial wealth gap is a phenomenon that has affected millions of
Americans over multiple generations. A house is one of the biggest contributors to an individual s
assets, however there have been discriminatory practices that have been used to prevent minorities
from homeownership, therefore reducing their ability to attain as many assets as their white
counterpart. This study in particular will compare the amount of subprime lendingtaking part in
Prince George s County and Fairfax County , two counties in Maryland that have the same
affluence but different racial demographics. Through this study I hope to inform an audience of the
correlation between subprimelending and race , as well as the effect... Show more content on

Assets such as inheritance can , in essence, be used to build up more assets such as real estate.
Therefore this racial wealth gap will continue to broaden until the assets of minorities begins to
equalize with that of Whites. This racial wealth gap has been prevalent for decades and it is
deeply affected by federal policies that have given Whites the privilege to gain assets for a
longer period than any other race. Practices such as White flight , the G.I bill , and redlining ,
have all discouraged African Americans from owning homes , while allowing Whites to be able
to increase the value of their home. As a result of years of affirmative actionWhites tend to have
more inheritance , which they can then use as down payments on property to build their assets.
One of the main things that could help to reduce the racial wealth gap, is to equalize the amount
of minorities and Whites that own homes. This would not only increase Black wealth , but it
would provide inheritance for the next generations. Therefore the gap would begin to decrease
overtime, as more generations would have a better foundation to start on. However there have
been governmental policies to make it harder for Blacks to buy and keep a house, and if they did
buy one it reduces the value of their house. The most recent practice that has been used to
discriminate against black homeownership is subprime lending , in which the bank has given black
families inflated interest rates on loans

Comparison Of Kinesology And San Jose State University
Many colleges in the United States offer Kinesiology as a stand alone major. Each college has
specific study of kinesiology it covers for a specific field the student wants to work in for his or

what specific field the institution helps students transition from education to profession. The two
colleges we will take a look at is California Polytechnic State University, in San Luis Obispo, and
San Jose State University s kinesiology program. The difference in the two institutions is that San
Jose State University goes by semester system while California Polytechnic State University goes
by quarter system. Let me begin with San Jose State s kinesiology

Harvey Velocity Theory
Shortly after the Mets 4 2 victory over the Marlins on Wednesday afternoon, the Mets quietly
announced that RHP Matt Harvey was being sent to the 15 day disabled list for discomfort in
his right shoulder. This roster move followed weeks of struggles on the mound for Harvey, who
has thus far pitched to career worst marks in ERA and K/9 marks, en route to a 4 10 record on
the season. While he s still actually pitching respectably (by FIP, Harvey s been keeping pace with
Zach Greinke, Jordan Zimmerman, and David Price), this is not the season we ve come to expect
from the Dark Knight. So what has been tormenting the pride of Gotham?
The Velocity Theory
One big factor could be Harvey s velocity. Harvey s average velocity on all of his pitches ... Show

But no pitcher will ever go up on the mound without any defense behind them (unless you re
Satchel Paige), because most pitchers won t be striking out everyone they face (and by most, I
mean all). Inevitably, some batter will make contact and put the ball in place, at which point,
getting the batter out becomes the responsibility of the defense. Typically, some balls will fall in
for hits, but most won t. The percentage of the balls put in play that become hits is measured using
BABIP, or Batting Averageon Balls In Play (it s also pretty fun to say). BABIP can be used to
measure how good the defense is behind a pitcher, in addition to how unlucky or lucky they are.
Comparing their current season figure season to their career number can let you know if a pitcher
is over or under performing. For instance, Jon Lester of the Cubs has been pitching this season
with a .265 BABIP, which is significantly less than his career number of .299 this indicates that he
s been the beneficiary of good defense and good luck while on the mound.
So what does this have to do with Harvey? Everything. On the season, Harvey is pitching to the
tune of an incredible .353 BABIP more than 60 points worse than his career average. His .353
figure is the second worst in the MLB only Robbie Ray is pitching with a worse BABIP, .364 (and
Ray s career BABIP is .339, so the difference between

Nacirema Rituals
The rituals of the Nacirema culture are very unique when it comes to the different forms of beliefs
and remedies. According to the article, The fundamental belief underlying the whole system of the
Nacirema appears to be that the human body is ugly and that its natural tendency is to debility and
disease (4). With that in mind, the Nacirema have come up with a bundle of ways to keep the body
healthy and pure. Of those ways, most are included with the belief that magic is the key component
in the use of ritualand ceremony. Houses in the Nacirema culturehave shrines dedicated to the
purpose of these ritual ceremonies. Homes with one or more shrines often mean the family is

