Life Insurance Essay
The Life Insurance Corporation of India made its bow on the national stage on 1st September, 1956.
And today, after 58 years, with sense of fulfillment and calm confidence, it steps into the sixth decade
of its progress, expansion and continuation of myriad services to the nation, as the premier public
sector financial institution of the country. The main objectives of Life Insurance Corporation of India
are as follows: (i) To spread life insurance much more widely and in particular to the rural areas and to
the socially and economically backward classes with a view to reaching all insurable persons in the
country and providing them adequate financial cover against death at a reasonable cost. (ii) To
maximize mobilization of people‟s savings by making insurance linked savings adequately attractive.
(iii) To bear in mind, is the investment of funds, the primary obligation to its policy holders, whose
money it holds in trust, without losing sight of the interest of the community as a whole, the funds to
be deployed to the best advantage of the investors as well as the community as a whole, keeping in

Plane Crash Lab Report
During investigating this plane crash, the materials found at the site were: carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen,
and oxygen. In order to identify the victims and what happened, I used empirical and molecular
formulas. Empirical formula is a formula with the lowest whole number ratio of elements present in a
compound. Molecular formula indicates the actual number of atoms of each element presented in a
compound. First, I calculated the empirical formula by using the percentages of the compound
analysis for each passenger. I calculated this by turning an element s percentage into a number out of
one hundred and then multiplying it by the molar mass to get the number of mols in each element.
After, I divided all elements by the lowest number in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The chemical analysis of 75.42% carbon, 6.63% hydrogen, 8.38% nitrogen, and 9.57% oxygen leads
to an empirical formula of C21H22N2O2 [see binder paper for work]. C21H22N2O2 has a mass of
334.45 g, which matches with the molar mass of the molecular formula. Base on this similarity and
the description, I can conclude that this substance is Strychnine. Strychnine is a rat poison that is
highly toxic to humans. When looking for the passenger carrying poison, I looked for a person who
shows resentment towards someone else on the plane. Both Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez carried
this substance with them and also happen to be enemies. Friends and family from the interview stated
that Selena Gomez is in a long and intense feud with Miley Cyrus. However, according to her Twitter,
Selena knew that Miley would be on the same flight. In addition, she also sent a text message before
the flight saying: I h8 this grl. Its about 2 b over. This text message and the evidences on Twitter
reveals that Selena had brought this rat poison with the intention of murdering Miley Cyrus her most
hated enemy. The intention of a planned murder is also shown through the fact that this compound was
found in Selena s pocket. In all, I conclude that Selena Gomez is the

American Spirits Were Exceptionally High At The End Of The...
American spirits were exceptionally high at the end of the War of 1812 which brought about a defeat
of the British once again. In the years that followed the War, a sense of national unity materialized
throughout the country as a One Party System grew out of James Monroe s presidency with the
disappearance of the Federalists. The Columbian Centinel proclaimed that this time period after the
War of 1812 was an Era of Good Feelings , a phrase applied to Monroe s presidency ever since. But
contradictory to this label, this time period in American history was actually turbulent, for
sectionalism propagated and a nationwide panic heightened. Therefore, with emerging sectionalism in
subsequent events that followed the War of 1812, the time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During his presidency, Monroe supported the American System in which the government supported
economic growth and protective measures for domestic manufacturers from foreign competition.
Unfortunately, not everyone favored the American System. In the South especially, Southerners
opposed such a protective tariff for it only supported Northern manufactures, while hurting the
Southern economy at the same time. The South, primarily agricultural with a large exporting
economy, had to import all of its goods having to pay up to ⅓ it s price in tax in order to comply with
the American System. John Randolph, a Southerner, expressed his grievances to Congress hoping to
alleviate the struggles of the South by saying, no one interest in the country should be sacrificed by the
management of taxation to another... the agriculturalists bear the whole front of the war and taxation
(Document A). In saying this Randolph not only questioned Congress s intentions of collecting
revenue and favoring the North, but also its job to regulate commerce, not taxes. The American
System clearly drove a wedge between Northern and Southern interests.
The institution of chartering a Second National Bank also stimulated many controversies. Once again,
the Bank, an element of the American System created to strengthen national currency, placed
commercial interests of the North over farmers and agriculturalists of the South. In the

