Factors That Regulate Expression Of Stress Responsive...
Science I Term Paper
The research paper that this term paper is based on is Interactions Among Plant Transcription
Factors Regulating Expression of Stress responsive Genes, Sony Malhotra and R. Sowdhamini,
National Center for Biological Sciences, June 2014, Bioinformatics and Biology Insights.
Abstract:
Plants are known to respond to abiotic stress by up or down regulating their genes. This is done by
activating transcription factors. It is known that these transcription factors, though they have DNA
binding domains, interact amongst each other for the regulation of gene production. In order to find
out which transcription factors interact and how, the research uses genetic and molecular structure
information available in databases and computationally analyses the data. The factors that lead to
the conclusion of interaction between transcription factors includes spatial proximity and possible
interaction poses. Molecular docking is used to predict the interaction poses and DockScore is a
scoring system used to rank the interaction poses.
Introduction:
Plants are immobile and therefore need mechanisms to counteract stresses that they face from their
environment. Cold, high light, drought, salinity, abscisic acid, rehydration and combination of
stresses like cold drought salt stress are common abiotic stresses that plants encounter. In order to
deal with these stresses, plants either up regulate or down regulate their genes; that is, they increase
the production of

Literary Devices In The Great Gatsby
In this excerpt from The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, there are many literary devices that
assist the audience in understanding the narrator, Nick Carraway, and his view of the Valley of
Ashes. The word choice and details used throughout the passage greatly succeed at making the
Valley it s own, distinguishable land. In addition, Fitzgerald uses figurative language like
metaphors to give the reader a better understanding of the the depressing and dreary setting.
Without the use of these devices, Fitzgerald might not have been able to develop this recurring
setting in the novel. One of the ways Fitzgerald manages to flesh out the scenery is through the use
of diction. Diction is the wordchoice and the connotation of the words that are seen in the text.
There is a great example of diction in the fourth sentence of the first paragraph, where the
narrator Nick Carraway uses words like bleak, spasms, and the phrase drift endlessly to describe
the Valley of Ashes. These words typically have a negative or demoralizing connotation, which
perfectly portrays how the characters feel about the Valley and how Fitzgerald wants the audience
to perceive the Valley. The specific word choice reinforces the idea that people that live within the
Valley feel stuck, and that being there for such a long amount of time has made them lose hope that
one day they would be among the debutantes of the East and West Egg. In the same fashion,
Fitzgerald develops the Valley of Ashes through

Negative Effects On Public Media
Today the data linking violence in the television to violence in society are superior to those linking
cancer and tobacco (Grossman 31). The digital revolution of television symbolizes that the
technological advances have taken the lead of modern society. The relation between children s
violent television viewing and their development is assignable in various ways. Research studies
raised some significant questions about this field and suggest the possible negative consequences
that televised violencecould bring to the youth. As the most common and popular public media,
televisiondeserved society s critical attention on its detrimental effects among children. People
who is responsible for major consequences should be attacked by actions such as allowing or
profiting inappropriate images on children s programs, which can cause both physical and
psychological problems to the youth viewers and even lead to criminal behaviors. Violent images
on children s television programs should be discern as the complex interplay that lead to major
consequences in children s future development. Nowadays, under the exposure of television,
aggressive images are often shown and even suggested in children s shows or cartoons. Aggressive
actions involving animated characters are easy to caught youngsters attention. Professor Chris
Boyatzis , a member of the Cal State Fullerton Child Development Department, further proved by
expressing that, Violent cartoons have been a staple of

Life Of Pi Theme Essay Examples
Theme Essay Life of Pi shows that humans and animals should do anything necessary to survive
whatever challenges they face to live instead of just accepting death. Whatever ways that help
one to survive are necessary, even if they compromise personal values, are vicious, or are
wicked. Pi, a human; a hyena, and a blind man all fight to survive in a variety of ways that are
examples of this thesis. Pi quits his vegetarian diet and also chooses to live on a raft next to a
bengal tiger on a lifeboat, which are both unusual and unconventional choices for him. He
satisfies his hunger by quitting being a vegetarian and eating fish. Pi knows that A lifetime of
peaceful vegetarianism [stands] between [him] and the willful beheading of a fish (Martel 98).
In other words, his body needs the fish because the beheading had to be done (Martel 98) in
order to survive. In addition, Pi decides to feed a 450 pound (Martel 61) bengal tiger named
Richard Parker for his own self preservation. He acknowledges, I had to tame him. It was at that
moment that I realized this necessity...More likely the worst would happen: the simple passage of
time, in which his animal toughness would easily outlast my human frailty (Martel 164). This
means that Pi fears that the fierce animal strength and power of Richard Parker would eventually
kill and eat him for food. Furthermore, Pi confesses to wanting Richard Parker to live primarily
for Pi s own survival when he states, A part of me did not want