Another similarity is the region where the Nacirema live, the territory between the Canadian
Cree, the Yaqui and Tarahumare of Mexico (2). I believe that Miner was describing the location
of America. If you focus on the rituals of the Nacirema when thinking of America, many of the
practitioners are real careers people choose to have. The way Miner describes the jobs makes
you think about how awful it might sound to people from other nations who don t have these
types of occupations where they are from. Not only did Miner talk about the jobs, but he also
mentioned a place called, the latipso , which is hospital backwards without the h . He describes
this place as a temple to the Nacirema, where the sick go to die. This description sounds a whole lot
like how someone would depict a hospital. I believe Miner uses these tricky descriptions as a way
to show us the reality of what is really going on in our society. He lists several, practitioners , which
are real possible careers for one to pursue in America.
The holy mouth men are dentists. Dentists have a set of tools they use to work on your teeth and

Bingo And The Game Of Bingo
History of Bingo
The first bingo games dates back to Italy in 1530. It originated as a game of lottery called, The
Lottery Giuco . When Italy was unified in 1530, the Italian National Lottery Bingo EL Giuoco the
Lottery d Italia was organized, and has remained, almost without rest, to date. Today the Italian
State lottery is indispensable to the government budget, with an annual contribution of over 75
million dollars.
A couple hundred years later, this type of lottery immigrated to France in 1700 and took the form
of Bingo we know today. Actually, the French were the first to play Bingocards, chips and sing
aloud the numbers.
Throughout the 1800s Bingo spread quickly throughout Europe. In the 1800s educational Bingo

Automation levels will be increased to improve margins and to offset second shift/overtime costs.
Mission Statement
Reliable products for low technology customers: Our brands offer value. Our stakeholders are
bondholders, stockholders, customers and management.
Tactics
Research Development: We will concentrate our existing product line into the Low End and
Traditional segments. The traditional product will migrate to the Low End segment. The High
product will migrate to the Traditional segment. During the early years we will migrate (gradually)
our Performance and Size segment products to the Traditional segment. We can also introduce a
new product to work in the Traditional market.
Marketing: Initially we will attempt to keep pace with the awareness and accessibility of our
competitors products. After we establish our cost leadership position we will revisit our situation
to decide whether sales and promotion budgets should be reduced or if we should continue to
match our competitors. Our prices will be lower than average.
Production: We will significantly increase automation levels on our products. However, because
automation sets limits upon our ability to reposition products with R D, we will postpone
automation for the High End and Size products until they arrive in the Traditional Segment. We will
prefer second shift/overtime to capacity expansions.
Finance: We will Finance our investments primarily through long term bond

The Tragedy Of The Commons
The Tragedy of the Commons American Earth: Environmental Writing Since Thoreau is a diverse
yet interconnected collection of essays by renowned environmentalist authors who have been
influential in literature, religion, science, and politics. Each piece has a specific purpose and role
that it plays in conveying ideas and themes. Many authors share their personal opinions on issues
such as the world s declining forests, the extinction of species, such as birds in Gene Stratton
Porter s The Last Passenger Pigeon (192), and their intimate experiences with nature, such as Julia
Butterfly Hill s The legacy of Luna (907). However, the most influential essay in this book is The
Tragedy of the Commonsby Garrett Hardin (438). A multitude of pieces in this book tie into the
tragedy of the commons and support its ideas in one way or another.
In his essay Hardin discusses how the rapid decline of the world s common places, such as natural
animal pastures, are the result of rapid, uncontrolled human population growth. Hardin suggests that
environmental problems such as deforestation, crowding out of native species, loss of resources,
pollution, poor job economy, etc., are the result of the loss of common spaces. He indicated that
common spaces used to be plentiful enough for every person to have an abundant share, but that
was when the human population was smaller than the current population of 7 billion people. Hardin
s powerful essay proposes many solutions and methods

The Conversions Of Augustine s Confessions
cThroughout Confessions, Augustine undergoes several conversions that lead to his final
conversion. Beginning when he was only a small child, Augustine experience his first conversion.
Raised by a Catholic mother and Pagan father, Augustine becomes attracted to searching for
answers about God. This conversion, which is a conversion of truth, continues to influence him
throughout his second conversion which takes place throughout his young adulthood. During this
conversion, Augustine first commits to the Christian beliefs intellectually and then shortly after,
physically. Inevitably, the answers and struggles that he experiences during his conversion of truth
leads to his acceptance of the Christian faith. After accepting this faith, Augustine undergoes a third
conversion. This conversion is a conversion of becoming a model of Christ. Augustine s book
Confessions shows these conversions and how they lead to his final conversion. Throughout
Augustine s life, he experiences multiple conversions with the earliest beginning when he was only
a school aged boy. This conversion carries over into his early adulthood and is a conversion of
truth. During this time, Augustine becomes attracted to the Christian beliefs and develops a
curiosity for understanding who God is. Since Augustine was born to a catholic mother, during his
childhood he observed men praying and learnt to do likewise. (Augustine, 11). Augustine practices
this observance of prayer in his childhood and prays

