How To Stop High School From Stifling Creativity Analysis
Creativity is the base of human development. School s were first created to help their people to be
skillful and mentally capable to endure all problems. Times have changed and the morals of
education have altered as well. In today s world students from the U.S. are taught and pushed to
memorize information instead of being pushed to learn how to think critically through it. Professor
s should emphasize more on the importance of ingenuity, than the importance of getting a good
grade. The beginning stages of person s life is when one is at their highest potential for developing
creativity. Kyung Hee Kim, an educational psychologist, discovered that between the grades of
kindergarten through sixth the creativity scores have dropped... Show more content on

Tristan de Frondeville, consultant for PBL associates, called the time that students spend dozing
off in class as dead time . Dead time starts from one student and tends to spread because other
classmates would get the impression that full participation is unnecessary. By not acting on the
dead time , students reinforce the idea of memorization and cramming instead of understanding
the information. Eliminating dead time , expands the valuable time classes have, puts both the
student and the teacher s time to correct use, and helps students use each part of their brains to
learn more skills. In the article, How to Keep Kids Engaged in Class , there are said to be four
different levels that categorized the four different students. The first level is the highest level
which make up the students who actively participate in class, but as well as out of class, the
second level are the responsible students, the third level are the students who pass the class by
doing the bare minimum, and the last level are the students who do everything to not have to put in
any effort into the class. Activities other than lectures or straight memory drilling techniques will
have the students from all levels engage in the class and even put in more effort to do

Cheez It Crackers is a brand of processed baked crackers, owned by Kellogg s, made to be enjoyed

Quality Approach And Quality Management
Quality approach and quality management
Poor management regarding the quality of the product has been evident by the 64 roll $100, 000
error. If Portland branch is to remain operational, extensive retraining of management and
employees regarding business expectations, quality and process management in order for the plant s
poor quality approach on its product continue to affect and will likely result of loss of reputation by
REXAM corporate office which affect them financially. Clear instructions and objectives must be
directed to the Portland plant management. Poorly maintained equipment and uninformed staff
along with poor management process has all contributed to the low morale of the employees.
Procedures, quality management has been some of the failure so far. In the interest of quality, a
new or refurbished machinery will be in place at the Portland plant and along with it will be
proper Re education of all employees regarding the importance of quality, proper business
approach, production process and procedure should be in place
Proper recording of maintenance of equipment should also be observed religiously and periodically,
either beginning of the job and after or what the manufacturer suggest. Proper maintenance would
dramatically reduce errors and will improve overhead costs.
Conclusion and recommendation
Due to poor financial performance, Portland Plant was put under review by the management and
here are the results. Due to a curling problem that was

Heron Therapeutic Analysis
U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finally approved the use of Heron Therapeutic, Inc.
s long acting injection of Sustol to prevent Chemoterapy Induced Nausea and Vomiting (CINV). It
becomes the first time the biotech company ever gained regulatory approval.
FDA approves Sustol to help nausea and vomiting from Chemotherapy
As reported by Tech Times, the approval was given on August 9, after twice rejected in a period of
6 years. According to Ralph Boccia, medical director of Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders,
Sustol has proven to give longer acting prevention of CINV to cancer patients after chemotherapy.
According to Boccia, it is an interesting option, that, for up to five days can protect patients from
CINV.
Among treatment given to patients diagnosed with cancer, chemotherapy is considered the most
effective, and thus most commonly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here lies Sustol s superiority over other similar treatments. Approval given to Sustol includes using
other agents combined in its use. It is a bit disappointing, though, that platinum based therapies are
absent from the label, despite strong response Sustol shows in patients given this class of
chemotherapy.
The clinical trial populations and results for Sustol, according to Dr. Jeffrey Vacirca, CEO of North
Shore Hematology Oncology Associates clinical research, are a good representation of cancer
patients who participate in their real world clinical practice, according to Fierce Biotech. He added
that CINV remains the most significant challenge with patients receiving AC (anthracycline and
cyclophosphamide) based regimens and Sustol represents a better option to deal with this painful
side effects.
Rejections by FDA to Heron s Sustol happened twice. The first was in 2010, when additional
testing was required by the agency. The second application received another rejection three years
later on issues of manufacturing and data

Untidy Bungalow Quotes
Because her mother is obsessed with a craving for materialistic gratification, Mary, at the
beginning of this book, acts like a materialist at a young age, which is embodied by her material
interests and her indifference toward the world. In the second chapter, Burnett narrates, ...they wore
shabby clothes and were always quarreling and snatching toys from each other. Mary hated their
untidy bungalow... (9) The verb hated implies that Mary cannot even bear the shabby clothes or
untidy bungalow . She is not able to be satisfied with life without maidservant, luxurious house or
elegant clothes, either. Growing up alone in a world full of shallow materialism, Mary, like her
mother, also has devotion to material needs and desires . In addition, Mary shows her indifference
to the other people and the outside world, like Burnett emphasizes, as she... Show more content on

The author uses the traumatic childhood of Mary, a young girl who is poisoned by materialism,
to reveal the threat posed to the youthful spirit of a nation by the materialism of industrial
progress (Thacker and Webb, 16). And Deborah Cogan Thacker and Jean Webb s another
argument adds complexity to the analysis: [Burnett] does this by constructing the character and
childhood experiences of Mary as negative projections against an idealized model of the Romantic
child. (91) Indulging in the material comfort and living in her own world, Mary is initially the
counter example of the Romantic child who is expected to have a quality of innocence, to be
imaginative and playful, and also to display an intuitive relationship with nature (Thacker and
Webb, 91). To sum up, on the first page of the story, Mary is both the personification and the victim
of materialism; this fact not only supports Burnett s rejection of shallow materialism, but also lays
the foundation of Mary s substantial shift the a Romantic child in the

Dance In Latin America
Music is the way people express their lives. Music is among several ways used to show diversity.
At heart, music acts are the channel for humans to express themselves and others. It is a platform in
which people establish a sense of belonging. The reality can be seen and associated with the
emergence of thousands of musical cultures that have evolved in Latin America. Examples of these
include the slave who is recalling her ancestral spirits on a faraway continent, the local Aztec
warrior who saw his ancient civilization crumble to dust, and the modern youth working hard to
earn a living in modern urban ghettos. All these people were able to express themselves freely
through their music.
History of Latin America dancing
Long before people came to know about rumba or salsa dance, the ancient people of both South and
Central America were developing what is currently known as the Latin dance. These styles of
dances were profoundly influenced by the European and the African modes of dancing in both the
movements and the music used. The dances had the following characteristics/beginnings in the
olden days;
Ritualistic beginning
As early as the 16th century, the explorers and sea goers like Vespucci who had traveled the globe
came back home with stories of the natives who he had seen (Aztec and Inca). He was dazed with
the way they were performing intricate dances.
The Aztec had precise dances that were structured and performed. The young people in the society
were trained in

It began at the second late bell where many gathered outside the throne room, eager to get inside to

Characteristics Of Entrepreneurship
Maki of Japan is a restaurant in Opry Mills Mall. In 2015, the business was not going so good.
The food was not selling as it had to and this was not good for the company nor the employees.
The owner, however was creative. This was his personal characteristic. As the entrepreneur
himself, he slowly changed the menu around. He changed prices, plates, and added more food. He
replaced things that didn t sell to new ones. Example be that he stopped selling cheese wantons to
sell plantains that the customers seemed to like more. Gradually, the business started doing great
again and this was a good sign. As the entrepreneur, he took control and found a way to fix the
situation by his trait.
Entrepreneur motivation can come from a person s life experience. Past jobs, a person s family
business, or education is an example of this. Life experiences can motivate someone to open a
business because the person has already experienced it and knows what they are doing. They
have seen what it is the business will need in order to be successful. This is beneficial for the
business because if the leader knows what they are providing for the customers, the business will
go well.
Previous jobs are a good example of life experiences that can motivate an entrepreneur. If someone
has worked in a job that relates to the business they want to open, it gives that person an advantage
in comparison to another that has not worked too and experienced what they did. For example, if a
person has started