Schools Should Not Conduct Random Locker Searches In Schools
On a scale basis, most people actually hate locker searches and think that schools need to terminate
them. Joseph, a friend of a student whose locker got searched said. His friend, Ryan had school
locker searches in his school. They were allowed to have their phones out during lunch, but when
the securitypulled him away from his friends at lunch to have a locker search, they confiscated
Ryan s iPod 4. He never saw it again. The security said that they kept it, but it somehow got lost.
Students should not conduct random locker searches because they will lose their privacy, have
misplaced focus, and the search could lead to legal issues. I mean, how many times have people

What Is The Role Of Slavery In African-American Culture
Slavery had also been present in New York from the earliest days of Dutch settlement. As their
role expanded so did slavery in the city, 30 percent of its laborers were slaves. Most came from
different cultures, spoke different languages, and practiced many regions. Slavery allowed different
individuals who would never otherwise have encountered, their bond was not kinship, language, or
even race, but the impressment of slavery. They eventually came together an created a cohesive
culture and community that took many years, and it processed at different rates of speed in

themselves as Ibo, Ashanti, Yoruba, and so on, but as African American. In music, art, folklore,

Power training involves applying a force at the greatest speed possible (Power = force x velocity).
Jumping is a powerful movement and it must be trained using exercises which require a high
power output. In a previous article, I had described the importance of strength in vertical jump
training development. A well developed strength program supplies the necessary force application
in the power equation. Now it is time to discuss how to apply velocity to the power equation.
Performing movements at a high velocity is the goal when designing power based exercises along
with a second goal of focusing on maximum effort with each repetition. There are two major types
of power exercises, those which involve more than body weight resistance and those utilizing only
body weight. This article will discuss the application of performing power exercises which
incorporate an added resistance through weight training. Power resistance exercises can fall into
several categories:
1) weightlifting exercises with a low to moderate percentage

Artificial Intelligence in Gibson s Idoru and Oshii s Ghost in the Shell Introduction If people
knew what scientists are up to, they would not be sleeping as calmly as they do today. If only
they knew, they would read more carefully what the cyberpunk authors have to say. The purpose
of this work is not only to compare the pictures of Artificial Intelligence (hereafter referred to
simply as AI) included in two major works of cyberpunk genre, but also to show the connection
between those images and the reality we all live in or its nearest future. So what is the future of AI
depicted in cyberpunk works like? And if, as Sterling suggests, science fiction writers pass on a
cautionary message to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A useful addition to it is provided by the author who is considered one of the founders of the
genre, William Gibson. In one of his interviews he stated that it is about the present. It s not
really about an imagined future. It s a way of trying to come to terms with the awe and terror
inspired . . . by the world in which we live (Anonymous collective work). This opinion is in
accordance with the opening quotation from Sterling. Both opinions, too, answer the question of
why the examples from this particular genre were chosen for the sake of comparison shown in this
very work. Indeed, there is a reason for doing this: the resemblance to reality cyberpunk works bear.
Obviously, there are other genre specific features that characterize cyberpunk: like the presence of
the Internet (that is often combined into one entity with virtual reality and takes up different
names: Cyberspace, Matrix, Multiverse, partly because it was invented in cyberpunk literature
before it was invented in reality and named the Internet) or the influence of almighty organizations
in the form of international corporations or mafia like criminal orders of different kinds. These
elements, too, appear in the works described herein, but they are just other elements of a picture
already defined. Defining Basic Notions: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence Let us now consider
the term Artificial Intelligence. What is AI then? And do we live

Link Between Mis And The Circadian Clock
Aaron Kendrick
Essay 1 The Link between Myocardial Infarctions and the Circadian Clock
The circadian clock holds large importance in a number of bodily functions including the
cardiovascular system. In particular there are a number of connections between the circadian
clock and myocardial infarctions (heart attacks). Myocardial infarctions (MIs) as a term is more
commonly used in scientific journals than heart attacks, therefore, the term myocardial infarction
(MI) will be used throughout the duration of this paper. Overall a discussion of the link between
MIs and the circadian clock, the effect of disrupted sleep on MIs, and certain cases where there is

