Essay about Background and Character of T.J. Avery
Background and Character of T.J. Avery Ladies and gentlemen of the court, I have been charged
with investigating, and bringing to the attention of the court the entire background and character
of T.J. Avery from an impartial point of view. These are my findings. T.J. Avery comes from a
sharecropping family which live and work on Mr. Gangers land; they are poor and lack financial
independence. T.J. s father is a weak old man and in consequence lacks the physical strength to
punish him, for anything he does wrong. T.J. has almost no principles, so he has no problem with
getting others in trouble when he was the one who was the cause... Show more content on

had written some cheat notes, and when the teacher who happened to be Misses Logan, he gave
them to Stacey Logan who is his friend, but before Stacey could hand them back, his mother saw
that and interrogated him about it and then proceeded to punish him in front of the entire class.
Prior to this T.J. had been caught rummaging threw Misses Logan s books at her desk looking
for the test, after sneaking into her room, while visiting the Logan household as a friend of the
Logan children. T.J. is befriended by R.W. and Melvin Simms, who buy him alcohol at The
Wallace Store. T.J. is proud of this friend ship with the two white boys, but T.J. is disgusted that
Grand Mother Logan wanted to see Mr Wade W. Jamison, who is an attorney at Law. This is
while he was visiting the town of Strawberry with Grand Mother Logan and the Logan children.
Also while in strawberry Stacey Logan is foolishly persuaded by T.J. to go into the white mans
store, which is other wise know as The Barnett Mercantile, while in the mercantile T.J. is
mesmerised by the peal handled pistol. Later that month Stacey Logan is given I new coat form
his Uncle, Hammer Logan, T.J. mocks him and his coat, saying that he looked like a fat preacher
because the coat was a bit big on him at the time, later T.J. cons Stacy into lending him the coat until

Louisiana Purchase Dbq
Louisiana Purchase Seminar Write Up The Louisiana Purchase today, is considered one of the
greatest things an acting president has ever done. However, when Jefferson did buy the
territory, it was viewed by many of his fellow Republicans as Federalistic, and an act of viewing
the Constitution very loosely. Many claimed that he was abandoning his political principles,
which he had fought for so strongly in the past. However, amid all the claims of his betrayal of
his political principles by buying the territory without consulting congress, it is clear that he didn t
abandon them, because he did it for an agrarian expansion, and because he believed that it was best
for Americans. Both of these reasons are two of the main ideals of the Republican... Show more

This was for several reasons, primarily being the hypocrisy of using the necessary and proper
clause after having attacked Hamilton relentlessly for having used the same clause to set up a
National Bank. It is obvious just how much hypocrisy was taking place when we see Jefferson
comments regarding the National Bank, in which he said, To take a single step beyond the
boundaries specially drawn around powers of Congress is to take possession of a boundless
field of power, no longer susceptible of any decision. By using the necessary and proper clause,
Jefferson managed to avoid having to go through Congress to get approval, and also managed to
avoid the state governments, just as Hamilton did. This was the exact opposite of what a typical
Republican would do, as they believed that the states should have much more power than the
federal government. Given that he appears to go against many of the Republican main ideals, he
was considered by several as a neo Federalist. However, even amongst all of this, it is still clear that
he didn t throw away his political ideals as many said he did, which can be seen in the ways that he
did all of this to help the people who he was

The Concept Of Capacity And Capacity Utilization
1.2 The concept of capacity and capacity utilization
Capacity is very important but least understood concept in manufacturing and business world
(Klammer,1996). Different categories of people in business and manufacturing measure capacity
differently. For example, some financial managers might measure plant capacity in terms of the
equipment installed in the plant while operational supervisors might measure capacity in terms of
worker efficiency. Klein Summers ,(1996) defined an organization s productive capacity as the total
level of output or production that it could produce in a given time period . Capacity utilization is the
percentage of the firm s total possible production capacity that is being used. Therefore, an
organization should be most efficient if it is running at 100% capacity utilization. An organization s
full capacity is the minimum point on total cost function, a full input point on the aggregate
production function and a bottleneck point in a general equilibrium system. Full capacity should be
defined as a realizable level of output that can be attained under normal input conditions without
prolonging accepted working ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the existence of excess capacity is often cited as evidence indicating the presence of
monopolistic elements within individual industries. The notion of Capacity utilization is also
widely used in business cycle analysis to characterize the situation of individual industries or whole
economies and to assess the appropriateness of economic policy. It also plays an important role in
econometric models in estimation of the relative significance of the determinants in investment,
imports etc. The concept of capacity relates to output. It is therefore different from concepts
referring to a single factor of production such as the degree of utilization of

The Pros And Cons Of Indentured Servants
When Europeans first came to the New World they were stunned to see how cheap land was and
how expensive labor was. Many of these settlers relied on Indentured servants and Indians as
cheap labor but this came with many disadvantages. Indentured servants carried too high a price
for farmers who raised crops for subsistence. ( The American Journey Ch. 3, Pg.78) Another
disadvantage to using indentures servants was that they only worked long enough to repay the
debt they had. Using Indians also came with an array of problems. One of the most blaring
problems was the death rate. Many Native Americans died from diseases that the settlers brought
with them and some of them died from being overworked with made the death rate sky rocket. Men

John Steinbeck s East of Eden
Biblical Symbolism in East of Eden
Throughout the novel East of Eden, Steinbeck uses many biblical references to illustrate clearly
the conflict between the opposing forces of good and evil. Much of the plot of East of Eden is
centered upon the two sets of brothers representing Cain and Abel. Both pairs are similar to Cain
and Abel in the way they go about winning their fathers favors. All four give gifts to their fathers,
and the fathers dismiss the gifts of Charles and Caleb, the Cain representations (Marks, Jay Lester.
p.121). Caleb and Charles Trask are obviously the more malignant brothers. They are also the more
loving towards their father. Steinbeck s purpose in this is to illustrate the need of the Cain character

Cathy Kate combines many biblical figures as well. She is not only Eve, but she is Cain s wife
and the serpent of Eden as well (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). Thus she is the representation of evil
too. Cathy is evil to the point where she is not human. Her presence in the novel is meant to
represent evil and all of its cruel intentions. All of her deeds are intended to show how far from the
real world Cathy actually is (Howard, Levant. p. 245). Steinbeck compares Cathy to other
prostitutes in Salinas Valley, the setting of Eastof Eden. She is described as the only whore who is
incapable of being a good person. She is an inhuman being whose life revolves around cruelty and
wrongdoing. She is solely satanic and destroys the innocence of man (Marks, Jay Lester. p. 126
127).
John Steinbeck includes more of the tale of Genesis: 4 than is actually told in the bible. The
basis of this is a Jewish story involving twin sisters of both Cain and Abel. The two disputed over
Abel s twin whom Abel was to marry. Cain murdered Abel and wed the twin sister of his brother
(Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). The story differs also in that it is Abel who leaves his home instead
of Cain. Abel found his Eden, represented by Salinas Valley, but lost it after fathering a second
generation very similar to the first, Caleb representing Cain and Aron representing Abel (Fonterose,
Joseph. p.3379). The story is changed by Steinbeck to illustrate

