2. Disney Princess Stereotypes
The next group of Disney Princesses start with The Princess and The Frog (2009)
and go until the most recent princess film, Moana (2016). The other films that fall
into this category are Tangled (2010), Brave (2012), and Frozen (2013). These
princesses are described as rebels who live on the edge, full figured, well endowed,
and sexually charged. Tiana (The Princess and The Frog), Rapunzel (Tangled), and
Anna (Frozen), still end up with a romance at the end of the film. Tiana is Disney s
first African American princess, which was important as up to this point many
young girls did not have a princess that resembled them visually. Tiana exhibits both
typical traits of princesses from the Classic Era, compassion and understanding, as
well as traits typically viewed as masculine in the same films, enterprise, cleverness,
and assertiveness. Although she finds love at the end of the film, it was due to
chance and not from her actively looking for it. The film conveys an important
message that wishing on a star is not going to accomplish anything, but hard work
will. Tiana s goal never changes throughout the film, even after meeting Prince
Naveen and realizing she loves him, her sights always stay on owning a restaurant.
Unlike the previous films that end the narrative with a wedding or presumed
wedding, the narrative continues after Tiana and Naveen get married. The film ends
with her working in the restaurant that she was finally able to open. Although
released a year after

This enabled it to be preserved for many generations to see rather than it be torn

4. Essay about The Firing of Bobby Knight
The Firing of Bobby Knight
Bobby Knight, longtime Indiana men s head basketball coach, was recently fired.
This firing sparked a controversy among basketball fans throughout the nation; did
he deserve to be fired? I believe that Bobby Knight deserved to be fired. Although
coach Knight is one of the best coaches in the nation and has earned the respect of
countless numbers of fans including myself, I do not believe that a coach should be
able to act the way he acted and get away with it. Coach Knight s record for
abusing players, abusing the media, and being a jerk should speak for itself and
there is no doubt in my mind that Bobby Knights firing can be justified. Bobby

Knight went on to lead the Hoosiers to a remarkable twenty 20 win seasons,
including three 30 win seasons. Knight s teams appeared in 24 NCAA tournaments
and won three of them. Knight s 1975 76 squad remains the only team in men s
college basketball history to venture through the regular season and the NCAA
tournament, finishing the season with an overall record of 32 0. Knight, the leading
coach in Big Ten history as far as wins are concerned, has 763 career victories
behind him which leaves him 116 wins short of former North Carolina coach Dean
Smith s college record 879 wins as head coach. He has guided two U.S. National
Teams to international gold, once in the Pan Am games in 1979 and once in the
Olympics in 1980. Coach Knight has obviously earned the respect of many fans
and other coaches, but the fact of the matter is that Knight had several problems on
and off the court that were overlooked for so long that some people think that he
deserved to keep his job. Knight s downfall in my mind was his uncontrollable
temper and the fact that he could never admit that he was wrong about anything.
Most serious competitors in sports are expected to have an aggressive attitude
towards winning, but coach Knight s aggression goes beyond wanting to win.
Before 1979 there were really no reasons for anyone to be concerned about coach
Knight s temper. Sure, he had always yelled frantically at the referees and screamed
at his players during games,
5. Rhetorism In Sons And Lovers
According to Paul de Man, every text presents a language problem that underlies and
determines the interpretation of that text. This is a problem of whether the text
should be taken literally or figuratively (rhetority or figurality) and also because all
poems/texts have multiplicity of meanings, value and appeal. In order to resolve this
language problem, there is the need to create a context which will help in the
interpretation of the text. Thus, the linguistic texture of the text involve, all the works
of the author or writer in question, the genre of the text as well the biography of the
writer can be considered as a means of interpreting the text. In this deconstructive
interpretation of D.H. Lawrence s Sons and Lovers, a biographical context has been
created in an attempt to analyse the text by outlining and matching up incidents and
/or events, and characters in the novelwhich are projections of real life events and
people in the life of the author himself. Indeed, there are so many things in Sons and
Lovers that bear resemblances to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
H. Lawrence s Sons and Lovers because it bears resemblance to Lawrence s life it
reflects the childhood and family life of the author. Many of the details of the novel

characters in the novel and the people who in one way or the other have been very
instrumental in his life, particularly members of his family and the women he was
involved with. Even though certain events and characters are changed, minimized,
remolded or exaggerated, the core of the novel is based on Lawrence s own
experience. Indeed, there are several elements in the novel setting, incidents and/or
events, characters, themes and conflicts which have their real life counterpart for
which reason the novel can easily be identified as an
6. Ecotourism in the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica and
Tanzania
When it comes to the topic of ecotourism, most of us will readily agree that it is a
less harmful alternative to mass tourism and that it promotes responsible and low
impact travel to areas where flora, fauna and cultural heritage are the primary
drawing power. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of
what the impact of ecotourism actually is and what its long term consequences are.
Whereas some are convinced that ecotourism provides the basis for sustainable
development, particularly in places that suffer from exploitation and excessive
resources usage, and that could only improve the general conditions of the local
people, others maintain that we are still far from true ecotourism, for many are those

mass tourism and ecotourism can arguably provide an excellent opportunity for
development, but their negative impact is sure to be seen, and could potentially
outweigh the benefits that they have brought. Another country that has significantly
embraced ecotourism is Costa Rica. A tiny Central American country located just a
few hours flight from the United States, Costa Rica rapidly transformed to a green
destination, and in 1992 the U.S. Adventure Travel Society declared Costa Rica the
number one ecotourism destination in the world (160). Its success finds its root in a

