Film Techniques In Shawshank Redemption
Shawshank Redemption is a film that was directed by Frank Darabont. Shawshank Redemption was a
film about Andy Dufresne, who goes to prison for a double murder that he did not commit and serves
two life sentences, Andy makes long lasting friendships at Shawshank Prison and has many hobbies
that he does. In Shawshank Redemption a major theme in this film is escape as it is displayed through
the film numerous times and in different formats such as film techniques and characterization.
Shawshank Redemption is a box office classic and it has been referred to as the best film ever made. A
scene where escape was featured heavily is when Andy and his friends were tarring a roof as Red had
bribed the guards to put them up there. Andy was listening ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Andy escapes by making a hole through the wall over a twenty year period and then during a stormy
night, Andy breaks the sewage pipe by using a piece of concreate while it is masked by the sound of
thunder. Escape is displayed very comprehensively through film techniques and characterization.
When Andy escaped through the sewers and ended in the river it felt like as if he was baptised because
he escaped from the claustrophobic confines of Shawshank and he also escaped the corruption and
money laundering as the warden had forced him to book his laundering schemes otherwise he would
make it hell for him. The major film technique that was involved in this scene was when Andy was
breaking the pipe, the camera was facing up towards him and then switch to the lightning strike
through the window, then quickly switch to Andy crashing the piece of concrete against the pipe. This
film technique gave the effect of intensity and made the audience be on the edge of their seats. This
scene if very significant to the story because this when Andy literally escapes from Shawshank and the
themes displayed in the scene displays how much defiance and hope Andy really had. In conclusion,
Shawshank Redemption used characterization and film techniques to display Escape through Andy
and the people around successfully. Personally, I really enjoyed watching Shawshank Redemption
because the film used a lot of thought provoking themes

Analysis Of Les Prludes S. 97
Les Préludes S.97 by Franz Liszt (October 22, 1811 July 31, 1886) is the third of his thirteen
symphonic poems. The premiere took place at the Weimar Hoftheater on 23 February, 1854 under the
baton of Liszt for a benefit concert. The instrumentation consists in three flutes (third also piccolo),
two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, four horns, two trumpets, three trombones, tuba, timpani,
snare drum, cymbals, bass drum, harp and strings. The year 1847 was the year where Liszt was
moving to Weimar to begin a new stage in his musical life, he took the decision to finish his career as
a pianist and begin to dedicate to the composition, besides, he met the Polish Princess Carolyne zu
Sayn Wittgenstein, that she impulse his career as a composer. He found the necessity to evolve the
music, and the way that he found was combining music with literature. In this essay I will discuss how
Les Préludes evolve the symphonic genre.
Mark Evans Bonds in Absolute Music discusses Liszt´s Program music. According with Bonds, Liszt
in his Harold essay, he distinguishes between ¬¬specifically musical composer and the composer
driven by an overarching poetic image or narrative. In program music, the recurrence, variation,
alteration, and modulation of motifs are determined by their relationship to a poetic idea. Liszt used
the new term to identify a repertory of instrumental music which through an evocative title, a verbal
program, or both, draws the listener´s attention in advance toward a specific object . Bonds analyses
the opinion of Liszt in his program music, how he tried to convince that program music is the next
step in music evolve, the necessity of break form rules to adequate the music into literature (in the
case of Liszt) and the fact that he was reinforcing the first ideas of combining music with other arts,
like Berlioz in his Symphonie Fantastique . Liszt proclaim himself as a Beethoven´s successor, he felt
that he had the necessity to create something new, as we know, the Weimar period of Liszt was
dedicated to him as a composer, leaving aside the achievements of other composers like Haydn,
Mozart and Beethoven. He looked that form and harmony were like a formula after Beethoven,
because

Comparing the Economic Performance of South and North Korea
Introduction An economic system of a county is a system for producing, distributing as well as
consuming goods and services. It includes a combination of various agencies, institutions, entities and
consumers, which constitute the economic structure of a particular community, or society. Both North
and South Korea have different economic systems. Collectivist Economy Collectivist economy is a
type of economy which advocates for collective control over production, as well as distribution. It puts
a lot of emphasis on collective action rather than individual action. Another name for collectivist
economy is communism economy. Apart from North Korea, other collectivist economies include
Japan and Indonesia. Economic System in South Korea The economic system of South Korea is a
capitalist economy. This is where the economy is characterized by free markets, as well as the absence
of government intervention with regard to the country s economy. One of the key characteristic of a
capitalist economic system is the ability of firms and private individuals to accumulate capital and
property in the economy of a country. In reality, capitalist economic system will require some
government intervention, mainly to protect private property. Capitalist economic system in South
Korea is a self supporting and does not need government intervention and implementation. This is
because of the private sector and private ownership running the economy. This system enables the