The Symbols Of Lucille Desiree Ball
What is an American icon? According to Webster s Dictionary, it is a person or thing that is
idolized. It is someone who, by mention of their name, will remind people of who they are and
what they are famous for. Synonyms include representation and symbol. When you hear the name
Lucille Ballor I Love Lucyyou probably think of a skittish red head who had eccentric expressions
and made America laugh. Lucille Desiree Ball was, and still is, an American icon because of
what she represented in all four of her shows, how she changed the television and movie
industry, and her fashion sense which created a well known look for herself. Lucille Ball was
born on August 6, 1911, in Jamestown, New York, to Henry and Desiree Ball. She also had a
younger brother, Fred, who was born four years later in 1915. While Lucille s mother was still
pregnant with Fred, her father was struck with typhoid fever and passed away. After her father
passed away, her mother eventually remarried to Ed Peterson. Ed, not being a fan of children,
decided that he and Desiree would move to Detroit without Lucille s kids. Fred moved in with
Desiree s parents, and Lucille moved in with Ed s parents. Lucille recalled her new family being
very poor and strict, saying that they didn t even have enough money for school pencils. Ed s
mother taught her needlework, which is how she ended up loving to crochet for the rest of her life.
When Lucille was 11 years old, she reunited with her mom and Ed. At

Charity Royall In Edith Wharton s Summer
In Edith Wharton s book Summer the main character Charity Royall is the daughter of the most
influential man in town and yet she doesn t want anything more than to escape from her small
town of North Dormer and her lonely father figure that inhabits it. Mr. Royall took her down
from the Mountain when she was a child and has raised her as his own since she was young, but
after the death of his wife he has resorted to drinking to heal his loneliness, and later in his
weakened state turns to Charity to cure his loneliness. Though his first proposal could be seen
as disgusting and incest in that he tries to enter Charity s room while he is drunk, when he later
asks her to marry him for the third time, he is clear headed and believes this is the best option for
Charity. At first Charity is disgusted by herself for giving in to Mr. Royall s advances, after a
silent agreement between her and Mr. Royall in which she realizes he has no intention of making
her do anything she doesn t want to do, she realizes that this is the best outcome for her and accepts
her fate.
Even though the marriage between Mr. Royall and Charity Royall could be considered incest, the
two were not biologically related and therefore the marriage was lawfully alright. Mr. Royall had
raised Charity as his daughter for his whole life and though they weren t particularly close, he had
provided for Charity by giving her a house to stay in and complying to most of her wishes; getting
her a job at the library

Restart
Methadone patients are a restart after missing 3 doses.
Suboxone patients are a restart after missing 5 doses.
Take Home Dose Agreement (Carry Paper)
For this form patients will need to read it over and understand that they only get one lock box for
free. If they lose it they will have to pay for the next one ($10.00). A lock box is for the patients
carries, and comes with 2 keys for each side of the box. Don t lose it and take care of it.
New Patient (Initial Patient Assessment Form)
Always ask the doctors if they want a new patient before creating a new patient file. If there is no
health card number for the patient but the doctor will still see him/her do not print a label and
instead just write the name by hand and leave everything else blank. (Make sure to explain to the
patient how sampling works.) Always scan in all ID a patient provides.
If A Patient Is In Jail (Jail Paper)
Call the pharmacy and confirm the patient s last dose. Fill in the last dose on the page that has
been faxed over once the dose amount has been confirmed. We can t restart a patient while in jail
because they have access to an in house doctor. On weekends we are able to send a script only if
the doctor has given us permission and a signed script. (If a patient is only doing weekends make a
note in the patients chart and talk to the doctor.) Other than that there is nothing I can do.

Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep Character Analysis
Diminishing Difference Between Humans and Androids Throughout Do Androids Dream of
Electric Sheep, author Philip K. Dick explored the effect empathy had on the characters. In the
novel, bounty hunters Voigt Kampff Test measured empathy, and if a person was found to fail
the test, that person was considered to be an android (Dick 44). As a result of this method, the
humans had ironically become the less empathetic, which resulted in androids becoming closer
to human by default. Dick explored the declining empathy of humans by looking at what they
have resorted to in order to identify androids. The Voigt Kampff Test was a vital tool to the
bounty hunters tasked with finding and retiring illegal androids (57); however, the test itself
was calculating and cold, only able to deliver a yes or no, fail or pass, 0 or 1 (46). The Voigt
Kampff Test, humans only anchor point in a world where anyone could be an android, was just as
devoid of empathy as humans see androids (40).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Lupe Fiasco’s Modern Voice Essay
History has constantly brought upon leaders and individuals who stands up against the corrupt
society he and many others face. Those leaders express their profound thoughts for both him and
the many others that are too afraid to speak out. One of the most notorious writers in American
history and is known for his transcendental ideals. However, today s society lacks individuals who
parallels with Whitman. Lupe Fiascorepresents the Modern American voice speaking out against
the degrading world society and does so by influencing the public through their appeal of music.

In the song, Fiasco portrays the manipulation that many are often affected by. He suggests that
others should, like him, ignore what others think and act purely on what you believe. Fiasco uses
the analogy of slaves to describe the similar effects of losing one s individuality. The experiences
one would face if he/she succumbs into the negative influences of others would be similar to that
of African American slaves. Because of human nature, jealousy exists amongst every individual
and by allowing others to control aspects of your life, he/she will be able harm those dependent
variables of one s life. Similarly, Whitman states that one should freely ...give alms to everyone that
asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue
not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing
known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons
and with the young and with the mothers of families... (Leaves of Summer, Preface) Whitman
again describes the idea of individualism. People fear of the higher power and often let that fear
consume them, eventually eliminating the individual s ability to act freely. He implies that people
should ignore those circumstances and without

Examine the Framework of the Four Noble Truths
Examine the framework of the Four Noble Truths
Sean Reece Grange
The Four Noble Truths are much like a doctor s prescription; they are Buddha s prescription for
suffering. In the first two truths he diagnoses the problem of suffering, and identifies its cause. The
third truth is the discovery of a cure, and the fourth noble truth is the prescription as the Buddha
sets out the Eightfold path to achieve a release from suffering. Suffering is a serious illness to
Buddhist s because it keeps us in Samsara, the cycle of birth, death and rebirth and prevents us from
attaining enlightenment. The first step in the Buddha s medical process is to diagnose the problem,
and this means identifying Dukkha. The first noble truth is the truth of ... Show more content on

Desire is caused by our ignorance of reality, and is fuelled by our ambition to become, meaning to
have life hopes and dreams, such as to be wealthy. This causes us to grasp onto the things we are
afraid to lose in our lives lest we fall short of our goal because of it. It is this that keeps us rooted in
the cycle of Samsara.
There are three forms of desire (Tanha) and they show us the different ways we cause our own
suffering. Kama Tanha, meaning sensual pleasures, shows the desire to have any form of
pleasure that stimulates our senses. Bhava Tanha is the desire to become we all have life dreams
and hopes, and these ambitions cause us to desire our goals, and finally, Vibhava Tanha is the
desire to get rid of. We say things like I want to get rid of my anger rather than accepting it, and
life, as the way it is. The only reality worth contemplating is Anicca, because of change.
The third noble truth, the cure, is Nirodha

In the novel 1984 and the film V for Vendetta , the protagonist for both stories are captured while
performing various acts of rebellion against the totalitarian government, of which is controlling
their city. In punishment, the government tortures them with harsh, inhumane methods that are
similar to those used in dictatorships during the 1900s like the USSR under Stalin s rule.
However, both protagonists are tortured by different sides, and by people from completely
opposite ends of the political ladder: one a government agent, the other a rebel. Although the