(2) Mike s Bikes as owner of the bikes has rights in the property. (3) Finance gave
value when they granted Mikes Bikes $250,000 in working capitol. (4) The
agreement Finance sent to Mike s Bikes qualifies as a security agreement. This
because it grants a security interest in the bikes. It adequately describes the bikes as
inventory. Even though the fact pattern refers to it as personal property it is not
because the property is held in the trade of business. The bikes are inventory because
they are held by the debtor for sale to consumers. The security agreement is
authenticated by the electronic signature of the debtor in the reply email. This is
because multiple documents that are attached to each other can qualify as a security
agreement.
Finance s security interest would still attach to the bikes acquired after March 1, 2015
even though there security agreement did not contain the terms or henceforth

inventory would be sold and replenished and would therefore, take a security

The French vs. the American Revolution The French Revolution and The American
Revolution are similar in many that people call them the Twin Wars. We will explore
how they are similar by talking about the role that women played and the documents
that emerged from each war. We will also explore how they are different by talking
about the causes for the wars and the goals for each. Although the causes might seem
similar in detail they are actually different. The American Revolutionwas started
because of the problems with Britain and their incessant need to keep taxing the
colonies even though they broke away. The colonist didn t go to war over the taxes

In the French Revolution the women played a part in a lot of the war,(Women and
the Revolution), but almost every time they were involved it ended with
controversy such as the time the women march on the palace of Versailles. The
women were upset that they didn t have bread to feed their families. On October 4,
1789 the women march toward Versailles and they demanded to see the baker, his
wife and their son. The King promised to meet some of the ladies and give them all
the bread in the palace. Before that happened The National guard came to take the
king back to France for fear of his safety. The Queen who was Marie Antoinette
barely escaped. The king compromised and said he would speak to the women on
the balcony of the palace. He said My friends, I will return to Paris with my wife
and children. This was the last time that the king would see Versailles (Women s
March). In the American Revolution women took an active role in the war. Most
women in this time were wives and daughters of soldiers. The women who had a
constant presence in the camps were known as camp Followers One of the most
famous women during the Revolution was a lady named Deborah Sampson. She
wanted to avoid working in sweat shops and doing hard labor on the farm her family
owned that she pretended to be a man in order to go into the army.(Women during the
American Revolution).
To conclude we have talked about the similarities and differences between the
American and the French Revolutions. From this research I have concluded that I
think these two wars are equal in differences and similarities that they aren t the same

some ways but they are different too. So the statement the Twin Wars is

Poetry Critique: Waiting for the Locksmith at Two on a Monday Afternoon The
poem Waiting for the Locksmith at Two on a Monday Afternoon talks about the
insecurities and shames that people tend to hide or lock within themselves.
Barring one line, the poem does an excellent job in conveying its theme through its
consistent usage of images. The vividness of said images and figures of speech
also add to the overall effect and appeal of the poem. First, the poem is consistent

I wholly recommend reading this. The book manages to hook its readers through
the realistic and well written characters, the extensive and immersive world
building, and the entertaining and heartbreaking writing style of the author. First,
the book is full of realistic and well written characters. Janus Silang, the character,
is written as a normal teenager and can be related and sympathized with easily.
However, by the end of the book Janus manages to undergo so much growth and

changed from the start of the book, and yet these changes felt natural with the way
the story was written. Even the minor characters, such as Janus s parents, his love
interest, and his sister, gain some form of development; not enough to overshadow
and bog down the plot, but just enough to flesh out and get a feel for their character.
All the characters feel real and natural, and it makes it easy to form attachments to

10. Essay On Athletic Director Duties
When comparing the list of athletic duties across the four schools, we found more
similarities than differences. In our group we have two public schools which
consist of Scoggins Middle School in McKinney, TX with 1,100 students and 7
sports teams, and Lakin High School in Lakin, Kansas with 400 students and 15
sports teams. We also have two private schools; Loyola Academy located in
Wilmette, IL has 2,000 students with 24 sports teams, and Cary Academy (Middle
and High School) located in Cary, NC has 800 students and 49 sports teams.
A key similarity between the four schools is scheduling. One of the main athletic
director duties is the scheduling of both home and away games, scheduling referees,
and scheduling transportation for away games. This important duty for any athletic
director can take up a large part of their time depending on how many teams they
have per season.
Another area where we saw similarities is in staff management. In our four schools, it
is the role of the athletic director to hire the coaching staff, provide the necessary
training, provide feedback and guidance, and to help mediate conflicts with parents
and student athletes. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the differences we observed was in budget management. Although every
school s athletic director is responsible for creating and managing a budget; where
they get the funds to run the program differs. Fundraising in the private schools does
not always fall on the athletic director. For instance, in one of the private schools
listed, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is responsible for raising money to help
fund the athletic program. In this case, the athletic director does not need to allocate
any funds for fundraising events or marketing. In the public schools, athletic directors
are responsible for raising money through fundraising events, booster clubs, and
parent fees to help pay for equipment, facilities, coaches,

Infancy and Childhood Development
When babies are born, their brains are ready to learn. As they learn, their brains
grow. This helps them learn about the world around them. This also gives them a
chance to explore the world around them in new ways. Exploring and trying things
out is how babies learn. Although brain development is natural, there is a lot more to
it than developing on its own. Brain development comes from moms, dads, siblings,
aunts, uncles, caregivers and just the people around the babies. We help babies learn
about the world around them. We give babies chances to touch, taste, see, hear, and
smell as they can. We give them chances to do and learn many of things. We just have
to do the right things that support brain development, such as, being caring and
supportive, paying attention to the babies, giving them what they need, and providing
a rich learning environment. In this essay I will focus on what babies and toddlers
need from caregivers for normal brain development.
Communication is key for babies and brain development. Communication sets a
positive mood for babies, gives them self confidence, independence in new task,
cooperativeness and prevents them from engaging in bad behavior. Communication
is important because it reflects on everyday events. This helps babies and toddlers
build an internal mental life with a cultural worldview. This also prepares them for
literacy. The more you speak to your children, the better vocabulary they will have. In

