The Reason Behind The Consumer s Need For Balance Essay
notion that people have a basic desire for balance in their lives (Hennig Thurau, et al., 2004). The
reason behind the consumer s need to express positive emotions is that the consumer s positive
consumption experiences contribute to a psychological tension inside him or her because of a strong
desire to want to share the joy of the experience with someone. And also the factors driving consumers
to spread positive on line customer review in online consumer opinion platforms Based on social
psychology literature, they distinguished five key motivations: egoistic (e.g. the goal is to increase one
s own welfare, collective (e.g. the goal is to increase the group s benefits), altruistic (e.g. voluntary
increasing the welfare of individuals other than one s self), principality (e.g. the ultimate goal of
upholding some moral principle, such as justice or the utilitarian principle of the greatest good for the
greatest number, and knowledge self efficacy (e.g. a personal judgment of one s capability to execute
actions required for designated types of performances (Cheung and Lee, 2012). The negative feelings
associated with dissatisfying consumption experiences on a consumer opinion platform can serve to
lessen the frustration and reduce the anxiety associated with the event. A consumer s desire for
catharsis is known to be a major driving force behind the articulation of negative personal
experiences. Accordingly, sharing a negative consumption experience through the

How Does Rebecca Grand Use Irony In The Labyrinth
Everything that you wanted I have done. You asked that child be taken, I took him. You cowered
before me and I was frightening. I have reordered time, I have turned the world upside down, and I
have done it all for you! I am exhausted from living up to your expectations of me. Isn t that
generous? These words spoken by Jareth the Goblin king perfectly describe how the main character
felt throughout the Labyrinth a movie made from a story by Rebecca Grand. In the story Labyrinth the
author, Rebecca Grand, uses many different literary devices such as irony to surprise the audience.
The first type of irony type of irony the author uses in Labyrinth is dramatic. Dramatic irony is the
type of irony where the audience knows what is going to happen but the characters don t. One
example of dramatic irony is when Jareth, the Goblin king, tells Hoggle that if Sarah kissed him that
he would become the king of stink. This is dramatic irony because Sarah didn t know about what
Jareth said but the audience is aware. Another example, of dramatic irony is when Jareth s goblin army
is coming to attack Sarah and her friends. This is dramatic irony because of the knew the goblin army
was coming but Sarah and her friends didn t. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Situational irony involves a discrepancy between what is expected to happen and what actually
happens. One of the best examples of situational irony is when Jareth said to Hoggle don t lose your
head right before Sarah entered the forest with the fiery creatures, because the audience expects the
fiery creatures to take off Hoggles head but they actually try to take Sarah s head. In addition, another
example of situational irony is when Jareth gives Sarah another chance to get her brother back. This is
an example of situational irony because the audience expects Jareth to take the baby and be done but
he allows Sarah a chance to reclaim her

Shared Power Is More Powerful . When Two People Are In
Shared power is more powerful When two people are in conflict and trying to assert their needs. When
we want to influence another person, what we are in effect doing is attempting to exert some power
over that individual. In this context, power doesn t necessarily mean something ominous or
threatening. There are many meanings and possible sources of power. For example, passion can be a
source of power. The righteousness of a cause can be its power. Confidence is power. So when a
couple is mired in conflict when they are desperately trying to get their way or be right or prove the
other person wrong what it often comes down to is a power struggle. Power is a basic component of
any relationship. Think about the relationships in your own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Covert power builds resentment, who find that courage, often find that bringing power dynamics to
the surface is the key to repairing their relationship and moving past resentment. Nevertheless, despite
the connections between these works, inequality does not work in the same way for every couple.
Each of the couples represented here possesses their own definition of sublime inequity, often signaled
by gender differences. In somewhere I have never travelled, gladly beyond, e.e. Cummings describes
an infatuation so great that it renders the world topsy turvy, making fragility powerful and turning the
masculine into feminine. Cummings begins by suggesting that this infatuation is unfamiliar territory
for his speaker, referring to it as somewhere he has never travelled, gladly beyond/any experience... (1
2). Here, new love is described as an unfamiliar place or perhaps, a state of mind that transcends the
speaker s previous romantic encounters. The inclusion of the word gladly, however, implies that the
novelty of this latest affair is (at the very least) pleasurable. Reading these lines in context with the
poem s overwhelmingly romantic tone suggests that our speaker is addressing his lover ( you )
directly. Perhaps contributing to his overall state of confusion, the speaker notes: your eyes have their
silence, implying that his lady love is more inscrutable than his previous flames (Cummings 2).
Cumming s use of silent eyes brings to mind images of

Fox News Equals Media Equals Fear of Death Equals Adultery Malcolm X once said The media s the
most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty
innocent, and that s power. Because they control the minds of the masses. The media reaches out to all
places and affects everyone. It changes how we think and what we do. In the novel White Noise, Don
Delillo uses Babette s moral ambiguity, conveyed through her decisions and actions, to reveal the
influence that media has on the internal conflict between one s self interest and morality.
Within everyone, there exists a constant friction between one s self interest and morality. At first,
Babette emerges as a caring and honest character. Described by Jack as a gift bearer of great things as
the world generally reckons them (5), Babette does acts of charity in her free time. A few of her
pastimes are [gathering] and [tending] the children, [teaching] a course in an adult education program

sincerity is made more apparent by her foils, Jack Gladney s past wives. Her physique, described as
being slightly overweight with a head full of messy hair, further helps her appear amiable and likeable.
However, a closer look at Babette s intentions reveals her neutral personality. She reads to [the]