Descriptive Essay About A Cat Show
I went to the cat show hosted by the Santa Monica Cat Club on October 7, 2017 at the Pomona
Fairplex. I always wanted to go to a cat show so I was curious about the one offered by the Santa
Monica Cat Club. I did not know what to expect at all. I am used to seeing what dog shows look
like on TV. The overall environment was relaxing and everyone was relatively calm. At the
entrance, I was given a colorful pamphlet with the catbreeds that were participating in the show.
I was surprised when I entered the building. There were so many cat breeds but the overall
location felt pretty small probably because they do not need as much space as dogs. I went to
every cat that was present in their cat carrier. Some of them were not there because they were
being shown on stage. I wondered if they ever felt stressed being around so many people for long
hours. They probably get used to it after competing at different shows. The breeders seemed pretty
nice and they were willing to let me pet their cats and to tell me more about their breeds.
There were so many cats I could not keep track of their names, awards, and breeds. The breeds
that really stood out to me were the Toygers, Abyssinians, Sphynxs, Persians, and the American
Shorthairs. At the time I did not know as many cat breeds, but I am happy that I learned some
before going because it made the experience that more meaningful. I was too distracted to look at
the breed pamphlet since there were so many cats and I was very fascinated

Essay on American Slavery
American Slavery Between 1830 and 1860, a time of increasing national divisions over slavery,
numerous accounts of slave life were published. These accounts of life under slavery almost
invariably had either abolitionist or pro slavery agendas. Slaves in the ante bellum South lived
under a wide variety of circumstances, and held a variety of positions, including household servant,
wagon driver, iron foundry workers and skilled artisan. Nine out of ten slaveshowever, worked as
farm laborers, growing cotton, tobacco, rice, and other products. About half of these laborers
worked on large plantations of twenty slaves or more, while the others worked on smaller and
poorer farms, often alongside their master.

Slaves have one pair of shoes for the year; if these become worn out in two months, they get no
more that year, but must go barefooted the rest of the year, through cold and heat. The shoes are
very poor ones, made by one of the slaves, and do not last more than two or three months. They
get one pair of stockings for the year. They have one suit of clothes for the year. This is very
poor, and made by the slaves themselves on the plantation. It will not last more than three
months, and then the slave gets no more from the slave holder, if he go naked. This suit consists
of one shirt, one pair of pants, one pair of socks, one pair of shoes, and no vest at all. The slave has
a hat given to him once in two years.
No beds are given to the slaves to sleep on; if they have any they found it themselves. A physician
in Alabama wrote in the Southern Cultivator in 1850: One of the most prolific sources of disease
among Negroes is the condition of there houses.... Small, low, tight and filthy; there houses can be
but laboratories of disease. (Rogers 8)

What Is Porter s Five Forces In Airline Industry
1)Bargaining power of Supplier
Power rests with the suppliers in the form of price and quality of supplies. Suppliers can increase
the price or lower the quality of their goods and services. The power of supplier in the Indian
airline industry is immense because of the three major inputs from the supplier are all affected by
the external environment. These 3 factors and the power of supplier for each component is
explained below.
a)Aircraft
The airline industry needs aircraft either on outright sale or lease basis.
It is difficult to enter into the plane manufacturing industry because of the capital needed to enter.
The amount of money and expertise needed to make even one plane is around 200 million dollars.
For this reason, there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2)Bargaining power of buyers
Buyers are usually customers and customers if powerful have the ability to reduce prices, ask for
high quality products and services. In the Indian airline industry, the bargaining power of buyers
is high and is increasing as there are lots of airlines to choose from and there are hardly any
switching costs. Moreover, there are lots of travel agents and customers can now buy ticket online
from even intermediaries. Therefore, they do not really have to stick to one airline and this
increases the power of the customers.
3)Threat of new entrants
A lucrative industry is always a target for investors looking at investment. One of the foremost
factors in consideration while looking at the attractiveness of an industry is the threat of new
entrants. In the airlines industry, this was a major threat a few years ago. The airlines operating
in the industry were limited and the industry had few players like Indian Airlines and Jet
Airways. However, as the industry had scope for accommodating more players, many players
joined the fray. The airlines industry however comes with its fair share of barriers. The investment
in the airlines is very huge and acts as a major barrier to entry. Bundled with it were different
permits for running an airline company from the civil aviation company and FDI

of over 2 million people and the wide boulevards of the city. Hitler settled in a tiny apartment

they were economically stable. It s even safe to say that Adolph got his first regular job from a

Dance Reflection
Obviously, the goal for the team every year is to win, but we also like to have fun. Natalie
Meloche elaborates on how she feels about spending countless hours at the studio perfecting her
routines, Going to dance class is my favorite part of my day because I can always escape whatever
is going on in my life and just let loose and dance. I also love to see my friends and teachers as
well. In fact, three of the four girls I got answers from said they enjoyed going to class while the
fourth had mixed feeling about it. Although for the majority of the girls, being in class was their
favorite part. My favorite part was all of the team bonding that we did. Outside of the practice
rooms, the team went to the movies together, painted pottery, played laser tag, and took trips to the
cider mill.
Every year, the older girls on the team are paired with one of the younger girls as a mentor. The
goal as a big buddy is to show your little buddy that dance was not just about how well you place
at awards, that dance is about expressing yourself in a way that builds your confidence and helps
you realize that hard work pays off. You just have to be willing to take the comments given to
you. Claire Binguit recalled the moment when a critique changed her outlook on everything:
the most memorable feedback I ve ever gotten was from ms carol saying if you weren t so lazy
you could be great step it up I know you have the potential and I believe in you . Aleah Soliman,
a member of the teen team, recalls a recent time when a teacher s comment boosted her
confidence, my teacher told me how good my solo looked after just a couple weeks doing it .
From my experience in my own solo and my many many years of listening to comments from
judges and teachers, I have learned that although some comments can be extremely hard to hear,
they are meant to make you better and will help you in the long run. Everyone at the studio is
actively applying their comments which results in better scores, which results in wins at
competitions, which again is the main goal of being on the competitive team.
Ever since the competition team was started, there has been a contract that every year each dancer
and their parent/guardian sign the contract

War Against Terror and Human Rights Essay

The Human Rights Act 1998 took full legal effect across the English and Welsh legal systems on
October 2nd 1998. The Act, allows people to claim a number of the rights and freedoms that are set
out in the European Convention on Human Rights. The Government had high hopes that when the
act was passed it would create a Culture of Human Rights within the United Kingdom.
The principal aim of the Human Rights Act 1998 was to give statutory and formal protection in
UK law to a set of clearly distinguishable rights. It was also to allow people to claim their rights

A victim includes anyone directly affected by the actions or non actions of one of the above
public authorities. Whilst this directly affected principle is absolute, a victim can also include
someone not necessarily directly affected by the actions of a public body, but indirectly affected.
For instance, a person who is likely to be put under surveillance by the police will be able to call
upon the Human Rights Act, even though they have not yet had their privacy interfered with.
Where it is established that a Convention Right has been violated, the victim may be able to gain an
injunction to stop the violation, force the public authority to take action, take judicial review
proceedings or obtain damages and compensation.
The Human Rights Act affects the different types of legislation in a number of ways. Primary
legislation, which is Parliamentary Statute, the most sacred type of English law, has to be bought
into accordance with the Convention Rights. If primary legislation does not comply with the
Convention Rights then a Declaration of Incompatibility is issued. This can only be given by the
higher courts and allows the offending legislation to be changed and put inline with the Convention
Rights easily and quickly. If a statement is not issued, then the case proceeds to the European Court
of Human Rights.

Drug History And Policy Changes
Drug History and Policy Changes
There is a debate in the American government system on how to handle the use of drug and
alcohol. In the 1960s drugs were uprising along with youth rebellion and in 1971 Nixon declared
a War on Drugs (Citation a brief). This name is not to be confused with the band War on Drugs,
but the term is still popularly used to describe the policies that Government officials are making
regarding drugs and alcohol. This debate got reheated when Colorado legalized weed for medical
and recreational use, followed by several other states. There has slowly been a shift in mindset
from, alcoholics are drug addicts are all criminals and we (the law) should throw them in jail to
addiction is a disease. Even the way that addicts/alcoholics are treated has changed to treatment
centers with specialist versus throwing them in the hospital to detox and hoping for a change.
Policies that are shifting the penalty from incarceration to treatment reflect these changes and help
the individual suffering from the disease to get back on their feet. The war on drugs rings on, but
changes are being made.
War on Drugs
As I said early, President Nixon issued the War on Drugs. He started by placing marijuana in the
highest restrictive category of drugs, Schedule One, and ignored later attends to decriminalize
drugs. However, starting in 1973, eleven states decriminalized marijuana usage. Ronald Reagan
picked up where Nixon left off. Reagan s wife also started her own