The curator has a lot to deal with so there is a structure of positional power so that

a branching of different disciplines, like: exhibition designer, conservator,
development, and accounting (Lancaster, A., Houdyshell, A. 2019). With all these
different people being involved, a curator would benefit from knowing the
Relational Leadership Model. The ethical and empowering parts of the RLM
section are important to be able to draw different people together to work as a
cohesive team (Komives, S. R., Lucas, N., McMahon, T. R, 2013). Every position

field of Museum curation is Franz Boaz. He started changing the mindset from

Comparing The Gilgamesh and Genesis There is a collection of evidence to prove
and explain how the Israelite people might have known or heard some Babylonian
myths. This evidence is shown through similarities in the Genesis creation myths and
many Babylonian myths. As an example, there are many similarities shown
throughout the Gilgamesh story that relates to the Noahstory in Genesis. Some
similarities include the heroes character, the order to build a boat, the number of
animals, the means of the flood, and the action of sacrificing after the flood. These
are only a few of the many similarities interpreted in these stories. The first
similarity is that the character of the heroes in both the Gilgamesh story as well as
the Genesis/Noah story. In both stories, the heroes character is righteous. For
example, in Noah s Ark, it states that a righteous man (Genesis 6:9) was directed to
build an ark to save a limited and select group of people and all species of animals.
Noah received these orders directly from God. On the other hand, Utnapishtim
received his order from a dream. Accordingly, both heroes were ordered to build a
boat. In the Gilgamesh, Utnapishtim is clearly instructed to build a boat and leave
all wealth behind. O man of Shuruppak, son of Ubartutu: Tear down the house and
build a boat! Abandon wealth and seek living beings! (Gilgamesh 23 25). In
comparison, at the beginning of the Noah flood story, Noah is also instructed to

many fairytales, we are given characters who set out on an adventure to better
themselves whether they know that they are on one or not. In A.S. Byatt s The
Thing in the Forest we are taken on such an adventure, but this is more than just a
children s fairytale. Through figurative language we are shown that the main
characters, Penny and Primrose, are dealing with more than just a creature in the

objects in the story, we better understand how Penny and Primrose are dealing with

With the use of symbols, Byatt can make reference to problems with the girls or
make a comment on the larger picture of war at the time. The three largest symbols
that appear in the story are the mansion, the forest, and of course, the thing in the
forest. Each symbol represents something bigger in the whole scheme of things.
The mansion that the girls are first sent to is a cold and dreary place to the
children. Byatt describes the mansion as cold and dark. This is because of war
time in England and they are tying to not be obvious. This dreariness only helps
the symbol of the mansion to represent what is going on at that time. The house is
a representation of the State. That being the government and everything that is part
of the security it provides. There is a sense of security in a way that the mansion is
used. The government commandeered the mansion for use as a safe house,
although there still is a feeling of doubt about it. To the girls and other children, the
mansion is a place of security or home until they move on. This is most likely not
what the girls had in mind when they arrived. For them to feel any sort of comfort in
this time of tragedy, they will need to stick together and make the best of the
situation. The girls seemed to be thinking the worst of every event but at the
mansion, things were taken care of to the best of the ability of the adults there to care
for them. Unlike the
20. I Do Not Agree With Gifted Students Being Left Behind
I do not agree with gifted students being left behind. As an educator we sometimes
just let the gifted students do their own thing because we feel that they have a
good understanding of the content. In the classroom, a majority of the focus goes
to the students who are struggling and those students get the majority of our
attention. The gifted student needs to be a focal point of the classroom as well.
Challenging them to reach new heights should be the educators focus but it does
not always happen. The No Child Left Behind initiative is another component that
hurts our gifted students. The administrators and teachers are so focused on this
law that is put in place for our schools that their main focus is to make sure all
students are kept on track with their appropriate grade level. This is a big reason in
my opinion why gifted students are being left behind. School districts are putting
so much focus those students and not doing enough for our gifted students.
Tracking has been going on in schools for a long time. Bigger school districts are
able to group students better by ability levels since they have more courses to offer
in their curriculum. The smaller schools which I am accustomed to have a more
difficult time. Smaller schools have to get creative and send their more gifted
learners up to higher grade level in the elementary for a class like reading or math. In
the junior high and high schoolclasses, schools are able to move students into other

the town she lives in, Maycomb, and although she thinks that everyone is equal, her
journey in life makes her realize that this is not true. Without noticing, Scout with her

American and white race and how it shifts because of various incidents. Affected by
racial discrimination, Maycomb s society faces controversies after turmoil arises.
Change is developed in Maycomb s orderly society because of Dill, Jem, and Scout

22. Mortgage Crisis Essay
Did you know that you can take up to 30 years to pay off a mortgage in Canada?
It can be quite the experience being approved for a mortgage, especially if it is your
first. However, once your mortgage payments kick in, the reality of their financial
implications dawns.
Mortgage payments can exert a heavy burden on your expenses. Besides paying a
mortgage, you have other equally important things to do with your money. Life goes
on even after the mortgage. However, the thought of paying for a house month after
month, year after year, for thirty years, is close to living a never ending nightmare.
But there s good news for you. You can actually complete paying off your 30 year
mortgage (assuming a $222,000 home at 4% interest) within 11 years ... Show more