Ghan A Nation Of The Developing World
Ghana is a nation in the developing world. Ghana is continuously ranking among the top three in
Africa for freedom of speech . Ghana was the first place in sub Saharan Africa where Europeans
arrived to trade. They traded first in gold, next in slaves. According to BBC, Ghana likewise was the
first black African nation to achieve independence from the British colonial power. Despite being rich
in mineral resources, and endowed with effective civil service. Ghana fell victim to corruption soon
after their independence in 1957. Ghana s globalization include their culture, economy, and Lifestyle.
Firstly, culture in general contains religion, entertainment like art and music, language, and so on.
Intensely condemned as harmful to local culture. On 1957, Ghana became the first nation on sub
Saharan Africa to win their independence. The patriot pride fomented by this, alongside a rich cultural
heritage, has helped bind Ghana s diverse groups of people. In spite of numerous facets for Ghanaian
society differ between ethnic groups, the generally unification of the culture is perhaps one of the
standout reasons Ghana has enjoyed a stable and peaceful environmental in the post colonial time. For
religion, Ghana s populace is approximately 70 percent christian, 20 percent Muslim, and 10 percent
working on traditional religions. Traditional beliefs shift from group to group. First of all, Akan
religion worships the ancestors, alongside honoring gods, goddesses and other spirits.

Head Hair In Ancient Egypt
In Ancient Egypt, head hair was commonly associated with one s age and wealth where a shaven head
with a small curl at the side of the head would indicate a youth, while wigs were worn by older people
to conceal their greying or lack of hair. As for China, hairstyles were not an easily changeable outlet
for personal expression, but rather a symbol of everything from status to ethnicity to political ideals
until the recent years after 1970s. In the ancient times, Confucius s philosophy of Filial Piety was
deeply rooted in the mindsets of the people, and stated that one s body, hair and skin was granted by
parents. Thus, it was considered extremely disrespectful to cut head hair. And in the Tang Dynasty,
hairdos with different shapes evolved into a symbol of class status. Hairstyles were also used as an
indicator of a woman s marriage status; an unmarried woman wore her hair down or tied in a single
braid, while a married woman usually had her hair up in coils or a knot. In Africa, hairstyles were seen
as a representation of one s tribe. Different styles hold different meanings to each tribe. The Masai
warriors wore headdresses, spent hours braiding each other s hair and dyed their hair red. Women
would shave their heads when they are married to symbolise a new beginning. Mangbetu women
braided their hairs into a cone shaped basket, held in place by bones shaped like needles. ... Show

Parameters such as amplitude of oscillatory and acoustic wave, radius of bubble and number of
methanol molecules which have effect on bubble kinetics are more pronounced at frequency of 20
KHz. And this frequency is able to maintain cavitation effect in reaction medium. So 20 KHz can be
considered as optimum frequency and used for further simulations. 5.3 Effect of reaction temperature:

A Brief Look at Playing Tennis
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
In affluent society, playing tennis is a sport which requires high endurance, patience and full physical
strength s activity. Besides, it also requires equipment which is the tennis racquet. In the early century,
most of the tennis racquets were made of laminated wood, with heads of around 65 in sq. [1] At that
time, most of the tennis players have faced a problem during playing the tennis as the wooden
racquets seem quite obsolete or perhaps even inadequate. In details, it is too far and too slow, weak, or
heavy for professional tennis players who increasingly measure from the length that much higher
about six feet. [1] Figure 1.1.1: Wooden tennis racquet
In the late 1960s, T2000 steel tennis racquets were produced in which featured a wire wound around
the frame to make string loops. [2] The steel tennis racquets were started to replace the wooden tennis
racquets in order to solve the heavy and weak problems that caused by wooden tennis racquets as steel
is stronger and lighter than wood. Although the steel tennis racquets is better than the wood racquet,
the tennis players still faced a problem in terms of swing strength. Figure 1.1.2: Steel tennis racquet
When the tennis racquet technologies came in 1975, an aluminium racket was introduced. This
material was lighter than steel and allowed the construction of oversized tennis rackets. At that
moment, the players could hit with more spin on the ball with 100+ in sq head sizes.

Infection Prevention Practice Summary
In my present role of in patient transplant coordinator, I round with the transplant surgical team daily.
The interdisciplinary team is aggressively looking for opportunities to minimizing opportunistic
infections for example: de escalating antibiotics, removing bladder catheters, as well as removing
central lines. If the patient is a hard stick, a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) is placed. A
study by Rutkoff, (2014) mentioned that an integration of antimicrobial PICCs into the current
infection prevention practices should be practiced for reduction central line associated blood stream
infections.
One of the hospital initiatives is the early hospital discharge. This has been a very difficult process as

Christopher s Special Needs
Christopher speaks truth in his statement about special needs. He points something interesting out to
his readers that may not have been previously brought to their attention when he outlines how almost
everyone has a special need. Most of society treats people with the special needs title as a different
breed of people, when in actuality those people are no different than the rest of us, because we all have
special needs of our own. Although Christopher has some thoughtful accuracies in his description of
special needs, his thought process is a bit simpler than the issue. In this chapter, Christopher shows
that he ranks himself above his other classmates because, as he explains, All the other children at my
school are stupid (43). It could be his inability to understand secondary meanings of words and
phrases that leads him to have such a simple understanding of the special needs concept, or, more
likely, it could be because of his assumed superiority over his special needs classmates that he feels
the need to disarm the term in order to place himself above the others that he is grouped with.
Christopher s disability faces him with challenges every day. His condition leaves him with not only
an inability to understand any figurative language, expressions, or non verbal cues (14 15) but also a
lack of empathy. This makes it exceptionally difficult for Christopher to effectively communicate with
other people. Christopher s condition also causes him to be very particular about everything in his life,
such as his time tables to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

