Grandma Kuhn Definition Of A Mentor
Definition of mentor; An experienced and trusted advisor. We as catholics have some of the
strongest faith in our Lord, but who do we have as mentors? We all have different people we see
as mentors. Whether in sports, education, life, and in this case faith. For my faith mentor I look up
to my grandma Kuhn. I see her as the exact definition of mentor.
The family she has raised and started is very big with many, many grandkids and great grandkids.
She and my grandpa are the roots to the very large Kuhn family. She has been through hard times
and good. Through all she has kept her faith. This is why I chose her. Through thick and thin she
has remained a devoted catholic and always kept true to her ways.
My grandma has always showed faith by her actions. She has helped our church up until a
couple years ago when she finally showed her age at 96. She has made kettle corn at the Oconee
Fall Festival for years and years. For many years grandma would take truck loads of donations to
the appalachian mountains. Clothes, toys, supplies, whatever she and my grandpa could round up
they made the trek to the appalachians to help the people up there out. When my grandma was
able she went to every mass she could. Always in the same seat too. Before mass she would say
the rosary and most likely be ahead a decat. Everyone at her church knows her and how amazing her

She barely gets out anymore, besides around the house, but it doesn t stop her from receiving
communion. She makes sure every Sunday someone brings her the Eucharist. She can t do what
she used to but as of a couple year ago she went to church every day. Everytime I visit her she is in
the greatest mood. Always asking how I am and what I ve been up to. The reason I picked my
grandma is because she is a Christian I strive to be like. Every Sunday she receives communion, has
done many kind acts in her life, carries a rosary every where she goes, and is just a all around great

Chief Bromden Is The Narrator Of The Story, Which Furthers
Chief Bromden is the narrator of the story, which furthers the readers instinct that he is an
observer. The Chief is an Indian, who is strong and tall. He physically is one of the strongest
characters. The Chief manipulated the system, in order to stay under the radar. He pretended to be
deaf and dumb. This gave the Chief a heightened advantage over the other wards. Faculty spoke
freely infant of the Chief because they thought he could not share the information. Kesey
demonstrated the staff did not find Chief Bromden a threat early in the novel, They don t bother not
talking out loud about their hate secrets...they think I m deaf and dumb. (Kesey 1) This gives the
Chief more power than any other patient. He knows many secrets of the... Show more content on

The orderlies were Nurse Ratched s foot soldiers, they carried out her orders of abuse against the
men. The Chief, believed the orderlies were so instinctively connected to Nurse Ratched that
they could predict Nurse Ratched s moves before she gave them the command. They enjoyed
the power and control they could manifest working for the hospital. The orderlies are described
as young black men. They raped, physically assaulted and humiliated the men. A proven example
of their abuse was when they raped one of the wards, He s smothering curse into the mattress and
the black boy sitting on his head saying Tha s right, Mistuh Taber, tha s right... ( Kesey 36) The
orderlies used their power to humiliate the men. They enjoyed the abuse they inflected on the
men. After the fishing trip, Nurse Ratched had the orderlies scrub the mens genitals. One
patient, George feared dirt therefore did not believe he needed a scrubbing, he also feared soap
thus exacerbating his fear of the scrubbing. The orderlies of course found extreme privilege in
forcing George, But the black boy just ran the tube up against George s belly buton and
squeezed...George wrapped both arms around his belly and screamed. (Kesey 273) The orderlies
felt little empathy for the men, they thrived off of the pain they could inflect by their own will or
by the will of Nurse Ratched. Kesey, described many of the staff were violent and

The Adverse Effects of TV Essay examples
Years ago, society was full of hard working, fit, energetic people who diligently worked to
improve civilization. But then, society became infected by television. The virus slowly spread
from person to person and began to take over the lives of everyone it encountered. Over the course
of eight decades, the virus came to dictate every day activities and transformed a spirited species
into languid losers. Television has ultimately turned society into a vegetable garden that is
controlled by technological innovations that manipulate the order of our everyday lives. Those who
recognize the harm caused by technologydeclare that television is slowly replacing the education
and determination of mankind. With innovations such as Google and... Show more content on

Opponents of the advantages of television recognize that television, along with other technology, is
threatening the safety of American society as it advances more and more. These so called
improvements manipulate mankind into relying on technology for nearly everything, further
weakening the willpower of the human race to challenge this mistreatment. A theory formulated by
Raymond Kurzweil states that America is approaching a moment approximately 2045 where
computers will exceed the intelligence of the human brain. When that happens, artificial
intelligence will exist with mankind it may even have the ability to reproduce itself. The theory is
easily believed when people recognize the fact that computers and other forms of technology are
getting faster at an increasing rate. People rely on computers for work ethic, television for
entertainment, and internet for social relationships. If man does not change its habits and work to
inhibit their reliance on technology, the reality of 2045 is imminent. The human species will evolve
into a form that is not even comparable to the present condition of mankind we will soon be a
society driven by laziness and stupidity. Technological advancements must be put under control
before America reaches an age where artificial intelligence outweighs human life. Television,
computers, and other technological innovation may seem beneficial right now, but if they

Christian Life And The Teachings Of The Bible
I have been participating in the Korean language class on Monday and Wednesday from August
10 to now. Last Sunday, I participated in the 1st annual golden harvest 5k marathon. First, I d
like to discuss the spiritual concepts/values from text that relate to personal beliefs. I am a
Christian since birth. So all I d like to talk about is Christian life and the teachings of the bible.
Throughout my whole life, I have learned about spiritual things and what kind of spiritual things
are in my ego. The spiritual values that I always have is love, hope, and trust. Love is an element
that Christians value and have in their Christian mindand the bible says to love each other. I am
doing my best to understand this word throughout my whole life and it is the reason why I chose
my major Nursing. The dictionary meaning of love is an intense feeling of deep affection or
feel a deep romantic or sexual attachment to someone. The bible states that Christian love is
selfless and a giving love. I realized something when I went to Africa for doing some volunteer
work. I felt what it meant to be selfless and what it was to give love through volunteering and
now I keep this in mind through my life too. The second value is hope. All of religion is based on
hope, just like forgiveness, and going to heaven and waiting for God to give them something that
they want. But in the bible it says, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at
the revelation of JesusChrist (Peter

Essay on Hero
When someone is characterized as a hero they are often someone, who is very selfless, brave and
is of distinguished valor. They challenge people to some how or another follow in their footsteps,
and are often models to our society. Often inspiring and showing them that no matter what they
should reach for the stars. Hero s strive to find the best in people and not just in them.
Men such as Siddhartha, Moses and the Great Odysseus each show their special qualities of
heroes, and all were of admirable accomplishments. These great men gave us hope when we
thought there was none, and helped us realize that life isn t just about helping yourself, it s about
helping man kind.
During the time when the Egyptians were taking over the Hebrews, ... Show more content on

Odysseus shows and displays his courage and fearlessness to us even when all the odds are against
him. With all of that he still was able to beat the odds and return home and save his family from the
horrible suitors, taking over his home.
We come to understand Odysseus through his trial and tribulations, we see him as a great man, a
man who is a great conqueror and from this we begin to see him as a hero.
So what kind of hero Is Odysseus? We are shown that in some ways he is almost a tragic hero,
this is because always is just an inch away from reaching the goal of getting home and then
something happens so he is pulled far away again. Odysseus is put through so much for such a
long period of time yet he still manages to overcome it and become a great hero.
Searching for knowledge we meet Siddhartha, a man who gives up everything for his goal of
finding nirvana and himself. The only thing Siddhartha uses to reach his goal are his senses. All
he wants to be is himself, but his sense is being covered by his knowledge. It is during this time
Siddhartha finally realizes that he doesn t know his quot;self quot; and now see that he has avoided
finding it his whole life. We are shown that part of the journey he goes through is realizing that even
though he has great knowledge, it isn t enough without the experience. He realizes that experience
can be gained through practicing knowledge, not just thinking you have the