Introduction Plane crashes occur for a number of reasons. There seems to be a consensus with
the general public that flying is dangerous, engines fail and planes crash. That is true some times,
although the majority of plane crashes occur largely due to a combination of human error and
mechanical failure. In much of aviations accidents mechanical failure has been a contributing
factor. It is impossible however to blame plane crashes on one reason since events leading up to
an accident are so varied. Reasoning for plane crashes can be placed in a broad number of
categories. Environmental conditions play a vital part in aviation as a whole. Much planning goes

It also issued 18 airworthiness directives for all pilots operating small commuter aircraft, instructing
them on how to recognize and respond to dangerous icing conditions. (Krock, 2004, 4). As a step to
resolve icing accident investigations the FAA has issued airworthiness directives for aviation
operators such as: Monitoring ice build up, and getting out of icing conditions if the buildup is
unusually high, on anti icing equipment sooner rather than later, avoid abrupt and excessive
maneuvering that may exacerbate control difficulties, do not extend flaps when holding in icing
conditions (which can reduce angle of attack), If flaps are extended, do not retract until the airframe
is clear of ice, and report icing conditions to ATC. (Holzapfel, 2000, 9). Aircraft icing is closely
studied in wind tunnels, although it is very difficult for them to simulate different icing conditions.
Such icing research is conducted at John H. Glenn Research Center using the Icing Research
Tunnel, the largest refrigerated icing tunnel in the world, and the Twin Otter icing research aircraft.
New techniques are also under investigation for testing subscale components in icing tunnels. A
new area of interest is in the field of remote detection of icing condition. This could encompass
technologies utilizing ground based, in flight, or satellite mounted detection methods (Potapczuk,

What were the problems facing Alexander the III in 1881
The Problems facing Alexander III in 1881 When Alexander became Tsar, Russia was in crisis

Tsar, but there were immense challenges facing Alexander III as he suddenly became Tsar of the
world s largest country, covering a quarter of the world s land surface. Although known as the
Russian Empire, it compromised a large number of ethnic groups, with the Russians making up only

The Manifesto declared that absolute political power resided in the Tsar. An unbending
conservative; Pobedonostsev believed the basis of political and social stability lay in support for
autocracy, the Russian Orthodox Church and Russian nationalism. However the immediate task of
Alexander III s new government was to destroy the terror organisation, the People s Will. In the
wake of the assassination, the government introduced the Statute of State security, which set up
government controlled courts to try governmental opponents, without the need for a jury. Those
convicted faced possible execution, and thousands were exiled to Siberia. Although these courts,
which helped maintain political stability, were only meant as a temporary measure, they stayed
in existence until the end of the Tsarist rule in 1917. The government also took action to prevent
the spread of radical, and even liberal, ideas. Press freedom was severely restricted, with fourteen
major newspapers being banned between 1882 and 1889 for displaying liberal tendencies.
Foreign books and newspapers were also rigorously censored by the Okhrana (the secret police) in
order to prevent dangerous foreign ideas, such as democracy and parliamentary government,
reaching the Russian people. The universities were a particular area singled out for strict
government supervision. University fees were increased to exclude all but the

The Theory Of Social Learning Theory
This essay will demonstrate a knowledge and understanding and discuss the concept of social
learning theory, whilst taking into consideration and explaining the way children learn and
develop. This essay will focus on the overall concept of this theory and will explore the work of the
theorist Albert Bandura and how he contributes to the role of the adult and their understanding of
social learning. This essay will then examine the work of Urie Bronfenbrenner in relation to the
work of Bandura. Using this theoretical perspective it can benefit the adult by understanding of
children s learning and social development. Furthermore, this essay will link into practical and
reflect upon and analyse the relationship between theory and practice.
Social learning theory suggests that people learn from one another, this can be through observation,
imitation, media and modelling. This theory is often known as the behaviourist theory and
cognitive learning theory because it consists of using attention, memory, behaviour and motivation.
Social learning theory advocates that individuals, especially children, imitate or copy modelled
behaviour from personally observing others, the environment and the mass media . (Gray and
MacBlain, 2015). This is stating that a child will look up to someone they respect and class them
as models, the child may imitate their behaviour and the way they act. If a child s behaviour is then
reinforced the behaviour will occur again. This theory consists of

