The Plague of American Art
The Plague of American Art In 1965, the American art scene changed forever. When the National
Endowment for the Arts came into being, there was high hopes for a more egalitarian art world
that would spread wide ranging ideas between the coasts, but, in the art world post NEA founding,
dark clouds were forming. The NEA is no longer a sustainable avenue of preserving and producing
American art.. The artshave and will survive the test of time without the National Endowment for
the Arts. According to Katherine Boyle, Individuals have always been the backbone of arts funding
(Boyle). Before 1965, the upper echelons always supported the arts. For example, the Vanderbilts
supported many starving artists like Picasso. However, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For those who say censorship is the issue at hand here, this is not censorship. This is the banning
of materials that project and ?visualize? not moral, but unlawful acts. ?A sexual torture movie,
promoting rape and other sexual crimes, is not protected by the First Amendment.? Although
the NEA s tendency to fund illegal pieces of art is disdainful, it also has a problem with reckless
spending, a government trademark. $1500 was granted to a poet who wrote the masterpiece
that is lighght ( Ten ) This piece of poetic genius consists of only one word, its title. The NEA has
a problem with discretionary spending. For what reason should a poet need $1500 to write a
one word poem? If the private sector was at the decision table for that grant, there is no way it
would fly, so why should the government spend without a care in the world? The NEA s
decisions on budget allocations are deplorable and downright sickening, but yet it has many more
issues plaguing its vile existence. Of the problems the NEA, the fact that they censor art is the
most contradictory to their mission. The NEA has an obscenity clause which allows the NEA to
not fund artworks that are obscene. This gives the government the power to say what is art and
what is not. Justice Souter of the Supreme Court in NEA v. Finley said, The decency and respect
proviso mandates

The Importance Of Characters In Fifth Business
In the novel Fifth Business, characters mark new chapters of their lives by changing their names.
Names are used to identify people in society and they are a symbol of self. The characters, Dunstan,
Boy and Paul all change their names, Dunstable to Dunstan, Percy to Boy, and Paul to Magnus.
Despite the characters attempts to change their names and personalities, Davies reveals that people
will always maintain their true identities.
Throughout the novel, Dunstan plays the role of Fifth Business even when he embarks onto a new
chapter of his life. Dunstan s major role in this book is revealing to Paul that the cause for his
mother s insanity was because Boy threw a snowball with a stone in it that hit his mother. He
says, Dunstan Ramsay counselled against revelation, but Fifth Business would not hear. Yes,
guilt. Staunton and I robbed your mother of her sanity (Davies 263). In this quote, Dunstan
claims that he is Fifth Business because he provided information that led Paul to kill Boy. Paul
was always told his birth was the cause of his mother s insanity. Her madness is what made him
leave Deptford and caused him trouble during his childhood. Later on in the conversation Dunstan
says, Fifth Business insisted on being heard again. Would this jog your memory? I asked, handing
him my old paperweight. (Davies 264). Dunstan proves he is Fifth Business again by revealing the
stone that was placed inside of the snowball. This is very important because Paul now

Mariana Trench Monologue
When most people hear the words ocean life, they think of FISH. There s more to the ocean than
a few fish. The ocean is mysterious and we don t know all of the secrets that live in it. We re here
to tell you some interesting things about the ocean. We might not answer the mysteries that live in
the ocean, but we will inform you more about the ocean and its creatures. The Bermuda Triangle,
Kraken, and Mariana Trench are some of these ocean s mysteries. The ocean has been around for
about 4.5 billion years when the Earthwas molten rock, with dangerous gas. Water remained a gas
until the earth cooled. During those times, new life had time to evolve and multiply into today s
species.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like space the ocean has no gravity when diving. Without a suit, you will most definitely die. The
only difference between the two is that in the ocean, there is always a living threat. Are you
familiar with a creature known as megalodon, cthulhu, maybe even the creature who made the
bleep? All these strange phenomenons are probably from the deepest part of the ocean, the Mariana
Trench.
The Mariana trench is a deep mystery. We still don t know what lays beneath the surface of this
unknown land. Holdbacks in our society s technology prevents us from exploring these wonders.
If we were able to acquire these tools, how would we approach the situation? Would we dive right
in, or maybe do more research? These questions may be the answer to how we discover new lands.
Cthulhu was a character created by H.P. Lovecraft ,a fictional horror writer. Cthulhu was adopted
from chthonic, a greek word meaning subterranean. The creator himself had described the
legendary creature as a vaguely anthropoid outline, but with an octopus head, scaly rubbery looking
body, protruding claws, and long narrow wings on its back. So I would definitely not want to run

West Point Cheating Scandal Case Study
West Point Cheating Scandal
Description:
In April of 1976 it was found that there was a possibility that over half of the junior class at West
Point Academy had violated the West Point honor code by cheating on a case assignment. The
honor code states A cadet will not lie, cheat, or steal, nor tolerate those who do. This was by far the
largest violation of the honor code in West Point history and presented some unusual challenges to
the administration. As the year dragged on it was found that more and more students possibly had
cheated on the assignment and was also becoming a public relations nightmare in the press and
internally to the Army branch of the United States military.
The honor code at West Point was pointed and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being accepted and going to West Point is supposed to be an honor and a challenge. All that
comes along with this honor and discipline is the fact that they are there to do an important job for
many people. This would imply that it is correct to ask them to live to a higher standard than
civilians as well as their future subordinates and the scrapping of this code would put them into the
same grouping as any other students, and these people are not just any other students. It has been
noted that the standards of the entire Army are those of West Point.
Theory:
A good applicable theory involved in this case is that of legitimate power. In legitimate power
circumstances in the military you are ordered and described in detail exactly how to do every part
of your life, someone else is in control of how you are supposed to be and act. At West Point
Academy this holds very true. The reasoning behind the legitimacy, especially at a military
academy, comes from the fact that the people involved know what they are getting into and accept
this.
At an academy you are being trained to someday be the one who will be the trainer and leader. If
you cannot follow through with procedures when and how told you will not be able to inflict
these procedures when you are in charge. The people who have gained this status have done so
through a series of steps

How Did Martin Luther Inspired John Calvinism
John Calvin John Calvin was a theologist and a pastor. He was born in France in the early
1500s. Calvin heard about Martin Luther and liked they way Martin Luther thought about
religion. Calvin wrote a book called Institutes of the Christian Religion which described his
ideas. He was very leading to Protestants, but when he attempted to go back to his hometown they
locked him in a jail for a couple of months because he talked about Lutheranism. He didn t realize
it then, but later on he becomes a person who inspired many. John went to Geneva, Switzerland
which was a Protestant city. He inspired many who were followers of him. Calvin had many ideas
which added up to Calvinism. Calvinism was a belief that means God s will is complete and chooses