Comparing Two Works Of Art That Featured The God Dionysos
I chose to compare and contrast two works of art that featured the god Dionysos. Dionysos was a
god of celebration and wine, promoting both the intoxicating power of wine and its social benefits
for bringing people together. He was an advocate of peace and a promoter of peaceful civilization.
Both The Hope Dionysos and the Triumph of Dionysos and the Seasons Sarcophagus represent why
Dionysos was such an important and celebrated figurein mythology, which is why I chose to
analyze two works of art that centered on him. My first impression of each piece was of
Dionysos as a peaceful, benevolent and joyful figure. I was struck by the calm peacefulness he
embodied in The Hope Dionysos and the happiness he shared on the Triumph of Dionysos and the
Seasons Sarcophagus. Though there are many elements to compare and contrast, my analysis will
show that both pieces are tributes and representations of Dionysos meaning and purpose in Roman
art. The Hope Dionysos, displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Greek and Roman Art
gallery, depicts Dionysos standing and leaning with one arm on a smaller female figure that is
believed to Spes, the personification of hope. He is shown without his usual attributes of a drinking
cup or a pinecone topped staff, and both the handat his side and the hand resting on Spes and
reaching out towards the viewer are empty. Spes, however, holds what appears to be a lotus flower
in her hand. This image, with the personification of hope, could have

What Makes People Do The Right Thing
The crash of a Brinks truck on a Miami overpass still raises disturbing questions. January 8, 1997
was just another crowded, rude and crazy day in Miami traffic until an armored Brinks truck
flipped and broke open, sending nearly a million dollars in cash swirling over the highway.
Hundreds of motorists screeched to a stop, grabbing whatever money they could. People in
nearby houses raced outside shouting and scooping up bills. When it was over, a handful of
people returned some of the money. Firefighter Manny Rodriguez turned in a huge bale of bills
worth $330,000, and one teenager returned some change. However, nearly half a million dollars
was missing stolen by everyday people like you and me. In the following days, some rationalized
the mass theft as a kind of Robin Hood action, because the truck had crashed in a poor area of
town. Most people claimed to be shocked. Now we are all left with hard questions: Why did only
a few people do the right thing ? Why did the majority do the wrong thing ? What causes people
to act honestly, even if no one is watching? What would you or I have done? ... Show more

The Lachman Test
The Lachman Test is an important diagnostic test for detection of Anterior Cruciate Ligament
(ACL) pathology (van Eck, 2013) and is frequently used by sports therapists. Joint arthrometry,
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and diagnostic arthroscopy are all well established methods to
evaluate the knee for the presence of an ACL tear. However, the clinical gold standard, with well
established levels of accuracy for detecting this injury, is the Lachman test, which is performed with
the patient in a supine position and the kneeat 20В° to 30В° of flexion (Benjaminse, 2006;
Ostrowski, 2006). The grading of the Lachman test is based on the amount of anterior translatory
movement (translation) of the tibia relative to the femur and on the end feel perceived by the
examiner. A positive test requires a soft end feel and observable translation of the tibia (Torg, 1976).

The patient s knee joint position during the Lachman s test might affect the grade given. Because
examiners do not agree on the position of the knee joint during the Lachman s test, reliability might
be affected if they do not place the knee in the same position each time they administer the test
(Donaldson 1985 ). Similarly, grading might be affected as experience of therapists differs from
each other. Hence, judgments based on the Lachman s test are inconsistent when made by
inexperienced testers, but such judgments become more reliable as testers become more
experienced (Dehaven, 1980; Noyes,

Schizophrenic Essay
Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder of the brain. Schizophrenia also has the most negative
stigma attached to it as well. People who view schizophrenia in a negative aspect, tend to think that
schizophrenic people are all violent and unpredictable (The Leap Institute, 2013). This is not always
accurate because schizophrenic symptoms vary in drastic ways. The common symptoms of
schizophreniaare hallucinations, hearing voices, paranoid thoughts, anosognosia (poor insight),
confusion, forgetfullness, unfocused, and isolation/withdraw from others. The more negative
symptoms are a decreased motivation, lack of energy, and lack of facial expressions (The Leap
Institute, 2013).
Comer (2015) explains that schizophrenia comes in many variations with similar features (Comer,
2015). People who suffer from schizophrenia may have symptoms that may worsen and cause them
to be disorganized and dishevelled. Other schizophrenic people may have their symptoms managed
and/or hidden and may seem normal. Schizophrenic symptoms are unwanted and do not go away
but can managed. Some sufferers do not have the resources, or are unaware of their condition and

Torture In The Elizabethan Era
Have you ever thought of what it would be like to live in the Elizabethan Era? Let me just say, it
may not be as fun as it seems. In the Elizabethan Era, crimes were punishable with grueling forms
of torture that killed or severely hurt thousands of criminals.
In the late 1500s and early 1600s, torture was a large part of everyday life and although torture was
not the only method, it was the most effective. Citizens of Europe in the Elizabethan Era, you would
most likely come across some very terrifying forms of torture. Prisons did exist, but the main form
of punishment used was torture (Science Museum). There was a prison in the Elizabethan Era, but
they were mostly used for holding people with small debts or holding people until their ... Show

Certain actions that threatened the social order were considered crimes, and the person that
completed that action needed to be punished (Elizabethan World Reference). If a citizen of
Europe practiced a certain kind of religion that Queen Elizabeth did not approve of, they were
burnt to the stake. Being burnt to death was one of the most painful deaths (Alchin). It took a
long time to completely die, so the criminal were still alive while being burnt (Alchin). If they
were lucky, they would suffocate from the smoke instead of having to live through being burnt
(Alchin). Another more serious crime, treason, was punishable by hanging (Harrison). If
someone were to betray their country, they would be hung (Harrison). This death took a matter
of seconds and was not as painful as being burnt. Many subjects would jump before time so that
their necks would break and they died very quickly (Harrison). Another form of torture was
boiling (Parry). It is as bad as it sounds. If a citizen of Europe poisoned someone, they were to be
boiled to death (Parry). This was another way to die that caused lots of pain. Even stealers were

Differences Between Monarchy and Democracy
Differences between Monarchy and Democracy
1. Democracy is a type of government that emanates from the constituted powers that are elected,
depending on the system (presidentialist, parliamentary, constitutional monarchy, semi
presidentialist, semi parliamentary, etc...) directly or indirectly by the people. Whereas in an
absolute monarchy, an absolutist regime exists and is in power because of family lineage.
2. In democracy three state powers(in most cases) exist as a checks and balances system, these
being the judicial, executive and legislative as it was enunciated in Montesquieu s Of the Spirit of
law. And they are independent, complementary and with no relation of subordination. Whereas in

America faces is terrorism. Polls from December 2 6 2015 show that terrorism was 16% of
Americans biggest concerns (Cook). This goes to show that terrorism is a problem not only for
the American people but the entire world. Countries can start by improving their homeland
security. After the United states was attacked on September 11, they did major adjustments to
Homeland Security, such as improving screening for passenger bags at airports. Advanced
passenger information and name record data to be able to find high value targets if they ever try

should improve on too, especially with many terrorists making fake passports and using those to
pass any airport. Also with German Chancellor Angela Merkel allowing refugees to come to
Europe, it should be a necessity to have strict policies on passports. With Germany being the
dominant country bringing refugees, mostly from Syria. That is why most countries who accept
refugees should enforce their passports policy and give the refugees special identification, this

The research Maclean put into retelling this catastrophe is remarkable and further enthralls the
reader as he unfolds the story through the perspective of people involved in the tragedy. Maclean
s intricate weaving of characters and their individual stories as well as the aftermath, the reports,
the trials, and the adversity all provide an aura of the real truth. The empathic reader also develops
his own saga as he views the tale through the eyes of the foreman Dodge, and the other two
survivors, Sallee and Rumsey.
Maclean, reconstructed the tragedy, much like coaches review the films of athletic competitions
that challenged their squads to the nth degree. Over and over, Maclean reviews each minute detail,
scouring them for something that might reveal a hint of an explanation or some resolution to help
reduce the terrible grief of such an untimely occurrence.
Although the young men died like squirrels in Mann Gulch, the Mann Gulch fire should not end
there, smoke drifting away and leaving terror without consolation of explanation, and controversy
without lasting settlement. Probably most catastrophes end this way without an ending, the dead
not even knowing how they died but still alertly erect in fear and wonder, those who loved them
forever questioning this unnecessary death, and the rest of us tiring of this inconsolable catastrophe
and turning to the next one.