Furthermore, they determined that the lack of an evening peak may be due to less population
wide synchronization of MI triggers between 6 and 8 pm (Kanth et al, 2013). However, they did
not express what these triggers were. Although the common triggers for MIs are an increase in
sympathetic activity, increase in platelet agreeability and a decrease in plasma fibrinolytic activity.
Which means that hemostasis, the stopping of flow of blood, is altered and an imbalance between
myocardial (muscle of the heart) oxygen supply and demand occurs in the morning. Together these
triggers are known to potentially lead to acute MI (Kanth et al, 2013). Therefore, I infer that these
triggers have been desynchronized among the population between 6 and 8pm. Another study
supports this idea and showed that the number of circulating platelets and their ability to aggregate
follows a circadian rhythm, where the highest number of platelets was found in the afternoon, but
an increase in aggregation occurred in the morning. This paper also discussed that the peak levels
of lipoprotein and fibrinogen, which are discussed in the previous article as plasma fibrinolytic
activity , coincided with the peak frequency of MIs (Fournier et al, 2015). However, overall
neither paper makes an explicit case for why there is a desynchronization of triggers during the
evening

To Play or Not to Play It seems that no matter what at some point in a child s life they wander up

realize that when a child knows how to play a musical instrument it can help them out in many more

well parents why not buy them an instrument and let their creativity be expressed? Everybody is

She talked about how each failure effects are greatly, how standing on the ledge reminded her

parents for the work that she placed out and saying she is sorry for not doing better than what

three lines over and over again, which were not good enough , not pretty enough , and not smart

The Importance Of William Shakespeare s Influence On The...
Through evolution and changing social times, modern society has begun to question the literary
works of famous poets such as William Shakespeare, for his use of predominantly male
representation, overused themes, and debased comedy style. Nevertheless, although social progress
is underway to broaden the range of literary works studied, it is important to examine Shakespeare
in order to recognize his exclusive influence on the English language, depiction of universal
characters, and representation of transferable lessons. Although, the overall ideologies involved are
not agreeable to civilizations today, it cannot be erased from history, thus is imperative to a student

Day Of The Dead Thesis
Coco is the story of a young boy in Mexico named Miguel who enjoys music, but is apart of a
family that has banned all forms of music due to a family feud. During The Day of the Dead, he
is whisked away to the Land of the Dead where he is given a chance to learn about his family s

I saw very little advertising or trailers for Coco compared to most major Disney films, so I was
expecting a neat little Disney movie that didn t quite match up to the Disney classics. However,
Coco turned out to be a heartwarming movie about balancing your family and your dreams.

wonderful job of exploring the gray areas and how you don t always have to take sides completely.
Visually, the movie is stunning and the animation is flawless. Even minor movements like falling
or walking will affect objects around the characters in fascinating ways. Seeing Miguel walk across
a lead ridden rooftop and having each step disrupt the leaves around him is truly a joy from a
technical standpoint. The skeletons in the Land of the Dead interact with the world in unique and
fun ways that further immerse viewers.
The most impressive part of the movie to me was how interconnected and well thought out the
story was. Disney songs are always fun and do an excellent job of explaining a situation or
character, but Coco uses its main song as a vital plot point that connects the story as a whole. The
characters have a set goal and everything they do always relates back to that main

The Effect Of Advertising On Society
The Harms Of Advertisements
Today, in such a globalized economy, advertisements play a vital role in helping to reach
consumers across the globe. Compared to the past, advertisements appear to be much more
numerous now and their aim is to lure people into buying products at all costs, even if it means
misleading the average consumer. Many turn a blind eye to these promotions as they see it as an
essential tool in an increasingly capitalistic free market to fuel economic growth. Unfortunately, the
surge of unchecked advertising has lead to some adverse effects on societies whether they be moral
or ethical in nature. The SAFRA gym advertisement, is an impeccable example of the adverse
effects of advertising in today s society. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The misconceptions of advertisements can clearly be seen in this case as it is implying that your
life will always be dull if you are not a member of our establishment even if a person is already a
member of a similar establishment. As a result, people might start to find things that are wrong with
their lives when their isn t and convince themselves that the only solution to the nonexistent
problem that is to become a member of this establishment. These misleading advertisements can
also lead people to develop body image issues especially women as they begin to think that the
reason why they aren t getting the same attention as the woman in the advertisement is because they
don t look like her even though they might look like perfectly healthy individuals themselves. In
most societies, it is considered quite important that women prioritize their physical appearance in
order to attract men as it is expected that men are to make the first move in a romantic setting. This
is showcased in the SAFRA gym advertisement where the lean fit woman manages to catch the eye
of the two muscular men who completely abandon their workout. This gym advertisement targets
the younger female audiences by giving the impression that if you want to be like that woman who
can attract two strong men, you must come to our gym. The advertisers use this