My Personal Statement For The Leadership Positions Essay
As I work to make myself available to my followers. Creating a strong relationship with those
around me is one of my top goals because once you develop a relationship, it becomes easier to
work together on a project. I reach out to those around me almost daily, and I will continue to
reach out to those who will follow me in the future. I want my followers to know that I am here for
them. In the leadershippositions, I am in now, I make sure that I post opportunities to gather
together: from an organized movie night, eating meals together, studying together, or offering
everyone a hot cup of tea (or other food). I make sure that the mentees know my door is open to
them. I encourage almost any form of communication from text to a letter, but most of the
communication, between my followers and I, is done through a group chat or face to face. I feel
like my interactions have created a more open environment where the students feel safe coming to
me to talk about topics they do not feel open enough sharing with a group of people. I am aware
that my leadership roles will change, thus the way I interact with my followers will change with it.
A constant notion that will not change is my effort to be involved with those around me. Just
letting them know that I want to be there for them helps build bonds of respect and trust with any
follower group.

State Farm Risk Register
State Farm has chosen to further to its already existing operations in Canada, with the result of
capturing millions of new customers. These customers will require both brick and mortar and
telephonic support. Brick and mortar locations number in the thousands and continue to grow. With
the acquisition of a greater number of customers, these locations will be able to absorb and support
a respectable number of these new customers. Yet internal analyses indicate that the younger
customer base, that is, customers in their 20s and 30s, prefer virtual or telephonic interactions and
will actively shun brick and mortar locations. It is these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If this event were to occur, State Farm would suffer extreme exposure, as every customer would be
somehow affected by such an event and would demand recompense, understandably so. Government
collapse would also affect call center and brick and mortar operations in the country, leaving
customers without recourse to file their claims.
This risk is an obvious threat and, certainly, poses a very high risk. Fortunately, the likelihood of
such an event happening is very low, since Canada s society has no history of collapse and is
governmentally well managed.
Still, in the event of such an event s occurrence, State Farm must have a mitigation strategy in
place. The primary focus of this strategy is to remain connected to the Canadian government,
possibly through lobbying efforts. Doing so could provide the company notice of impending
government issues. State Farm can also bolster its American division through premium increases
and the institution of greater policy limitations to bolster coffers to support meeting this Canadian
risk.
Due to the likelihood of this event, annual monitoring would only be required.
Clearance for Call Center Construction
State Farm must receive the appropriate clearance from Canadian authorities to complete the
construction of the call center. Building codes are mandated by the local and national authorities to
verify undue pejorative influence on