The Takata Corporation Case
The Takada family founded Takata Corporation in 1933. Originally the firm manufactured
parachute static lines as well as other textiles. In the 60s Takata began to shift towards the
automobile safety industry by selling seat belts to car manufacturers. The corporation supplied the
first Japanese car manufacturer to have seat belts as part of the vehicle s standard design. Takata
found success in the new industry, which led the firm to expand into airbags as well as child safety
restraint systems. With its strategic decision to enter the automobile safety industry Takata was
reaping the benefits. The firm commanded a major portion of the airbagmarket, eventually
becoming one of the top three airbag manufacturers in the automotive industry. However, despite
the company s early contributions to automobile safety, recent events have tarnished the firm s
reputation. Takata has continually failed to address and correct a potentially fatal malfunction
within in its airbag design. Decisions, driven by a desire to reduce production costs, have forced the
company to abandon its corporate social responsibility, harming various stakeholders in the process.
It is unfortunate that the once respected firm has irreparably damaged its image. In an industry
where defects and mistakes by manufacturers can potentially kill consumers, public trust in the firm
is immensely important. Consumers need to know that a firm is committed to creating not only
economic value, but societal and

Living In Suburban Nation
In the communities I grew up in, there were frequent changing circumstances that actually left

has been significant points brought to the attention of the reader in this book that could attribute
to the failure and success of neighborhoods. In Suburban Nation, the opening pages give a lot of
insight on the issues that can come from these big and fancy, new housing developments.
Looking into the first relative community destroying idea, the reading focuses on how roads and
droning subdivisions can make it not worth living in these places. On the note of how roads
affect our community, it says that One s role in this environment is primarily as a motorist

Examples Of Emotional Appeals
Context
Every message an audience receives is composed of information which appeals to them on both
rational an emotional levels. Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of
Michigan, Ted Brader, states in his article published in Journal of Political Science that while
rational appeals rely on the relay of information so the audience can make utilitarian decisions,
emotional appeals motivate responses by making the audience feel a certain way. This paper sets
out to establish what has been understood regarding emotional appeals, and to critically evaluate
what has been proposed surrounding their use. Understanding emotional appeals is relevant,
especially in a post truth society, because these appeals have the power to influence ... Show more

There is something else to consider when examining emotional appeals, regardless of its
association, which is the rationality of the appeal itself. National Research Council in Italy member,
Miceli, and university professors Rosis and Poggi, argue in their paper for Applied Artificial
Intelligence that messages which appeal to emotions are not always irrational, while Panda, Mishra,
and Brader propose that irrational behaviour is best encouraged through emotional appeals.
Panda, Professor of Marketing, and Mishra, Doctoral Scholar at Ravenshaw University, find in their
contribution to The IUP Journal of Brand Management that companies whose advertisements
created emotional links with their audience through colour, music, and tonalities were far more
successful in garnering an audience willing to pay high premiums than those whose advertisements
focused on information, formatting rational appeals. Their research also shows that affective
buying behaviour (behavioural response to an affective advertising appeal) is not only less stressful
for consumers, but also that consumers required less information about their product before they
buy it. Panda and Mishra s work demonstrates that emotion has the potential to override the need
for information and rational decision making because when exposed to an affect laden advertising

Experts call him the best shortstop of our time. But is he really? What is he worth? Should you

statement. In so far a ten year career, he has hit 232 doubles, 24 triples, 193 homeruns, with an
outstanding 674 runs batted in (RBIs). With an overall batting average with a pleasant .297.
Just shy of that perfect .300. Also he is a five time all star. Including 2 Gold Gloves and 2 Silver

others players have done that in this history of the MLB. Honus Wagner is the best shortstop
ever. In ten years of his career he has Wagner hit 348 doubles in his first ten years, he hit 125
triples, hit 49 home runs, Honus had 923 RBIs, with an above perfect batting average of .345
but a sad 326 errors. Wagner never saw an all star game and never won an award. Tulo is a bit
under Honus Wagner but it was a different game. When Wagner played games went 22 innings
and they always played because only 10 people were on a team. But Troy is way above Honus in

manga I found most appealing, I began to focus on acquiring several volumes of a particular
series. For example, I now own all of the Banana Fish volumes that have so far been translated into

Currently, I am eager to acquire volumes of series such as Banana Fish, Paradise Kiss and Mars,

Management Information Systems ( Mis )
MIS in US: Top ranking universities with average GRE scores Management Information
Systems (MIS) has become a rapidly sought after specialization in the past few decades. But the
roots, of this specialization, are definitely not that new. Let s say, even Chitragupta, the god of
scribes, was practicing MIS while keeping track of the deeds of humans, you know, for purposes
of creating a database for good and bad karma. So, as you might have guessed already, MIS has
to do with managing information. Without good practices of record keeping and utilizing that
record, Chitragupta s ledger could have missed out on meting out fairly deserved karma
kickbacks. What has changed, since the mythological age to the Information age, is the way
information can be shared and manipulated. Since early 1900s, business owners were using
ledgers and punch cards to keep track of sales, data, finances, etc [1] until they were replaced by
computers, using less cumbersome, more efficient database systems. With the internet, sweeping us
of our feet, in the 90s, information realized a bigger, much easier, platform for getting shared.
Lately cloud sharing has made information immensely more mobile and accessible. Parallel to the

Crime Analysis Enhances Criminal Investigations
Even though there has been fluctuation in particular crime categories, overall crime in general has
decreased in Australia in recent years (Dearden Bricknell: 2008). It is due to this fluctuation in
particular crimes that the media continues to play a role in misrepresenting crime rates, creating
community fear and concerns regarding crimein this country (Kidd Hewitt: 2002). The flow on
effect is that it creates extra pressure on law enforcement agencies to try and bring crime under
control. Law enforcement agencies turn to criminal investigators who are the ones that analyse
crime information and provide guidance and advice to them. As with technology advancing, so is
the face of crimes, with crimes becoming more sophisticated, organised and global (Laycock: 2008).
With these advances in technology it creates more opportunities for offenders to commit crimes. It
is the goal of criminal investigators to reduce or eliminate these opportunities and thus reducing
crime. Just like offenders who take the opportunities to commit crime, criminal investigators take
the opportunity to use and apply their new knowledge to their working practices. Research suggests
that traditional policing methods (reactive, incident driven approach) are ineffective. If traditional
policing methods are ineffective, then investigators have to look for an alternative to effectively
deal with crime without using excessive imprisonment. Whilst in the past criminal investigators

Identifying And Applying The Relevant Law
Identifying and Applying the Relevant Law The relevant law to this scenario is cases that
concern unilateral error, misrepresentation and breach of contract. Unilateral error is applicable
when one party only is mistaken about one of the essentials. There has been an agreement but not
true agreement. This applies to the facts as Wilma has made a purely unilateral assumption that
she is contracting with a man named Tam Tumshie, when actually she is contracting with a look
alike named Septimus Meerkat. This could entail an error as to identity however that error may
not be essential. In the case of Morrison v. Robertson a man named Telford claimed to be the son

This case is similar as the contract has not been fulfilled (by payment) and for this reason
Septimus cannot pass on the title of the car to an unsuspecting third party. Misrepresentations
can be made by assertion. This includes impliedly, for example the case of Gamage v
Charlesworth s Trustees sets out that in order to buy goods on credit implies a representation of
ability to pay for them and of intention to do so. Septimus never had the intention of paying for
the car and nevertheless, tells Wilma that he would come back to pay. This is a pure lie which
he has tried to do several times in the past as a trickster, so I do think he deliberately
misrepresented himself here which misled her. In MacLeod v Kerr a crook named Galloway
posed as a third party by using a stolen check book to purchase a car. The court insisted the
contract was voidable, not void, as the error to identity was not essential because the pursuer was
not concerned as to who he was selling the car to, he was only concerned about the profit. Wilma
s error to identity may not be seen as essential as I think she would have contracted with anyone.
The only part Wilma s error affected was the process of the dealing giving the car to Septimus in
advance but she would have contracted with any person that was present and negotiating with her,
whoever it may be. As a result, I think the possible misrepresentation is incidental to the contract