No Taxation without Representation Essay
Taxation is an extremely controversial topic in the United States because in order to continue to enjoy
the American comforts of healthcare, social security, national and neighborhood defense, and
regulated clean water and air, to name a few, we continue to increase the demands of our government
without wanting to pay for the supply of services. Remember, money is a currency and can be used to
consume, invest, save, pay loans (including credit cards), or pay taxes. If asking various families what
it means for American s to have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as described in the

that continually arise but are never decided upon. First, which services are considered merit goods,

Third, should the merit good be publicly or privately provided? Fourth, if there is a good which is not

Lastly, should the wealthy contribute more taxes than the poor? I m sure we can all agree that there are

The Heritage Of The Past
The heritage of the past is the seed that brings forth the harvest of the future. Stemming from the
words of Wendell Phillips, the acknowledgement and practice of heritage nourishes its ever growing
roots. The recognition of heritage in Alice Walker s Everyday Use and Seamus Heaney s Digging,
approach the nourishment of heritage in different ways. Heaney diversifies the heritage of a father and
grandfather digging in the potato fields, through an identity as a poet, by digging with a pen. However,
Walker recognizes heritage through the heirlooms of quilts made by a grandmother, but rebels against
the heritage by fulfilling a new identity. Heaney and Walker acknowledge and revere heritage, but
favor deviating identities. In Digging by Seamus Heaney, the speaker s memory is sparked by the
sound of his father gardening below his window, while at his desk preparing to write. He begins to
recall memories as a young boy, of accompanying his father to dig for potatoes in the fields. The
speaker further recalls a more distant memory of his grandfather cutting turf. The speaker has fond
memories of the hard working men in his family. He also recalls helping out as a child by picking
potatoes that his father had dug from the ground and bringing his grandfather milk while he worked.
The speaker shows admiration and respect for their hard work upon his reminiscence. Furthermore, by
reminiscing about the tradition of the men in his family, the speaker expresses his departure

Henrietta Lacks Response
I am not really a big reader, especially if it is books that I have to read, but I have to say I actually like
this book. It was one of the best nonfiction books I have read in a while. From the instant that I first
read the book, I was fascinated by Henrietta s amazing story about an occurrence that changed people
worldwide. I was completely shocked that I had never heard before of the Lacks family and of what
they were forced to tolerate. The beginning of this book was a wonderful introduction into the reality
of their situation. Rebecca Skloot shared Henrietta s story wonderfully; it developed smoothly and

Lacks is still a pressing matter. It also showed us that this type of event does not ever stop affecting
the lives of those around it. Henrietta s family had a reasonably difficult time adjusting to what was
trusted upon them and what they considered to be a true prejudice that forever changed the way they
look at the world. HeLa cells saved millions of people. Yet, most of them remain unaware at the
source of their redemption. Skloot presents to her readers the real live woman, the children who
survived her, and the interaction of race, poverty, science and one of the most important medical
discoveries ever. The characteristic work skillfully puts a human face on the questions surrounded by
the HeLa cell line. I enjoyed learning about the remarkable influence this woman has made to our
scientific advancement. I am hopeful; hopeful that this book will make an impact on the life on
Henrietta Lack s family and their descendants. Hopeful, that the world will begin to understand that
HeLa is not just a name of a cell but came from a living breathing person called Henrietta Lacks. In

The Power Of Power In Machiavelli s The Prince
The Medici was a very powerful family who started off as just a small family bank, but by using
smart, cunning and risk taking tactics, they gained and kept control over Florence for the majority of
the period of 1434 1737. Machiavelli was a political leader and author, living in Florence at the same
time as The Medici, but wasn t very fond of them. For that, The Medici had him arrested and tortured,
but despite that he went on and wrote a book called The Prince. The Prince is a short how to book with
the intentions of it being something useful for anyone who understands it . The book describes
Machiavelli s opinion on what he believes it takes to be an extraordinary prince, and how to gain and
keep full control of the people; by using his personal experiences, observations and past historical
events to prove his points. Although Machiavelli didn t like the Medici, the advice given in The Prince
illustrates the actions of the Medici family, proving them to be powerful and extraordinary leaders. In
The Prince, Machiavelli states that having the right skills and tactics will help you gain power. He

Dangerous Sugar Hazards Research Paper
Dangerous Sugar Hazards Ahead: Killer Candy
Bombs of sugar are hurled at you, the pins of grenades of artificial preservatives have been pulled,
bugs of all sort have surrounded you, no matter where you look these are all in the health killer called
candy. For instance candy upholds too much sugar; according to my calculations and the nutrition
facts from the Twix official packaging one minis Twix bar is 1.79 ounces yet about 10% (or 5 grams)
of the bar is pure sugar aside from the artificial ingredients in the rest of the bar. For some people
eating all that sugar from the chocolate, caramel, and cookie just overloads their mouth. In spite of
eating sugar, once you eat at least six Twix bars the sugar adds up to drinking a pop of soda.