The novel April Morning by Howard Fast takes place in the early days of the American

young fifteen year old boy named Adam Cooper and his family. His family includes his father,
mother, grandmother, and his younger brother Levi. The story takes place in Lexington,
Massachusetts, and at the time the residents of Massachusetts were angry against the British rule.
They believed the British were taking rights away from the Colonists. The Colonists of
Massachusetts believed that rights came from God, and not from King George The Third who had
rule over British at this time. Adam and his father, Moses had very different opinions on the matter,
and were never at peace with one another. The story takes place in a time span of just one day when
the redcoats march through and attack Lexington. The town agree to muster the militiain order to
protect themselves, and as that is happening Adam overhears his parents calling him a man rather
than a boy. Adam is chastised by his father, and loads his gun, joining the fight. The British fire
upon the militia, killing Adams father Moses, which causes Adam to flee. Adam at this point is

Character Analysis Of Sir Andrew Aguecheek
Twelfth Night is one of the greatest plays to date because of its hilarious characters and plot. It
gives the readers a fun and festive theme and it is no secret that Sir Andrew Aguecheek is one of
the most comedic characters in the play. Andrew is described as a foolish night who is a wimp
and coward. He is good friends with Sir Toby Belch, a drunken knight who takes up residence at
the Countess s house who s described as a heavy drinker. Andrew adds to the fun in Twelfth Night
due to recurring reasons. His low intelligence, his relationship with the ladies and his appearance.
These reasons help add humourand fun to the play while also making Sir Andrew s character
particularly comedic
One of the major flaws of Sir Andrew Aguecheeks is his low intelligence. This is because he often
gets him in dangerous situations that are planned by his friend Sir Toby. Toby sees Andrew as an
easy target to plan a trick on and describes him as if he were opened and you/ find so much blood
in his liver as will clog the foot of a/ flea. (3.2.55 77)
The trick played on Sir Andrew results in him getting hurt and beaten. This adds to a con argument
as Sir Andrew s lack of intelligence gets him in a situation where he unexpectedly gets in trouble
resulting in mass confusion.
However, Sir Andrew s foolishness helps add to the festive spirit in Twelfth Night. Andrew s
misunderstanding of Illyria results in a lot of humor as he navigates through the situations he faces
in the play. A

The Symbolism Of How Soccer Explains The World
For as long as I can remember sports has always been symbolic of war. The symbolism has been
loose and vague because the sports battlefield is clearly not a war zone, besides in our mind. The
terms can be seen in every arena, every venue, every sport. Blitz, field general, cannon for an
arm, volley, blown up, a battle at the plate, even neutral zone comes from the battlefield. Athletes
are referred to as warriors and they are engaging in battle, in pseudo warfare. It s not new or
different to hear that type of jargon because looking backing to history sports did serve as a
temporary battlefield. The Mayans used the ball game to settle many disputes, Native Americans

Marriages are based on love, they talk about love for one another as Jesus said I give you a new

someone one must be able to completely forgive them, just as Jesus forgave Peter for denying him

The Theme Of Perfection In The Birth-Mark By Nathaniel...
Hawthorne illustrates an awe inspiring example of how human imperfection is natural and the
way we are created is how we shall remain, perfectly imperfect. It is difficult not to consider the
world today and how much plastic surgeons profit and customers pay, just to reflect an ideal image.
This story is published in the eighteenth century, which depicts a mad scientist (Aylmer) who claims
to have the ability to create perfection in the imperfect, Godly creation of his wife (Georgiana). The
marriageunion is without happiness because of a small birthmark on Georgiana s cheek, which
Aylmer aspires to eliminate with his impeccable scientific expertise. In his short storyThe Birth

Georgiana s birth mark is also crimson, Hawthorne foreshadows the danger in relation to the
disappearance or elimination of the specific color. For Aylmer, the obsessive need to remove the
specifically colored mark ends the life of his wife; For Hawthorne and Sophia, the loss of the
exact color presents apprehension and the end of life as they know it.
When the desire for perfection becomes more important than life itself, this proves a greater
flaw within character. Aylmer has a dream of removing the mark, which leads to the death of
Georgiana, his wife. In Aylmer s mind, the mark represents his wife s liability to sin, sorrow,
decay and death (Hawthorne 341). For this reason, he feels the urge to remove it immediately.
As time passes, Georgiana begins to shudder at his gaze (341). She grows to hate the mark that
she once felt brought her beauty and charm. Georgiana s eagerness to eliminate the mark grows
stronger than Aylmer s because she yearns for him to look at her with adoration rather than
disgust. The dream, which Aylmer pays little mind, foreshadows the end result s reality. Aylmer
does indeed kill his wife by removal of the birth mark. He causes the mark to vanish, but as it
fades, so does her life. In essence, the goal to possess other worldly perfection is impossible and
not human, in an attempt to create this type of perfection, life can be