No Matter What Path God Calls A Missionary Essay
No matter what path God calls a missionary to, the initial goals are the same. These goals are: 1) Build
and edify the church, 2) Meeting needs, and 3) Spread the Gospel. The task of utmost importance is
that of building the church, a community of believers. It is through evangelizing that men come to
hear, know, and accept the redemptive plan of God through Jesus Christ. This is done by preaching
and teaching this message when opportunity arises. It is also done by living out your faith in the day to
day of mission life. We are to make the book of Acts our living example in growing and edifying a
body of believers (Warren 26 31) (Hodges 61 62)
Secondly, we are to meet the basic needs of that community and of those around us. These needs may
be physical, financial, or spiritual. Most often these needs will be physical at first and the later that
opens the door to the spiritual need. The Gospel of Christ is designed to meet all the needs of man. It
provides salvation for the soul and requires helping/loving those who are poor or destitute. One of the
first tasks for the missionary is to provide a Bible in the native tongue if one isn t available. This is the
sole mission of the parachurch group Wycliffe Translators. Other ministries to the native church will
be covered later in more depth. (Kane 297)
The last of the initial tasks for missions is spreading the Gospel. Once a strong, healthy body of
believers has been organized that is well provided for and self sufficient it

Vietnam Veterans Oral Histories In The Classroom Analysis
COINTELPRO (Counter Intelligence Program) repressed the government and firmly insured that any
disputes going on within the government would end. The head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation
(FBI), J. Edgar Hoover founded the program in 1950. Hoover made it very clear that any person who
was an activist in the anti war movement would find their life invaded. Hoover s goal was to root out
communism using any tactics that he could. The ways that this was achieved was through wire taps,
lies, and having families investigated and threatened. The purpose of this was that the FBI wanted to
keep a close eye on suspect s lives. With this going on, many anti war activists and liberals decided

The so called Vietnam Vets share false testimonies of events that occurred while they served in
Vietnam. As stated in the article by Hagopian, The measure of such stories interest may not be
whether factually correct but whether they convey a moral or psychological truth important enough
for the narrator to wish to share it. The reason why false stories were being told was to keep up with
societal pressure of being a war hero. Veterans have been brought into classrooms as a primary source,
when a piece of writing from Vietnam should be the primary source. What should be taken away after
reading this article were that it s possible to encounter false Vietnam stories. With that being said,
people need to be advocates for their own learning and knowing that some stories could be just tales.
A way to get the real story would be to seek out information that was written in the time period, as
well as amercing oneself in the subject. As for the Veterans, remember to respect them and their
stories, but continue to be

The top management is not the stereotypical group of businessmen. These people value each and

British Attitudes Of The Slave Trade In Nigeria And Nigeria
Both Britain and Nigeria were competition to have a larger empire. At the beginning of the 19th
century, Britain s main interest was in trade with India, that then had come to dominate by the end of
the 18th century. The British interest in Africa was incidental; ships bound to and from India had to
pass along the African coast where they obtained supplies and occasionally became overloaded or
shipwrecked. Only a few spots in West Africa, like the Gold Coast and the Slave Coast (modern
Nigeria), offered enough profit to make them attractive in their own right, so that by the end of the
Scamble the British occupied only the Gambia, Sierra Leone, the Gold Coast and Nigeria. Naturally,
the British also acquired extensive holdings elsewhere in Africa, notably in Egypt, Kenya and South
Africa, (Howe 89), but in West Africa, most of the territory went to the French. Most British attitudes
about Africa were shaped by their experience with the slave trade. According to The Book of Empire,
The British first became involved in the trade in the 16th century and became major players by the
18th century. Majority of the merchant seaman had seen and or owned slaves at some point of time in
their career in the late 18th century the abolition movement began to introduce Africans and their land
to a wider audience in Great Britain.

Social Realism In Once Were Warriors
Film: Once were warriors.
The tough, muscular characters in Lee Tamahori s ferocious Once Were Warriors are primed for
fighting. And they need no battlefield: their hostilities are played out in the bedroom, in front of the
children or in crowded bars. In his visceral first feature, Mr. Tamahori offers social realism with a
savage kick, depicting Maori New Zealanders whose ties to their own history have been destroyed.
Left floundering in an inhospitable urban world, they have lost touch with their tribal past to become
part of a rootless global subculture. The misery seen here would be familiar anywhere.
Having said he hoped to make a film that would stand viewers hair on end, Mr. Tamahori fully realizes