Social Issues In A Modest Proposal
As a result Ireland was desperately poor country, overpopulation, full, as swift said, of beggars,
wracked periodically by famine, heavily taxed, and with no say at all in its own affairs by David
Cody introduced in an introduction to A Modest Proposal. For the senior project I will be
introducing the topic of povertyand class issue during A Modest Proposalby Jonathan Swift. In
1729, Ireland was poverty stricken and well under the impression that there wasn t people who
were able to provide for themselves. The writer portrays a sense of sympathy and the need for a
solution during the 18th century. As a result, Jonathan Swift wrote A Modest Proposal claiming
an indication that in order for families in Ireland to live a standard, comfortable life style they
would have to kill the children of the poor and feed them to Ireland s rich land owners. This idea
was brought up to view the fear of overpopulation, limiting rights of the Irish and the effect of penal
laws during the 18th century and in A Modest Proposal.
As Swift is satirically writing, he introduces an idea that brings up a religious aspect as well as a
fear of over population in Ireland. Immediately, Jonathan Swift conveys a plain argument that is
supposed to help the people of Ireland; with the intention of killing the Irish s children so that they
can benefit the rest of the world. Furthermore, the writer speaks upon the matter at hand there are
more children born in Roman Catholic countries about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Crime Control Model Of The Ryan Ferguson Essay
In a perfect world every person s rights would never be compromised, within a society that is
free of crime. Everyone would be equal and treated fairly. Unfortunately this is not the case, our
system was created to serve and to protect the lives and rights of every American. Although, the
scary reality is that not everyone s rights are always protected and some are even wrongfully
convicted of crimes he or she is innocent of. This is an unnerving concept that seems like a plot to
a popular crimefighting show. Sadly, this possibility was a reality for a man named Ryan
Ferguson. Three key factors of the Ryan Ferguson case are: the Crime Control Model, the role of
evidence, and the role of Appellate courts.
The Crime Control Model demonstrates a specific viewpoint of prevention and deterrence of crime
which means, the most important function of the criminal justice process to punish and repress
criminal conduct, (Gaines, Kaune, and LeRoy,17). This means that a person who aliens with this
model, will ensure someone gets charged for the crime committed. If more and more criminals are
taken off of the streets, the justice system ultimately is successful in protecting it s society
members. A known criminal could be convicted of a crime that he or she did not commit, but
according to this model, as long as criminals are getting punished and removed the system is doing
its job. In the Ryan Ferguson case, it is clear that Prosecutor Crain aligned with the Crime Control
model.

John Wesley Movement Of Grace
The principle element of John Wesley s theology is the supernatural working of God s grace. As
developed by Collins, for Wesley the Christian life was a journey made only possible by the
working of God s grace (Collins, 2007). Through the entire work of God and man, God s nature
of grace is evident. Wesley describes the movement of God s grace in and through man in what
he describes as the Via Salutis or the Way of Salvation. Furthermore, the Via Salutis address
several facets of grace that Wesley identifies, including; prevenient grace, convincing grace, saving
grace, assurance, sanctifying grace and glorifying grace (Collins, 2007). The movement of grace is

Wesley s intent is clear. There is a maturing and yielding process that every follower of Christ
must submit to in order to discover the depth and riches of God s love. As Mulholland describes
(Mulholland Barton, 2017), there is a great union to be had between God and man. Within that
union is the transforming power to discover oneness with God. A union that creates oneness that
relinquishes self control and yields to the eternal transforming power of God s grace. Further this
process of yielding, uniting, maturing, and pursuing is the central theme of Wesley s desire for
every man, woman, and child to experience the depth of God s holy

Blackwood Vs Holmes
ВЁ You see, but you do not observe. The distinction is clear. this quote from A Scandal in Bohemia
shows that some people do not observe, they just look at the obvious. All the clues and hint that are

stories and the films that we watched in class. Both of these movies, Sherlock Holmes and The
Great Mouse Detective, have antagonists that are represented in different ways.
In the movie Sherlock Holmes the villain is named Blackwood and in The Great Mouse Detective
the villain is Professor Ratigan. In all of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s stories there is always a
villain or a suspect. Blackwood in the film Sherlock Holmes and Professor Ratigan in The Great
Mouse Detective were both out to achieve a similar goal . Both of the characters in these movies

Hundreds of years of ethnic violence are dredged up at every meet; everyone thinks theirs is the
just cause. From my impartial view there is more than enough blame to go around for all sides .
Milosevic came in to power in Yugoslavia because of his adept timing to use the 1987 protest by
promoting Serbian nationalism on national television. Milosevic adamantly stated in the interview
that none of his books and speeches discussed a strictly Serbian state. The concept of Greater
Serbia was conceived in 1884 Ilika Garasanin and was the credo for the secret Serb nationalist
group the Black Hand who assassinated Franz Ferdinand . Emulating the same opinion from the
Garasanin writing, Milosevic tried to create a Serbia that had complete control over the
Yugoslavian area and discredited any country that tried to exempt itself out of the reaches of
Serbian control. Bosnia and Herzegovina was illegally proclaimed as an independent state and
recognized.
Nationalism had been voiced many time s by Milosevic which he uses to voice out against the
Bosnian state. With the help from Karadzic another person who was indicted for war crimes,
Milosevic was able to gain a stronger foothold in Bosnia Herzegovina. Rape camps were used and
created to eliminate the Bosniak bloodline. Thousands of Muslim and Croatian girls and women
were raped and made forcibly pregnant in settings including Serbian run concentration camps, of
which about twenty are solely rape/death camps

Rhetorical Analysis Of George Patton s Speech
The fear of killing and being killed in battle is no easy thing to contemplate or to inspire.
Inspiring soldiers to participate earnestly in battle is crucial to winning wars. Approaches to
accomplish this have been studied and tried by military leaders for millennia. George S. Patton
attempted this very thing in his speech to the Third Army. Patton delivered a profane and vulgar
speech to untried soldiers who have yet to see combat. Patton is able to inspire his soldiers by
using his reputation while dismantling his authority, using obscene humor, and appealing to their
sense of honor and courage. George Patton was a senior officer and commander of the U.S.
Seventh Army during World War II. One of the pioneers in tank warfare, Patton became best
known as the most effective general of World War II. Patton led American forces to significant
victories on the fronts of North Africa, Sicily, and Europe. Before the European invasion, Patton,
along with a major build up of Allied forces was covertly preparing for the first assaults on
German occupied Normandy, France. General Patton s speech to the Third Army was given on
June 5, 1944, in the United Kingdom on the eve of the Allied invasion of Europe (National
Endowment for the Humanities, n.a.). This famous speech was given to the soldiers under his
command. The speech was delivered as a motivational device by Patton in order to inspire and
solidify his men for upcoming challenges. Throughout Patton s speech, harsh and foul language is
used abundantly. The speech begins with Patton identifying the American public opinion of not
wanting to enter the war. Patton refuses this and establishes Americans as wanting to fight, and
instilling American pride into his audience. Patton then addresses the men s fears of dying and
killing but shadows it with their duty to country, and honor to their manhood. The speech then
moves to the importance of being a team and how every man has a crucial part to play, whether it
be a truck driver or infantryman. Patton then feels the need to quickly remind everyone that his
presence in England is to remain a secret. After this, he reinstates the mission and why they are
here. They are here to defeat the Germans in Europe, then move