driver will follow. This eliminates many of the deadhead miles that result in reaching an off course
refueling station.
Driving Performance
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that driver impact on fuel efficiency is, as
much as, 33%. GPS fleet management systems monitor driving behavior that waste fuel, such as
hard acceleration, excessive use of air conditioning, hard breaking, idling, and driving at
inconsistent speeds. These behaviors often improve when drivers become aware that they are being
monitored, however, fleet managers can trigger alerts for driving actions that are both unsafe, and
wasteful of fuel.
Preventative Maintenance and Repair
Maintenance and repair are the second largest operational expenses for fleets. Professionals
advocate that a rigorous regimen of preventative maintenance is essential for efficient and profitable
fleet management. Not only does preventative

Positive Impact Of Christopher Columbus s Discoveries
Positive Impact of Christopher Columbus s Discoveries
The world is a better place because of Christopher Columbus important discoveries in the New
World. His explorations resulted in the vast expansion of property for Europe, the exchange of
goods and cultures between countries and a change in the worldview of geography. Columbus s
explorations were the catalyst for unprecedented trade known as the Columbian Exchange, which
started the exchange of goods and ideas that would last for centuries and change the world forever.
His discoveries unearthed new perspectives and created a mix of diverse biology between Europe
and the New World. These exchanges changed the world we live in today and will continue to fuel
centuries of exploration and discoveries. The Columbian Exchange was the beginning of the
expansion of trade between the New World and Europe. The Columbian Exchange started the flow
of goods between continents that had not shared the same borders since Pangaea. Columbus
voyage, along with the many voyages that followed, disrupted much of the biological segregation
brought about by continental drift. (McNeil, 1). Journalist Charles Mann states in his research for
his book, 1493: Uncovering the New World Columbus Created, on the Columbian Exchange that
No other person, changed the face of the Earth as radically as Columbus did. Columbus crossing of
the Atlantic, Mann says, marked the start of a new age, not only for the Americasbut also for

Compare And Contrast The Treaty Of Versailles And The...
The League of Nations, and The Paris Peace Conference and The Treaty of Versailles had many
comparisons and contrasts. In addition, The League of Nations, and The Treaty of Versailles were
both made after World War I to be sure that another war would not happen in the future; both of
these solutions were mobilized when our world was oppressed, but many believe that both of them
have similarities and differences. To, conclude, both bureaucracies (The League of Nations, and The
Paris Peace Conference and The Treaty of Versailles) had similar details; the countries involved, the
leaders involved, but they had the same reasons for making agreements for peace. In addition, both
had different details; the countries that were and were not involved, the other leaders involved, and
the way they made the contracts.
To begin, The League of Nations, and The Paris Peace Conference and the Treaty of Versailles
were equivalent in copious procedures. First of all, approximately two of the countries that
participated in the solutions to end wars incorporated Italy and France. Similar leaders, however,
included President, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such as, what they both accurately mean; meaning, The League of Nations is a league, and The
Paris Peace... is a treaty. A league is a diminutive group of people working together to benefit a
cause or charity, but a treaty is an agreement including different countries that has rules of the
mutual relationship; most times the rules were ingenious. Equally important, both of the treaty and
the league involved different countries; all except for two were the same which makes a big
discrepancy because of all the countries that were involved. Similarly, they(The League of Nations
and The Paris Peace...)both have, except for two, different world leaders that participated in the
events. There are multiple other differences, and similarities, but might just be the most

A Interview On The Playboy Enterprise
General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: To inform the audience of history the Playboy Enterprise while providing well
researched and collaborative support from experts.
Central Idea: Through researching the Playboy Enterprise I learned the history behind the
legendary Hugh Hefner, as well as the history behind the Playboy bunny logo and the history
behind the famous Playboy magazine.
Introduction
I want you to trust me for a second. Close your eyes and clear your mind and listen to the sound
of my voice. Playboy, I want you to envision anything that reminds you of the word Playboy, now
open your eyes. From the look on the majority of your faces the word Playboy brings you to a
smile. Whether you enjoy the word Playboy or not, is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He would later on leave Esquire because they denied him a 5 dollar raise. That is the turning point
for Mr. Hugh Hefner. When he left Esquire Mr. Hugh Hefner was determined to make his own
publication.
Mr. Hugh Hefner raised $8,000 from 45 investors which included $2,000 from his mother and
brother Keith combined to launch Playboy magazine. In an interview with CNN I learned that Mr.
Hugh Hefner had originally planned to title the magazine Stag Party but he received a cease and
desist letter from the lawyer for Stag Magazine, saying Stag felt that the title would be an
infringement. (Adler)
Mr. Hugh Hefner stated that a colleague suggested the name Playboy after a defunct automobile
company. Mr. Hugh Hefner stated he liked the name, as he thought it reflected high living and
sophistication.
Transition: Now that I have told you the history behind the legendary Hugh Hefner, let me tell you
the history behind the Playboy magazine.
The Playboy magazine has such a rich history.
As per they Playboy Enterprise website, the first Playboy magazine was published in December
of 1953, their cover featured Marilyn Monroe with a one page center fold and sold over 50,000
copies. The magazine had a theme which was called Sweetheart of the Month which had a nude
photo of Marilyn Monroe.
The magazine decided to go a different route in 1954 where they released their second issue in
January which would now become the blue print for have three page