In V for Vendetta , the purpose of Evey s torture was quite simple. V was doing what Evey asked
of him: To become fearless against the government. Evey was kidnapped by V after Gordon was
killed by government agents for conspiracies against Norsefire (the government), and then placed
in a false government facility where Evey believed that she had been taken hostage by the secret
agents. But she was in fact under V s supervision and being tortured and interrogated by V, whom
had no intention of killing her from the beginning. The amount of control and restraints that V put
on this project displays a theme of control. He is controlling how Evey s personality, thinking,
and memories should be by forcing her to believe in a false reality. She believes that she is
interrogated only to disclose V s location, but she endures the harsh interrogations while gaining
hatred for the government and fearlessness. These facts demonstrate the theme of alienation,
because V made Evey just like him: Fearless against the government. This identity was not who
Evey was before, and through torture, pain and brainwashing he had taken away her identity, and
replaced it with what he thought was best for the future, and what would be beneficial to him as
an ally. In some aspects, readers may misjudge the two examples of torture above, coming to the
conclusion that one was justified, because it was for the good of

Americans With Disability Act Essay
Introduction
The history of the Americans with Disabilities Act began long before it was originally
introduced to Congress in 1988. (Mayerson, 1992). There isn t one person responsible for the
ADA but rather thousands of Americans who have fought for the rights of people with
disabilities and constantly worked to make their lives easier. People with disabilities for a long
time were thought of as outsiders in society and were shunned by the majority. It wasn t until the
1900 s when organizations by and for people with disabilities exploded in popularity and began to
get attention and make real positives changes for people struggling with disabilities (Meldon). A

and Defense Fund participated presenting arguments in favor of a broad interpretation of the
definition of disability presented by the ADA, the high court ruled resulting in a significantly
limited interpretation of the federal definition of disability. This was the first ruling that eventually
lead to the ADA Amendments Act of 2008 which was passed in response to the number of
decisions by the Supreme Court that had interpreted the original text of the ADA (Brief History of
Civil Rights, 2017). The ADAAA was signed into law in September of 2008 by President George

protection from discrimination (Timeline of the ADA). One of the things that the ADAAA required

Holt s Case Study
2. How does the class s average TRC for each gender compare with Holt s (1952) data? The average
number of TRC for males in my class is around 129, for female it is 102. For Holt s data the
average for males is around 200 and for females is slightly under 200. It s a difference in
numbers, but in every other detail it is fairly similar. 3. How does your personal TRC compare
with the class average and Holt s (1952) data? The data are similar in the way they are set up.
However, Holt separated the females and males, Holt also determined exactly which finger was
being counted and Holt is very much specific in the data collected. 4. Why are the classroom

In what ways does Mendelian genetics differ from polygenic inheritance? Mendelian genetics
differs from polygenic inheritance because one trait is controlled by one gene in specific. There
is also a dominant and a recessive. In polygenic inheritance one trait may be controlled by two or
more genes. 6. In what ways are the two models of inheritance the same? The many genes that
are controlling a polygenic trait are all inherited by Mendelian genetics. While the genes
individually contain Mendelian inheritance, the trait itself does not because a vast amount of
genes are involved in making it specific. 7. Unfortunately, the П‡2 test is mathematically
unsuitable for use with averages. What statistical test could we use to determine if our average

West Side Story Analysis
West Side Story is one of the most famous musicals in Broadway history. It is a re telling and
more modern remake of Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet. The same love story is there, just a
more modern take on it. The slight modern message on inequality because of skin color is what
makes it so modern. It has been revived many times and mostly it s always been a success. West
Side Story, is watched, taught and revived worldwide and will be for many generations to come.
The producers were Robert E. Griffith and Harold S. Prince; The very first production was
September 26th, 1957. There were 985 performances. Arthur Laurents is the playwright for West
Side Story. Arthur is most known for his work in West Side Story, and Gypsy. He attended
Cornell University and majored in English. His career started writing simple scripts for radio
stations and programs. Soon Laurents got drafted into the U.S Army. While in the army, he
made and wrote scripts for training films and programs for the Army. Leonard Bernstein was the
composer for West Side Story. Leonard Bernstein is most famous for helping compose the score
for West Side Story. He learned to play piano when he was only 10. Dmitri Mitropoulos, a
conductor for the Boston Symphony, was Leonard s mentor for a week. Afterwards, he had a

A Basic Overall Assessment Of Pasco County Health
A basic overall assessment of Pasco county health concludes that the county is a moderately healthy
community with chronic illness being a major issue. When comparing Pasco County In the area of
Health outcome to the 67 other counties in Florida Pasco places 45th. The higher the score the
worse the county is. (County Health, 2013) There are two categories that the rankings were broken
into were health outcomes and health factors. Health outcome refers to mortality and morbidity.
Health factors pertain to health risks including factors like alcohol use, access to care and
education. With Health factors Pasco ranked 28th. The rankings vary by a large margin and lead to
the conclusion that the county has relatively healthy.
What I can infer from the statistics found there is a major issue with chronic diseases and other
health factors, which has the potential to lead to a very unhealthy community. The statistics
shows that there is a higher diabetes rate in the county then the average for the state. When it
comes to communicable disease, Pasco has below average contraction. An example would be
Infection with HIV or AIDs, Pasco has around 2.4% while the state average is 5% (County

Characteristics, Issues And Trends Of The Region From An...
This report has been conducted on the East Asia region based on the information provided by the
universities of Kansas State and Massey. The focus of this report is to identify and describe
important characteristics, issues and trends of the region from an agricultural perspective. To
provide an introduction and insight first a brief summary of East Asiawill be provided.
East Asia includes approximately 15 countries, within this there is a population of 1.974 billion
people. Of the total population 51% live within rural areas resulting in agriculture making up
11% of GDP, which is considerably more than the likes of the US (1% of GDP). There is
considerable diversity between countries within East Asia. There are major differences between
country s GDP per capita and economic development, resulting in distinctive high, middle and
low per capita GDP groups as shown in figure 1. New Zealand in comparison would be in the
high per capita group with a GDP of $36,200. The East Asia countries in which agriculture makes
up largest proportion of their GDP are within the lower to middle GDP band and are Vietnam with
22%, Indonesia with 15% and Thailand with 12%. Whereas in comparison to the likes of Japan
who has the highest GDP per capita within the region, agriculture only represents 1%. It can also be
seen that the risk of investment increases in East Asia as incomes reduce and that the middle
income countries have considerable growth potential.

Ethical Issues In Nursing
Ethical issues will always arise during a pandemic illness. At least one of the four principles of
medical ethics that guide nurses will have to be put into play when confronted with ethical issues.
The outbreaks of the HIV/AIDS virus can be seen as an example for ethical issues posed by
epidemic emergencies. According to Chiappelli et al. (2015), ethical dilemmas observed during this
outbreak includes isolation and quarantine; privacy and confidentiality; and the interpretation of
ethical norms across different ethno cultural settings. In such cases, ethical guidance for pandemic
planning is generally concerned with procedural notions of justice (Njozing, Edin, San Sebastian,

The NFL Fining Players
Anonymous Dolphin
Hour 8
Edited by
NFL Fining Players Imagine a person fresh out of college getting fined thousands of dollars. This
happens all of the time in the NFL. The bad thing is they re not even breaking the law. Players
are breaking the rules in the NFL and get fined. The reason behind all of this is to keep a fair
game between the franchises. Yet these people make thousands and thousands of dollars anyways.
Does fining even make a difference to them anyways? Some say the NFL fining its players is a
good thing. In the NFL there are many things that can cause a fine to a player. According to Jason
Plautz players in the NFL can get fines for simply changing the color of their shoes (Mental
Floss). Excessive celebration is a common way to get fined usually in the endzone. Only certain
celebrations that would include fans or messing with the pylons and actions along those lines
can result in a fine to a player. Also making contact with a referee in any way, which can be
known in some cases as unsportsmanlike conduct will cause a fine in the direction of that
player. Punching and kicking a player from the opposing team will get a player fined. In some
cases tackling the quarterback after he has thrown the ball is illegal and the NFL will fine the
player, and also late hits and cut blocking are illegal. The interesting thing is a player can avoid a
fine, if there is no penalty flag thrown because of their actions. In the NFL there have been fines