Ponyboy is good and needs to stay that way. The book and movie have many similarities and

One of these themes is stay gold or otherwise stay young and innocent. When you re a kid

explains how when you re a kid and innocent everything is new and good. He talks about how
Ponyboy likes sunsets, just like a young innocent kid, it s gold, it s good. We couldn t watch the
sunsets, since the back faced east, but I loved to look at the colors of the fields and the soft
shadings of the horizon. This is gold because just like in the quote before they look at the sunset

friends. He beating him up, and was the gang s pet, everyone s kid brother. His father was always
beating him up, and his mother ignored him... This shows that the gang was there for him because
his parents weren t, that they were his family for him, that they cared about him and that they

Nursing Code Of Ethics, Personal And Societal Values, And...
Working in the nursing profession, nurses must be prepared to assess and support the diverse
needs of the patient and their family. Every nurse, regardless of his or her specialty, encounters
ethical challenges. However, public health nurses may face unique challenges in their distinct focus
on the health of the population in addition to individuals (Haugh Mildon, 2005). In this research
paper, I will consider two case studies from the perspective of the nursing code of ethics, personal
and societal values, and the legal aspects and responsibilities of the nurse.
The Nursing Code of Ethics According to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of
Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (2015), the code establishes the ethical standard
for the profession and provides a guide for nurses to use in ethical analysis and decision making

Introduction
Ideas are like children, all different, and inventors are like parents, all of whom have a vested
interest in their progeny s success. Some parents encourage free expression and exploration, while
others hover. (Source?)
The innovative process may start as a dream, an idea, or thought that is fleeting and that needs to
be nurtured and brought forth. The Cleveland Clinic has a process to foster the new ideas and

Reaction Paper About Stress
Stress is how the brain and body respond to any change that requires an adjustment or response.
Throughout our lives we have been told by our friends and family that we need to minimize our
stress and manage it before it gets too out of hand. This leads to us looking at stress as a terrible
thing that will ruin our lives. Everyone is affected by stressand it is something that is a part of our
daily lives. The key thing to remember is that stress is not always a bad thing. It has been proven
that looking at stress as a good thing rather than a bad thing can actually make you stress less.
There are two main types of stress. Eustress, which is the good stress, and distress which is the bad
stress. Dealing with the eustress is what most people will think is relatively easy as you don t
have to do anything about it and don t have to get rid of it., it s the distress that people tend to
have issues controlling. Being stressed for a long period of time can lead to a number of different
problems such as anxiety. It is important to recognize that you are stressed, figure out exactly what
is stressing you out, and then act according to what your stressor is. In order to minimize or even
get rid of your stress and anxiety, you will need to know the symptoms, common stressors, and
when, where, and how to seek professional help.
Stress and anxiety is something that can be very hard to recognize in ourselves. People tend to deny
that they are stressed, or even just mistake the symptoms

Jevon Carter Character Traits
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. There is no question what Jevon Carter means to the West Virginia

decisive constituent of the Mountaineers defense. Carter averages 11.8 points, 4.4 rebounds,

The Skeptic Theory of Morality in International Relations...
Introduction: Nuclear bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, not answering the call for help in
Rwanda, allowing Germany to take over Czechoslovakia, supporting the creation of the state of
Israel, giving out loans (with interest) to developing countries, and the creation of the United
Nations are all forms of international interference and cooperation amongst states. When looking at
these examples and many more, it begs the question, does moralityplay a role in international affairs
of a state? George Kennan, a prominent Skeptic, would argue that in international politics other
criteria, sadder, more limited, more practical, must be allowed to prevail. In this essay, I will first
present the Skeptic argument that morality either... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These societies would then form into hierarchical civilizations leading to the modern state where
laws and rules can not only be made but enforced to make peace and order is kept within the
state. (Forde, 15) In the international arena, there is no hierarchical rule to keep states in line or
behaved; meaning that the international system is constantly in anarchy, aka the state of
nature. This lack of rule enforcement puts states in a constant state of war, in a constant state
where they need to stay on guard and in a tactical advantage otherwise the safety and well being
of their state will be in jeopardy. In this scenario, the state s number one priority is to protect
itself and act in its self interest when need be, despite if it would typically be deemed immoral.
(Donnelly 20) Machiavelli would go so far that it is within every right for more powerful states
to conquer and subjugate weaker states because if another was to conquer that weaker state, they
may have the advantage over you and destroy your state. Preemptive strikes, imperialism, and
unprovoked wars are fully justified to Machiavelli because you either conquer or wait till your
enemy attacks you. To some skeptics, acting in self interest is the only form of morality in the state
of nature. (Forde, 9) Thucydides creates a moral argument that there is no justice between states of
unequal power, and it is actually immoral for weaker states to resist

2.Annual cost increase of 3.0 percent and price increases of 4.0 percent beginning in 1998 99.

The Strength Of The Solid Ball
The solid ball was typically used against forts and other artillery pieces. The grape shot and
canister shot were utilized as anti personnel munitions. The Garrison Cannon used three different
types of shells; hot shot, chain shot and bar shot. Hot shots were cannonballs that were heated
until they were glowing red and then fired at ships to set them ablaze. Chain shot and bar shot
consisted of two cannon balls connected by either a chain or bar. They were designed to destroy
ships rigging. The mortar used only one type of shell, the bomb. The bomb was a hollow shell that
was filled with black powder and had a fuse. The howitzer utilized hollow shot and anti personnel
munitions.

The stage was set for decisive military action. In September 1781, Washington was in Yorktown

Social Performance of Organization 2
Abstract
Corporate social responsibility is a crucial factor for corporations to build sustainability of their
business process that will help to create shared values for companies and society. Iraq is one of the
most countries in the world that needs this kind of sustainability to build and reform the
infrastructure economically and socially. But, unfortunately, the facts on the ground are quite the
opposite, and these corporations got affected by the corruption that has been eroding the country
for years. In this study I will try to spot the light on how these companies have been profiting in
Iraq and escaping their social responsibilities, also how can the stakeholders influence the financial
performance of these enterprises. I will explain about (Zain Iraq) and how it is doing a good job
comparing it to other big corporations in the country. Will suggest five ways in which the primary
stakeholders can influence the financial performance of the company.
This report will also explain about one of the main controversial social concern associated with this
company.