Feline Herpes Research Paper
What is Feline Herpesvirus Infection in Cats?
Feline herpesvirus is a highly contagious virus that causes feline viral rhinotracheitis. Feline viral
rhinotracheitis is an acute upper respiratory infection that is one of the most common infections in
cats. Feline herpesvirus is also associated with several less common diseases, which include keratitis
and feline herpesvirus associated dermatitis. After recovery, feline herpesvirus typically becomes
latent though it stays with the cat for the remainder of his or her life. The virus may become
reactivated due to stress or corticosteroid treatment, allowing it to be passed onto other cats.
Feline herpesvirus is found around the world in both domesticated and wild cats. Cats of all ages can
become infected with the virus though it poses the greatest risk for young kittens and for pregnant
cats. Persistent feline viral rhinotracheitis has been found to be a risk factor in the development of
ocular problems.
Symptoms of Feline Herpesvirus Infection in Cats
Symptoms are typically strong during the initial infection and may recur in a lessened form if the
latent virus becomes reactivated.

feline herpesvirus from being spread. Proper nutrition will help the cat to recover from the infection

from becoming fatal. Young kittens in the home can receive a vaccination to prevent the virus. This
vaccine is typically given at nine and 12 weeks of age, with yearly boosters being administered to cats

For example, the designers of an online music system may specify policies that describe how users
can access and copy songs. Permissions, which describe the behaviors that are allowed by the agents
that interact with a person or system. For instance, an online music store may provide permissions for
limited access and copying to people who have purchased certain songs. Protections, which describe
mechanisms put in place to enforce permissions and polices. We could imagine that an online music
store would build in protections to prevent people from unauthorized access and copying of its songs.

Greece And Persia Geography Analysis
Multicultural Empires
Jasmyne Cartagena
Western Governors University
Part A1: Greece and Persia Geography Greece had many geographical features such as mountains and
rocky soils, but the Mediterranean Sea was the most important. The people of Greece didn t have
agriculture friendly land, so they relied on maritime trade. Not being able to grow staple foods such as
wheat, left them struggling to provide an adequate amount of food. Thankfully, the rocky soils were
idea for growing olives and grapes. Having these two major crops gave them a bartering tool. By
sailing the Mediterranean Sea, they were able to travel to different countries to obtain the goods they
needed or desired by offering theirs. These new trading opportunities solved the food problem and
made Greece dominate what would become the most contested body of water. (Acrobatiq, 2017).
Mountains, the Persian Gulf and arid climate make up Persia, but Persia wouldn t be the same without
their fertile soil. The fertile soil provided the ideal situation to grow an abundance of crops. They were
able to provide a range of food including wheat, mustard, pomegranates and so many more. With so
many crops to care for they needed efficiency and ended up using iron tools and building irrigation
systems. The development around crops and the surplus of food led to population growth and
elements of civilization. It is safe to say that the development and people of Persia would not have
been the same without their fertile

Finding Truth In Walt Whitman s Song Of Myself
The Romantic Period was a time very different from that of the previous movement, the
Enlightenment. It was a time for creativity and it was a time of unity in nature and within themselves.
During the Enlightenment, science and reason prevailed. Everything had set rules on how it should be
and how people should act in their private and public lives. Truth was static and never changing until
the Romantic Movement. Truth changed and was based on an individual s experience. Whereas during
the Romantic period. Transcendentalists were people found during this time who, according to A
Handbook to Literature, believed in finding truth within oneself where individuals could hear the
voice of God. They believed each person should find his or her own path to walk with God instead of
relying on an institution. This differed from the ideals of the Enlightenment in that during the
Enlightenment, some believed that science was all the God one needed. Science was the place truth
and knowledge was found, and there was no place in science for God. Dionysus, the god of wine,
fertility, and music is found throughout the works of Romantic authors and is seen as an opposition to
reason from the Enlightenment.

Theodore Roosevelt s Role Model
Rumaysa Sharif
11/03/17
President Theodore Roosevelt is one of the most widely respected and popular figures in history. From
his childhood to adulthood, he is an example of great courage, strength, perseverance and success. He
once said, The only man who never makes mistakes is a man who never does anything. Despite
having a very weak body as a child, he never gave up on himself nor his dreams. He was quite the role
model for civilians during his time and even today. As the only president from New York City, his
childhood home is in downtown Manhattan. It is obvious that he lead a very wealthy life with a loving
family. His parents were very supportive and raised their children in an intellectually stimulating