Any extra, however small, payment you add to your monthly payments goes towards
reducing your principal amount. At the end of the day, you will end paying your
mortgage in a shorter time period and save in interest.
2. Cut Down on Your Non Essential Daily Expenditure
Having lunch is a necessity that you can t do without. But who said you must buy
lunch every day? What about bringing your own lunch from home? Let s assume that
you normally spend $100 a month on lunch. If you put this towards your mortgage
payment, you will end up saving yourself more than $25,000 in interest! Add to this
whatever you spend on Starbucks every month and you will see your interest
crumbling faster than cookies. There are so many non essential expenditure that you
can scrape or skim off to put your mortgage payments on the fast track.
3. Consider Refinancing Your Mortgage
No one wants to be tied down to a mortgage for 30 years! If the above stringent
measures are not your cup of coffee, you might want to consider refinancing your
mortgage for a shorter term, say 15 years instead of 30. Refinancing your home
allows you to get financing to pay off the initial loan and instead sign up for another
one with a lower interest, which is payable within a shorter

Question 1 Question 2
The first use of the triads was in 1817, when Johann Dobereiner observed that
elements could be placed in groups of three based on their properties. When the three
elements were ordered according to atomic weight, the smallest weight would have
the least significant reaction or mildest property, whilst the heaviest would have the
most significant or strongest property. Further, the atomic weight of the middle
element would be almost exactly the average of the two other elements. These
properties were considered too coincidental not to be of some significance. One of the
first triads to be observed was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When ordered with atomic number there are only a few instances where the atomic
masses do not ascend which would have resulted in the two elements being switched
in the original order of elements when atomic weight was used. These errors are
pairs where the second of the pair is placed first when ordered with atomic weight;
three of which are argon and potassium, cobalt and nickel, tellurium and iodine.
The Law of Triads began to direct chemists towards the patterns found in lists or
tables of elements. Many chemists began exploring patterns but it wasn t until 1864
that the next step was made. John Newlands realised that when ordered by atomic
weight a regular pattern of properties formed. He noted that elements seemed to fall
into patterns of eight whereby every eighth element would have the same properties.
This was not entirely true however as Newlands saw this pattern and was reminded of
a musical scale s eight note repetition. Nevertheless, the recognition of this in fact
deterred Newlands from making further inferences as he continued to attempt to force
elements into this musical scale like format which was not entirely applicable.
Furthermore, the noble gases had yet to be discovered when Newlands Law of
Octaves was formed. This meant that the pattern didn t account for an extra element
in the patterns of eight. As can be seen on the right, noble gases are not included and
had they been, they would be placed in
24. Differences Between Dual Federalism And Cooperative...
What are the differences between dual federalism and cooperative federalism? Be
sure to fully address what federalism is and why it was created. 1000 words.
Dual federalism is a term used to describe a circumstance in which national and state
governments are sovereign and equal within their constitutionally allocated spheres of
authority.
Federalism is a concept that refers to a system of government in which power is
shared between the national and non national governments. Cooperative
Federalism is a model of federalism in which all governments are linked and
participate in the administration of programs. Creative federalism was a term used
to describe the Great Society program of Lyndon Johnson. President Johnson
sought to devolve powers to the states using creative federalism. The devolution of
responsibilities to the states began under President Nixon but were accelerated in
the 1980s under President Reagan. Ronald Reagan s brand of new federalism
dramatically decreased the use of categorical grants. Federalism under President
Obama is still in the development stage, but the 2009 Federal Stimulus Plan can best
be described as new federalism, creative, federalism, and general revenue sharing.
There are four controversial examples of federalism at work today.
A good example of federalism is usage of marijuana. Federalism, with its dual
sovereignty, can create a patchwork of conflicting laws between the states as well as
between the states and federal government.

The chaos and destruction that the Nazi s are causing are not changing the lives of
only Jews, but also the lives of citizens in other countries. Between Night by Elie
Wiesel and The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom, comradeship, faith, strength, and
people of visions are crucial to the survival of principle characters. Ironically, in
both stories there is a foreseen future, that both seemed to be ignored. Before the
Great War begins affecting the Wiesel s and ten Boom s lives, both families
experience a premonition of a dark future ahead of them. Ironically, neither family
chooses to listen to these signs. In the novel Night, there are two events of visions.

seeing the flames or they were just visions in her mind, she was a warning to the

Willem writes a doctoral thesis of a terrible evil that is taking place in Germany.
He wrote this paper at the university he was attending. Willem spoke of a hatred for
human life that the world has never seen before, He said, seeds were being planted
of a contempt for human life such as the world had never seen (ten Boom 29).
There is no explanation as to why these warnings were ignored. Survivors today beat

Populist And Progressives
The Populists and Progressive were two major movements that occurred during the
outbreaks of the workers union after the civil war. The populists began during the late
1800s and the progressives began during the 1900s. There are many differences
between these two movements, but yet both of these movements have many things in
common. During this time, farmers united to protect their interests by creating a
major political party. This party was known as the Peoples Party, which became
known as the Populist Party. Populists drew their strength from rural areas as many
Populists tended to mostly be poor and uneducated. They had ideas such as
government ownership of major industries. Progressives, also affected by
industrialization, began their movements in order to reestablish their society. The
Populists supported labor demands, such as people in the labor force only being
allowed to work eight hour workdays. The Populists tried to encourage more
governmental control over the banking systems as well as governmental control
over the operation of the nation s railroad and communication systems. One of the
most controversial Populist demands was the money supply. Farmers saw inflation
as a way to improve their way of living as the price level of their crops began to rise.
The farmers also planned to expand the money supply at on point.
Progressivism began in the early 1900s. Progressivism was mostly centered in the