Student Athletes Are Deserving Of Economic Remuneration
The seven most popular sports (in order) in the United States are: NFL, MLB, NCAAF, auto
racing, NBA, NHL, and NCAAM (Rovell, 2014). Five of the sports included are professional
where the athletes are paid. However, two of them NCAAF and NCAAM are amateur sports
headed by student athletes who are not paid. When these college sports are on par with professional
organizations that are worth billions of dollars, then the amateurism behind the NCAAF and
NCAAM is questioned. In fact, the NCAA generates almost a billion dollars annually. Since the
athletes in question are amateurstudent athletes, paying them might damage the integrity of the
sports. Therefore, there is an ongoing contested debate over whether student athletes are deserving
of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, amateurism is an illusion because the NCAA insatiably embrace[s] commercialism in
all facets of intercollegiate athletics except on a single issue athlete compensation (Zola, 2013).
The 1980s is where NCAAM and NCAAF exploded as businesses. The Supreme Court, in 1984,
struck down the NCAA s restrictions on television appearances. This coincided with the government
deregulation of cable television and, ultimately, led to massive television contracts and sports
stations covering NCAAM and NCAAF. As the athletic departments of universities expanded
profoundly, they continued to reiterate the student in student athletes. By doing so, they built the
boundary up as an effective defense from allowing college athletes to get a cut of the newfound
income. In 1988, the NCAA became an effective private institution when the Supreme Court ruled
against Jerry Tarkanian and allowed the NCAA to dismiss due process during their investigations.
Amateurism, in the sake of college football and men s basketball, is a falsehood and a boundary
created by the NCAA and enforced by college coaches and athletic departments. The meaning
behind the category of student athletes was empowered by the NCAA in the 1950s to fend off
lawsuits and implement the sanctity of college sports as amateur sports. The NCAA s moral
authority lies in the term student athlete and is meant to conjure the nobility of amateurism, and the
precedence

Comparing Emile Durkheim s The Division Of Labor
In comparing Emile Durkheim s The Division of Labor in Society and readings from the The
Rules of Sociological Method to Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann s The Social Construction of
Reality in addition to Harriet Martineaus Morals and Manners, Morals of Slavery, and The Political
Nonexistence of Women, all of these authors investigate people as beings that are fundamentally
social that create the basis for society. Even though their perspectives have similar components
when it comes to fundamentally key ideas, they still tend to take different stances on viewing the
individuals involved in the process from micro and macro perspectives in order to understand the
correlation between the individual interacting with society s institutions... Show more content on

This author has had a particular focus on women in politics and how slaves were included in this
social structure during this time period making an effort to convey that all men are born equal and
free as her views were very radical during this time. In comparison to Martineau, Emile Durkheim
emphasizes that the division of labor is a key attribute to the social structure of society as the
general population continues to grow, people will naturally become more disciplined in specialized
professions that will ultimately create institutions as all of these specializations will work together
to benefit society. However, Durkheim does agree with Martineau to the extent that power is
diffused throughout society and ultimately belongs to the government. As government holds the
ultimate authority, punishment will be defined as a reaction as to what has violated laws that have
been instituted in order to maintain standards of moral order. Additionally, Berger and Luckmann
make it clear that it is because people are social beings, people create a society the more we interact
with one another as [man s] relationship to the surrounding environment is everywhere...structured
by his own biological constitution that people attach what they know to be the physical world and
build structural concepts that constitute our society. (Berger and Luckmann, 47.) All address to
some degree, that the social structure of society exists because we have instituted some

Personal Statement Of Computational Biology

In this fast paced ever changing world, there is always a need to increase the efficiency and reduce
the time required for a particular problem to be solved. Most biological experiments, apart from
being time consuming, are unpredictable and difficult to maintain, which results in a wastage of
resources. With the advent of computers and their increased application in many different fields of
study, we can now theoretically test out the hypothesis before proceeding with the practical
experiment. Computational biology, as it is termed, is paving the path towards achieving this. With
the success of the human genome project, the need for biologists equipped with the ability to look

Small Beginnings
I always heard growing up, Great things can emerge from small beginnings . My mom made sure
that my 4 sisters and I know that. Being a child of two ministers, my family has experience working
with small businesses and ministries, for our church was small. Unfortunately, things did not work
for our church, so we had shut down. My family then attended Family Christian Center (FCC) in
Munster, Indiana. FCC is a mega church with fancy lighting, a ginormous stage, and large screens.
The pastor of the church had great illustrated messages.
I attended Two52 Youth Culture, FCC s youth ministry. There I met Sade. Everyone enjoyed her
company she always had a positive attitude. She helped those dealing with depression, substance
abuse, dysfunctional households and financial hardships the same problems she went through as
a teen. She led youth meetings on Tuesdays in which anyone can learn theater and dance. We
would meet in a cafeteria and have a brief bible study accompanied with short skits, then
followed by snacks and practice. Sade also wanted us to show our talent beyond Two52, so she
started a pop out team. We visited malls and danced amid the crowds. Johnny, a teen guitarist
serenaded strangers while the rest of us pass out flyers.
Sade shared dream of owning a business. She wanted a center where teenagers learn all about the
Arts. She talked about having art classes, drum sessions, guitar lessons, photography, and of course,

It is of common knowledge that there proves to be a significant difference in what it takes
physiologically speaking when comparing athletes of different sporting backgrounds to one
another. Why is a marathon runner not as powerful as a rugby player or why can t a 400m sprinter

underpins the study of exercise and the effect it has on the human body in regards to athletic

Food Intake 3 Days
The Encyclopedia of Women s Health (2004) defines nutrition as the sum of processes involved
with the consumption of food. The human body depends on nutrients from carbohydrates, proteins,
fats, water, and fiber to function. Nutrition, exercise, and an appropriate diet work cohesively to
maintain that the body is working productively and at full capacity. This week s assignment
required the recording of daily food intakes for a span of three days. Data from each meal was

nutrition, diet, and physical activity are dependent on each other and impact health. The ... Show

The body needs lipids to generate energy, but a surplus in lipid intake contributes to the
development of heart disease (Nall, 2011). The honey baked ham and chicken that my family
enjoyed did have a fatty film of saturated fat. I also tend to cook with milk and butter that is
another saturated fat. On top of my bread pudding on Saturday was a tablespoon scoop of vanilla
ice cream.
Personal Intake
After reviewing foods that provide the body with protein, carbohydrates, and lipids, it was
imperative to review my own personal intakes. My personal intake for the duration of the study
was 2011kcal with my recommended DRI at 2204 kcal. Most of my daily intakes were within the
recommended range, but there are areas within my diet that I need to adjust.
Protein
My protein DRI was to stay within 55 193g of which I consumed 72 g still within the recommend
range for my individual parameters. Proteins are essential for growth, tissue repair, and enzyme
protection (Cespedes, 2012). This project was eye opening as I realized the need to manage and
balance what I eat with my physical activity to offset my consumption intakes.
Complete Protein
It is noteworthy that majority of the meals I consumed centered on complete proteins. Some meals
had both complete protein and incomplete protein such as rice and corn. A complete protein source