The ornaments of the parlor which include the glass chandelier is decorated with a great quantity of
cut glass prisms. Growing up, Theodore was a very sickly child. He had a severe case of asthma and
would become weak very easily. His father said You have the mind, but not the body. Without the
health of the body, the mind cannot go as far as it should. You must make your body. Theodore replied
I will make my body! without any hesitation. Thus his father installed a gym on the second floor of
their home. He also took up boxing and became very strong and physically active. He served in the
Civil War, became an author, historian, explorer, statesman and conservationist. Theodore Roosevelt s
father, Franklin Roosevelt, was part of the Union and his mother, Martha Bulloch, was a Confederate.
However, his father did not want to serve in the war because it meant he would have to shoot his wife
s two brothers who were Confederate generals. Therefore, he did what many wealthy men did during
that time, and paid two men to take his place. Even though Theodore Roosevelt looked up to his
father, this impacted him in a very negative way. Some historians even analyzed that his father buying
men to take his place is what influenced him to becoming a soldier and gave him the determination to
prove that he was a good one. As a young child, Theodore and his family went on a lot of trips to
foreign countries. Exploring these countries had a huge

Apollonian Influences
In the book The Birth of Tragedy, Neitchez identifies two ways of thinking that present themselves in
art. The first is Dionysian which is intoxication, instinctual, intuitive, pertaining to the sensation of
pleasure or pain, ending of all boundaries, excess, and second Apollonian, which is the dream state,
exhaustion of possibilities, creation, separation from the chaos of life. The one element of Hip Hop
with both Dionysian and Apollonian influences is Emcee which is the conveyer of the message, the
artist. The Apollonian influence is the thought, the inspiration. When the artist has a great idea come to

Parenting Producing Helicopter Parents And Tiger Moms

Look out above.
Regardless of who you are or where you come from there s one instrumental factor we all share. We
all were raised by a parent, parents, or guardian that was key in who we became. While like many
things Americans cannot seem to agree on which stratagem is best in child rearing it is indelible that
the common goal of every parent is for their son or daughter to succeed and find happiness in life.
However, this has given rise to some extreme forms of parenting producing helicopter parents and
tiger moms; Parents that feel the need to control every aspect of their child s life to either keep them
safe or make them the best when compared to others. In the end everyone wants to be a good parent,
but helicopter parents and other groups like them are, in the long term, hindering more than helping
their child towards a successful future.
In the past 25 years alone parenting has been making a major shift according to marriage therapist
John Becker the general goals of parenting haven t see too much variance over the years but the focus
and outcomes have (Morman). Even looking back on my own childhood and that of some of the kids I
work with, sometimes an age gap as small as four years between us, the effects of different parenting
methods is evident. We always ate dinner together at roughly the same time and everyone ate the same
thing, dinner served as a time to catch up on the days events as a family; A sentiment of

Jewelry Has A Strong Case Against Jennifer Lawson
Memo Introduction
In paper, Greene s Jewelry has a strong case against Jennifer Lawson because Jennifer breached the
confidentiality agreements that she signed with Greene s Jewelry. In the agreement, it specifically
indicated that Jennifer could never disclose any information regarding Ever Gold creating process,
which is patented and owned by Greene s Jewelry. Jennifer not only stole a draft letter that contains
the details of creating Ever Gold but also took it to Greene s competitor Howell Jewelry World in
order to obtain a job offer from the company. The employment contract that Jennifer signed with
Howell is a certain evidence of her unjust enrichment. Regarding Jennifer Lawson s claim that she
encountered wrongful termination at Greene s, it is simply a misinterpretation of Greene s legitimate
reduction in force. The company no longer had a need for any junior executive secretaries. The
downsizing was unfortunately but legal.
Facts and Laws
Jennifer alleges that she was terminated because of her pregnancy. She neglects the fact that Greene s
discharged her because her position, junior executive secretary, is redundant to the company. It is
transparently that Jennifer is a member of protected class and was dismissed. Yet Greene s did not
violate The Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA) under Title VII. According to Title VII 42 U.S.C. §
2000e 2(a), it is an unlawful employment practice if an employer discharges any individual because of
such individual s race,