If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each
have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each

This quote describes how the wise traders thought when trading. They knew that trading a fair trade
wouldn t be as significant as it would with sharing ideas. The effects that occurred in Europe and
began the overseas discoveries and European expansion, started a new and different world. The
Europeans had an easier way of receiving goods, without going through problems. The impact of

Although conformity and compliance are relatively similar, they too, have differences.
Compliance is a specific response to a specific request, while conformity generally involves
unspoken pressure to behave in a particular manner. Generally, compliance involves request which
could be explicit such as using the foot in the door technique. Most of the time, in compliance, the
child is told to respond or complete the task told in a desirable manner; while in conformity, a
person is expected to behave in a particular manner (Cialdini and Trost, 1998).
Compliance plays a major role in building and maintaining relationships where children learn to
behave in a certain manner to maintain status quo (Cialdini and Trost, 1998). When we comply
with an instruction, we receive praises, or lavished with social acceptance and gifts. By doing so,
the children feel accepted, wanted and loved by other peers. In a way, compliance acts as a form
of conditioning the behavior expected from their peers (Cialdini and Trost, 1998).
It is easy to view compliance as a form of concession due to the obligation children might have
towards their peers. Studies have found that with compliance, children tend to bend towards peer
pressure and it has a significant effect towards negative behavior (Adams et al, 2000; Fanti and
Henrich, 2010). This isn t surprising, as children

An Analysis Of An Opera By Georges Bizet
Carmen is an opera by Georges Bizet that adeptly portrays the story of the same title by Prosper
MГ©rimГ©e. It is most well known for its two arias, Habanera and the Toreador Song. Through the
music, Bizet conveys many feelings through the portrayal the common man rather than the
aristocrats, which was revolutionary in the operatic world. Despite being composed in the Romantic
era, the subject matter of the operais more similar to the Realist movement of the 19th century.
Since the beginning of his life, Bizet showed precocious ability in musicand at the age of 10 was
admitted to the [Paris Conservatory of Music] ( Georges Bizet ). He continued to refine his musical
talent and ended up winning the Prix de Rome, which allowed him to spend... Show more content

The use of chromaticism in his music demonstrates mastery of compositional techniques.
Besides this, Bizet s dedication to learning all the techniques of Spanish music is incredible.
According to one source, Bizet had gone to some lengths to familiarize himself with the musical
sounds and forms of the region in which Carmen is set, and several of the best known portions
use rhythms he learned from those studies (Schwarm). This dedication allowed Bizet to master
the Spanish Habanera dance despite never having gone to Spain, helping to make it one of the
most well known pieces in operatic history. His mastery of musical techniques and his dedication
to his music allowed him to compose Carmen and refine it into a masterpiece. In addition to the
imaginative techniques, the plot of Carmen is revolutionary. Unlike other operas of its time, it
focuses on the lower class. Carmen is known for its defiantly sexual leading female character
and its non heroic portrayal of a wide slice of society ( Bizet, Georges ). As well as this, the
undeniable realism of the portrayal of the gypsies, smugglers, and factory workers was not well
received (Schwarm). This innovation, although originally not well received, helped it become one
of the five most performed operas in the world. Because opera in that time generally tendered to
the nobility and the sophisticated, having the focus being on the lower class did not end up well.

Comparing Kenny And Byron
Kenny and Byron are both very similar and different. They have similarities like being able to
tease people and also like feeling sorry for things and people. They re also very different as well.
Byron often tries to act cool and tries to not show any emotion. Kenny on the other hand, tends to
show his emotion freely. Byron also doesn t do very well in school, unlike Kenny who seems to
thrive in school. Kenny could easily be described as inspired. Kenny displays this with his
interaction with other characters. For example, he went to talk with his father in the bathroom
when his dad was shaving. At that moment Kenny had said that he was also growing mustache. I
believe that this is because Kenny looks up to his father and wants to be like him. Another example

Byron shows this characteristic as he interacts with other characters in the story. For example,
Byron eventually throws a Swedish Creme cookie at a bird which ends up killing it. He gets
extremely upset with himself from this event. That is shown because of him throwing up,
crying, and then having a funeral for the bird. Then in many other experiences Byron carelessly
beats up kids not feeling bad afterwards whatsoever. This shows that he is ambivalent because
he has mixed feelings about injury and death. He carelessly beats up kids but then when it comes
to killing a bird he has a huge breakdown. Another example would be his feelings and action
towards Kenny. Sometimes he will be nice and brotherlike with Kenny, but then other times he
turns around and then ends up beating up Kenny. When Kenny goes to Byron s class and reads
after school Byron in a way congratulates Kenny. Then in other instances like How to survive a
blizzard Byron seems to be a completely different person and causes harm to Kenny with his friend
Buphead. This also shows that he is ambivalent because he treats Kenny nicely one second and then
the next second he s teasing or beating him

being official along with Spanish, is recognized as the Basque People s own language and
650,000 people speak it. In schools the children learn almost exclusively in Basque. Even the
nationality is set in the Spanish constitution, the Statute of Autonomy of the Basque Country
defines, in its article, that the people living in the 7 regions as: the Basque People or Euskal

in Spain yet hard to access.
It feels the need for autonomy and self determination due to the specialism of its language and
nationality which is different to that of Spain and France. With the area being inaccessible it needs
to set up its own ports and economy which is strong with Bilbao the capital of the Basque region
being the chief industrial place in Spain. Also Victoria is the city of exception urban design.

advertised autonomy for votes and support and were given regional autonomy by the republican

How The American Revolution Changed The Country
In American history, many events have changed the country; in spite of wars, attacks, and disasters;
people still have hope for a bright future. The American Revolution (1775 1783) is also known as

Western Literature Makes its Way to the Big Screen in the...
While Western Literature conforms to the ever expanding needs of society by breaking away
from the book to make its way to the big screen, it still relies on some of the most classic of
stories, ironically, stories usually hailing from the East. The Matrix serves as a standing example
of this relationship, in that it effectively paves way in the Western world while relying on the
Eastern classic known as the Bible, especially in the area of theme . Like the story of Christ, The
Matrixtells the story of a man, not meant for the world he is in, but to instead, save the world he
is in. While The Matrix is an original story, much inspiration was clearly drawn upon from the
Bible as more than obvious Biblical parallels are scattered throughout the film and serve a greater
purpose than that which the naked mind might understand, all while simultaneously utilizing a
range of technical effects to further its purpose. The Matrix was released in 1999 by the studio
Village Roadshow Pictures under the helm of director/producer duo the Wachowski Brothers. The
movie opened to critical acclaim grossing $465 million worldwide, far surpassing the film s
budget. The film features Keanu Reeves as Neo, the story s protagonist, Laurence Fishburne as
Morpheus, Neo s guidance, and Hugo Weaving as Agent Smith, the story s antagonist, with
supporting cast members such as Carrie Anne Moss (Trinity), Gloria Foster (Oracle), and Joe
Pantoliano (Cipher). The film is set in a present day city (which

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Are A Type Of Disease
Sexually transmitted diseases are a type of disease that can be passed from person to person by
many forms of sexual contact. These different forms of contact can be oral, anal, or vaginal. STDs
are seen in different forms such as bumps, rashes, or unseen to the naked eye. Some common STDs
are chlamydia, herpes, syphilis, and HIV/AIDS. A person of any gender, race, or age can get an
STD but there is different stigma attached to that person depending on their gender. Gender
influences people to view the STD and that person who has it differently. This paper is set out to
find why gender affects people s views of STDs and how moral panic can set in depending on
the STD. The topic of women and STDs are not a good mix when it comes to society s opinions.
According to the article titled Damaged goods: women managing the stigma of STDs To
understand the individual level experience of living with a chronic STD, it is important to take
into account how these infections are symbolically constructed in American culture. (Nack, A p.
97) There is a certain stigma against women who have had or currently have an STD. A stigma
is a set of negative and often unfair beliefs that a society or group of people have about
something. (Meriam Webster) This stigma is attached to women because they are considered to
be damaged goods when they have or had an STD. This feeling of being damaged can come from
the woman herself or others. When a woman has an STD she can lose her sexual identity