An Analysis of Mending Wall Essay
An Analysis of Mending Wall
Robert Frost once said that Mending Wall was a poem that was spoiled by being applied. What did he
mean by applied ? Any poem is damaged by being misunderstood, but that s the risk all poems run.
What Frost objects to, I think, is a reduction and distortion of the poem through practical use. When
President John F. Kennedy inspected the Berlin Wall he quoted the poem s first line: Something there
is that doesn t love a wall. His audience knew what he meant and how the quotation applied. And on
the other side of that particular wall, we can find another example of how the poem has been used.
Returning from a visit to Russia late in his life, Frost said, The Russians reprinted Mending Wall over
there, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why doesn t Frost want to say what he meant? When asked, he d reply, What do you want me to do,
say it again in different and less good words? You get more credit for thinking, Frost wrote in a letter,
if you restate formulae or cite cases that fall in easily under formulae, but all the fun is outside: saying
things that suggest formulae that won t formulate that almost but don t quite formulate. The formula is
the easy answer that turns out to be, if right or wrong in general, certainly inadequate in particular. The
formula, like a paraphrase of the poem itself, is made of those less good words the poet has tried to
resist.
Mending Wall seems to present us with a problem, and appears to urge us to choose up sides. I suspect
most readers are eager to ally themselves with the speaker, to consider the neighbor dim witted, block
headed, and generally dull. Such a reading is nicely represented by the following passage from a
booklet on Robert Frost put out by Monarch Notes:
By the end of the poem [the wall] has become a symbol, and the two farmers have turned into
allegorical figures representing opposing views of freedom and confinement, reason and rigidity of
mind, tolerance and violence, civilization and savagery.... There is no mistaking the poet s meaning, or
his attitude toward what the wall represents ... it

Multidimensional Anxiety
The Multidimensional Anxiety Scale for Children (MASC) is a standardized measure of anxiety. It is
compromised of 39 items that are based on self report. Not only does that MASC have a total score, it
also includes a factor index that includes, harm avoidance, physical symptoms, separation anxiety and
social anxiety (March et al., 1997). As a starting point, of developing the MASC, no clusters of
expected anxiety symptoms were clusters together, only hypothesized to be cognitive, physical,
behavioural and emotional. After developing and administering the test, a varimax rotation was used
to derive four factor index scores of physical symptoms, social anxiety, separation anxiety and harm
avoidance (March et al., 1997). This test is used to measure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Social desirability includes the tendency an individual has to alter their response to make themselves
more appealing to others (Furr, Bacharach, 2014). Children may be frightened to report their anxiety
symptoms due to aspiring to present themselves in a certain way or to avoid treatment of their anxiety.
This bias can result in children presenting an underestimation or overestimation of the symptoms they
are experiencing. The gender or cultural differences of the child can also influences the reporting of
anxiety symptoms because of expectations of that gender or religion. A solution for this bias could be
peer report of both the child and/or parents to ensure social desirability does not influence the
responses of the parent of or child with

The Texas Rangers By Stephen F. Austin
In the early 1800s volunteers provided security services. They were mainly enrolled to watch over
large factories and other buildings. They also want to watch over local shops. They would alarm
people of fires and the occasional burglary. Around 1823, Stephen F. Austin created the Texas
Rangers. They say this was not the official beginning of the Rangers, because some people questioned
as to whether they were actually employed as Rangers. Originally they only had around ten men to
protect close to one thousand people. Instead, after the Mexican Revolution in 1835 is when they were
officially recognized them as an institution. They were an example of the security that the government
would provide to the new settlers.
In 1850 a Chicago Businessman named Allen Pinkerton created a private guard service. He was
originally contracted to protect available property, and ended up exposing the activities have a band of
counterfeiters. In 1861, he actually received national recognition when he was able to successfully
uncover a plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln. During the Civil War, He helped organize the federal
Secret Service that helped the union. Pinkerton security is still around today, and is a leading provider
of risk management services for organizations around the world. With the formation of this agency,
other agencies were also formed and these included Wells Fargo Company, Brinks, Burns, and others.
These agencies were often employed to track down wanted persons.

The Theme Of Graphic Horror In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
Within the Novella The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Stevenson depicts moments of
graphic horror in order to convey the chilling story of duality and the ordeals of Dr Jekyll. The two
moments where the theme of horror is particularly prominent are in the Carrew Murder Case and Dr
Lanyon s Narrative, where the character of Mr Hyde succeeds in being the epitome of evil in the
reader s eyes. Stevenson uses descriptive imagery, intense behavior (especially for Victorian
circumstances) and the senses, of which I am going to be focusing on sound in order to instill this
terror onto the readers. This combination of devices combined with the plot during these moments
makes them so frightening and memorably so. Stevenson uses descriptive imagery in order for ...