Contrast Sensitivity Function
SPA Lab 4: CONTRAST SENSITIVITY FUNCTION
Ciara Dubose
University of Central Oklahoma
Abstract
The purpose for this experiment is to determine at which spatial frequency does a participant s visual
acuity for a contrast sensitivity function display a peak performance across different sine wave
gratings. The ability to contrast sensitivity is useful in everyday life, more than people imagine. These
contrast sensitivity functions focus primarily on the participants ability to detect accurately the
presence of a sine wave grating across different levels of contrast. The one way repeated participants
design indicated there was a reliable effect of spatial frequency on contrast sensitivity. The
conclusions of this experiment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Participants seeking to measure the contrast sensitivity over differing spatial frequencies used the
instructions as a guide to perform this experiment. The experiment implored the use of a computer to
display the screen images necessary to test the ability of participants contrast sensitivity. The standard
computer keyboard was necessary to allow the participants to indicate the order that the target
stimulus is present. This particular experiment used a random order showing the target stimulus in
different orders to allow the participant the ability to test their contrast sensitivity to the differing
spatial frequencies.
Design
This experiment used a one way within participants design. The independent variable for this
experiment is the differing factors of the spatial frequencies. The first condition in the experiment used
a spatial frequency with a sine wave grating of four; the second condition used a spatial frequency
with a sine wave grating of eight; the third condition used 16; the fourth condition used 32; the last
condition used 64. The dependent variable for this experiment that measured the participants visual
acuity is contrast sensitivity. This experiment measured the contrast thresholds for differing sine wave
gratings among participants and compared them across the five factors of the independent variable.
Procedure
The participants asked to perform a task involving the ability to determine the presence of a

A Scandal In Bohemia
Introduction:
The story pulled from The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes published 1892 by Arthur Conan Doyle.
Tells the story of Sherlock Holmes, a detective capable of solving even the hardest of mysteries. In A
Scandal in Bohemia Holmes helps the King in retrieving an item from a previous relationship he had
that ended unpleasantly. Although this was a mystery detective story, it was much more than that.
Doyle hid within the text underlying problems during his time to help realize the faults in society.
Summary:
A Scandal in Bohemia tells the story of Sherlock Holmes, the greatest detective of his time solves the

A Scandal in Bohemia takes the stance on showing the distinction between social class and the way
women were treated. Social class was a problem and still is to this day. The separation of the rich and
poor detached the people and left them in two separate worlds. The story intermingles the King of
Bohemia with a middle class woman named Irene Adler. This affair turned bad when he left her for a
Scandinavian princess, so he wouldn t be shunned for marrying a woman of lower class. Even with
him loving her, all because she was of middle class he would and could not see a future with her. But
the other problem lies with the treatment of women. The viewing down on them because of their
gender bias. Now in our time, we can see the big change in how women were treated, but during the
time Sherlock Holmes was written, this was relevant in his stories. We see this scattered in the story as
Irene Adler, the female protagonist is viewed as less to the characters but is proven as the best plans of
Mr. Sherlock Holmes were beaten by a woman s wit. (Doyle 13) It s obvious to include this story as
an outlet to show the wrongdoings of his time. For this, it allows readers to see what s erroneous and
know what is happening around them. This is the reason this story is more developed than just a

The Changes in the Carpentry Industry The carpentry industry has changed drastically through time,
and this is because of all the developments that have happened. The main change is technology. The

industry. Different methods of completing projects have played a big role in changes. Carpenters have

The workers then have to redo the project. This takes up a lot of time. Now the workers are behind and
might not finish in time. New workers also slow down the process. The contractors have to take the
time to train the new workers. They also have a tendency to make more mistakes. Since the new
workers have little experience, they are slower and usually are the ones to make most of the mistakes.
This is why contractors prefer people with experience over new workers. The only problem is that
people with experience want to get paid more. Good communication is always important to have for
better productivity. It is very important so that the workers know what they are doing and how they are
going to do it. Planning everything out before will create fewer problems, and the work will be more
productive.
Tools have changed the face of carpentry forever. Newer tools have shortened the time of work, the
quality of the finished products, and the depth of this project. Power tools have made a big
contribution to these tools such as levels, plans, and crosscut saws. They do the work in less time and
are now more accurate (Britannica). Specific tools that have helped are lasers and GPS. Their main
use is for setting up the building corners and building perimeters. Before lasers and GPS was
available, workers used to do all of this work using string and tape measures (Craig). Now the work is
done far more accurately the first time. It has reduced the amount of time spent at

Huckleberry Finn Literary Techniques
In the year 1884, American author and humorist Mark Twain published The Adventures of

was very successful. Its success can be attributed to Mark Twain s appealing writing style and tasteful
use of literary techniques. The most prominent techniques used in this classic novel include diction,
language, irony, imagery, as well as tone.
In the novel, Mark Twain uses diction and language to achieve more authentic characters. The