Creatine Essay
Creatine
What evidence is given for Creatine scientific or testimonial?
The evidence I will provide is strictly scientific, the information comes from the Journal of Sports
Nutrition. The article is written by Richard B. Kreider, Exercise Sport Nutrition Laboratory
Department of Human Movement Sciences and Education The University of Memphis. The author
has many credentials, such as his testing of finding the effects of six weeks of creatine
monohydrate supplementation in male and female track athletes, which can be found in the Journal
of Strength and Conditioning. All of his research is peer reviewed.
Does the experimental testing of Creatine answer all questions asked such as will Creatine increase
mass and strength? Was a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Periodized heavy resistance training was performed for 12 wk. Creatine or placebo capsules
were consumed 25 grams per day for 1 wk followed by a maintenance dose of 5 grams per day
for the remainder of the training. RESULTS: After 12 wk, significant increases in body mass and
fat free mass were greater in creatine than placebo subjects. After 12 wks, increases in bench press
and squat were greater in creatine subjects. Compared with placebo subjects, creatine subjects
demonstrated significantly greater increases in muscle total, creatine concentrations were
unchanged in placebo subjects. Muscle creatine was significantly elevated after 1 wk in creatine
subjects (22%), and values remained significantly greater than placebo subjects after 12 wk.
Average volume lifted in the bench press during training was significantly greater in creatine
subjects during weeks 5 8. No negative side effects to the supplementation were reported.
CONCLUSION: Creatine supplementation enhanced fat free mass, physical performance, and
muscle morphology in response to heavy resistance training, presumably mediated via higher
quality training sessions. This study was conducted by Richard B. Kreider of the Exercise Sport
Nutrition Laboratory Department of Human Movement Sciences and Education The University of
Memphis. The one concern I have with this study is it seemed to leave out the limitations that
Creatine may have on some body

Walmart Strategy
Introduction
Wal Mart the world s largest retailer in 2006, next to only Exxon Mobil, with an 8.9% retail store
market share in the US and a global turnover of $312 billion, is the most famous example of a
successful retail strategy. However, Wal Mart s international operations spread across 14 markets
outside US, has been a mixed bag of experiences for the company. Despite Wal Mart s impressive
track record and strength, the question is, How can it stay ahead? given the rapidly changing retail
landscape, newly emerging markets and aggressive global competitors.
Business Model
Wal Mart operates under nine different retail formats through primarily three retailingsubsidiaries:
Wal Mart Stores Division U.S., Sam s Club, and Wal Mart... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Corporate Culture
A strong emphasis on customer service, and highly motivated personnel (helped by a quasi
religious corporate culture) has been nurtured over the years. In doing so, Wal Mart ratcheted up its
own overall productivity В— and made it impossible for any competitor to survive without
emulating its template. All the same its corporate culture has lent it a certain strategic complexity
that makes it difficult to emulate.
Economies of Scale
The scale of Wal Mart s operations has given it primarily two advantages:
Learning curve effect: Un matched expertise in retail business in the US has lead to very high
productivity levels. Years of trial and error with various store formats and distribution channels has
resulted increased organizational leaning and reduced operational costs.
Cash Reserves: This enables Wal Mart to respond to changes in the environment and competitor
moves very quickly. It also enables expansion plans with exactly causing a lock out since there is
no dearth of funds.
International Business Strategy
Internationally, the Company operated units in Argentina (12), Brazil (294), Canada (278), China
(63), Costa Rica (133), Germany (85), Guatemala (122), Honduras (37), Japan (391), Mexico (828),
Nicaragua (36), Puerto Rico (54), El Salvador (59), South Korea (16) and the United Kingdom
(323).