My Last Duchess By Robert Browning Essay
My last duchess by Robert Browning Quote Analysis
My Last Duchess by Robert Browning is a mysterious monologue about a duke who is showing a
portrait of his former wife or last duchess to a visitor at his palace. While showing this portrait of his
former wife, the duke begins to demean the duchess character and their life together. Although the
duke is very well spoken and chooses his words carefully as he describes the duchess, he ends up
reveling more about himself than his last duchess. By doing so, he reveals that she had been a lovely,
kindhearted woman, while he himself is cruel, jealous, proud, and arrogant.
The first two lines of the poem introduces us to the main topic of the duke speech and gives the reader
a hint that there s seems to be something wrong That s my last Duchess painted on the wall, Looking
as if she were alive the reader begins to suspect that the duchess is no longer alive. Browning uses
clever language in theses lines of the poem to foreshadow that the duke assassinated the duchess, in
which later on in the poem the reader realizes that he did so. In lines 45, 46, and 47 the following is
written, This grew; I gave commands; then all smiles stopped together. There she stands as if alive The
reader comes to the conclusion that the duke assassinated the duchess, illustrating that the duke is a
cruel man who will give the command to get ride of whatever disturbs him, in this case the duchess.
But, what did the duchess do that disturbed him so

Analysis Of Fritz Lang s Metropolis And The Garden...
There is a lot to be said about Fritz Lang s Metropolis, as it has many overlapping themes. There is the
theme of humans becoming as replaceable as machines. It has a theme of class division which leads to
a Marxist type revolution. The theme I want to focus on in this paper however, is the religious themes
and symbolism that are prevalent throughout the film, as I feel they are the most prominent.
Metropolis makes a lot of calls to Judeo Christian religions and biblical stories, using its storytelling
method, characterization, and visuals.
The story begins with the main character, Freder, in a lush garden surrounded by a harem of beautiful
and scantily clad women. This scene was likened to the Garden of Eden by Jerold J. Abrams in The ...

the movie also appear to be the only ones who recognize the workers as people and not parts, and they

world of the film, may have a lot to do with the film s controversial ending but I will talk about that in

Meanwhile, Freder s father is the owner of the city and the one who oversees everything that goes on.
He makes attempts to play God by changing conditions and controlling everything that happens in the

James Baldwin s View On Religion
Works of all genres contains religious references and allusions, many of which criticize or critique
certain religious practices, and James Baldwin, an author in the 1950s, served as a major contributor to
this group of works. He wrote several books, plays, and essays that served as major pieces of religious
commentary during the 1950s. His writing explored topics that criticized strict religion, opening up a
new outlook on relationships with God. Baldwin experienced many facets of religion in his life,

The autobiographical nature of Baldwin s writings, coupled with the common appearance of Christian

childhood, Baldwin s status as a preacher strengthens the importance of religion in his life. Lloyd
states that Baldwin s father often recited Joshua 24:25, saying as for me and my house, we will serve
the Lord (Lloyd 5). Lloyd furthers the idea that Baldwin s early life contained a strong Christian
presence, as this Bible quote highlights the prominence of religion in Baldwin s life. In addition to
Baldwin s status as a teenage preacher, his residence in a house dedicated to serving God explains the
religious presence in his works and confirms the idea that he often discussed important concepts of his
life in his writing. Baldwin s Go Tell It on the Mountain begins with [he] would be a preacher when he
grew up, just like his father. This shows not only the religious nature of Baldwin s writing but also
provides evidence of his autobiographical tendencies. The main character s status as a preacher reveals
that Baldwin wrote characters possessing very similar qualities to his own and that his works
contained a strong religious presence. Baldwin s religious lifestyle serves as a gateway for the
establishment of strong

Like Water For Chocolate Feminism Essay
Feminism can be defined as the belief that women and men should have equal rights and
opportunities.
I think Like Water For Chocolate is a feminist novel because the two main characters in the novel
exhibit characteristics that represent what a feminist is. Feminism is the belief that women and men
should have equal rights and opportunities. Tita and Gertrudis show through their behavior, actions,
and language that they believe that women should be able to live a life with the same rights and
opportunities as men.
The first reason Tita supports my belief that Like Water For Chocolate is a feminist novel is that she
demonstrated her feminism by rejecting conforms to social norms for female behavior and choosing
instead her equal right to fully love Pedro by having an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This quote explains that Gertrudis earned her commission of general by working brutally hard by
fighting in many battles in the Mexican revolution. This is usually the pattern men adopt to gain the
rank they want in a war.
Leadership was in her blood and once she joined the army, she began a rapid ascent through powerful
positions until she arrived at top; ... (9, p179). We learn in this quote that Gertrudis acts like a feminist
because she availed herself of the same rights and opportunities that men take to rise to the top of their
profession. She was not afraid to show she was a leader and she was not afraid to take opportunities
that came along to show her abilities and be promoted up the military ranks to general.
In conclusion, we see that two main and powerful characters in Like Water For Chocolate, Tita and
Gertrudis, exemplify and demonstrate the traits that feminists have the ability and fearlessness to take
advantage of the same rights and opportunities that men take advantage of. These two characters
support my belief that Like Water For Chocolate is a feminist

Cultural Diversity And Cultural Issues
Cultural Diversity refers to a concept whereby the history, beliefs, behavior, language, traditions, and
values of racial and/or ethnic groups are what makes them distinct. Thus, cultural diversity includes a
variety of features specific to a given group of people. 2. Multiculturalism refers to the policy setting
agenda to adopt equitable forms of consideration for distinct ethnic, religious, and racial groups
without promoting any particular groups as being dominant or central in identification. 3. Cultural
Assimilation is a political response that encourages the minority demographic to adopt the customs,
values and language of the dominant culture in order to receive the benefits of social integration. 4.
Implicit Bias is the perceptual phenomenon where persons unconsciously hold biases towards groups
or persons based on their previous experiences. However, Explicit Bias is when a person is
consciously aware of biases and attitudes that a person holds for a person or group. 5. Within both
State and Federal systems, there are two types of cases that are heard within the courts which are civil
and criminal. Civil trials are those cases that involve disputes between two persons, whereas criminal
trials are those cases that violate State or Federal criminal laws. Part II: 1. Across the United States