Texas Is A State Of The Wild Frontier
Texas Texas is a state that is dearly loved by its inhabitants, and even some who do not live there.
Despite how many people love it, there are a lot of people who dislike Texas and the pride
Texans have for it. Texas fought for independence from a country much larger than itself, and
then chose to become a part of the United States, while still reserving the right to secede. Many
people do not take into accord the reasons why Texans are so proud. Perhaps the most famous
Texans are men who weren t even born in the state. David Davy Crockett won himself the

Crockett knew of a few of President Jackson s corrupt ways, and after calling him out on these
things, President Jackson, nicknamed Old Hickory used his powers to keep Davy Crockett from
serving a third term in Congress. Angered by this, Crockett said, If I m not permitted to serve
my own country any longer, my constituents can go to hell, and I will go where people need me,
that place being Texas (Kubiak 87 88). This is a quote that became very popular among modern
Texans after being shortened to You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas. When he arrived
in Texas in January of 1836 with twelve other men, he read the oath of Texas allegiance. He turned
down a position of command, and stated that he wanted to defend the most defenseless part of the
Alamo (Kubiak 102, 90). The first shot fired at the Battle of the Alamo was by Davy Crockett,
which caused the first blood to fall. It was reported that Davy Crockett hit his target at least 300
feet away. After the Texan soldiers had been destroyed, Santa Anna sent in his men to find the
leaders of the Texans. They found David Crockett amidst a room full of dead Mexican soldiers
(Kubiak 91). David Crockett has since been named a hero to all Texans. Alongside Davy Crockett,
there were two other men who were seen as leaders of the Texas Revolution: William B. Travis and
Jim Bowie. All three of them died together during the Battle of the Alamo. Bowie, who had

The Night Of The Broken Glass By Markus Zusak
On November 9, 1933, Joseph Goebbels made a speech that initiated a crowd of violent Nazi
activists who would burn down over 1,000 synagogues, and destroy over 7,000 businesses, thus
creating Kristallnacht, the night of the broken glass . Following this act, was the beginning of the
Holocaust. 6 months later, on May 10, 1933, members of the Nazi German Student Association, as
well as other university students, burned close to 25,00 volumes of un German books to promote
their nationwide campaign: Actions against the un German spirit .
Markus Zusak uses the monstrosities of the Kristallnacht and Jewish book burning period in his
book, The Book Thief as a reminder of the effects of the Nazi assaults on everyday life.
In this essay, I will explain the reasoning behind the Nazi book burnings and what kind of books
would have ended up in the fire that Leisel witnessed in The Book Thief. I will also argue that
The Book Thief presents a kind of protest against the Nazi assault on knowledge and social
consciousness through the celebration of reading and writing as a kind of power of human
capabilities. As part of the Hitlerite attempt to control society, Nazi members organized book
burning events in hopes to destroy all un German literacy. All material that was viewed
representations of forward thinking that opposed the ideologies of Nazism were banished and
eliminated. This act raises the question: what provoked the Nazi member to attack the literature of

Pros And Cons Of Being An American Citizen
Classification keeps order intact in a society with billions of people. From birth, I was classified
by gender, race, place of origin, and family background; as a student, age and intelligence level
were added to my extended list of classifications. Not all classifications are automatically given to
us, however; choosing to become a member of clubs and organizations has allowed me to become
a productive member of society.
First and foremost, I classify myself as an American citizen. Being an American citizen has
responsibilities that allow for all members to be accepted. Laws keep society functioning,
protecting and giving rights such as freedom of speech to Americans. I am able to express my
patriotism towards the United States and, if needed, can serve to protect other citizens of my
country. On a smaller scale, I am a member of Ritchie County and have contributed to making the
county a better place. As a student, I am the next generation to make a difference in the world,
and attending classes gives me the knowledge needed to allow this to happen. The senior class is
the role model for underclassmen, so I strive for the best grades I could achieve and respect
everyone to show those younger than me how to behave. Being part of the Leo club allows me to

Asian Carp And The New Carp
Over the course of the mid to late 20th century, five species of non native carp fish, collectively
referred to as Asian carp , have been introduced to the United States either for aesthetic purposes,
to supplement game fishing, or to help manage local pest species. Some of these carp species
have escaped into America s waterways and proved to be prolific breeders and voracious feeders,
out hunting and out breeding native species. As with any environmental issue, there exist many
parties who have differing points of contention over this problem and many different solutions have
been proposed to correct it. To resolve this issue will take a comprehensive analysis of the problem
and an examination of the participants involved, their perspectives on Asian carp, and how the
proposed solutions to this issue will affect them. Beginning in the 1830 s, five successive waves
of foreign carp species; grass, common, silver, bighead, and black carp, were introduced to the
United States to help improve the quality of agricultural ponds, but some of them subsequently
escaped into the Midwestern river systems (Koel, 2000, Pg. 1). Of these species, the two most
infamous are silver and bighead carp. Both species are filter feeders, and following their entry into
the river systems in the eighties, they have been competing with native filter feeders for food
(Sampson, 2008, Pg. 483).
Asian carp grow in excess of five feet and can weigh upwards of 100 pounds. They are voracious

The Fama-French Three Factor Model Case Study
¬¬Introduction
Eugene Fama from the University of Chicago and Kenneth R. French from the Yale School of
Management s were done a research on examining the validity of capital asset pricing model
(CAPM). It was published in 1992; and well known as The Fama French three factors model (TFM).
Fama and French TFM is used to explain the risk and return on equity portfolios. It compares the
portfolio to three distinct risks found in equity market. Those three distinct risks are sensitivity to
market, or we call it beta; size risks or SMB factor, small minus big; and market risk or HML
factor, high minus low.
Value Stocks versus Growth Stocks
In the Rethinking Stock Returns article, it defines value stocks as stocks with low ratio of book to
market value. Its price is low relative to their book value and thus considered as undervalued by a
value investor. Usually this stock has high dividend yield.
On the other hand, growth stocks usually doesn t pay dividend at all, as the company would most
likely to reinvest the earning it gets to the capital project. Growth stocks has low ratio of book to
market value, its earnings are expected to grow at an above average rate relative to the market. Not

seemed full of life and carried much potential. At first glance, it did not seem that way to anyone.
As time progressed, the hotel proved its worth. Sociological imagination enables an individual
to step outside the box and think from a different perspective. It provokes questions and forces
one to think away from the familiarities of his or her life. The setting of India shifts the dynamic
and culture away from their roots to Britain. Muriel played by Maggie Smith is a prime example
of sociological imagination. She is a retired housekeeper that needs hip surgery that either needs
six months of waiting in Britain or right away and for cheap in India. Muriel s character is