During his tenure at the Federal Reserve, Bernanke had spearheaded policy changes to fight against the adverse economic events that were affecting the US economy. Under his leadership, the Fed reduced interest rates to near zero levels and bought trillions of dollars worth of securities. Where these the right moves to make? The Millennial Side Hustle Analysis In today s world, the post secondary program you choose will be the pathway to your future career as it is suggested by society, but is university really a guarantee pathway to the career/job you wish to have? The article The millennial side hustle, not stable job, is the new reality for universitygrads by CBC News, talks about how students who have recently graduated face problem unemployment and unstable employment. The aspect of the article that really appeals to me is the story of Christian McCrave since he has studied the same program as I wish to. • 4. Social Security Issue Analysis Discussion Week #12 Social Security is one of the largest domestic federal programs with the largest source of income for most retirees, and is relied by the most vulnerable people of society. However, the program is financially unstable for the upcoming decades to come. Estimates show that Social Security will be to pay Americans full benefits for the next 20 years, but after 20 years, future generations could be in trouble, and Social Security will not be able to provide benefits towards the American people. Specifically, according to a news article by, National Affairs, written by, Andrew Biggs, A New Vision for Social Security , It is therefore incumbent upon today s policymakers to address Social Security s fiscal problems and to ensure ... The reason in need to change the retirement age is because Americans over the years have been able to live longer, which essentially means that Social Security benefits are given to a person much longer as well. From an article by the AARP commission, or American Association of Retired Persons, written by, Romina Boccia, and Virgina Reno, Updating Social Security for the 21st Century: 12 Proposals You Should Know About , ...Americans continue to live longer from one generation to the next, individuals will, on average, receive Social Security benefits for a longer time. The trend contributes to Social Security s funding gap... Back in 1935, a 65 year old men ranged to spend approximately 12 years in retirement benefits in contrast in modern times where average 65 year old men can spend up to 18 years worth of retirement benefits. A scenario of starting in 2023, the retirement age would increase every two months each year until 68 years old in 2028. By doing so, the funding gap would close to 16 percent. The earliest age to begin claiming retirement benefits is 62 years old, however, potentially that number can increase as well. With that said, another way is to gradually raise both retirement age and early eligibility age. If to begin in 2023 as well, the earliest age to claim full retirement benefits would increase from the current 62 years old to 65 years old. Unlike increasing the retirement age, by changing the earliest age to claim Social Security, the funding gap would close 26 percent. Both concepts are to reflect American s longer life spans, and is ideally fair to Americans, and in addition, improves Social Security s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Why Did Judge Hall Choose John Jameson for Celia’s... Why did Judge Hall choose John Jameson for Celia s defense? Given the impact of the slavery issue upon Missouri s politics at the time, the Judge Hall hoped for the trail to be conducted as expeditiously and decorously as possible, in a manner that ran the least risk of arousing the ire of either camp. Judge Hall needed a capable attorney, one of considerable standing in the community. He needed an attorney with proven political sensibilities, one who had not participated significantly in the slavery debates. In short, he needed an attorney who could be depended upon to give Celia a credible defense, one whose presence would make it difficult for slavery s critics to label the trial a farce or sham and one who would not arouse the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hardly more than a month following Lincoln s victory came declarations of secession by South Carolina and other states, which were rejected as illegal by outgoing President James Buchanan and President elect Lincoln. The election of Lincoln in November 1860 was the final trigger for secession.[74] Efforts at compromise, including the Corwin Amendment and the Crittenden Compromise , failed. Southern leaders feared that Lincoln would stop the expansion of slavery and put it on a course toward extinction. The slave states, which had already become a minority in the House of Representatives, were now facing a future as a perpetual minority in the Senate and Electoral College against an increasingly powerful North. Before Lincoln took office in March 1861, seven slave states had declared their secession and joined together to form the Confederacy. 1. West expansion 2. State rights 3. Economics 4. Irrepressible conflict 5. Slavery Causes of secession The Abolitionist movement in the United States had roots in the Declaration of Independence. Slavery was banned in the Northwest Territory with the Northwest Ordinance of 1787. By 1804 all the Northern states had passed laws to gradually abolish slavery. Congress banned the African slave trade in 1808, although slavery grew in new states in the deep south. The Union was divided along ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Primarily Disney became known as an animated film company and a cartoon creator. Later, the company expanded its range of activities into other markets through the Disney stores and theme parks around the world. The Walt DisneyCompany s key objective is to be the world s premier family entertainment company through the ongoing development of its powerful brand and character franchises. An organizational design of the Walt Disney Company has a horizontal structure. It is seen in the departmentalization or subdividing into smaller units. Under the structural frame, the Walt Disney Company achieves significant goals in both key long term programs as well as new initiatives. The leader of the company values analysis and data, keeps his eye on the bottom line, sets clear directions, holds people accountable for results, and tries to solve organizational problems with new policies and rules or through restructuring (Bolman Deal, 1991). • 7. The Trials From