In Dr Lanyons Narrative, the Doctor describes Hyde s character and his appearance in a close,
descriptive way. By using the phrase dreadful smile in order to depict Hyde s rare appearance,
Stevenson creates an uncomfortable tone my using an antithesis between the two words. As smiles are
often connoted with goodness, for a smile to be dreadful shows how Mr Hyde had washed all decency
away and therefore creates a mismatched discomfort to the scene. Furthermore, describing Dr Lanyon
as pale after the transformation has taken place is key in Stevenson being able to covey the horror of
the situation to the reader. This also can be related to Mr Hyde s presence and perhaps a feeling that he
had drained Lanyon of livelihood this illustrating revulsion to Mr Hyde. Similarly, when describing
the setting of The Carrew Murder Case, Stevenson depicts the pale moon . The use of pale in this
description is particularly striking as it conveys how once again Mr Hyde is draining the livelihood
from the moon, almost portraying it as dead. This is can also be interpreted as a

The Pros And Cons Of Protective Tariffs
First, one of the restrictions to free trade is tariff. According to Menlo Atherton High School (2015), a
tax that is put on imported goods from abroad is known as tariff. Tariff is used to raise the price of
imported goods so that the domestic producers can sell their similar goods at higher prices. Domestic
government will be the one collecting the money that is received from tariff. Protective tariffs and
revenue tariffs are the types of tariff. Protective tariffs are put on imported goods so that it will be
more expensive. It is used to protect the domestic industries from the competition of foreign firms.
Revenue tariffs are used to raise money for government (Menlo Atherton High School, 2015). The
benefit of tariffs are uneven due to tariff is a tax. Besides that government is benefited, domestic
industries are benefit from it as well due to the reduction of competition from foreign productions. It is
because of the increased prices of the imported products. However, it is unfortunate for the consumers
because the higher price of goods is due to higher import price. Tariff tends to bring advantages for
government and producers but not to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Menlo Atherton High School (2015), a quota is a limit on the number of goods that can
be shipped in. A quota seems like a sensible alternative to a tariff when the intention is to restrict
foreign producers’ access to the domestic market. Importers typically are limited to a maximum
amount of products that they can sell in the home market over specific periods. A quota, similar to a
tariff, causes costs to increase in the home market. This induces domestic producers to increase
production and consumers to reduce consumption. One difference between a tariff and a quota is that
the tariff generates revenue for the government, while the quota generates a revenue gain to the owner
of import licenses. Consequently, foreign producers might capture some of this

The Impact Of Substance Abuse On Mental Health
This paper examines current research and literature based on the impact of substance abuse on mental
health. Mental health is defined as those conditions in a society leading to a situation where people in
their individual capacities, and in interaction with one another as members of groups are able to live
lives of quality in all contexts of their existence (Psychological Association of South Africa, 1989, p.
5).
A substance, otherwise known as a drug , alters mental states such as mood, perception or
consciousness when taken by a living organism (Fuhr, 1978). In the latest edition of the Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5) substance abuse, also known as addiction, is
considered a disease (Griffin, 2015).
Substance use in South Africa has a long history (Meghdadpour, 2010). Researchers estimated that
there were over 3 million orphaned infants residing in South Africa and that these orphaned ... Show

Research in developing parts of South Africa such as Hospital hill has generally focused on the overall
health and well being of the citizens with the impact of substance abuse on mental health going
unnoticed.
Research on this topic would lead to a better understanding of how the abuse of substances is harmful
to mental health.
This study aims to provide a critical examination of existing literature and theoretical frameworks of
the cause and effects of substance abuse on the mental health of those residing in underprivileged
conditions. Through this study, the researcher will illustrate the nature and extent of the short and long
term consequences of substance abuse on mental functioning.
The aims of the study are as follows:
1. To make visible the problem of substance abuse.
2. To investigate causes of substance abuse.
3. To identify popular drugs of abuse in South

On April 22nd, 1970, the American public gathered in the streets to celebrate clean air, water, and
land. Congressmen in Washington D.C. halted their activities to be their constituents; however, the
Nixon administration was laboring at what would become the capstone of environmental policy, the
EPA. While Earth Day was the launch of environmentalism in the modern sense, individuals had been
combating natural resource degradation for centuries. In 1849, Henry David Thoreau published a
compilation of lectures, Walden, that would become the standard by which all subsequent nature
writings are judged. John Muir, father of the American preservationist movement, cofounded the
Sierra Club, which preserved California wild lands. Both Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin Delano
Roosevelt worked during their tenure as presidents to save the National Park System (
Environmentalism ). After World War II, the United States birthrate skyrocketed, and people found
themselves living on the edge of parks and nature. The public began to question whether the
government was working to preserve untouched land for future generations. When Rachel Carson
published Silent Spring in 1962, the era of environmentalism was born. This movement demanded the
state not only preserve the Earth, but act to regulate and punish those who polluted it (Farrah). The
work on the pesticide poisoning of man sparked a powerful public