The Mental Destruction of Blanche Dubois Essay
Tennessee William s play A Street Car Named Desire offers a glimpse into the harsh reality faced
by single southern woman in the 1940s. The 1940s was a time when females were viewed as
delicate and fragile; therefore, it was understood that a male companion was a necessity to keep
them safe and secure (Cook 84). The character of Blanche Duboisembodies the 1940s distressed
female as she struggles with her environment. She is battling guilt, loneliness and financial
insecurity when she arrives in Elysian Fields. Critics and audiences alike have mixed reactions to
Blanche and her role as the tragic protagonist. In The Space of Madness and Desire Anne Fleche

He suggests they could be there for one another because Blanche needs somebody too (116). To
Mitch s suggestion she replies with relief, Sometimes there s God so quickly! (116). She feels as
though all of her needs and wants have been answered, giving her hope for a secure future.
Blanche needs Mitch as a stabilizing force in her life; if her relationship with him fails, she
knows she faces a world that offers few prospects for a financially challenged, unmarried woman
approaching middle age. She tacitly admits to Mitch that she needs him when she accepts his
embrace, but her fears of acknowledging her past and current situation overpower her and prevent
her from telling the full truth. She hides her past not only from Mitch, but also from herself
because to acknowledge it is to also admit the unhealthy choices she has made. When Stanley tells
Mitch about Blanche s blemished past Mitch recognizes that Blanche s deceptions have relied on
a symbolic and literal darkness which obscures reality. When Mitch asks Blanche to be honest
about herself she says, I don t want realism. I want Magic! I don t tell truth, I tell what ought to be
the truth (145). In these lines Blanche clearly expresses her desire not to deal with reality; this
inability to face her circumstances signifies that Blanche is not recovering from her mental stress,
but rather descending further into it. Blanche becomes desperate and delusional and her descent
into mental

Biological Determinism And Why Sociologist Have Mounted...
This assignment is going to look at the concept of biological determinism and why sociologist have
mounted such a powerful attack. Due to time constraints and word count, this essay will focus on
gender and race with reference to biological determinism.
The term biological determinism it is a theory that looks into a person s behaviour and also their
genetic makeup, it does not take into account any other social factors which surrounds the
environment. It argues the fact that the biological factors i.e., genes and genetics are based on the
way an individual behaves over time. Psychologist Charles Darwin, Mendel believed our bodies
changed to handle the environment . Helen Cronin (2007) states that as human beings we have
evolved but we still have this legacy today the world has changed but our minds have not. Darwin
uses this theory as natural selection he thought that both men and women minds are predetermined
to do different things in society i.e. women have children and men go out hunting. By this he is
referring to the nature side (genetics) of nature versus nurture (environment) argument.

Functionalism And Robert Merton s Model Of Functionalism
Sociology uses three different perspectives, or theories, when looking at human issues. These three
theories are known as functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interaction. Functionalism is
considered a macro theory and has two different models. The focus will be on Merton s model of
functionalism, which has three parts to it. Conflict theoryis also, a macro theory that views society
as a place of inequality between two groups. It looks at five inequalities, which are economic,
gender, racial, age, and sexual orientation inequalities. The last theory is symbolic interaction and it
is the only micro theory. It is a way to analyze how people s behavior define themselves and the
people they interact with. Abortion is the issue that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A dysfunction of abortion could be that overuse of the procedure could contribute to a declining
population. Another dysfunction is that the procedure could be used to favor one gender over
the other and cause one gender to be more populated than the other in certain areas of the world.
If abortion is inaccessible, then it could cause women to lose their life, or cause health issues,
when they try to get an unsafe abortion. Those are all three parts of Merton s model of
functionalism. Now the next theory to apply to the issue of abortion is conflict theory. Conflict
theory is the idea that social behavior can be understood by looking at the conflicts between
groups of those that benefit and the ones who don t. It views society as a place of inequality. This
theory looks at economic, gender, racial, age, and sexual orientation inequalities. First is a look at
the economic inequalities between the high income and low income women who consider, or get,
an abortion. Statistics show that low income women are more likely to get an abortion, which could
be due to contraceptives being difficult to access. Low income women may not have the best sex
education due to poor education opportunities, resulting in higher unwanted pregnancies. High
income women will be able to get the best health care providers to get an abortion. Next is gender
inequality between men and women. A major gender inequality with abortion, is that the politicians
who vote

When It Comes To The Fourth Amendment And Searching A...
When it comes to the Fourth Amendment and searching a person s car or their person, there are a
few factors to take into consideration. In order for an officer to search an individual s car, they
must have consent, otherwise the search is unreasonable and whatever evidence seized could be
inadmissible in the court of law. However, it is possible to conduct a search without consent and
seize evidence without a warrant but there ought to be probable causeor reasonable suspicion. The
two differ in the sense that reasonable suspicion is based off past experiences and expertise.
Probable cause is needed for a search to take place; conversely if there is no probable cause but an
officer has enough reasonable suspicion, they still are allowed to... Show more content on

On the other hand, in Minnesota v. Dickerson (1993), if an officer can readily identify an object
from a pat down, they can use their discretion and experience and retrieve it if they know it to be
true. If they are unsure and take it, whatever was seized is inadmissible in court. In legal terms,
this is known as the plain feel doctrine. This allows a police officer to seize objects during a
legitimate pat down search if by plain feel he reasonably believes it to be contraband. Just because
the plain feel doctrine has been established does not granted officers the right to touch, it simply
permits an officer to interpret tactile sensations to identify an object during a pat down (Poulin,
1997 pg. 23).
There is a strong correlation between the Fourth Amendment and racial profiling. I asked a
police officer what they believed was the main reason for a lawsuit against an officer and they
said violations in regards to the Fourth Amendment followed by failure to act. Take the United
States v. Brignoni Ponce case for instance. A police officer pulled over a drive that looked to be
Mexican because he believed them to be an illegal immigrant. The problem was that officers were
roving the border and stopping individuals for no reason other than to see if they were illegal
immigrants. The Fourth Amendment held that a patrolman is prohibited to crowd the Mexican
border just to stop and

Analysis of the private security industry data
Over the last several decades, a series of reports and studies have examined the private security
industry. Originally these studies played a roll in defining private security and documenting the
growth and trends in the industry. These studies however, have become outdated and the surveys
used in this research have produced data that the who population cannot utilize or that are
potentially subject to nonresponse bias. Because of this, it is unclear how well one can use these
sources to utilize this data to make assumptions or produce reports on private security as a whole.
Currently, there is no existing data source ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2) Cover a broad range of topics . A targeted, national (or international) study of the private security
industry should cover a broad range of topics in order to minimize any potential measurement error
caused by combining data from multiple sources that use different definitions of private security.
Therefore, it is important that a future study not only fill in the recognized information gaps on
private security, such as the value of the industry as a whole, but also obtain reliable and updated
statistics, such as employee demographics, that are sufficiently covered by other surveys.

3) Collect data collection rigorously by geography. Research must combat methodological and
response rate challenges that affected past data collection efforts based on the specific area. This
should include the development of a sampling frame that provides more representative coverage of
the companies from specific geographies. Furthermore, procedures must include non response
follow up and clearly defined geographical categories to ensure a reasonable response rate.