World War II, South Africa No one possesses a magic wand which the architects of the new dispensation could wave and, Hey presto! things will be transformed overnight into a promised land flowing with milk and honey (Tutu 3). After the apartheid, South Africa needed a way to reconcile the wrong that had taken place throughout the country. Instead of modeling the Nuremberg Trials from World War II, South Africaimplemented Truth and Reconciliation Commissions (TRC). This process guarantees pardon for any confess crime associated with a political objective (Ruden 2). Desmond Tutu, the archbishop of the Anglican Church in South Africa, praises and advocates the TRC; whereas, Sarah Ruden, an American living in South Africa, criticizes the RTC process based on two main objective points. Ruden sees the RTC process as not enforcing the laws as well as not giving victims enough reparations. While Ruden does present logistical evidence in her negative assessment of the TRC process, Tutu presents a more convincing assessment of the TRC process since he disputes using a trial system, while also explaining why economically and socially the TRC process was a successful solution to the post apartheid society in South Africa. Initially, Tutu begins his assessment by effectively dismantling the idea that putting perpetrators from the apartheid area on trial would have been a viable solution. Tutu theorizes that the security forces of the apartheid regime would not have supported the negotiated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Challenges Of Veterans With Disabilities This research paper will discuss the challenges and opportunities that veterans with disabilities encounter when transitioning from the Military into the civilian workplace. Currently, there are more than 6 million veterans in the United States with a disability. A veteran is defined as a person who has served or is serving in the United States Armed Forces. While reintegrating the veterans back into the workplace, veterans with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD), and Physical Disabilities will be one of the greatest challenges that any agency will encounter. Moreover, this will allow organizations to employee and empower America s bravest men and women; hiring a veteran brings valuable skills and knowledge into the workplace. Posttraumatic Stress Disorder is defined as a debilitating psychological condition triggered by a major event such as war, a terrorist act, or a catastrophic event. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs there are over 2.3 million American Veterans of the Irag and Afghanistan wars, with at least 20 % of them having a documented case of PTSD. Additionally, it is presumed that about 50% of the Veterans who actually have PTSD do not seek treatment. Women are the moms, teachers, doctor ..etc. Many years ago women could not be a priest or a minister in churches, men were the only people who were allowed to serve in such places. Women are only allowed to be an internal spiritual or religious experience, but are often denied leadership roles or roles that foster any form of externalization of their faith . As our guest speaker Nan said, they think women should stay in the house with their children. They also believe their voices are not loud enough for everyone to understand what they are saying. • 10. Analysis Of The Book Eight Hearts Essay Eight Hearts, All In a Row The bus drops Randy off next to an ice cream stand he used to buy neapolitan cones from in the summer. He s surprised it still exists, the stand now covered in a tarp, looking to survive the New York winter. 1818 Cheshire Street stands less than a block away, and he walks slowly, clutching his brown paper bag, trying to avoid slipping on the ice. When he was younger, a winter night meant sledding with the other kids in the neighborhood while lights illuminated up the inside of brightly painted houses. He, a stranger now, tiptoes through dead silence and boarded up windows, trying to see from the glow of flickering streetlamps. No colorful bulbs twinkled from roofs, no wreaths guarded welcoming doors, and no hot chocolate wafted through window cracks. Now, the memory of gingerbread men leaves an acidic taste in his mouth. His childhood home is one of the few in the neighborhood that hadn t been abandoned after the incident. When families fled, fluidly like a stream of grief and fear, his father had stood his ground at the house he bought for his family years ago. Almost nobody wanted to move into abandoned perfectly painted houses, polished with vibrant hydrangea bushes and stained with ink black tragedy. The property value had plunged like a bird shot from the sky, and the area was now a ghost town. As Randy makes his way down the sidewalk, 1818 Cheshire Street looms in front of him. Intracellular Fluid Essay Intracellular fluid (ICF) is liquid found inside the cell (separated into compartments by membranes) and extracellular fluid (ECF) is all of the body fluid outside of the cell. ECF contains interstitial fluid (found in the lymph, cerebrospinal fluid, glomerular filtrate of the kidneys) and plasma (found in the circulatory system). Sodium accounts for 90% of the ECF cations (positively charged ions) and regulates osmotic forces, therefore, regulates water balance (McCance Huether, 2014, p. 108). E. coli is the most common pathogen of UTI s and occurs more common in women due to the shorter urethra and the proximity of the urethra to the vagina and anus. The patient can be asymptomatic or experience urinary frequency, urgency, and discomfort. The presence of white cells in the urinalysis is indicative of infection and the urine culture can identify the bacteria. Pyelonephritis is a type of urinary tract infection that affects one or both kidneys (upper urinary tract) ( Pyelonephritis, 2012, p. 1). Bacteria (commonly caused by E. coli.) enters from the lower urinary tract and can lead to renal scarring. Symptoms of pyelonephritis may include a fever with pain in the lower back or abdominal area. Hematuria and vomiting can also occur. Diagnosis includes blood test and urinalysis with culture, but may involve imaging studies to detect renal abnormalities or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Little did we know at the time that the compact, puzzle like levels would eventually find new life in a full fledged game, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. Now, Captain Toad and Toadette, his partner in plunder, have hit the road on a quest of their own, and it s one of the most charming and enjoyable