Before visiting the Seattle Art Museum (SAM) to observe and analyze the art
covered in class, I made sure to read the museum s mission statement. That way, it
would be in my mind as I walked through the halls and moved from gallery to
gallery and I could revisit it afterward. According to Seattle Art Museum s executive
summary and strategic plan for 2014 2017, the museum s mission is a simple one: to
connect art to life. Through art, the Seattle Art Museum enriches lives and engages
diverse communities. As the leading visual art institution in the Pacific Northwest,
SAM draws on its global collections, powerful exhibitions, and dynamic programs to
provide unique educational resources benefiting the Seattle region, the Pacific
Northwest, and beyond (Seattle Art Museum). Regarding the fact that I am writing
this now and had the opportunity to observe and research many works of art proves
their mission to be successful. Walking into the museum, I noticed that it already
appeared to be much bigger on the inside than it did on the outside. The first two
floors were lit mostly by natural light and provided museum visitors access to tickets,
information about the museum, the gift shop, and some food. The remaining floors
were dimmer and mostly just the art pieces were given light to eliminate distraction.
The American, Native American, and modern/contemporary art was displayed on the
third floor while the African, European, and Mediterranean art was found on the top
floor. The three art pieces that interested me the most were all found on the third
floor in mostly the modern and contemporary art section. To, help uncover the power
of detail behind the artwork, I chose three pieces corresponding to abstract and
abstract expressionismfrom artists Jackson Pollock, Josef Albers, and Eva Hesse to

The first powerful example of abstract art and in this case, abstract expressionism,
comes from Jackson Pollock. Paul Jackson Pollock was born in Cody, Wyoming, in
1912, to a family with four other sons. When Pollock was nine years old, his father
abandoned the family and returned when only after Pollock had already moved out
of the house. Though his childhood was a fairly rough, he loved nature

legal issue involved at the beginning of the process when the company decided to

didn t require expensive environmental equipment or required that the Union

Union Carbide in the U.S. paid low cost labor, the least they could have done is
provided a workplace protection for their employees in India. They should have
enacted the same laws and standards for all their employees regardless of where the
plant was located. The safety of their employees should have been the number one

not in compliance with legal, moral, or ethical standards. They had very few laws
that were enacted by their government and they couldn t the very least follow it.
There were times when they saw the equipment was corroded, but they did nothing to
fix it. Some of the equipment was not in working order and they still continue their
production. Even when they were told to fix the issues found by

Tokyo Story s 360 degree In David Desser s Ozu s Tokyo Story he mentions that
casual viewers fail to notice Ozu s scenic construction and segmenting of screen
space (12). Ozu Yasujiro s use of the 360 degree space within the film Tokyo Story
(1953) may seem like a mismatched action. The 180 degree line is a rule where the
camera is position at an eye line perspective. It causes the action within a film to
continuously stay on one side of the axis line. Through the editing of 180 degrees, the
audience has a connection to the film that makes them feel as if they were not
watching a film, but rather, watching the action in person. Ozu, like many other
Japanese filmmakers, was influenced by Japanese culture, especially architecture
(17). Desser states the first timewe see the Hirayamas in the film, they are seated
next to each other, each facing right. Yet by the time the sequence ends we
suddenly notice that now they are facing left (13). Near the end of the segment
when a new character, Noriko, walks into the scene. At this moment in the film,
Tomi is on the left side of the screen and ShЕ«kichi is on the right. The film cuts
and shows Noriko entering the room, cut, then Tomi is on screen right and
ShЕ«kichi is on screen left in a long shot. Desser clarifies characters who converse

which they are filmed (12). Many films, especially American films, usually have an

But what is a superhero? What sets it apart from a normal person? Superheroes are
subsets of heroic figures that came to be possessed by superhuman qualities (Danny

mortals. They pursue justice and defend the defenseless, helping those who cannot
help themselves and with the force of good they overcome evil. ( Superheroes and
Philosophy, 2005) But what is the history of the making of these extraordinary
characters? Superman, Batman, Wonderwoman, Spiderman and countless other
superheroes have been in the media for the past decades. Superheroes have not
only been created to be a source of entertainment to the general public, but also for
increasing awareness. Since 1938, superheroes were made to deal with drugs,
alcohol, and other social issues to increase awareness to the readers. Not only did
these superheroes gave awareness, it s vast influence on modern culture also gave
hope, creativity and wonder to the public during harsh times especially with

The American school system is absolutely broken. A product of terrible teachers
and administrators, horrible districts, and our country s inability to fix the inherent
flaws of the system. We sit back as the youth of our proud nation spend their days

children. These factories throw knowledge at the kids left and right. There are so
many bits and pieces of information being hurled around at once. With the vast
expanse of knowledge entering the minds of young people during the day, one

But something we do not think about is merely pure luck. We look at smart and
successful individuals and attribute their success to themselves. It is the fantasy

at Nobel prize winners and their backgrounds, we see that many of them are from
areas with good schools. These communities with lots of support, minimal drug use,
and basically zero murders, nurture great minds. That is the luck of the intellectual
at play. Take into account this hypothetical example. Two boys are born in the same
time periods with the same drive to succeed. Both boys go about schooling with the
same initial enthusiasm. The difference between them is that one lives in a clean
district with a great school. This child never stops performing. Partially because of
great teachers, and partially because of the support from home. This child is not
influenced by all of the harmful things of inner city environments. But the other boy
is. The other boy was unlucky enough to be born into a family who does not love
him. This boy lives in poverty, has seen his mother doing bad things, and the schools
barely teach him a single thing. Frustrated with school the boy