Electromagnetic Tracking Research Paper
The implementation of electromagnetic tracking (EM) to verify nasogastric tube placement is a new
concept that can provide better and safer patient care. Many people die of improper placement of
nasogastric tube each year. The misplacement of these tubes, if not verified correctly, can cause severe
injury to the patient or even death. Fundamentals of Nursing, believe that X ray is the best way to
verify placement (Potter, Perry, Stockert, Hall, 2013). In the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics
and the British Journal of Nursing they both find that Electromagnetic tracking is the safest way. It is
important to check for verification because this type of harm is preventable. New evidence based
practice states that the use of electromagnetic tracking is safer versus the use of pH, X ray, and CT

It is so crucial to confirm the tube placement because of possible harm that can be done to the patient.
About 1.9% of feeding tubes are misplaced every year. This can lead to pneumothorax in 1 in every 5
patients and dead in 1 in 39 patients (Taylor S. et al., 2014). Using X ray to confirm placement would
be too late to prevent lung trauma. PH is done also but is not always accurate and should not be used

College Dorm
Evolution and Philosophy of the College Dorm
College dorm is a housing option for students for the period of their studying at a college or university.
What is a College Dorm College Dorm
Higher education quite often means moving to another city. Which brings a very reasonable question
on accommodation. While a lot of housing options are available nowadays, here we will talk about the
most typical for students one college or university dormitory, which is usually a building situated on a
school campus where students can live for the period of their studies. Many educational
establishments call their dormitories residence halls , though dorm is very widely used as well and
have no negative connotation.
History of College Dorms
Isolation
The first schools were arranged around the big libraries and old dorms were aimed to separate students
from the seductions and distractions of outer world and provide a possibility to focus exclusively on
the process of learning.
Strict Rules and Requirements
During the last century residents of students dorms had to follow quite strict rules and regulations. The
majority of schools had a very strict dress code, hairstyle and their students had a very strict day
regimen which might include obligatory sport activities and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Higher costs imply higher quality. The days of the austerities of students life have gone. Let`s peep
into the dorm at the University of Arizona, which is probably one of the most luxurious students

you cannot. The hub in Arizona for example is offering spectacular rooms with private baths and fully
equipped kitchens. The hall is equipped with gym, fitness amenities, meeting rooms and spa with a
sauna, steam room and tanning beds. Outside, there is a rooftop infinity pool, hammocks and a sand

Character Analysis Of Bugs Bunny
The trickster character appears in many cultural mythologies across the world and across the span of
time. Despite the individual personalities of a trickster being unique across time and cultures there are
unchanging characteristics belonging only to tricksters, which still appear in our modern day media. A
wonderful example of a modern day trickster, who has lived within our society for the past 85 years,
would be Bugs Bunny. Bugs has undergone a few minor changes within his personality and outward
appearance throughout his life, yet he is recognizable to the current three generations living within our
society today. Bugs is a fearless, creative, and sassy individual who is able to break barriers, not only
between generations but also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, the trickster manages it all, he is able to put on as many faces as he needs to, and he excels in not
only the outward appearance but also fully embracing the other minor indecencies his disguise
requires. Another important ability of the trickster, is his ability to reverse situations. Whether it s
setting comrades against each other or getting someone to change their belief to the situation. Bugs
Bunny upholds the same characteristics as a trickster. In his analysis of the trickster, Sutherland
explains Bugs Bunny is bold, witty, and intelligent. As Billy West, the voice of Bugs Bunny, best
described Bugs as (Bugs Bunny) can quote Shakespeare and then tell you where there s a barroom in
Brooklyn. (Sutherland, 2008). With his natural abilities he is able to outwit and devices cleaver plan in
order to outsmart his opponents for his own personal gains. However, not only does he end up
winning due to his abilities, he also turns about his enemies during the processes. While he does not
seem to go looking for mischief, when the opportunities arises, he will be the cause of mischief in
order to outsmart other character, such as Elmer Fudd or Daffy Duck. Bugs Bunny is also one of the
very few characters that breaks down the barriers between genders and social class. His abilities to