games to grace the Wii U. While it has a gleeful exterior, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker s also a deceptively challenging romp, especially if you attempt to uncover all of the games hidden items. Plautus and Terence from Rome and Menander from Greece, were all part of new comedy, which was mainly characterized by communal issues and family relationships in comparison to old comedywhich disregarded slavery and focused on political and philosophical criticism. Thus, the innovative focus of new comedy gave insight into Greek and Roman slave cultures through the actions and portrayal of slave characters. In the play The Grouch, the degree to which punishment is enforced appears to be dependent on the characterization of the master. For instance, when Daos is asked to approach Knemon s house, a nasty grouch, he fearfully states, If he catches me coming up his door, hell hang me on the spot (O Bryhim, 119). Yet, Gorgios character, a poor citizen, hardly demonstrates any form of physical and verbal infliction upon the same slave (Daos), besides reaffirming that Knemon has the right to strike, he affirms, Against force he has the law (119). In other words, Gorgios lack of punishment, yet awareness of authority, highlights a different Greek slave owning citizen. One who he kept his integrity through his mindfulness of power, but considered his slave to be part of the household. In addition, Sostratos is another character whose ideal of punishment is reflected by his characterization. Although, Sostratos is a decent young man, his wealthy background immediately implies he is spoiled (Tordoff and Akrigg, 154). His treatment of Pyrrhias differs from that of Gorgias in the way he automatically assumes that s Pyrrhias has done something wrong for Knemon to have inflicted punishment. Although overexpression is not noticeable in many genes, the genes that are involved in Down syndrome seem to be quite different. In fact, not even all of the genes in the 21st chromosome need to be tripled to result in Down syndrome. There are approximately 250 genes in the 21st chromosome, and only 20 to 50 genes need to be involved in the nondisjunction to cause the effects of trisomy 21. The small area within the cell where genes need to be to cause Down syndrome is called the Critical Region. (3). The temple was established in nineteen eighty six by two priests and currently has over six hundred patron families that visit weekly. As I entered the temple there was a sign to take off your shoes. People were supposed to take off their shoes as they entered the temple, it is a form of respect to the deities. As I was observing the service, a priest stood in front of a particular shrine and chanted while ringing a bell. After he was finished chanting he handed everyone banana. I found out later on the deity he chanted about was named Vishnu and the banana he offered everyone afterwards a symbol of self sacrifice or a pledge of righteous to the deity (Pradeepa, Offering the Fruits to Hindu Gods ). The man I spoke with is a priest named Ramesh Rajamani. He had worked at the Hindu ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Great Commission To Worship Book Review Abstract The idea behind the book The Great Commission To Worship by David Wheeler and Vernon Whaley is the combining of worship and evangelism, Thus evangelism and worship have a unique relationship. ... many times in Scripture it appears that while God is always our object of worship, the concept of obtaining salvation (evangelism) appears to be the motivation (11). As stated by the authors this book is the result of an argument between them as to which was more important, worship or evangelism. The book first shows the misconceptions that today s Christians have placed on these two concepts by placing them into two different classifications. After dispelling these arguments the authors present the biblical relationship between these two concepts. The authors spend the majority of the book expounding the idea of what they call the Great Commission Worshiper. (5) The where, how, and why of the Great Commission Worshiper is examined and expounded. They first define what a Great Commission Worshiper is, then how to develop this person, and finally how to reproduce Great Commission Worshipers. This is all accomplished through a mix of testimonies, both personal to the authors and those of other people, and biblical examples.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 34. Perfume, By Patrick Suskind Essay As a German writer, the reason for which Patrick Suskind wrote his critically acclaimed novel, Perfume, in a French setting, about the French, is questionable. However, candidate answers lie in the setting of the novel itself. Mid 18th century France, which is adjacent to Suskind s Germany, harboured not only a national, but global revolution of politics, economics, and social norms through the French reforms. This had plentiful influence on all aspects of Prussia since the late 17th century (when Germany was known as Prussia) to the present. This stepping stone to a change in practicality lied in the French Revolution and the change of identity that it instilled upon the populace. An exploration of Grenouille and perfume in Perfume reveals their symbolism of the critical transition from religious prominence, to humanistic considerations, to nihilistic extremes that ensued national and global chaos after the French Revolution to represents its influence on Germany and its constituent populace. Perfume s mid 18th century setting boasts a religious presence through the Kingship rights employed by Roman Catholic Church doctrines, that was gradually diminishing due to an Age of Enlightenment paradigm shift and an introduction of humanistic and nihilistic views from the French Revolution. In past and present days, perfume has been a symbol of religion and divine transcendence. Incense is often depicted as a transcendent connection to God in the form of smoke and scent, ... • 36. Racism And The Gay Community In a time when countless citizens of the United State were homophobic, how were Blackmun and Stevens, both of which were thought to be conservatives, open to the claims of the gay community? My answer to this question before I read a single word assigned, was easy they must have known someone who was gay. I believe it is simple to be against something that you don t understand anything about. It is pompous to say that homosexuals are immoral, perverted, disgusting sinners when you have never knowingly interacted with a homosexual. However, becoming