During his tenure at South Charleston High School, the 6 foot, 173 pound Pitts had

In his senior season, Pitts had 90 tackles, including 56 solo stops and nine tackles for
loss. He recovered three fumbles and two interceptions, one of which he returned for
a touchdown.
Also, the freshman is someone that can return punts if need be. Pitts averaged 45.5
yards on kickoff returns and 21.3 on punt returns.
Often, offensive linemen don t see much playing time as a freshman. However, Josh

The Sarahsville, Ohio native traveled with the team last season and had a chance to
learn from some of the best. Currently, Sills is penciled in as Grant Lingafelter s

However as the authors stressed, probably more significant than the change in how

The desire by some to stay and work longer has led to the current workforce capturing
many generations. With countries such as the US capturing as many as 5 distinct
generations, others have been able to capture 4 and 3. The various generations
segment the different age ranges into generations generally governed by different
attitudes to work, preferences and value systems. The attitude, preference, and values
held by any generation affect the way they approach their works. 21st century
organizations tend to prefer managers who can deal with the different generations as
they have different characteristics and present diverse challenges. The attitude of the
various generations greatly differs in the workplace. The generations in the workforce
have been segmented into the following demographics: the Traditionalists (also
known as the silent generation or the greatest generation); the baby boomers;
generation X; generation Y (also known as Millennial), and finally generation Z. An
understanding of these
40. How Portraiture Has Changed Over The Years
Portraiture has been around for many years, dating all the way back to cave drawings.
It is an art that has continued to progress and evolve while maintaining the key
elements that classify it as portrait making. Despite the fact that as an art it has
changed throughout history, portraiture continues to be an integral part of society.
Even though the subject matter seems simple and limited, there are infinite amounts
of ways a person can be creative when it comes to designing a portrait. There are a
multitude of ways a portrait can be created, depending on the tools that are used and
the style the artists desires the portrait to be. Portraiture has continued to develop
throughout the years, starting with cave drawings, leading up to today where
everyone is constantly taking photographs. However, at one time it was not so easy
to come by a portrait. Originally if someone wanted a portrait to be done, it would
have to be requested of an artist. Before photography, portraits were typically done in
paintingmedia such as oil paint, which meant once an artist was commissioned it
could take months before receiving the final product. Portraits are also closely
associated with the wealthy or the royals because they could afford the price of

It is important to recognize the value that portraiture brings to society, as well as
understand the depth of knowledge and skills that goes into creating any piece of
artwork. Portraiture requires a lot of skill and knowledge when it comes to
technique and materials. Portraits can be created in various ways and inspire
numerous different emotions. Due to the emotions that portraits produce, they
continue to be a vital part of our lives. Art has always been an essential part of
society and as portraiture and other various types art evolve, while they may be
different, they will continue to be an integral part of our
41. Summary Of A Personal Statement For Theatre
Performance
Personal Statement
I would like to study Acting and the Theatrical Arts because I am very passionate
about musical theatre, and have always wanted to play different roles, and make
people happy and joyous through my performances. I want to pursue acting as a
career because it has always been and interest of mine, and I have done a lot in
school and my past to work towards finding a profession in Theatre. The course in
general interests me because it includes everything that a person needs to know to
improve their work as an actor, and because it will challenge me, and furthers me as
an actress. The course does not only dwell on acting and performance, but also theatre
itself, performances, dramatic texts, performance venues, and so on. I find this part
very intriguing, due to the course not only focusing on the physicality of acting, but

I remember that I used to raid the attic, find old clothes, and dress myself up in
them. I even used wigs, umbrellas, everything I could find to create a funny and
lighthearted character that I could then present to my family out on the terrace. I
always had a passion for creativity and making up people that I could then make
people laugh with. I love the feeling of making people happy with something that I
have done, and have an immense passion for performance. Every time I have seen
a show in the theatre, I felt amazing after having seen a good performance. The
emotion that the actors had for their show would rub off on me and I would be
ecstatic for days after, thinking about the lights, and the costumes, and the songs. I
want to do the exact same thing for other people, I want my work to inspire others
and have them be glad through it. I was in multiple productions, including 30

42. Analysis of Smash Hits Essay
Analysis of Smash Hits Smash Hits sells itself as a popular music magazine; it fits
well into this self proclaimed genre and creates its image through the codes,
conventions, and generic signifiers of that genre. For example, bright, bold lettering
the red and white titles, almost like a stamp. Generic signifiers and genre in general
are vital to both the magazine and its audience, the audience use genre as a means of
segmenting and recognition in the crowded magazine market. Genres, signifiers,...