Jesus And Hahnukkah Research Paper
Jesus and Hanukkah
Yeshua, (Jesus) did not spend a lot of time in Jerusalem. Most of His ministry is recorded to be around
Galilee. He would have made His pilgrimage to Jerusalem on the following appointed feast days:
Pesach or Passover
Shavuot or Pentecost
Yom Kippur or The Day of Atonement
Rosh Hashanah, Yom Teruah or Jewish New Year
The Feast of Trumpets
Sukkot or The Feast of Tabernacles.
He is however found in Jerusalem on the 25th of Kislev. Kislev is the ninth month on the Biblical
calendar and corresponds to November and December on our Gregorian calendar. We are told in John,
that Jesus went into the Temple to join in the celebration of the festival of dedication.
This celebration would have been the festival of lights or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Jews surrounded Him and wanted Him to identify Himself as the Messiah. He more or less told
them that He had already done that, but they did not believe Him anyway.
It was here in Solomon s porch that Jesus had identified Himself as the Light of the World at another
time. Jesus is indeed the Shamash, our servant, the eternal light that sheds light in a world of darkness.
Unfortunately, He was not welcome there in the Temple and they began to stone him for what they
perceived to be blasphemy.
What is the lesson of Hanukkah that we can learn for today? As our world becomes darker and darker,
and the laws of our land have become in direct opposition to the laws of God, we need to guard
against assimilation into this world s system. We like the Maccabee s need to stand up against
unrighteousness, even to the point of losing our lives if necessary.
Even when the odds are against us, if we are on Gods side then we have a majority. The Holy things of
God deserve our allegiance and they are to be protected. No one can plunder your temple and take
from you the treasure that is hidden there. They can take your life, but your light is

Short Story The Chair On Top Of The World
In the two short stories The chair on top of the world by Stuart Baum and All summer in a day by Ray
Bradbury, I will be comparing Tomas, the main character from The chair on top of the world and
Margot, the main character from All summer in a day . I will be comparing what Tomas s personality
to Margot s personality. In The chair on top of the world , Tomas, the main character attempts to find
the chair that is on top of the world. In his journey, he meets a unicorn and 2 dragons that assist him
on his quest to find the chair on top of the world. In the end, Tomas figures out that since the world is
a sphere, Wherever he stands, he will most likely be on top of the world. All summer in a day , in this
short story, Margot, a 4 year old girl moves from Earth to Venus. 5 years later, she has grown tired of
this planet s heavy rain and wants to sun to rise. A few days later, she hears that scientists predict the
sun will be finally coming out again. Margot becomes extremely excited. But the problem is that
before the teacher gets to class, William the bully and his gang lock Margot in a closet and they go off
to play in the sun. Then after 1 hour, the rain starts again. So the children gloomily unlocked the closet
and let Margot out. That was those 2 stories. In my opinion, I like Tomas s personality more than
Margot s because Tomas is braver than Margot, the role he plays is better than Margot, and Tomas gets
along better with other characters than Margot does. One reason why I like Tomas s personality is that
he persevered until the very end. It s not up here, said the tiny dragon. Do you know where it is? asked
Tomas. The dragon shook its head. Nope, sorry. (6 Baum)The quote helps back up my statement
because This was one of the challenges Tomas faced when he wanted to find the chair on top of the
world. So Tomas went up to first the first mountain and the dragon told him that the mountain wasn t
on the top of the world. So this means that Tomas didn t give up on sitting on the top of the world. At
the end, Tomas finally accomplished his goal(sort of). I think the sun is a flower, that blooms for just
one hour. This was Margot s poem. This quote helps me explain why Margot is not

The Effectiveness of WordPress Against Traditional...
Comparative Analysis of the Effectiveness of WordPress Against Traditional Methods Of Website
Introduction The aim of this paper is to historically review and compare the WordPress tool and its
effectiveness against more traditional forms of Web Design. This paper will attempt to address the
positive and negative elements of their respective usability based on first hand experience of the use of
both methods. Figure 1: Elements of Websites There are many common elements which both websites
types own. You need to have a certain level of knowledge about web developing in order to
distinguish them. As I said in first lines of this document I will outline few of common elements of
both but few of elements that make one distinguished by other one. WordPress About WordPress first
became available to the public for use in 2003. Its initial intended function was, using a single piece of
code, to improve typography. Since its initial launch in 2003, WordPress has become the largest and
most popular self hosting blogging tool in the world. As time passed, the hope was to develop
WordPress into a powerful, well designed personal publishing system, based upon PHP and MySQL,
and licensed under the GPLv2 (or later versions/variations of this licence). Common Uses WordPress
began solely as a blogging tool, but over the years since its initial launch has become a powerful
content management system, also including plug ins, widgets and themes. In recent times, WordPress

Food Action Plan
Summary and Action Plan
1. Introduction
I am a full time college student. I take four classes every fall/spring and two classes every
winter/summer. Food is available to me every day; however, I do not have time to consume three full
meals a day because of the busy schedule I have. Sometimes I do not have the option of choosing
what food I want to eat or when to eat. I often buy food on campus because I do not like the options
they have. I spend 15$ a day buying water, snacks and meals at college. When I have the option of
eating out it costs me 15 35$ on meals. Most of the time I take various snacks and meals with me to
college. My main meal, which I eat every day at home, I eat what my mother cooks because she s in
charge of cooking in our household. I m restricted in my selections of food because I do not have time
to go grocery shopping, cooking or driving to eat out. I tend to skip breakfast most of the time because
I am always in a hurry to leave, so I don t miss classes.