Narrative Essay On High School Basketball
My freshman year of high school basketball was almost coming to an end. Our record was pretty
stellar, and we needed one more win to get the wildcard, which meant we would automatically
make it to state. My team was playing against Malcolm, in a really tight game. We were down by
two points and Coach Henkel put me in to shoot a three pointer, but both of our hopes and
dreams were short lived. I missed the shot, and I lost the game for us. I was devastated, and so
was everyone else. As I sat in the locker room, all I could do was stare at the ground. The only
thing running through my mind was, no one is going to trust me with the ball anymore or worse
yet, everyone is going to be mad at me. These thoughts were slowly tearing me down, day by day.
But that was until Coach Henkel talked to me, and told me not to worry about missing the shot.
He told me everyone misses, and that he wasn t to worried. So, I was given two options, dwell on
the past and let that affect my playing, or forget about it and move on.
I have been given multiple opportunities where not dwelling on the past has come into play. In the
eighth grade I helped someone cheat on a test, and got caught. Yes, it was a bad decision and I

Salmonella – description, pathogenesis, symptoms Essay
Salmonella description, pathogenesis, symptoms
Salmonella is a gram negative bacillus that causes inflammation of the GI tract and in some cases, if
the immune response is not sufficiently powerful and treatment is not administered, can become
systemic and cause even more serious conditions throughout the body. After ingestion, these
bacteria cause infection by invading the epithelial cells of the small intestine and macrophages.
Though there are more than two thousand different subspecies of Salmonella, few of them are able
to cause serious conditions in humans for most, the disease resolves itself in a matter of days.
Those who are most affected by Salmonella infection are infants, the elderly, and people with

salmonella is a specialized invader of the gastrointestinal system that can cause a variety of painful
conditions of varying severity.
The bacteria known as Salmonellae are gram negative, rod shaped bacilli that belong to the family
Enterobacteriacea they are typically anaerobic, unable to form spores, and motile, or able to move
around spontaneously. An important characteristic of the Salmonella bacteria is that they are able
to grow and multiply outside living host organisms, thus having greater survival chances than
otherwise (Gray and Fedorka Cray 56).
The bacteria can have a combination of three antigens: the O antigen, H antigen, and Vi antigen.
The O antigen is located in the cell wall of the bacterium, and each salmonella bacillus may
posses 2 or more O antigens on its surface. Also, the H antigen is a flagellar antigen that can be
destroyed by heat and enables the motility of the Salmonella bacterium (Slack and Snyder 295).
The last antigen is known as the Vi antigen because this antigen is related the virulence of the
bacterium. As a capsular antigen, its presence enhances the virulence of the bacterium that has it of
all the sub species of Salmonella, only two, Salmonella enterica serovar (S.) typhi and S.
choleraesuis, have the Vi antigen (296).
Depending on whether the type of Salmonella has one of

Essay on Clinical Practice Have Been Revolutionised by PCR
Summary: Two decades after its discovery PCR have completely changed clinical practice. PCR
is a gold standard method for detecting and identifying pathogen. By observing viral load it allows
to predict disease progression and therefore design a better treatment. It is allowing non invasive
prenatal diagnosis of many genetic defects. There are few limitations however at the rate PCR is
advancing, no doubt in future whole clinical practice will be dependent on PCR.
Background: Polymerase Chain reaction (PCR) is an in vitro process that enables exponential
amplification of the define target DNA sequence. The process involves three steps: denaturation,
annealing and elongation. In the first step, the reaction mixture containing target ... Show more

This includes prenatal diagnosis of gene mutations, diagnostic detection of target DNA sequence,
genome scanning for mutation and forensic matching of scanty cellular DNA with individual
suspect. But one of its greatest contributions has been in clinical practice. The purpose of the essay
is to discuss how PCR have revolutionised clinical practice.
Method: PubMed Central (The U.S. National Institution of Health) has been used predominantly as
a source of primary literature. Some secondary literature has been used for definitions and to
advance the understanding the methods of PCR. Search engine also have been used throughout the
essay for other journal and websites.
Discussion: Prenatal diagnosis of sickle cell anaemia is one of the applications of PCR with high
sensitivity and specificity. Before the advancement of PCR, it used to take several weeks to
perform hybridization with a probe by using southern blot but now this is done within 24 hours.(3)
PCR also can be employed for the prenatal diagnosis of ОІ thalassemia , phenylketouria,
haemophilia and cystic fibrosis.
The existence of foetal DNA in maternal plasma was first discovered in 1997 which provided the
opportunity to develop a non invasive method to detect foetal genetic abnormality. It have been
demonstrated that using real time PCR foetal DNA can be detected

Why Is Anzac Day Important
Why is the Anzac Centenary important for Modern Australia?
Every year, Anzac Day is celebrated across the nation, unifying Australians regardless of their
background or place of birth to commemorate the service and sacrifice displayed by the men and
women of the Anzac Forces. The 25th of April 2015, will mark the Centenary of the Gallipoli
Campaign, and will be one of the most significant commemorations to take place of its generation.
Despite the Campaign having been deemed a disaster with a large number of casualties along with
the failure to achieve military victory, it has contributed tremendously to the development of
Australia s culture and identity. This Campaign observed the emergence of the Anzac Legend,

During the Victorian Bushfires, for example, many Australian communities were confronted with
tremendous loss and hardship. It was during these times that the Anzac Spirit was very apparent
amongst the community, with the emergence of everyday Australians surfacing as heroes.
Australian volunteers from across communities, along with official government services came
together to assist victims and to ease their suffering in providing them shelter, basic necessities, as
well as moral support. Nick Jans, a Vietnam Veteran, said the generosity shown after the bushfires
invoked the Anzac spirit, which he stated was not just a matter of the armed forces but deeply
embedded in the Australian psyche 4. It is through the influence of Anzac Legend that has inspired
Australians to recapture the Anzac spirit, engraining the attributes displayed by them to their very
own thinking process. Through such times, the significance of the Anzac Legend and its strong
links and influence to the Australian community are clear. Therefore, the Anzac Centenary is
tremendously important for modern Australia in acknowledging and honoring the Anzac soldiers
that fought in Gallipoli, forming an inheritance that presently, has great meaning and relevance

fascinating, there is a bigger reason she is so passionate about her work. In the text, there is a
small passage that displays her emotion towards murder. She writes I felt anger toward people

Reinventing Canada Stephen Harper s Conservative...
By drawing to the discipline of Political Science, the article Reinventing Canada Stephen Harper s
Conservative Revolution by Jordan Michael Smith discusses the power that prime minister
Stephen Harper has in the Canadian Government. First, Smith argues that to some extend Harper
holds a lot of power when it comes to developing foreign policies with other nations. Second, this
article also analyses the privileges the Prime minister has in parliament as the head of state with a
great amount of power. Lastly, some of Smith s points can be criticized for their inconsistent biased
approach, and the fact that some of his accusations on Prime minister Harper are solely based on
his opinion.
The Prime minister of Canada is the head of government and holds the power to control the
international relations Canada has with other countries. Smith states that prime minister Stephen
Harper consistently stakes out hawkish ground on international matters (Smith 22). For example,
Harper has issued a policy which makes Canada the single most supportive nation of Israeli policy
(Smith 24). In addition, Smith explains how in 2006 Harper held a unexpected vote to to ... Show

Smith argues that the Prime minister can coerce legislators into supporting his proposals (Smith

Smith discusses how the Canadian government allows its leader to ratify its chosen policy
because the Prime minister s words carry especially great weight (smith 22). For example, the
Canadian military spent $21.8 billion per year in it s military under Harper s domain (Smith 23).
This demonstrates that Harper has always sought a leadership role in its military mission abroad