The industry
Private security is arguably essential to aid in the security and safety of persons and property,.
Private security officers are responsible for protecting many of the nation s institutions and

Presentation Of A Multi Billion Dollar Industry
Presentation publicizing is a multi billion dollar industry that has generally utilized a valuing plan
taking into account the quantity of impressions conveyed. The quantity of impressions of a
promotion is basically the quantity of downloads of that notice. One impression, nonetheless, does
not separate between a notice that is in perspective for five seconds or five minutes. Since
promoters look for brand acknowledgment and review, we ask whether a period based bookkeeping
of publicizing can better adjust to publicists objectives. This work plans to model the fundamental
relationship between promotion presentation timeand the likelihood that a viewer will recall an ad.
We explore this inquiry by means of two behavioral investigations, directed utilizing Amazon
Mechanical Turk, in which individuals saw Web pages joined by promotions. The measure of time
the advertisements were in perspective was either decided endogenously (as an element of perusing
velocity) or exogenously (as a component of a clock and irregular task). Our outcomes propose that
for presentation times of up to one moment, there is a solid, causal impact of introduction time on
promotion acknowledgment and review, with the peripheral impacts decreasing at spans past this
level. Straightforward models portraying memory reaction as a component of the logarithm of
introduction time give a solid match. Also, we find that notices that are shown when the Web page

According to Exodus 20:11 : For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea,
and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day
and hallowed it. This verse is found in the middle part of the TРµn CommandmРµnts. God told
the Israelites that the reason they had to work six days and rest on the seventh day, is because
He created everything and rested on the seventh day. It is thus not realistic to think we have to
work for six long periods (millions of years) and rest for another long period. The Bible also states
that Jesus woke up three days after his crucifixion, which could not mean millions of years.
Meredith Kline, from Westminster Theological Seminary proposed that Genesis should be
interpreted metaphorically and not literally like most of us do. Old Earth creationists believe that
scientific evidence cannot be overlooked. Scientists use the method of radiometric aging from
meteorite material to determine the age of Earth. Fossils were found that are much older than a few
thousand years, for example dinosaurs.

I personally believe in biblical evolution. Science has an explanation for how life is evolving but
does not have a valid explanation of how life initially began, that is where science and Christianity
are compatible. Christianity can

Essay on Analysis of The Party Is Over by Mile Lofgren
The Party is Over by Mike Lofgren goes undercover to reveal what politics is like behind the
screen. I believe this book was more for criticizing the GOP and Republicans that the Democrats.
The GOP and Republicans are a lot different in politics now than they were decades ago. The
book talks about how the Republicans are against the government, how Republicans are anti
science and anti intellectual, and also how they view religious rights. All of these lead to problems
with politics. The Democrats were brought up than the Republicans, but were still mentioned. They
too did some damage in today s politics. This book informs us on how the Republicans went crazy

Honestly, science is way more accurate than religion will ever be. It is bizarre to completely knock
scientific research and scientific research off their political agenda, because of their religious
affiliations. The Republican Party has been overtaken by religion sense the rise of the religious
right. The religious fundamentalism may have been the key factor in the transformation of the
Republican Party. It is the largest single bloc in their voting base. The GOP bases themselves and
others off of religious beliefs. The Party is Over states, that the Republican Party cuts slack to the
candidates that claimed to have been washed by of the lamb and reborn into a more Christian life.
From this they overlook the candidate s flaws, if they agree with the Republican Party s
fundamentalists values. I took these previous statements as an inefficient way to choose if a
candidate is good for presidency. What if the candidate was involved with multiple accounts of
misdemeanors? Robertson, the founder of the Christian Coalition stated: Those people in the
Republican primary have got to lay off this stuff. They re forcing their leaders, the front runners,
into position that will mean they lose the general election.
Even Robertson agrees with the fact that judging a candidate based off of their religious beliefs is
no way to unprofessional way to elect them. Continuing on I don t think fundamentalists are fit for
presidency because of their authoritarian traits.

Introduction
Groupon is a Deal of the day website that features discounted gift certificates usable at local or
national companies that was launched in November 2008. The first market for Groupon was
Chicago, followed soon thereafter by Boston, New York City, and Toronto. By October 2010
Groupon served more than 150 markets in North America and 100 markets in Europe, Asia and
South America and had over 35 million registered users.
A sum of $1 million was invested to develop the idea and in April 2010, the company was valued

Not only will a business have to offer a steep discount for a product or service, but will also have to
pay a high commission structure to Groupon, just for listing the deal.
The theory behind small businesses doing this is, even though they would lose money on the
coupons, they believe they can attract long term customers. Unfortunately, this theory is wrong.
The businesses find customer volume falls off after the deals are done and they are not much
better off than before they offered the coupon. Business owners have no incentive to list deals
through Groupon. In fact, it would end up hurting the business by doing so. So why would a
business owner renew a deal on Groupon?
The company s problem is not related to who is CEO, but it is about the business model. In fact,
the next CEO will run into the very same issues that Mason had. Unless the new CEO can
introduce a radical change in the entire business model, it is very unlikely much can be done to turn
the company around. Even with Mason gone, investors will just stay away.
This is a company, which should have thought twice before going public. Eventually the volume
of coupons will drastically fall and no matter how big Groupon s sales force is, it will not be able
to stop the bleeding when the coupon issuers do not benefit. Groupon s best option is to adapt to a
stronger business model and not just focus on management change.
Why is the Internet necessary for the company or how can it benefit?

Basic Parameters That Affect The Performance
7.Basic Parameters That Affect The Performance in RTOS
7.1Multi tasking and preemptable:
In RTOS the system have to be multitasking and preemptable because those two features make the
RTOS Scheduler end any lower priority task to execute the higher ones or to release some
resources for other tasks that urgently need those resources. Also the system have to handle
different level of priorities of interrupts.(Yerraballi,R. 2000)
7.2Dynamic deadline identification:
In some scheduling algorithms such as (EDF)the deadline is converted to priority levels. Then we
can control priorities by controlling the deadlines. Although such an approach is error prone,
nonetheless it is employed for lack of a better solution (Buttazzo, 2005).
7.3Predictable synchronization:
The threads of the system need to communication and to be synchronized in a timely efficient and
predictable way.
7.4Sufficient Priority Levels:
In the scheduling algorithms based on priorities. There must be enough levels of priorities. Priority
inversion occur when a low level priority hold the resource that the the high level priority is
waiting for or blocked due to this resource, and the lower priority is delayed because low priority
task. Two workarounds in dealing with priority inversion, namely priority inheritance and priority
ceiling protocols (PCP), need sufficient priority levels.
7.5Predefined latencies:
The timing of the systems must be predictable and this is done by defining task switching

Essay On Autistic Children
Autism is a disabling brain disorder that affects the way in which children or adults with autism

the way they look, whether or not one kid is autistic. Many children with autism have a hard time
using words to say what they want or need;, it is all part of their vocabulary how quickly can they

what other words to use differently (AutismSpeaks, 2012). When speaking to a child with autism

In this modern day it is almost unheard of for someone to be malnourished in the western world,

There are a few problems with modern day living, time and convenience. Today s eating habits are
very much dependant on heavily processed foods. When foods are processed, it s mainly done for
commercial purposes to extend shelf life during these processing methods. Vital nutrients are lost

APA Writing Course Analysis
Introduction
Life is a cycle of learning and the dissemination of what we ve learned. In each day of our lives
we learn something new to add to our list of skills and knowledge. When I first entered university,
I thought the writing courses were useless and just a waste of time since we all can write. Later,
however, I realized how those courses are beneficial in improving our critical thinking and
communication skills not only the style of writing.
Body
At the beginning of this semester, I had little knowledge about the APA writing format and how to
look for relevant sources. I also found it very difficult to build an argument and track down
solutions. Now, on the other hand, I can differentiate between the sources that are valuable and...