  • 2. Film Techniques In Shawshank Redemption Shawshank Redemption is a film that was directed by Frank Darabont. Shawshank Redemption was a film about Andy Dufresne, who goes to prison for a double murder that he did not commit and serves two life sentences, Andy makes long lasting friendships at Shawshank Prison and has many hobbies that he does. In Shawshank Redemption a major theme in this film is escape as it is displayed through the film numerous times and in different formats such as film techniques and characterization. Shawshank Redemption is a box office classic and it has been referred to as the best film ever made. A scene where escape was featured heavily is when Andy and his friends were tarring a roof as Red had bribed the guards to put them up there. Andy was listening ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Andy escapes by making a hole through the wall over a twenty year period and then during a stormy night, Andy breaks the sewage pipe by using a piece of concreate while it is masked by the sound of thunder. Escape is displayed very comprehensively through film techniques and characterization. When Andy escaped through the sewers and ended in the river it felt like as if he was baptised because he escaped from the claustrophobic confines of Shawshank and he also escaped the corruption and money laundering as the warden had forced him to book his laundering schemes otherwise he would make it hell for him. The major film technique that was involved in this scene was when Andy was breaking the pipe, the camera was facing up towards him and then switch to the lightning strike through the window, then quickly switch to Andy crashing the piece of concrete against the pipe. This film technique gave the effect of intensity and made the audience be on the edge of their seats. This scene if very significant to the story because this when Andy literally escapes from Shawshank and the themes displayed in the scene displays how much defiance and hope Andy really had. In conclusion, Shawshank Redemption used characterization and film techniques to display Escape through Andy and the people around successfully. Personally, I really enjoyed watching Shawshank Redemption because the film used a lot of thought provoking themes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Analysis Of Les Prludes S. 97 Les Préludes S.97 by Franz Liszt (October 22, 1811 July 31, 1886) is the third of his thirteen symphonic poems. The premiere took place at the Weimar Hoftheater on 23 February, 1854 under the baton of Liszt for a benefit concert. The instrumentation consists in three flutes (third also piccolo), two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, four horns, two trumpets, three trombones, tuba, timpani, snare drum, cymbals, bass drum, harp and strings. The year 1847 was the year where Liszt was moving to Weimar to begin a new stage in his musical life, he took the decision to finish his career as a pianist and begin to dedicate to the composition, besides, he met the Polish Princess Carolyne zu Sayn Wittgenstein, that she impulse his career as a composer. He found the necessity to evolve the music, and the way that he found was combining music with literature. In this essay I will discuss how Les Préludes evolve the symphonic genre. Mark Evans Bonds in Absolute Music discusses Liszt´s Program music. According with Bonds, Liszt in his Harold essay, he distinguishes between ¬¬specifically musical composer and the composer driven by an overarching poetic image or narrative. In program music, the recurrence, variation, alteration, and modulation of motifs are determined by their relationship to a poetic idea. Liszt used the new term to identify a repertory of instrumental music which through an evocative title, a verbal program, or both, draws the listener´s attention in advance toward a specific object . Bonds analyses the opinion of Liszt in his program music, how he tried to convince that program music is the next step in music evolve, the necessity of break form rules to adequate the music into literature (in the case of Liszt) and the fact that he was reinforcing the first ideas of combining music with other arts, like Berlioz in his Symphonie Fantastique . Liszt proclaim himself as a Beethoven´s successor, he felt that he had the necessity to create something new, as we know, the Weimar period of Liszt was dedicated to him as a composer, leaving aside the achievements of other composers like Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. He looked that form and harmony were like a formula after Beethoven, because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Head Hair In Ancient Egypt In Ancient Egypt, head hair was commonly associated with one s age and wealth where a shaven head with a small curl at the side of the head would indicate a youth, while wigs were worn by older people to conceal their greying or lack of hair. As for China, hairstyles were not an easily changeable outlet for personal expression, but rather a symbol of everything from status to ethnicity to political ideals until the recent years after 1970s. In the ancient times, Confucius s philosophy of Filial Piety was deeply rooted in the mindsets of the people, and stated that one s body, hair and skin was granted by parents. Thus, it was considered extremely disrespectful to cut head hair. And in the Tang Dynasty, hairdos with different shapes evolved into a symbol of class status. Hairstyles were also used as an indicator of a woman s marriage status; an unmarried woman wore her hair down or tied in a single braid, while a married woman usually had her hair up in coils or a knot. In Africa, hairstyles were seen as a representation of one s tribe. Different styles hold different meanings to each tribe. The Masai warriors wore headdresses, spent hours braiding each other s hair and dyed their hair red. Women would shave their heads when they are married to symbolise a new beginning. • 10. A Brief Look at Playing Tennis CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 Introduction In affluent society, playing tennis is a sport which requires high endurance, patience and full physical strength s activity. Besides, it also requires equipment which is the tennis racquet. In the early century, most of the tennis racquets were made of laminated wood, with heads of around 65 in sq. [1] At that time, most of the tennis players have faced a problem during playing the tennis as the wooden racquets seem quite obsolete or perhaps even inadequate. In details, it is too far and too slow, weak, or heavy for professional tennis players who increasingly measure from the length that much higher about six feet. [1] Figure 1.1.1: Wooden tennis racquet