Masculinity And Femininity
Although complementary, the stories told about masculinity and femininity have very different
impacts on those that feel pressured to conform to them, or are subject to experience their effects by
others who do. A particularly insidious source of these stories comes from advertisements, as noted by
Jean Kilbourne in Killing Us Softly 4 (2010). She quotes a statement by the editor in chief of an
advertising magazine that only 8% of an ad s message is received by the conscious mind. The rest is
worked and reworked deep within the recesses of the brain . The internalization of the messages from
these advertisements unwittingly teaches men and women what is expected of them, and what is
desirable. For women, it is taught that femininity requires flawless beauty, with unnaturally smooth
skin (preferably light toned), shiny hair, dimple free curves cinched by a tiny waist, and a graceful
demeanor. It is taught that women must pursue this image, whether it be through the purchase of
cosmetics or surgical procedures, or diet products and exercise programs. These advertisements often
depict women as having elegance and sensuality in their passiveness lounging around as they enjoy
beauty products or indulgent foods, or draped upon powerful men. They must act as though they enjoy
being objectified; welcoming men s advances, even in violent or dangerous situations. In contrast,
men in advertisements are encouraged to model masculinity through violence, dismissal of emotions

Civil Litigation Procedures And Criminal Procedures
The difference among Civil Litigation procedures and Criminal procedures
An individual going to a lawyer to seek help in resolving an issue and seek monetary damages against
someone they believe has done them wrong. The attorney conducts the interview and the staff will
interview witness and perform legal research all in an effort to see if there is a basis for a cause of
action that is legitimate against wrongdoers. This begins the relationship between client and lawyer
which is solidified by the execution of a retainer agreement. In the retainer agreement there is an
understanding of the way that a lawyer will be paid. The Lawyer will begin the process of informing
the defendant of the complaint against them, and damages sought in the form of a demand letter. If the
defendant chooses not to answer the demand letter it s time to prepare for trial. The lawyer works on
jurisdiction to find the correct court who can hear the case. When the determination for jurisdiction is
set following will be venue selection. Venue allows for an impartial jury and focuses on the
convenience of the defendant. During this time claims and motions can be filed such as Complaint,
Answer, Counterclaim, Cross Claim, Motion to strike, and Motion to dismiss. After the reply or a
dismissal motion has been filed the discovery process can begin. The Discovery consists of two forms:
oral and written. Discovery that is oral include depositions and written discoveries include,

The Missouri House Bill No. 911 or also known as the Missouri Standard Science Act was a

Most of the sentences can easily be refutable by means of showing evidence of natural selection and
just by simply comparing the definition provided in this bill to its common or standard definition.
Some of its definition was redefined in favor of the bill s request for equality, and the use of the words
faith based philosophical beliefs and non verifiable does not conform to science. I believe that there is
no idea of faith in science. The purpose of science is to study the natural world and base their findings
on data, facts, and evidence, not by faith. In addition, the use of non verifiable on the bill suggests that
if a scientist didn t see any type of discoveries with their own eyes, then it is not verifiable. This
suggests that any theories such as the Big Bang and evolution is not verifiable. The biggest issue with
this term is that by the same definition, intelligent design is also not verifiable. Missouri Standard
Science Act provides an alternative fact where it redefines science, disregards it and requires the
common definition of science not to be taught. This leads to fallacious assumptions and conclusions
about science, its functions, and how it must be

Essay Thucydides Historical Method
Thucydides indicates that people are indiscriminate about the stories or accounts they are told. They
do not put them to the test. This is the case even with accounts that deal with their own country.
Thucydides uses the example of the murder of Hipparchus. The Athenians believe that Hipparchus
was a tyrant and was the ruler when he was killed by Harmodius and Aristogeiton. The fact of the
matter is, Thucydides says, that it was Hipparchus older brother Hippias who was in power, not
Hipparchus. Hippias was the eldest son of Pisistratus, so he was the ruler of Athens, not Hippias, who
was younger, and not Thessalus, the third son of Pisistratus, who was also younger than Hippias. As
for Harmodius and Aristogeiton, they originally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses two examples to illustrate this, both of which deal with the Lacedaemonian kings. When
Thucydides uses the phrase Other Greeks , it is possible that he is referring to Greeks in general and to
the popular beliefs of the time, or he could be referring to Herodotus, who provided erroneous
information about Lacedaemonian kings. The misconceptions that Thucydides refers to concerning the
Lacedaemonian kings are, first, that the Lacedaemonian kings have two votes each, and that they have
a military unit called `Pitante never existed. Herodotus, in his account, said that the Spartan kings had
two votes each and he also referred to the Pitante unit. So Herodotus spread false information, and
could very well be the Other Greeks who have wrong opinions that Thucydides refers to. The fact that
these false beliefs are accepted as truth shows, according to Thucydides, how ready people are to
believe the first things that come to hand. Thucydides next attacks the poets for spreading these false
beliefs in their songs, and the prose writers, who have also spread these false beliefs in their works. In
their songs, the poets have embellished much, Thucydides says, and what the prose writers have
hammered together aims more to delight the ear than to be true (Thucydides, 12). Thucydides notes
that it is not possible to test the accounts of the poets