Benefits Of Economic Globalization On South Africa Essay
GVPT200 Essay II
South Africa has reaped the benefits of economic globalization first hand as it has emerged to become
a major economic power in Africa, especially in recent years. This country has been infamously
plagued by apartheid, an inhumane policy of segregation based on grounds of race, which also had
economic consequences as trade sanctions were established in 1986 by the United States in response
to South Africa s policy of apartheid. However, apartheid ended in the 1990s and the South African
Development Community was created in 1992 in order to promote economic development through
free trade zones in other regions in Africa. South Africa also signed free trade agreements with other
regions, including Europe. I am interested in analyzing South Africa from 1991 when severe trade
sanctions imposed against South Africa were repealed by the United States to 2010 when South Africa
became part of the esteemed BRICS countries, a major indication of global economic success. The
independent variable is therefore economic globalization, stimulated by the rescinding of the punitive
trade sanctions by the United States in 1991, while the dependent variable is whether South Africa has
done better or worse since 1991 when it became more connected to the global economy. The
indicators for the independent variable are the number of level of trade barriers, the repeal of
Comprehensive Anti Apartheid Act, openness to free trade and free trade agreements, exports, and

This leaves the new government with three key needs. As somewhere else, its capability to deliver the
targets. The main need will be to expand on its present environmental change arrangement to make a
steady, long haul approach that will lead the progress to a low outflows economy. The legislature will
have the capacity to do this through a blend of managerial activity and crossparty help. Then comes
restoration of energy market improvement through the COAG Energy Council. The third is to exploit
the gas market to its maximum value and maintain continuous supply. It requires support as these are
not one sided political issues and this requires help also from the territory and state governments.
Government should also formulate plans for dealing with the issues fast rather than just implementing
what was previously discussed. In 2016, almost 17500 GWh of renewable energy was generated
which was half of the target met. More projects are supposed to start by 2017 which will help the
economy more by increased employment and saving energy prices (Bipartisan;pg 2). Climate policy

Critical Analysis Of To Build A Fire By Jack London
Critical Analysis of To Build a Fire by Jack London
The short story of To Build a Fire by Jack London provides the reader a very descriptive tale of a man
s journey through Yukon in the dead of the winter. The protagonist faced many challenges that started
from the beginning of his journey, from the lack of sunlight during Alaska s winter months to fending
off the extreme weather conditions. To the reader, it seems that the man was not intelligent enough or
had the proper instincts to make the journey during these harsh conditions, unlike the dog that
followed him With the on start of London s story, he describes the well known winter season of the
Yukon by indicating the lack of sunlight during the day (London 5). However, the protagonist was not
concern about the lack of sunlight and even knew that even in the near future; the sun would only be
displayed for a few moments during the day (London 7, 8, 9). Any intelligent person understands that
the sun provides the Earth with heat and is required for human life. The protagonist also doesn t seem
to have the mindset of thinking before doing or understanding the results of actions. He understood
that the literal content that there was no sun and the weather was very cold, but did not comprehend
that the combination of these two missing elements would cause danger in his journey. In fact, these
two missing element s was not even on his thoughts as he just knew he was not comfortable (London

Artemis In Greek Mythology
Mythology is an entertaining medium of entertainment, for both the ancient Greeks and Romans,
where there was no other form of entertainment, and the modern world, where the fantasies of old
continue to captivate the minds of the young. Every major Greek god has been represented many
times in modern media, but Artemis is one of the most dynamically presented characters in all of
mythology. This is due to the conflicting nature of the stories previously presented, which has been a
source of confusion for many. Nonetheless, people have continuously made stories out of the archer.
Artemis, while in the classic stories was very wise and fair yet stern, is considered younger and more

She had a temple dedicated to her at Ephesus, which was known as one of the Seven Wonders of the
World when it was created ( Temple of Artemis ). It was commissioned by Croesus circa 500 BC,
when he was king of Lydia ( Temple of Artemis ). It measured 350 by 150 feet, and was adorned by
art over the entire temple, even in areas as the top of the pillars that supported it ( Temple of Artemis ).
The temple was destroyed twice, once by fire from Herostratus in 356 BC, and once by destruction
from invading Goths in 262 BC, after which the temple was never rebuilt ( Temple of Artemis ).
Works of art were also dedicated to stories describing her, such as her encounter with Acteon in which
Acteon and his hunting dogs come across Artemis bathing in the woods; in spite, she turns Acteon into

times (Museum of Fine Arts, Boston). The bell krater depicts the scene where Artemis shoots Acteon

helpless and on the ground, begging for mercy for his actions while receiving none. The art and