In the late 1960s, T2000 steel tennis racquets were produced in which featured a wire wound around the frame to make string loops. [2] The steel tennis racquets were started to replace the wooden tennis racquets in order to solve the heavy and weak problems that caused by wooden tennis racquets as steel is stronger and lighter than wood. Although the steel tennis racquets is better than the wood racquet, the tennis players still faced a problem in terms of swing strength. Figure 1.1.2: Steel tennis racquet When the tennis racquet technologies came in 1975, an aluminium racket was introduced. This material was lighter than steel and allowed the construction of oversized tennis rackets. At that moment, the players could hit with more spin on the ball with 100+ in sq head sizes. ... • 12. Christopher s Special Needs Christopher speaks truth in his statement about special needs. He points something interesting out to his readers that may not have been previously brought to their attention when he outlines how almost everyone has a special need. Most of society treats people with the special needs title as a different breed of people, when in actuality those people are no different than the rest of us, because we all have special needs of our own. Although Christopher has some thoughtful accuracies in his description of special needs, his thought process is a bit simpler than the issue. In this chapter, Christopher shows that he ranks himself above his other classmates because, as he explains, All the other children at my school are stupid (43). It could be his inability to understand secondary meanings of words and phrases that leads him to have such a simple understanding of the special needs concept, or, more likely, it could be because of his assumed superiority over his special needs classmates that he feels the need to disarm the term in order to place himself above the others that he is grouped with. Christopher s disability faces him with challenges every day. His condition leaves him with not only an inability to understand any figurative language, expressions, or non verbal cues (14 15) but also a lack of empathy. This makes it exceptionally difficult for Christopher to effectively communicate with other people. Stemming from the words of Wendell Phillips, the acknowledgement and practice of heritage nourishes its ever growing roots. The recognition of heritage in Alice Walker s Everyday Use and Seamus Heaney s Digging, approach the nourishment of heritage in different ways. Heaney diversifies the heritage of a father and grandfather digging in the potato fields, through an identity as a poet, by digging with a pen. However, Walker recognizes heritage through the heirlooms of quilts made by a grandmother, but rebels against the heritage by fulfilling a new identity. Heaney and Walker acknowledge and revere heritage, but favor deviating identities. In Digging by Seamus Heaney, the speaker s memory is sparked by the sound of his father gardening below his window, while at his desk preparing to write. He begins to recall memories as a young boy, of accompanying his father to dig for potatoes in the fields. The speaker further recalls a more distant memory of his grandfather cutting turf. The speaker has fond memories of the hard working men in his family. He also recalls helping out as a child by picking potatoes that his father had dug from the ground and bringing his grandfather milk while he worked. Any poem is damaged by being misunderstood, but that s the risk all poems run. What Frost objects to, I think, is a reduction and distortion of the poem through practical use. When President John F. Kennedy inspected the Berlin Wall he quoted the poem s first line: Something there is that doesn t love a wall. His audience knew what he meant and how the quotation applied. And on the other side of that particular wall, we can find another example of how the poem has been used. Why doesn t Frost want to say what he meant? When asked, he d reply, What do you want me to do, say it again in different and less good words? You get more credit for thinking, Frost wrote in a letter, if you restate formulae or cite cases that fall in easily under formulae, but all the fun is outside: saying things that suggest formulae that won t formulate that almost but don t quite formulate. The formula is the easy answer that turns out to be, if right or wrong in general, certainly inadequate in particular. The formula, like a paraphrase of the poem itself, is made of those less good words the poet has tried to resist. Mending Wall seems to present us with a problem, and appears to urge us to choose up sides. I suspect most readers are eager to ally themselves with the speaker, to consider the neighbor dim witted, block headed, and generally dull. Such a reading is nicely represented by the following passage from a booklet on Robert Frost put out by Monarch Notes: By the end of the poem [the wall] has become a symbol, and the two farmers have turned into allegorical figures representing opposing views of freedom and confinement, reason and rigidity of mind, tolerance and violence, civilization and savagery.... I will be comparing what Tomas s personality to Margot s personality. In The chair on top of the world , Tomas, the main character attempts to find the chair that is on top of the world. In his journey, he meets a unicorn and 2 dragons that assist him on his quest to find the chair on top of the world. In the end, Tomas figures out that since the world is a sphere, Wherever he stands, he will most likely be on top of the world. All summer in a day , in this short story, Margot, a 4 year old girl moves from Earth to Venus. 5 years later, she has grown tired of this planet s heavy rain and wants to sun to rise. A few days later, she hears that scientists predict the sun will be finally coming out again. Margot becomes extremely excited. But the problem is that before the teacher gets to class, William the bully and his gang lock Margot in a closet and they go off to play in the sun. Then after 1 hour, the rain starts again. So the children gloomily unlocked the closet and let Margot out. That was those 2 stories. In my opinion, I like Tomas s personality more than Margot s because Tomas is braver than Margot, the role he plays is better than Margot, and Tomas gets along better with other characters than Margot does. One reason why I like Tomas s personality is that he persevered until the very end. It s not up here, said the tiny dragon. Do you know where it is? asked Tomas. The dragon shook its head. Nope, sorry. (6 Baum)The quote helps back up my statement because This was one of the challenges Tomas faced when he wanted to find the chair on top of the world.