All three covers examined are very similar in both style and content, each with an
almost identical layout. Whatever changes that do appear are few and subtle.
Audiences not only influence, but also have the ability to control the magazine and
its style. This layout and formula obviously works, and so it must continue in order
to meet audience expectations and, in turn, maintain sales profit is king . In relation
to representation, the magazine knows exactly who its target audience is, and gives
clues to this by the submission or omission of people, races, cultures and lifestyles.
The magazine includes, white, young and childish pop stars with perfect bodies and
immature behaviour. These impossible templates of beauty appeal to the young,
teenage, white, middle class, heterosexual audience as they seem to admire and
relate to those featured in the pages of Smash Hits . Smash Hits is a mid price
magazine, at ВЈ1.25. It is affordable without being too cheap. The language of the
magazine is obviously targeted at a younger, possibly less intelligent audience. It
adopts a highly colloquial register and avoids both complicated lexis and syntax, it
tries to be inclusive of the reader s thoughts and opinions, addressing them directly,
and speaking in the first person. It uses subject specific words and jargon to create an
43. Comparing Sonny s Blues And The Fire Next Time
James Baldwin s works, both Sonny s Blues and The Fire Next Time, weave the
themes of black identity, family , and religion more elegantly than I have ever
witnessed by any other writer. When reading The Fire Next Time readers witness the
disharmony and miscommunication that wedges itself between a father and son.
Baldwin, a teenager at the time, acts as many teenagers do, hoping to find various
ways to spite his father first by joining a church and becoming saved, but not his
father s church; then by insulting his father s beliefs and rules by inviting a non
christian into the familyhome, although he already anticipates his father s reaction to
such an act; and finally by joining the pulpit, although he is not a true believer.

French Revolution Influence on the Arts
Late eighteenth century France was embattled with a mix of social and political
unrest. While the austerity of the citizenry hit new heights, the aristocracy and
royalty were smitten with their luxurious, palatial surroundings. Socioeconomic
instability and polarity, during this time, influenced artists to break norms and seek
meaningful art as a way to define the period. Illiteracy in eighteenth century Europe
created opportunities for art to be a tool for encouraging revolution fervor. Over the

Artists that practiced the Romanticism style seemed to want more freedom in their
art. As Jeanne
Willette (2009) writes, artist demanded the right to freedom of expression as an art
maker, which, in these early years of Romanticism, played itself out mostly along
the lines of style and the way in which materials were handled. One of the more
significant artworks of this style is Delacroix s Liberty

45. Mark As 3.1
AS 3.1 Analyse the Meanings in a Sacred Text within a Religious Tradition
The biblical book I will be analysing is the Gospel of Mark. This is one of the four
gospels, each with a different author who are addressing different aspects of Jesus.
All believe that Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of God. In the Gospel of Mark we
have to address, through interpretation methods, such as historical/ critical analysis
and liberation theology, the revelation of the mind and heart of Jesus and his message.
This is done by Mark through the use of stories eg, Jairus daughter (Mark 5: 21 43),
parables, such as The Parable of the Sower, (Mark 4:1 20) and miracles, such as
Jesus healing the blind man Bartimaeus (Mark 8:22 25). These examples point to the
power of God within Jesus.
Part of this process is that we have to interpret different groups in the stories such
as the Pharisees, Sadducees and their understanding of God. These groups exist in
demonstrating and developing their idea of God which is in stark contrast to Jesus.
Another theme is that of the place the disciples take place in their accompanying
Jesus. What we see in Mark is that there is confusion in the minds of the disciples
they never quite seem to understand Jesus; the messianic secret is an ongoing
revelation in Mark of who Jesus really is. This revelation of Jesus is revealed
through his acts of compassion, healing and forgiveness.
The Gospel to Mark is the first written of the gospels around 65 70AD. It
46. Being A Bartender Research Paper
Bartending is a highly competitive career between young and old adults. Many
college student rely on being a bartender as their main source of income. In many
ways, some might say I have the perfect job. I succeed to work in an upbeat
atmosphere, meet new people, and sample some treasured spirits. Most of the time
you can find me laughing with guests while mixing their favorite cocktails on the
menu. I play host to their party and gatekeeper to their alcohol. Some will try to
make friends with me in hopes of free drinks in the future. Although this may sound
like the perfect career there are some disadvantages. Before quitting your day job,
here are a few points to consider. Some of the disadvantages are working late hours,
dealing with a stressful work environment, and inconsistent pay.
To begin, being a bartender will have you putting in the late night work hours. Being
a night owl is an understatement in this career. Many bars close in the early
morning, and leave the bartender to clean up the trash and spilled drinks left behind.
The last concern a barkeep would have is spending two hours cleaning after
babysitting drunk customers all night. The bartender is ... Show more content on

at the end of the night, however, this is not always the case. Sometimes you think
you have cash to spare, as a result of getting paid at the end of every shift.
Consequently, I become more of an impulse shopper. I do not think about saving
money, being that I am not waiting on a paycheck. With this in mind, there are
slow periods during the year when income can be sparse. I discontinue spending
money when I do not have the usual amount of income. I struggle through weeks
where I earn $400, and others upwards of $900. It is difficult to base your bills on
what you are earning. It is also harder to get a loan for anything because there is such

47. Reverse Osmosis for Wastewater Recycling
Reverse Osmosis For Wastewater Recycling
Reusing treated wastewater for beneficial purposes, such as agricultural and
landscape irrigation, industrial processes, toilet flushing, or groundwater basin
replenishment, is growing in response to environmental and economic concerns.
One of the key factors involved in recycling wastewater treatment plant (WWTP)
effluent for another use is the need to reduce total dissolved solids (TDS). This is
often done by using a reverse osmosis (RO) system, which relies on pressure
differential to force a solution (in this case, water) through a membrane that retains
the solute on one side and allows the pure solvent to pass to the other side.
While extremely effective on biologically treated ... Show more content on