Sustainable Tourism In Ugand Principles Of Sustainable...
1.Introduction
Sustainable tourism is a very important element today because it not only meets the needs of the
present but also protecting and increasing opportunities of destinations for the future. Uganda (M.
Semakula M. Kiwanuka, 2017) is a country located in east central Africa, which has diverse
ecosystems such as rainforest jungles, high volcanic mountains on the border or the Albert Nile
River swamps. However, for many years Uganda has stagnated progress and development due to
political problems, environmental degradation and the spread of AIDS epidemic. By the beginning
of the 21st century, Uganda has taken new steps in political stability and gradually resolved its
remaining problems and became Africa s fastest growing economy. This paper is going to discuss
about the key issues and challenges in managing Uganda in term of two principles of sustainable
development (responsibility and responsible citizenship) in context to sustainable host communities
and collaborative partnerships.
2.The key issues and challenges in managing
According to Michael Campbell (Director of University of Manitoba) (Youtube, 2013), the key
issues in Uganda are deforestation and disappearance of some wildlife. Deforestation is an
alarming situation in Uganda. Mr. Michael Campbell mentioned that he was a witness for change
in Uganda. During his first trip to Uganda he still saw rainforest from Mubende to Fort Portal, but
recent trips he saw many forests have been lost and replaced with

Financial Instruments Other Than Temporary Impairment 1. For the following investments,
determine if OTT should record an other than temporary impairment as of December 31, 20X1, and
if so, for what amount:
Happy New Year amp; Co.
* Since the fair value of investment is less than its cost, the Company should proceed to step 2 for
identifying and accounting for impairment. However, there is no indication that OTT does not
expect the fair value of the security to fully recover before the expected time of sale. The Company
actually does not believe the decline in price to be permanent. In addition, it does not intend to sell

* It should be the entire difference between the investment s cost and its fair value at the balance
sheet date of the reporting period for which the assessment is made. So, the recorded amount is
(100 72) * 50 = $1,400.
(FASB 320 10 35 34)
3. Assume the same facts as in 2 above, but that OTT has not yet determined whether an impairment
exists or the amount of any possible impairment. For March Madness Incorporated, would OTT still
conclude that the investment is other than temporarily impaired, and would the impairment charge
as of December 31, 20X1, be different if the stock price at issuance of the financial statements (i.e.,
as of January 31, 20X2) was $95 and not $75?
* Unless it is clear that the impairment is deemed other than temporary, we cannot conclude that the
investment is other than temporarily impaired. For the second part of the question, the charge will
not be different because it depends on the fair value at the balance sheet date, not the issuance date.
(FASB 320 10 35 33 and 34)
4. For Tohoku Toys, determine if OTT should record an other than temporary impairment as of
December 31, 20X1.
* OTT does not believe that the restructuring will ultimately be successful. So, an other than
temporary impairment should be considered to have occurred if the Company intends to sell them
or not.

Dispositional Optimism Research Paper
Utilizing Dispositional Optimism Life is tough. Life forces humans to endure in a universe that
may be completely random and nothing in it may hold any meaning aside from the arbitrary value
that I attribute. Moreover, if nothing means anything in life, then there is no true reason in living.
We are all just postponing the inevitable great equalizer we call death. Why not just skip the
hardship, pain, and suffering that exists in this world and get straight to a place where we cannot
feel its horrors anymore? When thinking thoughts such as these, I expect to find that such a
negative, pessimistic disposition might not yield beneficial results. Conversely, one might infer that

Two-Way Billingual Immersion Programs Create...
Two way bilingual immersion programs not only create higher achieving students, but also more
equipped and confident students. Academically, TWBI students receive higher grades because of
the curriculum. Furthermore, 87% to 93% of past TWBI students stated they would not drop out
(Lindholm Leary). Indeed, the knowledge gained allows students to become more resilient,
adapting to the new language; independent, figuring out the language themselves; and confident,
taking pride in bilingualism. The TWBI program not only teaches another language, but also
another culture. One of the programs goals gears students toward culture awareness by exposing

The programs should also start from Kindergarten to Eighth grade, so students can not only have
sufficient time to become bilingual, but also have the opportunity to either continue that language
in advance placement classes in high school or learn another language in their four years of high
school. The program will function with at least thirty percent of one language group with the other
language group in the same class room, despite the program s preference for half and half (AlanГs
RodrГguez). There are two different types of two way immersion to choose: 90:10 and 50:50.
90:10 programs commence with 90% instruction of the foreign language, gradually leveling to
50:50 by fourth grade. In the 50:50 model, both languages receive equal amount of time across all
eight years. While both types of programs allow students to perform higher on test than any other
program, 90:10 students tend to score higher and be more fully bilingual than students in 50:50

of Gwen, Coral and Tom. The three gainsight and knowledge into their lives through the different

As a result of Gwen s upbringing in the depression, she consequently places a false value upon
materialistic goods. At the night of the play, Gwen asks Meg Why did you have to do Shakespeare
for? We couldn t see a blessed thing . Through her dialogue in relation to the Shakespearean
allusion, this displays that Gwen resists the emotional depth that Shakespeare represents, and that
she is metaphorically blind. Once Gwen discovers the knowledge about Tom s condition, she gains
sight, and is no longer metaphorically blind to reality. Through her sight, she realizes that family is
more important than placing a false value on materialistic goods. This idea of discovery has been
explored through relationships and events which significantly impacted on her new found
knowledge and sight.
Tom, the agent for change gains sight and knowledge into the acceptance of his impending death.
The opening of the play starts with the ending of A Midsummer Night s Dream where Tom as
Puck says Gentles, do not reprehend. If you pardon, we will mend. This foreshadows Tom s
healing role in the play. Although Tom seems to be the character in the least need of a discovery,
he still gains sight into the reality of his condition and knowledge that he needs to accept this. This
is evident through reading King Lear. The scene is set outside, as instructed by

Anterior Cruciate Ligamentous Injury Analysis
Introduction
The most common ligamentous injury to the knee is injury to the anterior cruciate ligament
(ACL) (Teske 2010), and it is the second most common injury in the lower extremity. It has become
so common of an injury that 1 in 3000 individuals in the United States will be affected with an
ACL tear (Micheo 2010) and there are 200,000 new cases per year (Wilk 2012). It is most
commonly seen in people 15 30 years of age (Teske 2010). It is also more common in females than
males (Fayad 2003, Teske 2010, Bowerman 2006). This is due to increased jointlaxity in post
pubescent females compared to post pubescent males (Bowerman 2006) and differences in muscle
activation. Males tend to have a more balanced quadriceps to hamstrings ratio ... Show more content