Evaluation Of A Safety Management System Essay
AVN 1106 Major Assignment
Lincoln Wilkins
U1086146
Date of Submission 16/09/2016
Abstract:
With the expectation from CASA for newly established flight operations to design and implement
a Safety Management System (SMS) the task has been set to do so for an airline with 12 regional
aircraft and 200 employees. The aim of an SMS is to monitor and manage the overall safety
operations that occur within an airline. The use of an SMS has proven extremely successful as it
solidifies the communication between operators and management. An SMS consists of four (4) main
components: Safety assurance; Safety risk management; safety promotion; and safety policy. Each
of these components plays a major role in ensuring the safe operation of an airline.
Introduction:
With the aviation industry exponentially expanding it is essential to ensure that those safety
standards which are in place are working effectively. It is primarily the responsibility of the Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) to ensure that his or her airline is not only profitable but is also safe. The
balance between production and protection is a fine line and as such there need to be systems in
place to ensure production is not outweighing protection.
Airlines in the developed world endeavour to not only meet, but to exceed the expectations of the
standards set by regulatory bodies within the aviation industry. This can be done through the
implementation of an SMS as well as by revising and enhancing

Health And Safety Policies And Procedures
When we work with children, our career is likely to involve close working with other agencies.
Multi agency working is an effective way of supporting children and families with additional
needs. Multi agency working brings together practitioners from different areas and professions
within the workforce to provide integrated support to children and their families, for example a
team around the child . It is an effective way of supporting children with additional needs and
helping to secure real improvements in their life outcomes the way different professionals work
together in the early years to promote health and safety. You must evaluate the various strategies
that are used as well as the effectiveness of the health and safety policies and procedures. This
means to work hand in hand with different organisations, professional, colleagues, parent and
specialist whereby information sharing is being communicated to each other in order to
communicate assessment intervention, a follow up and that communication should be two ways.
This can be classed as different organisation working together to safeguard children and young
persons and most of these organisations are funded bodies and businesses .This also means that
we need to be established and abide with all the guidelines and to work within the law especially
when it regards with children and young person. Common barriers for integrated working and multi
agency working are not everyone will agree on things and different

Summary Of The Lottery By Shirley Jackson And The Ones...
Sacrifice for Peace It is safe to say to say that one person does not deserve harm for the
betterment of a society or a community. In the short stories, The Lottery by Shirley Jackson and
The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas by Ursula K. Le Guin, each display similarities when it
comes to sacrifice for better. Although each society believes in the practice, in the story The
Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas the citizens believes the practice of locking a little boy away
in a closest will benefit them to live happily and prosper. In The Lottery a town of people hold a
yearly assembly where a person of the communityis randomly chosen to be stoned for the hope of
more crops in the fall. Each of the stories display sacrificein their theme, as well as people in the
community who believe that the practice of sacrifice is wrong, and the belief that the benefits
for all come from pain and suffering of one single individual. In the story, The Lottery people in
the community practice sacrifice by going through a process of drawing names. In the story the
characters assemble in town square to draw names out of a black box that has been used for
decades. Their form of sacrifice has been a town ritual that everyone in the community has become
accustomed to for some time. When the day comes for the lottery all the citizens gathered in the
town square. Surprisingly, during the first drawing a well known man by the name of Bill
Hutchinson drew the slip to be sacrificed. Tessie, the

Example Of The Unsung Heros
Some people view a hero as a man that saves a child from a burning building, or a man that stops
the robber at the bank. Although they re not wrong a hero can be much more, most heros go
unheard of and are not rewarded. On the other hand some heros do get noticed for their courageous
acts and are rewarded with a medalor other objects that signified they have helped the world. The
heros I want to show you are some of the unsung heros that did great things. I define a hero as
being a self sacrificing, determined, and a brave ordinary person.
Ever seen a hero sacrifice himself for others, if so this is probably a hero like John roberts who
put his life on the line for the greater good. This section of hero usually results in the death of one
man to save many. This example from Listverse.com about 1st Lieutenant John Robert in WW2
shows just that. Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient and Prince look a like 1st Lieutenant
John Robert Fox was directing artillery fire in the Italian town of Sommocolonia to stall a
German advance. While Fox was directing fire, a large German force moved in on his
position.Realising that this force was a huge threat to his men, Fox called a final artillery strike
on himself. When his men eventually retook the position, Fox s body was found next to
approximately 100 dead German troops and a medal was placed neatly on his chest. This is truly
moving who knows if he didn t sacrifice himself it could have turned the tide for WW2.

Max Weber, The Study Of Human Society
One of the world s most difficult, but also most important, endeavors is to analyze and interpret
humans and their behaviors. How can we understand the complexities of humanity when there are
infinite factors involved in the mind of each person? Sociology, the study of human society, aims to
accomplish this task. Many intellectuals throughout the years have been essential to the formation
of sociology, including Auguste Comte, Harriet Martineau, Karl Marx, and Г‰mile Durkheim.
However, the work of Max Weber, one of the founders of sociology, aligns best with my personal
beliefs. Weber was born in Erfurt, Germany in 1864 and was raised during a time when Germany
was rapidly changing in response to the industrial revolution. He observed the rise of a new
economic system called capitalism, prompting his later theory analyzing its foundations. Weber
served in the military, studied law, worked as a professor, and published his ideas. His work laid
the foundations of interpretive sociology. Weber took an interesting approach to sociology by
focusing on the characteristics and thought processes of the individual rather than large amounts of
quantitative data. His sociological approach is based on the belief that each individual s actions are
shaped by their surroundings, rather than a set of universal laws that govern all of humanity. Weber
s convincing argument about the foundations of capitalism and his individualistic approach to
sociology align with my sociological beliefs.

Postpartum Depression (PPD)
Target Audience and Aim Postpartum depression (PPD) affects about eighty five percent of new
mothers and persists as long as a year after childbirth (Texas Medical Association, 2015). In spite
of the scope of this problem and the benefits of screening women, it s not standard procedure
(New York State Department Of Health, 2016). This policy brief was written for healthcare
providers that treat new mothers at risk for PPD with the goal of improving screening and the
number of women receiving appropriate treatment. The recommendations address measures to
improve early identification and follow up care for women found to have PPD. Problem About
eight to fifteen percent of childbearing women experience PPD during the first year after childbirth,

The Potential Factors Affecting The Environment
1.INTRODUCTION
Biodiversity term used for the variety and variability between all types of living organisms such
as microorganisms, plants and animals available in a particular area covered by natural
conditions. The term biological diversity first coined by Norse and Mc Mangus in 1980 (Rawat
and Khare, 2010). According to the U.S. Office of Technology Assessment (1987), biological
diversity is the variety and variability among living organisms and the ecological complexes in
which they occur. Biological diversity fabricates variability of gene, species and ecosystem
(P.D.Sharma, 2015). It is essential for maintain the basic process on which life depends and is a key
to sustainable development (Jerath and Chadha, 2006). The heterogeneity of the environment
increases the number of resources and results in a higher diversity. Agitation is one of the main
factors affecting variation in species (K. Premalatha, 2013).
1.1 Biodiversity of India India is one of the twelve mega biodiversity countries of the world. Each
of the ten bio geographic zones of the country has characteristic biota, and broadly represents
similar climatic conditions and constitutes the habitat for diverse species of flora and fauna.
Based on a survey of about two third of the geographical region of country, the Ministry of Forest

species representing about 7% of the world flora and 6.5% of the world fauna

Replicating bad behaviour:
The effects that field training officers have on police recruit behavior According to Sir Robert
Peel, the founding father of modern policing, The power of the police to fulfill their functions and

How Does Assimilation Affects Individual Identity
How many technological devices do you use daily? In this day and age, the list would probably
include smart phones, laptop computers, tablets, or more, but do you know where these devices
were made? Even if your device was assembled locally, there is a good chance that the parts
inside come from a collaboration of companies working together from all over the globe that are
part of the global supply chain. For the last few decades, more and more companies rely on
outsourcing, to produce their products and to provide services. Which in effect has globalized our
world, and depends on countries being able to collaborate and work together to provide the
products and services demanded by the customers at the end of the supply chain. As an... Show

Although this global supply chain and the flattening of the world is raising the standards of living
of the people in developing nations, one must contemplate what is also being stripped away from
these people in return for the increase in wealth. While assimilating to the customs and values of
the western world might seem necessary for these countries to be able to work together and
communicate, this assimilation affects individual identity as well as national identity. The
assimilation required by global supply chains strips countries, such as India, of their cultural
heritage and requires workers to Westernize and cover their true identities in order to work in the
jobs that will raise their standard of living. Therefore, despite the positive economic effects that
assimilation has on developing countries, the negative effects on culture and individuals the
stripping away of identity and self are points often overlooked and are damaging to the countries
and individuals that are stuck in limbo in between identities. When assimilation plays in
conjunction with The Dell Theory, it becomes a positive arrangement because countries involved
with the global supply chain are more hesitant to go to war with each other. The countries in the
supply chain are obligated to come to mutual understandings, in which they cooperate with each
other, regardless of their differences; otherwise, they risk losing their position in the supply chain.