In contrast to both there is Sales Orientation, (Dunnett, 2014) which would be defined as
focusing on the selling of the product. This prioritizes the selling of the product above the
customers satisfaction. This orientation relies on the sales team in the pushing of the product or
service using aggressive sales techniques to achieve high profits. Here the assumption that sale
prices that are high in value equate to substantial profit. In comparison with customer orientated
corporations where the customers needs and wants are met, the firm will focuses a lot less on
the satisfaction of the customer as it is presumed that high value equals satisfaction. So the
customer will get high value but that might not necessarily be what the customer is looking for.
This is where the sales teams responsibility lies; they need to sell using aggressive sales
techniques. Cold calling about PPI (PPICLAIMSADVICE, 2014) claims would be an example
where a service is promoted for free to claim money for you, the value lies in the fact it s free but
it s a service not many people need. If they fail to see what the customer wants it ll in the long term

The New Frontier of Automobiles
The New Frontier of Automobiles
Machines running, hammers dropping, and drills drilling are the sounds of Henry Ford s
revolutionary assembly line. Henry Ford grew up in the late eighteenth century during the industrial
revolution. There were no electric lights, only gas lamps and candles. Horses and trains were the
only cost effective way of transportation for the public. When Henry Ford was a child, he saw a
steam driven car on the road and was mesmerized. At this point, he knew he longed to become a
mechanic that works on cars. At the age of sixteen, Henry Ford got a job as an apprentice
machinist in Detroit at the Detroit Dry Dock Company. Three years later he returned to work on the

The purpose of making a car affordable to the average man was an incredible task taken on and
completed by Henry Ford. His creativity made him famous and respected throughout the world.
Henry Ford, an American industrialist proved, not only to America but to the world that a car can
be affordable to the so called, Everyday Man . Henry Ford did not invent the car; he produced an
automobile that was within the economic reach of the average American (Sorensen 1).
Subsequently, Henry Ford s assembly lines were used in World War II to make equipment for the
army. His car company, Ford, still produces one of the most durable and most cost effective car
on the planet. In fact, every big car franchise today uses Henry Ford s one hundred year old
assembly line in order to manufacture safe and efficient transportation for everyone. Seeing that,
Henry Ford s moving assembly line has grown more complex because the parts and variety of
vehicles being built continue to evolve. As a matter of fact, more automakers continue to improve
the assembly line with flexible tooling, virtual engineering and robotics in order to keep up with
the demands of the twenty first century with ambitions of making Henry Ford s one hundred year
old technology better. Above all, making the automobile less expensive was an achievement in the
engineer world, and as Henry Ford said, Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is

Many People Surmise That Products In Advertisements Do
Many people surmise that products in advertisements do what they promise to. The same people
will believe any claim to be true when the face of a authoritative figure like Kim Kardashian is
included in the advertisement. When the topic of fitness and health, self esteem, or self confidence
is brought into play, potential customers will readily buy into the probability that one product can
positively and effectively change their lives (without any knowledge that they are being
manipulated by fallacies). This is exactly what happened when Skechers released their Shape Ups

In the advertisement, Skechers claims that by wearing Shape ups a person will tone and

hotspots . In order for these claims to appear true and reliable, Skechers uses Kim Kardashian, to
advertise the Shape Ups campaign. By showing that Kim Kardashian wears Shape Ups, it
imposes a correlation to anyone viewing the advertisement that if she wears them and she is in
good shape, then that will inevitably happen to me. But that is simply not the case as evidence
has come to show. Firstly, Skechers claim to strengthen muscle is entirely false. Shape Ups do not
tone or strengthen your lower extremities like promised that statement alone is purely
manipulative. In his article, Science Says: Skechers Shape Ups Are Worthless Jeff Barnett writes,
Every time it appeared research tests might find a muscle that was worked harder by the Shape
Up shoes, it turned out the added weight from the bottom foot padding was the culprit, not the
profile of the shoe. Secondly, the Shape Ups advertisement states that taking a stroll with a pair of