Providing that, this course assisted me in thinking through my strengths and weaknesses. To start
with, I find it very easy to deliver an idea now, and communicate with the readers through
writing. Looking back through my essays, I noticed that at the beginning of this course my voice
was not present. Now, however, I learned how to set forth an argument, stand for it, and present it
using logical facts, keeping in mind that my voice should be there. Additionally, my grammar and
vocabulary has improved, as a result, it enhanced my writing and helped keep the readers focused.
I also use lot of transitional words to link my ideas and allow the essay to flow smoothly and
coherently. As for my weaknesses, I noted that I keep drifting away from the main idea. This
makes it very hard for the reader to grasp the purpose quickly. In addition, I take ages to write an
essay, and this frustrates me sometimes thus, I start loosing interest and influence. Altogether, I
think learning never ends, therefore, I ll keep trying to overcome my weaknesses and add more
skills to my writing strengths list.
Conclusion
As a final point, the 102 writing course helped me improve my writing skills tremendously. Our
professor used two techniques in class to help us develop our essays which are Peer reviews and
rubrics. Peer reviews gave me an insight of what other people think of what I wrote, and their

The Death Penalty Is The Punishment Of Execution
The death penalty is the punishment of execution, administered to someone legally convicted of a
capital crime (law.cornell.edu, 2015). The first Congress of the United States authorized the federal
death penalty on June 25, 1790 (deathpenalty.org, 2011). The death penalty can also be referred to
as capital punishment, however capital punishment also includes a sentence to life in prison, as
opposed to strictly executions. A convict can be sentenced to death by various methods including
lethal injection, electrocution, gas chamber, firing squad, and hanging. After the death penalty was
established, many debates have arisen arguing that these methods violate several of the United
States Amendments. Select cases have been accused of violating the Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth
Amendments. It is important to note that the judiciary goes through a series of processes prior to
deciding a sentence for a capital crime. Many factors influencing the verdict include proportional
analysis, individualized sentencing, method of execution, and classes of people not eligible of the
death penalty. This paper will discuss brief descriptions of the methods used for executions,
economical issues, the Supreme Court s opinion regarding the death penalty, as well as important
factors that make up the proportional analysis, individual sentencing process, method used, and

Wheel Alignment Essay
Rotating your tires is a standard part of your car s preventative maintenance and typically should
be done every 6,000 to 8,000 miles. This helps your tires last longer by allowing them to wear
evenly. You may have found that when you take your car in for a tire rotation, the auto shop might
recommend you have a wheel alignment performed at the same time. But is this really necessary?
To provide some clarity on the issue, the professionals at Dee s Auto Care Specialists in La Crosse
and Onalaska, WI, and Winona, MN, answer some frequently asked questions about wheel
alignment.

What Happens During the Alignment?
All tire shops and most auto repair shops perform alignments. The process involves an alignment
machine, operating by a trained technician, which uses a computer to calculate precision
measurements. The technician makes adjustments to several suspension angles (caster, camber,
thrust, and toe) so they meet the vehicle manufacturer s specifications. The technician will also
check to make sure your steering wheel is centered. You should receive a printed report detailing
the wheel angles before and after the alignment, so you can see for yourself which adjustments
occurred.
When Is an Alignment Necessary?
If you ve noticed your call pulling to one side or the other while driving, excessive steering wheel
vibration, or uneven wear on your tires, it s probably time for an alignment. When getting new
tires, checking the alignment is recommended. In general, however, an alignment performed after
every tire rotation isn t necessary. Have your wheel alignment inspected at least once per year

Historiography Of The 1940s
The collapse of the military junta signified the decline of the traditional interpretative schemes and
frameworks for the 1940s that dominated the domestic historiography for over thirty years. This
traditional approach is encapsulated in the theory of the three rounds of the quasi deliberate
communist attempt to seize power by force of arms in 1943 1944, in December 1944 and in 1946
1949. The decade of the 1970s saw the emergence of a young generation of scholars who introduced
a revisionist school of thought and marked a paradigm shift in the academic discourse on the 1940s.
This generation, which continued to dominate the historiography of the 1940s until the end of the
cold war period, questioned many of the traditional interpretations

The Comparisons of Charles Manson to Transcendental...
The Comparisons of Charles Manson to Transcendental Philosophy Charles Manson and various
members of his family brutally killed several people from the Tate and LaBianca family on two
separate occasions . The purposes of these killings are misunderstood by today s society, when
ignoring Manson s philosophy. Although Manson never killed anyone, he went to prison in 1969
for masterminding the operation. Today s society has labeled Charles Manson as a mass murderer
who had no purpose through his cause. However, society overlooks the goal of Manson s plan,
which included creating a better society. Manson continues to preach his cause through repeated
parole attempts, behind the walls of a California prison where he resides... Show more content on

Therefore, Manson began to prepare for helter skelter by informing his family. Instead of waiting
for helter skelter, Manson wanted to prevent it by creating a utopian society that excluded the
African American race. Above and beyond individuality, Manson felt that four important things
needed preserved: air, water, trees, and animals. Mr. Manson commonly refers to these things as
AWTA, and claims that his family gave their lives to unite the brothers and sisters of the world with
these standards. The use of euphorics by Manson and his followers, provided an enhanced sense of
individuality in an environment interacting with nature. Manson commonly used music to get his
message out to other people, and generally, he would end a session with songs prophesizing helter
skelter orchestrated by his guitar. Today, many of Manson s songs have been released under the
Guns and Roses album name. This angers Manson and extends his argument that the rights of an
individual are no longer safe. In his 1986 Parole Hearing Statement, Manson talks about how his
family wanted to stop a war and turn the government and world to peace. He goes farther to say that
his masterplan included preserving ATWA, which would extend to enhance the individual. Both of
these ideals were important to the transcendentalists of the 19th century. The belief that the
individual, not the government was key to society, was important to the transcendental philosophy.

However much he may deplore his calling, it creates the impression that he was focused on

Essay about Handmaids Tale vs Persepolis
David Miller
Oppression on Women in Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale and Marjane Satrapi s Persepolis
Marjane Satrapi, in Persepolis writes about a memoir of a little girl growing in Iran. She refers to a
secular pre revolutionary time through contrast, the oppressive characteristics of the fundamentalist
government upon women in specifics. In comparison, her work is very similar to Margaret Atwood
s, A Handmaid s Tale, in which the central character, Offred, reflects upon her former life s
freedom, cherishing her former name and in doing so, emphasizes the isolated and enslaved live
that she must now endure. Although Both Margaret Atwood and Marjane Satrapi show how a

In Gilead everyone was supposed to dress alike depending on the social status they belonged to,
masking their individuality, which was highly discouraged. This actually stripped the girls of
their actual identities made them all look identical to their class. Similarly the veils impact on
women s life in Persepolis was enormous. She always wondered as to why did the women have
to wear it? and the reasoning the fundamentalist gave was so to protect women from all the
potential rapist, they decreed that wearing the veil was obligatory (74). Satrapi says because of
this backward thought process and the rules of the Islamic religion, women were forced to wear

Although the main characters from both the books live under restrictions especially in their
ways of dressing, both highly dislike what they are suppose to be wearing. The narrator in

gathered to a flat yoke that extends over the breasts, the sleeves are full. The white wings too are

alike. The narrator rejects her clothes, even though

Living In A Tipi Short Story
Living in a Tipi It was 1973. I was twenty one, living in Vancouver, and working as a nanny. I had
lived in Toronto for three years after graduating high school in Sudbury, Ontario. In my last
story, Going West and Coming Home, I described my previous adventures. Vancouver is a
fantastic city, but I think, at heart, I m more of a country gal. One day, my old friend Dik Budd
(from Toronto) called and invited me to visit him in Merville, on Vancouver Island. So, off I
went, on a ferry over to Naniamo. I could not believe the size of the ocean or Vancouver Island.
After what seemed to me a very long bus ride, we arrived in Courtenay. The bus depot was on the
main street, and I made my way to meet up with Dik and his friends at the Courtenay... Show more