Jimmy Valentine From A Retrieved Reformation
Why Jimmy Valentine from A Retrieved Reformation is a Good Character I argue that Jimmy
Valentine from A Retrieved Reformation is a good character. He is a good character for the
following reasons. Firstly, Jimmy gives money to a blind man. Secondly, Jimmy frees a little
girl from a safe. Finally, Ben Price does not prosecute Jimmy. Overall, Jimmy from A Retrieved
Reformation is anything but a villain. Jimmy gives money to a blind man. In the text, it states,
He gave some money to a blind man who sat there, asking for money, and then he got on the train
(Porter, 2). Rather than keeping this money, Jimmy gives it to a poor, blind man. This blind man
will likely never give anything back to Jimmy, yet Jimmy gives him some of his money anyway.
Because of this second kind act, Jimmy shows that he truly is good. If I were in that situation and
I were freed from jail for the first time in years, I would (unfortunately) not give any of my money
to the blind man. I would keep that money to spend on self indulgement.... Show more content on

the power to move. In a minute Jimmy was at work on the door. In ten minutes faster than he had

This paper will address and summarize four different points from the juvenile arrests bulletin from
2001. Such points included in the summary are the overall decrease in juvenile arrests, the increase
in drug offenses and simple assaults, implications for juvenile females and minorities, and last an
assessment of the tracking of juvenile arrests as a method of measuring the amount of and trends in

In 2001 the juvenile violent crime index arrest rate declined for the seventh consecutive year. The

classified as white. Black youth were overrepresented in juvenile arrests for violent crimes. All
juvenile arrests for violent crimes break down like this 55% involved white youth, 43% involved
black youth, 1% involved Asian youth, and 1% involved American Indian youth.
Assessment of tracking juvenile arrests and crime is important to know so the government

near their lowest levels since at least 1980 for both white and black youth. Between 1993 and
2001, murder rates for white juveniles declined 62% while the rate for black juveniles declined
79%. In 2001 the robbery arrests rates for both black youth and white youth were at a 20 year
low. The 2001 aggravated assault arrest rate for black juveniles was much closer to its 1980
level than was the rate for white juveniles. The juvenile arrest rates for weapons violations and
murder more than doubled between 1987 and the peak year 1993. After 1993 both rates fell
substantially the juvenile arrest rate for weapons law violations was cut in half falling 49% and
returning to the 1987 level. Between 1980 and 1993 the juvenile arrest rate for drug abuse
violations remained within a limited range. Between 1993 and 1997 however the rate grew 77% by

Economic Development Of Hong Kong
How can we situate colonialism within the broader globalization processes of industrialization and
deindustrialization in Hong Kong? Globalization is manifesting itself as a result of colonial
processes. The effects of Hong Kong s colonial history are still present as it is not its own
independent city state and currently has semi autonomous rule under mainland China. After giving a
brief history on colonial Hong Kong, I will be focusing on the Sino British Agreement of 1984 and
its subsequent effects on the city s decolonization process, including democratization, economic
development, and decolonization of the education system as compared to the predicted changes
under the agreement. Hong Kong (HK) began as a British colony in 1842 as a spoil of victory
from the Opium War (Chan Postiglione, p. 3). Its markets and ports were driven by regional trade
and their strategic location. Hong Kong has since then become a cosmopolitan city state of global
significance and serves as the gateway to trade with mainland China. Further, HK acts as a catalyst
for the economic development of southern China, where HK industries employ manufacturing
labour force workers in the neighboring Guangdong province. Hong Kong is therefore dependent
on China s own economic growth and modernization, however, its successful free trade and market
society are in contrast to its lack of a fully democratic form of government under British rule (Chan,
Postiglione, p. 3). Even after the Sino British