  • 2. Essay about Background and Character of T.J. Avery Background and Character of T.J. Avery Ladies and gentlemen of the court, I have been charged with investigating, and bringing to the attention of the court the entire background and character of T.J. Avery from an impartial point of view. These are my findings. T.J. Avery comes from a sharecropping family which live and work on Mr. Gangers land; they are poor and lack financial independence. T.J. s father is a weak old man and in consequence lacks the physical strength to punish him, for anything he does wrong. T.J. has almost no principles, so he has no problem with getting others in trouble when he was the one who was the cause... Prior to this T.J. had been caught rummaging threw Misses Logan s books at her desk looking for the test, after sneaking into her room, while visiting the Logan household as a friend of the Logan children. T.J. is befriended by R.W. and Melvin Simms, who buy him alcohol at The Wallace Store. T.J. is proud of this friend ship with the two white boys, but T.J. is disgusted that Grand Mother Logan wanted to see Mr Wade W. Jamison, who is an attorney at Law. This is while he was visiting the town of Strawberry with Grand Mother Logan and the Logan children. Also while in strawberry Stacey Logan is foolishly persuaded by T.J. to go into the white mans store, which is other wise know as The Barnett Mercantile, while in the mercantile T.J. is mesmerised by the peal handled pistol. Later that month Stacey Logan is given I new coat form his Uncle, Hammer Logan, T.J. mocks him and his coat, saying that he looked like a fat preacher because the coat was a bit big on him at the time, later T.J. cons Stacy into lending him the coat until Stacey ... • 3. Louisiana Purchase Dbq Louisiana Purchase Seminar Write Up The Louisiana Purchase today, is considered one of the greatest things an acting president has ever done. However, when Jefferson did buy the territory, it was viewed by many of his fellow Republicans as Federalistic, and an act of viewing the Constitution very loosely. Many claimed that he was abandoning his political principles, which he had fought for so strongly in the past. However, amid all the claims of his betrayal of his political principles by buying the territory without consulting congress, it is clear that he didn t abandon them, because he did it for an agrarian expansion, and because he believed that it was best for Americans. Both of these reasons are two of the main ideals of the Republican... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was for several reasons, primarily being the hypocrisy of using the necessary and proper clause after having attacked Hamilton relentlessly for having used the same clause to set up a National Bank. It is obvious just how much hypocrisy was taking place when we see Jefferson comments regarding the National Bank, in which he said, To take a single step beyond the boundaries specially drawn around powers of Congress is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible of any decision. By using the necessary and proper clause, Jefferson managed to avoid having to go through Congress to get approval, and also managed to avoid the state governments, just as Hamilton did. This was the exact opposite of what a typical Republican would do, as they believed that the states should have much more power than the federal government. Given that he appears to go against many of the Republican main ideals, he was considered by several as a neo Federalist. However, even amongst all of this, it is still clear that he didn t throw away his political ideals as many said he did, which can be seen in the ways that he did all of this to help the people who he was ... • 4. The Concept Of Capacity And Capacity Utilization 1.2 The concept of capacity and capacity utilization Capacity is very important but least understood concept in manufacturing and business world (Klammer,1996). Different categories of people in business and manufacturing measure capacity differently. For example, some financial managers might measure plant capacity in terms of the equipment installed in the plant while operational supervisors might measure capacity in terms of worker efficiency. Klein Summers ,(1996) defined an organization s productive capacity as the total level of output or production that it could produce in a given time period . Capacity utilization is the percentage of the firm s total possible production capacity that is being used. Therefore, an organization should be most efficient if it is running at 100% capacity utilization. An organization s full capacity is the minimum point on total cost function, a full input point on the aggregate production function and a bottleneck point in a general equilibrium system. Full capacity should be defined as a realizable level of output that can be attained under normal input conditions without prolonging accepted working ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, the existence of excess capacity is often cited as evidence indicating the presence of monopolistic elements within individual industries. The notion of Capacity utilization is also widely used in business cycle analysis to characterize the situation of individual industries or whole economies and to assess the appropriateness of economic policy. It also plays an important role in econometric models in estimation of the relative significance of the determinants in investment, imports etc. The concept of capacity relates to output. It is therefore different from concepts referring to a single factor of production such as the degree of utilization of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of Indentured Servants When Europeans first came to the New World they were stunned to see how cheap land was and how expensive labor was. Many of these settlers relied on Indentured servants and Indians as cheap labor but this came with many disadvantages. Indentured servants carried too high a price for farmers who raised crops for subsistence. ( The American Journey Ch. 3, Pg.78) Another disadvantage to using indentures servants was that they only worked long enough to repay the debt they had. Using Indians also came with an array of problems. One of the most blaring problems was the death rate. Many Native Americans died from diseases that the settlers brought with them and some of them died from being overworked with made the death rate sky rocket. Men also ... • 6. John Steinbeck s East of Eden Biblical Symbolism in East of Eden Throughout the novel East of Eden, Steinbeck uses many biblical references to illustrate clearly the conflict between the opposing forces of good and evil. Much of the plot of East of Eden is centered upon the two sets of brothers representing Cain and Abel. Both pairs are similar to Cain and Abel in the way they go about winning their fathers favors. All four give gifts to their fathers, and the fathers dismiss the gifts of Charles and Caleb, the Cain representations (Marks, Jay Lester. p.121). Caleb and Charles Trask are obviously the more malignant brothers. They are also the more loving towards their father. Steinbeck s purpose in this is to illustrate the need of the Cain character in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cathy Kate combines many biblical figures as well. She is not only Eve, but she is Cain s wife and the serpent of Eden as well (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). Thus she is the representation of evil too. Cathy is evil to the point where she is not human. Her presence in the novel is meant to represent evil and all of its cruel intentions. All of her deeds are intended to show how far from the real world Cathy actually is (Howard, Levant. p. 245). Steinbeck compares Cathy to other prostitutes in Salinas Valley, the setting of Eastof Eden. She is described as the only whore who is incapable of being a good person. She is an inhuman being whose life revolves around cruelty and wrongdoing. She is solely satanic and destroys the innocence of man (Marks, Jay Lester. p. 126 127). John Steinbeck includes more of the tale of Genesis: 4 than is actually told in the bible. The basis of this is a Jewish story involving twin sisters of both Cain and Abel. The two disputed over Abel s twin whom Abel was to marry. Cain murdered Abel and wed the twin sister of his brother (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3380). The story differs also in that it is Abel who leaves his home instead of Cain. Abel found his Eden, represented by Salinas Valley, but lost it after fathering a second generation very similar to the first, Caleb representing Cain and Aron representing Abel (Fonterose, Joseph. p.3379). The story is changed by Steinbeck to illustrate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Symbols Of Lucille Desiree Ball What is an American icon? According to Webster s Dictionary, it is a person or thing that is idolized. It is someone who, by mention of their name, will remind people of who they are and what they are famous for. Synonyms include representation and symbol. When you hear the name Lucille Ballor I Love Lucyyou probably think of a skittish red head who had eccentric expressions and made America laugh. Lucille Desiree Ball was, and still is, an American icon because of what she represented in all four of her shows, how she changed the television and movie industry, and her fashion sense which created a well known look for herself. Lucille Ball was born on August 6, 1911, in Jamestown, New York, to Henry and Desiree Ball. She also had a younger brother, Fred, who was born four years later in 1915. While Lucille s mother was still pregnant with Fred, her father was struck with typhoid fever and passed away. After her father passed away, her mother eventually remarried to Ed Peterson. Ed, not being a fan of children, decided that he and Desiree would move to Detroit without Lucille s kids. Fred moved in with Desiree s parents, and Lucille moved in with Ed s parents. Lucille recalled her new family being very poor and strict, saying that they didn t even have enough money for school pencils. Ed s mother taught her needlework, which is how she ended up loving to crochet for the rest of her life. When Lucille was 11 years old, she reunited with her mom and Ed. At ... At first Charity is disgusted by herself for giving in to Mr. Royall s advances, after a silent agreement between her and Mr. Royall in which she realizes he has no intention of making her do anything she doesn t want to do, she realizes that this is the best outcome for her and accepts her fate. Even though the marriage between Mr. Royall and Charity Royall could be considered incest, the two were not biologically related and therefore the marriage was lawfully alright. • 12. Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep Character Analysis Diminishing Difference Between Humans and Androids Throughout Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, author Philip K. Dick explored the effect empathy had on the characters. In the novel, bounty hunters Voigt Kampff Test measured empathy, and if a person was found to fail the test, that person was considered to be an android (Dick 44). As a result of this method, the humans had ironically become the less empathetic, which resulted in androids becoming closer to human by default. Dick explored the declining empathy of humans by looking at what they have resorted to in order to identify androids. The Voigt Kampff Test was a vital tool to the bounty hunters tasked with finding and retiring illegal androids (57); however, the test itself was calculating and cold, only able to deliver a yes or no, fail or pass, 0 or 1 (46). The Voigt Kampff Test, humans only anchor point in a world where anyone could be an android, was just as devoid of empathy as humans see androids (40).