King Lear Comparison Essay
Originally written at the start of the 17th century, William Shakespeare s play, King Lear, has become
one of his most famed works. The tragedy was first adapted for the screen in 1909 as a black and
white, silent film. Almost a century later in 2008, King Lear was once more brought to life through
director Trevor Nunn s film adaptation of the same name. Staring Ian McKellen as King Lear, the film
adaptation is based on the 2007 production of the play by the renowned Royal Shakespeare Company.
King Lear is a story of betrayal, loss and madness and to accurately convey this while simultaneously

Characters with titles that derive from English place names, such as the Duke of Cornwall, indicate
that the film takes place in England. Also, many scenes occur on heaths which can be commonly
found throughout England but rarely in Russia. However, the costumes worn by male characters,
especially Lear s scarlet tunic, closely resemble those worn by the Tsar and his high ranking officials.
Additionally, Lear s 100 knights have also been transformed into 100 singing, squat dancing Cossacks
which further reinforces the films connection to Imperial Russia as Cossacks are an ethnic group
known for their historic loyalty to the Tsar. The inclusion of rifles as well as glasses suggests that King
Lear is set in the 1800 s which coincides with both Victorian England and Imperial Russia. Although
using elements from two eras may confuse some viewers, historical and geographical references are
negligible to most audience members, allowing them to generate their own opinion about the setting.
At the same time, the setting makes Nunn s production unique. Since 1909, King Lear has been
adapted for the screen on numerous occasions with the majority of these adaptations retaining the
original setting of pre Christian England. By drastically changing the setting, it distinguishes Nunn s
King Lear from other

diced to read it, the words are going transforming in a story and you notice something: The needing of
people for showing their lives or their way of seeing the world through the literature.
This book that I chose promises me the mystery that I love; I am always reading about strange things,
doubts, thriller or fear because in literature those topics make ... Show more content on

When I started to read The Picture of Dorian Gray following the steps, I understood a lot of things:
context, feelings, questions, arguments and the reality behind the story. But I think I should have been
more punctual with the presentation of each task. This narrative is very complex because shows the
life, doubts, prejudices, and decisions of people in that generation. In each task, I exceeded the time
limit, because I read many times to approach all the information that exists in this novel, websites, and

Essay Overfishing Experience
Growing up in Minnesota, I spent extensive time fishing amongst the states ten thousand lakes,
inquisitively examining how the environment influenced aquatic organisms. By examination, my
understanding of the underlying biology behind nature greatly increased, and likewise did my ability
to catch fish. However, many environmental factors influenced the ecosystem, inexplicably creating
great fishing one day but failure the next. In disbelief of my bad luck, I contended with explaining
such unpredictability in the ecosystem. After combining bathymetry, weather, and GPS data into a
geographic information system application , my next fishing trip was wildly successful. Ever since, I
became fascinated by exploring how elements relate within a ... Show more content on

advanced microscopy and chromosome analysis techniques. Following both experiences, we
collaborated on an undergraduate research grant, winning the highest award for our directive. Over
twelve weeks, I investigated a four chromosome grass species, Zingeria biebersteiniana, containing
only one linear chromosome per meiotic gamete. I spent the summer independently preparing
microscopy slides for fluorescent in situ hybridization to reveal novel DNA configurations. Although
unpublished, we discovered one plant with stunted growth and apomictic asexual reproduction,

Concept of Piglovian Taxes
On the one hand, Piglovian taxes are certainly a useful function in that they may serve to deter a
certain type of individual from perpetrating the crime or social offense (e.g. smoking, traffic violation,
and alcohol). These individuals would typically be those who are low risk in nature (not willing to run
the risk of being caught), concerned with their money and unable to afford the economic consequent
of being caught, rational (in stat economic issues factor higher than the emotional drive of being on a
high does), and likely of a certain age (since adolescents, for instance, are more likely to remain
undeterred by rational consequences and absorbed in the thrill of the moment.) On the other hand, the
concept of Piglovian taxes seem to me to be no different than that of the many other type of
consequences that involve economic consequences just as much as taxing does. Taking the example of
drugs and evaluating the battery of response that America has employed to treat the situation, we see
that America s endeavors in this regard are largely counterproductive. US penalties for drug
involvement are severe. Third felony drug offences involving Substance I drugs carry a mandatory life
sentence without possibility of release. The penalties also involve any sample carrying a certain
amount of the proscribed drug, regardless of the material of the sample involved. Contrast this with
the environment that exists in eh Netherlands where drugs are categorized its drugs into