  • 2. How To Stop High School From Stifling Creativity Analysis Creativity is the base of human development. School s were first created to help their people to be skillful and mentally capable to endure all problems. Times have changed and the morals of education have altered as well. In today s world students from the U.S. are taught and pushed to memorize information instead of being pushed to learn how to think critically through it. Professor s should emphasize more on the importance of ingenuity, than the importance of getting a good grade. The beginning stages of person s life is when one is at their highest potential for developing creativity. Kyung Hee Kim, an educational psychologist, discovered that between the grades of kindergarten through sixth the creativity scores have dropped... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tristan de Frondeville, consultant for PBL associates, called the time that students spend dozing off in class as dead time . Dead time starts from one student and tends to spread because other classmates would get the impression that full participation is unnecessary. By not acting on the dead time , students reinforce the idea of memorization and cramming instead of understanding the information. Eliminating dead time , expands the valuable time classes have, puts both the student and the teacher s time to correct use, and helps students use each part of their brains to learn more skills. In the article, How to Keep Kids Engaged in Class , there are said to be four different levels that categorized the four different students. The first level is the highest level which make up the students who actively participate in class, but as well as out of class, the second level are the responsible students, the third level are the students who pass the class by doing the bare minimum, and the last level are the students who do everything to not have to put in any effort into the class. Activities other than lectures or straight memory drilling techniques will have the students from all levels engage in the class and even put in more effort to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Heron Therapeutic Analysis U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has finally approved the use of Heron Therapeutic, Inc. s long acting injection of Sustol to prevent Chemoterapy Induced Nausea and Vomiting (CINV). It becomes the first time the biotech company ever gained regulatory approval. FDA approves Sustol to help nausea and vomiting from Chemotherapy As reported by Tech Times, the approval was given on August 9, after twice rejected in a period of 6 years. According to Ralph Boccia, medical director of Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Sustol has proven to give longer acting prevention of CINV to cancer patients after chemotherapy. Here lies Sustol s superiority over other similar treatments. Approval given to Sustol includes using other agents combined in its use. It is a bit disappointing, though, that platinum based therapies are absent from the label, despite strong response Sustol shows in patients given this class of chemotherapy. The clinical trial populations and results for Sustol, according to Dr. Jeffrey Vacirca, CEO of North Shore Hematology Oncology Associates clinical research, are a good representation of cancer patients who participate in their real world clinical practice, according to Fierce Biotech. • 6. Untidy Bungalow Quotes Because her mother is obsessed with a craving for materialistic gratification, Mary, at the beginning of this book, acts like a materialist at a young age, which is embodied by her material interests and her indifference toward the world. In the second chapter, Burnett narrates, ...they wore shabby clothes and were always quarreling and snatching toys from each other. Mary hated their untidy bungalow... (9) The verb hated implies that Mary cannot even bear the shabby clothes or untidy bungalow . She is not able to be satisfied with life without maidservant, luxurious house or elegant clothes, either. Growing up alone in a world full of shallow materialism, Mary, like her mother, also has devotion to material needs and desires . In addition, Mary shows her indifference to the other people and the outside world, like Burnett emphasizes, as she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author uses the traumatic childhood of Mary, a young girl who is poisoned by materialism, to reveal the threat posed to the youthful spirit of a nation by the materialism of industrial progress (Thacker and Webb, 16). And Deborah Cogan Thacker and Jean Webb s another argument adds complexity to the analysis: [Burnett] does this by constructing the character and childhood experiences of Mary as negative projections against an idealized model of the Romantic child. (91) Indulging in the material comfort and living in her own world, Mary is initially the counter example of the Romantic child who is expected to have a quality of innocence, to be imaginative and playful, and also to display an intuitive relationship with nature (Thacker and Webb, 91). To sum up, on the first page of the story, Mary is both the personification and the victim of materialism; this fact not only supports Burnett s rejection of shallow materialism, but also lays the foundation of Mary s substantial shift the a Romantic child in the ... At heart, music acts are the channel for humans to express themselves and others. It is a platform in which people establish a sense of belonging. The reality can be seen and associated with the emergence of thousands of musical cultures that have evolved in Latin America. Examples of these include the slave who is recalling her ancestral spirits on a faraway continent, the local Aztec warrior who saw his ancient civilization crumble to dust, and the modern youth working hard to earn a living in modern urban ghettos. All these people were able to express themselves freely through their music. History of Latin America dancing Long before people came to know about rumba or salsa dance, the ancient people of both South and Central America were developing what is currently known as the Latin dance. These styles of dances were profoundly influenced by the European and the African modes of dancing in both the movements and the music used. The dances had the following characteristics/beginnings in the olden days; Ritualistic beginning As early as the 16th century, the explorers and sea goers like Vespucci who had traveled the globe came back home with stories of the natives who he had seen (Aztec and Inca). He was dazed with the way they were performing intricate dances. The Aztec had precise dances that were structured and performed. The young people in the society were trained in ... • 11. Characteristics Of Entrepreneurship Maki of Japan is a restaurant in Opry Mills Mall. In 2015, the business was not going so good. The food was not selling as it had to and this was not good for the company nor the employees. The owner, however was creative. This was his personal characteristic. As the entrepreneur himself, he slowly changed the menu around. He changed prices, plates, and added more food. He replaced things that didn t sell to new ones. Example be that he stopped selling cheese wantons to sell plantains that the customers seemed to like more. Gradually, the business started doing great again and this was a good sign. As the entrepreneur, he took control and found a way to fix the situation by his trait. Entrepreneur motivation can come from a person s life experience. Past jobs, a person s family business, or education is an example of this. Life experiences can motivate someone to open a business because the person has already experienced it and knows what they are doing. They have seen what it is the business will need in order to be successful. This is beneficial for the business because if the leader knows what they are providing for the customers, the business will go well. Previous jobs are a good example of life experiences that can motivate an entrepreneur. If someone has worked in a job that relates to the business they want to open, it gives that person an advantage in comparison to another that has not worked too and experienced what they did. For example, if a person has started ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Descriptive Essay About A Cat Show I went to the cat show hosted by the Santa Monica Cat Club on October 7, 2017 at the Pomona Fairplex. I always wanted to go to a cat show so I was curious about the one offered by the Santa Monica Cat Club. I did not know what to expect at all. I am used to seeing what dog shows look like on TV. The overall environment was relaxing and everyone was relatively calm. At the entrance, I was given a colorful pamphlet with the catbreeds that were participating in the show. I was surprised when I entered the building. There were so many cat breeds but the overall location felt pretty small probably because they do not need as much space as dogs. I went to every cat that was present in their cat carrier. Some of them were not there because they were being shown on stage. I wondered if they ever felt stressed being around so many people for long hours. They probably get used to it after competing at different shows. The breeders seemed pretty nice and they were willing to let me pet their cats and to tell me more about their breeds. There were so many cats I could not keep track of their names, awards, and breeds. The breeds that really stood out to me were the Toygers, Abyssinians, Sphynxs, Persians, and the American Shorthairs. At the time I did not know as many cat breeds, but I am happy that I learned some before going because it made the experience that more meaningful. Natalie Meloche elaborates on how she feels about spending countless hours at the studio perfecting her routines, Going to dance class is my favorite part of my day because I can always escape whatever is going on in my life and just let loose and dance. I also love to see my friends and teachers as well. In fact, three of the four girls I got answers from said they enjoyed going to class while the fourth had mixed feeling about it. Although for the majority of the girls, being in class was their favorite part. My favorite part was all of the team bonding that we did. Outside of the practice rooms, the team went to the movies together, painted pottery, played laser tag, and took trips to the cider mill. In the 1960s drugs were uprising along with youth rebellion and in 1971 Nixon declared a War on Drugs (Citation a brief). This name is not to be confused with the band War on Drugs, but the term is still popularly used to describe the policies that Government officials are making regarding drugs and alcohol. This debate got reheated when Colorado legalized weed for medical and recreational use, followed by several other states. Even the way that addicts/alcoholics are treated has changed to treatment centers with specialist versus throwing them in the hospital to detox and hoping for a change. Dionysos was a god of celebration and wine, promoting both the intoxicating power of wine and its social benefits for bringing people together. He was an advocate of peace and a promoter of peaceful civilization. Both The Hope Dionysos and the Triumph of Dionysos and the Seasons Sarcophagus represent why Dionysos was such an important and celebrated figurein mythology, which is why I chose to analyze two works of art that centered on him. My first impression of each piece was of Dionysos as a peaceful, benevolent and joyful figure. I was struck by the calm peacefulness he embodied in The Hope Dionysos and the happiness he shared on the Triumph of Dionysos and the Seasons Sarcophagus. Though there are many elements to compare and contrast, my analysis will show that both pieces are tributes and representations of Dionysos meaning and purpose in Roman art. The Hope Dionysos, displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Greek and Roman Art gallery, depicts Dionysos standing and leaning with one arm on a smaller female figure that is believed to Spes, the personification of hope. He is shown without his usual attributes of a drinking cup or a pinecone topped staff, and both the handat his side and the hand resting on Spes and reaching out towards the viewer are empty. Hundreds of motorists screeched to a stop, grabbing whatever money they could. People in nearby houses raced outside shouting and scooping up bills. Probably most catastrophes end this way without an ending, the dead not even knowing how they died but still alertly erect in fear and wonder, those who loved them forever questioning this unnecessary death, and the rest of us tiring of this inconsolable catastrophe and turning to the next one. • 29. The Takata Corporation Case The Takada family founded Takata Corporation in 1933. Originally the firm manufactured parachute static lines as well as other textiles. In the 60s Takata began to shift towards the automobile safety industry by selling seat belts to car manufacturers. The corporation supplied the first Japanese car manufacturer to have seat belts as part of the vehicle s standard design. Takata found success in the new industry, which led the firm to expand into airbags as well as child safety restraint systems. With its strategic decision to enter the automobile safety industry Takata was reaping the benefits. The firm commanded a major portion of the airbagmarket, eventually becoming one of the top three airbag manufacturers in the automotive industry. However, despite the company s early contributions to automobile safety, recent events have tarnished the firm s reputation. Takata has continually failed to address and correct a potentially fatal malfunction within in its airbag design. Decisions, driven by a desire to reduce production costs, have forced the company to abandon its corporate social responsibility, harming various stakeholders in the process. It is unfortunate that the once respected firm has irreparably damaged its image. In an industry where defects and mistakes by manufacturers can potentially kill consumers, public trust in the firm is immensely important. From dingy, cheap and tiny places