in the world. It is not surprising that Forbes has named the firm the most admired company in the
world for four straight years. This is admiration both from the business world and from consumers
who buy the amazing products Apple has developed. The business itself has been a model of
efficiency and innovation, taking some of the most innovative electronic products ever to market and
forcing the rest of the electronics manufacturing world to follows its lead. It is also a company that
went from almost closing its doors to the level it now maintains in just a few short years. Consumers
are clamoring for new and better products and Apple executives are always happy to oblige. With is

world, and there seems to be no end to the types of products that the company can design and the
further accolades the company can accumulate. However, the business model that Apple operates
under needs to be investigated. The company has not received the same stellar regard from
competitors, and environmental activists also have some issues with the way the company operates. To
properly assess the company, this paper will utilize R. H. Coase s theory of economics. The

The Symbolism Of Another Brick In The Wall
Sean Leahy, an Australian cartoonist released a political cartoon Lazarus quits PUP to satirically
represent the departure of several members of the Palmer United Party, which was created and run by
Australian mining magnate Clive Palmer. The cartoon itself is a re creation of the nursery rhyme
Humpty Dumpty, in which he falls of a brick wall. Leahy s cartoon displays Humpty Dumpty as
Palmer, who is falling besides a deteriorating brick wall. Four specific bricks are of interest as three
have been displayed with the surnames Douglas, Judge and Lambie. The brick adjacent to Clive is

A notable aspect of irony presented in the cartoon has been shown with the placement of the brick
wall. The characteristics of brick walls are strong, firm and robust which is ironic, as the wall in the
cartoon is shown curved and deteriorating. Another element of irony in the cartoon is the
representation of Palmer as Humpty as Humpty Dumpty is interpreted as a kind figure worthy of
assistance as the most known iteration of the rhyme states that all the king s horses and all the king s
men couldn t put humpty together again (Wikipedia, 2015). This is ironic as multiple reports state that
members of the PUP abandoned the party due to the mistreatment by Palmer. (theage, businessinsider,
2015) Within the cartoon, Leahy has provoked the thought of irony, while simultaneously displaying
parody. Parody, the final satirical device, has been deployed by Leahy to further ridicule the PUP. The
artwork is a parody of Humpty Dumpty. Having Palmer as Humpty falling off the brick wall has
represented the nursery rhyme. However in this iteration of Humpty Dumpty the brick wall is
crumbling with him, ridiculing the fact that most of his political party have separated to become
independent politicians, due to Palmers actions. Leahy in his cartoon has used parody to ridicule the

Diagnosis Asthma
Asthma is a chronic airway disorder marked by inflammation. The inflammation affects multiple
structures involved in the respiratory system of the body. These structures include the trachea, the
bronchi, and the bronchioles. Bronchoconstriction is the main response that occurs during an asthma
attack. The bronchoconstriction can be attributed to many different factors including edema, an
excessive amount of mucus, muscle damage and bronchospasms. Bronchospasms are ... sharp
contractions of bronchial smooth muscle (Lynn Kushto Reese, 2015). The muscle damage can lead to

The War Of 1812 And The Civil War
The Antebellum period is known as the period before the Civil War. However, it is described as the
periods between the War of 1812 and the Civil War. The word e antebellum, means before the war,
and reform, means the improvement of what is wrong. The Antebellum period made transportation
more efficient for people who traveled. The Transportation Revolution provided several new, reliable,
safe and cost effective ways to travel to different parts of the nation, including new land in the west.
The transportation Revolution changed America by new types of transportation, economic growth,
expansion, and factory system growth. Roads and canals will shorten distances, effortless way to get
somewhere, and facilitate commercial and personal communication. The first roads in America were
developed by early settlers. The National Road was the first highway built entirely with federal funds.
The road was authorized by Congress in 1806 during the Jefferson Administration ( The National
Road par. 1). The first 10 miles of roads were built. Wagons were slow and very difficult to use on dirt
roads because of the weather. In 1811, the federal government opened the national road connecting
Cumberland, Maryland to Ohio River. Road improvements may have made it possible for more people
to live in a specific area, because access between that area and major job location centers is facilitated
by the improved roads. Around 1821, there was around 4,000 turmpikes and private roads that

Nurse Shortage Plan
The problem of nurse shortage is not new to healthcare. Moreover, it becomes burning in critical and
intensive care units where the workload is high, and nurses observe an increased risk of burnout
(Pastores Kvetan, 2015). Nurse shortage has a negative impact not only on nurses themselves. It also
influences patients and can lead to negative patient outcomes due to less attention that a nurse gives to
a patient (Ferrer et al., 2014). Therefore, there is a need for a strategic plan to address nurse shortage
and thus contribute both to nurse retention and improved patient outcomes. The purpose of this paper