Abstract:
At the current situation, Lean Manufacturing has turned into an overall marvel. It is entirely effective
in drawing the consideration of organizations of all sizes. An extensive number of organizations are
taking after Lean advancements and encountering unlimited upgrades in quality, production, customer
service etc. According to lean principles, any use of resources that does not deliver consumer value is
a target for change or elimination. It also refers to the elimination of non value adding/wastes. This
Lean approach has mainly been applied in manufacturing, notably in Toyota, and the Toyota
Production System, from where Lean originates in the early 1960 s but not to a complete extent.
However, lean has also been widely applied in non manufacturing areas. Lean Management , or rather
Lean production is considered to be a smart approach on a system of measures and methodologies.
Considering the aspects on a whole, the potential to bring the concept of Lean in various fields of
activity like product development, supply chain,

In order to identify the victims and what happened, I used empirical and molecular formulas. Empirical formula is a formula with the lowest whole number ratio of elements present in a compound. Molecular formula indicates the actual number of atoms of each element presented in a compound. First, I calculated the empirical formula by using the percentages of the compound analysis for each passenger. I calculated this by turning an element s percentage into a number out of one hundred and then multiplying it by the molar mass to get the number of mols in each element. After, I divided all elements by the lowest number in order ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... C21H22N2O2 has a mass of 334.45 g, which matches with the molar mass of the molecular formula. Base on this similarity and the description, I can conclude that this substance is Strychnine. Strychnine is a rat poison that is highly toxic to humans. When looking for the passenger carrying poison, I looked for a person who shows resentment towards someone else on the plane. Both Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez carried this substance with them and also happen to be enemies. Friends and family from the interview stated that Selena Gomez is in a long and intense feud with Miley Cyrus. However, according to her Twitter, Selena knew that Miley would be on the same flight. In addition, she also sent a text message before the flight saying: I h8 this grl. Its about 2 b over. During his presidency, Monroe supported the American System in which the government supported economic growth and protective measures for domestic manufacturers from foreign competition. Unfortunately, not everyone favored the American System. In the South especially, Southerners opposed such a protective tariff for it only supported Northern manufactures, while hurting the Southern economy at the same time. The South, primarily agricultural with a large exporting economy, had to import all of its goods having to pay up to ⅓ it s price in tax in order to comply with the American System. John Randolph, a Southerner, expressed his grievances to Congress hoping to alleviate the struggles of the South by saying, no one interest in the country should be sacrificed by the management of taxation to another... the agriculturalists bear the whole front of the war and taxation (Document A). In saying this Randolph not only questioned Congress s intentions of collecting revenue and favoring the North, but also its job to regulate commerce, not taxes. The American System clearly drove a wedge between Northern and Southern interests. The institution of chartering a Second National Bank also stimulated many controversies. A wonderful example of a modern day trickster, who has lived within our society for the past 85 years, would be Bugs Bunny. Bugs Bunny upholds the same characteristics as a trickster. In his analysis of the trickster, Sutherland explains Bugs Bunny is bold, witty, and intelligent. Benefits Of Economic Globalization On South Africa Essay GVPT200 Essay II South Africa has reaped the benefits of economic globalization first hand as it has emerged to become a major economic power in Africa, especially in recent years. This country has been infamously plagued by apartheid, an inhumane policy of segregation based on grounds of race, which also had economic consequences as trade sanctions were established in 1986 by the United States in response to South Africa s policy of apartheid. However, apartheid ended in the 1990s and the South African Development Community was created in 1992 in order to promote economic development through free trade zones in other regions in Africa. South Africa also signed free trade agreements with other regions, including Europe. I am interested in analyzing South Africa from 1991 when severe trade sanctions imposed against South Africa were repealed by the United States to 2010 when South Africa became part of the esteemed BRICS countries, a major indication of global economic success. The independent variable is therefore economic globalization, stimulated by the rescinding of the punitive trade sanctions by the United States in 1991, while the dependent variable is whether South Africa has done better or worse since 1991 when it became more connected to the global economy. The indicators for the independent variable are the number of level of trade barriers, the repeal of Comprehensive Anti Apartheid Act, openness to free trade and free trade agreements, exports, and ... Every major Greek god has been represented many times in modern media, but Artemis is one of the most dynamically presented characters in all of mythology. This is due to the conflicting nature of the stories previously presented, which has been a source of confusion for many. Nonetheless, people have continuously made stories out of the archer.