If a knee is hit from the outside, especially while the foot is planted, it will be forced into genu
valgus. This puts several structures at risk, namely the ACL, MCL and joint capsule. These
structures specifically prevent valgus forces and are expected to be damaged when subjected to
excessive genu valgus. The nature of the force can also damage the bones because valgus will
cause the lateral condyles of the femur and tibia to be compressed while the medial condyles
will be distracted. This can result in bruising of the bone or damage to articular cartilage of the
compressed side. In addition, the menisci can be involved depending on the direction of the
force, especially if rotation occurs. The lateral meniscus can be damaged without rotation if it is
compressed between the condyles or with rotation by getting torqued between the condyles. The
medial meniscus is at a lesser risk of being damaged due to compression because the medial
condyles are being distracted from one another. However, because it has attachments to both the
ACL and MCL, if one or both of those are damaged, the medial meniscus is at risk. Therefore, a 20
year old male rugby player who was side tackled may very well present with a torn ACL, MCL, and

Theme Of Love In Bisclavret
While the theme of love itself, may it be positive or negative, is reoccurring, Marie s presentation
of romantic relationships and their differing qualities can be considered a theme alone. In
Guigemar , the relationship between the knight and his lady represents loyalty, and an ability to
heal or cure. Yet, the relationship between the beast and his wife in Bisclavret demonstrates the
selfish and traitorous behavior that can occur between partners, especially if one has proved to be
adulterous. In Guigemar , the son of Hoel, is a noble man immune to the feelings of love, basically
having no romantic interests in the women who come his way. His remaining indifference
continues until he wounds a doe, who places a curse on him after he, himself is injured by his own
hand. The curse placed upon a man who shows indifference to love causes Guigemar to be quite
pessimistic that any womancould love him enough to not only heal him, but suffer for him as
well. However, he seeks refuge aboard a ship at the harbor to rest which leads him to the castle
of an aged lord and his wife, who fled from the room she was locked inside within the castle.
Discovering the nearly dead Guigemar, the lady vows to nurse him back to health with the help of
her female companion, but it is under her care that Guigemar is struck with love, overwhelmed
with his newly found emotions towards the woman who has his heart. The two lovebirds, confess

Servant Evangelism Research Paper
The dirty work of evangelism in regards to my conversion is not really applicable since I was
brought up in church and saved at the age of seven. I am sure there were things that went along
with the work of evangelism in my life that I am unaware of. The discipline of servant evangelism
is a critical need that has been neglected for years. Some churches have started doing it but most
still want to hold to the historical ways of outreach that do not seem to work. Servant evangelism
teaches that one must be willing, just as Jesuswas, to get their hands dirty in order to see the lost
saved. According to Will McRaney personal evangelism involves the effective communication of
the essential gospel message with the view of seeing people supernaturally become followers and
imitators of Christ. How is one to truly and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is this testimony of faith in Christ that helps break down the barrier that stands in between the
believer and unbeliever so often. As we have heard in our lectures, the way Jesus did evangelism
was modeled in the way he lived. Jesus was intentional about his witness as should be the
believer. He looked for opportunities to show his love. The believer needs to adapt this into
their daily life in order to help clear up the wrong perspectives of the gospel. My emerging
biblical theology of evangelism is being enhanced in seeing different and more exciting ways to
share the gospel. In order to change the view of many concerning the gospel we must let people
see that they do not need to wash their hands after shaking the hand of a religious person. The
believer does not need to become like the unbeliever but does not need to be seen as a pious,
egotistical,

Why Do British Soldiers Wear Uniform
A common myth that I chose was the myth regarding the British Soldiers and their red coats.
The myth was the explanation of why the British soldiers wore red coats. The myth back then
and that is still circulating is that the British soldiers wore red coats so their enemies could not
see blood on them when they were injured. Ultimately, if you didn t have a knowledge of the
exact reason, you would automatically assume it was a war tactic. It would make sense in
preventing one soldier or another to be sought out because of an injury (weakness) making them
an easy target. Let s look at the myth of the British Soldiers, the reason behind their red coats and
why this myth still circulates today. First, let s discuss the myth of the British soldiers. Their
uniforms they were red and white. The majority of their uniform was white. So rationally
speaking, it wouldn t make sense. In fact, the uniform would need to be almost all red to meet this
myth. If the uniform was all red would blood still show up on it? Many already know that or have

Trigonometry Lab Report
For this experiment, two ionic, NaCl and KI, and two molecular, fructose and sucrose, unknown
compounds were determined based on molecular weight. This was calculated when the freezing
points were depressed in aqueous solutions. The resulting freezing points helped determine the four
unknowns by calculating the various solutions molecular weights from the average normalized
freezing points. After this, the percent error was calculated by comparing the data from the
experiment to the normalized freezing points. One thing during this experiment that could be
changed is to use a bigger beaker and vial, so it is easier to stir when the ice begins to form at the
bottom of the vial. This also would reduce the amount of the supercooling seen in Part... Show more

First, the normalized freezing points for unknowns 3 and 4 were 2.8 degrees Celsius and 3.0
degrees Celsius, respectively. The van t Hoff factor was one because the solid does not break
apart, and it remains as one particle. The molalities were 1.505 mol/kg for unknown 3 and for
unknown 4 it was 1.613 mol/kg. In the second step, the unknown number of moles of each
unknown was determined by using molality. This was calculated by dividing the molality
determined in step one by 20 mL of water solvent. The volume was converted by knowing that 1
L = 1 kg. With this, the volume was determined by dividing 20 mL by 1000 mL to get .02 L This
allowed for both kg units to cancel out and to only leave moles of solute. The number of moles
calculated for unknown 3 was .0133 moles and for unknown 4 it was .0124 moles. These values
were then used to find the molecular weight by dividing the theoretical mass of 5 g which was
given by the number of moles calculated. The calculated molecular weights for unknowns 3 and 4
were 375.94 g/mole and 403.23 g/mole, respectively. The actual molecular weight for fructose is
180.17 g/mole and for sucrose it is 342.2965 g/mole. With this, unknown 3 was fructose and
unknown 4 was sucrose. Therefore, with this information, the unknown 3 used within the
experiment was fructose. As shown in Figure 3, the temperatures are recorded during the