Dik, who was small guy, had the perfect home. Like a hobbit house, it had a wood stove and was
warm and cozy. A lot of time was spent carrying water and splitting wood. We all played baseball
and drank homemade beer and wine. Everything tasted delicious. The gardens produced
wonderful vegetables and even small, sweet casaba melons. We all appreciated the fruits of our
labours. It was late summer, and there were huge blackberries, salmonberries, and huckleberries.
Dik fished for trout and salmon in river. During my visit, Dik s friend Vicky asked me if I d like
to take care of two little girls, Tara and West, while she worked. I could live with them in their
tipi. Well, why not? So, I went back to Vancouver, packed up, and returned to start my new life. I
knew then that I d be on Vancouver Island forever. Vicky s tipi was quite spacious. There was a
wooden floor on which sat two beds, two dressers, a toy box, and a shelf for books. Sleeping there
evoked ancient memories. We mostly cooked on fires outside. We all joined together around a
big fire at night and made music or told jokes. Tara, who was five, and West, who was three, were
adorable, blonde, blue eyed girls. They were easy to take care of. Vicky would get up early in the
morning and fetch water and wood to cook breakfast. Then, she would get ready for work at her
office job in Courtenay. She would put on a tidy skirt and jacket, nylons, and high heels and head

Operation Jump Start Case Study
In an attempt to control the influx of illegal immigrants that enter the country, the U.S. Customs
and Border Protection (CBP) and the National Guard (NG) were partnered to support Operation
Jump Start (OJS), an initiative that spanned the period of 2006 to 2008 to enhance border
enforcement along the southwest border (MOA, 2006, p. 1) of the United States. A memorandum of
agreement between the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas and the Department
of Defense (DOD) solidified OJS. During that two year period, the CBP would be responsible for
hiring and training additional members to improve border security, while the NG augmented the
CBP. (Straub, 2008). Thus, this operation was a short term resolution to accommodate a lapse...

Similar to the PCA of 1873, DOD Directive 5525.5 prohibits the following forms of assistance:
(1) interdiction of a vehicle, vessel, aircraft, or other similar activity; (2) a search or seizure; (3)
an arrest, apprehension, stop and frisk, or similar activity; and (4) use of military personnel in
the pursuit of individuals, or as undercover agents, informants, investigators, or interrogators
(Mason, 2013, p. 3). Thus, the National Guard devoted the majority of resources to manning
observation posts, flying alert aircraft, building roads, fences, and vehicle barricades, and
fulfilling administrative functions (i.e., desk duties) (Holstege, 2008). Other forms of regulation
include the regional rules for the use of force (RUF) included in the OJS memorandum of
agreement, which details the level of force authorized, arming orders, and weapon limitations
(MOA, 2006). A specification in JP 3 28 states National Guardsmen under Title 32 or state active
duty title will be issued a RUF card and briefed on the applicable state RUF prior to deployment
(Joint Chiefs of Staff, 2013, p. 47).

Fair Apportionment In The United States
Ever since the first democratic election of 1950, Turkish people have proven high interests in
elections. The lowest participation was in 1973 with 66.82 percent and highest participation in
1987 with 93.38 percent (IDEA). Despite the high voter turnout rate, their votes have not been
represented equally. The apportionment method used have not been fair. Apportionment deals
straight with the amount of political power granted to citizens living in different areas. A fair
apportionment method would grant each citizen equal amount of political power despite their
locations. It is however, difficult to apportion in accordance with the principle of equal vote value.
The apportionment problem arises due to the rounding problem. In formal statement, apportionment
problem involves a group of states with some populations (p1, p2, ..., p3), and a whole number of a
seats to distribute. Apportionment distributes a whole number of seats to each state where the sum
of the distributions equal to the total number of seats (Young 2004). It is expected that each state

It used conventional rounding instead of rounding down. Webster s method does not violate any of
the apportionment paradoxes, yet it can rarely violate quota criterion. In 1941, Huntington Hill
method was adopted and is still being used today. The Huntington Hill method is almost identical to
Webster s method (Hodge Klima). Unlike Webster s method, Huntington Hill method uses
geometric mean as cutoff for rounding quotas. If the quota is greater than the geometric mean of
the two nearest whole numbers, round the quota up, otherwise round it down. If the total number
of seats allocated is too large or small, increase or decrease the divisor to apportion the exact
number of seats. For a quota like 5.482, Huntington Hill method would take the geometric mean
(sqrt(5*6)=5.477) and round it up to 6 because the quota is greater than the geometric