for rent, there has been significant points brought to the attention of the reader in this book that could attribute to the failure and success of neighborhoods. In Suburban Nation, the opening pages give a lot of insight on the issues that can come from these big and fancy, new housing developments. Looking into the first relative community destroying idea, the reading focuses on how roads and droning subdivisions can make it not worth living in these places. • 31. The Ptarmigans In The Lesser Blessed By Richard Van Camp others from Mick and Jimmy, Lisa fully leaves the spirit world. Once she leaves, the crows leave her. She says, Somewhere above my head, a raven grumbles as it hops between the branches of the tightly packed trees. The crows have disappeared (Robinson 374). Lisa has heard all the messages that she needed to hear from the spiritworld and thus the crows disappear. In The Lesser Blessed, by Richard Van Camp, ptarmigans are symbols of the main character s spiritual state. The ptarmigans appear at the end of the book when Larry, the main character, is experiencing emotional turmoil. Larry is a Dogrib teen who has a troubled past and begins to befriend other teens with troubled pasts. Larry is shy and rarely shares his past and demons with others. Thus, at the very end of The Lesser Blessed, Larry has a lot to process and the birds are used by Van Camp to express Larry s spiritual state. In one of the final scenes, Larry his friend Darcy are riding on a snowmobile when they ... scared two ptarmigans that were sleeping in the snow. People say the best way person to full these jobs is Troy Tulowitzki. Experts call him the best shortstop of our time. But is he really? What is he worth? Should you trade for him? Is Tulo really the best shortstop of our time? Let s take a close look at this statement. In so far a ten year career, he has hit 232 doubles, 24 triples, 193 homeruns, with an outstanding 674 runs batted in (RBIs). With an overall batting average with a pleasant .297. Just shy of that perfect .300. Also he is a five time all star. Including 2 Gold Gloves and 2 Silver Sluggers. Lastly Tulo as committed 74 errors in 10 years with an unassisted triple play only 8 others players have done that in this history of the MLB. Honus Wagner is the best shortstop ever. In ten years of his career he has Wagner hit 348 doubles in his first ten years, he hit 125 triples, hit 49 home runs, Honus had 923 RBIs, with an above perfect batting average of .345 but a sad 326 errors. Wagner never saw an all star game and never won an award. Tulo is a bit under Honus Wagner but it was a different game. When Wagner played games went 22 innings and they always played because only 10 people were on a team. But Troy is way above Honus in defense. Management Information Systems ( Mis ) MIS in US: Top ranking universities with average GRE scores Management Information Systems (MIS) has become a rapidly sought after specialization in the past few decades. But the roots, of this specialization, are definitely not that new. Let s say, even Chitragupta, the god of scribes, was practicing MIS while keeping track of the deeds of humans, you know, for purposes of creating a database for good and bad karma. So, as you might have guessed already, MIS has to do with managing information. Without good practices of record keeping and utilizing that record, Chitragupta s ledger could have missed out on meting out fairly deserved karma kickbacks. What has changed, since the mythological age to the Information age, is the way information can be shared and manipulated. Since early 1900s, business owners were using ledgers and punch cards to keep track of sales, data, finances, etc [1] until they were replaced by computers, using less cumbersome, more efficient database systems. With the internet, sweeping us of our feet, in the 90s, information realized a bigger, much easier, platform for getting shared. • 37. Crime Analysis Enhances Criminal Investigations Even though there has been fluctuation in particular crime categories, overall crime in general has decreased in Australia in recent years (Dearden Bricknell: 2008). It is due to this fluctuation in particular crimes that the media continues to play a role in misrepresenting crime rates, creating community fear and concerns regarding crimein this country (Kidd Hewitt: 2002). The flow on effect is that it creates extra pressure on law enforcement agencies to try and bring crime under control. Law enforcement agencies turn to criminal investigators who are the ones that analyse crime information and provide guidance and advice to them. As with technology advancing, so is the face of crimes, with crimes becoming more sophisticated, organised and global (Laycock: 2008). With these advances in technology it creates more opportunities for offenders to commit crimes. It is the goal of criminal investigators to reduce or eliminate these opportunities and thus reducing crime. Just like offenders who take the opportunities to commit crime, criminal investigators take the opportunity to use and apply their new knowledge to their working practices. Research suggests that traditional policing methods (reactive, incident driven approach) are ineffective. If traditional policing methods are ineffective, then investigators have to look for an alternative to effectively deal with crime without using excessive imprisonment. Identifying And Applying The Relevant Law Identifying and Applying the Relevant Law The relevant law to this scenario is cases that concern unilateral error, misrepresentation and breach of contract. Unilateral error is applicable when one party only is mistaken about one of the essentials. There has been an agreement but not true agreement. This applies to the facts as Wilma has made a purely unilateral assumption that she is contracting with a man named Tam Tumshie, when actually she is contracting with a look alike named Septimus Meerkat. This could entail an error as to identity however that error may not be essential. In the case of Morrison v. Robertson a man named Telford claimed to be the son of a reputable farmer. This case is similar as the contract has not been fulfilled (by payment) and for this reason Septimus cannot pass on the title of the car to an unsuspecting third party. Misrepresentations can be made by assertion. This includes impliedly, for example the case of Gamage v Charlesworth s Trustees sets out that in order to buy goods on credit implies a representation of ability to pay for them and of intention to do so. Septimus never had the intention of paying for the car and nevertheless, tells Wilma that he would come back to pay. This is a pure lie which he has tried to do several times in the past as a trickster, so I do think he deliberately misrepresented himself here which misled her. In MacLeod v Kerr a crook named Galloway posed as a third party by using a stolen check book to purchase a car. The court insisted the contract was voidable, not void, as the error to identity was not essential because the pursuer was not concerned as to who he was selling the car to, he was only concerned about the profit. Wilma s error to identity may not be seen as essential as I think she would have contracted with anyone. The only part Wilma s error affected was the process of the dealing giving the car to Septimus in advance but she would have contracted with any person that was present and negotiating with her, whoever it may be. As a result, I think the possible misrepresentation is incidental to the contract and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Evaluation Of A Safety Management System Essay AVN 1106 Major Assignment Lincoln Wilkins U1086146 Date of Submission 16/09/2016 Abstract: With the expectation from CASA for newly established flight operations to design and implement a Safety Management System (SMS) the task has been set to do so for an airline with 12 regional aircraft and 200 employees. The aim of an SMS is to monitor and manage the overall safety operations that occur within an airline. The use of an SMS has proven extremely successful as it solidifies the communication between operators and management. An SMS consists of four (4) main components: Safety assurance; Safety risk management; safety promotion; and safety policy. Each of these components plays a major role in ensuring the safe operation of an airline. Introduction: With the aviation industry exponentially expanding it is essential to ensure that those safety standards which are in place are working effectively. It is primarily the responsibility of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to ensure that his or her airline is not only profitable but is also safe. The balance between production and protection is a fine line and as such there need to be systems in place to ensure production is not outweighing protection. Airlines in the developed world endeavour to not only meet, but to exceed the expectations of the standards set by regulatory bodies within the aviation industry. This can be done through the implementation of an SMS as well as by revising and enhancing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How can we understand the complexities of humanity when there are infinite factors involved in the mind of each person? Sociology, the study of human society, aims to accomplish this task. Many intellectuals throughout the years have been essential to the formation of sociology, including Auguste Comte, Harriet Martineau, Karl Marx, and Г‰mile Durkheim. However, the work of Max Weber, one of the founders of sociology, aligns best with my personal beliefs. Weber was born in Erfurt, Germany in 1864 and was raised during a time when Germany was rapidly changing in response to the industrial revolution. He observed the rise of a new economic system called capitalism, prompting his later theory analyzing its foundations. Weber served in the military, studied law, worked as a professor, and published his ideas. His work laid the foundations of interpretive sociology. Weber took an interesting approach to sociology by focusing on the characteristics and thought processes of the individual rather than large amounts of quantitative data. His sociological approach is based on the belief that each individual s actions are shaped by their surroundings, rather than a set of universal laws that govern all of humanity. Weber s convincing argument about the foundations of capitalism and his individualistic approach to sociology align with my sociological beliefs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, despite the positive economic effects that assimilation has on developing countries, the negative effects on culture and individuals the stripping away of identity and self are points often overlooked and are damaging to the countries and individuals that are stuck in limbo in between identities. • 50. Jimmy Valentine From A Retrieved Reformation Why Jimmy Valentine from A Retrieved Reformation is a Good Character I argue that Jimmy Valentine from A Retrieved Reformation is a good character. He is a good character for the following reasons. Firstly, Jimmy gives money to a blind man. Secondly, Jimmy frees a little girl from a safe. Finally, Ben Price does not prosecute Jimmy. Overall, Jimmy from A Retrieved Reformation is anything but a villain. Jimmy gives money to a blind man. In the text, it states, He gave some money to a blind man who sat there, asking for money, and then he got on the train (Porter, 2). Rather than keeping this money, Jimmy gives it to a poor, blind man. This blind man will likely never give anything back to Jimmy, yet Jimmy gives him some of his money anyway. Because of this second kind act, Jimmy shows that he truly is good. If I were in that situation and I were freed from jail for the first time in years, I would (unfortunately) not give any of my money to the blind man. I would keep that money to spend on self indulgement.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He passes the ultimate test of bravery, skill, and empathy, overseen by Ben Price. Spencer passed away and Jimmy Valentine took his place. Stand away from the door, all of you, he commanded. He put his bag on the table, and opened it flat. From that time on, he seemed not to know that anyone else was near. Quickly he laid the shining strange tools on the table. The others watched as if they had lost the power to move. In a minute Jimmy was at work on the door. In ten minutes faster than he had ever done it before he had the door open (Porter, 7 8). This heroic act shows that Jimmy has an excellent mix of bravery and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. Economic Development Of Hong Kong How can we situate colonialism within the broader globalization processes of industrialization and deindustrialization in Hong Kong? Globalization is manifesting itself as a result of colonial processes. The effects of Hong Kong s colonial history are still present as it is not its own independent city state and currently has semi autonomous rule under mainland China. After giving a brief history on colonial Hong Kong, I will be focusing on the Sino British Agreement of 1984 and its subsequent effects on the city s decolonization process, including democratization, economic development, and decolonization of the education system as compared to the predicted changes under the agreement. Hong Kong (HK) began as a British colony in 1842 as a spoil of victory from the Opium War (Chan Postiglione, p. 3). Its markets and ports were driven by regional trade and their strategic location. Hong Kong has since then become a cosmopolitan city state of global significance and serves as the gateway to trade with mainland China. Further, HK acts as a catalyst for the economic development of southern China, where HK industries employ manufacturing labour force workers in the neighboring Guangdong province. Hong Kong is therefore dependent on China s own economic growth and modernization, however, its successful free trade and market society are in contrast to its lack of a fully democratic form of government under British rule (Chan, Postiglione, p. 3). Even after the Sino British ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