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those leaders express their profound thoughts for both him and the many others that are too afraid to speak out. The experiences one would face if he/she succumbs into the negative influences of others would be similar to that of African American slaves. Because of human nature, jealousy exists amongst every individual and by allowing others to control aspects of your life, he/she will be able harm those dependent variables of one s life. Similarly, Whitman states that one should freely ...give alms to everyone that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families... In the novel 1984 and the film V for Vendetta , the protagonist for both stories are captured while performing various acts of rebellion against the totalitarian government, of which is controlling their city. In punishment, the government tortures them with harsh, inhumane methods that are similar to those used in dictatorships during the 1900s like the USSR under Stalin s rule. However, both protagonists are tortured by different sides, and by people from completely opposite ends of the political ladder: one a government agent, the other a rebel. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In V for Vendetta , the purpose of Evey s torture was quite simple. V was doing what Evey asked of him: To become fearless against the government. Evey was kidnapped by V after Gordon was killed by government agents for conspiracies against Norsefire (the government), and then placed in a false government facility where Evey believed that she had been taken hostage by the secret agents. But she was in fact under V s supervision and being tortured and interrogated by V, whom had no intention of killing her from the beginning. The amount of control and restraints that V put on this project displays a theme of control. He is controlling how Evey s personality, thinking, and memories should be by forcing her to believe in a false reality. She believes that she is interrogated only to disclose V s location, but she endures the harsh interrogations while gaining hatred for the government and fearlessness. These facts demonstrate the theme of alienation, because V made Evey just like him: Fearless against the government. This identity was not who Evey was before, and through torture, pain and brainwashing he had taken away her identity, and replaced it with what he thought was best for the future, and what would be beneficial to him as an ally. Excessive celebration is a common way to get fined usually in the endzone. Only certain celebrations that would include fans or messing with the pylons and actions along those lines can result in a fine to a player. Also making contact with a referee in any way, which can be known in some cases as unsportsmanlike conduct will cause a fine in the direction of that player. Punching and kicking a player from the opposing team will get a player fined. In some cases tackling the quarterback after he has thrown the ball is illegal and the NFL will fine the player, and also late hits and cut blocking are illegal. • 33. Asian Carp And The New Carp Over the course of the mid to late 20th century, five species of non native carp fish, collectively referred to as Asian carp , have been introduced to the United States either for aesthetic purposes, to supplement game fishing, or to help manage local pest species. Some of these carp species have escaped into America s waterways and proved to be prolific breeders and voracious feeders, out hunting and out breeding native species. As with any environmental issue, there exist many parties who have differing points of contention over this problem and many different solutions have been proposed to correct it. To resolve this issue will take a comprehensive analysis of the problem and an examination of the participants involved, their perspectives on Asian carp, and how the proposed solutions to this issue will affect them. Beginning in the 1830 s, five successive waves of foreign carp species; grass, common, silver, bighead, and black carp, were introduced to the United States to help improve the quality of agricultural ponds, but some of them subsequently escaped into the Midwestern river systems (Koel, 2000, Pg. 1). Of these species, the two most infamous are silver and bighead carp. Both species are filter feeders, and following their entry into the river systems in the eighties, they have been competing with native filter feeders for food (Sampson, 2008, Pg. 483). Asian carp grow in excess of five feet and can weigh upwards of 100 pounds. They are voracious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It provokes questions and forces one to think away from the familiarities of his or her life. The setting of India shifts the dynamic and culture away from their roots to Britain. We were down by two points and Coach Henkel put me in to shoot a three pointer, but both of our hopes and dreams were short lived. I missed the shot, and I lost the game for us. The bacteria known as Salmonellae are gram negative, rod shaped bacilli that belong to the family Enterobacteriacea they are typically anaerobic, unable to form spores, and motile, or able to move around spontaneously. An important characteristic of the Salmonella bacteria is that they are able to grow and multiply outside living host organisms, thus having greater survival chances than otherwise (Gray and Fedorka Cray 56). By drawing to the discipline of Political Science, the article Reinventing Canada Stephen Harper s Conservative Revolution by Jordan Michael Smith discusses the power that prime minister Stephen Harper has in the Canadian Government. Second, this article also analyses the privileges the Prime minister has in parliament as the head of state with a great amount of power. Cold calling about PPI (PPICLAIMSADVICE, 2014) claims would be an example where a service is promoted for free to claim money for you, the value lies in the fact it s free but it s a service not many people need. If they fail to see what the customer wants it ll in the long term ultimately lead to customer dissatisfaction, loss of customer, loss of profit, and Leading the firm ultimately to bankruptcy. • 53. The New Frontier of Automobiles The New Frontier of Automobiles Machines running, hammers dropping, and drills drilling are the sounds of Henry Ford s revolutionary assembly line. Henry Ford grew up in the late eighteenth century during the industrial revolution. There were no electric lights, only gas lamps and candles. Horses and trains were the only cost effective way of transportation for the public. When Henry Ford was a child, he saw a steam driven car on the road and was mesmerized. At this point, he knew he longed to become a mechanic that works on cars. At the age of sixteen, Henry Ford got a job as an apprentice machinist in Detroit at the Detroit Dry Dock Company. Three years later he returned to work on the family farm, and became adept at operating the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of making a car affordable to the average man was an incredible task taken on and completed by Henry Ford. His creativity made him famous and respected throughout the world. Henry Ford, an American industrialist proved, not only to America but to the world that a car can be affordable to the so called, Everyday Man . Henry Ford did not invent the car; he produced an automobile that was within the economic reach of the average American (Sorensen 1). Subsequently, Henry Ford s assembly lines were used in World War II to make equipment for the army. His car company, Ford, still produces one of the most durable and most cost effective car on the planet. In fact, every big car franchise today uses Henry Ford s one hundred year old assembly line in order to manufacture safe and efficient transportation for everyone. Seeing that, Henry Ford s moving assembly line has grown more complex because the parts and variety of vehicles being built continue to evolve. As a matter of fact, more automakers continue to improve the assembly line with flexible tooling, virtual engineering and robotics in order to keep up with the demands of the twenty first century with ambitions of making Henry Ford s one hundred year old technology better. Above all, making the automobile less expensive was an achievement in the engineer world, and as Henry Ford said, Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress working together is success ( Henry ... • 54. Many People Surmise That Products In Advertisements Do Many people surmise that products in advertisements do what they promise to. The same people will believe any claim to be true when the face of a authoritative figure like Kim Kardashian is included in the advertisement. When the topic of fitness and health, self esteem, or self confidence is brought into play, potential customers will readily buy into the probability that one product can positively and effectively change their lives (without any knowledge that they are being manipulated by fallacies). This is exactly what happened when Skechers released their Shape Ups trainer shoe in 2009, the advertisements Skechers provided promised: increased musclestrength, higher bloodcirculation, and a significant height increase. These... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Which proves that Skechers will go as far as, blatantly lying to customers to make a profit off of their fallacy filled product. In the advertisement, Skechers claims that by wearing Shape ups a person will tone and develop strong muscles , have improved blood circulation , and turn arches into powerful wifi hotspots . In order for these claims to appear true and reliable, Skechers uses Kim Kardashian, to advertise the Shape Ups campaign. By showing that Kim Kardashian wears Shape Ups, it imposes a correlation to anyone viewing the advertisement that if she wears them and she is in good shape, then that will inevitably happen to me. But that is simply not the case as evidence has come to show. Firstly, Skechers claim to strengthen muscle is entirely false. Shape Ups do not tone or strengthen your lower extremities like promised that statement alone is purely manipulative. In his article, Science Says: Skechers Shape Ups Are Worthless Jeff Barnett writes, Every time it appeared research tests might find a muscle that was worked harder by the Shape Up shoes, it turned out the added weight from the bottom foot padding was the culprit, not the profile of the shoe. Secondly, the Shape Ups advertisement states that taking a stroll with a pair of Sketchers Shape ups will improve blood circulation and as a result ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pacific Theatre in World War II United States Involvement in the Pacific Theatre during World War II On 1 September 1939 the country of Germany led by Adolf Hitler invaded Poland using blitzkrieg tactics or in other words lightning war . As Germany is capturing Europe one country at a time Japan is doing the same except with Asia and Japan is also preparing for the attack of the United States naval base on the island of Oahu called Pearl Harbor. The attack on Pearl Harborcaused the United States to declare war on Japan, break isolationism and get deeply involved in World War II. On 7 December 1941 at 7:30 am army privates George Elliot and Joseph Lockard were operating in a radar station when they noticed a large amounts of aircraft incoming but they did not... The Battle of Midway was a huge success in American code breaking and proving that the use of the aircraft carrier would definitely be a vital resource in the Pacific Theater ( Battle of Midway ). Three months later the Americans pressed forward setting their eyes on a near Australia called Guadalcanal. This battle would be the first allied offensive on the Empire of Japan. On 7 August 1942 American forces landed on the islands of Guadalcanal, Tulagi, and Florida in the southern Solomon Islands with the objective of denying their use by the Japanese to threaten the supply and communication routes between the US, Australia, and New Zealand. The Allies also intended to use Guadalcanal and Tulagi as bases to support a campaign to eventually capture or neutralize the major Japanese base at Rabal on New Britain ( Battle of Guadalcanal ). Powerful United States naval forces had supported the landings. Surprised by the Allied offensive, the Japanese made several attempts between August and November 1942 to retake Henderson Field. Three major land battles, seven large naval battles, and continual, almost daily aerial battles culminated in the decisive Naval Battle of Guadalcanal in early November 1942, in which the last ...