However, upsets in the secondary clarifier can lead to effluent with higher levels of
TSS and BOD, causing plugging of the brine spacer with suspended solids and
organic fouling. Also, power consumption for RO systems with this type of
pretreatment tends to be high, and membrane life is often quite short.
Lime softening has been somewhat more successful in protecting the RO membranes,
but this increases operating costs and does not totally prevent fouling of RO
membranes. |
Ultrafiltration Improves Suspended Solids Removal As RO Pretreatment
Many of today s water reuse systems use an ultrafiltration (UF) pretreatment step to
remove suspended solids. These systems typically use hollow fiber UF membranes,
which do an excellent job of providing water with low suspended solids to feed the
RO system. However, the UF system is an extra treatment step, requiring additional
footprint, and adding to operating costs. The UF system may also be susceptible to
upsets from a conventional WWTP, which can further increase its operating costs.
Membrane Bioreactor As RO Pretreatment
With an MBR, the UF membranes are submerged in the activated sludge to
combine the biological step and the solid liquid separation into a single process.
The membrane acts as a barrier, which improves the effluent quality. The MBR
eliminates the secondary clarifier and does not rely on gravity for liquid solids
separation and so allows the activated sludge to operate with a

Biodata Test There are many forms and methods of tests that are being used during
selection process. Biodata test is a type of exam that is used in selection process
which uses background experience and behaviors to predict applicant s performance
on certain jobs. The biodata test I took was designed to predict performance on a
position in salesand customer services. The test predicts dependability, positive
customer service attitudes, retention, management potential, and performance of
an applicant. Based on score an applicant receive, the test gives recommendation to
hiring management whether an applicant is good fit for the position or not. Since
I took the test after our discussion during class, I probably had better glimpse of
what it would like than other people who took before the class. However, I was not
sure what to look for in terms of questions and answers. I have heard about various
testing methods and types that companies use for selection, and I imagined one
more similar to academic test that measures intelligence. Yet, this test was different
and some questions looked very inappropriate or illegal in some sense. The test
begun with asking basic information about me such as name and address. I was not
sure why they need address for the selection, but I had not had much of issue with it.
However, a questionasking birth day was not comfortable to answer. I am relatively
older than regular college graduates, and I would be worried if I were actually

The novel, The Maze Runner, is about a 16 year old boy, named Thomas, who
wakes up in a metal box that seems to be moving. As the darkness in the box starts
fading, Thomas realizes that he must be in an elevator. He hears harsh sounds of
chains and pulleys, which terrifies him on his way up. When Thomas reaches the
top, 2 guys named, Alby and Gally pull him out of the elevator and greet him. This
is where Thomas realizes that all of his memory was gone. Alby had told him that
his name will come back to him within three days, meanwhile, he was called
Greenie. This nickname Greenie was given to everyone who came up the elevator
that did not remember their names. After, welcoming Thomas, Alby handed him over
to this young boy named Chuck. Chuck was responsible to take Thomas for a walk
and introduce him to the Glade. The Glade is an open area of land, which is located in
the center of the maze. This is where the Gladers are forced to live and hang out.
Outside of the Glade is the maze, which is full of huge walls and vines and is the
only hope of escape for the Gladers. During the day, the doorsto the maze open up,
which allow the runners to go out and find an exit. However, during the night, the
doors close and the Grievers come out, which are huge slugs, that harass and kill
anyone that is trapped in the maze. The next day, Thomas is told to go to the forest
to grab some fertilizer. He sees a guy, named Ben, aggressively staring right at him.
Thomas asks Ben if he is okay, but Ben s response was, it is all your fault, and then
attacks him. Thomas quickly runs back to the Glade, getting away from Ben. As
Ben tackles Thomas, Newt strikes Ben in the head with a rod and punishes Ben by
throwing him in the maze for breaking one of the three rules. The rule that Ben
broke was harming another glader. The other two rules that the Glade follows are,
doing your part and never setting foot out in the maze. Alby decides to go and
explore the maze with the captain of the runners, Minho. It is now late at night and
all the Gladers are frightened, the doors to the maze are about to close, but Alby and
Minho have not returned. The walls are now starting to close, Alby and Minho are
still no where to be seen. The Gladers
50. Are Coaches Ruining A Kid s Love For Sports
Bad coaching, Ruining a kid s love for a sport Are coaches killing childrens love
for sports? Coaches play a large role in how a kid views and plays a sport. It all
depends in what type of coach they are, they could be a good and positive coach
for the child or they could be a bad coach which is a huge negative towards the
children. For example, a good coach would keep his/her voice low after a mistake
made by a player and tell him/her what they did wrong. A bad coach on the other
hand would stand up and yell at the kids singling him/her out and telling that player
they suck. Kids could quit a sport they ve loved forever because of how their
coaches handle them and the game. Coaching happens all over the world and for
all sports and at any age. With coaching being everywhere there will be bad
coaches. One instance was when coach Raul Aragon got frustrated with an umpire
at a baseball game and was thrown out. He than chased the umpire around until
police arrived, he was coach of an 8 year old baseball team. Another experience with
a bad coach is when Kevin Pope, an assistant football coach, was pointing a bb gun at
a player for having bad grades. (Mark McCarter, Terrible Coaches has too many

The biggest difference between good coaches and bad coaches is how they
influence and handle a their players. A good coach can push a kids out of their
comfort zone to make him/her play better. Good coaches also make the players a
better person in society and help them gain confidence. A good coach is a fair
coach who sees all of his athletes as equals even when some athletes are superior to
others. A bad coach does the opposite of what good coaches. They have a negative
effect on the children they coach. Bad coaches can make practice a hostile
environment pushing the kids to their mental and physical limit. Bad coaches also
cut down their players confidence rather than build it

They fought because of the massacre that he left at the mead hall. Grendel is

authors that choose to write on this topic commonly write from the heroes or the

the stories to be told from this point of view and it brings an interesting aspect in

reading from his viewpoint would be a great way to