Christianity In The Chronicles Of Narnia
Christian ideals in children s literature pose a serious threat to individuality. Clive Staples Lewis wrote
The Chronicles of Narnia in 1950, he hoped to write a book even non religious people could pick up
and read. Being his most popular book, children and adults alike took to this book, along with
theologians. His book is a complete copy of the Bible, only switched around to make fantastic settings
and characters like Aslan the lion, the Jesus Christ of Narnia. He also uses children as the main
characters so the younger audience can relate, again, making these children prone to choosing a
religion early on. C.S. Lewis wrote wonderful books, but his push of Christianity is quite offensive to
some readers. The most factual correlation between the Bible and The Chronicles of Narnia is that
they are both works of fiction. Christianity, and all religion, are ways for the uneducated to understand
their world without science. Now, not all religious people are uneducated, yet they look for something
higher than themselves, in fear there is actually nothing in the afterlife. Along with this, there is a lot
of evil in the bible, If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God

Introduction: Worldwide emergence and spread of antimalarial resistance has led to use of molecular
markers in monitoring of resistant plasmodium parasite. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the K13
propellor domain have been recently associated with artemisinin resistance. This study aims at
profiling K13 molecular markers related to reduced susceptibility to Artemether Lumefantrine in
parasite isolates from Msambweni coastal region, Kenya. Methods: Chelex method was used for
extracting DNA from Plasmodium falciparum positive dried blood spots on filter paper samples.
Polymerase chain reaction and sequencing technique was used to detect single nucleotide

Hinduism And The Beliefs Of Christianity And Hinduism
All around the world, there are billions of people who practice whatever religion they support. Today I
am here to talk about a couple of religions which are called Christianity and Hinduism. I will talk
about their origins, there beliefs, and how it has impacted the community around it. My first religion
will be one of the most popular religions that are used today due to its number of followers is
Christianity. This is a monotheistic religion, meaning that its people only believe in one god. It was
developed from Judaism, but has a few differences in its teachings. It was developed in Judea, which
Is now known as Israel in the middle east next to the Mediterranean sea.. It was founded by Jesus of
Nazareth and his disciples who helped him spread his teachings in the year 30 CE. One of their beliefs
is that there is only one god and only one. As you saw earlier that is called a monotheistic religion.
They were taught to call his father due to Jesus Christ teachings. Jesus is god s son. He was sent down
from above to save mankind from death and sin. In other words he was sent to fulfil god s job, not
teach it. Another one of their beliefs is what happens to them after they die. They believe that they
either go to heaven or hell. They believe that even though they are buried or cremated that their soul
can still live on and be brought up into a new life with god. They believe that this is possible because
three days after Jesus died he arose from the ground and they

A Modest Proposal, By Aldous Huxley And Jonathan Swift
Aldous Huxley and Jonathan Swift both have a different way of bringing society s attention to the real
problems of the world. Both authors utilize the New Historicism lense as an influence to each of their
pieces of literature. From 1729 to 1932, there were plenty of historical conflicts that could help each
author make society want to change the current problems that they were facing. Huxley satirizes the
sexual freedom and moral decay of the Roaring 20s in Brave New World and Swift satirizes the rising
problem of overpopulation in Ireland in his short story, A Modest Proposal . A popular theory by
Thomas Malthus on overpopulation could have been influenced by Swift s short story and Huxley
might have used it to contribute to his novel. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both pieces of literature use satire to raise awareness of the conflicts and to make society question or
feel the need to change the current problems. Thomas Malthus, a scholar that was born about thirty
years following the great Irish famine discovered a famous population theory. In general, he stated in
his theory that the population of a country will always be greater than the amount of sources it can
produce, like food. It is possible that he came up with his population theory after studying all of the
potential factors in the Irish famine. Overpopulation was one of the main contributors to the famine. In
Brave New World, the characters use Malthusian belts which held contraceptives like birth control and
condoms. These belts that the men and women of this book wore were used to control overpopulation,
which was the exact conflict that Jonathan Swift was trying to resolve in his short story, A Modest

Argumentative Essay On Confederate Flag
The Confederate flag has been around since 1861, as a symbol of endless war, and detestation towards
African Americans. Today, 154 years later, some states still incorporate the confederate flag into their
state flags. The Confederate flag does not show progression in history, rather it is offensive to many
groups and should be put to rest, because it does not promote unity in America. The Confederate flag
holds America back and keeps our country stuck in the past. Today the Confederate Flag is still
incorporated into five state flags. Those states are, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, and
Mississippi. The Confederate flag is still currently flying over South Carolina s capital, Columbia,
because of a state law. This law is known as The South Carolina Heritage Act of 2000. Section 1 10 30
of The South Carolina Heritage Act of 2000 states, The Infantry Battle Flag of the Confederate Army
of Northern Virginia (Confederate Battle Flag) displayed on the Confederate Soldiers Monument on

Governor Folsom also said, This has been a divisive issue in our state, and I believe it is time we put it
behind us and move our state forward (New York Times, 7). However the Confederate Flag was
originally created in 1861 during the First Battle of Manassas. Confederate soldiers had trouble
distinguishing which troops were carrying the American flag and which were hoisting what was then
the flag of the rebellious Southern states. In order to resolve this problem the Confederate Flag was
created, to avoid this confusion. During the Civil War, the Confederate Flag stood for war, conflict,
and southern pride. Today one in ten Americans have a positive reaction when they see the