Science I Term Paper The research paper that this term paper is based on is Interactions Among Plant Transcription Factors Regulating Expression of Stress responsive Genes, Sony Malhotra and R. Sowdhamini, National Center for Biological Sciences, June 2014, Bioinformatics and Biology Insights. Abstract: Plants are known to respond to abiotic stress by up or down regulating their genes. This is done by activating transcription factors. It is known that these transcription factors, though they have DNA binding domains, interact amongst each other for the regulation of gene production. In order to find out which transcription factors interact and how, the research uses genetic and molecular structure information available in databases and computationally analyses the data. The factors that lead to the conclusion of interaction between transcription factors includes spatial proximity and possible interaction poses. Molecular docking is used to predict the interaction poses and DockScore is a scoring system used to rank the interaction poses. Introduction: Plants are immobile and therefore need mechanisms to counteract stresses that they face from their environment. Cold, high light, drought, salinity, abscisic acid, rehydration and combination of stresses like cold drought salt stress are common abiotic stresses that plants encounter. In order to deal with these stresses, plants either up regulate or down regulate their genes; that is, they increase the production of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Literary Devices In The Great Gatsby In this excerpt from The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, there are many literary devices that assist the audience in understanding the narrator, Nick Carraway, and his view of the Valley of Ashes. The word choice and details used throughout the passage greatly succeed at making the Valley it s own, distinguishable land. In addition, Fitzgerald uses figurative language like metaphors to give the reader a better understanding of the the depressing and dreary setting. Without the use of these devices, Fitzgerald might not have been able to develop this recurring setting in the novel. One of the ways Fitzgerald manages to flesh out the scenery is through the use of diction. Diction is the wordchoice and the connotation of the words that are seen in the text. There is a great example of diction in the fourth sentence of the first paragraph, where the narrator Nick Carraway uses words like bleak, spasms, and the phrase drift endlessly to describe the Valley of Ashes. These words typically have a negative or demoralizing connotation, which perfectly portrays how the characters feel about the Valley and how Fitzgerald wants the audience to perceive the Valley. The specific word choice reinforces the idea that people that live within the Valley feel stuck, and that being there for such a long amount of time has made them lose hope that one day they would be among the debutantes of the East and West Egg. In the same fashion, Fitzgerald develops the Valley of Ashes through ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Negative Effects On Public Media Today the data linking violence in the television to violence in society are superior to those linking cancer and tobacco (Grossman 31). The digital revolution of television symbolizes that the technological advances have taken the lead of modern society. The relation between children s violent television viewing and their development is assignable in various ways. Research studies raised some significant questions about this field and suggest the possible negative consequences that televised violencecould bring to the youth. As the most common and popular public media, televisiondeserved society s critical attention on its detrimental effects among children. People who is responsible for major consequences should be attacked by actions such as allowing or profiting inappropriate images on children s programs, which can cause both physical and psychological problems to the youth viewers and even lead to criminal behaviors. Violent images on children s television programs should be discern as the complex interplay that lead to major consequences in children s future development. Life Of Pi Theme Essay Examples Theme Essay Life of Pi shows that humans and animals should do anything necessary to survive whatever challenges they face to live instead of just accepting death. Whatever ways that help one to survive are necessary, even if they compromise personal values, are vicious, or are wicked. Pi, a human; a hyena, and a blind man all fight to survive in a variety of ways that are examples of this thesis. Jumping is a powerful movement and it must be trained using exercises which require a high power output. In a previous article, I had described the importance of strength in vertical jump training development. A well developed strength program supplies the necessary force application in the power equation. Now it is time to discuss how to apply velocity to the power equation. Performing movements at a high velocity is the goal when designing power based exercises along with a second goal of focusing on maximum effort with each repetition. There are two major types of power exercises, those which involve more than body weight resistance and those utilizing only body weight. This article will discuss the application of performing power exercises which incorporate an added resistance through weight training. Power resistance exercises can fall into several categories: 1) weightlifting exercises with a low to moderate percentage ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Artificial Intelligence in Gibson s Idoru and Oshii s Ghost in the Shell Introduction If people knew what scientists are up to, they would not be sleeping as calmly as they do today. If only they knew, they would read more carefully what the cyberpunk authors have to say. The purpose of this work is not only to compare the pictures of Artificial Intelligence (hereafter referred to simply as AI) included in two major works of cyberpunk genre, but also to show the connection between those images and the reality we all live in or