  • 3. The Plague of American Art The Plague of American Art In 1965, the American art scene changed forever. When the National Endowment for the Arts came into being, there was high hopes for a more egalitarian art world that would spread wide ranging ideas between the coasts, but, in the art world post NEA founding, dark clouds were forming. The NEA is no longer a sustainable avenue of preserving and producing American art.. The artshave and will survive the test of time without the National Endowment for the Arts. According to Katherine Boyle, Individuals have always been the backbone of arts funding (Boyle). Before 1965, the upper echelons always supported the arts. For example, the Vanderbilts supported many starving artists like Picasso. However, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the NEA s tendency to fund illegal pieces of art is disdainful, it also has a problem with reckless spending, a government trademark. $1500 was granted to a poet who wrote the masterpiece that is lighght ( Ten ) This piece of poetic genius consists of only one word, its title. The NEA has a problem with discretionary spending. For what reason should a poet need $1500 to write a one word poem? If the private sector was at the decision table for that grant, there is no way it would fly, so why should the government spend without a care in the world? The NEA s decisions on budget allocations are deplorable and downright sickening, but yet it has many more issues plaguing its vile existence. Of the problems the NEA, the fact that they censor art is the most contradictory to their mission. The NEA has an obscenity clause which allows the NEA to not fund artworks that are obscene. This gives the government the power to say what is art and what is not. Justice Souter of the Supreme Court in NEA v. Finley said, The decency and respect proviso mandates ... Names are used to identify people in society and they are a symbol of self. The characters, Dunstan, Boy and Paul all change their names, Dunstable to Dunstan, Percy to Boy, and Paul to Magnus. Despite the characters attempts to change their names and personalities, Davies reveals that people will always maintain their true identities. Throughout the novel, Dunstan plays the role of Fifth Business even when he embarks onto a new chapter of his life. Dunstan s major role in this book is revealing to Paul that the cause for his mother s insanity was because Boy threw a snowball with a stone in it that hit his mother. He says, Dunstan Ramsay counselled against revelation, but Fifth Business would not hear. Yes, guilt. Staunton and I robbed your mother of her sanity (Davies 263). In this quote, Dunstan claims that he is Fifth Business because he provided information that led Paul to kill Boy. Paul was always told his birth was the cause of his mother s insanity. Her madness is what made him leave Deptford and caused him trouble during his childhood. Later on in the conversation Dunstan says, Fifth Business insisted on being heard again. Would this jog your memory? I asked, handing him my old paperweight. (Davies 264). Dunstan proves he is Fifth Business again by revealing the stone that was placed inside of the snowball. West Point Cheating Scandal Case Study West Point Cheating Scandal Description: In April of 1976 it was found that there was a possibility that over half of the junior class at West Point Academy had violated the West Point honor code by cheating on a case assignment. The honor code states A cadet will not lie, cheat, or steal, nor tolerate those who do. This was by far the largest violation of the honor code in West Point history and presented some unusual challenges to the administration. As the year dragged on it was found that more and more students possibly had cheated on the assignment and was also becoming a public relations nightmare in the press and internally to the Army branch of the United States military. This would imply that it is correct to ask them to live to a higher standard than civilians as well as their future subordinates and the scrapping of this code would put them into the same grouping as any other students, and these people are not just any other students. It has been noted that the standards of the entire Army are those of West Point. Theory: A good applicable theory involved in this case is that of legitimate power. In legitimate power circumstances in the military you are ordered and described in detail exactly how to do every part of your life, someone else is in control of how you are supposed to be and act. At West Point Academy this holds very true. The reasoning behind the legitimacy, especially at a military academy, comes from the fact that the people involved know what they are getting into and accept this. At an academy you are being trained to someday be the one who will be the trainer and leader. Social Issues In A Modest Proposal As a result Ireland was desperately poor country, overpopulation, full, as swift said, of beggars, wracked periodically by famine, heavily taxed, and with no say at all in its own affairs by David Cody introduced in an introduction to A Modest Proposal. For the senior project I will be introducing the topic of povertyand class issue during A Modest Proposalby Jonathan Swift. In 1729, Ireland was poverty stricken and well under the impression that there wasn t people who were able to provide for themselves. The writer portrays a sense of sympathy and the need for a solution during the 18th century. As a result, Jonathan Swift wrote A Modest Proposal claiming an indication that in order for families in Ireland to live a standard, comfortable life style they would have to kill the children of the poor and feed them to Ireland s rich land owners. This idea was brought up to view the fear of overpopulation, limiting rights of the Irish and the effect of penal laws during the 18th century and in A Modest Proposal. As Swift is satirically writing, he introduces an idea that brings up a religious aspect as well as a fear of over population in Ireland. Immediately, Jonathan Swift conveys a plain argument that is supposed to help the people of Ireland; with the intention of killing the Irish s children so that they can benefit the rest of the world. • 13. The Crime Control Model Of The Ryan Ferguson Essay In a perfect world every person s rights would never be compromised, within a society that is free of crime. Everyone would be equal and treated fairly. Unfortunately this is not the case, our system was created to serve and to protect the lives and rights of every American. Although, the scary reality is that not everyone s rights are always protected and some are even wrongfully convicted of crimes he or she is innocent of. This is an unnerving concept that seems like a plot to a popular crimefighting show. Sadly, this possibility was a reality for a man named Ryan Ferguson. Three key factors of the Ryan Ferguson case are: the Crime Control Model, the role of evidence, and the role of Appellate courts. The Crime Control Model demonstrates a specific viewpoint of prevention and deterrence of crime which means, the most important function of the criminal justice process to punish and repress criminal conduct, (Gaines, Kaune, and LeRoy,17). This means that a person who aliens with this model, will ensure someone gets charged for the crime committed. If more and more criminals are taken off of the streets, the justice system ultimately is successful in protecting it s society members. A known criminal could be convicted of a crime that he or she did not commit, but according to this model, as long as criminals are getting punished and removed the system is doing its job. In the Ryan Ferguson case, it is clear that Prosecutor Crain aligned with the Crime Control model. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hundreds of years of ethnic violence are dredged up at every meet; everyone thinks theirs is the just cause. From my impartial view there is more than enough blame to go around for all sides . Milosevic came in to power in Yugoslavia because of his adept timing to use the 1987 protest by promoting Serbian nationalism on national television. Milosevic adamantly stated in the interview that none of his books and speeches discussed a strictly Serbian state. The concept of Greater Serbia was conceived in 1884 Ilika Garasanin and was the credo for the secret Serb nationalist group the Black Hand who assassinated Franz Ferdinand . Emulating the same opinion from the Garasanin writing, Milosevic tried to create a Serbia that had complete control over the Yugoslavian area and discredited any country that tried to exempt itself out of the reaches of Serbian control. Bosnia and Herzegovina was illegally proclaimed as an independent state and recognized. Nationalism had been voiced many time s by Milosevic which he uses to voice out against the Bosnian state. With the help from Karadzic another person who was indicted for war crimes, Milosevic was able to gain a stronger foothold in Bosnia Herzegovina. • 19. Rhetorical Analysis Of George Patton s Speech The fear of killing and being killed in battle is no easy thing to contemplate or to inspire. Inspiring soldiers to participate earnestly in battle is crucial to winning wars. Approaches to accomplish this have been studied and tried by military leaders for millennia. George S. Patton attempted this very thing in his speech to the Third Army. Patton delivered a profane and vulgar speech to untried soldiers who have yet to see