I have reordered time, I have turned the world upside down, and I have done it all for you! I am exhausted from living up to your expectations of me. Isn t that generous? These words spoken by Jareth the Goblin king perfectly describe how the main character felt throughout the Labyrinth a movie made from a story by Rebecca Grand. Cummings begins by suggesting that this infatuation is unfamiliar territory for his speaker, referring to it as somewhere he has never travelled, gladly beyond/any experience... (1 2). Here, new love is described as an unfamiliar place or perhaps, a state of mind that transcends the speaker s previous romantic encounters. The inclusion of the word gladly, however, implies that the novelty of this latest affair is (at the very least) pleasurable. Reading these lines in context with the poem s overwhelmingly romantic tone suggests that our speaker is addressing his lover ( you ) directly. Perhaps contributing to his overall state of confusion, the speaker notes: your eyes have their silence, implying that his lady love is more inscrutable than his previous flames (Cummings 2). The media reaches out to all places and affects everyone. It changes how we think and what we do. In the novel White Noise, Don Delillo uses Babette s moral ambiguity, conveyed through her decisions and actions, to reveal the influence that media has on the internal conflict between one s self interest and morality. • 8. No Matter What Path God Calls A Missionary Essay No matter what path God calls a missionary to, the initial goals are the same. These goals are: 1) Build and edify the church, 2) Meeting needs, and 3) Spread the Gospel. The task of utmost importance is that of building the church, a community of believers. It is through evangelizing that men come to hear, know, and accept the redemptive plan of God through Jesus Christ. This is done by preaching and teaching this message when opportunity arises. It is also done by living out your faith in the day to day of mission life. We are to make the book of Acts our living example in growing and edifying a body of believers (Warren 26 31) (Hodges 61 62) Secondly, we are to meet the basic needs of that community and of those around us. These needs may be physical, financial, or spiritual. Most often these needs will be physical at first and the later that opens the door to the spiritual need. The Gospel of Christ is designed to meet all the needs of man. It provides salvation for the soul and requires helping/loving those who are poor or destitute. One of the first tasks for the missionary is to provide a Bible in the native tongue if one isn t available. This is the sole mission of the parachurch group Wycliffe Translators. Other ministries to the native church will be covered later in more depth. (Kane 297) The last of the initial tasks for missions is spreading the Gospel. • 14. British Attitudes Of The Slave Trade In Nigeria And Nigeria Both Britain and Nigeria were competition to have a larger empire. At the beginning of the 19th century, Britain s main interest was in trade with India, that then had come to dominate by the end of the 18th century. The British interest in Africa was incidental; ships bound to and from India had to pass along the African coast where they obtained supplies and occasionally became overloaded or shipwrecked. Only a few spots in West Africa, like the Gold Coast and the Slave Coast (modern Nigeria), offered enough profit to make them attractive in their own right, so that by the end of the Scamble the British occupied only the Gambia, Sierra Leone, the Gold Coast and Nigeria. Naturally, the British also acquired extensive holdings elsewhere in Africa, notably in Egypt, Kenya and South Africa, (Howe 89), but in West Africa, most of the territory went to the French. Most British attitudes about Africa were shaped by their experience with the slave trade. My Last Duchess By Robert Browning Essay My last duchess by Robert Browning Quote Analysis My Last Duchess by Robert Browning is a mysterious monologue about a duke who is showing a portrait of his former wife or last duchess to a visitor at his palace. While showing this portrait of his former wife, the duke begins to demean the duchess character and their life together. Although the duke is very well spoken and chooses his words carefully as he describes the duchess, he ends up reveling more about himself than his last duchess. By doing so, he reveals that she had been a lovely, kindhearted woman, while he himself is cruel, jealous, proud, and arrogant. The first two lines of the poem introduces us to the main topic of the duke speech and gives the reader a hint that there s seems to be something wrong That s my last Duchess painted on the wall, Looking as if she were alive the reader begins to suspect that the duchess is no longer alive. Browning uses clever language in theses lines of the poem to foreshadow that the duke assassinated the duchess, in which later on in the poem the reader realizes that he did so. In lines 45, 46, and 47 the following is written, This grew; I gave commands; then all smiles stopped together. • 22. Masculinity And Femininity Although complementary, the stories told about masculinity and femininity have very different impacts on those that feel pressured to conform to them, or are subject to experience their effects by others who do. A particularly insidious source of these stories comes from advertisements, as noted by Jean Kilbourne in Killing Us Softly 4 (2010). She quotes a statement by the editor in chief of an advertising magazine that only 8% of an ad s message is received by the conscious mind. The rest is worked and reworked deep within the recesses of the brain . The internalization of the messages from these advertisements unwittingly teaches men and women what is expected of them, and what is desirable. For women, it is taught that femininity requires flawless beauty, with unnaturally smooth skin (preferably light toned), shiny hair, dimple free curves cinched by a tiny waist, and a graceful demeanor. It is taught that women must pursue this image, whether it be through the purchase of cosmetics or surgical procedures, or diet products and exercise programs. These advertisements often depict women as having elegance and sensuality in their passiveness lounging around as they enjoy beauty products or indulgent foods, or draped upon powerful men. They must act as though they enjoy being objectified; welcoming men s advances, even in violent or dangerous situations. Civil Litigation Procedures And Criminal Procedures The