its nearest future. So what is the future of AI depicted in cyberpunk works like? And if, as Sterling suggests, science fiction writers pass on a cautionary message to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A useful addition to it is provided by the author who is considered one of the founders of the genre, William Gibson. In one of his interviews he stated that it is about the present. It s not really about an imagined future. It s a way of trying to come to terms with the awe and terror inspired . . . by the world in which we live (Anonymous collective work). This opinion is in accordance with the opening quotation from Sterling. Both opinions, too, answer the question of why the examples from this particular genre were chosen for the sake of comparison shown in this very work. Indeed, there is a reason for doing this: the resemblance to reality cyberpunk works bear. Obviously, there are other genre specific features that characterize cyberpunk: like the presence of the Internet (that is often combined into one entity with virtual reality and takes up different names: Cyberspace, Matrix, Multiverse, partly because it was invented in cyberpunk literature before it was invented in reality and named the Internet) or the influence of almighty organizations in the form of international corporations or mafia like criminal orders of different kinds. These elements, too, appear in the works described herein, but they are just other elements of a picture already defined. Link Between Mis And The Circadian Clock Aaron Kendrick Essay 1 The Link between Myocardial Infarctions and the Circadian Clock The circadian clock holds large importance in a number of bodily functions including the cardiovascular system. In particular there are a number of connections between the circadian clock and myocardial infarctions (heart attacks). Myocardial infarctions (MIs) as a term is more commonly used in scientific journals than heart attacks, therefore, the term myocardial infarction (MI) will be used throughout the duration of this paper. Overall a discussion of the link between MIs and the circadian clock, the effect of disrupted sleep on MIs, and certain cases where there is an attenuation of the link between the circadian clock and MIs will be considered ... Furthermore, they determined that the lack of an evening peak may be due to less population wide synchronization of MI triggers between 6 and 8 pm (Kanth et al, 2013). However, they did not express what these triggers were. Although the common triggers for MIs are an increase in sympathetic activity, increase in platelet agreeability and a decrease in plasma fibrinolytic activity. Which means that hemostasis, the stopping of flow of blood, is altered and an imbalance between myocardial (muscle of the heart) oxygen supply and demand occurs in the morning. Together these triggers are known to potentially lead to acute MI (Kanth et al, 2013). Therefore, I infer that these triggers have been desynchronized among the population between 6 and 8pm. Another study supports this idea and showed that the number of circulating platelets and their ability to aggregate follows a circadian rhythm, where the highest number of platelets was found in the afternoon, but an increase in aggregation occurred in the morning. This paper also discussed that the peak levels of lipoprotein and fibrinogen, which are discussed in the previous article as plasma fibrinolytic activity , coincided with the peak frequency of MIs (Fournier et al, 2015). However, overall neither paper makes an explicit case for why there is a desynchronization of triggers during the evening ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It gives the readers a fun and festive theme and it is no secret that Sir Andrew Aguecheek is one of the most comedic characters in the play. Andrew is described as a foolish night who is a wimp and coward. He is good friends with Sir Toby Belch, a drunken knight who takes up residence at the Countess s house who s described as a heavy drinker. Andrew adds to the fun in Twelfth Night due to recurring reasons. His low intelligence, his relationship with the ladies and his appearance. These reasons help add humourand fun to the play while also making Sir Andrew s character particularly comedic One of the major flaws of Sir Andrew Aguecheeks is his low intelligence. This is because he often gets him in dangerous situations that are planned by his friend Sir Toby. Toby sees Andrew as an easy target to plan a trick on and describes him as if he were opened and you/ find so much blood in his liver as will clog the foot of a/ flea. (3.2.55 77) The trick played on Sir Andrew results in him getting hurt and beaten. This adds to a con argument as Sir Andrew s lack of intelligence gets him in a situation where he unexpectedly gets in trouble resulting in mass confusion. However, Sir Andrew s foolishness helps add to the festive spirit in Twelfth Night. Andrew s misunderstanding of Illyria results in a lot of humor as he navigates through the situations he faces in the play. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Creatine or placebo capsules were consumed 25 grams per day for 1 wk followed by a maintenance dose of 5 grams per day for the remainder of the training. RESULTS: After 12 wk, significant increases in body mass and fat free mass were greater in creatine than placebo subjects. After 12 wks, increases in bench press and squat were greater in creatine subjects. Compared with placebo subjects, creatine subjects demonstrated significantly greater increases in muscle total, creatine concentrations were unchanged in placebo subjects. Muscle creatine was significantly elevated after 1 wk in creatine subjects (22%), and values remained significantly greater than placebo subjects after 12 wk. Average volume lifted in the bench press during training was significantly greater in creatine subjects during weeks 5 8. No negative side effects to the supplementation were reported. CONCLUSION: Creatine supplementation enhanced fat free mass, physical performance, and muscle morphology in response to heavy resistance training, presumably mediated via higher quality training sessions.