  • 2. Grandma Kuhn Definition Of A Mentor Definition of mentor; An experienced and trusted advisor. We as catholics have some of the strongest faith in our Lord, but who do we have as mentors? We all have different people we see as mentors. Whether in sports, education, life, and in this case faith. For my faith mentor I look up to my grandma Kuhn. I see her as the exact definition of mentor. The family she has raised and started is very big with many, many grandkids and great grandkids. She and my grandpa are the roots to the very large Kuhn family. She has been through hard times and good. Through all she has kept her faith. This is why I chose her. Through thick and thin she has remained a devoted catholic and always kept true to her ways. My grandma has always showed faith by her actions. She has helped our church up until a couple years ago when she finally showed her age at 96. She has made kettle corn at the Oconee Fall Festival for years and years. For many years grandma would take truck loads of donations to the appalachian mountains. Clothes, toys, supplies, whatever she and my grandpa could round up they made the trek to the appalachians to help the people up there out. When my grandma was able she went to every mass she could. Always in the same seat too. Before mass she would say the rosary and most likely be ahead a decat. Everyone at her church knows her and how amazing her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Chief is an Indian, who is strong and tall. He physically is one of the strongest characters. The Chief manipulated the system, in order to stay under the radar. He pretended to be deaf and dumb. This gave the Chief a heightened advantage over the other wards. Faculty spoke freely infant of the Chief because they thought he could not share the information. Kesey demonstrated the staff did not find Chief Bromden a threat early in the novel, They don t bother not talking out loud about their hate secrets...they think I m deaf and dumb. The orderlies were Nurse Ratched s foot soldiers, they carried out her orders of abuse against the men. The Chief, believed the orderlies were so instinctively connected to Nurse Ratched that they could predict Nurse Ratched s moves before she gave them the command. They enjoyed the power and control they could manifest working for the hospital. The orderlies are described as young black men. They raped, physically assaulted and humiliated the men. A proven example of their abuse was when they raped one of the wards, He s smothering curse into the mattress and the black boy sitting on his head saying Tha s right, Mistuh Taber, tha s right... ( Kesey 36) The orderlies used their power to humiliate the men. They enjoyed the abuse they inflected on the men. After the fishing trip, Nurse Ratched had the orderlies scrub the mens genitals. One patient, George feared dirt therefore did not believe he needed a scrubbing, he also feared soap thus exacerbating his fear of the scrubbing. The orderlies of course found extreme privilege in forcing George, But the black boy just ran the tube up against George s belly buton and squeezed...George wrapped both arms around his belly and screamed. • 4. The Adverse Effects of TV Essay examples Years ago, society was full of hard working, fit, energetic people who diligently worked to improve civilization. But then, society became infected by television. The virus slowly spread from person to person and began to take over the lives of everyone it encountered. Over the course of eight decades, the virus came to dictate every day activities and transformed a spirited species into languid losers. Television has ultimately turned society into a vegetable garden that is controlled by technological innovations that manipulate the order of our everyday lives. Those who recognize the harm caused by technologydeclare that television is slowly replacing the education and determination of mankind. With innovations such as Google and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Opponents of the advantages of television recognize that television, along with other technology, is threatening the safety of American society as it advances more and more. These so called improvements manipulate mankind into relying on technology for nearly everything, further weakening the willpower of the human race to challenge this mistreatment. A theory formulated by Raymond Kurzweil states that America is approaching a moment approximately 2045 where computers will exceed the intelligence of the human brain. When that happens, artificial intelligence will exist with mankind it may even have the ability to reproduce itself. The theory is easily believed when people recognize the fact that computers and other forms of technology are getting faster at an increasing rate. People rely on computers for work ethic, television for entertainment, and internet for social relationships. If man does not change its habits and work to inhibit their reliance on technology, the reality of 2045 is imminent. The human species will evolve into a form that is not even comparable to the present condition of mankind we will soon be a society driven by laziness and stupidity. Technological advancements must be put under control before America reaches an age where artificial intelligence outweighs human life. Television, computers, and other technological innovation may seem beneficial right now, but if they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Christian Life And The Teachings Of The Bible I have been participating in the Korean language class on Monday and Wednesday from August 10 to now. Last Sunday, I participated in the 1st annual golden harvest 5k marathon. First, I d like to discuss the spiritual concepts/values from text that relate to personal beliefs. I am a Christian since birth. So all I d like to talk about is Christian life and the teachings of the bible. Throughout my whole life, I have learned about spiritual things and what kind of spiritual things are in my ego. The spiritual values that I always have is love, hope, and trust. Love is an element that Christians value and have in their Christian mindand the bible says to love each other. I am doing my best to understand this word throughout my whole life and it is the reason why I chose my major Nursing. The dictionary meaning of love is an intense feeling of deep affection or feel a deep romantic or sexual attachment to someone. The bible states that Christian love is selfless and a giving love. I realized something when I went to Africa for doing some volunteer work. I felt what it meant to be selfless and what it was to give love through volunteering and now I keep this in mind through my life too. The second value is hope. All of religion is based on hope, just like forgiveness, and going to heaven and waiting for God to give them something that they want. But in the bible it says, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of JesusChrist (Peter ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hero s strive to find the best in people and not just in them. Men such as Siddhartha, Moses and the Great Odysseus each show their special qualities of heroes, and all were of admirable accomplishments. Odysseus shows and displays his courage and fearlessness to us even when all the odds are against him. With all of that he still was able to beat the odds and return home and save his family from the horrible suitors, taking over his home. We come to understand Odysseus through his trial and tribulations, we see him as a great man, a man who is a great conqueror and from this we begin to see him as a hero. So what kind of hero Is Odysseus? We are shown that in some ways he is almost a tragic hero, this is because always is just an inch away from reaching the goal of getting home and then something happens so he is pulled far away again. Odysseus is put through so much for such a long period of time yet he still manages to overcome it and become a great hero. Searching for knowledge we meet Siddhartha, a man who gives up everything for his goal of finding nirvana and himself. The only thing Siddhartha uses to reach his goal are his senses. All he wants to be is himself, but his sense is being covered by his knowledge. It is during this time Siddhartha finally realizes that he doesn t know his quot;self quot; and now see that he has avoided finding it his whole life. We are shown that part of the journey he goes through is realizing that even though he has great knowledge, it isn t enough without the experience. • 7. Student Athletes Are Deserving Of Economic Remuneration The seven most popular sports (in order) in the United States are: NFL, MLB, NCAAF, auto racing, NBA, NHL, and NCAAM (Rovell, 2014). Five of the sports included are professional where the athletes are paid. However, two of them NCAAF and NCAAM are amateur sports headed by student athletes who are not paid. When these college sports are on par with professional organizations that are worth billions of dollars, then the amateurism behind the NCAAF and NCAAM is questioned. In fact, the NCAA generates almost a billion dollars annually. Since the athletes in question are amateurstudent athletes, paying them might damage the integrity of the sports. Therefore, there is an ongoing contested debate over whether student athletes are deserving of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, amateurism is an illusion because the NCAA insatiably embrace[s] commercialism in all facets of intercollegiate athletics except on a single issue athlete compensation (Zola, 2013). The 1980s is where NCAAM and NCAAF exploded as businesses. The Supreme Court, in 1984, struck down the NCAA s restrictions on television appearances. This coincided with the government deregulation of cable television and, ultimately, led to massive television contracts and sports stations covering NCAAM and NCAAF. As the athletic departments of universities expanded profoundly, they continued to reiterate the student in student athletes. By doing so, they built the boundary up as an effective defense from allowing college athletes to get a cut of the newfound income. In 1988, the NCAA became an effective private institution when the Supreme Court ruled against Jerry Tarkanian and allowed the NCAA to dismiss due process during their investigations. Amateurism, in the sake of college football and men s basketball, is a falsehood and a boundary created by the NCAA and enforced by college coaches and athletic departments. The meaning behind the category of student athletes was empowered by the NCAA in the 1950s to fend off lawsuits and implement the sanctity of college sports as amateur sports. The NCAA s moral authority lies in the term student athlete and is meant to conjure the nobility of amateurism, and the precedence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparing Emile Durkheim s The Division Of Labor In comparing Emile Durkheim s The Division of Labor in Society and readings from the The Rules of Sociological Method to Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann s The Social Construction of Reality in addition to Harriet Martineaus Morals and Manners, Morals of Slavery, and The Political Nonexistence of Women, all of these authors investigate people as beings that are fundamentally social that create the basis for society. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This author has had a particular focus on women in politics and how slaves were included in this social structure during this time period making an effort to convey that all men are born equal and free as her views were very radical during this time. In comparison to Martineau, Emile Durkheim emphasizes that the division of labor is a key attribute to the social structure of society as the general population continues to grow, people will naturally become more disciplined in specialized professions that will ultimately create institutions as all of these specializations will work together to benefit society. However, Durkheim does agree with Martineau to the extent that power is diffused throughout society and ultimately belongs to the government. As government holds the ultimate authority, punishment will be defined as a reaction as to what has violated laws that have been instituted in order to maintain standards of moral order. Additionally, Berger and Luckmann make it clear that it is because people are social beings, people create a society the more we interact with one another as [man s] relationship to the surrounding environment is everywhere...structured by his own biological constitution that people attach what they know to be the physical world and build structural concepts that constitute our society. • 18. The Mental Destruction of Blanche Dubois Essay Tennessee William s play A Street Car Named Desire offers a glimpse into the harsh reality faced by single southern woman in the 1940s. The 1940s was a time when females were viewed as delicate and fragile; therefore, it was understood that a male companion was a necessity to keep them safe and secure (Cook 84). The character of Blanche Duboisembodies the 1940s distressed female as she struggles with her environment. She is battling guilt, loneliness and financial insecurity when she arrives in Elysian Fields. Critics and audiences alike have mixed reactions to Blanche and her role as the tragic protagonist. She feels as though all of her needs and wants have been answered, giving her hope for a secure future. Blanche needs Mitch as a stabilizing force in her life; if her relationship with him fails, she knows she faces a world that offers few prospects for a financially challenged, unmarried woman approaching middle age. She tacitly admits to Mitch that she needs him when she accepts his embrace, but her fears of acknowledging her past and current situation overpower her and prevent her from telling the full truth. She hides her past not only from Mitch, but also from herself because to acknowledge it is to also admit the unhealthy choices she has made. When Stanley tells Mitch about Blanche s blemished past Mitch recognizes that Blanche s deceptions have relied on a symbolic and literal darkness which obscures reality. When Mitch asks Blanche to be honest about herself she says, I don t want realism. I want Magic! I don t tell truth, I tell what ought to be the truth (145). In these lines Blanche clearly expresses her desire not to deal with reality; this inability to face her circumstances signifies that Blanche is not recovering from her mental stress, but rather descending further into it. • 20. Biological Determinism And Why Sociologist Have Mounted... This assignment is going to look at the concept of biological determinism and why sociologist have mounted such a powerful attack. Due to time constraints and word count, this essay will focus on gender and race with reference to biological determinism. The term biological determinism it is a theory that looks into a person s behaviour and also their genetic makeup, it does not take into account any other social factors which surrounds the environment. It argues the fact that the biological factors i.e., genes and genetics are based on the way an individual behaves over time. Psychologist Charles Darwin, Mendel believed our bodies changed to handle the environment . Helen Cronin (2007) states that as human beings we have evolved but we still have this legacy today the world has changed but our minds have not. Darwin uses this theory as natural selection he thought that both men and women minds are predetermined to do different things in society i.e. women have children and men go out hunting. By this he is referring to the nature side (genetics) of nature versus nurture (environment) argument. On the other hand sociologist argued that it is due to our environment how we as human beings behave. They looked at the culture, upbringing, social patterns and relationship to pan out the way individuals behave in society. Matt Ridley wrote a article on the Genetics The Genes of blame where he states that there are genes in our bodies that are diseased. He believes that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 21. Functionalism And Robert Merton s Model Of Functionalism Sociology uses three different perspectives, or theories, when looking at human issues. These three theories are known as functionalism, conflict theory, and symbolic interaction. Functionalism is considered a macro theory and has two different models. The focus will be on Merton s model of functionalism, which has three parts to it. Conflict theoryis also, a macro theory that views society as a place of inequality between two groups. It looks at five inequalities, which are economic, gender, racial, age, and sexual orientation inequalities. The last theory is symbolic interaction and it is the only micro theory. It is a way to analyze how people s behavior define themselves and the people they interact with. Abortion is the issue that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A dysfunction of abortion could be that overuse of the procedure could contribute to a declining population. Another dysfunction is that the procedure could be used to favor one gender over the other and cause one gender to be more populated than the other in certain areas of the world. If abortion is inaccessible, then it could cause women to lose their life, or cause health issues, when they try to get an unsafe abortion. Those are all three parts of Merton s model of functionalism. Now the next theory to apply to the issue of abortion is conflict theory. Conflict theory is the idea that social behavior can be understood by looking at the conflicts between groups of those that benefit and the ones who don t. It views society as a place of inequality. This theory looks at economic, gender, racial, age, and sexual orientation inequalities. First is a look at the economic inequalities between the high income and low income women who consider, or get, an abortion. Statistics show that low income women are more likely to get an abortion, which could be due to contraceptives being difficult to access. Low income women may not have the best sex education due to poor education opportunities, resulting in higher unwanted pregnancies. High income women will be able to get the best health care providers to get an abortion. Next is gender inequality between men and women. • 22. When It Comes To The Fourth Amendment And Searching A... When it comes to the Fourth Amendment and searching a person s car or their person, there are a few factors to take into consideration. In order for an officer to search an individual s car, they must have consent, otherwise the search is unreasonable and whatever evidence seized could be inadmissible in the court of law. However, it is possible to conduct a search without consent and seize evidence without a warrant but there ought to be probable causeor reasonable suspicion. The two differ in the sense that reasonable suspicion is based off past experiences and expertise. Probable cause is needed for a search to take place; conversely if there is no probable cause but an officer has enough reasonable suspicion, they still are allowed to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, in Minnesota v. Dickerson (1993), if an officer can readily identify an object from a pat down, they can use their discretion and experience and retrieve it if they know it to be true. If they are unsure and take it, whatever was seized is inadmissible in court. In legal terms, this is known as the plain feel doctrine. This allows a police officer to seize objects during a legitimate pat down search if by plain feel he reasonably believes it to be contraband. Just because the plain feel doctrine has been established does not granted officers the right to touch, it simply permits an officer to interpret tactile sensations to identify an object during a pat down (Poulin, 1997 pg. 23). There is a strong correlation between the Fourth Amendment and racial profiling. I asked a police officer what they believed was the main reason for a lawsuit against an officer and they said violations in regards to the Fourth Amendment followed by failure to act. Take the United States v. Brignoni Ponce case for instance. A police officer pulled over a drive that looked to be Mexican because he believed them to be an illegal immigrant. The problem was that officers were roving the border and stopping individuals for no reason other than to see if they were illegal immigrants. 3) Collect data collection rigorously by geography. Research must combat methodological and response rate challenges that affected past data collection efforts based on the specific area. God told the Israelites that the reason they had to work six days and rest on the seventh day, is because He created everything and rested on the seventh day. It is thus not realistic to think we have to work for six long periods (millions of years) and rest for another long period. The Bible also states that Jesus woke up three days after his crucifixion, which could not mean millions of years. The businesses find customer volume falls off after the deals are done and they are not much better off than before they offered the coupon. Business owners have no incentive to list deals through Groupon. In fact, it would end up hurting the business by doing so. So why would a business owner renew a deal on Groupon? Chitosan and simple aldehydes produce N alkyl chitosan upon hydrogenation. The presence of the more or less bulky substituents weakens the hydrogen bonds of the chitosan. Therefore, N alkyl chitosan swell in water inspite of the hydrophobicity of alkyl chains. The N alkyl chitosan retain the film forming property of chitosan 27. If they re out of alignment by even a small degree, your tires may not perform as well as they should. What Happens During the Alignment? All tire shops and most auto repair shops perform alignments. The process involves an alignment machine, operating by a trained technician, which uses a computer to calculate precision measurements. The technician makes adjustments to several suspension angles (caster, camber, thrust, and toe) so they meet the vehicle manufacturer s specifications. The technician will also check to make sure your steering wheel is centered. You should receive a printed report detailing the wheel angles before and after the alignment, so you can see for yourself which adjustments occurred. When Is an Alignment Necessary? If you ve noticed your call pulling to one side or the other while driving, excessive steering wheel vibration, or uneven wear on your tires, it s probably time for an alignment. When getting new tires, checking the alignment is recommended. In general, however, an alignment performed after every tire rotation isn t necessary. Therefore, Manson began to prepare for helter skelter by informing his family. Instead of waiting for helter skelter, Manson wanted to prevent it by creating a utopian society that excluded the African American race. Above and beyond individuality, Manson felt that four important things needed preserved: air, water, trees, and animals. Mr. Manson commonly refers to these things as AWTA, and claims that his family gave their lives to unite the brothers and sisters of the world with these standards. The use of euphorics by Manson and his followers, provided an enhanced sense of individuality in an environment interacting with nature. Manson commonly used music to get his message out to other people, and generally, he would end a session with songs prophesizing helter skelter orchestrated by his guitar. Today, many of Manson s songs have been released under the Guns and Roses album name. This angers Manson and extends his argument that the rights of an individual are no longer safe. In his 1986 Parole Hearing Statement, Manson talks about how his family wanted to stop a war and turn the government and world to peace. He goes farther to say that his masterplan included preserving ATWA, which would extend to enhance the individual. Both of these ideals were important to the transcendentalists of the 19th century. I had lived in Toronto for three years after graduating high school in Sudbury, Ontario. In my last story, Going West and Coming Home, I described my previous adventures. A fair apportionment method would grant each citizen equal amount of political power despite their locations. It is however, difficult to apportion in accordance with the principle of equal vote value. The apportionment problem arises due to the rounding problem. In formal statement, apportionment problem involves a group of states with some populations (p1, p2, ..., p3), and a whole number of a seats to distribute.