difference among Civil Litigation procedures and Criminal procedures An individual going to a lawyer to seek help in resolving an issue and seek monetary damages against someone they believe has done them wrong. The attorney conducts the interview and the staff will interview witness and perform legal research all in an effort to see if there is a basis for a cause of action that is legitimate against wrongdoers. This begins the relationship between client and lawyer which is solidified by the execution of a retainer agreement. In the retainer agreement there is an understanding of the way that a lawyer will be paid. The Lawyer will begin the process of informing the defendant of the complaint against them, and damages sought in the form of a demand letter. If the defendant chooses not to answer the demand letter it s time to prepare for trial. The lawyer works on jurisdiction to find the correct court who can hear the case. When the determination for jurisdiction is set following will be venue selection. Venue allows for an impartial jury and focuses on the convenience of the defendant. During this time claims and motions can be filed such as Complaint, Answer, Counterclaim, Cross Claim, Motion to strike, and Motion to dismiss. Most of the sentences can easily be refutable by means of showing evidence of natural selection and just by simply comparing the definition provided in this bill to its common or standard definition. Some of its definition was redefined in favor of the bill s request for equality, and the use of the words faith based philosophical beliefs and non verifiable does not conform to science. I believe that there is no idea of faith in science. The purpose of science is to study the natural world and base their findings on data, facts, and evidence, not by faith. In addition, the use of non verifiable on the bill suggests that if a scientist didn t see any type of discoveries with their own eyes, then it is not verifiable. This suggests that any theories such as the Big Bang and evolution is not verifiable. The biggest issue with this term is that by the same definition, intelligent design is also not verifiable. • 29. Essay Thucydides Historical Method Thucydides indicates that people are indiscriminate about the stories or accounts they are told. They do not put them to the test. This is the case even with accounts that deal with their own country. Thucydides uses the example of the murder of Hipparchus. The Athenians believe that Hipparchus was a tyrant and was the ruler when he was killed by Harmodius and Aristogeiton. The fact of the matter is, Thucydides says, that it was Hipparchus older brother Hippias who was in power, not Hipparchus. Hippias was the eldest son of Pisistratus, so he was the ruler of Athens, not Hippias, who was younger, and not Thessalus, the third son of Pisistratus, who was also younger than Hippias. When Thucydides uses the phrase Other Greeks , it is possible that he is referring to Greeks in general and to the popular beliefs of the time, or he could be referring to Herodotus, who provided erroneous information about Lacedaemonian kings. The misconceptions that Thucydides refers to concerning the Lacedaemonian kings are, first, that the Lacedaemonian kings have two votes each, and that they have a military unit called `Pitante never existed. Herodotus, in his account, said that the Spartan kings had two votes each and he also referred to the Pitante unit. So Herodotus spread false information, and could very well be the Other Greeks who have wrong opinions that Thucydides refers to. The fact that these false beliefs are accepted as truth shows, according to Thucydides, how ready people are to believe the first things that come to hand. Thucydides next attacks the poets for spreading these false beliefs in their songs, and the prose writers, who have also spread these false beliefs in their works. In their songs, the poets have embellished much, Thucydides says, and what the prose writers have hammered together aims more to delight the ear than to be true (Thucydides, 12). Clive Staples Lewis wrote The Chronicles of Narnia in 1950, he hoped to write a book even non religious people could pick up and read. Being his most popular book, children and adults alike took to this book, along with theologians. His book is a complete copy of the Bible, only switched around to make fantastic settings and characters like Aslan the lion, the Jesus Christ of Narnia. He also uses children as the main characters so the younger audience can relate, again, making these children prone to choosing a religion early on. C.S. Lewis wrote wonderful books, but his push of Christianity is quite offensive to some readers. The most factual correlation between the Bible and The Chronicles of Narnia is that they are both works of fiction. My first religion will be one of the most popular religions that are used today due to its number of followers is Christianity. This is a monotheistic religion, meaning that its people only believe in one god. It was developed from Judaism, but has a few differences in its teachings. It was developed in Judea, which Is now known as Israel in the middle east next to the Mediterranean sea.. It was founded by Jesus of Nazareth and his disciples who helped him spread his teachings in the year 30 CE. One of their beliefs is that there is only one god and only one. • 46. A Modest Proposal, By Aldous Huxley And Jonathan Swift Aldous Huxley and Jonathan Swift both have a different way of bringing society s attention to the real problems of the world. Both authors utilize the New Historicism lense as an influence to each of their pieces of literature. In Brave New World, the characters use Malthusian belts which held contraceptives like birth control and condoms. These belts that the men and women of this book wore were used to control overpopulation, which was the exact conflict that Jonathan Swift was trying to resolve in his short story, A Modest ... Today, 154 years later, some states still incorporate the confederate flag into their state flags. The Confederate flag does not show progression in history, rather it is offensive to many groups and should be put to rest, because it does not promote unity in America. The Confederate flag holds America back and keeps our country stuck in the past. Today the Confederate Flag is still incorporated into five state flags. Those states are, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi. The Confederate flag is still currently flying over South Carolina s capital, Columbia, because of a state law.