acquainted with someone will likely change your mind; especially if it is someone you would consider a friend. Being able to put a face and an emotion to discrimination often times make the discrimination appalling. The Justices involved in this case ruled the way they did individually because of their personal relationships, or lack thereof, with gay people. Come to find out, I was right regarding Blackmun. Justice Blackmun knew gay couples: he was able to put a face and an emotion to the discrimination (Eskridge 165). I was unable to find out if Justice Stevens knew any gay couples, but I would still contend he probably did. However, both men had other reasons to dissent. Assets such as inheritance can , in essence, be used to build up more assets such as real estate. Therefore this racial wealth gap will continue to broaden until the assets of minorities begins to equalize with that of Whites. This racial wealth gap has been prevalent for decades and it is deeply affected by federal policies that have given Whites the privilege to gain assets for a longer period than any other race. Practices such as White flight , the G.I bill , and redlining , have all discouraged African Americans from owning homes , while allowing Whites to be able to increase the value of their home. As a result of years of affirmative actionWhites tend to have more inheritance , which they can then use as down payments on property to build their assets. One of the main things that could help to reduce the racial wealth gap, is to equalize the amount of minorities and Whites that own homes. This would not only increase Black wealth , but it would provide inheritance for the next generations. Therefore the gap would begin to decrease overtime, as more generations would have a better foundation to start on. However there have been governmental policies to make it harder for Blacks to buy and keep a house, and if they did buy one it reduces the value of their house. The percentage of the balls put in play that become hits is measured using BABIP, or Batting Averageon Balls In Play (it s also pretty fun to say). Social learning theory suggests that people learn from one another, this can be through observation, imitation, media and modelling. This theory is often known as the behaviourist theory and cognitive learning theory because it consists of using attention, memory, behaviour and motivation. Social learning theory advocates that individuals, especially children, imitate or copy modelled behaviour from personally observing others, the environment and the mass media . If a child s behaviour is then reinforced the behaviour will occur again. This theory consists of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. My Personal Statement For The Leadership Positions Essay As I work to make myself available to my followers. Creating a strong relationship with those around me is one of my top goals because once you develop a relationship, it becomes easier to work together on a project. I reach out to those around me almost daily, and I will continue to reach out to those who will follow me in the future. I want my followers to know that I am here for them. In the leadershippositions, I am in now, I make sure that I post opportunities to gather together: from an organized movie night, eating meals together, studying together, or offering everyone a hot cup of tea (or other food). I make sure that the mentees know my door is open to them. I encourage almost any form of communication from text to a letter, but most of the communication, between my followers and I, is done through a group chat or face to face. I feel like my interactions have created a more open environment where the students feel safe coming to me to talk about topics they do not feel open enough sharing with a group of people. I am aware that my leadership roles will change, thus the way I interact with my followers will change with it. A constant notion that will not change is my effort to be involved with those around me. Just letting them know that I want to be there for them helps build bonds of respect and trust with any follower group. The Relationship that a leader has with their followers is different in every group; this means that for different groups I use a mix ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wgu Risk Management Risk-Register Report Essay State Farm Risk Register Xavier Smith Western Governors University State Farm Risk Register State Farm has chosen to further to its already existing operations in Canada, with the result of capturing millions of new customers. These customers will require both brick and mortar and telephonic support. Brick and mortar locations number in the thousands and continue to grow. With the acquisition of a greater number of customers, these locations will be able to absorb and support a respectable number of these new customers. Yet internal analyses indicate that the younger customer base, that is, customers in their 20s and 30s, prefer virtual or telephonic interactions and will actively shun brick and mortar locations. It is these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If this event were to occur, State Farm would suffer extreme exposure, as every customer would be somehow affected by such an event and would demand recompense, understandably so. Government collapse would also affect call center and brick and mortar operations in the country, leaving customers without recourse to file their claims. This risk is an obvious threat and, certainly, poses a very high risk. Fortunately, the likelihood of such an event happening is very low, since Canada s society has no history of collapse and is governmentally well managed. Still, in the event of such an event s occurrence, State Farm must have a mitigation strategy in place. The primary focus of this strategy is to remain connected to the Canadian government, possibly through lobbying efforts. Doing so could provide the company notice of impending government issues. State Farm can also bolster its American division through premium increases and the institution of greater policy limitations to bolster coffers to support meeting this Canadian risk. Due to the likelihood of this event, annual monitoring would only be required. Clearance for Call Center Construction State Farm must receive the appropriate clearance from Canadian authorities to complete the construction of the call center. Building codes are mandated by the local and national authorities to verify undue pejorative influence on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