combat. Patton is able to inspire his soldiers by using his reputation while dismantling his authority, using obscene humor, and appealing to their sense of honor and courage. George Patton was a senior officer and commander of the U.S. Seventh Army during World War II. One of the pioneers in tank warfare, Patton became best known as the most effective general of World War II. Patton led American forces to significant victories on the fronts of North Africa, Sicily, and Europe. Before the European invasion, Patton, along with a major build up of Allied forces was covertly preparing for the first assaults on German occupied Normandy, France. General Patton s speech to the Third Army was given on June 5, 1944, in the United Kingdom on the eve of the Allied invasion of Europe (National Endowment for the Humanities, n.a.). This famous speech was given to the soldiers under his command. The speech was delivered as a motivational device by Patton in order to inspire and solidify his men for upcoming challenges. Throughout Patton s speech, harsh and foul language is used abundantly. The speech begins with Patton identifying the American public opinion of not wanting to enter the war. Patton refuses this and establishes Americans as wanting to fight, and instilling American pride into his audience. Patton then addresses the men s fears of dying and killing but shadows it with their duty to country, and honor to their manhood. The speech then moves to the importance of being a team and how every man has a crucial part to play, whether it be a truck driver or infantryman. Patton then feels the need to quickly remind everyone that his presence in England is to remain a secret. After this, he reinstates the mission and why they are here. They are here to defeat the Germans in Europe, then move ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every nurse, regardless of his or her specialty, encounters ethical challenges. However, public health nurses may face unique challenges in their distinct focus on the health of the population in addition to individuals (Haugh Mildon, 2005). In this research paper, I will consider two case studies from the perspective of the nursing code of ethics, personal and societal values, and the legal aspects and responsibilities of the nurse. The Nursing Code of Ethics According to the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements (2015), the code establishes the ethical standard for the profession and provides a guide for nurses to use in ethical analysis and decision making (p. 7). In the first case study, Laura s condition left her unresponsive. Her family is confronted with making medical decisions for her that could impact her quality of life. The code of ethics supports the nurse in this situation though the application of the first three provisions. First, it requires compassion and respect for the individual, whether it is to the patient or her family. It places the nurse s primary obligation to the patient and requires that the nurse advocate for the patient s best interest. When looking at these examples and many more, it begs the question, does moralityplay a role in international affairs of a state? This lack of rule enforcement puts states in a constant state of war, in a constant state where they need to stay on guard and in a tactical advantage otherwise the safety and well being of their state will be in jeopardy. In this scenario, the state s number one priority is to protect itself and act in its self interest when need be, despite if it would typically be deemed immoral. Compliance is a specific response to a specific request, while conformity generally involves unspoken pressure to behave in a particular manner. Generally, compliance involves request which could be explicit such as using the foot in the door technique. Most of the time, in compliance, the child is told to respond or complete the task told in a desirable manner; while in conformity, a person is expected to behave in a particular manner (Cialdini and Trost, 1998). Compliance plays a major role in building and maintaining relationships where children learn to behave in a certain manner to maintain status quo (Cialdini and Trost, 1998). When we comply with an instruction, we receive praises, or lavished with social acceptance and gifts. By doing so, the children feel accepted, wanted and loved by other peers. In a way, compliance acts as a form of conditioning the behavior expected from their peers (Cialdini and Trost, 1998). It is easy to view compliance as a form of concession due to the obligation children might have towards their peers. According to one source, Bizet had gone to some lengths to familiarize himself with the musical sounds and forms of the region in which Carmen is set, and several of the best known portions use rhythms he learned from those studies (Schwarm). This dedication allowed Bizet to master the Spanish Habanera dance despite never having gone to Spain, helping to make it one of the most well known pieces in operatic history. His mastery of musical techniques and his dedication to his music allowed him to compose Carmen and refine it into a masterpiece. In addition to the imaginative techniques, the plot of Carmen is revolutionary. Unlike other operas of its time, it focuses on the lower class. Carmen is known for its defiantly sexual leading female character and its non heroic portrayal of a wide slice of society ( Bizet, Georges ). As well as this, the undeniable realism of the portrayal of the gypsies, smugglers, and factory workers was not well received (Schwarm). Byron also doesn t do very well in school, unlike Kenny who seems to thrive in school. Kenny could easily be described as inspired. Kenny displays this with his interaction with other characters. For example, he went to talk with his father in the bathroom when his dad was shaving. At that moment Kenny had said that he was also growing mustache. I believe that this is because Kenny looks up to his father and wants to be like him. Another example would be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then in many other experiences Byron carelessly beats up kids not feeling bad afterwards whatsoever. This shows that he is ambivalent because he has mixed feelings about injury and death. He carelessly beats up kids but then when it comes to killing a bird he has a huge breakdown. Another example would be his feelings and action towards Kenny. Sometimes he will be nice and brotherlike with Kenny, but then other times he turns around and then ends up beating up Kenny. When Kenny goes to Byron s class and reads after school Byron in a way congratulates Kenny. While Western Literature conforms to the ever expanding needs of society by breaking away from the book to make its way to the big screen, it still relies on some of the most classic of stories, ironically, stories usually hailing from the East. The Matrix serves as a standing example of this relationship, in that it effectively paves way in the Western world while relying on the Eastern classic known as the Bible, especially in the area of theme . Like the story of Christ, The Matrixtells the story of a man, not meant for the world he is in, but to instead, save the world he is in. While The Matrix is an original story, much inspiration was clearly drawn upon from the Bible as more than obvious Biblical parallels are scattered throughout the film and serve a greater purpose than that which the naked mind might understand, all while simultaneously utilizing a range of technical effects to further its purpose. The Matrix was released in 1999 by the studio Village Roadshow Pictures under the helm of director/producer duo the Wachowski Brothers. If a knee is hit from the outside, especially while the foot is planted, it will be forced into genu valgus. This puts several structures at risk, namely the ACL, MCL and joint capsule. These structures specifically prevent valgus forces and are expected to be damaged when subjected to excessive genu valgus. The nature of the force can also damage the bones because valgus will cause the lateral condyles of the femur and tibia to be compressed while the medial condyles will be distracted. This can result in bruising of the bone or damage to articular cartilage of the compressed side. In addition, the menisci can be involved depending on the direction of the force, especially if rotation occurs. The lateral meniscus can be damaged without rotation if it is compressed between the condyles or with rotation by getting torqued between the condyles. The medial meniscus is at a lesser risk of being damaged due to compression because the medial condyles are being distracted from one another. With this, the volume was determined by dividing 20 mL by 1000 mL to get .02 L This allowed for both kg units to cancel out and to only leave moles of solute. The number of moles calculated for unknown 3 was .0133 moles and for unknown 4 it was .0124 moles. These values were then used to find the molecular weight by dividing the theoretical mass of 5 g which was given by the number of moles calculated. The calculated molecular weights for unknowns 3 and 4 were 375.94 g/mole and 403.23 g/mole, respectively. The actual molecular weight for fructose is 180.17 g/mole and for sucrose it is 342.2965 g/mole. With this, unknown 3 was fructose and unknown 4 was sucrose. Therefore, with this information, the unknown 3 used within the experiment was fructose. As shown in Figure 3, the temperatures are recorded during the experiment for ...
